"Rarest Rookie Card"

The Get REAL Movement, a Canadian non-profit that fights 2SLGBTQ+ and racial discrimination, released the "Rarest Rookie Card" for National Hockey Card Day to represent the first 2SLGBTQ+ NHL player. (Note: It is an NFT, and I know nothing about NFTs except I'm pretty sure they're not good. I can't really provide commentary, but I wanted to share about the "Rarest Rookie Card".)

On National Hockey Card Day, we will be releasing the "Rarest Rookie Card": an incomplete hockey card for an unidentifiable player which we hope it will not only raise awareness of the lack of 2SLGBTQ+ representation in the league, but will also foster a culture of support and inclusivity, acting as a catalyst for the first openly 2SLGBTQ+ identified player to make their debut.

107 digital collectable cards are being released as NFTs on the marketplace OpenSea with the proceeds of each card’s sale going towards our mission of creating safe spaces in sports for the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

The digital card reimagines features found on other specialty hockey cards, with embossed player details, a set of blank statistics and a metallic ink finish which gives off a rainbow shimmer when tilted towards the light, evoking the colours of Pride. Emblazoned on the card are the words, “Rarest Rookie Card,” with the two O’s in “rookie” being used to create interlocking male icons: a symbol representing homosexuality.

The plan is to replace the faceless player on each of the cards once the unidentified player makes his debut, which we hope is sooner rather than later.

The NHL is the last of the “Big Four” professional sports leagues to count an openly 2SLGBTQ+ player among its ranks, trailing behind the MLB, NFL and NBA.

In 2021, Nashville Predators prospect Luke Prokop broke barriers when he became the first openly gay player under NHL contract, but he has yet to make his NHL debut.

In the world of collectibles, rarity is what gives a sports card its value. Earlier this year, an unopened case of hockey cards fetched over $5 million at auction because they likely contained several extremely rare Wayne Gretzky rookie cards. But there’s one occurrence so rare that no player in the NHL’s 107-year history has ever laid claim to it: being the league’s first openly 2SLGBTQ+ identified player.

Backstory:

(Prologue.**)

A traveling exorcist, of sorts. He was once a well-respected advisor to his monarch in a kingdom once known as Amaran. But that was before The Blackening... The evil that scorched the very brick and earth itself, tainting the soil permanently and taking the lives of all in the kingdom walls unfortunate enough to be trapped within, leaving nary a trace of what once was, save for an unmistakable aura of some since-passed, lingering darkness of what occurred in that unfortunate land. No one knows who he is for he wears a mask and never reveals his truth... His truth? He caused it. He was the villain that took the lives of his entire, beloved kingdom. All in the name of what was for the best... for the greater good of the kingdom. In the name of prevention of invading forces, in the name of paranoia and fear - well placed, but unnecessary and unwanted. He went against his kings wishes, arrogant enough to think he knew better, and he continued to dabble in magic of the hells and darkness, muddying his own soul in the process. The ritual he conducted in a desperate attempt to gain the upper hand to the rivaling kingdom succeeded, but then... failed. The spell splintered, fractured and became corrupted and in the end... he wound up conjuring forces beyond his control, but because of the twisting of the dark magic, it instead took the souls of all within the kingdom's walls, sapped the life of all plants, people, animals, everything until it was naught but husks and dust and blackness, and his soul became entwined with the very being he sought to control and send to destroy his enemies. His human soul became warped, tainted, and broken in irreparable ways... and now he, the sole survivor and misguided villain of his story, wanders far from what he has done in search of some kind of purpose beyond his unforgivable deeds. The melding of his mortal spirit with the essence of that great demon he sought to summon caused catastrophic damage, and now he must live with it, unable to die by conventional means, and too afraid of what he will turn into if the power he holds on a taut leash becomes untethered from his corporeal body. In short? He is, again, a traveling exorcist now, with those extraordinary otherworldly powers, a monster hunter at times, and a vagrant... The Vagrant. He does not go by his own name and has abandoned all that he once was - unable to face his own truth, let alone the judgement of others. He hides himself in plain sight, nothing but a lone wanderer with a stoic, bitter attitude that never stays in one place too long.

💀🎃👻Spooky Greetings👻🎃💀

A/n: This literally came to mind when I saw something similar in the actual game event. First time posting twst content here. This may get a sequel. Gonna try to post variety spooky content here cause HAPPY OCTOBER YALL!

SPOILERS for the new Halloween game event going on, somewhat. Also, a bit of Skully x fem!reader and implied fem!reader x the twst bois shown/tagged down below. Short Harem drama, kinda. Not much. But I think it ain't half bad.

“Hello, my lovely~”

The moment this new strapping figure — “Skully J. Graves at your service~” — appeared holding you in his arms as you awoke, you were awestruck at the spooky strapping young man.

After introducing all of yourselves, watching him kiss the hand of your schoolmates was amusing; seeing their appalled expressions. Guessing they don't get that brand of greeting often, huh?

Him kissing Grim's cheek had his fur stand on end to your delight.

And yet?

The moment he took your hand — only to pull you in and kiss you smack dab on the lips?

You felt the fires of envy and hate turn ablaze as the various pairs of eyes glowed outrageously.

Many hands, gloved or not, snatched him off you.

And all hell broke loose.

“Get your grubby hands off my beloved, you cretin!” Riddle turned red even his paled up Gothic aesthetic; Trey holding the struggling boy back in his arms.

“He means MY herbivore, skeletal bastard.” Leona growled in Skully’s face as he grabbed his collar.

“On the contrary, MY angel isn't up for auction when it comes to kisses from mere worms.” Azul's irked smile gave off unpleasantness.

“Oho? That doesn't seem to be the case, surely.” Jade jested to his boss's ire.

“MY jewel’s already doing so, octo pimp. That goes for you too, street rat.” Jamil hissed them both back and forth.

“Have you no manners of consent, you mongrel? Besides, my darling Y/n has better taste than you all. Me, for example.” Vil flaunted in the others irked faces; Epel looked just about done at this point.

“Don't you dare take away my Otaku goddess, you noob!” Idia gripped dramatically to the others nuisance.

“How dare you lay a finger on my beloved human.” Malleus spoke doom.

The air around them crackled with literal lightning as emerald flames had his hands full.

“My future Queen … prepare yourself … FOR HELL.”

“WAKA-SAMA!” Sebek switched to fanboy mode at his God's might.

“For once, we're on the same page.” Leona's smirk sent his way spoke volumes as he dropped Skully before the dragon prince.

“TSUNATARO, STAND DOWN! ALL OF YOU, PLEASE!” You got in the way to defend the new anime boy from the others' united wrath, especially Malleus's. “One kiss is not that big of a deal.”

You could hear a pin drop now as everyone, even Skully, viewed you as if you had two heads.

“Good grief. Ya sure you're not magical? Cause you're bewitching them into lovestruck fools. And you're not dating any of ‘em. God, you're an idiot.” Grim griped.

Leona, Jamil, and Sebek appeared as glowing eyed phantom monsters ready for the kill. “YOU'RE ONE TO TALK, FUR BALL!!!”

Yet Skully looked unperturbed, his charming toothed smile arised, as Grim got chased by three SSR dressed pissed off mages. “Oya oya … What a lively bunch, you all are. And all because I took a kiss from your sweet lips, lovely Y/n. But if you are single, then may I ask you out?”

“NO!!!” All the former overblot cases now turned bachelors for your token affections shouted in unison.

Trey, Jade and Epel and you hung your head in exasperation.

Ah, quite the Harem dilemma.

Halloween coated, no less.
