Looking for a fic as far as I recall Katniss works in Haymitch’s car parts shop.

The Everdeen’s have passed and she looks after Prim who is awful to Katniss. Gale is Katniss ex and I think spread rumours about her/body shamed her. He’s a douche basically.

Peeta moves in next door and has an old car that he loves(possibly he calls it The Beast??) and is constantly in Haymitch’s getting parts. He really likes Katniss …. But I can’t remember what happens in the end. It popped into me head and I’d love to read it again

The guy the whole world wants to sleep with…

Peeta Mellark could make anyone‒anyone in the whole world, she’s sure‒swoon just by crooning a few notes in that honeyed baritone of his. He could liquify a girl into a puddle at his feet just by calling her ‘honey,’ ‘baby,’ ‘sweetheart,’ or her personal favorite, she thinks sarcastically, ‘Kid.’ Those blond waves, blue eyes, dimples, and boy-next-door good looks have surely broken a million hearts.

But hers came first.

And she will always and forever know him, not as Peeta Mellark the famous singer, but as Peet, the slightly nerdy boy from the church choir.

Summary: When Peeta Mellark returns to his small hometown as a famous singer, Katniss Everdeen, a music publicist, becomes responsible for handling his tour. And he asked for her, personally. Although Peeta Mellark is handsome and charming, it should be no problem for a professional like her, except she’s never actually spoken to him before-and she’s always wanted to.

WIP Wednesday

I was tagged this week by @thelettersfromnoone and last week (or the week before that?!?!? 🫣) by @mega-aulover and @thesweetnessofspring but I never posted anything for those. So here’s a snippet of a pseudo historical ficlet I’m working on, The Courtship of Lambs.

“In that case, please give your mother my regards and thank her for the tonic,” he lifts the small jar slightly before placing it in his sack. “Are there any other herbs or cuttings she or Miss Primrose have need of? From up in the hills?”

“I shall have to ask her,” Katniss says and thinks to ask him when they might expect him again when the bush beside her shudders. Both of their heads turn and spot the culprit.

“No!” Katniss shouts as Peeta attempts to shoo away the placid lamb that happily munches on her raspberry bushes. The lamb bleats and the dog barks as Katniss sets her hands on her hips.

“I apologize, Miss Everdeen, I--”

“That is the third time this month that troublesome lamb has consumed one of my raspberry bushes.”

“He is only eating what he sees as available food,” Peeta points out and Katniss snorts indelicately. “If you would allow me to repair your garden fence—“

“Perhaps you should pay your flock greater mind or I shall be forced to turn that lamb into a stew!”

The Case of the Missing Donut, or How Katniss Breakfast was Stolen

For @wendywobbles, sorry you were the victim of office thievery. Hope this helps. Mistakes are all mine.

Today... was the worst!

I slept through my alarm; then had to take a freezing shower since my sister hogged all the hot water, I didn’t have a chance to grab breakfast, so I stopped at Dunkin’ Donut and splurged on a Halloween themed donut with an oversized chocolate munchkin covering the hole, and chocolate spider legs piped over gooey vanilla frosting. I stepped in gum right outside the door. It took me about a minute and a half to get all the guck scrapped off my boot. And then I was incredibly late for work.

It’s the first time I’ve ever been late, yet this is the morning the branch manager calls for a staff meeting and of course I get told off for tiptoeing in ten minutes after my boss started his spiel.

I lost 45 minutes of my life in an unproductive meeting where the upper management just went in circles explaining our goals for the last trimester of the year, like we don’t get bombarded with memos about it twice a day.

My stomach growled mortifyingly loud. I could feel a hungry migraine coming.

After the meeting I had to print out a report and had my supervisor sign it and the whole time all I could think about was my precious, sweet snack waiting for me in the break room.

At 11:15 I was finally able to unglued myself from my desk and the pile of work that needed sorting. By then, I was suffering from hunger pains. I almost jogged down the hallway, the image of the donut, and that oversized munchkin on top made my mouth watered.

I stepped into the kitchenette where I left my box to find it pristinely empty. I made a double take, but there was no white and shocking pink box to be found anywhere. I made my way to the fridge, in hopes that someone tried to be nice by putting in there for safekeeping, but again, no luck.

I finally see the corner of the Dunkin Donut box sticking out of the wastebasket in the corner. I practically trip over myself to reach it, panicking the worst has happened! I pluck the cardbox out from under a banana peel, I can feel how light it is. My festive pastry is gone.

My shoulders droop in disappointment; my eyes fill with angry tears.

Is there no justice in this world?!? Who takes a woman’s only self-indulgent snack and continues on with their day, like no thievery has occurred?!?

“Hey, Katniss!”

“No can do, Peeta! I’m out for vengeance!” I tell my only friend in this pit of snakes I call office, and stompdown the hall on a mission.

“Wait… why?” Peeta asks widening his sparkly baby blues, turning on his heel to follow me.

“Someone stole my breakfast, and I’m off to find the culprit, a bring sweet justice to my stomach, and my donut!”

“Oh?” Peeta hesitates for a second.

Long enough to draw my suspicion, so I wheel around and fix him with a scowl.

“Was it you?” I demand point blank.

“No!” He raises his hands in surrender. “But I could—“

“If it wasn’t you, then I’ll be on my way!” I

I spend the next 15 minutes walking around the office, squinting at people on their desks while scrutinizing their faces for any trace of chocolate, or guilt. But I find nothing.

“People are staring at you weird.” Peeta informes unnecessarily.

I sigh. “Maybe I’m overreacting,” I tell him sheepishly. I feel this loss acutely, because it was the first thing I’ve gotten just for me in months. It was the first time in almost a year I wasn’t thinking about rent or car payments. I saw something I wanted, and I decided I could have it.

To bad another a-hole decided they could have it too.

“You’re not. It’s awful that some selfish jerk felt entitled to something that wasn’t theirs, and took it without permission or remorse.” He says frowning.

I’m momentarily distracted by his expression, because he’s normally so sweet and amiable, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him this upset before.

The thought that Peeta is a very attractive man, passes my mind— not for the first time— but unlike previous times, I let my eyes linger on his handsome face until he startles me, staring back into my eyes with breathtaking intensity.

“I’m starving.” I blurt out with tears pricking my eyes.

“I know.” He answers with a shrug. “I called my dad and had him rush this over.” He says, producing a brown pastry box engraved with a big M circled with wheat stalks. “This is from our bakery. Is not a donut, but it’s lunch time, and I figured you needed something denser to tie you over.” His lopsided smile is sweet, with just a dash of shyness.

Warmth pools in my stomach, and it’s a different type of hunger.

“I don’t know what to say,”

“You don’t have to say anything,” he smirks, “But I’d love it if you shared some of those with me.” He nods at the box cradled in my hands.

“It depends.” I sniffle, “Did you ordered cheese buns? Because the answer to your request to share heavily depends on whether or not your father delivered Mellark cheese buns.” I weight the box in my hands experimentally, but I can smell the herbs and melted cheese blend already.

Peeta chuckles, shaking his head ruefully. “Wow! Seriously, Everdeen? And here I thought you’d reward my generosity with pastries! I knew I should’ve gone with the raisin and nut bread! You wound me, ma’am. Deeply!”

I elbow him good naturedly, “Come on you praise seeker. But if you brought salad for lunch, I get a couple bites of whatever protein you put on it!”

He gives me a mock stricken glare, but we start laughing on our way to the break room, his hand sitting on the small of my back, and me, cozying up into his side.

Currently watching: Just finished watching "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" because I'm about two years behind on watching anything MCU for reasons that you don't wanna know because it'll cause me to go on a rant. Also just finished watching "Wilderness." Been trying to watch season 3 of "The Mandalorian" for about six months now with my kids. We're about halfway through. Aaaaand have only recently started watching "Game of Thrones" yes yes yes, I live under a rock. I've made it through two seasons so far.

1. Hmmm, probably Hayeffie. Like I’ve got plans to lowkey go down that route in both LTSHTM and SIADS but I don’t actually really enjoy their (book) characters in a romance since book!Effie is so intolerable.

9. My most disliked character is probably… idk? I don’t dislike Gale but I really start to feel like I dislike him when I see people acting like he’s a saint and Peeta’s awful. Albeit this is kind of me fighting invisible comments since opinions like this is rare nowadays and they were always the minority but still. Other than that though, I guess Effie???? I don’t like her book counterpart too much, so I prefer to just write her in fics like the movie Elizabeth Banks version.

YESSSSSS...

1. Falling Up by Shel Silverstein- This book got me thinking of words and the way people play with them and had me thinking about abstract concepts very early on. It made me see that words and writing could be fun and beautiful.

2. Star Girl by Jerry Spinelli- taught me that it was ok to be different and to love my inner nerd. It made me feel seen and special as a young kid who liked reading books and writing stories in my head.

3. The Once and Future King by T.H. White- opened up my world to myths and ancient heroes, it helped me develop an interest in older works.

4. Eragon by Christopher Paolini- made me realize I wanted to be a fantasy writer. I fell in love with the world building and the characterization. The journey it took me on and the lessons it taught me stay with me even today.

5. The Hunget Games by Suzanne Collins-of course! This is the book that inspired me to first fanfiction write and post my stories online! I got sucked into this dystopia and never left. One part of my brain is forever playing out scenes of Katniss and Peeta falling love and falling apart over and over again.

So yeah, if you want to know who I am, these books will give you a pretty clear idea!! 😉

Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish, is the first book that I ever read. It made me fall in love with reading. I am dyslexic and this was the first book that I read that I understood and taught me that books weren't hard or boring. I laughed so hard. I was maybe 7years old.

Charlotte's Web by E.B. White is the second book I read by myself it took me longer to read, I was about 8-9 years old when I discovered this book and read it...it taught me the value of good friends. I didn't have friends growing up. I was picked on as a kid.

Night by Eli Wiesel - While a lot of people love Anne Frank, I loved Night. I read this book while in 9th Grade. It changed my perspective on how to look at people.

The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boon. This book made me, Corrie was a young woman during WW2 who she and her family hid Jewish families in the Netherlands. She ended up in a concentration camp and lost many of her family members. I was in my late twenties when I read this book. It reconfirmed that all humans are created equal.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, not telling you the age lol but please know that because of these books, I am here in the fandom.
