Hey! Question from one wannabe game design graduate who is also an artist and wants to make their own (very simple) little game one day - how is it like working on a game set to release one day? Did u feel discouraged learning a new skill (?) after already being a pro artist? Was the game a random idea or have you guys been planning this since a long time? Btw super excited for Sorry We're Closed and I'm obsessed with the retro look and artstyle <33

Firstly THAnk you so much for being into Sorry We're Closed - it's my lil bby pride and joy so I'm glad someone out there in the wider world is looking forward to it! I'll try and answer your questions in order and not ramble too much! I'm a little older now, and gotten to that point where deadlines aren't so scary anymore. There's a point in which you learn to live with what you can make, rather than trying to make something that's not what's within your ability (which is why we always want more time to get better while we work). But after a while you just realise its better for the idea to be out there in the world where other people can see what you were trying to do! Admittedly i will do a lot of hours sometimes if i REALLY want something to be a certain level or if I'm particularly stuck on something , but a deadline keeps me realistic. It allows for the thing to be good and exist, rather than perfect and existing only in my mind. Learning a new skill was actually extremely exciting. I wanted to absorb everything like a sponge. I hadn't done any 3d modelling before 2020 seriously (i tried zbrush once in like 2015 and i kept crashing my computer lol). I just wanted to keep going because it was so fun seeing my creations come to life! I always dreamed of designing game characters and it was literally happening before my eyes. Also, the indiedev community is extremely kind, helpful and resourceful. There's lots of free knowledge out there, and people who are willing to talk to you and help you figure things out! Being trained as an artist honestly only helped the modelling endeavour. Having an understanding of anatomy helped my understand how I wanted to approach the form of my models - what needed to be shaped and what I could get away with painting on.

So my knight is about 934 verts/1,861 tris (sort of like a ps2 character) but painting can give some fun depth. I've found this method to be really tricky though as it's highly prone to unflattering angles - but thats partly cause I'm still learning and relying too much on my skills as a 2d artist I guess. This model I made a bit later on, the Sorry We're Closed models I made were far earlier before i really knew what i was doing so they rely even more on my painting skills

but I felt it was okay since we were going for a nostalgic game feel which means some funny deformities like this

but it's whatever, i think it's kind of cute lol. We started planning the game in 2020 as well, literally after I saw my partner Tom make a character model move around in Unity (it looked pretty terrible) so i said I'll make models and he would code. Then I came up with a story, and from there we came up with how the game itself would play. Game design itself is something we were both lacking and real experience in so that has been the biggest wall to climb so far but its been a really fun and rewarding journey so far. Anyway sorry for the ramble!! I really hope you get a shot at working on a project you really love and want to pour everything into!

Hey there Puparoonies! With December fast approaching and a new 101 Dalmatian Street trending party set up for Jan 2- Jan 3, I figured I should make some ART! I've made an all new drawing grid just for Drawcember and made it vague so people can reuse it for whatever fandom they want! (A shout out back to me so I can see your art would be great if you do btw!)

HOW ITS GONNA WORK- I have made a grid of aesthetics that will be the theme of the piece. Basically I'll draw a characters in an outfit that matches the aesthetic provided. They will get a hat, a bag and a piece of jewellery and I'll try to make it match their personality if I can! (For example, if Dylan got the Space Aesthetic I'd go more sciency. For Dawkins, more sci-fi show. For Dolly, cool aliens!)

HOW DO WE PICK THE CHARACTERS TO AN AESTHETIC?! - I'll be holding polls to decide now that Tumblr can do that. We have an A team and a B team. So we'll be voting on two Aesthetics at a time. I'll post the Aesthetic and a description so you know what to expect.

WHAT ARE THE AESTHETICS?!

Descriptions

(Please note that aesthetics can very from person to person on what they mean, and what they include!These are just my takes.)

Pastel- The pastel aesthetic is just as straightforward as its name, focusing on everything that's less saturated and in lighter hues. In particular, the word “pastel” refers to a soft and delicate shade of a color produced by adding more white.

Vaporwave- The Vaporwave aesthetic incorporates early Internet imagery, late 1990s web design, glitch art, and cyberpunk tropes, as well as anime, Greco-Roman statues, and 3D-rendered objects. VHS degradation is another common effect seen in vaporwave art.

Dark - Dark aesthetic covers a wide range of different things. If its dark and edgy , it can fall under this same system. Sometimes there's horror elements, but it can also be cutesy. All you really need is black, greys, and sparse uses of blood red and neon green. Some spikes can't hurt either!

Neon- The Neon aesthetic (Or Glowwave.) Is the use of bright, almost glowing colors on darker scenes. Reflective surfaces, sparkles and bright 'neon' pink can dominate this aesthetic.

Pastel Goth- Pastel Goth is an aesthetic that is a result of mixing goth or grunge with the sweet pastel elements of the kawaii aesthetic. Think if horror was cute, or cute was horrific if that's easier. Lots of black and pastel colours here.

Punk-Punk aesthetics determine the type of art punks enjoy, which typically has underground, iconoclastic, and satirical sensibilities. Punk can be as messy or minimalist as you want. It also tends to be more focused on the handmade, reused and recycled. Newspaper collages, safety pin, metal spikes, oh yeah!

Black and white- Contrast. That is the core of the Black and White aesthetic. Using only grayscale to convey detailed images. Tends to be fancy, simple and clean!

Rainbow- COLOUR, COLOUR, COLOUR! Rainbow is all colour all the time! With clear, fun shapes and fun splatters, rainbow is just... colourful fun.

Space- Spacecore is a type of aesthetic that is centered around astronomy, stars and planets. It can also be called astrocore or cosmic core. Spacecore uses lots of stars and planet type things in clothing or decor. Many spacecore aesthetics will have pictures of the sun, the moon or the stars.

Cottagecore- Cottagecore is an aesthetic that celebrates simple living, particularly in the countryside. It encourages a lifestyle rooted in traditional skills—like baking bread, gardening, and sewing your own clothes. Basically you live in a modern day Jeremiah Puddleduck book.

Pale- Palewave centers around muted and pale colors with a very relaxed and comfy vibe. Think light, easy, breezy and gentle designs. Nothing pops out right off the bat in this muted aesthetic.

Kidcore- Bright colours, cartoon designs, nostalgia, and fun! Its somewhat similar to rainbow, but you can't escape consumerism in this aesthetic usually! Toys, games, anything to do with just being a kid and enjoying life is included!

Who/what is your biggest inspo for poetry or art?

aagh i dont think i'll ever have one biggest inspo for poetry n art i just have a lot of lads which i like specific things about + those likes are still always ongoing and changing lol (which btw ty for askin bout poetry cause i LOVE it n i never get asked abt poetry hehe)

I have a big ol google doc where i have lines of fav poetry i write down when i come across them (usually when im just scrollin the internets) and atm I've been noticing that a lot of lines i keep enjoying are all by Mary Oliver even tho i've yet to read her collection of poetry!!! so that's on my to-do list C: other poets who's names keep poppin up in that google doc are ocean vuong, richard siken, chen chen and uhh flatsound? they do more music but they've done some spoken word stuff and their songs just feel close enough to the realm of poetry to me u know

Art stuff... lol which medium?? /lh I really like thomas jordan's photography (the COLOURS my DUDE) mmm shelia berger's kinetic sculptures and KICKASS "Bird Show" encaustic paintings (i watched the rlly short like 5 min documentary on her and i was enraptured) Spencer finch has got a lot of cool conceptual art stuff like i think CIE 529 418 (CANDLELIGHT) is rlly cool!! Holly warb and @/vchienart both got some lovely lovely illustrations/paintings with soft beautiful colours... @/emilienunez has some really pretty and elegant yet v cute ceramics!! and @/soonthemoon some really like cute warm n cozy ones... Oof there's so many digital artists i love ;-; and i keep finding new cool lads aghh @catnippackets has such a good grasp on like form n shape if that makes sense?? like drawin people in these rlly fluid poses in like silky lineart aaa i found @milkdudz 's art recently and i LOVE their art style and their cats are just. perfect balance of spiky and soft n very very Cat which is so good @everydaylouie u gotta know louie right ?? how can someone make such lovely 2d and 3d art and music and also know how to code n make lil games. that is too much power for one soul to possess nifty-senpai's art n animations and designs ofc!! are incredible!! and i REALLY love their concepts for what the wc clan territories look like (this moonpool are you kidding me???? gorgeous) @thunderc1an's lineless art style my beloved...... yall clammorin about my lineless art style u GOTTA check out theirs so good (also the everchanging never the same designs for wc characters is so good so freeing so interesting to look at!!) pq2 thoughts after finishing it!:

i think. it is a g. game. it is a persona game i will admit!

no but srs i think its good if youve never played a persona game which i assume is why its on 3ds only. it really does feel like discount persona with all of the last three cast thrown in? and some of the gameplay improvements (this game's gameplay aged better than fes and p2's LMAOO) i guess its a compromise to reach fans who've never actually played the main games cause they dont own a playstation console or something.

at the same time it makes no sense for "new fans" to play because you need at least some background knowledge of the prev characters and plot to care.

in my case i knew everything abt p3 and p5, only osmosis knowledge of the plot of p4 so i ended up using the p4 cast the least in my playthrough :( so theres that. not worth playing if u dont care abt the other casts imo

...so we agree the characters are the selling point here, its advertised as a mega crossover and whatever but. people complaining that theyre "watered down" to base traits or even traits they didnt have in the first place are Right LOL except for a scant few characters who get a lot of expansion. but for the most part none of them are themselves (like yusuke... 😔.... akihiko.... aki not as bad as yusuke but they have the same writing problem)

no one expects the characters to rly individually shine when theres so many ofc, the game even pokes fun at the "limited screen time" joke but like. what else is there to this? 🤔 well

character interactions! those were good. everyone expected detective princes meetup to be really great but i loved the other pairs like haru and mitsuru (heirs with distant dads...), and the PQ OC girl with futaba :] (introvert friends!!)(theyre like sucrose and collei in this year's windblume if you go there)

speaking of akechi though. yea he's part of the list of characters that surprisingly did not get butchered and in fact expanded upon in this game. aside from akechi it's P3 FeMC.

others i liked were P5 MC (his dialogue choices are SO out there), shinjiro aragaki, ken amada, yukiko amagi maybe yosuke hanamura and P4MC but their personalities just stayed the same instead of getting possible new insight?

i liked velvet room guys too theyre goated frfr! yes including marie. even i was surprised (probably cause akechi gets to poke fun at her and the twins hdjdhdhd)(cute)

i cant put P3 male MC anywhere cause i will always be biased towards him 😔🫰 (he was great btw)

but the crow character expansion in particular intrigued me and leads me to accept this game as canon like some ATLUS USA reps intended. akechi: stripped away of his obligations is a cunning, introspective and overall respectable young man and the game showcased all of his core traits well. he purposefully isolates himself from the main group and gets called out on it, consistently is the one that makes the most sense in discussions, gets various little moe moments... he honestly seems like he doesnt know what to make of all this forced bonding with strangers but he cant help to indulge anyway. 😭 he's vocal in discussions about their plans but a passive :) face in the background during fun moments until he's addressed or curious. the way he furthers the narrative along like they wouldnt get as far as they did without him i feel. but between all of that he was the main character to me.

the end scene where he seems regretful that he has to leave and go back to his revenge plot.... hurts. because for all intents and purposes we just saw akechi if he didnt have all that baggage and was just allowed to exist as himself. a smart guy with a whole life ahead of him. but he didnt choose that.

oh god that emoji is huge but anyway. FeMC!! ^_^ the problems of toxic positivity being addressed in her arc was great. they really tried to give her as much love as possible without being too happy (persona games tend to make their characters suffer anyway to even things out) and it was great! her writing reminds me of kasumire's mental illness but with less romance tease pandering.

ah yes and the obligatory Persona side game OC... hikari and nagi. honestly wished they didnt exist as much as i liked hikari's thing 😔 it got old and outright cringe man im sorry like surely the devs could come up with something better than this?? way to not explain enlil and mess with the in-universe power scaling too LMAO. 2/10 is being generous!

anyway its a fairly short game in persona standards so i cant really say it's time wasted when i got so many character interaction crumbs..... i guess i lucked out by liking the characters that i do instead of ones that kinda got shafted in this. (except for aki but 😔 i just kinda accepted his blown out of proportions awkwardness outside of P3)

it's..... a 6/10 from me overall! music and velvet room attendants + nanako cameo DLC carried

2023 was not great year because Elon is still ruining Twitter and now become X (and that's why some people stopped using Twitter and moved to another social media early in 2022), NFTs are still awful for being scams, daily power cuts in my country Egypt since Summer, Israel–Hamas war, etc.

However, it's a good year for these TV series, movies, video games, and more! Including The Super Mario Bros. Movie, My Little Pony's 40th Anniversary, The Powerpuff Girls' 25th Anniversary, Warner Bros and Disney's 100th Anniversaries, Two Strawberry Shortcake 3D specials, Puzzup Amitoi, etc.

This year, My Little Pony's 40th Anniversary, The Powerpuff Girls' 25th Anniversary, and both Warner Bros and Disney's 100th anniversaries are the most important four celebrations I have ever heard!

And of course, Warner Bros and Disney have the same anniversaries because they were both founded in 1923!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a super awesome film! Also, I'm so very happy about the Egyptian Arabic dub of the film, dubbed by Masrya Media, a dubbing studio in Egypt, I had never seen it in the theater until I saw it on digital.

It's sad that My Little Pony: Make Your Mark and My Little Pony main comics (2022) and its one-shots (that are based on Make Your Mark) ended this year, but we'll see about more My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale content that will be only animated series and will have a new comics based on the 2D series in the next year.

Also, I'm very happy to see more merchandise for My Little Pony G5 by any Middle Eastern companies this year, available in the Arab world :)

Strawberry Shortcake and The Beast of Berry Bog and Strawberry Shortcake's Perfect Holiday are the best G4 Strawberry Shortcake 3D specials that I have ever seen and I liked both! I can't wait for the next two specials in the next year.

If you never heard about the new mobile game, it's Puzzup Amitoi! A Korean video game that was launched in September and I never heard about it until I first saw it in an AD of it, and of course, it's a 3-match game and there are cute characters (Helpie is my favorite character in the game). And that I become a fan of Puzzup Amitoi since October. Just play it, it's fun!

I know I don't like horror movies much, but it's funny how the film "Five Nights at Freddy's" was just released in the USA on my birthday (October 27th) and that I became 18 years old, which means I'm an adult!

IMPOTENT NOTE: The Adventures of Mansour: Age of A.I. (The Adventures of Mansour reboot) wasn't released in the Summer of this year, it's still in production and will likely be released in 2024 or 2025.

There's more to say, but I prefer to do not to say too much.

BTW, 2024 will be a better and greater year, such as more My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale content, The Garfield Movie, Angry Birds' 15th Anniversary, Sonic The Hedgehog 3, another two Strawberry Shortcake 3D specials, etc.

So, I can't wait!

i was planning on making the area outside the train stop full of pink flowers, but ive instead filled it with pansies. i might go back to pink, but idk.....

also: how long does it take for fruit to regrow??? also trees take forever ???? ik im just being impatient but damn.

oo also villagers. now that i have the campsite, im excited! honestly, the only villagers of mine that im attached to rn are opal and rosie. so if anyone wants to be notified in case my other villagers move out, lmk!

and now for a nostalgia rant. in one of my previous towns, i think 2018? i had some amazing villagers that i really miss — pancetti and merengue. i love them so much! if anyone has them, please let me know because i love them!!! i miss them!! come back home, im so sorry for leaving you!!!!!!!!!

millie parfait! nijisanji, witch of calamity with the humor of a eleven year old boy. does eng and tagalog streams. has really creative stream ideas, shes always up to something new. her humor is a bit gross and sexual so maybe watch a few clips of her to get a feel. shes so hilarious though. does a bunch of good asmr!

enna allouette! nijisanji, eng mostly. a bird(?) with the darkest humor ever. shes an acquired taste bc some jokes can be out there. shes not bigoted at all btw, those arent her thing. more morbid! her deadpan deliveries are funny, and shes been friends with millie for ages. joins in on millies gross humor when theyre together. does some cute arts and crafts handcam streams!

selen tatsuki, nijisanji. a dragon racing dragon. i love her. she loves fps games and plays a lot of apex. she laughs so much, and its infectious. she has a bit of "gap moe" she shows when she goes gaga over cute things or makes bentos. i will love her till my last breath

rosemi lovelock! nijisanji, a rose maiden. id die for her any day. she does creative streams a lot, and asmr! her whisper knocks me out. shes very "pure" if you wanna use that word, and is a little out of touch. shes incredibly silly and funny!

finana ryugu! nijisanji, a mermaid! she isnt afraid to talk about sexual content, she embraces it. shes super funny, and entertaining, likes childe a lot for some reason.

quick nijisanji indonesia/korea vtubers that i dont watch as much but theyre still great: taka radjiman, hana macchia (first vtuber i ever watched), suha, han chiho (graduated :(), mika melatika!!!!!!!, and ban hada.

aza from virtuareal, nijisanjis chinese branch. mandarin streams, with some english here and there. great singer, and funny. cute model too! you guys love guys with ears. his genmate roi sings too, and they have funny 3d moments together.

prince ryu shiro, an independent vtuber. ok this plug is completely personal since i want this guy to get more viewers. funny and posts a lot of youtube shorts, streaming on both yt and twitch. english, and very responsive with his audience since its so small. used to to do tierlist tuesdays and plays a lot of retro games. please go watch him. my dragon man.

Hi Mono! I've been going through all your bandori/roselia stuff and I love them! It's made me want to get more into the concert/real life band stuff but I don't really know where to start. I see some of them are numbered but I don't know if 1st is better or if I should jump to the newer ones. What do you recommend? Is there a good one to start with?

Finally some payoff in the mono-blogs-art follower to 3D Roselia fan pipeline!!! Welcome anon!!! Are you ready to fully devote yourself? :D

Personally I think in Roselia's case it's actually best to start at the very beginning and go through the lives chronologically! As you know, Roselia went through a massive member shift back in 2018, with two members graduating from the band due to health reasons closely after each other - first Endou Yurika on bass (the original seiyuu for Lisa), and a few months later Akesaka Satomi on keyboard (original seiyuu for Rinko). They are part of what I call OGselia and even though the band isn't active in this constellation anymore, I'd still highly recommend watching older lives and content with them. They were a big part of what made Roselia what it is now, and they're also just incredible players and performers, cute, charismatic, charming.

My personal favourite live is actually their very 1st live Rosenlied @ Shibuya Duo!! It's a tiny venue, nothing more than a big garage, the audience is so close to the stage they can almost touch Aiai, the energy is amazing, the interactions are incredibly sweet. Roselia didn't have a lot of original songs back then, so the live isn't long either, but it's very dear to my heart. (Rosenlied also had an additional performance at a different, bigger venue due to its success, so check out both!)

My second favourite live is definitely another OGselia live, it's their 3rd live Ewigkeit, which was the concert where Yurishii graduated as a bassist and passed on the baton to Nakashima Yuki, who's to this day the bassist + voice of Lisa. Though they didn't know it at the time, Ewigkeit would be the last numbered live to feature Akeshan as well, who gratuated a bit later quite suddenly before they could find a new keyboardist. Hence why their 4th live would go on to be called Vier, as they performed with only 4 members before introducing Shizaki Kanon as the new keyboardist halfway through.

From Vier on forward we got what I call NEWselia, though they've been active in this constellation for much longer now than the OG one so the name doesn't quite fit anymore lol. Both Yukki and Nonchan brought new personalities to the band (they're also much, much younger than the rest of the band) but they fit together well, and Newselia lives are just as good and emotional and wholesome. Particularily Hitze (5th live) at Budoukan hits hard, not only because you've seen them go from a glorified garage to Budoukan, but also because it's the first proper Newselia live and the first step into their new future. Another personal highlight is Rausch (which was a spin-off solo live from their joint live with RAISE A SUILEN, called Rausch und/and Craziness, which is ALSO amazing btw), which is another of my favourite lives.

But enough of my rambling! Long story short, watch them in chronological order, and if you want to check out some older interviews, subbed tv segments etc to see their growth too! Your best ressource for subs is definitely the all-powerful Bandori Seiyuu Content Masterlist which gives links to everything that's subbed out there. Quite a few Roselia lives have full subs, like Ewigkeit, Vier, Wasser&Flamme, Einheit, Rausch... check out the masterlist for all the links. Sometimes only certain segments of the lives are subbed too. Definitely go check out the beloved mutual Rachael AKA AuroraSubs' website Rosenland for a collection of her personal translations & subs, including a lot of seiyuu content as well!

So I just saw the announcement about the EN server shutting down or at least dicontinued (hopefully just for now) and I might just burst into tears 🥲 I want to put my thoughts or rather feelings of the journy up until now on here to come down but maybe also as some form of comfort for anyone who needs it? It's very long and might have some broken english as it's not my first language so do keep it in mind please 😅

Anyways, I started A3! last year on march 7th because I saw a youtube video of people cosplaying Sakuya and Sakyo. At taht point, I already knew of A3! somewhere in my distant memories back when it was JP only. I decided to try out the game since I was getting bored of my current mobile games and the few reviews I could find of it were relatively positive. I had no idea just what a big part of my life this game was about the become 🤧

Btw I'm listening to some A3! songs right now, specifically Sakuya's 2nd character song, and it's not helping me 😢 So at the time, lockdown just started 2 days ago, which left me with a lot of time playing it and, I kid you not, I gulfed the main story down like it was the last slice of cake at home. I have 2 siblings. I think I finished it in a week or so despite it being only unlockable through leveling up, and if my memory serves me right, you need to be around lvl 75 to unlock all 4 episodes. As one can see, I was VERY invested in the story. It was just so....nice? I don't know how to exactly describe it but I was surprised by how likable everyone was. Of course I didn't hold such strong feelings for everyone back then as I do now but I was intrigued enough back then of nearly everyone, which is kind of rather rare in such types of games, no? At least for me it is, although I haven't played terribly a lot (Love Live, MLQC, Mystic Messenger).

I really like how the story actually continues through the events and how it alternated between stories exploring certain characters more (show events) and stories focusing on just them having fun. Getting to know everyone bit by bit and seeing how everyone grows closer to each other, not only within their respective troupes but the whole theater, makes me really all warm and fuzzy and it's found family, what more could you want?

Also, I really like Izumi, our dear MC 🥰 Even though she's supposed to be our self-insert, I found myself really enjoying reading her thoughts, observing her reactions to other characters' shenanigans (like her 'I do not see' to the members plan of faking their identity to bail Citron out lol) and just....her personality. Trying not to digress here but she has a lot more personality than other MCs in these joseimuke games and it makes her interactions with others not only bearable but even enjoyable. I'm not saying that this is what a perfect MC looks like or that she's superior to bland self-inserts. After all, it depends on the story, gameplay and other things. It's just a nice bonus I'm very grateful for. I mean, I got really emotional when Izumi performed with the other staff members all of the plays the actors have put out so far for the first anniversary. Her realizing she gained a new dream for her lost one just really took my heart, broke it in thousand pieces and then mended it again.

I also love A3! songs ❤ I did wonder how they would work in this franchise since it's not about idols but actors, though I guess there was nothing to worry about. I really like the duets because it's always a different duo and hearing them singing together, harmonizing with each other, complimenting each other, just fills me with undescribable joy. Of course the songs also slap pretty much every time. Even by limiting my options to 1 troupe, I still wouldn't be able to pick only one favourite (I like the majority of Winter's song tho, like Shoutai is just 🤌 and my sibling blasted Unmasked non-stop so I can't get it outta my head anymore). Gosh, I was so excited for 'Double Solitaire' since it would complete trilogy of the Hyodosakas singing together. I was really looking forward to getting all the songs and I was even saving up for Summer Troupe's 6th play.

If I had to describe the game A3! in one word, it'd be "charming". Coming to game itself, there are so many little quirks, that on their own aren't anything groundbreaking or big but together give the game its own flair. Live 2D is pretty common to see nowdays in games because it brings the characters to life through movements like 3D models. But I think A3! is able to illustrate it just as well, if not even better with their 2D sprites. Citron moonwalked by flipping the image over and sliding across the screen, Hisoka appeared out of nowhere by coming from above the screen, they do a little jump when they're happy, they go down a bit when they're sad. And that's just things with their whole sprite. The little drops when Tsuzuru finds himself in an awkward situation or is worried, the little note when Sakuya is happy, the hearts when Kazunari is lowkey flirting with Izumi, it's so cute! Or Omi's O.O face, Taichi's crying face (the usual one, not his face when he cried out of guilt of betraying Mankai), Yuki's done expression, H O M A R E AHA! They each have at least one personalized expression and also quote. Can you hear Kazunari's Yoropiko~☆, Citron's humming, Taichi's loud ass whining and scream of terror, Tsumugi's awkawrd laugh? It's brimming with life.

But also the UI (?how it looks) is joyful. The main screen's background cascading shapes changes depending from which Troupe your current character is from, the loading screen has sakura petals and a bird, the colors are very bright and saturated fitting to the overall color palette of the whole game, the little notebook during practice showing all the necessary infomation and a little sketch by the characters. It's just really charming.

As frustrating as it was, not getting halloween Tsuzuru after 110 pulls or Valentine Omi after 120, it was my first time ever understanding why gachas are called hellholes. Through my strong connections to the characters, their cards automatically appealed to me more. But the art is also so good???? Azuma is always looking flawless obviously but Omi's unbloomed Wolf card, where he is standing in the sunset looking at his camera or Kazunari's Shinobi card, unbloomed all concentrated on his panting and bloomed all shiny smiling like the fireworks in the background? Breathtaking everytime. I also appreciate it not needing multiple copies to unlock the whole backstage story.

I think I'm slowly running out of things to say, which might be good for whoever managed to come this far. I have to say though, A3! helped me through the pandemic. Being a perfect distraction to the world's chaos and more importantly my crushing schoolwork and worries for personal future. I'm a very pessimistic person but seeing the characters overcoming their hardships through the help of their to-be "family" and just being happy doing trouble, gave me a little hope and light for a bit every day. I came to cherish everyone, even those I like the least. I haven't felt like this since Mystic Messenger, which was also a game, that helped me through a difficult time. I can only wish to a shooting star, that it's not the end for the EN Server yet. While yes, the JP server is thriving and I could just switch to reading fantranslation, through my experience, my enjoyment considerably sinks playing like that and I wish to fully enjoy A3!.

I like how your 3D rendering of Aziraphale looks so far but gosh he looks like a creepy yet endearing mix of a Telletubby and... some kind of doll or maybe Barney the dinosaur if you squint? Idk its super cool and he's kinda cute but a little uncanny too. Great job so far!

I've never done anything except download and open Blender once many eons ago and then almost immediately nope out of it because it was so complex and scary looking. I find it really amazing that people can create things that are 3D and they look like drawings but... kinda aren't. Idk but its just super cool to me. I used to watch some sped up YouTube vids where people made these insane and amazing creations in Blender and i was so blown away, I dont remember any channel names now but surely they're out there somewhere lol. But its been a long time so your stuff is my first recent dip back into the "awesome world of 3D creations" pool. I especially liked your Stardew farmhouse, that was so cool! Didn't you make that in Blender too? If I'm remembering correctly and you did, that's just. That's just awesome. It doesn't LOOK 3D but wow. Still so cool. It was so different from the actual game but still very easily recognizable (and its one of my favorite games and I might just about die for a Stardew AU fic lol though I haven't found one yet). It looked so nice and cozy and I loved the colors!

LOL yes 3D modelling characters is basically a process of putting up with the uncanny valley until you get to the part where you start working on the textures and lighting. One of the reasons I'm not particularly interested in photorealism in 3D modelling is that it's so, so difficult to really nail character art in that style, and I don't have the time or dedication to put into it. (The other reason is that I just really like toon and stylised art.)

All of my modelling is done in Blender, but I'm not modelling the characters themselves from scratch. I'm using Daz 3D, which comes with very customisable basic human figures and a lot of built-in pose and expression controls. I can set up characters in Daz by moving sliders around, much like on a game like the Sims, and then export the model to Blender to work on the clothes, hair, texturing, etc. The results are good enough for my current purposes, though there may come a time when I need to start pushing seriously towards modelling my own figures... we'll see. I did do the Stardew farmhouse entirely in Blender though! Speaking of which...

Ninty Direct Feb 2021 Thoughts

That was uh. Kind of disappointing, actually.

I suppose it was inevitable that we weren’t seeing Pokemon since they’re gonna do their own announcement. But like. Coulda done better here.

Anyway I wrote down everything they announced so here we go

Pyra/Mythra in Smash: I don’t give a single shit about the Xenoblade series, but it’s one of like 2 IPs Nintendo has had in the last decade so sure whatever they can have second a character as a treat. I’m mostly just annoyed this wasn’t a third-party character.

Fall Guys Switch: This feels inevitable. It also feels about 5 months too late.

Outer Wilds Switch: I’ve heard some absolutely excellent things about this game, so fair enough. I’m not sure I’d buy it on the Switch, but I haven’t bought it at all yet, so.

Famicom Detective Club: This looks like a Ren’py game if it had an actual budget, but still used Ren’py for some reason. Prooobably not biting on this one chief.

Samurai Warriors 5: The only Warriors game I’ve played is the first hyrule warriors, and the only Nobunaga game I’ve played was Pokemon Conquest (it’s a trip), so. I don’t understand the obsession they have over there for this bloke, like imagine if Australia made like a tv series a year and a large handful of video games about Ned Kelly or something.

Legend of Mana: Shit I should go play Octopath Traveler huh

Monster Hunter Rise: Those monster designs looked pretty kickass, and those human designs made me crack up laughing. I’ve never played Monster Hunter, and I don’t think this is gonna change that.

Mario Golf: Hey look they confirmed Waluigi as playable ahead of time so people wouldn’t complain, good job guys. The multiplayer of this looked silly as hell, but I’m not spending 80 bucks on wii sports tennis for a multiplayer mode ill drag my mates to play all of once before we go back to playing Beetle Adventure Racing.

Tales from the Borderlands: Wait telltale is still around? Ok…? I haven’t played Borderlands and don’t really care for the Telltale style so nah

Capcom Arcade Stadium: They could have made a peripheral like the NES/SNES mini, but they didn’t, and it’s for the best. The fact that one of the games is free implies to me that the rest are going to be overcosted, though.

Stubbs the Zombie: What the fuck am I looking at. Apparently this is a remaster of an old Xbox game, but I’ve never heard of it. Weird as fuck, but sure.

No More Heroes III: No more Heroes is a franchise that I’ve never played, but always wanted to. It seems right up my alley aesthetic-wise, and the gameplay looks pretty solid too- probably gonna try one of the older ones first, though.

Neon White: Speaking of aesthetic. This looks anime as fuck and edgy in a good way, and the gameplay looks real fun. I actually really want to check this out, and no, it’s not just because of the skull masked goth gf on the cover. (Doesn’t hurt, though.)

DC Super Hero Girls Teen Power: Jesus, this looks like a bad tie-in game from the mid 2000s. Not like Battle for Bikini Bottom, more like a Jimmy Neutron. And while I really liked the Jimmy Neutron game as a kid (shame about the show), this doesn’t look like it’ll stand up to that…high bar. Listening to this trailer made me want to die a little bit inside.

Plants Vs Zombies: Battle for Neighbourville: I miss PopCap. Peggle 3, never.

Miitopia: This looks cute, and will probably lead to the same sort of 3am DMs that happened with Tomodachi Life. If it’s a full priced game, it probably won’t sell at all.

Animal Crossing New Horizons Mario items: uhhh sure. Don’t have that game, so.

Triangle Strategy: Aww fuck it’s a final fantasy tactics that looks like octopath and it might have an actually good story, shiiiiiiiiit. I’m gonna give the demo a try before I land on this, but I’m optimistic.

Star Wars Hunters: When was the last time we had an actually good Star Wars game? And don’t say Fallen Order. Yeah, didn’t think so.

KO City: Ah, the bottom of the barrel. Didn’t think it would take this long. At this point, the pseudo-cartoony style everything has because they’re trying to ape Fortnite is extremely grating on me. (I definitely thought this ad was for Fortnite stuff at first)

World’s End Club: OK this one has me actually hyped. I knew that Kodaka (director/writer of the Danganronpa series) and Uchikoshi (director/writer of the Zero Escape series) were working on a joint project, and we’re finally seeing the results. Both of them have multiple excellent games under their respective belts, and this new game looks like a fun spin on what I’m sure a lot of people were expecting from the pair. Literally both of them have made a game where (spoilers I guess, Keara stop reading here you haven’t played VLR yet) there’s a death game going on while the characters are unaware the world fucking ended, so to see the idea of the death game getting interrupted and the characters actually having to live in the dead world is really cool. I’m paying cloooose attention to this one.

Hades (Physical Release): Dang now if I buy hades I can choose to have some of my money go to EB games or JB hifi or something. Cooooooooooooool.

Ninja Gaiden Collection: This just made me wonder why Ryu Hayabusa isn’t in Smash yet. Is it because there’s already a Ryu?

Age of Calamity DLC: I don’t think I mentioned this in my post yesterday, but I would have put money on DLC for this game coming out. I still haven’t played it, but the first Hyrule Warriors had so much fucking DLC so this was inevitable in my eyes.

Bravely Default 2: Uhhh its another JRPG man idk what you want me to say. Didn’t play the first one, apparently its good.

Ghosts n Goblins Resurrection: Kinda funny having this next to the free original in the Capcom Arcade Stadium. Capcom is reviving old franchises, I guess? Where’s Mega Man Battle Network, cowards?

SaGa Frontier: I’ve heard good things about the SaGa series, but this looks awful. Not like gameplay wise, the style for the models and shit in game just disinterests me.

Apex Legends: Is anyone still playing this game?

BOTW 2 (no news): I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed. Next Direct, I guess.

Skyward Sword HD: I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed.

Seriously though, I was expecting 3 of the best Zeldas ever made to get ports, and we got the one that I wasn’t interested in. Fuck you too, I guess.

Splatoon 3: I actually was super interested in this, seeing as the trailer looked like it was gonna be for some like… side game, 3D RPG or something, exploring the origins of the Splatoon world? But then it’s just Splatoon 3. And like, I know people really like that series, but it never appealed to me. The world is neat! But I’m not interested in the series as it is.

So... Did you hear about the new TWEWY game coming out yet?

Oooohhhh boy. Neo. I have heard about Neo, and I’m not happy.

Let me start by saying that Sho Minamimoto is my favorite character. I love him SO much. And every single reason for this lies in his villainy (no matter what a younger, more morality-obsessed me would try to tell you). This is a young rebel who decides he wants to fight God and rule over all dead people in this city. He asserts his dominance by chucking Dadaist trash piles all over the place and going “This is MINE because I put my TRASH here!” He’s an utter slimeball and that’s why he’s ENJOYABLE to me.

 I do not see any of this magic being recaptured so long as he has to play nice with the hero team.

 Maybe he won’t be redeemed. He could be the Token Evil Teammate – though that still wouldn’t allow him as much freedom and fun as his days of roping angels and the FORBIDDEN type of evil encounter monster into a grand conspiracy. Or he could be a Twist Villain, but let’s be real – modern media is never that obvious about who the twist bad guy is.

 (Except No Straight Roads, which understood that a predictable Twist Villain is an effective one. ILSYM NSR. But that studio is considerably smaller than Squenix and can do what it wants, like allowing its voice actors to say a queer ship the fans made is good. Oh, I long for the day when a Squenix developer will actually validate even ONE of our gay ships in FF or KH.)

 The other thing is that I only very recently just checked out A New Day’s scenes. Like, a week ago. Remember when I put up that edit of Coco Atarashi x Symonne from Tales of Zestiria? That’s the timeframe to mark. Listen. I grew up on old-school TWEWY on the DS. I never played any of the Remixes. So after seeing enough content of Coco on my dash, I was like “I should actually watch the epilogue that has this cool Reaper who pretends to be cute but isn’t” (an archetype I like a lot these days).

 The thing about A New Day is that we live in a post-KHIII world, which kinda affects how I view all of Squenix. A New Day felt like KHIII levels of complication. Not like the “KH is complicated” jokes of old in which it was just long and had lots of continuity so people were like “This is too much to keep track of” (which it wouldn’t have been if they’d packaged the Remix games on the same console from the start, but I digress). As in how in III and the prequel/Daybreak era, Nomura and his crew have started throwing in alternate realities and time travel because they keep getting bored with the plot they’re doing now and want to make it something else. You know what else KHIII did a lot of? Villain redemptions. Vexen, who is even dearer to me than Sho, became not only a hero, but a hero who lost all of his personality. Most fanfics I’ve seen that deal with his redemption at least keep him in character to who Vexen used to be. But canon decided he doesn’t even have a personality anymore, and so you wonder why I’m worried about Sho?

 Also to consider: the fact that KHIII insists on tying itself to TWEWY lore. I just want to forget the worst parts of that game, but canon won’t let me, the fandom won’t let me, and I’m SURE Neo won’t let me. Neo is going to remind me that Sora yeeted himself into the sun because one (1) of his friends was important than the entire collective of the other people who love him and it’s probably going to have to do with him running around somewhere.

 Or it won’t. After all, there’s no hint of that. There’s also no hint it’s going to resolve the cliffhanger from A New Day. Neku is nowhere to be found, even though Sho was supposed to be his partner. Coco is nowhere to be seen. Sho’s existence and the naming of Hype-Chan are the only proof I have that AND is going to be followed up on at all (BTW, “Tsugumi”? Nothing objectively wrong with it; I’m just so deep in the DanganRonpa hole that I will constantly say “Tsumugi” by accident). And maybe the other stuff’s hidden because the crew is guarding spoilers, but those are all plot threads we very clearly expected as of AND, so there’s nothing to spoil if you cut your footage right. It seems so backward to me that we have to design a whole new crew of characters to take over the story to finish a plot that involves Neku somehow. (Though Nomura is designing them and again, he gets bored with what he’s doing so quickly and wants to move onto the next thing, which means he should really just start making different series or oneshots instead of trying to pack it all into one. TWEWY was best when it was a standalone thing with no worry of series rot.)

 It also just feels unfair to me that it has this whole 3D battle system and OG TWEWY just got its 2D system in high-def. Maybe this is because a couple months ago, I was having a chat with a friend about “If you were a game developer, what would you do” and I came up with this whole way to translate the TWEWY UI into the stuff of a fully voice-acted and animated 3D game, and now Neo is halfway there, and obviously the OG could have been translated to this, but it hasn’t been, and you need to understand OG TWEWY in order to get Neo’s plot, so why can’t we streamline them both? REALLY remake OG TWEWY into something that matches its successor? I just love the story and characters of classic TWEWY, and I’d sooner see that all polished up on a new platform and made accessible to a new audience of gamers than just blowing on to a new cast and a plot that I’m really not sure will be good.

 But in the end, if Sho Minamimoto is fun, I’ll be happy, and I’m afraid he won’t be. I’m afraid he’ll either go full antihero or be diluted into “evil, but only in his words” by the ball-and-chain of the party around him. Oh, and did I mention I’m gonna be real mad when we eventually have to deal with how Sora fits into this?

 I do really, really love Sho’s new coat, though. Like…an insane amount. I might actually reblog fanart of him in that coat if people are drawing it because as much as I am not excited for this game, the costume design is already gorgeous.

Rhythm aspect is harder than Love Live (it adds slide and flick notes from the beginning) and it has 25(?) characters as opposed to Love Live’s 18 (+9 if you include Nijigasaki but they have their own game) And you can give your characters costumes!!)

Rhythm game focused on team building? Love Live School Idol Festival All Stars (The new version of LLSIF, it doesn’t place a heavy focus on rhythm. It focuses on gathering characters, strategically making teams, and reading the story, which is pretty good btw. Oh, and 3D dances. And costumes.)

Rhythm game with boys? IDOLiSH7 (Currently only in JP) (If you can understand Japanese, the story is godly. It has an anime that's on its second season. If you can’t understand Japanese, watch the anime or read the story translations on the internet.)

Other rhythm games with boys? Ensemble Stars, Hypnosis Mic (Both currently only in JP) (I’ve only played EnStars, not HypMic, but I know that they both are really good and you should definitely give them a try.)

Rhythm game with Vocaloid? Project Sekai ft. Hatsune Miku (JP only) (Bang Dream also has Vocaloid covers) (I’m obsessed with this rn. It's fairly easy to use even if you can’t read Japanese, as opposed to IDOLiSH7 or EnStars. This is because it's really similar to Bang Dream (They were both made by Craft Egg). But give it a try, I love this game a lot!)

Don’t like idols or rhythm games? A3 (You make a team of actors. No rhythm aspect (I don’t think, I’ve not played in a year) but the story is great, the characters are great, minigames, and you can cast your characters in plays and watch them! They are so cute!)

Open-world adventure? Genshin Impact (Okay, do I really need to explain this one? It's like all over the community right now. It's so good I’m honestly surprised that it's free!)

Retro Fighting? Grand Summoners (They do collabs with lots of anime. When I left, tehy were doing Golden Kamuy.)

Mythological? Onmyoji (My best friend plays this and I have heard nothing but good things. The seiyuus are great too.)

Puzzle game? Beyblade Burst Rivals (I’m not even kidding, this game is so much fun like wtf? I’m pretty sure it goes from Beyblade Burst to Beyblade Burst Cho-Z (Turbo))

Like card games? Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links (This game is awesome for those who like Yu-Gi-Oh. And if you want to get into it, the game offers lots of tutorials. There’s so many cards and archetypes, and there are like 4-5 worlds you can alternate between. The Ranked duels get pretty competitive.)

Hey all good! And y’know... its kind of up in the air right now. I REALLY love making ego content, don’t get me wrong haha. And I don’t think I’m going to stop? The only thing is is that I’m in 3D animation and Design college rn. So that’s been sadly taking up most of my time this year, and it’s also where a lot of my motivation goes. I’ve been honestly thinking about answering questions on my Anti blog. I’ve been rping with him and other egos with my gf for a while now so it’s not like I’m out of practice. But yes I will be posting a majority of ego art here and there. ALSO: for the record I’m never gonna delete my old art dont u worry ❤️💖❤️💖❤️

Right now I actually have a backlog of art of my Marvin OC x Jackie (my wonderful gf’s OC version @carpe-collum-natem ). Mostly sketches and also just to make my beautiful gf smile but I wasn’t sure if it was relevant to my blog, but I think I shouldn’t be so picky about it if I’m transforming it into something new. So if you or anyone wants to see some cute magician x hero smooches or more anti x chase lmk I’ve got a few - my DM’s are open to you also! I could probably show you more of what I may not post here.

As much as this answer is already long lol, here is what I’m working on right now to get up on the blog within the next few months. I really do want to be more active.

1. The Wilford Animatic, which will feature a poem by the lovely and very talented @scarlet-pan (release date: unknown.... but I’m hoping by the end of summer. My courseload is down to 3 classes a week so I’m hoping that will help)

2. More art redos of Dark and Wilford and Anti. I really wanna do more side by sides of my old arts of them! The feeling of improvement only feeds my power! 😳✨

3. Whatever else any of you would like to request I could try and get done on the side, but unfortunately I can’t guarantee. But I always appreciate suggestions!
