I love the way they approached Ozai and how they are showing him manipulating his children against one another even though they're hundreds and hundreds of miles apart. The way the original animated series approached Azula by showing us her perfect façade first and then cracking it was phenomenal, but the live action series showing us her doubts and how she works to forge that perfect façade is also phenomenal so far, because it gives her additional depth that wasn't as explored in the og series, but in all honestly, who's to say what they're showing in the la didn't happen that way off screen? It probably did.
I feel like a lot of the criticisms of giving this greater nuance and humanity to Ozai are wanting there to be a clear delineation of "who is a villain" and "who isn't a villain" for someone who has done such terrible things as Ozai has. But the truth of the matter is: there are no monsters. There are only humans. And humans do terrible things to one another. Humans can be loving and doting to one child and horrifically abuse another for no seeming reason. Humans who comport themselves rationally to everyone else can be absolutely terrible to their families in private. They can be insidious about it. They can believe they're showing love or "building character" or shaping someone into a better person, but it's really abuse.
People who commit heinous acts to individuals—including ones they [claim to] love—sometimes have convinced themselves that it was for the best, or for the other person's benefit, or that they were acting in the best way they could have. And they look and act like everyone else.
SPOILERS for Episode 6 of the Avatar Live Action series
AKA why this episode makes me SO grateful for this adaptation (re: the Zuko flashbacks and the Agni Kai).
----
Wow.
I admit, I was really worried at the idea that Zuko might potentially fight back in the Agni Kai against his father in the live action. I expected to HATE it, and it's certainly a bold change, but it fits in SO WELL with why Zuko is the way that he is (and why he works so hard to push down his empathy whenever Aang tries to reason with him).
The Agni Kai - Zuko obviously did NOT want to fight his father. He still tried to apologize and beg for mercy, but in the end he was just too terrified of his father to disobey a direct order.
But when Ozai left him an opening to see what he'd do with it, Zuko couldn't bring himself to actually land a blow that might burn him. Making his lack of ruthlessness the weakness that Ozai ends up mutilating him for - even straight up telling Zuko that compassion is weakness and then demonstrating by holding his own child down and lighting him on fire - adds a layer of depth that only enhances the original scene (and in another stroke of genius, we see Ozai nearly in tears himself. He's convincing himself of this lesson as well as Zuko, which was likely passed down to him by his own father). Honestly, this to me is even more heartbreaking than Ozai burning him for refusing to stand and fight. Zuko did everything his father asked and he still failed, because his family has distorted what it means to be honorable and believes Zuko's capacity for mercy to be a shameful weakness unbecoming of an heir to the throne.
The 41st Division - And here come the waterworks. Assigning the very people Zuko was hurt so severely for trying to save to his ship as it's being cast out of the fire nation (presumably forever, with the Avatar not having been seen in 100 years) is SUCH a brilliant addition. His crew resents Zuko for being stuck on this impossible mission with this bratty, angry child. And Zuko is too ashamed of his "weakness" to explain why they were assigned to him.
I can totally see Zuko's hurt at their lack of respect making him even more angry (especially after everything he went through to save them from being sacrificed), and his seemingly irrational anger at them just continuing to make them resent him more in a neverending feedback loop of anger and disrespect that's been growing and festering for 3 years.
Which makes the scene at the end when Zuko's crew finally learns about how he saved their lives (as well as why he's obsessed with the avatar, why he's banished, what his scar means and why he's trying so very hard to rid himself of empathy, even if he can never quite manage it when it counts) so much more impactful. I SOBBED when the 41st Division stood at attention and showed him their utmost respect and loyalty, possibly for the first time since they've been on that ship. Zuko's soft "what's going on?" at finally being honored by his crew is just imprinted on my brain.
The seed of the idea that his compassion may NOT actually be what was shameful about his banishment afterall can finally begin to take root.
I just, damn, I love this episode so much.

Live Action: Thoughts and Etc. Episode 1
Whenever some new AtLA surge happens, whether animation renaissance or new series, I rise again from the grave and this time is no different.
This isn't anything formal, but I wanted to collect my thoughts as I go through rewatching episodes. I'm still not done with an initial watching of the new live action, but I've started rewatching the first couple of episodes anyway to note down what I liked about what the new series is doing and also where I think the narrative could have been stronger.
I don't mean this as a critique of the show on any other level other than on a narrative level—I'm not a film or visual studies person; my forte is in storytelling.
I also didn't want my reactions to just be seeming criticism, because there is a lot that I really like about the show (especially as I get deeper in episodes), so just consider this an initial reaction & thoughts on what could have been improved upon. So far, the first two episodes have been the weakest to me, which is really unfortunate because I worry a lot of people won't get beyond them. I know my opinion and thoughts don't matter because a) I'm not part of any kind of decision-making group that could actively affect this and b) it's already done with and out and it's not going to be changed, but we all love meta and thoughts around here, right? Right.
The format of these I'm imagining as follows: I'll go over what I liked or loved first, because there's more and more as episodes go on, and you should always, always start with what you appreciate and enjoyed about a work first before going into what might be improved upon. Next, I'll go into where I felt the narrative could have been improved upon, just from what I know with my Literature™ and in-progress MFA™ eyeballs. Finally, if applicable, what I personally didn't care for that doesn't actually impact the narrative one way or another. This final section will be potentially be under a cut if the post is too long. Everything will be noted as I do my second watch of the series, and will be in chronological order. I don't know that I'll have time to do proper paragraphs, so I hope a list format will be acceptable to anyone who's made it this far and remains interested in my thoughts.
Of course, this will contain spoilers for each episode, and all posts will be tagged "atla la ep#" and "atla la ep# spoilers" (where the # in each tag will be the corresponding episode number) so folks can blacklist as needed.
Now, on to the main event—
What I liked:
-The settings are lush and gorgeous! Holy moly! -The costumes are phenomenal so far. Absolutely fantastic. -Even if some of the actors are a little stiff, I am loving all of them. -Loved the airbenders fighting back. No notes. -The dialogue between Iroh and Aang in the brig is actually perfectly nuanced. I really like it. -REALLY love Aang pilfering Zuko's Avatar journal -Also love Katara being the one to extinguish Zuko's final fire blast with her waterbending. Setting up that good rivalry between them in s1. -I like the expansion of the SWT village and Katara being in the old FN ship in lieu of the otter penguin sledding scene -Love Zuko being an artist. I like to think it's a nice, early nod to learning under Piandao
What Could be Improved Narratively:
-Stop the Sozin scene right after he burns the earthbender -When Gyatso has Aang in the room with Yangchen's statue, the exchange should have stopped with: "You have always been special." "I never asked to be special." "But you are," and the writing should have allowed Aang to put together that he is the Avatar without explicitly saying "Aang, you are the Avatar." If they took that line out and let the silence hang and then taken out all explicit statements of "You are the Avatar," so they would have been talking around actually saying it, it would have improved the scene. -Remove Aang's little monologue with Appa before the fly off except for maybe hugging Appa and saying, "I'm scared" -Show Aang and Appa getting caught in the storm. There's a very small missing piece of that scene. -Could pare down the exposition in Zuko & Iroh's argument about following the light to not explicitly say "and take my rightful place as heir," as Iroh saying "it may be time to consider the throne isn't everything," and Zuko replying, "Maybe it wasn't to you" does that work. BUT I actually don't think this is as clunky as other dialogue-exposition parts. -Either excise Aang's flashbacks to saving himself with the Avatar state before he wakes or remove it from earlier in the episode; we don't need it twice. -the WT kids running outside of the village to play is awkward. Why wouldn't they play inside the walls? If it's so Appa wouldn't land inside the village, this is easily solved by having Aang airbend over the walls when searching for Appa. -I know Kanna's monologue about the FN attacking is an homage to the original, but it feels hamhanded. I would excise it. Remove everything she says in this scene in the tribe meeting except, "The last time a comet was seen was 100 years ago." -Honestly, excise most of Kanna's dialogue. It's all hamhanded exposition; we're seeing the "hand of the author(s)" here. When Zuko's ship arrives all she has to say is, "They're looking for him." Let the reveal be Katara saying it to Sokka when he's going to give Aang up. -Replace the repeated scenes with Gyatso when Aang discovers his skeleton with other memories. We don't need a rehash of something in the same episode.
What I Personally Did Not Care For:
-I want bigger fire from the firebenders. It's a comet that powers them up ffs. -Katara needs to express a great desire to learn waterbending in this episode somewhere -Sokka and Katara being caught in a current should have been from Katara's angry paddling to echo her angry waterbending from the original -I also wouldn't reveal Kya's death in flashback flashes so early -When Zuko sees Aang for the first time it's a perfectly missed opportunity for "You're just a kid!" "Yeah, well you're just a teenager!" -Unsure why Katara said, "The thing about losing everything is that's when you find out how strong you are" instead of something like, "I can't imagine how this must feel. But you don't have to be alone. We're here with you."

... is an upcoming Choicescript interactive fiction game! You can follow development updates on the dev blog here, view the forum page here, and play the demo here.
Villain Intern is currently on Chapter One: Onboarding as of 9/8/24, sitting at just over 30,000 words.
[FAQ Here and character introductions here, for the newer villains!]
Play as an aspiring supervillain interning at UnderHand, a legacy criminal corporation. Start from the bottom and navigate a world where everyone has it out for you, leveraging your strange superhuman abilities and your knack for manipulation. Make a name for yourself as an executive villain (with your own swanky corner office!), or turn against your higher-ups and usurp the company,…or throw away your promising career for the greater good, I guess...
Powers and Customization:
Choose from two different ability trees. Play as either a homemade cyborg with (painful looking) mechanical augmentations of your own design, or a genetically mutated freak with mysterious, bizarre abilities derived from animal genes. Choose 3 of the 9 unique abilities available for each power type, which update (or mutate) to scale as you get stronger. Climb walls, perfectly mimic any voice, rotate your head 360 degrees, talk to the AI assistant in your brain, etc etc! As a rule, you start out villainous, but whether you’re charming or sinister, sniveling or demanding, and backstabbing or frontstabbing is up to you.
______________________________________________________________
Key Characters and Relationships
Relationship progression tracks two major stats- your connection with a character, and your rivalry, which are not mutually exclusive. So you can romance your greatest nemesis, backstab your closest friend, that kind of thing. Or both at once, with the same person, even..
Fellow Interns:
👾 Peter Hyde is your cubicle neighbor, a geeky slackoff who’s fond of novelty ties. Unlike you, Peter doesn’t really want to be here, but he seems for some reason unable to quit. Laid-back, conflict avoidant, and generally easy to manipulate, he’s easy minion material for the MC- but his attitude belies a volatile, monstrous secret. Which can be a great asset or a major risk, depending on if you can maintain your control over him.
🤖 T9-670 is a seven-foot tall ex-war machine. Once a military member conscripted to UnderHand’s private security decal, its contract didn’t end when it died- the soldier’s brain was transplanted into a humanoid steel frame with a dark glass plate for a face. T9 is doing some soul searching- it’s not totally sure if it even has one left, but it would like to have a purpose beyond fixing printers and mowing down UnderHand’s enemies with its plasma gun.
🔬 Dr. Dr. Elaine Foster is an up-and-coming mad scientist, assistant to the esteemed Dr. Shrink. Don’t bring up the fact that she has two doctorates and is still an intern. She’s a genius prodigy, but otherwise has no superhuman abilities, which causes her to be overlooked by your superiors. Passionate and inscrutable, she’s obsessed with making it to the top her own way, and will remain one step ahead of you if you aren’t careful.
🧪 Reid/Reney Sullivan (gender selectable, nb included) is your nemesis, or at least they think so. They’re employed by OverSight, the subsidized hero-corporation that works in tandem with the government. An interning hero with impressive telekinetic powers, they are nonetheless as much of an amateur as you, and so you find yourself on even footing with one of the most promising superheroes in the business. Earnest and witty, they genuinely just want to help people. Eventually, they become fixated on “figuring you out”, which can lead to them getting sucked into your schemes. That, or their meddling could be your downfall. Worst of all, they might even succeed in reforming you.
There’s also 👁️ Blink, a rogue superhuman- some say vigilante, others say independent villain. Completely anonymous, they wear a unique suit of tactical gear that allows them to turn completely invisible, the first of its kind. Quippy, chipper, and sauntering, they tend to use their powers for ridiculous, showy things like popping up behind newscasters on TV. An invisible superhuman that loves the spotlight, Blink is full of contradictions. And secrets, big ones, that pertain to you.
… plus a cast of older, more established villains and heroes- including The Man, UnderHand’s enigmatic CEO. A faceless, hollow man in an empty suit. Actually, nobody’s ever seen anything but the suit, so he might just be the suit.

It's also quite interesting because we can see that Katara does trust Zuko with what she tells him she's "watching" for when he joins them in the Western Air Temple: trying to kidnap or harm Aang. But at this point during The Southern Raiders, Zuko has gone off alone with Aang for at least a day and night, and she had no qualms about it other than teasing them for the name of the Sun Warrior bending forms. Zuko has also gone off alone with Sokka for at least the same amount of time, if not longer, so it can't be that she doesn't trust Zuko with others in their group either.
I think they both know, even if they don't admit it, it's about the connection they shared in the crystal catacombs more than anything else. It's personal, and even if Zuko is a bit dense at first, I think he absolutely realizes what is hurting her between them most as soon as she mentions Ba Sing Se, even if he never articulates it. (He's still struggling to figure out why he cares so much about what she thinks of him, as he tells Sokka.)
“this isn’t fair! everyone else seems to trust me now. what is it with you?”
i hate how this line gets treated by zuko/zutara antis as evidence of zuko acting entitled to her forgiveness and him being in the wrong for the whole epiosde.
for one thing: zuko doesn’t even ask for her forgiveness here, let alone demand it. he sees the issue as being one of trust, and he is genuinely trying to figure out why she, specifically, doesn’t seem to trust him when he’s that’s the biggest reason he imagines for her reacting the way she is, and the rest of the gaang does. it’s only when she brings up ba sing se that he realizes how badly he hurt her on an emotional level, how she wanted to trust him then.
do i think he wants her forgiveness? well, yeah! he cares about what she thinks of him, he literally says it. but he doesn’t demand it of her; he is genuinely trying to figure out how to resolve this conflict.
and hey, i’m willing to own up to the fact that “this isn’t fair” isn’t a great opening line on that front, and that there’s a level of immaturity to it. katara’s behavior toward him was extremely understandable. but people act like zuko spends the entire episode acting that way when, upon katara’s response, he grows visibly remorseful, asks what he can do to make it up to her, and spends the rest of the episode trying to help her.
i’m also just a little defensive of zuko’s right to be immature, i guess. i feel like an unfair expectation gets put on him, by his detractors, that if he shows he’s still at all flawed in some way or another, that nullifies his redemption. and that’s just not how it works? he’s still a teenager, and a traumatized one, at that. he’s still learning, still working through a lot, and he’s certainly not always going to know the right thing to say or do. it does matter that he’s trying, even if he doesn’t always get it exactly right.

BALLROOM ENCOUNTERS
CHARACTERS: Ciel Phantomhive
SUMMARY: Ballrooms are meant for dancing, but a young boy attending your party doesn't seem to agree with that statement. I wonder why that is?
NOTES: I'm trying to write newer fics so I can delete my older works and redo my masterlists. It's like a complete overwrite of my blog essentially, I can't wait until it's done! It feels like my writing has gotten much better, and although they did get interaction before, I don't really want to keep old writing on my blog!! :(
CONTENT: Female Reader
────────── ʚ♡ɞ ──────────
⟶ CIEL PHANTOMHIVE !
A ball, you had decided to host that night. You weren't too enthusiastic about the task of finding a suitor, but that's the weight that comes with being a lady of high status. Although you were young, prearranged marriages were common amongst aristocrats, you were no exception.
However, you drew the high end of the stick, and your parents were generous enough to allow you to attempt to find a suitor for yourself. They would have to approve of course, considering you were to be the next family heir, they wouldn't want you going off marrying someone without a well-known name. You weren't too upset about this condition anyways given that it was to be expected.
The task proved harder than you had assumed, but there was no pressure coming from any higher-ups, so you were in the clear for now. Still, it's better to start searching before your times of leisure end. The whole purpose of this ball, though not directly stated in any sent invitations, was to make the looking process a bit easier on yourself.
Interchanging melodies played in the ballroom as you chatted away with some of your guests, not finding anything that stood out to you in most. It wasn't like you were looking for a fairytale, although a girl could dream, just someone who wouldn't bore you to death. You had just finished up a conversation with a young man a bit older than you. He was polite and charming, but nothing special.
You let out a barely audible sigh once he turned and walked off in the direction of a crowd, feeling as though this mission was never-ending. You scanned slowly over the people chattering and indulging in food prepared for the party, until something caught your eye. A young boy who looked to be your age, and on the short side. He was dressed in a black and navy-blue formal suit with silver accents and held a stern expression on his face.
He must've been a wallflower, because he didn't seem to be in a hurry to engage in any conversation with other guests. A tall, elegant man stood by his side in classy servant's attire. Your curiosity was at a peak for the night, your feet guiding you effortlessly towards the pair. The young boy noticed you approaching and redirected his gaze elsewhere, most likely in an attempt to seem uninterested.
You ignored the indirectly rude gesture and sent him a smile, a sudden realization coming over you. This was the Earl Phantomhive you've heard about time and time again. You'd sent him an invitation, but you didn't actually expect him to attend. "Earl Phantomhive, so nice to meet you. I wasn't expecting you to show up," you greeted. He inaudibly sighed, his refined butler standing tall next to him edging him on.
"Yes, and you must be Lady [Surname]? It's nice to meet you as well, though I do question your low expectations of me," he spoke, although you couldn't tell whether it was sarcasm or seriousness. "Ah, I'm sorry. I just meant since you have such high status, I wouldn't have expected you to be bothered to attend a ball without business intentions." The Earl seemed bothered, as if he was internally agreeing with your statement.
The dashing butler beside him spoke up, "You see, my young master and I were notified that you were in search of a suitor. He is in a similar situation at the moment, and I do recall him speaking of you fondly," a devilish smirk played on his lips, watching his young master's face quickly become flushed, "So we decided it would be for the best to be in attendance in case you take any interest."
"I see," a smile tugged at your lips upon learning that the Earl Phantomhive had taken an interest in you, although you can't recall ever having met him before this encounter, "would you be so kind as to spare me a dance then, Earl Phantomhive?" The color seemed to drain from the boy's face as he searched for an excuse of some sort. He sighed, then slowly taking a breath, "I suppose so..." His butler chuckled, watching him take your hand and guide you into the crowd.
"You can address me as Ciel if you like," he said, not meeting your eyes. "Good to know! You can call me [Name]," you said with a smile as you moved your hands to proper position. The slow, romantic melody began playing throughout the ballroom and your feet moved in turn. Only a few steps in, you realized why Ciel had been so hesitant to dance with you. His movement lacked grace and he seemed incredibly nervous, making steps that didn't match the rhythm every now and then.
You held in a laugh and finally met his eyes, "So, Ciel, have you been caught up on your dancing lessons?" His cheeks flushed and he mumbled something that didn't catch your ears, "What was that?" you teased. "No, now will you be quiet?" he said in a tone that suggested he was less serious, and more embarrassed. You giggled and tried to help guide him further. As annoyed as he was, he did appreciate your efforts nonetheless.
Once the song concluded, his hands lingered on your form for a moment before taking a step back and kneeling to press his soft lips to your knuckles. "Thank you for the dance, my lady." He couldn't help the slight upwards curling of his lips when you smiled down at him with half lidded eyes. "My pleasure, Ciel." He stood and took your hand once again, guiding you towards where his butler took watching from afar.
"It's not very often I enjoy myself at a ball, I thank you for inviting me. Consider this a formal invitation to the Phantomhive Manor tomorrow to spend some leisure time together." He leaned closer and pressed a delicate kiss onto your cheek. Some heads turned towards you in surprise, taking in the rare scene before them. "I will gladly accept your invitation then," you responded with a giggle. He smiled and turned on his heel with his butler following behind, walking off towards the exit without another word. Maybe, you had found the fairytale you were subconsciously hoping for.

I made an updated ref for my iterator OC Three Stars Above Clouds! Not much has changed since I designed them earlier this year, but I figured it was useful to make a more detailed ref sheet (primarily for my own convenience).
I’ve included some extra biographical info as well as my region map for TSAC’s internals, as well as what their can looks like from the outside, and the inside of their puppet chamber.
I have an in-character ask blog for TSAC over here. Give it a look! I love exploring their character and I'm having a lot of fun.
Some additional links:
TSAC's original ref (contains an extended backstory as well)
TSAC's region map (contains descriptions of the subregions and connections)
TSAC's facility grounds map (details their surrounding area and explains the purposes of each section)
TSAC's general tag on my main blog (misc. info and musings)
A transcription for the text in the images plus some additional notes can be found under the cut.
[ First image - a standard character reference sheet ]
Three Stars Above Clouds
Experimental mountaintop iterator created to catalogue and study celestial objects. Iterator of the Institute-Metropolis of Zenith*. Director of the Zenith Stellar Observatory Consortium and Lead Archivist of the Zenith Data Archives. they/them
Three Stars Above Clouds is an iterator- a massive biomechanical superstructure and supercomputer designed by the "Ancient" civilization to search for a true Solution for Global Ascension.
Three Stars Above Clouds ('TSAC' for short, occasionally 'Three Stars' or rarely just 'Stars') was created by a Firmamentalist** splinter group of Ancients who believed that the Solution could only be found in the sky. TSAC was created to be an advanced stellar observatory, meticulously cataloguing and analyzing all manner of night sky phenomena, as well as a home and institute of learning for the researchers, scholars, and priests of the Firmamentalist sect.
[ Second image - A drawing of TSAC facing away from the viewer, next to an extended description ]
TSAC might not share all of their creators' beliefs, but believes their assigned task of recording and studying the sky to be of upmost importance. They take this responsibility very seriously and value it above all else.
As a result, they are quite reclusive, always too busy with work to talk to anyone. Before the Global Ascension Event, the majority of their social contact was with high-ranking researchers and priests from Zenith, as well as brief, professional conversations with other iterators in their field to discuss theories and compare data. Because all of their social development was in a formal academic setting, they have a polite, professional, almost robotic tone (even by iterator standards).
Despite this, TSAC is not actively antisocial. They enjoy talking to others, and enjoy education in particular. However their intense focus on their work and sheltered upbringing meant they very rarely initiated social contact, only responding if spoken to first. After the Global Ascension Event, TSAC became even more reclusive, choosing only to listen to broadcasts and rarely speaking publicly, if ever.
In the absence of their creators, TSAC was no longer in charge of managing everyday life in the city of Zenith and found themself with free time for the first time in ages. Their self reflections during this time, combined with the worsening decay of the global iterator communications network, made TSAC realize that they barely knew their fellow iterators, and they decided to try and get to know them before they lost the chance.
---
*Zenith is the name of the city atop TSAC's can. It is home to several colleges, research institutes, and observatories.
**The Firmamentalists are the name I came up with for the group that created TSAC. They share much of the same religious beliefs as the rest of Ancient society, but believe that the Solution can only be found by searching the sky (aka the firmament). I'll assume that Firmamentalists or other like-minded splinter groups created other similar astronomy-focused iterators.
The Firmamentalist society of Zenith places a focus on education and the acquisition of knowledge, and considers anything related to learning holy. To learn is to better understand the nature of the carnal plane, as well as how to ascend beyond it. Three Stars Above Clouds was created to aid them in this task.

do you have any tips for making a more welcoming/friendly headspace? over the past four years where we've known about our plurality, every headspace we've succeeded in creating has been... kind of gloomy, and impersonal, almost? one was a dimly lit room with dark hallways and such, and everything looked kind of run down and broken. our current one is a lot more clean and purposeful, but it kind of has the same energy as a school or work building, with cold overhead lights and very little decoration. it also has the same issue with long hallways that look kind of creepy and ominous. these places have/had pretty chill vibes i think, but they look like the setting for a psychological horror movie, despite the fact that we didn't originally visualize them that way •́ ‿ ,•̀
-🦇/🦀
Hiya! We think that headspaces can work a bit differently for different systems, but visualization and imagination are usually big parts of the headspace-creation process! They might sometimes need to require some conscious maintenance in order to preserve their vibes. Occasionally areas of our own headspace can get a bit fuzzy or change in unwanted ways if we don’t spend time consciously working on them and adjusting them to reflect how we want them to appear! >w<
That being said, maybe y’all can try setting aside some time like once a week or something to work on changing the vibes of your headspace? By doing things like imagining what you want for your headspace or even actively doing construction work internally!
If you’re looking for inspiration, Pinterest and Unsplash are both great places to search for images that fit a certain aesthetic, scenery, or vibe! And we also set up the blog @headspace-visuals recently where we will do our best to help folks find some images to help inspire their headspace building process :33
If you haven’t before, it could be useful to check out some guides on building headspaces! In our headspace post we include links where folks can learn more about headspaces with tips for building their own >w<
Headspaces can be really really vast, and I do think some systems have headspaces which are not so easily adjusted or changed. We aren’t sure how y’all’s headspace works, but if you find you can’t really consciously change much about your headspace, maybe y’all could try leaving to find a different area to settle? And keep in your mind an idea of what you’d like to find ideally so that you’re more likely to stumble across it? Idk, this is just a thought!
But we do hope this helps somewhat! We hope y’all can find success with improving the vibes of your headspace! And if anyone else who reads this has tips for 🦇/🦀, please feel welcome to share! :3

Incident Summary:
On September 30, 2024, at approximately 12:00 AM, my daughter Luca Montoya was abducted outside the AMESS Detective Agency located at 13 Langford Lane, London. The suspect, Eurus Holmes, is the cousin of Luca’s roommate, Koya Oshiro. The motive behind the abduction remains unknown, although this seems to be a crime of passion driven by a need for entertainment. Luca’s last known contact was with her secretary, Jacob Duke, who she was on her way to pick up from a nightclub at the time of the incident.
Investigation:
Initial Response: After Luca failed to return from her midnight stroll from the AMESS agency, I and Koya Oshiro attempted to reach her but received no response. Surveillance footage showed that Luca had been approached by unknown subjects at exactly 12:00 AM before being forced into a waiting vehicle. Further investigation revealed that Luca had been en route to pick up her secretary, Jacob Duke, from a nightclub. Jacob Duke confirmed that Luca had contacted him approximately 30 minutes prior to the incident, and she never arrived. This has been verified through her back and forth posting with him on tumblr from his blog @snakeob-duke and hers @detective-luca-montoya
Suspect Identification: Witnesses described Luca being taken into into the vehicle outside AMESS. Based on her connection to Koya Oshiro and further identification through blog posts on the tumblr blog @humourless-holmes, Eurus was confirmed as the primary suspect. There were no other individuals seen at the scene during the abduction.
Attempts to Contact the Suspect: Eurus did not make any immediate contact with AMESS following the abduction, and no ransom or threats were issued. Jacob Duke provided additional context, explaining that Luca had sounded calm and normal during their last communication, with no indication that she anticipated any danger. Later posts would show her reaching out to @artofdeductionbysholmes to make taunts and occasionally let Luca Montoya provide scattered proof of life
Recovery of the Victim:
On October 5, 2024, Luca Montoya was located in lower London, after being held captive for five days. She was found with minor injuries, including bruises, cuts, and a sprained wrist, but was otherwise in stable condition. Luca was discovered after an anonymous tip led law enforcement to her location. She was immediately transported to St. Thomas' Hospital for treatment and his since gone back to her home.
Luca has been unable to provide detailed information about the reason for her abduction, but she confirmed that Eurus Holmes kept her isolated during the entire ordeal, with minimal communication. Luca described Eurus as detached and methodical, but the purpose behind her actions remains unclear.
Follow-Up Action:
Eurus Holmes is still at large, and law enforcement continues to search for her. Investigators are working to uncover any potential motive behind the abduction and are examining Eurus's psychological profile and connections to Luca and Koya Oshiro.
Jacob Duke has been questioned further to determine if there is any additional information that may assist in locating Eurus and additional attempts are being made to reach out to other members of the Holmes and Oshiro families for similar assistance. A warrant has been issued for Eurus’s arrest, and international cooperation is being sought to prevent her from fleeing the country.
The investigation remains active.
Report End.

Sometimes, its really easy to just let time pass by and take things for granted. I was scrolling through the Ares tag on your blog, and it just really hit me how amazing of a place you've created here on Tumblr. I remember discovering your blog like 5ish years ago and finding Aphrodite. A lot has happened since then, but I find myself truly grateful for this space you've created for us here on Tumblr.com. For me, and a lot of others, you've helped people gain understanding and forge relationships with themselves and their Gods. I know that if I'm feeling confused about something diety related, I can nestle myself into your tags, and find the answer(or the right question!)for whatever I'm searching for. Thank you for all the paragraphs of colored texts and purposeful italics. Thank you for your vulnerability and metaphors. For the gifs and stories and sources. Thank you for sharing your doubts and grief with us.
Thank you for everything. And I am so very proud of you.
This ask made me cry.
I've been having a hard time connecting with Apollo (a usual occurrence, my connection with him is weakest due to circumstances in my childhood beyond his control) but he does his best to send me signs and I hope it's okay to say I could feel his energy in this lovely message as if it was radiating healing energy. I believe he pointed at this ask while I was in the middle of being frustrated with my inability to hear him as well as I can hear the other gods. The "I'm so very proud of you" hit the hardest.
I'm actually planning on printing this ask and putting it on my altar as a reminder that despite how frustrated I'm feeling with my own spiritual life, others appreciate how I've helped them with theirs. It helped break the internal toxic monologue that happens in moments when I feel spiritually incompetent so thank you for breaking that, shining a light and giving me hope. I really needed it.
I appreciate it so much!

the bizarre thing is that staff independently uses tumblr on their own blogs? so how do half of these changes even make sense to you all or improve the user experience? when you click on a post from mobile now it takes you to a separate page with just the post. what's the purpose of that? you can obviously clearly see the post on your dash why do i need to be taken to a separate page with just the post? isn't it more logical that you're clicking the post to be taken to the user's page? also do you know what happens when you click a post that the op deleted? you get stuck on a forever loading screen that does nothing but load no error message or anything just loading and there's no way to access the op's page. now i have to memorize a 33 character long url and go to search and type it up to go to op's page. i'm honestly just baffled how that makes sense and is improving user experience bc sorry for my naivety and utter ignorance but there seems to be 0 logic behind this change. good job on opening long posts in the dashboard instead of taking you to a separate page tho that's actually pretty neat o7
some of us who work at tumblr do use tumblr a ton, and we find bugs before you ever do, because we generally roll out changes to just us staff before everybody else. but of course, there are still things that fall through the cracks, and it sounds like you found a bug there with the deleted post issue. please file it to Support!
and in general, almost all of the changes we make are discussed internally and planned and whatnot, we know "why" we're doing things. i wish we were better at conveying that "why" in public, but even if we were, it still would not make complete sense to everyone. like i've been saying a lot lately: there are millions of people using tumblr. there is no "one way" to use it, so we're trying to do our best to make it the best for as many people possible.

What do you think would be a resolution for the Israel Palestinian conflict? I think all loss of life is tragic, but I understand why Israel is in a war.
Also I don't get the constant reference to genocide, the number of casualties is quite low so far compared to other wars. So by that reasoning almost any war involves genocide. It's especially puzzling because the side openly calling for genocide is the one you support. Isreal seems atleast to make an effort not to harm civilians, while on Oct 7 civilians were almost exclusively targeted.
Hello.
You seem to be unacquainted with my blog, considering you sent this in.
Allow me to introduce myself properly.
I am Mandy. I study law. This past fall, I did a course on International Law, specifically considering the countries who are a part of the United Nations and the conflicts that surround them.
I would urge you to look up the meaning of the word "genocide". The criteria of a genocide is clearly not what you think. Just one person has to die for it to be considered a genocide. Just one child has to be forcibly moved for the purpose of indoctrination for it to be considered a genocide.
As a law student, I pride myself on providing sources for anything law specific that I say on here.
Regarding Palestine, I have done this countless of times. In fact, I have spoken on this exact matter before, and why this is in fact a genocide, but also why genocide is so hard to prove, but also how Israel has committed countless war crimes against Palestine (which is also why I am currently writing my bachelor thesis on the war crimes committed by Israel in Palestine). My responses will be linked below:
My personal beliefs on why you should be supporting Palestine? Remember, remember, the fifth of november.
Now. I won't fault you for not understanding the depth and depravity of what is happening currently. I will however, fault you for returning to my inbox without having read all of the material I just provided you with.
And trust me, I will know, if you return without educating yourself. I will know. I can always tell.
It's all there. In fact, even more is there, if you would be so gracious to spend your time looking up the Palestine-Israel conflict online. Everything is explained very clearly and very quickly.
And again.
If you're unsure of what side you should be on, then please remember that trump supporters and extremist christians support Israel. That should tell you most of all you need to know.
(just FYI, all of these and more can be found by searching "Palestine" on my blog).

the unfinished thought here is that he also reacts exceptionally strongly to the word. It's like a switch gets flipped in both cases outside the agni kai. And what an interesting word to (potentially) center as he embarks upon his redemption.
working theory: "Compassion" is the throughline word to replace "honor." we hear it (at least) twice before the agni kai with Ozai—the first when Zuko saves Iroh from being taken to The Pit about earthbenders, and the second from Aang after he saves Zuko from being found out by Zhao at Pohuai Stronghold

Chaeri as the 8th and youngest member of BTS.
Chaeri's Masterlist
ATTENTION: 'MY NAME' DRAMA SPOILER AHEAD
Web article
Why you shouldn't miss 'My Name', the series starring the kick-ass girl of the year
Revenge is woman
My Name is one of those realistic, down-to-earth, tough stories. Tough as hell. Premiering at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, it is a crime thriller directed by Kim Jin-min, director of 2004's Pride and Prejudice, and starring Chaeri of BTS. It is a story of pure revenge, but veered to the female side, with a very young girl at the center. My Name is an adrenaline-fueled, violent series that is a pleasure to follow.
"It's the least for a gangster's daughter." That's what Ji-woo Yoon (Chaeri) says after beating the crap out of a schoolmate who was bullying her. On her desk, in fact, she had put a bag with something that looked like cocaine in it, for the purpose of teasing her or, who knows, getting her called out of school. Ji-woo's reaction is violent, and without mercy. Soon after, when she is in her apartment, she receives a visit from her father, who has brought her a present for her birthday. But she, who does not accept his choice to be a criminal, refuses to see him and doesn't open the door for him. In the hallway, in front of that closed door, the man is murdered. The girl's guilt-ridden mission will be to find who killed him. Whatever it takes.
My Name rests entirely on the shoulders of the very young Chaeri and to her performance. She makes her acting debut embodying a role very different from what fans are used to seeing of her on stage. Unlike many equally young and pretty female colleagues who have chosen a career path propped up with sugary roles in sappy rom-coms, Chaeri opted to take on a far more uncomfortable role for her screen debut. Petite, her face graceful and sweet, she proves to be an actress who can bring to life the contrast between the delicacy of her age and status as a high school student, with the world she faces, and with the very characteristics of a tireless and indomitable fighter she manages to pull off. In the first scenes of the series we saw her getting ready for school, neat and elegant. All this before the surprising explosion of violence we witness at her school. And it is only the prologue to an endless spiral of violence. The action of My Name is tight, rhythmic, not giving a moment's respite. The protagonist moves to the rhythm of the beats of cold, pressing electronic music.
We see her juggling a noir-tinged story in which the very young Yoon Ji-woo must move not only deftly but also intelligently between two opposing organizations: the police organization, particularly Narcotics, and the gang of the mellifluous boss Choi Mu-jin, the best friend of Ji-woo's late parent. Hidden among them is the killer of the girl's father, and the search for the truth is as exciting as the bloody showdown.
"My Name" breaks free from the constraints of traditional Korean TV censorship, providing a platform for explicit depictions of violence, sex, and the exploration of intense emotions like love and hate. As a Netflix original production, the series offers a refreshing and unfiltered viewing experience. Since its debut on October 15, 2021, "My Name" has captivated audiences with its gripping storyline and Chaeri's remarkable acting debut.
The controversial themes and many parents' reaction to the TV series' debut trailer
Blog: Parenting teenagers
User_1: I just read the news that Chaeri is going to act in a TV series with highly debatable themes. I'm really concerned about my son, who is a huge fan of hers. How can we ensure that our children aren't negatively influenced by this kind of content?
User_2: I'm disappointed that an artist like Chaeri has decided to participate in a series with such themes. As parents, we need to protect our children from these harmful influences. We should encourage greater scrutiny of the artists they follow and promote more positive and age-appropriate content.
User_3: This is just an example of how our young ones are exposed to inappropriate content because of the choices made by the artists they follow. As parents, we need to be mindful and educate our children about the negative effects of such content. It's essential that we seek healthier alternatives for them.
User_4: Have you heard about Chaeri's upcoming role in that TV series? I can't believe she's choosing to be a part of something so inappropriate for her young fanbase. It's really disappointing.
User_5: I agree completely. As parents, we should expect better from these idols who have such a significant influence on our children. It's a shame that Chaeri is going down this path.
User_6: I've already had to have some difficult conversations with my daughter about the content in K-pop. Now, with Chaeri taking on such a controversial role, it's going to be even harder to guide our kids through these complex issues.

💭 fanboy11: I understand it's acting, but seeing Chaeri and Ahn Bo-Hyun's steamy scenes in 'My Name' is really testing my emotions!
💭 chaeri1stan: Seriously, can't they tone down the intimacy between Chaeri and Ahn Bo-Hyun in 'My Name'? It's making it hard to watch
💭 chaerislips: The chemistry between Chaeri and Ahn Bo-Hyun is so intense that I can't help but feel slightly jealous of their kissing in 'My Name.' I hope they are just acting

What BTS think of Chaeri in the lead role of My Name, interview extracts
Suga: Chaeri has proven to be an all-around artist, her versatility in moving from a world that was strictly about music to the world of film and TV series is impressive. She has handled the complex role she has been given managing to convey genuine emotions. She has given life to an extraordinary character. We are very proud of her
Jin: She surprised us by auditioning without letting us know. When she returned home with a carrot cake, her favorite, she exclaimed, 'Guys, today calls for a celebration!' It caught us off guard. We were aware of her acting lessons but hadn't anticipated her involvement in such a significant project. From the first day of filming until the very end, we wholeheartedly cheered her on
Suga: I've been on set many times
V: I've been on set as well. I have brought her lunch more than once and stayed to watch the scenes being filmed
Jimin: As part of the BTS family, we have always stood together, supporting each other's dreams and aspirations. It brings us immense joy to witness Chaeri's artistic evolution and the milestones she reaches. Every success she achieves feels like a shared victory for all of us
RM: To be frank, when she shared the details and genre of the show she was going to be a part of, I couldn't help but ask if she felt ready to make her debut as an actress in such a demanding role. The first impression is crucial, as it can shape an artist's future prospects, and I was worried that the role might be too overwhelming. However, she proved me wrong, and she amazed everyone. I suppose I will always have a sense of concern for her, just like when she was 14 years old. It's a part of me that I can't shake off. Nevertheless, I have to acknowledge and accept that she has blossomed into a strong, beautiful and independent woman
J-Hope: She's the youngest in the family, and it's tough to see her all grown up
J-Hope: A significant buzz has emerged online surrounding her involvement in this show. However, I strongly believe that she deserves nothing but admiration. Despite it being her debut, she has demonstrated remarkable artistic skills. My Name is the type of TV series that I would gladly watch repeatedly, to the point of memorizing every scene. Chaeri's performance was nothing short of perfection
Jungkook: Her dedication serves as an inspiration to all. We were a bit worried at first. Our busy schedules consume a major part of our day and she would sacrifice hours of sleep to become the leading actress everyone expected. I witnessed her taking boxing lessons, filming scenes at improbable hours, and studying the script even while eating. She is a hard worker, and all her efforts have paid off
V: There are no adequate words to express how proud I am of her. She knew that joining the cast would unsettle some people, yet she pursued it because it was what she wanted. As idols, we have a responsibility to set a good example for our followers, that's true. However, it's important to remember that movies and TV series are purely fictional and go beyond our role as role models. I have always supported her in every decision, and I have cherished every minute of 'My Name'

how do I use tags correctly? like, whats the propper tag etiquette? I'm pretty new here and don't wanna screw this up haha
Tags serve three main purposes: they help others find your posts, they help you find your posts at a later date, and they serve as a way to add metatextual commentary to a post.
So, at a base level, if you want other people to find your post, or want a way to find the post more easily yourself at a later date, you would add purely descriptive tags like on any other social media site so people looking in those tags will see your post. For example, a post of someone baking bread might have #food #baking #cottagecore etc. Fandom tags often utilize abbreviations (tagging #OFMD instead of #OurFlagMeansDeath for example) and these are best found by searching around yourself and seeing which tags are the most active.
A few pointers here:
Don't tag hate. It's fine if you dislike something, but going on a rant about how much you hate a thing and then tagging it so that everyone who loves the thing will have to look at it is considered aggressive and rude.
People will often tag for common triggers like gore and rape as a courtesy to those using extensions to erase posts containing those tags from their dash. The exact format of these tags has never been formalized, but most use the #cwtrigger, #twtrigger, or just #trigger format.
Tags on original posts mean that post will show up when you search for that tag. Tags on reblogs do not make it show up in the tag page a second time and are only useful for internal blog searching.
You can also choose to use tags that are just for you, like #mythoughts or #myart, which allows you to search your own blog more easily. If you are an artist of any sort, using a tag denoting what is an original work is highly recommended.
Some people also use a tag specifically for posts that are in their queue, to let people know that the post is automatic and that they are not necessarily online at that particular moment. Getting creative with puns gets you brownie points. #scoobydoobyqueue
Tags specifically go into the tag section at the bottom of the post editor. Adding hashtags to the body of a post does absolutely nothing. You can, however, @ another user in the body of the post.
Tags are also often used for commentary purposes. They are sort of like whispering under your breath after you've publicly stated whatever is in your post. This can include musings, jokes, and other information that didn't quite seem important enough to put in the main body of the post. Every post of a beautiful woman does not need five hundred people writing "as I lesbian I am looking respectfully *googly eyes emoji*" in the post but you can 100% put that in the tags.
Pointers with this:
Eventually everyone gets the hang of what thoughts are important enough to put in the body of a post or reblog and what should be relegated to the tags. You can ask yourself "is this adding something useful to the conversation, or is it just me rambling or keysmashing?"
If your tags are witty enough, other users may deem them worthy of being included in the main post, screenshot them, and put the screenshot in their reblog. We consider this a peer review process of sorts and it is a badge of honor.
Again, being kind is a common courtesy. When you add tag commentary, the original poster and person you reblogged from are notified, and everyone can see it. So if you write in the tags that the post is stupid and that the OP is a cunt, congrats, you've just made the OP cry and you should probably not be on the internet.
Tags are comma delineated so if you are typing a thought in the tag long enough to need a comma, use a semicolon instead, otherwise the tag will be split in two. Likewise, quotation marks will not show up in a tag.
I hope this helps!
