Ever since I've hit 10k subscribers I started getting offers to run sponsored in-video ads. Let the record show that I would rather blow my fucking head off with a rocket launcher than read so much as a single sentence of an advertisement in my audios.
#I fucking hate ads#7-11/Denny's/Bisquick/The Last Blockbuster all owe me money though#for all the product placement#In Chronus Seven and My Greasefire Life#So does Chrysler for the Jeep product placement in The Neon Barbarian#anti sponsored content#IDGAF if I wanted money I'd make patreon content#Or do something that wouldn't compromise my script#I'd rather die

star wars outlaws
#star wars outlaws#kay vess#nix#did a brief detour into this game it isn't bad! but certainly lacks in polish for core loops. tutorialization pipelines are ass also#performance - also ass. had to play quality on ps5 for it to have any clarity at all. but the open world is gorgeous#and it certainly nails the very narrow target of horse girl star wars fantasy (ripping across tatooine on a speeder with a little Guy)#nix is everything I love him. modern star wars rarely captivates me but they do know how to do lil guys real well#my photos#star wars#also-also. would be remiss not to mention. never played a game with unregulated scope creep this noticeable before. it's baffling#I KNOW people crunched on this it's in the walls in the floorboards it's everywhere. unmitigated hodge podge of mechanics and pillars#and those pillars are often unbalanced between each other. storytelling payloads are an issue too. there's pre-rendered in-engine cutscenes#real-time in-engine cutscenes. and digic-produced full CG cutscenes. and their placement and prioritization feels insane and inscrutable#like three different teams were working on the game at the same time and never in congress or coordination#it also suffers from the open world 4th and 5th priority narrative payload issues - many secondary and sometimes even primary questgiving#and expository dialogues are in-game zoomed camera lipsync exchanges. or flavor text#on the other hand - surprisingly deft mission design itself? side quests reward either cosmetics or actual unlockable deployable skills#it has fleeting genes of a metroidvania spread across a wide open world in that sense. but only fleeting. the rep system is a smokescreen#and progression in general has a very open and unsatisfying end to it. this game needed less scope and maybe no space stuff at all#the resulting resource allocation adjustment would truly make for a captivating open world adventure. as it stands it feels like#a product of overworked people misusing mismanaged budgets and managing to sprinkle some love into it regardless#games should never be good on the merit of their perceivable seasoning of overwork and passion. that really only bakes a sadness cake

people doing this whole "look at how rhaenys acted with corlys's bastard son vs how catelyn acted with jon snow" to demonize one or the other is weird because, like, maybe it's just me, but i think that catelyn and rhaenys had different reactions because they're different people in different situations.
#personal#like they're clearly very different people with different personalities#hell even the situations are different#rhaenys kinda stumbles upon corlys's bastard whose name i don't know cuz i'm not watching this season just kinda in passing#she knew he existed but didn't really have to deal with it at all#meanwhile ned comes home with this baby he says is a product of cheating and just goes 'he's living here now'#there's no space for catelyn to separate herself from the betrayal of fidelity the way that there likely was for rhaenys#like i'm not catelyn's biggest fan#not just because of her treatment of jon (altho yeah i'll be honest i'm not a fan) but there's stuff about her personality#and how she views the world and what being in her head is like that can rub me the wrong way#(she's just so constantly judgy and rude about nearly everyone she doesn't know and even some that she does and it can get exhausting)#but she's a different person to rhaenys and also occupies a different role than she does#rhaenys has a lot more going for her in her marriage than just being corlys's wife#she's got the bluer blood as a targaryen princess she's got a dragon she's got power and influence in her own right#meanwhile catelyn doesn't have nearly as much#she's a lord's daughter yeah but in this entirely new kingdom where she is now her power comes from being ned's wife#and mother to his children#in her head jon is a threat to that power due to being not only a reminder of ned's infidelity but also how his placement could supplant#her children and thus herself by extension#along with her just having a different personality to rhaenys that makes her harsher about it#(i mean i still don't LIKE that she takes it out on jon who certainly didn't ask to be born but i at least understand from characterization#and again: they're different people! no shit they'd react differently!#i'm just baffled at this attempt to pit GOT characters against HOTD characters all the time it's so weird#like now there's people arguing who's better between jace and robb stark and i'm just left baffled#do y'all literally not know how to consume content in any other way except petty fandom wars? my god you're annoying

technically thursday here, but whatever! have some WIP from product placement ;) TK and Carlos are still hung up on the red vs. blue issue which is really an excuse for me to wish carlos was in a different profession.
Thanks for the tags @heartstringsduet @carlos-in-glasses @strandnreyes @alrightbuckaroo @three-drink-amy @lemonlyman-dotcom @freneticfloetry @bonheur-cafe i loved reading all your posts and they are in the queue ;)
When Carlos opens the door, he’s met with TK himself, an irritated expression on his face and definitely not unconscious.
“Babe, why are you knocking on—”
“Can I come in?” TK interjects in a huff. Carlos is extremely confused, but otherwise somewhat relieved, and he thinks it’s the latter which prompts him to stop asking questions.
“TK, this is your place too,” he says carefully, stepping aside to let his fiancé pass. “You don’t have to ask permission to enter.”
“I just wanted to give you the option of telling me to go and sleep at the firehouse,” TK mutters, attempting to kick off his shoes. “You know, because that’s all I do there.”
“TK—”
“You're a dick sometimes, you know that?” TK snaps, growling as the laces on one of his shoes get stuck underneath the other.
Carlos narrows his eyes, watching TK fight with his sneakers. “You’re the one that told me my job was basically pointless.”
“I didn’t say that,” TK says hotly, looking up. “I said that you do a lot of paperwork. Which isn’t even untrue!”
“It’s— It’s not what you said, it’s how you said it,” Carlos protests, even though his argument is sounding weaker by the second. To his credit, TK didn’t actually say that police work was a desk job. In fact, Carlos is pretty sure he said that.
Still, the stubborn part of him – which is definitely inherited from his father’s side of the family – refuses to let him back down.
“Well I’m sorry you’re so sensitive about people talking about what you do for a living,” TK replies.
“That’s not an apology,” Carlos points out. “Besides, you’re the one who got sensitive when I said that thing about eating meals and sleeping on shift, which is not untrue either.”
“But it’s not all I do!”
“And I don’t just sit there and fill out forms!”
“Well I guess you hand out speeding tickets,” TK says venomously. “But that’s still technically paperwork.”
“You’re only mad about that because you got pulled over the other week and I told you I couldn’t get you out of it.”
Somehow, through their bickering, they’ve brought themselves closer together. TK, now shoving his shoes somewhere in the vicinity of the rack, Carlos cornering him against the wall. It’s becoming abundantly clear what’s about to happen, and TK doesn’t seem to be keen on addressing it.
“TK,” Carlos warns, shoving down three thousand indecent thoughts as TK reaches for him. Instead of backing away, Carlos crowds him up against the wall and cups his jaw, thumb brushing over the apple of TK’s cheek while his fingers toy with the ends of TK’s hair.
“Carlos,” TK bites out, blatantly staring at Carlos’ mouth.
Carlos reaches his hand around further, threading his fingers through the soft strands. It feels familiar, grounding, and when TK pulls him in by the hips so they’re pushed into his own, there’s no mistaking where this is going.
“We said we wouldn’t,” Carlos gasps, wondering why they’re both so hard. It shouldn’t be normal to be so turned on from TK’s bitching, but somehow he is. He always is. There’s something about TK that is inescapable, even when he’s getting on Carlos’ nerves.
“We said we wouldn’t while we’re angry,” TK whispers, his nose nudging against Carlos’ as he slots their faces together, their lips millimetres apart.
“You’re not angry?” Carlos murmurs, rolling his hips into TK’s, even though he knows it's unhelpful to his prior statement.
TK whines in the back of his throat, something that does nothing but draw Carlos in closer. “I’m not angry,” he protests. “I’m frustrated.”

i played the remastered alan wake a while back and am replaying the original on steam, and, honestly, they’re so similar, I couldn’t tell which is which if you held up comparisons. ive come across reviews about the game looking outdated and bad (mostly compared to other releases in that time), but the original looks great and I like the hazy dark lighting for both this and awan
#might delete#I can’t wait to run into all the product placements#like yeah I know it’s not. top graphics of that year. but I’ve stopped and looked at the environment So many times. it’s pretty!#this is because im biased but I *loved* AWANs choice of scenery. although I wish it was as detailed and expansive as the original games#all of remedy’s games do pretty great in terms of the environment. ignore controls terrible map and the Oldest House is an incredible space#to navigate just by following signs and all the little details. the atmosphere!#don’t even need to explain how aw2 is good with that#but even Max Payne 1 has this beautiful eerie quality where everything is this fever dream of grungy or old environments#even before the literal nightmare sequence it felt like navigating a dream of this Not New York City. like of course it’s likely born from#the limitations the developers had when making it. but the emptiness and placement of npcs added to the experience#QB so far is my least favorite in its style and environment but it’s still had some good moments. the use of flashbacks + time overlapping#onto abandoned and destroyed environments was genius. the college campus itself and the train(?) cargo(?) area was neat to go through#there’s some really good stuff there! *im also. not done with QB so im still hoping things get more wild!!#im honestly more forgiving of QB as a whole and find it interesting since it went through a lot of hell in its development#this might seem negative but it’s not! it’s a shockingly beautiful game. graphics exceed expectations#the style and some locations is where it’s more boring for me. but still good. im so tempted to buy it on steam to finally finish it#endless apologies if u opened this and ur entire page opened up an essays worth of tags

came back from the theatrical re-release of Spider-Man 2 (2004) and GOD was it a trip to see it in a theaters again - for context, I was FOUR YEARS OLD when it came out, but it STILL absolutely rules
as a bonus, since the only copy my family has owned is the fullscreen dvd, so it was a treat to see Actually See The Entire Screen again - not to mention the surround sound 👌👌👌 my theater had it turned UP, which is to say that The Entirety of Otto's Surgery was An Experience
(godddd the way that the NAILS against the TILE sounded OUGGHH)
anyway the train scene will always and forever be one of the best moments of superhero media, and I'm SO happy I was able to experience it in a theater again <3
#also!! spotted the poptart and burger king product placements during the train scene#and laughed when I remembered all the spider-man products back in 2004#never got the poptarts(bc i dont like them) but i DID collect most of the burger king toys#and still have them <3#also came back to my house and Immediately darted over to my Officially Licenced Doctor Octopus' Claw toy#which resides in the corner of my room#and it's STILL so impressive. why didn't they rerelease it during NWH?? children deserve sick awesome claws to pick up hotwheels with#spider man 2 2004#spider-man 2#spider-man#jazzy keeps blogging til the blog ends

#nadja of antipaxos#wwdits#wwdits spoilers#honestly im benefitting so hard from not being american because these episodes do not feel like product placement at all#given tbat the businesses in question literally do not exist in my countryctheyre just ✨️american things✨️#i feel like some of yall forget this is a funny comedy about vampires not like a plot heavy vampire drama#if you want gay vampire drama watch iwtv (once the strikes finish)#anyway i laughed harder at that episode than i have at any in recent memory#it was funny and horrifying and baffling in equal measure 10/10#genuinely enjoying the break from the overarching plot for a single episode of batshit insane filler

2024 reads / storygraph
Greta & Valdin
contemporary fiction following two gay siblings who live together in central auckland
Greta, in her 20s, getting her masters and living on a shitty academic salary, getting over an unrequited crush, and exploring a new relationship
Valdin, in his 30s, who quit science for a tourism show, whose ex (he still isn’t over) is in his orbit again when work sends him to Argentina, and has to confront what he wants for his future
navigating adulthood, OCD, a messy eccentric Māori/Russian family
#Greta & Valdin#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#oh this is great. also so weird/familiar reading about people in nz especially cities i am familiar with#I enjoyed the quirky writing style and I really loved the central sibling relationship!#The plot is just kinda a lot of hanging out with various people and then having deep conversations with them. and repeat#(but also nothing ever getting SUPER in depth)#(often about things that they’ve somehow never talked about in the decades of being a family despite the amount of yapping they do?)#but not a criticism really that's kinda the point of the book i guess lol! I think it worked for the most part#It is quite unstructured which I didn’t mind for the most part but the end was a bit random?#there’s suddenly short chapters from other character’s POVs which was a bit whiplashy#especially being in first person (by the time I felt used to the new character’s voice the 3 page chapter would be over)#Also maybe I’m dumb and missed something but what was going on with their mum’s possible affair?#like they were talking about it at the end but… i was confused if there was any conclusion drawn there. lol#there’s a review that’s like i hated this and all the product placement why do we need to know you got kapiti ice cream & went to [x] gelat#i just need you to know that we are like that about ice cream. they all have different vibes & giving that detail is just like...flavour#anyway yeah i thought it was good overall!#wlw books#mlm books
