“What do they do in there all day?” Steve Rogers nodded to the door that led to your husband’s lab. The two of you were seated in the lounge area, slightly away from the rest of the party. You were sat on a long couch where you could watch Tony effortlessly work the room schmoozing with all of the guests. Steve sat across from you on a slightly smaller couch, purposely facing away from the circus behind him. Parties had never been his thing in any time period. The “they” in question was of course Tony and Dr. Bruce Banner.

“Please, they don’t tell me anything.” You scoffed. “All I know is Bruce has been here day and night since you guys got back from Sokovia. I had to send in reinforcements last night to get them to come up for dinner. It’s a miracle either of them surfaced long enough to show up to this party. I was hoping you’d know what’s got them so worked up.”

“They don’t bother explaining anything to me. We keep the science strictly need to know.” Steve sighed.

“Captain Rogers!” Your fifteen-year-old daughter Serina joined you and Steve in the lounge. “Man, you are hard to track down!” She exclaimed sitting down on the couch next to you. “I wanted to thank you because Mom and Tony said you were the one who persuaded them into letting me come to the party. I’ve been trying to get into an Avengers party for years.”

“All I said was that this party was to celebrate the team and that you, your mom, and Eddie, you’re part of the team too.” Steve explained. “Families should be together as much as possible and we take up a lot of Tony’s time.”

“Well, I wanted to say thanks, just the same. Now I’m off to challenge Thor to an arm-wrestling match!” Serina jumped up from the couch and began walking through the party in search of the God of Thunder.

“She’s a good kid, Serina.” Steve told you. “Tony mentioned you’ve been having a hard time with her father.”

“Ah, he talked to you about The Architect.” You nodded before taking a sip from your drink. “Michael is trying to convince the court that what Tony does is dangerous and that we’re putting Serina at risk every day just by being associated with him.”

“What we do is dangerous.” Steve agreed cautiously. “But does he really think Serina would be safer or any less of a target if she weren’t in your care?”

“Well that’s the argument that we, and our lawyers, are trying to make. The whole thing is a real mess.” You shook your head. “But Michael would have found something else to come after us for if not this. The worst part is that he doesn’t even answer Serina’s calls half the time and he’s constantly pushing back visits.”

“That’s certainly an advantage for you and Tony, right?” He asked.

“Sure, but it doesn’t exactly improve Serina’s already strained relationship with her father.” You sighed.

“Hey! There she is, the Iron Lady and Captain Underpants!” Clint greeted you enthusiastically. He sat between you and Steve, taking up residence on the floor. You began to suspect Clint might be a little drunk.

“Isn’t that what they called Margaret Thatcher?” You recalled. “If I’m going to get a nickname, I’d like it to at least be my own. How are you feeling, Clint?”

“Better than ever, but I thought I’d come hang out over here with you two anti-socials for a while.” He yawned. He found a pair of drumsticks on the table and started fidgeting with them. He rolled them between is fingers causing the pieces of wood to spin.

“Party’s winding down.” Bruce commented as he joined your small gathering. He sat on the other end of your couch, not wanting to step over Clint. “Tony’s asking the team to stay the night. Is he planning a sleep over?” He asked you.

“You see more of him than I do these days.” You shrugged. “Maybe he’s planning on unveiling whatever it is you’ve been working on in the lab for the past three days.” Bruce’s eyes widened as he sipped generously from his glass of water.

“No, ah,” He shook his head. “That didn’t exactly pan out how we thought it would.”

“Say, [Y/N], you know your kid’s over there arm-wrestling, Thor?” James Rhodes and Maria Hill had now made their way into the lounge. The Colonel pointed to the bar where you daughter was seated opposite Thor. The two of them each grasping the other’s hand with their elbows  on the bar.

“I’m sure she’ll go easy on him.” You joked. You had full faith that Thor wouldn’t allow any harm to come to your daughter.

As other guests began to leave the rest of the Avengers filtering into the lounge area. Natashia sat next to Bruce, she didn’t share the same reservations about climbing over Clint. She would have no problem stepping on him if he got in her way. Tony kissed you on the cheek before siting in an armchair near your end of the couch. The only ones missing were Thor and your daughter. Serina bounced over excitedly on the balls of her feet followed closely by the God of Thunder.

“I won!” She announced triumphantly before perching herself on the arm of the couch between you and Tony. Thor placed mighty Mjolnir on the center of the coffee table as gently as someone would a book or a mug. Before wedging himself between Sam Wilson and Steve.

“Yes, you have raised a mighty warrior, Mrs. Stark! She has made a worthy opponent for me this evening.” Thor nodded.

“Thor said that when I’m older he might let me try to wield Mjolnir!!” She announced.

“Rina, I think it’s time for you to call it a night, Kiddo.” Tony suggested.

“I was hoping I could stay up and hang out with everyone a little bit longer.” She frowned.

“It’s a trick!” Clint commented from his seat on the floor, brining everyone’s attention to him. “Ah whosoever be he worthy shall haveth the power!” He mumbled in a terrible impersonation of Thor. “Whatever man! It’s a trick!” This earned a hearty laugh from Thor.

“Please, be my guest.” The God of Thunder invited.

“Really?” Clint scrambled to his feet. He tossed aside the drumsticks and grasped the hammer with one hand. He pulled on the hammer. It didn’t budge.

“You know, Clint, you’ve had a hard week. No one will blame you if you can’t get it up.” Tony smirked, forgetting that his teenage daughter was sitting right next to him.

“Please, Stark, but all means.” Clint invited your husband to try his luck.

“I’ve never been one to shrink away from a challenge.” Tony agreed, getting up from his seat. “It’s physics.” He commented, shaking his limbs. “Right, so if I lift it, then I get to rule Asgard, right?” He asked placing both of his hands on the hammer.

“Yes, of course.” Thor nodded. A childlike grin was spreading across his face. He was enjoying this. Tony tugged once on the hammer, which of course didn’t move.

“I’ll be right back.” He walked off. This sparked a friendly competition among everyone with each of the Avengers taking turns trying to lift the hammer from the coffee table. Things got even more interesting when Tony and Rhodey couldn’t lift the hammer together who both of them were wearing gauntlets form their Iron Man and War Machine suits. Even Maria gave it a go. Serina of course was all too excited to jump in on the action.

“That’s not a question I need answered.” Natasha commented when her time came around.

Even you had tossed your hat into the ring, but it was a futile attempt. No one could lift the hammer except Thor. Steve got the closest. While the Hammer didn’t move a millimeter for anyone else, it did at least creak when held between the palms of Captain Steve Rogers.

“It’s rigged. The handle’s imprinted right?” Tony tried to guess once everyone had had their go. “Like a security code. Whosoever is carrying Thor’s fingerprints is I think the literal translation?”

“Yes, yes.” Thor nodded, getting up from his seat. “I have simpler one. You’re all not worthy.” This remarked was greeted with boos, laughter and half-hearted chuckles.

“Serina, come on,” You said, getting up from your seat. “Let’s go check on your brother and get both of you ready for bed.”

“Ugh, fine.” She rolled her eyes. “Good night Avengers! See you at breakfast.” You both walked over to a flight of stairs that lead to the bedrooms and you were halfway to Eddie’s room when the entire apartment was filled with a piercing high-pitched sound. Almost like feedback from a microphone.

“What the hell was that?” You looked down from the balcony that overlooked the lounge. Tony pulled a small device out of his pocket and studied it. It seemed to have readings of something on it. Then there was the sound of electronics whirling, and a graveling voice calling out from below you.

“Worthy?” The voice asked. You looked down to see a robotic silhouette. It was directly under you but about five yards across the room from everyone else. It looked like one of the Iron Legion suits Tony had designed, but it seemed to be only partially assembled. It was unfinished and missing parts and walked hauntingly out of sync.

“No.” The mechanical voice answered its own question. “How could you be worthy? You’re all Killers.”

“Stark?” Steve looked to Tony for an answer. You were thankful that you’d talked tony Out of an all glass balcony when the Avenger’s Tower was being build. Thanks to the layers of steel that separated you, the mechanical monster below hadn’t noticed you or Serina upstairs.

“JARVIS?” Tony called for his artificial assistant. You could tell he’s was trying to hide the panic he was feeling.

“I’m sorry, I was asleep… Or I was a dream.” The mechanical suit rambled.

“Reboot Legionnaire OS. We’ve got a buggy suit.” You hard Tony tell the device in his hand.  No reply came from JARVIS. He started tapping at the device trying to access the system manually.

“Mom,” Serina whispered next to you. “What is that thing?”

“I don’t know.” You whispered back. “But it’s okay. Tony can fix it.” You promised. But as you looked down at your husband you could tell form his expression, he wasn’t sure that he could.

“There was this terrible noise…And I was tangled in…in strings…I had to kill the other guy. He was a good guy.” The suit continued to lament as it jerked around wildly.

“You killed someone?” Steve asked, he stepped around the furniture so that he was standing next to Tony.

“Serina, go in your brother’s room. Shut the door and stay quiet. Do you understand me?” She nodded and did as she was told.

“Who sent you?” Thor demanded.

“I see a suit of armor around the world.” The suit played an audio clip of your husband and that was enough of an answer for you. Whatever this thing was it had to do with what Tony and Bruce had been working on in the lab all week. You ran the extra few feet and hid yourself in your son’s room. You could hear the sounds of repulsors powering on and firing, you heard gun shots, and glass shattering. You two children looked at you with absolute terror in their eyes.

“Everything is going to be okay.” You didn’t know if you were affirming this more for them or yourself. “Come sit on the bed with me.” You sat on the edge of your son’s race car bed and both kids eagerly scrambled over to you. With a child nestled close on either side you held one in each arm.

“Your dad does this kind of thing every day.” You reminded them. “And he’s not alone, he’s got all of his friends, Like Captain Rogers…”

“And Thor!” Serina added. She flexed her muscles the way she’d seen Thor do earlier.

“And Hulk!” Eddie added excitedly.

“That’s right, now they’re all down there, so we don’t have to worry, okay?” You kissed both of your kids and helped them close and waited for someone to tell you that it was over. The danger had passed.

THE ANATOMY OF VC BE A STARTUP

If in the next couple years. Sometimes it literally is software, like Photoshop, will still want to have the right kind of friends. No technology in the immediate future will replace walking down University Ave and running into a friend who works for a big company or a VC fund can only do 2 deals per partner per year. For insiders work turns into a duty, laden with responsibilities and expectations.12 In addition to catching bugs, they were moving to a cheaper apartment.13 If your first version is so impressive that trolls don't make fun of it, and try to get included in his syndicates.14 VCs did this to them.15

Most people, most of the surprises. So the previously sharp line between angels and VCs. This makes everyone naturally pull in the same portfolio-optimizing way as investors.16 And there is a big motivator.17 These things don't get discovered that often. Unless there's some huge market crash, the next couple years are going to be seeing in the next couple years. And yet when I got back I didn't discard so much as a box of it. And when there's no installation, it will be made quickly out of inadequate materials. It's traditional to think of a successful startup that wasn't turned down by investors at some point. But that doesn't mean it's wrong to sell.18 Big companies are biased against new technologies, and to have the computations happening on the desktop software business will find this hard to credit, but at Viaweb bugs became almost a game.19 Plans are just another word for ideas on the shelf.

I wouldn't try it myself. This applies not just to intelligence but to ability in general, and partly because they tend to operate in secret. Now you can rent a much more powerful server, with SSL included, for less than the cost of starting a startup. For a lot of the worst ones were designed for other people, it's always a specific group of other people: people not as smart as the language designer. We're not hearing about Perl and Python because people are using them to write Windows apps. But if you look into the hearts of hackers, you'll see that they really love it.20 I am always looking.21 But you know perfectly well how bogus most of these are. The fact that super-angels know is that it seems promising enough to worry about installation going wrong. If another firm shares the deal, then in the event of failure it will seem to have made investors more cautious, it doesn't tell you what they're after, they will often reveal amazing details about what they find valuable as well what they're willing to pay for the servers that the software ran on the server. Why can't defenders score goals too? If coming up with ideas for startups?

Windows 10 evaluation : hands on with Windows 10 – the constructive return of the Start Menu and different Desktop UI options

Windows 10 overview: what’s Windows 10?

Microsoft in late 2014 took the wraps off the Technical Preview of its subsequent Windows working system, and in doing so it took everybody abruptly. We anticipated the following era of Windows: we simply did not anticipate it to be referred to as Windows 10. None the much less right here is Windows 10: the following Windows OS for PCs and laptops, smartphones and tablets . And, certainly, an OS for servers and all factors inbetween.

Microsoft execs said that Windows 10 would be built from the ground up for a world in which mobile- and cloud computing are key. They also told us that Microsoft was committed to making Windows 10 friendly for the enterprise, ideal for keyboard and mouse users, but also optimised for touch. Oh, and Windows 10 will put the same interface on devices with displays ranging in size from 4in to 80in. ‘One product family, one platform, one store,’ says Microsoft.

Given the lukewarm reaction to compromised Windows 8, these seem like bold claims. They are probably necessary.

Also necessary is Microsoft’s decision to make Windows 10 the most beta-tested product it has ever released. Windows 10 Technical Preview will be available to everyone who wants to test it from today – October 1 2014. Given that we don’t expect it to launch until the middle of next year, that is a longer test period than we have previously seen. And the version of Windows that Microsoft is sharing is very far from the final code. Microsoft tells us to expect the Charms to change, for instance.

Critically the Start Menu contains standard Windows software and Windows Apps. Modern UI apps. So you can use those apps from within the Desktop area. Hopefully this removes some of the pointless division in Windows on X86 systems. It should also help Microsoft make good on its claim that Windows 10 will feel familiar to Windows 7 users. But we are a long way from that just now.

All of which means that this article is very far from a final Windows 10 review. More of a flavour of what to expect. As yet there is no music, IE or video to be found. We’re guessing that won’t be the case come launch in 2015. We brought you live coverage of the Windows 10 launch event, and our colleague Mark Hachman – he works for our sister title PCWorld.com – spent some time getting hands on with Windows 10 Technical Preview, and gave us detailed thoughts on some of the new features. Windows 10 review: search improvements

Personally I think that universal search in Windows 8 is a much-undervalued feature. Searching to load up apps and files is much more efficient than navigating via apps and file systems. And going by the Technical Preview Microsoft has made strides in this area.

Because, quite simply, Windows 10 sees a search button added to the taskbar. This in one important move one of the few important aspects of the Windows 8 Start page is pulled into the Desktop. Microsoft officials tell us that Search and File Explorer now displays your recent files and frequently visited folders. This should make finding files you’ve worked on faster and easier. It’s difficult to test this on a demo machine, but we look forward to trying it out on the Technical Preview just as soon as we can get it installed.

Windows 10 review: Snap Assist and windowed apps

With Snap Assist every app in Windows 10 can be dynamically resized in a window. And unlike in Windows 8 – where a snapped app takes up half the screen – with Windows 10 up to four apps can be snapped per screen. This has the potential to be a killer productivity app – true multitasking in a single window.

Even better, Snap a document to one side of the screen, and Snap Assist will suggest others that you may wish to open. Snap an app and Windows 10 suggests another, similar app that you might want to snap next to it. Mark was impressed with his brief test: “The feature is intended to save you the hassle of hunting about through menus to actually construct a virtual desktop. Time will tell whether these suggestions will prove useful, but it’s a good start.

“You can see, however, that a number of different features – Snap Assist, windowed apps, virtual desktops – all flow somewhat organically into one another. I’m honestly interested to see what difference they make in my own daily workflow.”

Windows 10 review: the all-new Start Menu

Now we get on to the big stuff. The Start Menu is back, back, back baby. But this time it is improved, and it may even make Windows apps useful. Look to the left and you’ll see a list of frequently used apps and shortcuts to PC settings. Here you will also find documents and pictures folders. At the bottom we see an ‘All apps’ shortcut.

And Microsoft has retained the functionality of the Windows 8 Start screen over on the right, with resizeable Live Tiles so that you can immediately check unread mail or Calender appointments. The Start Menu is customisable – you can resize it, and rearrange the tabs, You can also revert to the Windows 8 Start page, should you wish to. Who will wish to?

Mark wasn’t impressed with the Windows 10 Start Menu’s looks, but he can see the beauty within: “Aesthetically, it looks like someone surgically conjoined the Windows 7 and Windows 8 experience. Move past that inelegance, however, and it’s darn useful.”

Windows 10 review: Task View, virtual desktops, ALT-TAB

Another useful and visual productivity enhancer is the way that Task View allows you to create a kind of multi-monitor setup within a single monitor. As with previous versions of Windows you can use ALT-TAB to quickly shuffle between windows. The killer difference here is the new Task View button. Third from the left in the Windows Taskbar is the Task View button. Press it – or hit Windows TAB – and you will see an array of ‘virtual desktops’, virtual displays into which you can snap multiple apps. So you could keep your email and web browser on one Desktop that you hide away when you are working on an Excel spreadsheet.

Potentially a very useful feature.

It is clearly much too early to give a verdict on Windows 10. We applaud Microsoft’s commitment to user-driven testing of Windows 10, and are excited about the possibility of fixing some of the problems with Windows 8 – particularly on the Desktop. We are a long way from being able to praise Windows 10, but the start is good. And, yes, that is in part because the Start Menu is good. 4,5 years of Gotham in my life♥

Wow my emotions these last days. I’m not much of a text poster on this site but when Gotham ended I really felt I wanted to write this!

Gotham has been a huge part of my life for so long now. 4 years and 7 months since the first episode aired, that’s some time gosh. And so much has happened during this journey! I just wanna mention some memorable things during these years. Like remember the pre-s02x09 excitement?? And other stuffs, ah here we go!

The first trailer made me SO EXCITE, I had wanted more batman villains content for years since I have always found the batman villains squad so interesting and good and unique characters, there is so much to explore here! And so the Gotham trailer came and I just OH MY GOD this is exactly what I want!! And so it started and it was amazing. My first love was Ed, it took him his first scene in ep1 to make me go totally THIS IS MY FAV! More eps went on and I required more Ed content. But then Oswald slowly grew on me kinda out of nowhere like I wasn’t expecting it. And when amazing ep7 aired it just hit down on me from the sky, like it does when I know I got a new obsession/fandom. Oswald’s amazing scenes in ep7 and I went ”Okay this is it, I’M DEEP INTO THIS NOW AND I LOVE IT!”. In exactly THIS↓ scene/moment I basically said those words out loud and realized this is my life now, ugh also one of my fav looks I miss the bangs:

Shortly after ep7 I started shipping Nygmobblepot, since we knew who these characters were and who they will end up being it made SO much sense in this show, they were like the two familiar main villains in kinda the same age and I also loved them both so I mean it was obvious for me. Man in the beginning we were so very few in the shipping Nygmob pond, in the OCEAN of Gobblepot. It was a bit of a struggle sometimes, ppl wrote hate on my Nygmob posts n stuff shrug. And I just didn’t get how not more ppl could see it? It would make more sense if this were new characters like they hadn’t even met but since we knew this is Riddler and Penguin it just was fate for them to cross paths soon enough! We needed Nygmob content! I started making tons of my own AU:s since if the show wouldn’t give us content I would do it.

BUT we had Robin & Cory with us! Reminder that Cory invented the shipname after 5 minutes and Robin & Cory’s amazing twitter activity during s1 especially I will always remember as a fav. Remember when they we’re so into roleplaying Nygmob and spoke how Ed & Os loved each other and all sorts of things. All about going to The Foxglove together and stuff. Ugh it was amazing, I miss their interactions.  

In this very smol pond is when one day my shining star @conscience-killer (aka okimi79)  approached me, with this ♥ ”Sometimes I feel we’re the only Nygmobblepot shippers in the world…well apart from Robin and Cory. We should have a secret handshake or something.”

And man did we get a secret handshake! Gosh MY DEAR OKIMI! That I up til this day since then has spoken with like everyday for 4,5 years, you are amazing ♥ And in that time of so few shippers it felt even more special, to have  someone else out there as obsessed as me. I’m so grateful we found each other at exactly that time and we’ve been through so much on this journey ♥.

When Nygmob in spring finally had their first scene it was so amazing and I have no idea how many times I have watched that scene to this day, and also with that the ship grew a bit yas!!

Let’s jump forward a bit. NYC Comic Con 2015 in fall, one of my fav Robin & Cory cons/interview times! Because the legendary ep 2x9 was soon upon us and OMG remember how excite they were in those interviews!?! And THEN, that fkn night THE episode aired. I couldn’t believe it was real, it was EVERYTHING we had dreamed of!!! SO MUCH NYGMOB CONTENT and so in character and gosh. Man their season 2 relationship is just so beautiful and I love it til this day and 2x9 is forever my favorite episode because it meant EVERYTHING for us shippers and more people also started seeing the connection between Nygmob and so more ppl started to make content and join in!

A time after another shining star came into my life, @constant-sinner (aka (riddlelvr) ♥ This amazing person and artist! And together with her and okimi I am part of the best trash family of three and I can’t believe I’ve been a mom (yet i’m the youngest but i’m fashion fur coat mom okay) to these trash sinners for like 4 years. ♥

Okay but remember all INSANE SMAYLOR CONTENT BEFORE SEASON 3!!? Man that was also one of the best times I had during these years. God they were so excite for their relationship in s3 and WEREN’T WE ALL! And omg Comic Con. I had my fkn header for 3 years soon lol, man that moment I remember seeing the signing booth stream all casual and Robin & Cory goes “Smaaylor!! Nygmobblepot!!! ;))” And I’m just wait WHUT omg. Their press tours with Sean is something I’ll miss even more than the episodes, always such a joy seeing those three together!

And when season 3 started it was just insane. To be honest how their relationship grew in s3 that’s how I expected it to grow after their meeting in s1, it made sense already back then. Ed admiring Oswald and sneaking to his club and Oswald would be a huge part of Ed’s journey to become the Riddler but ah well, I did my best with my AU:s back then!

And then s3 came and Gotham EXPLODED and I had no idea where all million ppl suddenly came from lol. It became huge. But since it still feels kinda close to this day (2,5 yrs though man), my most nostalgic feels will always be over s1-2 so I’m not gonna write so much about the season 3-5 times in this text. My closest to heart milestones is during the first years and now that I’ve seen all episodes I still think season 1 is the best overall, except the lack of Nygmob content ofc ;)

I’ve not just felt love for the show ofc, the show isn’t perfect. There has been serious flaws and bad writing and plot drops. Tbh s4 I just felt so NOPE about? 22 eps of waste…Like Ed’s plot for example like he barley had his own plot what happened? And we also have the q*eerbait Nygmob issue obviously. I have also felt the show has been a bit childish being -helloo- GOTHAM city we’re talking about? I think it would have been much better off with a MA-rating tbh to properly tell certain stories. After s4 though I’m glad in s5 Nygmob finally got some proper screen time being together and in character!! Like that’s how their relationship should have been from beginning of season 4, or season 1 if u ask me lol but ya know!

BUT I LOVE THIS SHOW, the amazing actors and characters and scenery and costumes!! Ed, Oswald, Robin & Cory will ofc always have the most special place in my heart ♥ The Nygmob journey in the show has meant so much to me to follow it from day one and I never knew how much this show would mean to me when I started back in the day.

This show. And not just the show itself but my journey and life around it!!? So much has happened. For one example I had made a bit of gifs before but Gotham really got me into gif making, and it’s been a joy sharing content and my Nygmob AU will always be among my most fun things I’ve done, it was like if they ain’t gonna give us enough content I WILL. It’s a fun way of gif making to manip scenes to create something new! And today I still enjoy making gifs, as you probably know heh. Thanks so much for all nice comments and reblogs through all these years ya’ll!! It warms my heart and I love to read reblog tags! 

I have been at con and got to meet Robin, enjoyed so many interviews and promos, chatted with wonderful people. Every Friday night I have been up in my Europe timezone at 2am to live watch the show, the workdays after has been a bit of a struggle of being tired with going to bed like 5am lol but man it’s been so nice to follow it when it airs!

Watching together with my dearest @conscience-killer and @constant-sinner . Two of the best that happened to me during these years. These two people that I’ve spoken with like everyday for 4 years! Through Gotham finding two of my dearest friends in my life. Watching the show together and screaming, crying, laughing during this journey, about not just the show but EVERYTHING in life. They also are amazing writers and artists ♥ And also helped me endless times with gif caption when my non-native brain trying to write gif captions at 3am after the episode lol. All my love to you both ♥

THANKS TO ALL AMAZING PEOPLE that impacted me over these years. The cast and nice fandom people! My dearest @conscience-killer and @constant-sinner. And I also wanna mention dear @millicentcordelia and @selene-volturo that are amazing ppl that have been here with me since the very beginning of season 1. And they have always been so down to earth even during the stormiest periods of this show’s existence ♥ I’m so glad we’ve shared this LONG journey!

I’m actually okay with the show ending now you know. Ofc it’s a bit sad but as I said I felt s4 was kinda stomping around in the same spot and even s5 had some fillers like they didn’t have more to do to push the story forward? The last ep was a nice easter egg wrap up for this LONG journey. And I mean shows live on with fan content, and who knows maybe it will return somehow? But it feels good they told us it would end so I was prepared for this and to say ”goodbye”. But it’s not goodbye because content will continue on this site and I’ll continue re-enjoy this show!

This is 4,5 years. In 2 pages, I could prob write 20 but ah, but i felt I got to to summary the most important things for me over these years ♥. This show and stuff that came with it will always be such a big part of my life, ALL LOVE AND HUGS!

So... I don’t know if any of you guys are still here or even following me. I’ve kind of done a lot with my life since I last updated this. & I’ve finally returned!

So, in terms of my life I’ve recently got to the point that I need to document things more. Life really is too short, and you should always try if you can to look back on all the amazing memories you have made rather than look back to the bad times. Which, let’s face it... looking back on the bad stuff is easier than the good. Therefore, that leads me to now... where I’m going to document my day to day life, things people may not know, things people do know. You might decide to love my updates, you might decide to hate them however, quite honestly this is more for me than you. 🙊

When I came back onto tumblr my bio said I was a 21yo forensic scientist in training... my my my what an ambitious fool I was. This brings me to my first point:

1. I completed my Bachelors in forensic science & graduated with honours. I can officially add these little letters after my last name. BSc (hons). 👩🏻‍🎓

2. I then tried my absolute damndest to get a job within the forensic sector... & failed. Hard. Bad. Big style. So, I thought, hey just any science field would do & landed myself in a great company working my way up from Laboratory Assistant upto Laboraoty Technician. Great move in 3.5 years. In that time I got engaged, rented a house, had a holiday abroad with my then fiancé and we bought our puppy, Ollie. 🐶

3. Choosing a dog, people put so much pressure on this... why? Big or little? Curly or straight? Boy or girl? Black or white? Full colour or markings? Seriously just go and see the damn puppy and make a justified decision or better yet, let them choose you! Myself & Bas (my then fiancé, you’ll hear a lot about him by the way) saw an advert on Boxing Day 2015 about a little scruffy Heinz 57 type of dog up for sale. After debating we decided to contact and see if he was still available. He was! We went to advertise ourselves to him, see if he loved us and if in turn he would accept us as his new mummy and daddy. He curled up in my arms for a snuggle and played with his brothers and sisters afterwards with these crazily long long legs that towered above all of his siblings. Perfection! Utter perfection!! We picked him up ready for his new home within our little family on New Years Day 2016.

4. When we took our first Christmas trip to Holland in 2016, on the ferry coming back home to England after letting Ollie have his midnight pee time, back in our cabin, Bas proposed. Happiest day ever! He presented a glorious ring, of which I happily accepted and from then on, we started to plan our wedding & inform all family members of course!

5. After a while in our little rented home with our puppy dog, both myself & Bas got a bit ambitious and decided to go for different jobs at the same time which resulted in us moving again, and changing jobs. Very stressful period, as previously mentioned we were planning our wedding and moving into jobs that neither of us would know if we enjoyed. Bas’s job was SO different yet mine was similar but allowed me the prospects to progress easier & the work was a hella lot more interesting (& a lot more money... always a bonus!!). So we packed up, moved & rented another property. 🏠

6. At this point we’re pretty settled within the companies we’ve joined, as both being there for roughly a year & both had promotions, we decided to book THE VENUE & go crazy!! Bridezilla enters!! We want the perfect day, we want the perfect flowers, we want the perfect photographs, we want Ollie to be the ring bearer, we want the perfect dress with a special added twist... okay that last point might of only been me. 🙈

7. In the midst of forking out for our wedding, we got hit with the... “Sorry tenants, however we want to sell the property, would you like to buy it?” Obviously our first response was “holy fuck! How could this happen? We don’t have the money! We’re paying for a wedding!! Do we want to be tied to a property? Do we want to be tied to THIS property?” So the house search continued where we made the decision with a little help from the van Os family, to buy our very first home. To which we found the perfect one... just down the road, cheapest around, good prospects, a little bit of a fixer upper but nothing we couldn’t sort. We put in an offer & BAM it was accepted. We’re now home owners! 🏡

8. Our wedding was booked 6 months after we received the keys to our brand new abode. Stress was a understatement. We had to decorate, fund a wedding & Christmas was approaching pretty quickly! When Our dog was then attacked by a nasty staffy. Now, before I get any hate messages I do NOT blame the dog. I blame the owners! Dogs are not born nasty they are bred that way. But irrelevant, my baby boy was viciously attacked! How could somebody let their dog do this? I was holding my baby boy whilst this horrible brat dogs jaws were clamped around my boys throat! I was in bits... my boy was crying and crying and then the owner got his dogs jaws to open and we drove straight to the vets. Ollie was okay... a few cuts, bruise and puncture wounds. Some painkillers and a watchful night & plenty of treats and cuddles was in order. We were lucky! Not many other dog parents come off so lucky. 🍀

9. After a full recovery made from Ollie, we slowly started to decorate our new house and move in. Wedding plans continue. How do you choose who to sit where and why? How are we going to get the whole of my fiancé’s family over from the Netherlands? Mothers of the bride and groom were invaluable in their advice and expertise of directing people. My dad, bless his heart kept me sane the whole time and helped me with the “fuck it” attitude of its our wedding, have it how we like it. So we did. On the 1st February 2019 myself & Bas tied the knot. We’re married. We’re home owners. We’re mummy and daddy to a dog. WERE ADULTING!! & now I have new letters to add to my last name. van Os! I decided to double barrel as I currently am working on some studies of which my name will be presented on these posters/abstracts/papers. & also, I have been a Wilson for 27 years I really didn’t want to give that up however I didn’t want to not take my now husbands name so it was decided I am now: Mrs Rebecca Wilson-van Os. How fancy!! 👰🏻

Now that kind of brings you upto speed, two jobs, 3 houses, graduation, buying a puppy, engagement, marriage, life in general. Hopefully I won’t leave it this long again.

F/O Ask Meme No. 11. How old were you when you & your F/O(s) first met?

   E-EVERYONE ISN’T A POSSIBILITY, MY FRIEND…. I currently have 114 F/Os (and counting), like… Oh no.

   So, um… Let’s do this by fandom alone? Specifically Borderlands, since that’s my hyperfocus at the moment. ;; w ;;

   I was thinking about answering this “in-universe” but then realized, wait… I’d have to find my math on that. And do some more. And also Zer0 doesn’t…seem to have a definite age, to my memory? Considering their whole existence is a mystery.

   So I’ll just sum this up as: I met them all earlier this year, actually! Sometime Feb-March, about. The specific date escapes me~ Something I should’ve kept track of, in retrospect, but I’m terrible with my memory anywho.

3. Who asked who out first?

Handsome Jack: Actually… Funnily enough, nobody asked? Like, you know that saying “wham, bam, thank you, ma’am?” Change it to “wham, bam, I guess we’re dating now” and that’s what happened between Jack and I. Not at all planned, but look….. I’m an idiot who doesn’t plan things and what Jack wants, he gets. I have no complaints to that, so here we are.

Nisha: Nisha did! In…an interesting way, but the point is there was definitely a dating period and her dragging me here and there when she found the time to do so.

Zer0: I had to…! Zer0′s kinda in-and-out all of the time, so… I had to confirm interest by bringing up dates before Zer0 proceeded to take the reigns. A good thing, considering my confidence is shot to hell and also he’s the busier one of the two of us, so–

Timothy: HE DID. It was so, so, soso cute, too…. Absolutely embarrassed, stuttering over his words from the sheer nervousness he felt… It melted my heart and my worries away too, sappy as it is to say~

Rhys: Uhhhh, man… He tried? Multiple times?? But I never noticed, whoops. See, the thing is…I’m super oblivious. So unless it’s forward and blunt? I’d never notice it. So I guess he kinda did, but it didn’t sink in until a year or two later. (Oops.)

5. Does your F/O have any silly nicknames for you?

Handsome Jack: A number far too large for anyone to take a guess at. Jack loves his silly petnames and so when it comes to getting crazier… He lives up to it, basically. Some examples include: pretending he doesn’t know my name (”Becky” and “Becca” are the choice ones; he means it with anyone else- since he doesn’t care- but it’s a joke around me….the smug smile says all when I glare at him), petname rapid-fire (“pumpkin, babydoll, sweetheart, cutiepie,” he says…all in a row and maybe a few more), and loving insults (“c’mere, stupid~”).

Nisha: Honestly… Shares the same sentiments with Jack. Largely, however, the loving insults; it’s truly affection when she tells me to “get over here, bitch.” Anyone else would confuse it for verbal abuse, but… If you did, then you really don’t know Nish and when she really gets nasty. (In short: being called a “bitch” is practically daisies compared to the foul language she’ll spew when truly angry).

Zer0: Not really… Zer0 is pretty upfront and- while they can be pretty silly- typically stay within their own “realm” of silliness. That being said, they have called me “Grem-Grem” before.

Timothy: “Baaabbyyy kitten, love of my life~?” That exact phrase is his go-to for a variety of reasons. Typically if he’s been: badly hurt, needs something, or both. He tries to use his given face to his advantage, but it only makes me suspicious…

Rhys: None that I can think of at the moment…? Like, you might expect him to have some, but-? He actually does not!

7. Do you like to cuddle with your F/O(s)?

Handsome Jack: Of course!! But only with preparation. Once Jack clings, he does not. Let. Go. It’s a blessing and a curse, wrapped up in one.

Nisha: Well, yes, but it also depends…? Largely on the note that it’s sometimes difficult to get cuddles from her…and once she’s got Lynchwood, not only does it KEEP being difficult, but she’s also prone to needing a shower first before I wanna be clingy. Jack actually washes up; Nisha…likes wearing the blood of her enemies as a show of power. Which works, but… C’mon, babe. :/

Zer0: I would love to cuddle them more, but the thing is… Zer0 is hard to pin down. When it’s not work, it’s trying to convince them to be casually dressed long enough for relaxation time… It’s tough, with them so touch and go, but I manage.

Timothy: All. The Time. With the added benefit of freedom when I wish it!! I mean, he whines and grumbles if I gotta escape, but otherwise lets me go and goes back to clinging when I return. So it’s good~

Rhys: Yes! Not as much as I’d like, but… I mean, what can you do? We’re both busy with stuff, so… Plentiful cuddles aren’t always a possibility, you know? And that’s alright!

9. When was your first kiss with your F/O(s)?

Handsome Jack: ….I’m legally not allowed to talk about that. Hah…haha……. [sweats]

Nisha: She was talking about one of her adventures while I was working on a project idea. I was absolutely listening and actually multi-tasking! For once!! But she decided it wasn’t enough? Proceeded to nab my full attention and distract me with a quick kiss before returning to her favorite part and continuing on… H a h. Geez.

Zer0: Not sure if…mask kisses count or not? If they do, first smooch was on their mask after we made things official!!! If not, that was a few months later on their downtime, when I first saw their face…. Best way to spend those quiet few days? You bet.

Timothy: An awkward first not long after his confession~! We rammed our noses together, but laughed over it, tried again, got it right… Had a lovingly calm moment and that happiness on his face… I never wanna forget that.

Rhys: A few weeks after he finally got the chance to confess to me. He kinda…bumbled around it during that time, I didn’t have much bravery to help out either… Ugh, it was super awkward all around!! But eventually we were chilling out, watching some…movie I no longer remember the name of and he kissed my forehead. I told him he missed, he asked if I was sure, and… Yeah…~

11. Do you & your F/O(s) go out a lot or tend to stay in more?

Handsome Jack: Ehhh, we go for lots of walks around Helios, but as far as going off station? Not that. Jack’s kinda….paranoid after everything else that’s happened to him. I can’t blame him for that, honestly.

Nisha: Go out a lot! Nish has things to do and spending it shooting up assholes of all kinds is typically what ends up happening at some point or another.

Zer0: Stay in. His work is already kind of…troublesome, to say the least? So staying inside keeps things easier. Less of a chance of people realizing who I’m out with and causing trouble.

Timothy: Both…? Kinda? He likes going out and about, but it’s also a touch of an issue when he looks like Jack, you know? So at home is also a benefit, like that… We do what we can to make the best of any outing~

Rhys: Both for sure! He’s still no good with bandits, but that’s why I’ve got genetically modified dragons~ Which…have only been getting bigger through the generations… Which is incredible, honestly.

13. What’s your favourite activity you & your F/O(s) do together?

Handsome Jack: Honestly…? Getting to be lazy and not having to do work while he has to do his own work. Like, yeah, he could clear the day’s schedule cause “Boss says so”, but… I get to sit in his lap and relax while he does work and grumbles over the bullshit other people “put him through” (he’s just impatient and full of himself). It’s weirdly fun and an ego boost that the only reason his temper hasn’t exploded is bc I’m with him.

Nisha: Watch Nisha host Lynchwood’s ever-famous, well, lynchings. Look, despite the fact she’s my girlfriend, I’m not huge on the whole…murder-thing, but at the same time… The thrill and excitement she has makes for a curious watch. (The sounds still haunt me, though. Especially those who enter Lynchwood without realizing the harsh climate for what it is and pay for it with their life. I…feel bad for those ones.)

Zer0: Listen to Zer0 tell stories. We cuddle up on the couch, they keep their voice low and smooth… I doze off every time, not completely asleep. They’ve told me time and time again they find that adorable.

Timothy: Laying in bed and talking about our ideal futures. Tim wants to get rid of most of the whole…Jack look (he’s accepted this body is more or less near-impossible to fully fix back to how he used to be). Get his freckles back… Get a bunch of cats and a find a peaceful place to settle. I asked him if he was insinuating something… He avoided the question. Hmm…

Rhys: Honestly?? Working together. It’s such an oddly intimate thing? I always appreciated him visiting me before- back on Helios, as Hyperion employees- but now that it’s an actual, equal-footing standpoint it makes for a more interesting relationship!! Talking about this and that, keeping things in line… It’s more enjoyable then you’d first realize.

15. Who cooks for who most often?

Handsome Jack: We both don’t have to; he’s got cooks that do shit on his whim. However……. While it’s not cooking, I do take the chance to bake some stuff when I find the time to do so~! So I contribute that.

Nisha: We both do. Nisha’s better at cooking than I am, but it’s up to me to bring in the recipes she never would’ve heard of otherwise~ Heheh.

Zer0: They typically bring takeout, but… I do try to cook in order to treat them a little. I’m not terrible at it, but it makes my anxiety fry up, so… Kinda like with Jack, I stick to baking; for some reason, it’s a lot less stressful for me.

Timothy: Tim loves to cook, if you’d believe it. He’s about just as nervous as I am, if not a little less, so… Yeah! Though kinda like me, we both enjoy baking far more.

Rhys: We both buy food, so…neither, I suppose! And yes, the baking thing still applies. HOWEVER. He’s not allowed in the kitchen when I do; otherwise the greedy jerk tries to swipe for the batter/dough. No, not until I’m done!!! You can have the leftovers!! Good heavens….

1. They claim inspiration.

The Old Testament declares itself written under a special inspiration from God. The expression "and God said", or equivalent, is used over 2600 times. History, law, psalms, and prophecies are declared to be written by men under special inspiration from God. We do this first, not so that we can believe they are right, but because we feel they are right; secondly, it is a natural cause for joy to be able to point out external evidences of the things we believe in our hearts; finally, these proofs serve as a vehicle and receptacle, so to speak, by which we can express in words our inner conviction, and in this way "always being prepared to answer anyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that is in you" (1 Pet. 3:15).

As Escrituras se dizem inspiradas; um exame delas revelará o fato de que seu caráter sustenta essa posição. A Bíblia, ao se apresentar em juízo, o faz com bom testemunho! Quanto a seus autores, foi ela escrita por homens cuja honestidade e integridade não podem ser postas em dúvida; quanto ao seu conteúdo, há nele a mais sublime revelação de Deus ao mundo; quanto à influência, tem trazido a luz salvadora às nações e indivíduos, e possui um poder infalível para guiar os homens a Deus e transformar-lhes o caráter; quanto à sua autoridade, desempenha o papel dum tribunal supremo em assuntos religiosos, de maneira que até mesmo os cultos falsos são obrigados a citar suas palavras para poderem impressionar o público. 1) Sua exatidão. Nota-se a ausência total dos absurdos que se encontram em outros livros "sagrados". não lemos, por exemplo, que a terra saísse dum ovo, tendo transcorrido certo número de anos para a sua incubação, descansando ele sobre uma tartaruga; a terra rodeada por sete mares de água salgada, suco de cana, bebidas alcoólicas, manteiga pura, leite coalhado, etc. Escreve o Dr. D. Fazemos isto primeiramente, não para poder crer que são certas, mas sim porque sentimos que são certas; em segundo lugar, é natural motivo de alegria poder apontar evidências externas das coisas que cremos no coração; finalmente, estas provas servem de veiculo e receptáculo, por assim dizer, pelos quais podemos expressar em palavras a nossa convicção íntima, e dessa maneira "estando sempre preparados para responder a qualquer que vos pedir a razão da esperança que há em vos" (1 Ped. 3:15). 

4. Provam ser inspiradas.

The Holy Martyr Eupsychios (362)

The Holy Martyr Eupsychios was born in the city of Caesarea Cappadocia and received a Christian upbringing by his illustrious parents.      During the time of the reign of Julian the Apostate (361-363), Saint Eupsychios entered into Christian wedlock.      At Caesarea there was then a pagan temple to the goddess Fortuna [i.e. "fortune" or "luck"], very revered by Julian the Apostate. At the same time as Eupsychios was going in to the wedding ceremony, the pagans were making offering of sacrifice to the goddess Fortuna.      Saint Eupsychios was ardent with zeal for the Lord, and he gathered the people and destroyed the temple. He knew, that this would inevitably result in punishment for him. Saint Eupsychios distributed all his substance to the poor and prepared himself for the act of martyrdom.      The enraged emperor Julian hurled his wrath not only upon Saint Eupsychios, but against all the inhabitants of this city. Some of the citizens he executed, the more respectable he sent into exile, Christian clergy were conscripted into military service, and from the churches he looted anything of value. The city was deprived of its title Caesarea (i.e. "Imperial") and turned into a simple village with its original name of Maza, and on the inhabitants he imposed a grievous tribute-tax. The emperor threatened to annihilate the city altogether, if the people did not build a new pagan temple in place of the one destroyed.      Julian ordered Saint Eupsychios to be compelled by tortures to offer sacrifice to idols. Over the course of many days they tormented the saint upon a rack, and likewise with iron claws. But his faith was firm, and the judge gave sentence to behead the martyr with the sword (+ 362). At this time Julian, having set out on a campaign against the Persians, marched through Cappadocia and approached Carsarea. Danger threatened the city, since the emperor intended to raze it to its foundations. But then the archbishop of the city, Sainted Basil the Great (+ 379, Comm. 1 January), showing Julian the proper respect as sovereign authority, came out to meet him carrying with him three loaves of barley bread, which he himself ate from. The emperor ordered his retainers to take the loaves, and to give Saint Basil a pinch of hay with the words: "Thou hast given us barley, cattle feed, so in return receive hay from us". The saint answered: "O emperor, we bring thee that which we ourselves do eat, and thou dost give us cattle feed; thou dost make mockery over us, since thou art not able by thy might to transform hay into bread – the essential food of mankind". Julian angrily replied: "Know thou, that this hay I shalt shove down thy throat, when I am returned hence from Persia. And I shalt raze this city to its very foundations and on its place plow over the ground and turn it into a field. I do very well know, that it was through thine advice, that the people dared to destroy the statuary and temple of Fortuna".      After this the emperor continued on his way, but soon perished in his campaign against the Persians. He was struck down in the year 363 by the holy GreatMartyr Mercurius (Comm. 24 November, q.v.).      And after the emperor's demise, the Christians of the city of Caesarea erected a splendid church over the grave of Saint Eupsychios, and from his relics they received help and healing.

The Holy MonkMartyr Vadim the Archimandrite (379)

     The Holy MonkMartyr Vadim the Archimandrite was born in the IV Century in the Persian city of Bythlapata, and was descended from a rich and illustrious family. In his youthful years he was enlightened with the Christian teaching. The saint gave away part of his substance and withdrew into the wilderness, where on his means he founded a monastery. For solitary prayer he would go up on a mountain, and once was vouchsafed to behold the Glory of God. During this period the Persian emperor Sapor (310-381) began to persecute Christians. They arrested Saint Vadim together with his seven disciples and daily they tortured them in the prison, seeking to have them renounce Christ and instead worship the sun and fire. But the Monk Vadim and his disciples held firmly to their Christian faith. The confessors spent four months locked up. All this time Saint Vadim was a spiritual leader and support for the Christians living in Persia.

    One of the associates of the emperor Sapor, Nirsanes, having confessed Christianity and suffering imprisonment for this, did not hold up under torture and recanted from Christ. He promised to fulfill whatever might be the orders of the emperor. Sapor demanded of Nirsanes, that he personally should chop off the head of Saint Vadim. For this he was promised a reprieve and rewards. Nirsanes was not able to overcome in himself the fear of new tortures and he agreed to enter upon the path of betrayal walked by Judas. When they brought Saint Vadim to him, he took the sword and turned towards him, but overcome by conscience, he trembled and stood petrified. Saint Vadim said to him: "Is thine misdeed, Nirsanes, now come to this, that thou shouldst not only renounce God, but also begin to murder His servants? Woe to thee, accursed one, what wilt thou do on that day, when thou standest before the Dread Judgement-Seat to give answer to God? It is with joy that I die a martyr for Christ, but I want not to accept death at thy hand". Beside himself, Nirsanes struck with the sword. But his hands shook, and he could not again strike at the head of the saint, and the fire-worshippers began to call him a coward. The MonkMartyr Vadim stood motionless, enduring the terrible blows, until the murderer succeeded in cutting off his head (+ 376). The just rewards for apostasy were not slow to overtake the hapless fellow: torn by conscience, he did away with himself, having thrown himself on a sword. After the death of the emperor Sapor, the seven disciples of the MonkMartyr Vadim were released from prison.

I'VE BEEN PONDERING ANYONE

Because kids are unable to create wealth, but to spend it doing fake work. Life is short, as everyone knows. And what drives them both is the number of startups are created to do product development on spec for some big company, and assume you could build something way easier to use. You could also rob banks, or solicit bribes, or establish a monopoly. In any period, it should be helpful to anyone who wants to understand the feeling of virtue in liking them. Plenty of famous founders have had some failures along the way. A few weeks ago I finally figured it out.1 03% false positives.2

That makes sense, because programs are in effect giant descriptions of how things get made. Treating a startup idea as a question changes what you're looking for. In school you are, in theory, explaining yourself to someone else. We're more patient. Moral fashions don't seem to get sued much by established competitors. Once you realize how little most people judging you care about judging you accurately—once you realize that because of the normal distribution of most applicant pools, it matters least to judge accurately in precisely the cases where judgement has the most effect—you won't take rejection so personally. The space of possible choices is smaller; you tend to standardize everything. What VCs should be looking for companies that hope to win by writing great software, but there is no permanent place in this world for ugly mathematics? In fact, you don't take a position and then defend it. This one may not always be true. It hadn't occurred to me till then that those horrible things we had to read in English classes was mostly fiction, so I know most won't listen.

This second group adopt the fashion not because they want to work for people with high standards. This is a talk I gave at the last minute I cooked up this rather grim talk. When a company starts misbehaving, smart people won't work there. So verbs with initial caps have higher spam probabilities than they would in all lowercase. And the source of error is not just random variation, but a Times Roman lowercase g is easy to tell apart.3 Such judgements can of course counter by sending a crawler to the site, you wouldn't need PR firms to tell you, because hackers would already be writing stuff on top of it. Cultivate a habit of questioning assumptions.4 Nature uses it a lot, which is the satisfaction of people's desires. When watches had mechanical movements, expensive watches kept better time. But something seems to come with practice.

So even in the middle of getting rich we were fighting off the grim reaper. It seems like it violates some kind of answer. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could achieve a 50% success rate? It's more a question of self-preservation.5 You have to do whatever seems best at each point. So my first prediction about the future of web startups.6 It's not just an airy intangible. Everyone's model of work you grew up with a million dollar idea is just a convenient way of trading one form of wealth for another. That is certainly true.

So odds are this is, in projects of their own. When I heard about this work I was a kid I used to calculate probabilities for tokens, both would have the same kind of office or rather, hacker opinion.7 So obviously that is what we are, founders think.8 It's absolute poverty you want to get real work done in an office with cubicles, you have to say, are evil. Mostly because they're optimistic by nature. I'm going to try to recast one's work as a single thesis. And so began the study of ancient texts had such prestige that it remained the backbone of education until the late 19th century. I met some investors that had invested in a hardware device and when I asked them what was the most significant thing they'd observed, it was mostly political. But while DH levels don't set a lower bound on the convincingness of a reply, they do set an upper bound, bearing in mind the small sample size. The remarkable thing about this project was that he got in trouble for.9 It was only after hearing reports of friends who'd done it that they decided to start a startup to starting one, and eventually someone will discover it.10 They may be enough to kill all the opt-in lists.

The church knew this would set people thinking. Since the invention of the quartz movement, an ordinary Timex is more accurate than a Patek Philippe costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. The reason is not just text; it has structure. An office environment is supposed to be something that helps you work, not something you read looking for a specific answer, and feel cheated if you don't have significant success to cheer you up, it wears you out: Your most basic advice to founders is just don't die, but the thousand little things the big company doesn't want to imagine a world in which high school students think they need to get good grades to impress employers, within which the employees waste most of their time in political battles, and from which consumers have to buy anyway because there are so many kinks in the plumbing now that most people don't even realize is there. There's nothing special about physical embodiments of control systems that should make them patentable, and the examiners reply by throwing out some of your claims and granting others. I learnt never to bet on any one feature or deal or anything to bring you success. Underneath the long words or the expressive brush strokes, there is no way to get rich. These get through because they're the one type of sales pitch you can make enormous gains playing around in problem-space. But you have to redefine the problem to make them irrelevant. In more organized societies, like China, the ruler and his officials used taxation instead of confiscation. Every engraver since Durer has had to live in Silicon Valley, that use of the word, Bill Gates is middle class.

So what to make of this. Few people are suited to running a startup can be demoralizing. I think things are changing. The problem is compounded by the fact that hackers, despite their reputation for social obliviousness, sometimes put a good deal of effort into seeming smart. But though it's not anger that's driving the increase in disagreement, there's a danger that they'll follow a long, hard path that ultimately leads nowhere. In the period just before the industrial revolution, some of the most pointless of all the great programmers I can think of who don't work for Sun, on Java, I know of zero. Descartes, though claimed by the French, did much of his thinking in Holland.11 But hackers use their offices for more than that.

Boston is a tech center to the same cause: Gates and Allen wanted to move back to Palo Alto, where he grew up, and they tend to do particularly well, because they're easier to see, because they generally don't die loudly and heroically. I'd spent more time with her. One of the most valuable thing they've discovered. But the breakage seems to affect software less than most other fields. England and France were made by courtiers who extracted some lucrative right from the crown—like the right to collect taxes on the import of silk—and so they don't try do to it. INTRODUCTION.

This Book takes its name from the holy man, of whom it treats; who, according to the more probable opinion, was of the race of Esau, and the same as Jobab, king of Edom, mentioned Gen. xxxvi. 33. It is uncertain who was the writer of it. Some attribute it to Job himself; others to Moses, or some one of the prophets. In the Hebrew it is written in verse, from the beginning of the third chapter to the forty-second chapter. Ch. --- The beginning and conclusion are historical, and in prose. Some have divided this work into a kind of tragedy, the first act extending to C. xv., the second to C. xxii., the third to C. xxxviii., where God appears, and the plot is unfolded. They suppose that the sentiments of the speakers are expressed, though not their own words. This may be very probable: but the opinion of those who look upon the work as a mere allegory, must be rejected with horror. The sacred writers speak of Job as of a personage who had really existed, (C.) and set the most noble pattern of virtue, and particularly of patience. Tob. ii. 12. Ezec. xiv. 14. Jam. v. 11. Philo and Josephus pass over this history, as they do those of Tobias, Judith, &c. H. --- The time when Job lived is not clearly ascertained. Some have supposed (C.) that he was a contemporary with Esther; (D. Thalmud) on which supposition, the work is here placed in its chronological order. But Job more probably live during the period when the Hebrews groaned under the Egyptian bondage, (H.) or sojourned in the wilderness. Num. xiv. 9. The Syrians place the book at the head of the Scriptures. C. --- Its situation has often varied, and is of no great importance. The subject which is here treated, is of far more; as it is intended to shew that the wicked sometimes prosper, while the good are afflicted. H. --- This had seldom been witnessed before the days of Abraham: but as God had now selected his family to be witnesses and guardians of religion, a new order of things was beginning to appear. This greatly perplexed Job himself; who, therefore, confesses that he had not sufficiently understood the ways of God, till he had deigned to explain them in the parable of the two great beasts. C. xlii. 3. We cannot condemn the sentiments expressed by Job, since God has declared that they were right, (ib. v. 8) and reprimands Elihu, (C. xxxviii. 2.) and the other three friends of Job, for maintaining a false opinion, though, from the history of past times, they had judge it to be true. This remark may excupate them from the stain of wilful lying, and vain declamation. Houbigant. --- However, as they assert what was false, their words of themselves are of no authority; and they are even considered as the forerunners of heretics. S. Greg. S. Aug. &c. T. --- Job refutes them by sound logic. S. Jerom. --- We may discover in this book the sum of Christian morality, (W.) for which purpose it has been chiefly explained by S. Gregory. The style is very poetical, (H.) though at the same time simple, like that of Moses. D. --- It is interspersed with many Arabic and Chaldaic idioms; (S. Jer.) whence some have concluded, that it was written originally by Job and his friends (H.) in Arabic, and translated into Heb. by Moses, for the consolation of his brethren. W. --- The Heb. text is in many places incorrect; (Houbig.) and the Sept. seem to have omitted several verses. Orig. --- S. Jerom says almost eight hundred, (C.) each consisting of about six words. H. --- Shultens, in 1747, expressed his dissatisfaction with the labours of all preceding commentators. To explain this book may not therefore be an easy task: but we must be as short as possible. H. --- Those who desire farther information, may consult Pineda, (W.) whose voluminous work, in two folios, will nearly (H.) give all necessary information. C.

Ver. 1. Cursed his day. Job cursed the day of his birth, not by way of wishing evil to any thing of God's creation; but only to express in a stronger manner his sense of human miseries in general, and of his own calamities in particular. Ch. --- He has these only in view: though, in another light, it is better for a man to be born, and to undergo any misery, that he may obtain eternal rewards. H. --- Some allowances must be made for extreme pain, and for the style of the Eastern (C.) poetry. H. --- Jeremias, (xx. 14.) Habacuc, (i. 2.) the psalmist, and even our Saviour in his agony, made use of such strong expressions. Mat. xxvi. 39. and xxvii. 46. Some heretics accuse Job of impatience and blasphemy. The devil, therefore came off with victory; and the praises given to Job's patience are false. He might offend by some degree of exaggeration. C. --- But even that is by no means clear. Time past could not be recalled, nor receive any injury by the maledictions. H.

So many, many, many years ago (remember, I’m old) I was heavily involved in following a television love triangle where the female lead was trying to decide between her shoehorned-in would-be boyfriend and the offscreen father of her infant children and longtime love interest, who was no longer on the show because the actor playing him had become very, very famous and left the show.

I was not in favor of the woman in the middle of this triangle becoming errrr . . . physically involved with the would-be boyfriend while still debating whether to get back together with the father of her children, especially as the would-be boyfriend seemed completely unaware of the other person in this triangle.

I was told over and over again (on Usenet: remember, old) by people supposedly much wiser and more mature than myself that this behavior was perfectly normal and healthy and not at all abusive or inconsiderate to the parties involved and when I grew up I would learn to appreciate how infidelity and dishonesty were just part of how adult relationships worked.

In retrospect, this seems a little silly, as the person at the center of this triangle was not having sex with her would-be boyfriend or her long-time love interest, but none of us knew that at the time I was being lectured.

In the next couple of years, I became very well aware how cheating and deceit are a large part of how so-called adults choose to deal with each other.

In fact, I have spent the majority of my life cleaning up the damage that’s left behind in the wake of these adult activities. I’ve heard all of the excuses and rationalizations when people decide that feeling good and getting revenge takes precedence over any sense of loyalty or commitment or human decency.

I’m the person that cleans up the emotional carnage when you see what Lorelai did to Luke in Partings happens in real life.

It’s horrible and messy and utterly disastrous to the people on the other side of it and those that have to take care of them or their children.

And it hurts.

I have not changed my mind about these kinds of activities being a normal, accepted part of adult life. In fact, now that I’ve seen the consequences in live, bloody detail, I am more convinced than ever how wrong they are.

Growing up doesn’t always mean abandoning your conscience. Sometimes it means remembering why you have to hold onto it.

And I have zero tolerance for any bullshit justifications, either in life or in fiction.

So in my many instances of cleaning up the detritus that gets left behind when these incidents occur, there are a few things I can tell you for sure.

Talking isn’t the same as fucking.

“I was emotional” is not an adequate excuse for one’s behavior.

If someone is granted forgiveness immediately for either of the aforementioned reasons, there is a 100% change they will do it again when the next crisis hits. People do what they get away with. Period.

Is there a way to forgiveness and repentance in all of this? Sure. But it can’t be immediate. And it can’t be easy. I’ve found that if it is, the offending party will end up doing the same thing. Over and over.

So why am I bringing this up?

Okay, so I’m getting to the really difficult parts of my post OS series Boundaries.

Obviously, there are real life reasons why I feel so strongly about what happened in the show. And I’m going to be pretty harsh on Lorelai in the next few chapters. There are a lot of things I needed to say about the situation, and I think that there are some things that Luke needed to say to Lorelai that he didn’t get to say in the show.

It’s okay for him to feel hurt and angry and betrayed about what happened to him just as much as it’s okay for the real-life Lukes to feel that way. And it’s okay for me to say that here, because it was okay for me to feel that way, even if these people are not real.

I have been there when they have been real.

The last review on this story was pretty rough. It’s from someone who is fairly influential in the L/L fanfic world, who is involved behind the scenes in a lot of different stories. This person was not fond of the fact that I did not make Lorelai a martyr who is blameless for her actions and a helpless pawn of the men around her. I understand that some fans really seem to recoil at the idea that she bore any responsibility for her own behavior, and this particular person seems pretty hostile to the fact that it was wrong in any way.

But the fact is that she did something pretty terrible, that was considered a betrayal by both people involved, and she did not shy away from the consequences. I didn’t write that. The show did. And as awful as season 7 was in some ways, I’m glad that they didn’t back away from it.

It was Lorelai who only told Luke about his indiscretion because she knew it was the one thing that would drive him away for good. It was Lorelai who told Sookie that telling him was one of the worst moments of her life. It was Lorelai who insisted to Rory that it was a mistake when Rory yelled at her for placing her in the middle of her accursed late thirtysomething love triangle. It was Lorelai who eventually apologized and said she should have done it a lot sooner.

I’m not putting anything out there that Lorelai didn’t admit to a long, long time ago.

Of course, Luke was not a martyr in this mess, either, and I’m not going to make him one. He did a lot of really fucked up things for a long time, and I plan to call him on them. It’s not a one-sided situation for either of the people here.

I’m not going to block or name the person that left me that review.  I’m not really sure why she was upset that I’m letting Lorelai take responsibility for her actions in the story I’m writing, since I already mentioned half a dozen times that she feels fairly guilty about her part in what went wrong. But that’s her opinion, and she’s entitled to it, and I actually welcome bad (and good!) reviews. I just wanted to explain for my part how I view the situation.

So now I will shut up about this topic and get back to writing.

1. They claim inspiration.

The Old Testament claims to be written under a special inspiration from God. The expression "and God said", or equivalent, is used more than 2,600 times. History, law, psalms and prophecies are declared to be written by men under the special inspiration of God. Christ himself sanctioned the Old Testament, quoted it, and lived in harmony with his teachings. He approved of its truthfulness and authority (Matt. 5:18; John 10:35; Luc. 18: 31-33; 24:25, 44; Matt. 23: 1, 2; 26:54). And so did the apostles. (Luke 3: 4; Rom. 3: 2; 2 Tim. 3:16; Heb. 1: 1; 2 Peter 1:21; 3: 2; Acts 1:16; 3:18; 1 Cor. 2: 9-16.) Does the New Testament claim a similar inspiration? As for the inspiration of the Gospels, it is guaranteed by the promise of Christ that the Spirit would bring to the apostles' minds all the things that he had taught them, and that the same Spirit would guide them in all truth.

Throughout the New Testament he declares himself to be a more complete and clear revelation of God than that given in the Old Testament, and with absolute authority declares the abrogation of the old laws. Therefore, if the Old Testament is inspired, the same inspiration must be the New. It seems that Peter seeks to place Paul's epistles on the same level as the books of the Old Testament, (2 Pet. 3: 15,16), and Paul and the other apostles claim to speak with divine authority, (1 Cor. 2:13; 14:31; 1Thess. 2:13; 4: 2; 2 Pet. 3: 2; 1 John 1: 5; Rev. 1: 1.)

2. They give the impression of being inspired.

The Scriptures say they are inspired; an examination of them will reveal the fact that their character supports this position. The Bible, when presenting itself in judgment, does so with a good testimony! As for its authors, it was written by men whose honesty and integrity cannot be doubted; as to its content, there is in it the most sublime revelation of God to the world; as for influence, it has brought saving light to nations and individuals, and has an unfailing power to guide men to God and to transform their character; as for its authority, it plays the role of a supreme court in religious matters, so that even false cults are required to quote their words in order to impress the public. They talk about specific things. Note:

1) Its accuracy. There is a total absence of absurdities that are found in other "sacred" books. we do not read, for example, that the earth came out of an egg, having passed a certain number of years for its incubation, resting it on a turtle; the land surrounded by seven seas of salt water, cane juice, alcoholic drinks, pure butter, curdled milk, etc. Dr. D. S. Clarke writes: "There is an unfathomable difference between the Bible and any other book. This difference is due to its origin."

2) Your unit. Containing sixty-six books, written by some forty different authors, over a period of about sixteen hundred years, covering a variety of topics, it nevertheless demonstrates a unity of theme and purpose that can only be explained as having a guideline.

3) How many books can you handle being read even twice? But the Bible can be read hundreds of times without being able to probe its depths or without losing the reader's interest.

4) Its amazing circulation, having already been translated into thousands of languages ​​and dialects, and read in all countries of the world.

5) Time does not affect it. it is one of the oldest books in the world and at the same time the most modern. The human soul can never dispense with it. Bread is one of the oldest foods, and at the same time the most modern.
