-to call your relationship unstable might even be a bit of a stretch. Probably no one has ever been more in need of a good auspitice and no one has ever been less likely to get it.

-Like I said, you don’t let him get away with shit. Not that Bronya’s a pushover, but ultimately he’s never had anyone who could really stop him from getting away with murder. A pretty face and quick mind will get you far. But with you its....different. You don’t fall for his lies, but....you don’t seem to hate him for them.

-Or rather, you still somehow want to spend time with him despite it?

-You strip past the layer of artifice, manage to see both the asshole who pretends to forget your name at parties and the dork who roleplays Soldier Purrbeasts (as the inimitable ShadowPaw) with Wanshi when he thinks the others won’t notice.

catherine has a lively, bubbly, and easy-going personality. in contrast to her intensity when pursuing a target, she is relatively easy to get along with, although sometimes she can be too carefree and reckless. she didn’t get to keep a lot of friends back home because of her work and having to keep her lifestyle under the radar, but now in isola she can afford to mingle with others. basically talk to her about sweets, fashion, and video games, and she will be happy.

catherine will push people to do what is best for themselves. basically, she is an enabler to allow oneself to be selfish sometimes. she has a disdain for how society keeps people in a locked box, especially women in particular. she hates rules and although she mostly does things for herself, she cannot stand to see someone who is unconfident or muting themselves simply to conform. she may resort to adopting people if she believes they might be a hopeless case. she is the embodiment of free will and taking charge of oneself. this is a great option if your muse is a little on the shy side and you want someone to help them find their voice.

catherine is, above anything else, a pure heartbreaker. at the moment her powers are limited, so she can’t exactly invade anyone’s nightmares or drain their sexual life force, but that doesn’t change the fact that she simply likes playing with her toys. she juggles people constantly, not just for work but also for fun, and once she gets bored of her plaything, she quickly kicks them to the curb and looks for a new one. she is brutal. if you’re looking for someone for a no-strings-attached relationship, a couple of dates before she ultimately ghosts you, or someone to completely shred your heart to pieces, she is elated to provide that.

catherine absolutely hates anyone who tries to restrict or restrain her. She cannot stand being caged up, and she has a natural penchant to break the rules simply out of spite. She also loathes anyone who just happens to be in the way of what she wants; these sorts of people are simply collateral damage to her. she also has a natural aversion to religion and religious folk, especially of the catholic or christian variety, simply because of her species as a succubus. angels are her natural enemy, so she tends to either antagonize them or simply stay away. finally, anyone who cheats on her or treats her as less than anyone else is on her shit list, as she is a naturally jealous person. it is very easy to get on her bad side, so if you’re looking for an enemy, here she is.

good luck with that. catherine is all about playtime and none of the solid commitment. it takes a lot for her to really like someone, and it is possible, as seen with her previous relationship with vincent. when she does let her heart latch onto someone, she is hesitant because she wants to remain footloose and fancy free, but she also becomes extremely clingy and possessive at times. she is pansexual and will date anyone. if you want to even attempt this roller coaster, you’re in for a freakishly hell of a ride. you might not get off alive.

(the saddest thing just happened, i typed up a long response then tumblr ate it. take 2:)

your critique of the third season is completely accurate--many episodes are perfectly skippable and could have been cut, and even non-skippable ones could have too.

i really dislike the way, for example, aang’s firebending and zuko’s arc was handled. the latter happens completely off-screen; we never even see the incident that caused him to finally turn in real-time. like even if everyone thought the avatar was dead the first half of s3 should have been packed with tension.

zuko knows about the day of black sun approaching and if the avatar isn’t dead, he’ll certainly show up by then (of course, this throws a wrench into the whole “oh he just decided to turn good!”). his situation *should be* extremely precarious and we should see his relationship with his father (and sister), but we don’t. zuko hires an assassin but then spends the rest of his time... uhhh... sitting on his ass and having fun.

the gaang should be extra-vigilant about not being tracked and the fact the assassin is after them should raise alarm bells about their plan to invade the fire nation, for example. i think a small reset and doing a few mostly-standalone episodes at the beginning of the season (like 1-3) to set the setting (before, for example, the gaang does something that alerts the FN to them) would have been fine as an introduction, but the writers overindulged and went way overboard.

anyways, re: the painted lady. i think your criticisms are accurate but i also look more kindly upon it than the footloose episode or nightmares and daydreams, for example. i think on a conceptual level the episode is much stronger than many others in the season: the village is suffering because of the fire nation’s military-industrial complex (the military factory... also pretty relevant if you, for example, are american!). it has to do with the war (obviously) *and* hits on themes already present in the show (the war’s deleterious effects on nature, even spirits being angry about it like hei bei.)

if it were written differently (ie improve the writing/conflict in general, have something small that ties it to other episodes, like have katara’s do-gooding spread rumors that there’s a waterbender in the FN which police or combustion man would then track, etc), it would have been a fine episode. “i would have liked this episode if it had the same concept but was written significantly different” is not high praise, of course, but it would have worked with a few tweaks as a second episode to the season.

i must disclose that i *really hate* the footloose episode and have since it first premiered in 2008: my reaction was “what the hell is this crap?”. seeing katara and sokka roleplay as traditional school parents, when they hate the fire nation by that point (”little fire monsters”) and were practically orphaned by the it is really, really jarring imo. i think an episode like PL being placed first (or replacing footloose entirely) where it was clear that some FN citizens suffer from the war too would have been far more appropriate re: the “little fire monsters” theme of that episode too.

Alright if we’re doing Avatar hot takes I’ll throw mine out.

The Painted Lady is worse than The Great Divide. And Book 3’s pacing as a whole was pretty shit beyond a few outlying episodes. The Book 1 ‘go around random towns’ formula just doesn’t work going off of Book 2.

it's funny you say that because i don't think the great divide is really as bad as people make it out to be, though i have no special inimical feelings towards the painted lady either. they're like... both okay at best if you take them as standalones. i'm interested as to why painted lady ranks so low to you!

painted lady definitely feels worse in the context of the plot though; the great divide at least fits in with the story, painted lady... does not, and i 100% agree with you that it's also part of a wider issue with book 3.

you have said in a few sentences what i spent a whole meandering post getting to in the past: book 3's episodic style simply doesn't work after book 2. the story grinds to a halt with a bunch of eh episodes then realizes, "oh crap we told nick we'd only have three seasons but we need a showy finale time to suddenly reveal the fire lord's gonna burn down the whole world in a day lol."

What kind of roleplay would you like to see in the community? What kind of plots would you like to see more of? Would you like to see more bio rps? More skeleton rps? Maybe even more appless rps? I'm just curious as to what people would like to see more of in the community. I see the same type of rps over and over, but I don't know if those are what people want, you know?

&. -- hi dear !! a roleplay that i don’t think is there yet is a roleplay focused on musical characters ?? like there are roleplays on disney characters, but with musical roles ?? let galileo and scaramouche from we will rock you come to live, or eliza doolittle and professor higgins from my fair lady. you can even add in peter pan roles, or the lion king roles ?? wicked, footloose, grease, mamma mia, cats, les miserables, chicago... there are S O many possibilities there ?? make it subplot, or semi-appless, or entirely appless... but it’d just be such a nice change ?? if there’d ever be a roleplay like this out there, i’d join the hell out of it. and if it won’t come, then i’ll make one myself in time. i love skeleton roleplays and i know more and more people -- or at least so it used to be a while back -- were looking out for bio roleplays again ?? however, albeit the fact that they tend to die pretty quick these days which still is such a struggle we need to get past, appless roleplays stay popular you know ?? i myself just don’t have the time and motivation right now to engage in any other roleplay than appless roleplays... so yeah. subplot or pairs roleplays are always pretty neat as well, if you ask me, i wouldn’t mind seeing more of those. just not soulmate roleplays, there are quite a lot of those already... i hope this helped, dear !! xoxo
