Diabetes and Foot Problems: Prevention, Care, and Solutions with Dr. Durai
Your body is your home, so guess who enters as an unwelcomed guest? Diabetes! Living with diabetes demands a lot. Starting with lifestyle changes, medication, diet, restrictions, etc. It also includes watching every part of the body, including the feet. But what is the connection between diabetes and foot problems? Letâs explore how these problems start, why they are linked to diabetes, and how to keep them under control.
A surprising fact for starters:
Did you know that diabetes and your feet have a surprising relationship? Constantly increased blood sugar levels in your body can harm the blood vessels and nerves. This starts from your feet along with your hands and parts of your legs. This is an indication of diabetic neuropathy. This issue may affect your foot's sensation and make it more difficult to identify calluses, corns, or wounds in your feet. Diabetes affects blood circulation, which can slow the healing of wounds, even minor ones, increasing the risk of spreading infection.
Your feet are more prone to problems like dry skin, corns, calluses, and even ulcers. Therefore, anyone managing diabetes needs to understand this connection. You can protect your feet and prevent issues that may impact your mobility and general health with the correct care and attention by visiting a diabetes consultant. Let's talk about how to maintain happy, healthy feet!
Common Foot Issues with Diabetes:
Diabetes and foot issues are unavoidable after a particular point in time. Diabetes often brings along some unwanted guests like calluses, corns, cracked heels, dry skin, and foot burning problems while staying in your body. These problems may appear harmless at first, but they can worsen if they are not handled properly. Here is a list of the most common diabetes foot problems you must be aware of:
Calluses: The Silent Build-Up
Thickened areas in the skin are called calluses. They mainly develop due to constant pressure or friction in their skin. Calluses are more than just a skin issue for diabetics. These toughened areas may become thicker and more challenging due to high blood sugar levels reducing the skin's natural healing capacity. Untreated calluses have the potential to develop into ulcers or crack over time, causing more serious issues.
How to Manage Calluses:
Gently clean them with a pumice stone after a bath.
Keep the feet moisturized to prevent further hardening.
Wear well-fitted shoes to reduce the friction.
When is the Right Time to See a Doctor?
Check with a specialist if you notice the signs of calluses and if the callused areas start to hurt or show symptoms of infection. The symptoms may be redness around the area or pus formation. After researching the best doctor for diabetes and other foot-related problems, Dr. Durai stands out. Since he has hands-on expertise in the field with 10+ years of experience, he can help you better. Try booking a consultation for an initial review.
Corns: Painful Little Bumps
Although smaller, more specific, and frequently painful, corns look similar to calluses. They typically develop on the toes or the bottom of the feet. They may be caused by improper footwear fitting, untreated wounds, walking for a long time, or even due to a high physical workout. For diabetic patients, corns can quickly worsen because reduced circulation slows down the healing process.
How to Manage Corns:
Avoid self-removal methods like cutting or shaving, as these can lead to infections.
Use cushioned pads or customized footwear to reduce pressure.
Get proper treatment.
When is the Right Time to See a Doctor?If corn becomes inflamed, thickened, causes redness, sharp pain, or is infected, itâs essential to seek professional care. For this, along with the treatment plans, Dr. Durai offers customized footwear solutions tailored to your foot condition, ready in just 30 minutes, providing the comfort, safety, and styleâan all-in-one solution you are looking for.
Cracked Heels: A Gateway to Infections
Cracked heels may start as a minor one you donât care about. After a certain age, it is common in everyone, but for diabetic patients, it can become a major issue. Heel cracking is more common when there is dry skin due to high blood sugar levels. The risk of infection is meters high by open cracks that let bacteria in.
How to Manage Cracked Heels:
Apply a double layer of foot cream or moisturizer to prevent your heels from further drying.
A foot soak is recommended in warm water before giving them a light scrub. This softens the texture of the skin.
Avoid walking barefoot to prevent further damage.
When is the Right Time to See a Doctor? If the symptoms, like redness or signs of infection, are high or the cracks are getting worse every day, you should be appropriately examined by a diabetologist doctor. Dr. Durai is an experienced doctor who handles diabetes and foot-related concerns. With a minimal treatment plan, he guarantees that even the most severe cases are managed appropriately. Book your consultations today to find your cure.
Dry Skin: More Than a Simple Discomfort
People with diabetes often get affected by another common issue of dry skin. This is typically caused by the same problem of neuropathy, or damage to the nerves, another indication of diabetes. Dry skin may not seem like a big deal in the early stages, but it can lead to infections, cracking, and itching while days pass by.
How to Manage Dry Skin:
Apply a mild moisturizer after a proper wash. Make sure the cream does not have any scent added.
Do not use hot water on your skin since it may remove the skin's natural oils.
Drink lots of water to stay hydrated.
When to See a Doctor: If dry skin doesnât cure or starts to crack, worsening the condition, itâs time to consult a diabetes doctor. Dr. Duraiâs complete approach to diabetic foot care deals with the root of the problem and provides lasting relief.
Burning Feet: The Warning Sign
Foot burning problems again indicate the problem of diabetic neuropathy. From short or occasional discomfort to unbearable sharp pain, this symptom starts and worsens at night.
How to Manage Burning Foot:
Control blood sugar levels to stop additional nerve damage.
For short-term relief, apply topical creams or pain relievers.
Raise your feet to increase blood flow.
When to See a Doctor: Never ignore the treatment for burning feet. Visit a diabetes doctor if the burning problem keeps you up all night or gives you sharp pain while walking. Dr. Durai's individualized care plans are provided to reduce symptoms and avoid further complications. Book a consultation to ease your problems.
The Role of Customized Footwear
The role of footwear in treating foot conditions plays a major role. The correct footwear can provide your foot with the right additional support and protection. On the other hand, poorly fitting footwear may worsen the issues such as calluses, corns, and cracked heels.
Dr. Durai provides individualized footwear solutions based on the particular requirements of each patient. Patients can leave in 30 minutes wearing footwear that is made to ease pressure points, improve comfort, and help in the healing process. 1000+ patients have benefited from this easy and efficient way to manage their foot issues better.
Taking Charge of Foot Health and Making the Right Choice
Diabetes management requires careful attention to foot health. Preventing complications can be significantly helped by regular checkups, proper footwear, and good hygiene. However, taking immediate action is essential when issues like calluses, corns, cracked heels, dry skin, or foot burning occur.
Dr. Durai is a reputable doctor for diabetic foot care because of his extensive knowledge, having treated over 40,000 patients with foot issues. His minimal-treatment strategy promises successful treatment with fewer medications and operations.

With proper understanding and the right diabetes doctor guidance like Dr. Durai, it is possible to keep your feet healthy and pain-free. And when professional care is needed, Dr. Durai and his team immediately offer complete solutions that make a real difference.

How to Take Care of Your Feet While Having Diabetes
People with diabetes must pay special attention to their foot health. High blood sugar levels over time can cause damage to nerves and blood vessels in the feet, leading to a condition known as diabetic foot. This can result in reduced sensation, poor circulation, and slow healing, making the feet more vulnerable to injuries, infections, and even ulcers. Without proper diabetic foot care, these issues can become serious, and in severe cases, amputation might be required. However, with the right precautions, most foot problems can be controlled and prevented.
What Happens to the Feet of a Person with Diabetes?
Diabetes can cause various foot issues due to poor blood circulation and nerve damage, a condition known as diabetic neuropathy. When the nerves in the feet are affected, people may lose sensation, making it hard to notice injuries, wounds, or infections. The lack of sensation means these problems can worsen without detection, leading to complications.
Possible Foot Issues Due to Diabetes
Nerve Damage (Neuropathy): Numbness or tingling in the feet, making it difficult to feel pain or temperature changes.
Poor Circulation: Reduced blood flow to the feet, which slows down the healing of wounds.
Foot Ulcers: Open sores that can develop due to minor cuts or blisters and may become infected.
Infections: Bacteria can enter through wounds, leading to infections that are harder to heal.
Deformities: Conditions like hammertoes or bunions can worsen due to poor foot health.
Can Foot Problems Be Controlled?
Yes, diabetic foot problems can be controlled with early detection and proper diabetes and foot care management. By taking simple steps to protect your feet, you can avoid severe complications. Regular diabetic foot care, attention to hygiene, and proper footwear can go a long way in preventing foot injuries and infections.
Is Amputation Required in All Cases?
No, amputation is not required in all cases of diabetic foot problems. Amputation is only necessary when an infection or ulcer becomes so severe that it threatens the health of the rest of the body. Early identification of the signs, proper treatment, and consistent diabetic foot care can prevent the need for such extreme measures. In many cases, professional care and attention to foot health can resolve issues before they become critical.
How to Take Care of Your Feet
Here are the essential steps for taking care of your feet when living with diabetes:
Every day, take some time to examine your feet for any cuts, wounds, colour change or indications of infection.
Wash your feet regularly and keep them dry, especially between the toes.
Moisturize your feet to prevent dry, cracked skin, but avoid applying lotion between the toes; it might develop fungus.
Trim toenails carefully, straight across, but remember not too short and do not forget to smooth the edges.
Always wear shoes and socks to protect your feet, even inside the house.
Ensure your shoes fit well to avoid rubbing or pressure points.
To lower your risk of injury, do not walk with barefoot.
Protect your feet from extreme temperatures (hot or cold).
Keep your blood sugar levels under control with a proper diet and medication.
Visit the best doctor for diabetes regularly for foot exams.

the dull throb resonating over your entire body is what eventually rouses you, slowly bringing you back into consciousness. your head feels like a swordâs been driven through it, leaving your mind muddled.
the first thing you see is satoru hunched over your bedside, his hand carefully clutching yours. you call his name, but your voice is hoarse and scratchy and barely above a whisper.
he hears you regardless, eyes wide and alert as he lifts his head. he looks tired, dark circles stamped under his eyes and an unusual stiffness in his movements.
âyouâreâŠokay,â he says, strained. as if he canât believe it. you hum in response - because itâs all you can manage at the moment - feeling your eyelids begin to droop your will. âget some more rest. iâll call shoko.âÂ
the gentle brush of his lips against your forehead is the last thing you feel before drifting back to sleep.
_____
youâre not sure how much time has passed when you come to. now, the room is illuminated by honeyed lamplight and you see shoko and satoru talking quietly at the foot of your bed.Â
âglad to see youâre still with us,â your best friend smiles once she notices youâre awake. she moves to your side, leaning over you to pull back the thin blanket. thereâs a swathe of bandages wrapped around your shoulder and a sling immobilizing your arm.Â
âhow do you feel?â satoru asks, that worried look still set in his expression.Â
âiâm fine,â you manage to answer, trying to blink the room into focus.
âyou need to be more careful,â shoko tells you, peeling her gloves off and tossing them into the trash. the usual air indifference in her voice is gone, replaced with concern. âtake satoru with you next time. not because i think youâre incapable of doing your job, but so he can do the corny, heroic thing and take the hit for you. god knows he could stand to be humbled every once in a whileâŠâÂ
âthanks, shoko,â your boyfriend scoffs, but the way his hand grips yours tightly tells you heâd be more than willing to be your corny hero.Â
you hate the way they look down at your prone form as shoko goes over your treatment plan. it makes you feel small and weak, and you are neither of those things.Â
âcan you help me sit up?â
âyou shouldnât be moving aroundââÂ
your body burns with protest as you awkwardly push yourself up anyway, exhaling a pained hiss as gojo swears, reaching out to help steady your trembling torso as shoko shoves pillows behind your back.Â
âiâm fine,â you argue, trying to ignore the throbbing behind your temples. you donât remember exactly how youâd ended up in the schoolâs infirmary, just remember the way pain had exploded across your left side when youâd been hit. Â
âyou almost werenât,â he says quietly. a deeply haunted look clouds his face as he recalls what must have happened after youâd been brought in, and you feel guilty for not being able to remember it.Â
so you let him squeeze into bed next to you, let him carefully pull you into his chest and hold you until you feel the tension in his body dissipate. you know he needs this a little more than you do, know that the knowledge of you being okay isnât enough. it wonât stop the fear and anxiety of losing you from gnawing on the edge of his sanity.
âi wanna give the flowersââ
âso you can take all the credit? iâm the one who bought them!â
your pained grimace easily turns to a smile when the door opens to reveal megumi and tsumiki, who are both gripping a bouquet of flowers. nanami follows them in, wearing the tired look of a man thatâs never spent more than three hours dealing with moody preteens raised by gojo â until today.
_____
your family spoils you over the next few days. the three of them falling asleep on the little couch in your room, tucked under gojoâs arms every night until youâre cleared to go home. even then, they donât leave your side. tsumiki snuggles next to you to watch movies and bakes you little treats. megumi reads to you from the book youâd been going through together and listens to your favourite records with you after school.Â
satoru posts himself by your side. you like having him around. like the gentle way he handles you when working through the stretches shoko prescribes. like watching the way his hands move he diligently slices wedges of fresh fruit.Â
you like being the focus of his single-minded attention, but you know how restless he can get when he doesnât go off to work. rightfully so, because the jujutsu world would probably fall apart without him.
âyou can go if you want,â you say one day, when he gets off a phone call with yaga. âiâll be okay for a few hours.âÂ
he doesnât get up, instead beginning to peel a plump orange (youâd never noticed how nice his hands were until now). âno, nanamiâs still covering for me.âÂ
âsatoru,â you sigh, taking an orange slice from him. âthereâs a lot going on, you have bigger fish to fry.â
âiâm not going anywhere,â he tells you firmly, looking like heâd physically fight the idea of leaving your side. âyouâre my fish.â

I didn't know we could request readers getting hurt. In that case can I request the hotels cast reaction to dogday reader getting the game dogday treatment as an exterminator cuts them in half. Like game dogday they're still alive but ouchy
TW: GORE AND BLOOD MENTIONS (not detailed but itâs there)
HAZBIN HOTEL X DOGDAY! READER
prompt: during the fight against the Angels, you let your guard down at the wrong momentâŠ..
You used your 8ft frame and to slap and crush the angels as Angel dust shoots the angel from your shoulder as husk throw explosive dice and sharp spade cards around you three. It was a good them effort as you had his stomped out an Angel with your huge paw. You were helping the hotel defend against the angels as you never saw this actually coming.
You heard a whimper seeing one of the egg boiz be chased by an angel as you ran over and crushed the angelâs head in your paw that had angelic metal in it. The egg boi immediately cuddled up to you as you picked it up.
You must have been so worried that you didnât noticed an angel behind you and the egg. But it was too late as the egg boiâs eyes widen seeing an exterminator behind the two of you.
You felt a stab in your abdomen as you looked down to see an angelic spear stab you. You felt blood trickle down your mouth as it burned inside of you.
A piercing scream rang out the battle field as you felt you lose the strength seeing blood pour out. Your friends perk up at that knowing scream of yours. Charlie looks down from the roof with her father to see what was going on. She gasped covering her mouth lookin at you. The angel takes the spear out of you as she slashes your body in half.
Your upper and lower body collided to the ground and blood spill from your mouth hearing foot steps and an evil laughter as you heard someoneâs voice. âDONT WORRY! WEâRE COMING SUNNY!â It was all muffled due to the blood loss as you couldnât hear who it even was.
Blood filled your nose, screams, the feeling of blood loss, and the sounds of bombs blowing up. It all rang in your ears as the last thing you see is the angel who cut you being shot. Before you passed out.
You wake up seeing the crew look down relieved but some had a disturbed face as you tried to move your âlegsââŠ..
Your legsâŠ.waitâŠ.
You look down to see your bottom half to be gone only to se a bandaged half. Your eyes widen shaking as the white pupils of your eyes disappear. You sob painfully looking down as your dog ears over your face. Charlie covers her mouth seeing your sadness at the lost of your legs as she hugs you .
Angel and husk joins as well as the other as they all crowed you trying to show that they are here for you. You felt loved, but what will you do nowâŠâŠ.
Months has passed and you are in a wheel chair. At the loss of your legs, itâs like you became a new person who doesnât smile much but still grant a smile towards a friend who needs one. You have the slight scent of vanilla but mixed with blood due to the blood in your body at times. Your voice also had changed as the scream you let out ruined your normal vocal cord. So now you sound a little depressed.
But still Charlie helps you to walk with you using your arms. You got the hang of it quickly but youâre use to the wheelchair since it doesnât take your energy away.
Angel helps you move around in your wheel chair as he makes joke with you as you smile or with either grumble jokingly at his dirty jokes.
Lucifer, heâs trying to find a way to heal you as he feels like he failed to protect you. One of his own people. Even his own friend that he felt like you were as you always was friendly to other and him.
Alastor lets you sleep in your wheel chair as he plays soft jazz in your room or if you want to listen to his radio broadcast
Husk still snuggles again you but not like a cat in your lap type snuggle. Nah he just lays down with you on the couch as you snore while he purrs.
Niffty decorated your wheel chair to your liking as she smiles seeing your grateful smile as she hugs your fluffy arm.

The sound of ice being scraped by the skates of the hockey players filled your ears, making you cringe at the unpleasant noise.
Crossing your arms, you watched as they skillfully passed the puck to each other, determined not to let the opposing team take control.
You hated hockey, and it wasn't just because of the sport itself. It was the type of men who played it - cocky, entitled, and overly aggressive. Every time you came to the rink after their practice, you would find the ice in terrible condition, thanks to the rough way they played.
The University of Tokyo was notorious for its hockey team, and not in a good way. The players were known for their douchey attitudes and their reputation as "fuck boys." As you watched them play, you couldn't help but notice their ridiculously attractive appearances. It was almost as if the only requirement to join the team was to be a 6-foot-tall, handsome guy. Despite their looks, you couldn't stand them.
You sat next to your friend in the cold arena, her eyes glued to the fast-paced hockey game unfolding in front of you. She munched on her popcorn, a smile spread on her face as she yelled your friend's name, "Go Yuji!!" You couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm, even though you weren't a fan of hockey yourself. Suddenly, she exclaimed and started choking on her popcorn, causing you to quickly pat her back and make sure she was okay.
As you looked back at the game, your eyes narrowed at one of the hockey boys who had stopped full speed and scraped the ice so badly it made you cringe. This was one of the reasons why you hated coming to these games - the roughness of the players and the damage they caused to the ice rink. The poor ice rink didn't deserve such treatment. Wondering what the ice rink did to deserve this.
You couldn't help but feel a sense of annoyance as the game went on, the constant yelling and cheering from the crowd only adding to the chaos.
The fans roared with excitement as one of the Hockey boys received the puck, deftly dribbling past the defender with ease. As he stopped momentarily, a wide smile spread across his face before he swiftly went left, skillfully dodging the goalie and scoring a goal for his team.
The crowd erupted into cheers as the score changed from 1-2 to 1-3, with Nobara screaming and spilling her popcorn in excitement. She saw Yuji skate towards her, a grin on his face. "Next one's for you, Kugisaki!" he shouted, before skating back to his original position.
As the team huddled up before getting off the ice rink, you couldn't help but feel bored. Hockey was never your cup of tea, despite your father being a huge fan and dragging you to countless games as a child. But as you watched the boys high-five and congratulate each other, you couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie and team spirit in the air.
The energy in the stadium was infectious, and even though you weren't a fan of the sport, you couldn't deny the sense of excitement and unity that filled the air. As the second half began, you settled back into your seat.
Nobara looked at you with a small smirk on her lips as you both sat in the stands, watching the hockey game below. The arena was buzzing with excitement as the home team took on their rivals.
Nobara noticed your gaze and nudged you, "So Y/N, what about that one?" She pointed towards a tall blonde man, his hair disheveled and stuck to his forehead from the sweat buildup on his helmet. As he lifted his jersey to wipe his forehead, the "puck bunnies" in the stands went wild at the sight of his chiseled abs.
You shrugged and replied, "No thanks, not looking right now." You grabbed your bag and took out your phone, snapping some pictures of the action on the ice.
Nobara pouted and scooched closer to you, placing a hand on your shoulder and shaking it. "Don't be like that, Y/N. You have to get over Toji soon." She was referring to your recent breakup with your long-term boyfriend, who happened to be a hockey player on this very team.
You sighed and leaned your head against Nobara's shoulder, taking in the energy of the game and the cheers from the crowd. Despite your best efforts, you couldn't help but feel a pang of longing for the excitement and passion that came with being in a relationship with someone like Toji.
You couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia as you watched Toji, the man who you used to love before he cheated on you with some random sorority chick, interact with his teammates. You remembered how much you used to admire his skills on the ice and how he always seemed to effortlessly lead his team to victory. But as you watched him now, you couldn't help but feel a sense of bitterness towards him. You were still hurt by the way he had treated you, but at the same time, you couldn't deny the fact that he had genuinely treated you well at some point.
As you continued to watch him, you couldn't help but wonder how things would have turned out if he hadn't cheated on you. Maybe you would still be together, cheering him on from the stands. But now, you were just another face in the crowd, trying to hide your emotions as you watched your ex move on with his life.
Kugisaki, your best friend, noticed your gaze and followed it to Toji. She let out a sigh, knowing all too well about your past with him. But she didn't say anything, just letting you take a moment to yourself.
Toji Zenin, a living legend in Utokyo. He was the captain of the hockey team before being demoted due to the fact that he was the reason why the ice rink was broken during your freshman year. He may have been just a year older than you, but he seemed so mature and confident on the ice. That was one of the reasons why you had fallen for him in the first place. But now, as you watched him interact with his teammates, you couldn't help but see him in a different light. He was just another guy, no longer the perfect image you had created in your mind. And although it hurt, you knew it was time to move on and let go of the past.
You remember the day you met him like it was yesterday, sneaking into the ice rink to practice late at night. You were startled when he caught you, but instead of getting angry or telling on you, he just teased you and then let you go. He was the man who showed you what love was, and you were grateful for his presence in your life.
He was the reason you continued your skating career, the one who motivated you to finish tryouts even when you wanted to give up. And now, as you looked at your calendar and saw the upcoming final, you couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. Just 20 more minutes until the game was over, and you could finally go home and take your mind off of everything. But for now, you couldn't tear your eyes away from the man who had once meant everything to you, and still held a special place in your heart.
You were supposed to be studying for your midterm in sports medicine, but here you are, stuck at a hockey game. The players were fiercely competing, their skates gliding across the ice as they chased after the puck. The sound of sticks hitting the ice echoed through the arena, and the cheers of the crowd filled the air. Suddenly, the referee blew his whistle and signaled a roughing penalty, causing the crowd to boo in disagreement. You couldn't help but feel annoyed at the interruption, wishing you were back at home studying instead.
But you knew you couldn't just get up and leave without your friend Nobara dragging you back in. Sighing, you resigned yourself to staying for the rest of the game, trying your best to enjoy it despite the looming thought of your midterm.
One of the players had gotten up from the ice and was now furiously cussing out the referee. His white hair stuck out in all directions, his angry words audible through the mic attached to his helmet. You knew instantly who it was - Satoru Gojo, the star of the hockey team and the most popular guy on campus. Girls flocked to him like "puck bunnies," as they called it in hockey slang. But to you, he was just the man you absolutely despised.
Growing up, you had always been in the same social circles because your parents were close friends. Your father and Satoru's both shared a love for hockey, so you were constantly in the same presence as him. And it seemed like he was good at everything he did - sports, academics, socializing. It was infuriating. As you watched him being escorted to the penalty box, a scowl immediately replaced the look on your face. Satoru Gojo was the last person you wanted to see.
The enemy hockey team slammed into the glass, right where you were sitting, causing it to shake. The sound of their bodies colliding with the glass was loud and jarring. Nobara, who was sitting next to you, looked both amused and thrilled by the intense action happening on the ice. One of the players fell to the ground, but he quickly got back up and flashed a smile at Nobara before returning to the game.
You couldn't help but notice her blushing and giggled at her reaction. "I'm definitely coming to their next game if this is my view," she said, fixing her hair and staring back at the player.
The game continued, the energy in the arena was palpable. The coaches and fans were yelling and cheering, urging the Utokyo team on as they made their way back to the goal. You could feel the intensity building as the clock ticked down to the final seconds. And then, with a swift and powerful shot, the Utokyo team scored another goal, solidifying their victory with a final score of 4-1.
The iconic music of the game began to play, the Utokyo hockey team skated onto the ice, their sharp blades slicing through the smooth surface with ease. Each player had a look of fierce determination on their face, and you could feel the excitement building in the air. As they reached the center of the rink, they gracefully removed their helmets, revealing their sweaty, yet glowing faces.
The girls in the audience erupted into screams and cheers, their excitement and admiration for the team palpable. You couldn't help but feel a surge of adrenaline as you watched the team prepare for the game ahead. Their strong and confident presence was enough to make you believe that they were the best hockey team in the world.
Grabbing your things, you followed Nobara to the front of the gymnasium where everyone was eagerly waiting for the hockey teams to come out. Tapping your foot impatiently, you scanned the crowded room, trying to find your ex among the sea of faces. "When is Yuji coming?" you asked, crossing your arms in frustration.
Nobara rolled her eyes before interlocking arms with you. "He's coming soon, now help me look for that hot hockey player we saw earlier," she said, a mischievous glint in her eyes. Just then, the Kyoto boys walked in, some of them looking dejected and others trying to hide their disappointment after being defeated.
But your attention was immediately drawn to the tall, handsome guy who walked in, laughing at some joke his friend had said. He had a confident stride and a charming smile that caught everyone's attention. Your eyes widened as you realized it was the same guy Nobara had been drooling over earlier. And it seemed like she wasn't the only one, as you saw several girls in the crowd blushing and giggling.
As he made his way towards the group of girls, your heart raced in anticipation. You could see Nobara practically melting as he locked eyes with her and walked up to her. They both looked nervous, fidgeting with whatever they could find in their hands. But before you could even process what was happening, he left with her number and an invitation to one of the parties she was throwing later that weekend.
You were tired and hungry, and all you wanted to do was go home and rest. But you knew how much Yuji loved playing hockey and how important it was to him, so you waited patiently.
Finally, after what felt like hours, Yuji emerged from the locker room with a huge grin on his face. His hair was a mess and he was drenched in sweat, but he looked incredibly happy. He immediately ran over to you and gave you a tight hug, causing you to wrinkle your nose at his sweaty smell.
"You reek of sweat," you said, playfully pushing him away before he could hug your friend Nobara.
"Nice to see you too, Y/N," Yuji replied with a chuckle, his light brown eyes sparkling with mischief. You couldn't help but smile at him. He was like a little brother to you, and you were proud of him for pursuing his passion for hockey.
Ruffling his hair, you couldn't help but praise him for his performance on the ice. "I saw your shot, good job," you said, a genuine smile on your face. Yuji beamed with pride, and you knew that your words meant a lot to him. Despite the fatigue and hunger you were feeling, seeing Yuji's happiness made it all worth it.
His eyes glistened with excitement and his cheeks flushed with a rosy tint as he listened to you compliment him. You couldn't help but giggle at his reaction, finding it endearing and cute. But before you could say anything else, your attention was caught by a certain someone sprinting towards you, looking like he was silently cursing to himself. It was your neighbor , and he seemed to be in a rush.
He came close to you and let out a sigh of relief as he reached you. "I'm stealing her real quick," he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
You raised an eyebrow in confusion, but before you could question him, he grabbed your body and pulled you close. Leaning his arm against your body, he whispered into your ear, his hot breath sending shivers down your spine. "Just go along with it, okay?" he said, propping back up with a smirk on his face.
You turned to look at the white-haired male, opening your mouth to say something before being interrupted by the sound of his mother's voice. She let out a loud squeal once she saw the two of you, quickly hitting her husband's arm before coming close to you with a warm smile on her face. "I always knew you two would end up together," she exclaimed, causing you to blush and your friend to avoid your gaze because he knew you would be furious with him for this stunt.
"Y/N, I'm so glad! I've always wanted another girl in my family, besides my baby girl now," she said with a bright smile as her husband propped up Satoru's baby sister. You couldn't help but smile at the adorable sight of the 4-year-old girl with her white hair tied into two small ponytails and her face covered in chocolate.
"I'm glad to be a part of the family," you replied, placing your hand on the back of Satoru before pinching his back, making him wince. "I'm going to invite your family to dinner tomorrow! We haven't had a get-together in years... We definitely have a reason to have one now." She covered her mouth before giggling, and you couldn't help but feel a slight sense of dread at the mention of your family coming over for dinner.
Excusing herself, his mom walked away with her husband and child, leaving you and Satoru alone. You could feel the anger radiating off of you as you stared at him, if looks could kill, Satoru would have been dead long ago.
"You told your parents we were together...?" you asked, your voice dripping with disbelief and rage. Satoru's face fell, knowing he had made a grave mistake. He tried to explain himself, but you cut him off with a smack to the head.
"You're kidding me, right?" you scoffed, crossing your arms and raising an eyebrow at him. He looked like a child being scolded by his parents, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction at that.
"Uh, about that," Satoru started, a sheepish smile on his face as he scratched his head. Before he could say anything else, you stormed away, pushing open the gymnasium doors and striding towards the parking lot.
This is dangerous. So fucking dangerous, playing this game with you. You know that getting involved with someone like Satoru is a recipe for disaster. He's charming and confident, but you've seen the way he treats women. He'll use them for his own amusement and then discard them without a second thought.
âWhat if I pay you to date me?â He asks with a mischievous glint in his eye, watching as you stomp towards the parking lot, completely ignoring his request.
âNo,â you say firmly, not even turning to look at him.
âBut I got plenty,â he says, following close behind you.
âDon't care,â you reply, your tone laced with annoyance.
âAll right, so itâs obvious youâre not interested in money,â he muses, as if you haven't spoken. âHas to be something else then.â He pauses for a moment, deep in thought. âBooze? Weed?â he suggests, trying to find something that might interest you.
âNo, and no, and get lost,â you say, your voice dripping with sarcasm.
He continues to follow you as you walk towards your car, his footsteps matching yours on the sidewalk. âOkay then. I guess youâre not into party favors,â he teases, a hint of a smirk on his lips.
"How about a date?" he offers, leaning against the doorway of your car.
You roll your eyes, trying to ignore the smug look on his face. "Why would I want to go out with you, the most arrogant and obnoxious guy on campus?"
"Because I'm charming, handsome, and irresistible," he grins, winking at you.
You scoff, not buying his ridiculous act. "Yeah, keep dreaming, Mr. Hotshot Hockey Player."
He laughs, clearly enjoying your banter. "Come on, just one date. I promise to behave."
You shake your head, crossing your arms over your chest. "No way. I have better things to do with my time."
"Like what? Study?" he teases, raising an eyebrow.
"At least I have priorities," you retort, trying to hide the hint of a smile on your face.
"Fine, be that way. But just know, everyone wants to go out with me," he says cockily, flashing you a dazzling smile.
You can't help but laugh at his confidence. "Just out of curiosity, after you wake up in the morning, do you admire yourself in the mirror for one hour or more?â
"Two," he replies without hesitation, causing you to burst out laughing.
"Do you high five yourself and talk yourself up?" you ask, unable to resist teasing him further.
"Of course not," he smirks. "I kiss each of my biceps and then point to the mirror and thank my old man for creating such a perfect male specimen."
You shake your head, trying not to smile at his ridiculousness. "No thanks, I'll pass on that date.
"Three months." He mutters, his voice confident and determined.
"Three months and if I don't convince my parents or get Naomi back, I promise I won't ever bother you or contact you ever again." He sticks out his chest confidently, smirking at you as if he knows he's already won.
"Three months?" you ask incredulously, your voice laced with disbelief. "Seriously? Three months is too much," you say, pursing your lips before letting out a heavy sigh. Three months of pretending to be in a fake relationship with him just to make his ex jealous.
"You're my only option." He pleads, his eyes boring into yours.
"Incorrect." You scoff, crossing your arms over your chest. "There are plenty of other women out there who would be more than willing to help you make your ex jealous." You wanted to say no, to turn him down and drive away.
"You're right, but she hates you the most." He says, his voice barely above a whisper. You hated him so damn much, but you couldn't deny the fact that you were intrigued by him.
There was something about him that drew you in, that made you want to know more.
You couldn't believe it. You thought this kind of shit only happened in movies, in books, or in some ridiculous fan-fiction.
But no, this was reality and the touch of his hand squeezing yours made you realize just how utterly fucked you were. You tried to laugh it off, thinking he was just playing some sick joke the hockey guys told him to do. But when you saw the serious look on his face, you knew he wasn't joking. He didn't even have a glint of mischief in his eyes, just pure determination. Your heart raced and your palms started to sweat as he shook your hand, his strong grip making you feel like a limp noodle.
You could feel the pulse in your ears as he squeezed your hand. But as you stood there, feeling like a deer caught in headlights, all you could think was, "Fuck."

How do I treat foot fungus at home?
There are several ways to treat athlete's foot at home. Common home remedies for athlete's foot include:
1.Keep your feet clean and dry. Wash your feet regularly with soap and water and dry them thoroughly, especially between your toes.
2.Apply an over-the-counter antifungal cream or ointment. These products are designed to kill the fungus that causes athlete's foot. Carefully follow the directions on the package and apply the cream or ointment to the affected area 1-2 times daily.
3.Use antifungal powder or spray. These products absorb moisture and prevent mold growth. Apply the powder or spray to your feet and shoes.
4.Soak your feet in a mixture of vinegar and water. Mix one part vinegar to two parts lukewarm water and soak your feet in the solution for 15-20 minutes.
5.Uses tea tree oil. Apply a few drops of tea tree oil directly to the affected area or mix with a carrier oil such as coconut oil before applying.
6.Wear breathable shoes and socks. Choose shoes and socks made of breathable materials like cotton and avoid tight shoes that can trap moisture.
If athlete's foot does not improve with home remedies, or if you have any concerns, it is always advisable to see a doctor for advice and treatment.

Fancy
Ch 2: Just Be Nice to the Gentlemen, Fancy
Previous | Next | Ao3
NSFW | MDNI
Vampire! Poly 141 x Fem! Plus Size! Reader
Word Count: 7k
Summary: A permanent darkness rests over the city. Youâve lived here your whole life - in the slums, just another human to be pushed and pulled at the whims of the vampires that run it. Another human made to bleed and crawl their way through a meager life.
Maybe, just maybe, a meeting by happenstance will change your fate for the better.
A/N: Yâall are getting updates to two fics in a row bc my Wellbutrin has well and truly kicked in. Say thank you to big pharma or whatever
A week passes. You tucked that wad of cash into your special hiding spot behind the vent above your bed. It still feels like itâs burning a hole through you. You made lists of things everything you could possibly spend it on, how much each item costs individually, how much it might help if you save it. In the end, you decided - rather impulsively - to get all new water filters for your entire apartment. The shower head and both sinks. It eats away most of the cash but youâve never felt so clean - never realized the amount of sludge sticking to your skin until it wasnât anymore.
The four men havenât come back, at least to your knowledge. Most likely theyâre done with you after that single meeting. Theyâve gone back to Cherry and youâre back to working as a server - having meager tips shoved down the bust of your dress and too rough hands grabbing your inner thighs.
After the gentile treatment you received, though, you feel a bit disgusted. Reminded that they choose to be this way. That vampires arenât just like that, they arenât made like that, they choose to treat you - to treat humans - terribly. It makes your gut churn with anger in a way it hasnât since you were an over-achieving teen sneaking out to attend protests in the lower city square.
It is what it is. Life goes on.
The train lurches on your way to work, as usual. News and advertisements scroll along the screens lining the top of the cabin.
TWO DEAD: LOWER THIRD STREET - BOTH EXSANGUINATED
DISAPPEARANCES CONTINUE TO GROW IN NUMBER IN THE FRENCH QUARTER
ONCE AGAIN THE CITY COUNCIL OVERRULES SUIT FOR HUMAN REPRESENTATIVE CHAIR
UNIDENTIFIED SUBSTANCE FOUND IN JANE DOE
With grit teeth you tear your eyes away. People around you whisper, conspire about what might be going on. As if you all donât already know whatâs happening. As if there isnât a cancer in this city centuries old.
Nothing is new under the constant night.
Life goes on.
You sigh, quietly checking yourself in the mirror before locking up your things in the employee break room and punching in your time card. Before you can even step foot toward the main floor, a girl with pitch black hair begins charging toward you.
âYou!â Cherry stomps up to you, voice cracking with anger. Her platform boots raise her up above your level.
You nearly jump out of your skin, instinctively backing away and against the wall. âW-what -â
âYou stole my clients!â She shrieks.
âI- what?â
âCherry.â The owner warns, appearing behind her. A shadow looming over the two of you. A man ready to grab the scruffs of two warring kittens. A few other girls who just arrived for their shifts stare with wide, nervous eyes.
The last time there was a fight here a girl got her eye stabbed out.
âYou took them! Theyâre my best paying clients and you took them! What did you do, huh? You suck their cocks for free?â Her face is barely an inch from yours and a sharp acrylic nail pokes your chest so harshly youâre surprised it doesnât break skin.
Itâs your turn to fume - face hot and hands balling into fists. âHow dare you! I swear to god I-â
âLadies!â The owner booms, grabbing both your shoulders, effectively putting an end to this little spat before it can escalate further. âQuiet. Our guests will hear you. Cherry, go smoke a cig and cool the fuck off. Fancy, follow me.â
You feel a bit like a child on their way to the principles office as you follow the owner toward the bar, wringing your hands and glancing around wildly. Despite your irritation, fear creeps through every part of you. The other girls are staring - whispering to each other behind perfectly manicured hands.
âI - sir - I really didnât-â You stop when that same gold tray is shoved into your hands.
âI donât care what you did or didnât do.â He sighs loudly. âTheyâre requesting you.â
âBut I donât-â
âI. Donât. Care.â He points at you in much the same fashion as Cherry before him. âYour job is what our guests want you to do. So go do your jobâ
Your jaw clicks as you shut it. Cherry is glaring absolute fucking daggers at you from the back room, her sparking red dress nearly matching the shade of her face. You canât blame her. Youâre taking her clients, her paycheck, her survival. It makes you feel a bit monstrous, if youâre honest with yourself. There isnât any time to focus on that too much as youâre ushered to the private booths. Thereâs no reason for you to give this up, either. If they want you they want you, and itâs their fault for kicking her to the curb.
Itâs your survival too, at the end of the day.
It feels eerie to walk down this corridor again. To stand before that heavy curtain again. Your hands donât shake this time, though. Even with the added tension from your previous interaction they remain steady.
Theyâre seated the same as before. Simonâs mask is different - a regular balaclava as opposed to the skull. You realize that his eyebrows and lashes are blonde - so strangely soft for such a harsh looking man. Theyâre all dressed far more casually, it seems. All the way down to Johnnyâs sneakers that probably cost more than your entire wardrobe based on the brand. John has traded his suit coat for a simple one with sherpa lining. Kyle braided his hair since last time.
âEveninâ, Fancy.â John smiles warmly. The way it makes your heart flutter is utterly shameful.
âHello.â You smile, tilting your head and setting down the tray. Same as before. Rinse and repeat. They ordered liquor this time - bourbon, you think. Maybe scotch. Same difference. âYouâve gotten me into trouble.â
âHave we, now?â John drapes an arm over the back of the booth.
âCherry isnât exactly happy.â You fake pout as you hand out the glasses. âThinks I did something salacious to steal you away.â
âHow do you know you didnât?â John gives you a once over. Blue eyes dragging down every curve and angle of your body.
âI suppose I donât.â You sigh. âNothing in my right mind, though.â
âSorry about that, love. Itâs for your own good.â
âRight.â The only thing more powerful than plausible deniability is actual deniability. âCan I get you anything else?â
âCan get yer pretty little arse over here.â Johnny grabs you by the waist, setting you down in his lap. You gasp at the sudden motion, wrapping an arm around his broad shoulders for balance.
âI think âlittleâ is a bit of a misnomer, there, hun.â You snicker.
âAye, as it should be.â His hand wanders to pinch your hip.
âYouâre a dog, Mr. MacTavish.â
âOch, ye wound me, lass.â
You glance over at Simon briefly, eyes meeting his. He tilts his head forward. Those dark eyes hold no less intensity than before. They take you in like they want to eat you whole. He probably does.
John must signal him - a nod or a curl of finger - because youâre being passed into the center of the booth again and set right up at Johnâs side. Vampire covens are simple things. Strong hierarchies that are rarely challenged unless a leader falls or fails spectacularly.
Top dog gets the chew toy.
âI like the change of attire.â You smile, tugging at the soft sherpa of his coat.
âSuits not your style?â
âTheyâre nice⊠I see so many of them, though.â You lean into his side, letting your head fall back on his shoulder. âBesides, this fits you better, I think. Matches the beard.â
You let your hand venture up to trace along his jaw, reveling in the gentle scratch of his beard. Itâs pleasant. Well cared for. You briefly wonder what his budget for beard products is. He leans into the touch. Youâve always wondered how you to feel to them. Is it a gentle warmth or a scorching flame? Either way, they never seem to mind.
âYou boys planning on talking business tonight?â You tilt your head.
âAh, not tonight.â He chuckles, taking your hand and pressing a light kiss to the back of it. âTonight is purely about rest and relaxation. Need it after the week weâve had.â
Somehow the other three manage to melt into the background. You might not know much - if anything - about him, but John Price is the type of man to fill a room all on his own. You felt that the first time you saw him.
âI can certainly help with that.â You grin, letting your hand trail up his thigh. You move slowly, waiting to see how he reacts, and go to hook a leg across his lap to straddle him.
To your surprise, he just grabs your waist and sets you back into your seat. âDonât need to do all that, luv. Just talk with us.â
Part of you wants to laugh. Thereâs no way guys like this are the lonely, chatty type. But then, as you take in his face, you can see the exhaustion in his eyes. Vampires donât get bags under their eyes or stress lines, but it still shows. Still swirls in their irises so distinctly.
âWanted to pick your brain about somethinâ, actually.â John sighs, taking a slow sip from his drink.
You scoff. âMe?â
âYouâre a smart girl.â
âAm I?â You canât help but laugh. âWhat, you need help picking out some lingerie for your mistress?â
John rolls his eyes at you. Kyle chuckles behind him. Theyâre far more quiet than last time. At least, the little bit you remember form last time.
âOur company has had some recent⊠expansions.â John mulls his words over carefully, which sets of alarm bells in the back of your mind. âWe want to take the opportunity to do something for the lower city.â
âWhy?â You spit far too honestly - involuntarily dropping the facade of an escort. What are they doing to pull this out of you? Is it compulsion?
Just as John opens his mouth to answer you, a phone rings. Loud and piercing through the tension in the air. Simon sighs loudly and answers, speaking so low you arenât sure if heâs speaking at all. All eyes are trained on him. Except yours. You look around at the strain in their faces. The dread.
Simon grunts something before hanging up. âWeâve got a problem.â
âWhat kind of problem?â John demands.
âThe kind we canât leave tilâ tomorrow.â
Thereâs a collective groan throughout the room. Johnny looks like he wants to smash the closest thing he could find.
âFuckinâ hellâŠSorry, darling. Looks like weâll have to resume this another time.â John sighs loudly and takes your hand to help pull you from the booth. He pauses with you off to the side - glancing over his shoulder and nodding to the others as they pass through the curtain before turning back to you. âCan I trouble you for a kiss at least? To tide me over?â
âAlways.â Once again, the response is far too automatic for your liking. Then again, there are worse things than happily kissing a good looking man. Even if he is what he is.
John chuckles. Itâs low and rich and causes you to lean forward despite yourself. Sometimes you forget just how alluring theyâre built to be. Made to draw you in. An angler fish. John leans forward to meet you, still holding your hand in his. His lips are cool, a little rough but also gentle. Thereâs a hint of almost desperation in the way he pushes closer before who you can only assume is Simon clears his throat.
âPay for a full night plus tip - as an apology for leaving so suddenly. Take the rest of the night, dove.â John smiles down at you and presses another tied roll of cash into your palm. âDonât want my favorite girl having to scrape by for tips after we leave. Bad look, that.â
âT-thanksâŠâ You murmur, keeping your eyes locked on him. Almost afraid to look down at the amount in your hand. Thereâs a heft to it that you both appreciate and are terrified of.
John pats your hand and leans forward to place a rather chaste kiss on your cheek before disappearing out the curtain just like that first time.
Youâre not sure how much more unbridled tenderness you can handle.
~~~
Itâs not even a full week before theyâre back. This time, itâs just Kyle and Johnny who greet you on the other side of the curtain. That fact should relax you - not having to focus your attention on so many men should make it easier. Instead, it feels foreboding after the way they left last time. It makes your shoulders tense.
Why are you worried about John? A little voice in the back of your head questions. Why are you worried about a fucking vamp?
âHello.â You murmur, setting the usual tray on the table seemingly in slow motion. âJust the two of you today?â
âDonât sound so disappointed.â Kyle grins. âWeâre more than enough company.â
âThatâs what Iâm afraid of.â You hum, passing out their drinks and sliding into the curved booth to get between them.
âNothing to cure a shit week like blowinâ off a little steam with a pretty woman.â Kyle tucks a strand of hair behind your ear, his other hand coming to rest on your thigh. Dogs without their leashes.
You hum. âWork got you down? You had that âproblemâ last time.â
âOch, aye. Been a right bitch lately.â Johnny groans, tilting his head back and slinging an arm around your shoulders on the back of the booth. âAt least we got that one bit sorted.â
âIt was your own damn fault.â Kyle scoffs at him.
âOi. Maybe if you payed attention to who-â
Kyle grabs Johnnyâs lips, pinching them shut. âPrice said not in front of the girl.â
You glance between them. The last thing you need is to be sat in the middle of a vampire brawl. Goodbye mortal plane if so.
That seems to be enough to get Johnny to drop it, opting to throw back his drink in one fell swoop and scoot in closer to you, strong arm looping around your waist.
Kyleâs hands trace down over your shoulders. âYouâre a fuckinâ luxury, baby girl.â
âCan I have a kiss, hen?â Johnny leans close, fingers tracing your jaw.
Your lip quirks up. âCan you afford a kiss? Seeing as Iâm such a luxury, apparently.â
Itâs Kyle who moves next - pulling you fully into his lap and pushing you further into Johnny. âWe can afford much more than that, love.â
The tip of a fang grazes your neck. Itâs slow, gentile, not nearly enough to break the skin. Not quite a threat.
A promise.
Itâs barely a hair of movement. A slight tilt, a minute lean and your lips press against Johnnyâs. His lips are cold but softer than you expected. Your hands find his shoulders, his tongue darts across your lower lip and you part for him. A well memorized dance. Kyleâs hands drag up your hips to rest on your waist, holding you in place between them.
âDâyou have any idea how good you smell?â Kyle murmurs in your ear.
âOr taste.â Johnny sighs into your lips. You pull back, snickering and wiping your lipstick off his lips. He has the prettiest, dopiest smile youâve ever seen.
âCome home with us?â Kyle asks, lips grazing the shell of your ear. âWeâll take such good care of you.â
âYou just got here.â You murmur.
âAnâ now weâre askinâ if yeâd like tae come home with us.â Johnny grins.
You tilt your head back, debating on how to ask about pay. Itâs a question that needs to be asked, but a sensitive one at the same time. You donât want to offend, but you donât want to end up walking away from their home empty handed. Just as you go to open your mouth and subtly talk rates, youâre cut off.
âHowâs 5k sound, lovie?â Kyle murmurs. Are they fucking mind readers?
You pray they donât notice the way you choke briefly, body tensing for a fraction of a second. Holy shit. Holy fucking shit! Thatâs more than twice what you make in month.
âIâll take that bewildered stare as a yes.â He laughs, moving a hand from your waist to knead at your hip.
They call a car. You donât have to explain where youâre going to anyone - being pressed between them is enough. It used to be a little shameful for you to walk out on a manâs arm for the whole club to see. When you were young and not quite so resigned to the state of the world - when you hadnât quite realized that the only god you should care for is green and made of paper. These days you couldnât care less. They all know, and theyâre all taking part in the same debauchery (or jealous that they canât afford to.) Itâs all goods and services, at the end of the day.
Johnny wastes no time pulling you into his lap as soon as you climb into the car - a massive, black SUV that still smells brand new. At least the seats are soft on your knees as you hover over his lap.
âNo, no, full weight on me, bonnie.â He grabs your hips and pushes you to sit on his thighs. âThaâs it.â
His hand disappears under your skirt, two fingers tracing up your sex through the thin cloth of your underwear. Messily grinding while placing sloppy, open mouth kisses along your neck and shoulder. You gasp and whine as he presses against your clit. Just enough to tease, always moving away before you can properly grind down on him. Fucking tease. Kyle watches with an appreciative grin lazily spread across his face.
Your eyes widen to saucers as you pull up to the building. One of the biggest residential skyscrapers in the city. A glowing paragon. One of only five you can see at all times from any part of the city. Youâre pretty sure, if you could get to the top, that you would be able to point out your apartment. If you could see it through the smog, that is.
Kyle pins you to the wall of the elevator, lips intertwined with yours and a hand twisted in your hair. Yours knot into the material of his coat. He tastes like liquor and something you canât quite place. Something sweeter than candy and far more satisfying.
You glance over his shoulder at Johnny just as the man readjusts his pants. He grins, keeping his hand there to palm himself as soon as he catches your eye.
Cheeky bastard.
The elevator stops so gently you might have missed it if not for the dinging and the doors parting. Kyle pulls you out into a small foyer while Johnny fumbles for a keycard.
You think you might have a heart attack when they slip you through one of the two massive front doors. It has to take up the entire floor - or at least most of it. Thereâs a whole pool on the right side of the balcony. An area that looks like a greenhouse mirrors it to the left. Floor to ceiling windows allow you to see the faux stars so clearly up here.
âDo you all live here?â You ask quietly, staring around the massive penthouse.
The decor is simple. Dark, heavy woods and expensive, rich toned fabrics. It doesnât have that sterile air that so many vampire homes have. It looks lived in. Used. Even with the obviously untouched kitchen. To this day you donât understand why vampire homes have them at all. A formality, you suppose.
Johnny nods. âOch, aye, but John and Si are⊠workinâ.â
You decide itâs probably smartest not to pry into whatever âworkâ means. âSo, the mice will play while the cats are away?â
âSomethinâ like that.â Kyle nods, a little smirk playing across his face.
You glance away, debating on asking a possibly invasive question. You canât ever be too careful with the hierarchy of covens. âAnd John doesnât mind you⊠having me first?â
They blink at you for a moment before bursting out laughing. Your face heats. It makes you feel childish, as if you asked a stupid question. Itâs not a stupid question. Itâs perfectly valid! At least thats what youâve heard from other working girlsâŠ
âOh, no, doll. He doesnât care.â Kyle grins and hooks an arm around your shoulders.
âMight be a bit miffed he wasnae here tae join in on the fun but heâs not jealous like thaâ.â Johnny mimics him with an arm around your waist as they pull you to the side.
The two exchange a look briefly with grins plastered across their faces before turning you to the right and leading you down a short hallway. A large, wooden door opens into a bedroom that could swallow your apartment whole. The decor is a bit chaotic - clothes lay across the floor leading to the bathroom and two walls are covered from the floor to halfway up with drawings and paintings.
You know what youâre here for but you canât help wandering over to them and staring. Theyâre so intricate. Every detail rendered perfectly. Some are from the city, others are from far away places you arenât sure exist anymore. A few portraits of the boys here and there and some other people you donât know. A sketch of a man with scars littering his strong face catches your eye.
âWhose are these?â You ask in a hushed whisper, as if speaking too loudly will disrupt them.
âAh, mine.â Johnny saunters up behind you, hands resting on your broad hips.
âTheyâre beautifulâŠâ Youâve only seen art like this in the museums you visited in school.
âCould do one of ye. Yeâd make a bonnie portrait.â He murmurs, pressing his cheek to yours.
Your gut reaction is to say yes. Is that how you want to be remembered, though? Just another face only immortalized on some creatureâs wall. A nameless face from eras gone by. Would he write your name down? Would they remember you in a hundred years? In fifty years? In ten, even?
You settle on a gentle âMaybe.â
Johnny takes the hint, turning you toward the bed where Kyle is already leaned. âGonnae tear a hole in my damn pants if we donnae get a move on.â
The bed is huge, to say the least. Circular and outfitted with layers upon layers of soft pillows and probably the highest thread count sheets youâve ever seen. Itâs unmade, the comforter falling halfway off one side of it. Not that you need it for whatâs to come.
Johnny kneels behind you as soon as you step between Kyleâs legs where heâs sat on the bed. Deft hands unbuckle the straps of your heels. Little nips and kisses trail up your thighs. Kyle reaches around you and presses his lips to yours - so softly - before carefully pulling down the zipper of your dress.
Itâs so easy to let them take charge. To be a doll for them to do as they please. There are worse things in life than being delicately undressed by two handsome (and well paying) men. Their hands are far more gentle than you expected while they strip you, muttering little appreciative hums and compliments so low that you almost miss them. You stand bare before them, letting them take you in. Hands and eyes roaming. Johnny presses a sweet kiss to your cunt before standing, sending a little jolt up your spine.
He grins like he won some game you didnât even know you were playing.
You turn to carefully peel off Johnnyâs shirt. Your lip catches in your teeth as you run your hands over hard muscle and through a layer of thick, downy hair that leads to the waistband of his pants. So distracted by the sight before you that you donât notice Kyle pressing against your back, locking you between them as they kiss above you. A shiver runs through you as you watch their jaws flex and hands grapple for one another.
Fucking Christ.
Sometimes you forget how good it is to fuck people youâre actually attracted to. Even if they are paying customers the same as the rest.
An unceremonious squeak escapes you when youâre suddenly flung onto the bed. Not hard enough to hurt but enough to bounce until Johnny appears on top of you, fingers pinching at the soft fat on your sides and laving at your neck with a cool tongue. He keeps his teeth out of the way as he moves down your body to take your nipple between his lips. Much appreciated.
âNeed a taste, bonnie. Ye smell so good. So sweet.â Johnny whines, kneeling between your legs. You watch him lower himself slowly as Kyle slots in behind you, shirt long forgone and hands tracing up your sides to knead at your breasts.
As much as you want to pout at not getting to see Kyle undress, you canât focus on much other than Johnnyâs mouth diving into you. Your instinct is to close your legs at the sudden onslaught, but Johnnyâs hands keep them solidly in place - spread wide and hooked around his arms.
âFuck.â You gasp, head tilting back onto Kyleâs shoulder. Your hand wanders down, carding through Johnnyâs mo-hawk. He places a harsh suck to your clit and your fingers tighten around the hair at the base of his neck involuntarily pushing him further into you.
You expect him to be upset, for a brief moment, that youâve been too rough with him. Took too much charge. Instead he just keens desperately against you, picking up the pace - devouring you like a man starved.
âC-Christ, Johnny!â You gasp, fingers digging further into his scalp and the sheets.
âHe likes it when youâre mean tâhim.â Kyle murmurs in your ear. âGot him fuckinâ pussy drunk already.â
You roll your hips down onto his tongue as he flattens it against you, grinding his face into your pussy. He shifts, never breaking contact, and slips two thick fingers inside you. You whine, eyes screwed shut as you ride it out. Kyle grabs your chin, tilting you back into a kiss. All it takes is Johnny curling his fingers to send you toppling over the edge, back arching sharply.
Johnny rears back onto his haunches just as you peel your eyes back open, chin slick and shiny. His hands desperately pull at his belt and fly. âCannae take it anymore.â
Kyle chuckles, smiling down at you. âYouâd think after two centuries heâd learn a little patience.â
You smile back, quip dying in your throat as Johnny grinds his uncut cock between your folds - coating it in your slick. Fuck, heâs thick - punching every bit of air in your lungs as he pushes in.
âSo fuckinâ warm.â He moans, brow furrowed and lips parted.
Lord help you, heâs beautiful. Even beyond that statuesque perfection all vampires have, he must have been gorgeous in life. Kyle is too, you realize as you tilt your head back to kiss him. You wonder what they would look like with ruddy cheeks - with faces warm as yours is. If Johnny would blush all the way down to his chest. If they tanned. Burnt. Freckled. Ran warm or cold. All the little differences that come with a beating heart.
All thoughts disappear at once as Johnny rolls his hips into you. You gasp, âPlease.â
Thatâs all he needs, apparently, setting a brutal pace off the bat. Pushing you back into Kyle with every thrust with enough force that your teeth nearly knock together. Kyleâs fingers continue to pluck at your nipples. You can feel his still clothed cock pressing against your back, hips twitching at the brief friction.
âFuck. Alright.â Kyle grunts, moving from behind you - leaving you flopping back on the bed with your hands fisting the sheets. You can hear his belt coming undone but canât bring yourself to focus on it with Johnny relentlessly pumping into you. That is until Kyle taps the head of his cock against your lips, kneeling beside you.
Heâs pretty. Not as thick as Johnny but perfectly proportioned. He doesnât even have to ask or press forward, you want it between your lips. Seek it out. Itâs cool on your tongue, calming under the relentlessness that is Johnny.
âBeen tae long since we had somethinâ so nice anâ soft in our bed.â Johnny whines. As if that fact genuinely pains him.
Kyle hums in agreement, taking his time fucking into your mouth. âThat it has.â
He reaches over to grab Johnny by the back of the neck, pulling him until their lips crash together. Johnnyâs hands tighten where they hold you and Kyleâs pace picks up.
âFuck, she likes thaâ.â Johnny pulls back just enough to speak. âClenchinâ down on me.â
All you can manage is a whine in response - body on fire. Every nerve feels like itâs pulsing, the whole of you utterly consumed by them. Johnny lifts your hips off the bed, arching your back so that he can fuck up into you. The new angle leaves you desperately moaning. Practically singing around Kyleâs cock as your climax hits you like a train. Rocking through you and tensing every muscle.
âThassit, love, doinâ so good fâus.â Kyle cards his fingers through your hair. Itâs strangely gentle, considering the way his cock now bullies the back of your throat while Johnnyâs ruts against your g-spot. âHowâs she feel, Johnny?â
The man in question just babbles incoherently, fingers digging into your wide hips enough that theyâll surely bruise. At least heâs aware enough not to crush you entirely. Kyle chuckles at him, the sound cutting off in a moan as you angle to take him deeper and wrap your hand around the length you canât take.
âG-gonnae cum.â Johnny stutters, rhythm faltering and becoming more shallow as he approaches the edge. He pulls out with a choked groan, fucking his fist as he spills onto your thigh.
Kyle mercifully pulls away, letting you gasp for air. Your voice will be raw tomorrow, but fuck if it isnât worth it when youâre getting fucked like that.
Johnny sighs, collapsing on his back. âGiâ me a minuteâŠâ
âGettinâ old, Johnny?â Kyle quips.
âFeck off.â He grunts, turning to look at you as you catch your breath. You canât quite interpret the look in his eyes - whatever it may be - before Kyle is lifting you up at the waist.
âCâmere, love.â Kyle pulls you, sitting back on his haunches and turning your back to him. Your legs tremble uselessly, but he doesnât seem to mind as he moves you into place. He doesnât waste time sitting you on his cock. Kyle isnât as rough as Johnny, taking his time with lifting off and dropping you onto his cock. A slow motion of your hips while his hands squeeze the soft layer over your waist.
âFuck, KyleâŠâ You sigh, head lolling against his shoulder.
âYâlike that, baby?â He murmurs, kissing up your shoulder and neck. One hand moves from your waist to travel up the valley of your breasts. It doesnât quite wrap around your throat, just rests at the base of it - index finger hooking into your necklace.
Itâs a leisurely roll of your hips against each other. A break from the brutal pace before. Heâs not desperate like Johnny - instead taking his time whispering sweet nothings and dirty words into your ear. Movements slow and easy.
You think, for a moment, that this is the closest youâve ever been to âmaking love.â
Then again, maybe youâre just cock drunk.
You donât notice Johnny getting up until heâs in front of you, hands on your thighs and lips crashing against yours. Already hard and leaking again after only a handful of minutes. Even for a vampire, thatâs pretty damn impressive.
âBonnie, please.â He moans into your mouth. Cool hands take yours and wrap them around his cock, setting a rhythm to match Kyleâs thrusts into you. âYer fuckinâ perfect.â
Itâs overwhelming. Kyleâs hands roam over your body as you bounce on his cock, draping himself over your back and nipping at your ear. Johnnyâs tongue continues to explore every part of your mouth as he thrusts desperately into your hands. His fingers slip down to your clit, moving in leisurely circles that have you bucking forward into him.
âGonna cum fâme, pretty girl?â Kyle groans into your ear. âChokinâ my fuckinâ, cock.â
You whine against Johnnyâs lips, eyes screwed shut. Heâs close again, pace quickening. His fingers roughly grind against your over sensitive clit. Someone is chanting, begging, and it takes longer than it should to realize itâs you. âPlease, please, just - fuck - I canât - fucking Christ-â
âThassit, thassit, fuckinâ hell look at yâtwo.â Kyle pants, bottoming out with every thrust.
You cum with a choked cry, falling forward against Johnny as he coats your hands and moans. Kyle isnât far behind, painting your back with a pretty, low groan and a jumble of praises for you and Johnny alike.
Your body feels like jelly, limbs trembling and weight leaned entirely against Johnny. He coos at you and soothes down your hair. A strong arm wraps around your shoulders to steady you. Kyle comes back with a warm rag - when he left, youâre not sure - gently wiping you down with a an unfamiliar level of care.
âI can do it.â You reach for the cloth.
âNo, no, love.â He says gently, taking your hands and carefully cleaning them off with precision. He stops to rub the back of your hand with his thumb, something unreadable and warm behind his eyes.
âDrink this.â Johnny holds out a glass to you. When did he even get that?
âTap water?â You frown slightly, looking him up and down.
âWhatâs wrong with tap?â He snorts. Oh. Right. Upper city.
âThanks.â You murmur, chugging it greedily. The physical exhaustion begins to creep up your bones, your legs already practically useless. Keeping up with vampires is a young manâs game and youâre just starting to see the signs of aging out. âI better g-â
âBetter lay down.â Kyle cuts you off, taking the glass and pushing your shoulders to lay flat on the bed.
You chew your lip. You donât usually stay at clientâs homes overnight. Then again⊠the sheets seem to envelope you in a cool cocoon. Calming on your too-hot skin and tired muscles. Muscles that do not want to walk all the way to the train depot. Besides, Johnny and Kyle have been so nice. If they want you to spend then night then whatâs the harm, right? Youâll just sneak out in the morning.
So, you let them crawl into the bed bracketing you on either side. Johnnyâs arm slings over your waist, cool breath puffing against the back of your neck. Kyle lays in front of you, placing small kisses across your face before pulling the comforter over the three of you.
There are worse fates than sleeping with two handsome men on high thread count sheets for a nightâŠ
You wake shivering violently. Between the cold air and Johnny and Kyleâs cool skin you feel like an icicle. Your throat burns and you croak out a groan as you try to sit up. Kyle was rougher than youâd realized in the moment. Johnny has your back pinned against his chest with a strong arm thrown around your waist, not even breathing. Itâs so easy to forget that they donât have to. Kyle truly looks like a statue like this. Entirely still, solid as marble and just as perfect.
You sigh, quietly and carefully wiggling your way off the bed. You donât pay attention to whose clothes you grab - some tshirt thatâs more fitted than youâd like but covers enough to get the job done. You hiss at the slight creak of the door. Neither Johnny nor Kyle stir. If they woke up, they donât react to you padding out to the main house.
That first door across the hall is slightly ajar, a low stream of cool toned light pooling in the floor just below it. Against your better judgement, you stop, looking around before peeking inside. Not that you can make out much other than a large bed with a dark canopy pulled closed around it. The rest of the room looks barren - the only source of light coming from what you assume to be an attached bathroom.
âLookinâ fâsomethinâ?â A baritone voice grunts behind you. You squeak quietly, whirling on your heel and coming face to face with Simon. Well, face to chest considering his sheer height.
âSorry!â You croak, voice still hoarse. âI didnât mean- I-â
âSâfine.â The corners of his eyes crinkle in amusement. You hope itâs amusement, at least. âNeed somethinâ?â
âJ-just getting some water.. sorry to bother you-â You begin backing away, giving him a wide birth as you step toward the kitchen. Even without inhuman strength you fully believe this man could snap you in two.
âCome on, then.â He nods toward the kitchen, stepping in front of you. You nearly protest, but opt to just follow. He already caught you snooping at best - at worst he thinks you were planning to steal. If letting him accompany you keeps you alive and out of trouble with them then youâll gladly trail behind this behemoth of a man.
You pause by the kitchen island as Simon goes to grab⊠a mug? You watch him fill an electric kettle and flick it on, digging through the cabinet to produce a small packet. A tea bag labeled Honey Vanilla Chamomile.
âY-you donât have to-â
âHowâd our boys treat you?â Simon asks as he opens the little packet with deft fingers - oddly precise for the size of them.
âGood.â You blurt, hands wringing as you shift your weight side to side.
âJohnny behave himself?â
âThe picture of civility.â You snort. If leaving bruises on your hips from fucking you six ways to Sunday counts as civil.
Simon chuckles but doesnât say anything else. Just puts together a little mug of tea for you, stirring and steeping perfectly before pushing the thing across the counter. You take it slowly, eyeing him. Waiting for some sort of tell that you shouldnât drink this. Then another shiver runs down your spine and you grab the warm cup happily.
âShould get a heating system put inâŠâ Simon grumbles under his breath, looking around the apartment. You wonder just how much more he can see than you in the near pitch black environment.
âWhy?â You snort. âYou donât need it.â
âYou do.â
You blink at him rather stupidly - brain too tired and muddled to make sense of whatever that might mean. Probably just means humans in general. They probably have plenty of women and men over on a regular basis. Even if it is just for the night. Oddly considerate, either way.
âWhatâs the deal with the mask?â You blurt again, the slight lapse of silence putting you on edge.
Simon just shakes his head. âTo âide my face.â
âBooooring!â You boo, throwing out a dramatic thumbs down. To your surprise, youâre not met with annoyance. Just a deep chuckle and another shake of his head. âThanks for the tea.â
Simon nods and snags the now empty mug from you. You chugged it far faster than you realized. It worked, too. Your voice isnât as hoarse and your throat doesnât sting when you swallow.
âI should probablyâŠâ You murmur, looking back toward the room where Johnny and Kyle are assumably still sleeping away.
Simon grunts in agreement, following you back to his own door. You donât know what possesses you to stop beside him. To turn and meet his gaze with far less confidence than youâre used to wielding. You owe him for the tea, though.
âDo you wantâŠuhâŠâ You murmur, glancing into the room behind him.
Simon looks from you to the bed behind him - only to turn back with those smile lines forming in the corners of his eyes once again. âNot tonight, pretty girl. Youâve âad enough.â
You jump involuntarily when his large hand cups your cheek - thumb caressing ever to gently over your cheekbone. Maybe itâs the exhaustion, maybe itâs the fact that non-sexual touches are so rare in your life, but either way you find yourself tilting into it. Just a little.
âSleep well, sweetâeart.â With that he steps into his room, shutting the door with near deathly silence behind him.
Oh.
Okay.
You stare at his closed door for a few seconds too long, a slight furrow in your brow before turning back to Johnnyâs room. The two of them havenât moved much since you left, though Johnny has somehow ended up spread eagle across most of the bed. With some gentle maneuvering you manage to curl up in the crook of his outstretched arm with your head on his chest and back pressed against Kyleâs.
These men are going to be the death of you.
A/N: I wanted to put more into this chapter but I had to draw the line somewhere so itâs going to just have to get pushed to the next one.
Part of me was worried theyâre fucking too early but then I remembered I can do what I wantđ«Ą
Love Letter Aftermath
First part
The realization of receiving a love admission sinks in for the killers
Characters: Oni, Trapper, Deathslinger, Mastermind, Cannibal, Ghostface Warnings: Some spice Male!reader
The Oni - Kazan Yamaoka
He's angry
Angry at you for giving him that damn letter
And angry at himself for keeping it
He keeps it on his shrine
Even while he tries to distract himself with training between trials, your letter is all that's on his mind
At least once a day, for a couple of minutes, he stares at the letter while working up the courage to crumple it and dispose of it
He never can
When Rin found the letter, his heat sunk
She thought it was cute, but rolled her eyes at how Kazan was acting
The days following the letter, you've noticed in trials with Oni, he never downs you with his Kanabo anymore, only his Katana
Even during chases, when he's activated his blood fury right behind you, he stampedes off somewhere to down anyone else
And when he carries you to hooks, you've noticed how gently he holds you
But he never stays after hooking you and seems to avoid your gaze
Strangely, Rin has been giving you some leeway during trials as well
The Trapper - Evan MacMillan
When he got back to his realm after the trial, he immediately went to work on making a box for the letter
Yeah, a whole keepsake box for a single letter
He places it next to the box where he keeps his old drawings
Whenever he sees you in trials, he still gets those butterflies
If you step in one of his traps, he's immediately rushing to where he heard you scream
If he sees any other survivors trying to free you, he swats at them
Evan gently pulls at the jaw of the trap and pulls it apart, letting you retract your injured foot
He's trying his hardest not to ogle your legs
"Sorry," he mutters gruffly, his hands holding your leg softly while he inspects the damage
He picked up some gauze that one of the others dropped and begins to bandage your wound
He can feel your gaze burning holes into his mask as he works
He's the one to break the silence
"I've killed you... and your friends, over and over."
There's a long pause on your end before you respond
"I know"
You two leave it at that
The Deathslinger - Caleb Quinn
Caleb keeps the letter under the bar counter in his realm
Whenever he returns from an exhausting or lost trial, he looks at it
A small part of him still thinks you're messing with him
He's way too nervous and skittish around you now to do anything, so you're gonna have to initiate everything
In trials, you do your best to spend time with him
Especially when you insist that he treats you no different
When he carries you to hook, you take the moment to touch him
You turn your head to plant a kiss on the back of his neck
Caleb visibly shivers and lets out a groan
"Yer tryin' ta kill me, ain'tcha?"
"Is it working?"
Despite you asking otherwise, he tends to leave you alone when he can in trials, opting to hide the others
If you confront him about it, he'll deny it
The Mastermind - Albert Wesker
He keeps your letter in the inner pocket of his jacket
You definitely have his full attention now
Don't expect any special treatment, because he's not gonna give it
In fact, he seems to actively seek you out first if he knows you're in his trial
Wesker gets angry when you can't loop him for more than a couple of minutes
"Are you even trying? Pathetic"
While carrying you to a hook, he's lecturing you all the way
"You didn't run it tight enough. You were too greedy with the pallet. You didn't check your blind spots."
He'll get even more irritated if you start to tear up
Can't you see he's trying to help you?
Wesker refuses to have someone so vulnerable as an admirer
So you better get to it
If you do manage to improve and become better in trials, his attitude changes
It goes from scoldings to rewards
He takes off his gloves to hold your chin and pull you close
You feel his lips ghost over your cheek and shiver when he tightens his grip on you
He stares at your face, drinking up your reactions
And then he lets you go, watching as your face twists from dazed to confused
"What? Were you expecting a kiss?"
You're gonna have to do a lot more if you wanna get a smooch from him
The Cannibal - Bubba Sawyer
He tapped your letter to the side of his chainsaw
He gets all giddy when he glances at it during his sweeps, especially if he manages to down a survivor
It's his good luck charm
If he spots you in a trial, he'll literally drop everything to rush over and give you hug
Bubba would honestly hug you all trial if you let him
He's definitely become a bit more protective over you, maybe even prone to jealousy
He doesn't even let anyone work on gens with you, revving his chainsaw if anyone gets too close
Once everyone gets the message and leaves you two be, he'll sit behind you as you work and hug you
Expect lots of nuzzles
Bubba whines when the gen is completed and you have to stand up to find a new one
He follows you like a puppy until you find the next one and the process begins anew
The Ghostface - Danny Johnson
Danny doesn't really have anywhere he can store the letter safely
So he does the logical thing and memorizes it's contents, word for word
He doesn't care what happens to the paper
Sometimes during trials, he'll tease you by reciting it during chases
Even adding things you're certain you never added
"And I promise to always let you smash whenever and wherever you want," he says, mimicking your voice as you dangle from the hook
"I NEVER WROTE THAT!!"
Being her favorite, The Entity doesn't care if Danny spares you every trial
But he won't
Because he's a meanie
"No hard feelings, right boo?" He coos as he plunges his blade into your back
If you're sore about it, he's more than happy to make it up to you
He'll run his cold leather-gloved hands under your shirt, pressing you against a wall as you try to stay angry
"Come on, don't be like that," he mutters into your ear, squishing your sides
If you fold now, he'll tease you for being whipped
But if you stay strong, he'll pull out the big guns
He buries his masked face into your neck, slowly grinding his hips against yours
"You feel that, baby? You feel how sorry I am?" He growls, pressing his hard-on against you
The Cook and The Teacher!
Let's pretend The Bear and Abbot Elementary are in the same city.
Another cute interaction between Carmen (Carmy) Berzatto x Abbot Teacher Femreader! Sunshinereader!
Carmy stood in the dimly lit laundry room, hands on his hips as he glared at the washing machine like it had personally wronged him. The display panel flashed erratically, like it was trying to send an SOS in Morse code, while a faint but concerning smell of burning plastic wafted through the air.
He let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through his already disheveled hair. All he wanted was to wash his clothesâjust one normal task in a sea of chaos. Apparently, even that was asking too much.
With a frustrated sigh, he muttered curses under his breath and gave the machine a half-hearted nudge with his foot, as if that might magically revive it. Spoiler alert: it didnât. The machine remained defiantly lifeless.
âWow. Bold strategy. Were you planning to wrestle it next?â
The voice startled him. He turned sharply to see you standing in the doorway, holding a laundry basket overflowing with brightly colored clothes. You were dressed in the epitome of Saturday comfort: an oversized t-shirt with a graphic that read 'Physics: Itâs Not Rocket Science... Oh, Wait, Yes It Is,' paired with baggy sweatpants and ridiculously fluffy, colorful monster feet slippers. Your hair was slightly messy like youâd just rolled out of bedâor perhaps fought the laundry demons he was now dealing with.
Your lips curved into a teasing smile as you tilted your head. âIâm impressed. I didnât know machines responded to passive-aggressive foot taps.â
Carmy let out a quiet sigh, rubbing the back of his neck. âDidnât have a better idea.â
âWell,â you said, stepping into the room and setting your basket down on the counter, âI hate to break it to you, but this thing looks like itâs plotting your demise. Whatâs the issue? Wonât open?â
âIt stopped mid-cycle,â he explained, gesturing toward the uncooperative machine. âClothes are stuck. Itâs probably fried.â
âOof. Smells like defeat and polyester.â You crouched down to inspect the machine, tilting your head like a mechanic sizing up a stubborn engine. âLooks like itâs giving you the silent treatment. Did you try apologizing? Promising to separate your whites and darks next time?â
âFunny,â Carmy deadpanned, though the twitch of his lips betrayed his amusement.
You straightened up, planting your hands on your hips in a stance that could only be described as authoritative. âWell, lucky for you, Carmy-next-door, I happen to be an expert in broken things.â
Carmy raised an eyebrow, leaning back against the counter. âYeah? Howâs that?â
You let out a playful scoff, crouching in front of the washing machine as if it were a patient in need of your expertise. âWhen you work in a place that runs on shoestring budgets and prayers, you pick up a thing or two about fixing stuff. Iâve practically got a minor in MacGyver-ing. Itâs part of my many talents.â
He smirked, watching as you pressed a few buttons and tapped the side of the machine like you were coaxing it back to life. âSounds like a tough gig.â
âOh, itâs a blast,â you replied sarcastically with a grin, peering at the machineâs latch. âBut the real fun is my lovely fourth graders and their⊠slippery fingers. Nothing keeps you on your toes like finding out your class staplerâs been dismantled to âsee how it works.ââ
âAnd you adore them,â Carmy guessed, his voice soft but sure.
âUgh, to a fault,â you admitted, sitting back on your heels to glance at him. âTheyâre chaos in human form, but theyâre my chaos. Like when Marcus decided to see if he could use glitter glue as a bookmark. Spoiler alert: he couldnât. And then there was Kaylaâs science project that involved exactly zero science but a lot of snacks. Kids are wild, but theyâre kind of the best.â
Carmy chuckled, the sound low and warm as he shook his head. âSounds like youâve got your hands full.â
You huff a laugh nodding. âBut they make all the broken stuff worth it... also, theyâve prepared me for moments like this. Fixing things? Iâm a pro. Diffusing meltdowns? Also a pro. Dodging paper balls? Letâs just say my reflexes are unmatched.â
He chuckled quietly, his blue eyes softening as he observed your easy confidence. âSounds like youâve got it all figured out.â
âOh, hardly,â you said with a self-deprecating laugh.
He watched as you tinkered with the inner workings of the washer, the way your monster-footed slippers stuck out behind you, and the light in your eyes as you spoke about your students. There was something captivating about the way you movedâconfident but never overbearing, your words spilling out in an endless stream of humor and warmth. For someone who probably dealt with endless chaos in your day-to-day life, you had an energy about youâwarmthâmessy and vibrantâthat felt oddly grounding in his otherwise muted world.
Finally, with a triumphant click, the washerâs door popped open. A puff of warm, damp air escaped, carrying with it the faint scent of detergent. You rocked back on your heels, grinning up at him as if youâd just disarmed a bomb.
âAnd there you have it!â you declared standing up, sweeping your arm dramatically toward the liberated laundry like a game show host revealing a grand prize. âYour clothes are finally free, Chef Carmy. Laundry liberation, courtesy of yours truly. I accept gratitude in the form of snacks, coffee, or eternal admirationâyour choice. But please, no autographs. I have to stay humble.â
âYouâre something else, you know that?â Carmy said, huffing a quiet laugh as he shook his head, stepping forward to start transferring the damp clothes into another machine. His tone softened slightly as he added, âBut thanks, really. I owe you one.â
You waved a hand dismissively, already moving to the next machine with your own basket in tow.
âDonât worry about it, CarmyâŠâ you said, your tone casual, though the smirk playing on your lips suggested otherwise. âBut, if you do feel like you want to repay me, feel free to bring me more of those leftoversâlike the ones you brought when I first moved in.â
He paused, eyebrows raising slightly as he met your gaze. âThatâs what you want? Leftovers?â
âNot just any leftovers,â you clarified, turning back to load more clothes. âThe fancy ones. Braised short ribs, perfectly roasted vegetables... whatever culinary magic youâre whipping up in that kitchen of yours. Donât think I forgot.â
Carmy paused mid-transfer, glancing at you with a faint, almost embarrassed smile. âYou liked those, huh?â
âLiked?â you scoffed, tossing a pair of socks into the machine. âI was ready to write you a thank-you sonnet. That braised short rib? Poetry in food form. Youâve ruined me for takeout forever.â
He chuckled softly, shutting the door to his machine. âIt was just a test recipe.â
âWell, then Iâd be happy to test more of your recipes,â you said with a wink, starting your own machine and leaning back against it. âStrictly as a favor, of course. Iâm nothing if not generous.â
âGenerous,â he repeated, shaking his head with a smirk as he pressed the start button on his machine. He glanced at you, the faintest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. âAlright. Iâll see what I can do.â
âSee?â you teased, flashing him a grin. âYouâre already getting the hang of this whole neighborly exchange thing. Donât worry, Iâll keep my expectations high.â
Carmy shook his head, letting out another quiet laugh. âYouâre impossible.â
âAnd yet, here you are,â you quipped, settling yourself into the nearby chair and grabbing a book from the empty laundry basket at your feet. You opened it casually, like you werenât fully aware of the fact that his attention was still on you. âDonât keep me waiting too long, Chef Carmy. Iâve got standards now.â
Carmy smirked faintly, shaking his head as he leaned back against the counter, arms loosely crossed. His gaze lingered on you for a moment longer than he intended, watching as you flipped through the book, completely at ease. The light in the room, though dim and slightly yellowed, softened your features, making you look... warm. Pretty, even. The oversized t-shirt, the messy hair, and those ridiculous monster slippers didnât detract from itâin fact, they only made you more endearing. Not that heâd ever admit that out loud. Instead, he tucked the thought neatly into the back of his mind, letting it sit there quietly.
The faint hum of the working washing machine filled the space, stretching the silence between you into something that felt oddly comfortable. He wasnât used to thatânot in conversations, not in moments like these. Usually, silence felt heavy, awkward, something to be broken. But this? This felt... different.
Still, the need to say something eventually won out, despite his lack of finesse with small talk. Clearing his throat softly, Carmy shifted his weight and finally asked, âSo... uh, how are you liking it here?â
You glanced up from your book, your lips curving into a small, knowing smile. âIn the building? Or in the laundry room?â
Carmy huffed a quiet laugh, looking down briefly before meeting your eyes again. âThe biulding, I guess."
âOh, itâs not bad,â you said, leaning back in your chair. âThe walls are a little thinâI may or may not know the entire plot of the soap opera your upstairs neighbor is bingingâbut they are decent. A little quiet, though, except for one guy who keeps kicking appliances. Total menace.â
âSounds rough,â Carmy deadpanned, though his smirk gave him away.
âIt is,â you said with mock solemnity before your smile softened. âBut honestly? I like it. Itâs... cozy, you know? Feels like a place where things can settle down.â
He nodded slowly, his gaze dropping briefly to the floor. âThatâs good.â
âItâs growing on me,â you admitted, closing the book and resting it on your lap. âI mean, itâs not every day you move into a building and immediately make friends with someone whoâs probably going to be on the cover of Some Fancy Chef Magazine someday.â
âFriends?â he said, arching a brow.
âYeah, friends,â you replied with a teasing grin. âOr at least laundry room acquaintances.â
He shook his head, his smirk softening into something closer to genuine. âFriend's better.â
"Good," You smiled, shifting slightly in your chair. âSo, Carmy-next-door, aside from working and battling possessed washing machines, what do you do for fun?â
âFor fun?â he repeated, raising an eyebrow as though youâd just asked him to name every spice in his kitchen alphabetically. âUh... I donât know. Not sure Iâve got much time for that.â
âNot buying it,â you shot back, narrowing your eyes playfully. âEveryoneâs got something. Come on, spill. Whatâs your guilty pleasure? Do you secretly knit in your downtime? Binge-watch trashy reality TV? Start a garden but refuse to tell anyone because it ruins your âserious chefâ vibe? And if you are, I know someone who could be your new best friend.â
He let out another quiet laugh, rubbing the back of his neck. âNone of those, but now Iâm thinking I should start knitting just to throw people off.â
âDo it,â you said, pointing at him. âThen you can make me a scarf. But seriously, whatâs your thing? Thereâs gotta be something.â
Carmy hesitated for a moment, his gaze dropping briefly before meeting yours again. âI guess... sometimes Iâll just walk around the city. Clears my head, you know?â
You nodded, smiling softly. âThatâs a solid choice. City walks are like people-watching with a side of fresh air. Whatâs your favorite spot?â
âThere's this park near the river. Quiet, not too crowded. Good place to think." Carmy tells her.
"Sounds nice," you replied, smiling. "I might have to check it out sometime."
"You should," Carmy said, his expression softening. He clears his throat, "I-uh, I used to draw, though. Sketch stuff when I had the time.â
âUsed to?â you asked, leaning forward a bit, intrigued. âYou mean you donât anymore? Or are you just too modest to admit youâve got sketchbooks hidden under your bed?â
His smirk faltered into something a little more genuine, a touch of shyness creeping into his expression. âI still do. Sometimes. When things arenât too crazy.â
âNow thatâs interesting,â you said, sitting back with a thoughtful smile. âWhat kind of stuff do you draw? People? Landscapes? Elaborate food masterpieces?â
âA little of everything,â he said with a small shrug. âBut mostly recipes, or at least how I want them to look."
âLike a visual diary,â you said, nodding. âThatâs actually really cool.â
âYeah, well...â he trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck. âItâs nothing big.â
âCarmy,â you said, tilting your head at him. âYou just admitted to having an actual hobby, and Iâm here for it. Donât downplay it.â
He huffed, shaking his head flushing ever so slightly. âAlright. What about you? What do you do for fun?â
âMe?â you repeated, your eyes lighting up as you sat back in the chair, clutching your book like a prop in a comedy routine. âWell, letâs see. Iâm a professional daydreamer, certified in overthinking, and an expert-level snack enthusiast. Itâs an impressive resume, I know.â
Carmy chuckled, the corner of his mouth twitching into a rare smile. âSounds like a full-time job.â
âOh, it is,â you said with a mock-serious nod. âBut if weâre being serious... I like to read, obviously.â You held up the book for emphasis. âAnd Iâm a sucker for a good movie. Big screen, small screen, doesnât matter. I also like to go out with friendsâ go to clubs, a karaoke bar, grab dinner, play board games, complain about life. You know, the usual.â
He tilted his head, his expression softening. âAny favorites? Books or movies?â
âHmm,â you mused, tapping your chin. âFor books, I like a little bit of everythingâmysteries, fantasy, even the occasional cheesy romance. Keeps life interesting. And movies... Iâm a sucker for feel-good comedies. But every now and then, Iâll binge something dark and broody just to balance it out.â
Carmy nodded, his gaze thoughtful. âFeel-good comedies? Got any recommendations?â
âOh, Iâve got tons,â you said, your eyes gleaming. âBut only if youâre ready for some real classics. Think Clueless, The Princess Bride, or When Harry Met Sally. If youâve never seen those, we might have to reassess this friendship.â
âClueless,â he repeated, remembering the movie because of Natalie who forced him and Mikey to watch it, one eyebrow-raising. âThat the one with âAs ifâ?â
âYes!â you exclaimed, pointing at him with enthusiasm. âSee? Youâre already on the right track.â
He smirked, shaking his head again. âIâll take your word for it.â
âWhat about you? Do you watch movies, or is that too much fun for someone as serious as Chef Carmy?â
He smirked, rubbing the back of his neck. âI watch stuff sometimes. Nothing specific. Just... whateverâs on.â
âLame answer,â you teased, narrowing your eyes at him. âWeâll work on that. Iâll make you a list. Everyone needs go-to favorite movies.â
âIâll hold you to it,â he said, his smirk softening.
âGood,â you replied with a playful nod, leaning back in your chair. âAnd since youâre such a layer enigma, like an onion, Iâm guessing you donât do the whole ânight out with friendsâ thing often?â
âNot really,â he admitted, his tone quieter now. âDoesnât happen much.â
âYou should,â you said, leaning forward slightly, your tone teasing but warm. âYou might surprise yourself. One minute youâre awkwardly standing in a corner, and the next, youâre reenacting a dance scene from Dirty Dancing with a stranger. Thatâs how the best stories happen.â
Carmy shook his head, a quiet laugh escaping him. âNot sure thatâs my thing.â
âHey, it doesnât have to be Dirty Dancing,â you said with a shrug. âBut everyone deserves a good night out now and then. Even mysterious chef-next-door types.â
âIâll think about it,â he said, a faint smile tugging at his lips. âBut no promises.â
âFair,â you replied, looking over at him with a soft smile. âIâm just saying, Chef Carmy, you canât live in your kitchen forever. Sometimes youâve gotta step out and find your own rom-com moment.â
Carmy stared at you for a moment, a small, genuine smile tugging at his lips. He shook his head, as though amused by something he couldnât quite put into words, but the warmth in his expression lingered.
The hum of the machines filled the room, a soft backdrop to your easy conversation. What started as playful banter drifted into more thoughtful exchangesâsmall glimpses into each otherâs lives, quirks, and histories.
Minutes melted into what felt like seconds, neither of you noticing the time slipping away. For once, it wasnât about schedules, responsibilities, or the ever-present noise of the outside world. Just two neighbors sharing stories in the glow of the laundry roomâs dim light.
A/N: So, thank you so much for all the support. It really keeps me going. I'm thinking of making like a small series of this, like a few interactions before they started dating- maybe some jealousy along the way lol- the first date- maybe the future but idk.
Also, just in case I do, please tell me if you would like to be tagged.
Part 4?
