the transparent ones are because while hibiki loves both modern and retro gaming pretty equally, he's definitely got a preference for retro and thinks turn based rpgs are fun but it definitely depends on what the devs are going for- say, xenoblade is a fantastic rpg that... would not be nearly as good if it was turn based, for example. stuff like that. and while he still really likes featherman and would totally marathon it with futaba, he also feels like he's outgrown loving it.

softly, but with feeling: i love your akechi a lot! he's so fun!! words are hard bc i'm a lil sleepy right now but i love how much care goes into the balancing act that his Everything(tm) entails- keeping him sympathetic but held accountable; i find it's easy to want to lean into one direction or the other, but all the layers and facets to his personality shine through well! basically you're doing great, keep it up~ and i'd love to see more yusuke, joker, and mona too <3

ahhh, thank you!!! maintaining that balance is super important to me, it's something i think about a lot while writing him, so i'm very glad to hear that that comes through, and i'm accomplishing what i'm trying to! 💜

Akechi laughs, but it's utterly mirthless. This new reality may have given him a second lease on life, but there was no point in indulging in it. The palace's ruler had to be toppled, and that was that. He would prefer death over living in the palm of a fool's hand. He was dead no matter what, and, thus, he didn't see any reason to reconnect with Hibiki again.

Not for the latter's lack of trying, of course. Hibiki had invited him to darts. Alone. It was obvious what he really wanted. To reconnect and see what went wrong and what could be righted.

Worthless. Utterly worthless.

Hibiki doesn't know that Akechi will die, but he's being an idiot regardless. What was the worth in befriending a murderer -- especially one who had killed people his friends knew and cherished? Those people were resurrected in this false reality as well ... a grim reminder that, had it not been for him, they'd still be alive today.

He has too many sins on his ledger, and he won't pay them. Where he's going, he won't need to.

"You're wasting your breath. I don't know what you think you saw in me, but it was a lie. We both know I was lying the entire time."

He wants to break something. A table, maybe. But he doesn't. He sits there, seething, his knuckles whitening as he clenches the one of the darts they were playing with earlier.

The first time I heard this song... I damn near cried.

Every lyric, every note--it's all Ann picking herself back up after what Kamoshida did to her and getting her justice. The line 'When I'm finished, they won't know your name.' just... I can't put into words. It gave me chills.

(I still think it's bullshit this song missed out on the Grammy in favor of Ed Sheehan singing about how he was horny, but that's neither here nor there, ahem.)

“Hibiki, wait up!” Nix hurried over, carefully moving around the other crowds of students. A small sigh of relief passed her lips as she made it beside him, feeling a little more at ease. Even with the judgmental stares on her, she was able to shrug it off enough when around the other. If the other students wanted to whisper more rumors, that was their choice but she knew that Hibiki wasn’t a bad person in the least. That was all that mattered to her. “Did you want to have lunch together today? Or are you on your way to visit your friends? I don’t want to get in the way of er.. whatever it is you all do together.”

to say so would probably be rude, though, so he hands the device back to luigi and smiles brightly. weird machine aside, the entire notion of chasing and fighting ghosts does seem rad as hell. "i didn't peg you as the ghost busting type, but that's really cool! does mario do it too? i bet you guys have loads of stories, hehe."

while hibiki accepts that the atrocities are part of goro and why he turned out the way he did, he doesn't find them funny and goro would have to commit to changing for the better for things to work out long term ( during the events of the game, however, he is hoping he can win him over by showing him kindness and offering a place to belong, and thus get him to quit while he's ahead. unfortunately, as we know, this doesn't pan out and it's a very good, lucky thing he was aware that it probably wasn't going to happen. ) also, while we know he's a pretty, pretty man and thus i marked it... biki himself doesn't, lmao. he thinks goro's like a million times prettier.

There was a ghost of a smile on Hifumi's face as she brushed a lock of her silky black hair behind her ear, her bright green eyes twinkling as she locked them with Hibiki's.

"However... it might be beneficial to broaden my horizons. Do you have any strategy-oriented activities that you enjoy? It might give me muse for another attack against the enemy lines in a future match."

It would not surprise her at all if he did; after all, she always sensed that he had some sort of gambler's streak in him. Betting wasn't where her heart lied, of course, but the thrill of the battle could be the same no matter the game or sport.

Eden shouldn't really be shocked; she knew Hibiki well enough. Still, she lets a little gasp out, and crosses her hands over her hips. "I wish I could steal some," she admits with ease. Slumping forward, Eden looks... diminutive. Like the weight of it all could crush her.

"It's like, sometimes I'm on top of the world, y'know? Like nothing could ever touch me." She smacks her hands together, bringing one fist into the palm of the other, "But then, I get hit with it all over again. And it's like - am I even good at this music stuff, or are people just showing up because they pity me?"
