19 kissing their injuries / ObiKai for @foolishk <3 eheheh
Kaiya shivered in the sunlight, batting her eyes against it. It felt like an entire lifetime had passed since she'd last tilted her face toward the sky to enjoy the sun's warmth.
The chirping of birds felt loud enough to shatter glass, the wind like it might be strong enough to pull her apart.
At least then she wouldn't have to feel the ragged tug of shackles against her wrists as the two ANBU guards who flanked her led her through the village.
"Where are we going?" she asked again.
No answer. Same as last time.
She didn't mind, really. Being outside was a vast improvement over the quarters she'd been given in the bowels of T&I, with a dirt floor and a flimsy futon directly next to the toilet built into the wall.
Kaiya wondered what she would be doing in her Tsukuyomi dream if she'd been allowed to enjoy Obito's perfect world as she'd always wanted.
She noticed they were reaching the edge of the village and panic rose in Kaiya's throat. Her arms tensed as she turned to each of the ANBU and asked again, "Please, where are you taking me?"
The only answer was silence and one sharp tug from the ANBU on her right, who wore a mask that looked more like a frog than anything, though hardly that.
Kaiya's lower lip trembled and she bit down hard on it to stiffle the wobbly sob that crawled its way out of her chest. She trained her eyes on the ground, watching her sandaled feet as they scraped their way through the dry Konoha dirt.
If this was an execution, surely there would be more people, right?
Despite knowing that, she couldn't bring herself to look where she was going and Kaiya didn't look up again until the ANBU escorting her finally came to a halt. She stumbled a little, but managed to remain upright despite the sharp tug of the shackles when she took one too many steps.
When she glanced ahead, it was to find a small, squat building and the Sixth Hokage standing before the door.
Kakashi looked strange in the flowing white robes of his new position, but Kaiya could not help but smile in return when she saw the way his eyes creased at the corners.
Kakashi had always been so kind. She was certain that without him, without the power he wielded within the village, she would not have survived this long.
"Good morning," he said, walking toward her. "How are you feeling?"
Kaiya shook her wrists in their restraints in answer.
"Yes, well," Kakashi gestured for the ANBU to release her and they did so after only a brief hesitation.
As if Kaiya could overpower them. Especially with Kakashi there. The thought was so ludicrous she almost laughed.
"Come," Kakashi said once she'd rolled her newly-freed wrists, and Kaiya followed him to the door of the building. He paused, hand on the knob, as he whispered, "If it were up to only me, things would be different. But this was a compromise I was able to come to with the Elders."
Kaiya didn't know what waited for her beyond the door, but if Kakashi was here, she could trust it would be better than what she was leaving behind.
"Thank you," she whispered, trying not to cry in the face of his kindness.
With a nod, Kakashi opened the door and gestured for her to step inside. "There will be ANBU guards outside twenty-four-seven," he said, "but I've instructed them not to intrude unless it's a matter of life or death."
Kaiya stared at him, eyes watery, and nodded.
"Welcome home, Kaiya," Kakashi said, offering her another smile as he pulled the door closed. She stared at the wood grain, following the intricate patterns with her eyes. When she reached out to touch it, she could feel the thrum of powerful fuinjutsu, likely seals which had been placed there to keep her inside.
"It's a lovely prison they've given us, isn't it?"
Kaiya turned so fast she tripped, smashing her hip against a table as she caught herself.
But that voice--his voice--she couldn't possibly...
When one strong hand circled her bicep, Kaiya looked up and felt relief break over her like a wave.
Obito Uchiha stared down at her, irritation plain on his face, but eyes swimming with concern. With longing, even.
Kaiya threw herself into his arms, relieved tears finally freeing themselves over the dam of her lashes. She whispered his name over and over as he tried to soothe her sudden outburst. He ran one hand over her long, tangled hair, and pressed a gentle kiss to her temple.
"It's been so long," she said through the bubbling sound of a sob. She couldn't quite articulate the rest. The I thought I'd never see you again, but it was there in her desperate grasp, in the way she shook in his embrace.
Obito led her through the little house, guided her down to the bed so he could hold her more comfortably as she cried. He didn't flinch when her tears soaked his shirt, didn't push her away when she clawed her way closer, like she was trying to fold their bodies together until they were one being.
"It's okay," he said softly, "I'm here."
Kaiya didn't know how long it took for her tears to finally subside, for air to move easily in and out of her lungs again rather than in sharp, too-shallow rasps.
She leaned up so she could look down at Obito, all the grief and fear mingling with relief and love until she was some amalgam of them all--relieved and afraid and desperately happy despite her lingering unease.
She didn't know what to say to him, and Obito didn't open his mouth, either. Instead, he reached up and tucked her long hair behind her ear, then trailed his fingers over her jaw.
"This is where you broke it, isn't it?" he asked.
Kaiya didn't like to think about it--Sayuri's rage burning in her eyes and the sharp, definitive thwack of her bo against Kaiya's cheek.
The seering pain which seemed to radiate from the damaged bone all the way to her core, burrowing in her heart as she ignored Sayuri's pleas. Her condemnation.
Kaiya leaned into Obito's touch. "The medics fixed it. My fingers, too," she added, wriggling her left hand in his face.
Something flashed in Obito's eyes, that soft part of him so few ever saw, and he drew her down, pressing his lips to the underside of her jaw, the exact spot which had bloomed purple and mottled green those first few weeks after the end of the war before Kakashi's pink-haired student had arrived to tend to her injuries.
Kaiya gasped as he sucked the skin between his teeth, then pulled away so he could drag her hand up to his mouth instead, fluttering kisses over her knuckles, her fingerprints. Two of them were still a little crooked, though it was so subtle only Kaiya noticed.
She ached with longing, overwhelmed by the tenderness of his affection.
When Obito finished, Kaiya reached out to tenderly stroke the scars along the right side of his face. And though those wounds were far from fresh, mended long ago, she leaned in and fluttered kisses over them, anyway, to remind him that she loved him, too.
Obito threaded his fingers into her hair, sighing softly at the slightest brush of her mouth. She trailed them down, over his neck to the exposed ridge of his collarbone. Her hands found their way beneath his shirt and she pushed it up, but Obito stopped her.
Kaiya was not always strong-willed. Often, she wished she had more of Sayuri or Obito in her, the ability to stand tall in the face of things, to make her voice heard.
Now, she drew on all that courage she had witnessed in both of them and fixed Obito with a resolute stare.
"I want to see."
Obito hesitated only a moment before he tugged his shirt over his head. His chest, mottled with the white scars of his ordeal at Kannabi now bore new, stark reminders of the War.
Kaiya's eyes shone with fresh tears when she saw the ragged edges of the wound in his abdomen, the white spider webbing of scars over his chest.
If she concentrated only a little, she could imagine what they'd looked like before they'd healed over, before the implanted cells in Obito's body had done their job of keeping him alive.
She didn't think before she moved, leaning down to brush her lips tentatively over each mark, like she could erase the fractured scars and replace them with all the warmth of her adoration. Her deep, unceasing belief in Obito and his dreams. Her tears ran over her cheeks, wetting his skin, and she could taste the saline of them as she continued her way up his torso.
Kaitya silently mouthed the words I love you over his skin, too afraid to say the words aloud, afraid maybe this was all part of a dream, still. That she'd reawaken in her nightmare cell underground, where there was no sunshine and no birdsong and no Obito.
They didn't talk much the rest of the day, content to lie in one another's arms, like if they let go all of this would disappear. Occasionally, Obito would comb his fingers through Kaiya's hair or she would trace idle patterns over his bare chest and arms.
Maybe she really was in the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
Eventually, Kaiya drifted to sleep as the sun began to set, the soundtrack of a song birds and Obito's breathing still loud in her ears.

Hey Q! I want to ask you abt questions 23., 24. And 25. pls!? <3
23. What are your life goals?
Just being happy. It's such a stupid answer to some degree but legit that's all I just want to be happy at the end of the day. Otherwise I guess... - Post a actual fanfic, the one I keep saying I'll do but the one I'm too nervous to share. I'm afraid it'll get nitpicked over by the Naruto/Aburame fans. I'm afraid it won't be good. - Move again. Living in this state has been hell. - I want to go see my friends in Europe! But also go to Japan at least once, I want to see the world in person and not just behind a screen. - This one is going to sound so silly...but, I do actually want to maybe like...set up a community- like you know. I want to house people and make sure they aren't freezing at night. But I know that's also difficult to do. So at the least just support those I can.
24. What's something you like about yourself that you wish more people recognized?
Answered!
25. What are your core memories?
- Age: 5 | Being a therapist to my mom in someone's house, this is my first memory- it's also the one I recall not wanting to be here - Age: 15/16 | That time I tried to tell my dad about what I was seeing in his girl friend but him just blowing me off, it was 5 am - Age: 12 | My dad saying how he did mess up with me yet there was no feeling behind it - Age: 10 | That time I embarrassingly "ran away" for the afternoon so I wouldn't have to see my mother and watch my half brothers for a week, still was made to go once I got back - Age: 10 | That time my grandfather told off my mother after she legit beat me in front of him Won't lie some of them don't get better from there. But short to say, the good times are so small but- - Age: 15 | That time me and my high school friends went to the beach for my birthday, I think that was my happiest day - Age: 10 | The day I first saw my dog, I had wanted her but I was like "No, older dogs deserve homes too." and then my grandfather still chose her and got her for me- she tried to sleep in my bed with that first night and I had accidentally rolled on her. Took me months to get her back up in bed and get that trust again.

i have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. i do not think they will sing to me.
saya has not seen the ocean in a long time.
she stands on the beach, letting the rocks poke into the bare soles of her feet as she squishes rough sand between her toes. the surf is melodic, soothing. a rush of water up the beach like it's trying to break free and then the soft stretch and yawn of the undercurrent as it is called home.
saya likes the ocean. likes the cold sting of it when it nips at her toes on the beach, likes the smell as it invades her nostrils, clings thickly to the strands of her hair and coats her tongue.
she likes the white salt stains on her uniform when it dries after she's wandered into the surf and allowed the crabs to pinch her heels before they burrow down out of sight.
sometimes, she likes the idea of sinking down, down, down into the depths of it. until the sun is a pinprick in the distance and all she can hear is the pressure mounting in her ears, the roar and rush of water, the way it would push against her almost like a hug until she broke open.
mostly, though, saya just wishes there was someone to sit beside her on the sand, to let their hair whip against their eyes and mouth in time with hers. to laugh at how ridiculous she looks when she tries to comb her fingers through it, only to find it hopelessly snarled together.
maybe she even wishes someone else would run their fingers through it for her, though that's too vulnerable a thing to truly consider. too stupid a thing to allow herself to hope.
saya watches the sun set slowly over the distant horizon, painting the waves first pink and then orange and then indigo. she wonders what her mother would see if she were here; whether she'd paint the scene tomorrow from memory, capturing each ripple of color, every star dotted overhead.
she is so lost in her ruminations that she doesn't hear the other person approach until they are nearly standing beside her, the soft sound of bare feet on sand apparently drowned out by the tide.
but when saya does eventually look up, it's like maybe she really is sinking into the abyss of the ocean because she can't breathe.
she's beautiful. more than that, she hardly seems real--long dark hair whipping in the gentle ocean breeze and a striking face saya wishes she could sculpt with her fingers, paying careful attention to the slope of her cheeks and the subtle upturn of her nose.
it would not be at all surprising if the woman walked herself into the surf like it was her home--if her legs turned to shimmering, dark scales so she could return to her rightful kingdom beneath the sea.
but she's no mermaid, saya realizes as she takes in the rest of her, recognizing the stain of charcoal and pastels on the other woman's fingers. she wants to ask her what she's been working on, but the words catch in her throat.
no stranger would be glad to talk to her. no one wants her attention, her curiosity.
that's why she has sat on the beach alone all day, listening to the conversations of passers-by and watching families build sandcastles only for the surf to destroy them.
"it's pretty, isn't it?"
the voice surprises her. it's soft, so delicate it shouldn't even be audible over the rush of the wind. but it cuts straight to saya's core, buries itself in her chest to warm her from within. a steady, glowing ember.
saya looks up and the woman is smiling down at her, but there is something about her eyes that betrays the expression. an unspoken thing all too familiar--that deep aching pit of loneliness saya feels all the way to her bare, frozen toes.
"it is. really lovely."
the stranger nods, apparently satisfied by saya's reponse, and she turns to wander the beach, hair still flowing like a mermaid's in her wake. saya wishes she were brave enough to call out, ask her to stay. or perhaps to follow her down the beach, wherever she might lead.
but the tide has risen and saya shivers when the water wraps around her feet and tries to drag her out to sea.
not this time, she thinks, as she stands to brush the sand from her clothes so she can return to the shabby inn she's booked for the evening. tomorrow, she will return home, where there is no ocean.
she hopes the scent will linger in her nose a little while. same as the image of charcoal fingers and mermaid hair, a tiny ember fighting to keep her warm from within.

Well Nisi already asked abt the ot3. can I ask abt shibi x kin 💜
SEND ME A SHIP and i’ll tell you:
KinShi (Shibi Aburame/oc.Mae-Hui Kim)
Who wakes up first in the morning: Kin - She does. She gets up and gets ready earlier than him. But sometimes he wakes up first and just drags her in closer to him to sleep. Usually though he wakes up after her and makes the bed.
Who’s the first to fall asleep at night: It's actually a 50/50 when one or the other falls asleep, though she falls asleep first more than him by a small margin- she's more tired than he is always.
What they playfully tease each other over: Kin - He will tease and pick on her for anything really. But most commonly he teases her about her height and how he's now got the high ground. Since when they were younger she was vastly taller in comparison and now he stands above her by three inches. Which she will always retort back that he's still a shorty when she's in her heels. Shibi - She calls him her queen bee for a reason. She teases him about anything and everything. But she calls him that because the first time he had to explain the way his clan could almost be seen as working, was as a bee structure- implying he was a queen bee in the making. Eventually it transferred into her calling him Shi-Bee. But otherwise she picks on him for anything she can find that day.
What they do when the other’s having a bad day: Kin - If she sees he's having a rough day she makes sure to spend more time helping him with skin care, paperwork, whatever he needs. Though by the end of the night she makes sure to hold him a bit closer and run her fingers through his hair. She knows he mostly wants physical touch anymore in their old age. Shibi - He knows there's no real way to communicate with her when she's truly having a bad day. But he's found that sending her messages with his hive tends to help ease the situation. She'll usually respond on paper and his hive will come back to him with the information. When she's ready to talk she'll come.
How they say ‘i’m sorry’ after arguments: Kin - When she realizes she needs to apologize she can get kind of huffy. But relents and eventually will go to him. She'll apologize to him while holding his hand. Shibi - When he realizes he needs to apologize he does it outright. He goes to her and apologizes. This doesn't often work with her and depending on the level of offense he might be able to persuade her with a kiss or two. Otherwise he lets her cool off a little and then goes back to the topic with a smooch.
Which one’s more ticklish: Kin, Absolutely her. But only because he's trained himself not to be anymore.
Their favourite rainy day activities: Their favorite activity is to snuggle up together and read a book. It's such a rare treat that they get down time together. But just having a simple task makes their shared time so much sweeter.
How they surprise each other: Kin - If he's working in the village green house and she's off for the day she goes to visit him. Has a picnic basket and everything made. Technically she shouldn't even be in there but she "sneaks in" by "bribing" the people at the desk with some slices of cake usually. They then have lunch together. Shibi - He knows his wife loves insects, knows she loves jewels too. Sometimes when he's out on missions he'll look for a small store that sells crystalized insects. Though he's also made some too. Usually he makes them with the kids and gift them to her that way.
Their most sickening shows of public affection: Kin - Kissing him since he gets flustered over PDA. But otherwise it's just taking his arm by hooking it in hers. Grabbing his hand and kissing his fingertips. Boy does he die from that. Shibi - He isn't into PDA as much as she it. So for him kissing her in public is pretty damn impressive. Don't even think he makes out with her in public. Otherwise he just holds her hands and kisses her knuckles instead.
