And finally, the last of the winter recap group and arguably the weakest one in my personal opinion. I've been wanting to do something like this for a while but I feel like it could be better.
Anyways, not sure what's going on here, but it seems Max is in a heap of trouble.
It should also be noted that Jaxx is by all accounts the Grim Reaper in Orrena, so take that as you will.

Astarion x fem Tav — angst
T/W: abuse, blood
Notes: I’m so proud of this one ahh. This makes me hate Cazador even more.
Tav's body trembled as the shackles dug into her wrists, her bare skin exposed to the cold, damp air of the dungeon. She had been captured by Cazador one night by his spawns. Tav never returned back to camp that night, and the only thing that was left for Astarion was a note he found on a spawn:
-------
"My Dear spawn, how dare you to run away from me. Know that there will be consequences for your actions, and your lover will not be spared from my wrath. You will regret ever crossing me, my child."
-------
Her wrists were bound by heavy shackles, chains attached to the wall, preventing her from moving more than a few inches. The sharp metal dug into her skin, causing her to wince in pain every time she struggled against them. Her body was covered in bruises, cuts, and burns, the result of Cazador's ruthless torture techniques.
Cazador stood in front of Tav, a wicked grin on his face. He held a whip in his hand, the same one he had used to lash Tav's back until it bled. She could barely lift her head to look at him, her body exhausted and broken.
"Pathetic," Cazador sneered, his eyes filled with malice. "You thought you could hide from me? A mere mortal challenging a vampire? How foolish."
Cazador stood in front of her, his face twisted into a sadistic grin. "You think your lover, Astarion, will save you from me? He will help me ascend and be nothing more than dirt on the floor. And soon, you will be too. Tell me where is the boy."
Tav's heart sank at the mention of Astarion's name. All Tav wanted was to trade with a merchant to gift Astarion a better dagger. But now, here she was, captured and tortured.
"Never," Tav spat, defiant even in the face of her tormentor.
Cazador's grin widened. "We'll see about that, my dear. We have ways of making you talk."
He signaled to his spawn, Petras, and he poked at Tav's skin with a hot metal rod. She cried out in pain, her body bruised and bloodied. But she refused to say any information.
"You will never have Astarion again," Tav gasped, her voice weak from the beatings.
Cazador's smile turned into a scowl, and he grabbed Tav's chin roughly, forcing her face to meet his. "You wretched thing."
Cazador motioned for Petras to stop as he approached Tav, snatching the hot iron rod from Petras’s hand. Tav's eyes widened in terror as she realized what he was about to do.
"Please, no," she begged, tears streaming down her face.
But Cazador didn't listen. He pressed the hot iron against Tav's skin, causing her to scream in agony. The smell of burning flesh filled the dungeon.
"I will make you suffer until you give me what I want," Cazador growled, enjoying every moment of Tav's pain.
Tav's body shook with sobs as the torture continued. She thought of Astarion, their love, and their plans for the future. She refused to let Cazador break her, even if it meant her death.
"I said no, you bastard!," Tav cried, her voice hoarse from screaming.
Cazador continued to torture her, and Tav's thoughts became consumed with memories of Astarion. The way he looked at her with love, the cold touch of his lips on hers.
"I love you, Astarion," she whispered, tears streaming down her face.
But as the darkness of the dungeon consumed her, Tav feared she'd never see Astarion again.
~
Astarion's heart raced as he crept through the dark and musty corridors of the dungeon. His mind clashed between anger and guilt. Astarion feared that Tav was somewhere within these walls, shackled and tortured by Cazador.
When Astarion reached Tav's cell, he caught sight of her. Tav's face was pale and bruised. She was shirtless and barely conscious.
But even in this state, Tav was still the most beautiful creature he had ever laid eyes on.
His hands trembled as he quickly picked the lock, and with a loud click, the chains that bound Tav fell to the ground, and Astarion's heart swelled with relief and anger. He scooped her up in his arms, ignoring Tav's cries of pain from the bruises and cuts covering her body.
"Shh, my love. It's me," he whispered, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "I've come to take you away from this place."
Tav's tear-stained face looked up at him, and her eyes widened in surprise. "Astarion? How did you find me?"
Astarion fixated his eyes on Tav's face, the sight of her hurt gaze ached his dead heart. "I will always find you, no matter where they try to hide you." He pulled the shirt off his back and covered Tav's bare chest.
Carefully, Astarion carried Tav out of the dungeon, making sure to avoid any spawns or traps along the way. It was especially hard when Tav winced to every movement.
Astarion stealth his way out of the palace and went back to camp. He felt anger gnawing at his chest. He should have been there to protect Tav, But he had failed, and now Tav had suffered because of his shortcomings.
When they got back to camp, their companions rushed to their side, relieved to see Tav alive. Shadowheart, Wyll, Gale, and Karlach swarmed around Astarion.
"Get out of the way! She needs to rest!" Astarion snapped in a fit of anger. His emotions were pouring out in the worst possible way, and whoever was in the way needed to move.
Astarion gently settled Tav onto his bed, frowning at the sight of her bruised and battered body. She winced in pain as he placed her down, but he quickly reassured her, "I'll take care of you."
He grabbed a small bucket of water and a cloth, carefully cleaning the dried blood and dirt from her skin. Tav winced again, tears streaming down her face as he touched her injuries.
Gods this is all my fault. Astarion gritted his teeth from the sting of remorse.
"It's going to be alright," he whispered, his voice trembling. "I promise, I won't let anyone hurt you like this again."
Cazador will pay for this.
Tav weakly reached out to wipe away the tears that had fallen from his eyes, a small smile tugged on her chipped lips. "Don't cry, Astarion. You're here now, and that's all that matters."
He couldn't help but chuckle at her stubbornness, even in her injured state. "Your wit amazes me, my dear."
Astarion continued to clean and tend to her wounds, his hands gentle and careful than anything he'd ever touched in the past 200 years. Tav winced and hissed in pain, but she never once pulled away. She simply gripped his hand tightly as he worked, her eyes shut tightly.
Tav winced as he tended to a particularly deep cut on her arm. "It hurts," she whispered, tears forming in her eyes.
"I know, my dear," Astarion's eyes narrowed at her pain. "But I promise, I'll make it better."
After what seemed like hours, Astarion finally finished and leaned back, a satisfied look on his face. "There, all done."
Tav slowly opened her eyes and looked down at her now clean and bandaged skin. "Thank you..." The burn marks would scar her skin forever. It was something Tav looked past for her own sake.
"You are strong," he continued, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. "And I will do everything in my power to protect you and keep you safe from Cazador."
Tav reached up and cupped his cheek, she whispered. "I trust you.."
Astarion leaned down and pressed his lips against Tav's, pouring all of his emotions into the kiss. Tav pushed against his lips gently, while his hands held Tav's shoulders. When they pulled away Tav could see the desperation in his eyes and it was heartbreaking.
"Rest now, my dear. I'll be here when you wake up." And with that, Astarion stayed by Tav's side, watching over her as she drifted off to sleep.

CARETAKER- S. HARRINGTON
Steve Harrington x Sick! Reader
Summary : When Steve hears that you're sick and you've gone to work anyway, he comes to pick you up, take you home and put his nursing skills to the test. He loves taking care of you, but sometimes you make it difficult

Tags: Steve Harrington x Sick! Reader, just Fluff and Steve being the best nurse in the world and an overprotective boyfriend
Thanks again to @loving-and-dreaming for the amazing ideas!
For all the years Steve Harrington has known you - which are way too many to be honest- you've always been careless with your health. There's always something more important: homeworks and school projects first, monsters and fights then. Anyway being selfless is what you and Steve have in common, he understands you and he knows how to keep an eye on you without you noticing, cause you get mad everytime someone, and more specifically him, tries to take care of you.
"I don't need a babysitter Harrington, I am the babysitter."
So Steve has learned to understand the way your body react to pain and stress, when you close your eyes as you get up he knows your knee is giving you trouble and when you ask him to open something for you is because the arm you broke years ago in the Byers house, against the stupid demodog, still hurts when the weather changes. But you know Steve too and you care about him of course, he has been you neighbor since you have arrived in Hawkins, when you were just a child, he was just the spoiled kid from the biggest house in the city and now  he's your boyfriend and partner in crime. You bring him food when he says he's home alone cause you think he will let himself starve, not that he can't cook - to be fair he is really good at it- but he can be lazy sometimes and prefers stays on the chouch slowly dying. You always make sure he brings his jacket with him, cause his stupid brain won't understand the temperature outside can be very different from the one inside the house and he will get sick. Also you take him to the doctor, even against his will, everytime he gets hit on his head and stay with him the night to keep him awake when he has concussions. You're pretty good at this, making sure he always comes first. He is your priority and it infuriates him of course, 'cause Steve Harrington doesn't think he deserves any of this and you don't let him do the same for you. Which is why - against his own nature- he had became more observant in the first place.
But this time he misses it.
It's Max that tells him as she enters the Family Video holding hands with Lucas, cause they need a movie for their date night. "So uh, have you seen y/n this morning at all?" Something in the girl's voice makes him turn sharply and almost knocks over the pile of boxes he was tidying up. Almost, because Robin comes to avert disaster.
Truth is you've been working really hard lately, being a babysitter and also taking shifts at Enzo's during lunches and dinners you don't have time to really rest. Steve has been doing the same thing, working as much as he can so you can afford living together so no, he hasn't seen you this morning, he just left something to eat for breakfast outside your door before going to work.
"What's wrong with her? " He asks.
"Nothing's wrong!  She was just asking!" A not so calm Lucas replies. Max glares at him. "Lucas, just tell me what my stupid, stupid girlfriend has done this time."
"She hasn't done anything at all. It's that we saw her babysitting Holly Wheeler this morning and we noticed  she was coughing...a bit."  Max explains. Steve raises an eyebrow at that
"Okay, fine, a lot." Lucas confesses, this time Max nudges him. Steve shakes his head. "Stupid, stubborn foolish girl!" He mutters. Robin places a hand on his shoulder.
"You're overreacting dingus" But as if he hadn't even heard her, Steve continues. "Cover me Rob. I have to reach y/n and take her home, then I'll come back. I swear" He doesn't even wait for her answer. Steve runs away.
He finds you at Enzo ready for the lunch shift, trying to carry a big table on your own, face red from fatigue. He stops before he can call your nome and just observes you torturing yourself and gets to see you drop the table on the ground andlean on it, coughing violently. "Are going to kill yourself?" When you hears Steve's voice you turn around and the minute you see his face, you know you are in deep trouble. Sometimes he tend to get a little overprotective, treating you like one of his children.
"Hey! What are you doing here?" You aks, trying to see something different in his face than the judgmental expression of a mother ready to lecture you. He doesn't answer, simply approaches you and puts his hand on your forehead. You try to stifle another cough and shake him off, but end up leaning on your knees with your body shaking violently. Steve holds you, caressing your back gently. "Home! Now!" He orders, his tone sweet but still doesn't allow replies
"But I have to finish-"
"No you don't, I'll talk to Enzo. Now get in the car and turn on the heating." He takes you home quickly and even if you don't need it he carries you from the car to your own room, after making sure that no one is at home. "Where are your parents?"
"Dad has the long shift, he'll be back tonight. Mom's out of town" And so Steve calls Robin, to warn her that he won't be able to work the afternoon shift.
You feel your exhausted body sinking into the mattress, lighter than air, as your vision grows spotted. You feel sicker than ever, your head weighs as if you have stones inside and burns like hell but you feel cold, at the same time: fingers, legs, arms, torso, it's all frozen. You groan, rolling on your side and closing your eyes as you hear Steve's steps.
"Baby. I'm gonna die today. Remember I love you and my collection of VHS is yours" Steve smiles, sitting near you and putting a hand on your forehead.
"Oh love, how sweet of you" He replies,  "Why were you still working?" He asks with a slight tone of reproach. One of his hands slides up your neck and then your back, the other one brushes your hair away from your forehead, then lightly caresses one of your cheeks. He starts rubbing circles over your back and it feels like paradise. "We need money, you know my amazing boyfriend and I... we want to find a place of our own and he.. He is working so much, he is doing his best  for our future together. I want to do it too, if I could I'd even get three jobs. For him. For us. " You answer, smiling. Thank goodness you have your eyes closed and you're probably delirious with fever, otherwise you'd notice Steve's eyes watering and the little tear that escapes his control. Sometimes the way you love him  unconditionally, moves him. For someone who's not used to be anyone's priority, your love is overwhelming  and he doesn't know what he's done to deserve it. Steve's touches reminds you of your childhood, the way your dad used to take care of you, telling stories about monsters and children fighting the evil, but now these aren't just stories and kids aren't just kids and you don't like hearing stuff like that anymore. And your father doesn't take care of you like before, he doesn't do it out of malice, it's just his new job that takes him away from you for a long time and you know he is suffering too. You don't blame him, but you miss him. Luckily Steve is with you to ease the loneliness.
"Hang in there, love" Your boyfriend murmures softly in your ear, placing a kiss on your cheeks, continuing to rub your back tenderly. Hide behind his words you can feel his concern, he's overprotective as always. "You are burning up, I need you to take this baby" He passes you a pill and you shake your head The movement makes you nauseous and you don't want anything, you feel so tired and sore that you are afraid a single change around you could kill you.
"Let me here to die" you grumble dramatically.
"Then who will take care of me when I'm sick?" Steve jokes, smiling at you sweetly. The sentence makes you think, you open your eyes and look at him worried.
"What's up?"
"You have to stay away from me" You say, your teeth chattering in the cold as he adjusts the blanket around you better. "I'm not kidding, you could get sick too"
"Dont worry about me love, You just need to rest. " He tells you and in your feverish delirioum you hold his hands and you let go, falling into a deep sleep.
When you wake up an hour and a half later, Steve is in the same position, holding a hand on your forehead and watching over you like your guardian angel. You would like to tell him he shouldn't be here with you, but the truth is the feeling of being cared for is foreign enough to make you crave it in a way you didn't know you could. You cough again your poor lungs out, trying to cover your mouth so as not to contaminate Steve, then sneeze repeatedly. He shakes his head, handing you a glass of water and supporting your back so you can drink comfortably. "And you thought you could work like this? You should be more attentive to your health." "Ohhh Still with this story? Don't be exaggerated, I'm not that bad. Also I was fine before you came at Enzo's" You reply stubbornly, raising an arm to push him away with a huff.
"You were already burning up and you wouldn't even think to come to me. I'm not a good boyfriend? You don't trust me as a nurse? I'm an excellent nurse, that's my job" He has a harsh tone, he wants you to understand that you really have to take care of yourself, today is a fever, tomorrow something else. Steve would like you to be your priority not only his. "Why do you have to be so dramatic! It's just a cold."  Your voice has a strange tone, it's hoarse from the cough, vaguely funny. Steve smiles. He can't be mad at you especially as you disappear into the blanket, curled up on yourself, like a child in need of care. And no matter how much you deny it, you need him and he wants to be there. "Come on Steve seriously maybe there's a chance I didn't pass you my lousy germs. Save yourself. Go away. Think about you my love"
"No way, I need to keep an eye on you."
"Steven Harold Harrington, You're acting like I'm five."
"Don't use my full name on me y/n, also You've been acting like you're five all day." Then after a minute of silence. "How long has this been going on?" He asks more seriously, as you peek out from under the covers to make eye contact with him. You are not even interested in the fact that you are not as beautiful as you would like, that you have dirty hair, swollen red shiny eyes and a pale skin, his steady gaze on you is so full of adoration and devotion that you do not believe it is humanly possible for some eyes express so much love without saying a single word, without moving a muscle, in just one simple glance.
"It was just a sore throat yesterday. I only started coughing this morning and then I was cold, shivering a lot, but I didn't... I didn't want to take my temperature. If you don't know, you don't have to stay home from work" Steve shakes his head and remembers the last few days, he should have been more careful because it's clear you're lying now and it's clear that when you said you were tired in the past few days, you weren't just tired.
"Don't lie to me, I'm not stupid. I mean yes I am, but not that much. You must've been feeling bad for at least a few days." You avoid his look "I hate it when you do this" He whispers lying next to you.
"I haven't done anything. You're just overreacting because you love me too much"
"Please y/nyou are the one who underestimates everything. And yes, I love you too much and I would like to grow old with you, but if you continue to behave like an unconscious foolish child you will make me die of a heart attack at thirty and you will break my dreams"
You laugh. "You're a Drama Queen"
"No you don't understand, today is just the fever and yesterday were demogorgons and tomorrow who knows? You always do it, not taking care of yourself, it scares me"
You hold his hand and after a moment of silence, with all the sincerity, you reply.
"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry" You are interrupted by a cough. "I've never seen it this way. I've never thought about the impact my actions can have on you. I'm so selfish. "
"No, you are the opposite of selfish. But you are right about one thing I love you too much. And now I'm going to get you some iboprufen to take down the fever." He gets out of bed and places a kiss on your forehead. "I need my girlfriend to be okay"
"I hate meds" You whine and moan.
"You are just a little girl"
"Thanks, my hero." But before he can leave the room you call him. "Steve" He turns around, smiles and you think that you don't want anything more than this for your whole life. Steve Harrington and you, your house, you dreams. The everyday life that becomes extraordinary next to the right person. "I'm sorry I said you were overreacting." You state.
"I love you too, y/n."

Only Fools Fall in Love | Steddie Imagine
Tumblr media
Pairing: Steve Harrington & Eddie Munson Song Inspo: Andrew by Ben Platt Word Count: 2,574 Summary: Steve Harrington has a crush on Eddie Munson. Eddie Munson has a crush on Steve Harrington. Neither of them want to address it for various reasons. They're just two idiots in love. Warnings: angst, slowburn Masterlist: see fandoms (pc-friendly)
After defeating Vecna and barely escaping the upside down, Steve knew his life was never going to be the same again. He no longer had the pleasure of being blissfully unaware of the darkness that surrounded Hawkins. He knew about the creatures that lurked in the shadows. Knew how powerful they were and the amount of damage they had caused to their little town, how many lives were lost in the mix of creatures that were never supposed to exist.
They were supposed to be fiction, stories told to kids to keep them in their homes at certain times, to scare them into staying safe and not wondering into the forest alone at night. Unfortunately, those things were very real, too real for Steve's liking.
Some days he wished to be one of those dense high school kids who only cared about their reputation and didn't know what was happening in the world around them. He wished to be like the old Steve, the one who only cared about hooking up, parties and Nancy Wheeler. He loved her in a way he never thought he could love; she awakened something in him that he didn't know existed. Then she was ripped out of his life without even the slightest warning, she left him, she didn't love him. She said it was all bullshit. They were bullshit.
He knew now that she was right about it all, they were bullshit. Neither of them were ready or mature enough for a relationship, they were too different, too young and too foolish. Nancy was better with Jonathan, they had bonded over their trauma and Steve was jealous at first, but after seeing that massive smile on her face, he knew that she had exactly who she needed. It stung, seeing them together, they were everywhere he went, and he hated it. So, he went to parties and got piss drunk to forget and occasionally he stopped by that disgusting trailer park to buy from Eddie Munson.
Eddie "The Freak" Munson was the best dealer in town, he always had a fixed supply unlike some of the other idiots who couldn't keep up with the demand. Steve didn't necessarily like Eddie that much, he was too loud, too dramatic, too all over the place and too different. He was what Steve never could be, unapologetically different.
He never apologized for being who he was, he never cared what anyone thought or said about him. In fact, he played into it, he wore the term 'Freak' like a badge of honor and used it to scare off any potential threats. It worked most of the time, while people found him annoying, they never did anything to psychically stop him.
That irritated Steve even more. Eddie got away with being himself. Steve wished he could just exist without the fear of getting judged or trampled on. So, he worked his way up the high school ranks and became King Steve, someone everybody wanted to be or be with. None of it was true though, he was never a king. He was never any of the things they made him out to be, well except a douche. He was definitely a douche.
So now, two years after graduating high school, he had finally accepted that life was never going to be easy for him. He would never get to be his true self in front of everyone, he would never get to show the real Steve to all of Hawkins. He'd probably get beaten up or killed for it to be fair.
"Hey dingus" Robin's voice broke through his train of thought, "stop staring into space, we've got customers to attend to."
He shot her a glare before turning to the customer at the register who was returning some of the tapes she rented. His face softened when he saw the girl staring at him nervously.
"Sorry about that," he stated, "will you be renting anything else today, or just returning?"
The girl shrugged, twirling a piece of her blonde hair around her finger, "I haven't decided yet, I still have to have a look. Any suggestions?"
"Uh... Fire With Fire seems to be a hit right now, it's in the romance section"
"Are you into romance?" She asked in what he assumed was supposed to be a flirty voice.
He shrugged, "not really. I just watch whatever, but I've heard it's a good movie." He turned to Robin and smirked, "Rob and I are actually going to watch it together tonight."
A deep red blush covered the girl's cheeks at the thought of flirting with a taken man, "I'm so sorry, I have no idea."
Steve waved her off, "it's okay, happens to the best of us."
Robin scowled at him as the customer scurried away after deciding that she definitely wasn't going to rent Fire With Fire now. She thanked them and nearly ran out of the store.
"Really Steve. Using me as your repellant. Usually, you manage to get rid of the girls just be being yourself." she teased before going to the back and adding another strike under the 'You Suck' column.
Steve sat on the counter and watched her return from the break room, he wanted to tell her the truth, but he has been struggling to get the words out for the last year. It was scary being open like this, having someone know everything about you was terrifying and he didn't want it to change anything between them. She was his best friend and he loved her. He didn't want this stupid shit to come between them, he didn't want to lose the one person who understood him the best.
Losing Nancy was hard but losing Robin would probably kill him, she was his biggest support and he truly appreciated and cherished their friendship. What started out as a stupid crush on his coworker quickly turned into the most meaningful friendship he has ever had. The possibility of losing that scared him more than the monsters they faced over the last three years.
"Steve. Seriously what's up?" Robin spoke up again, a concerned look on her face, "you've been spacing out all day and you keep getting this look on your face that looks like you want to do something stupid and it's freaking me out. Are you okay? Is it Vecna? Is he still alive? Is it me? Oh god. Did I do something to make you hate me and now you want to quit your job and move away and never see me again. You've probably already packed to leave and now you're trying to think of a way to break it to m–"
"Robin, breathe. God. I'm not going anywhere" he cut her off, "I've just got a lot on my mind, and it doesn't have anything to do with Vecna or the upside down or any of that crazy shit. I'm just trying to figure out a few things."
She nodded "sorry. I got a little carried away."
They shared a laugh before going silent again, a comfortable air settling between them as they got back to work. It was a relatively quiet day in Family Video, so they didn't really do much and soon their shift came to an end and Steve got ready to lock up while Robin waited in his car.
"Hey Harrington, fancy seeing you here" he heard a familiar voice pipe up behind him.
"I work here Eddie" he said flatly.
Eddie tsked, "I'm well aware of that Stevie, I was just being courteous."
"Stevie?" He questioned.
He and Munson became kind of friends after the whole Upside Down incident. Watching Eddie nearly bleed to death made him realize that he came to like Eddie in the short time they spent together. He learnt a lot about the guy while running away from Vecna and the enraged townspeople who believed that Eddie was a satanic murderer.
The stakes were high but somehow Eddie always managed to inject humor into every situation to make it feel a lot less intense. He had a way of making people comfortable around him, of making them feel at ease. It was surprising yet welcomed at the time and watching him so close to death made the entire gang realize how much Eddie Munson truly meant to them.
He was one of them now, a part of the club, a trusted member. So, it wasn't weird for him to be here, speaking to Steve.
"Well Stevie, I figured since we escaped death together and kicked Vecna's tentacle ass we're basically friends now. There's nothing wrong with giving your friend a nickname now is there, Steve? "
Eddie had that wide eyed look on his face, the one that made Steve squirm in place, his stare was always intense. Steve felt as if he was staring into his soul, trying to unravel every dark secret locked up inside of him. Yet the casual smile on his face said the opposite, it contradicted his beady eyes in the best way possible. The perfect balance of intense and soft, which was exactly how Steve would describe Eddie.
He cleared his throat, trying his best to ignore the slight warmth in his cheeks, "uh. Sure. Yeah. Stevie... I like it"
Eddie chuckled at his flustered state, "I actually came by to invite you and Robin to a movie night at my place. Tomorrow at 7, don't be late Harrington."
Steve watched him walk off without waiting for a response, and while he tried to mill over everything Eddie said, he only managed to get stuck on the fact that Eddie referred to him as 'Harrington' again. He wasn't sure why it upset him that much, it was his surname after all, but after being called Stevie, hearing his last name out of Eddie's lips no longer sounded right.
He wanted to be called Stevie. He wanted Eddie to call him Stevie every day, because the way he said it made his stomach do the slightest flip. The way he drawled it out in that raspy voice of his, made it sound so much better than it would sound if anyone else said it. He wanted to be Eddie's Stevie.
That thought stumped him, because he had never thought of another guy like that. He never felt that happy to hear a guy give him a nickname. But to be fair, Eddie Munson wasn't just another guy. He was different. Special.
Tuesday came rolling around and Steve was on edge the entire day, he had hung out with Eddie before, but this somehow felt different. So much so that he was nervous and jittery the entire day and Robin teased him about it at every chance she got.
"It's just a movie, Steve, why are you freaking out?" She questioned, "We hung out with Eddie before, and you always enjoyed it. You know better than anyone else, that he's not what the town makes him out to be."
"I know that, Rob. That's not the issue, it's just different this time and I don't know how to explain it. Like it's been a year since all that crazy shit happened and I'm still adjusting to having Eddie around more."
"Do you not want to hang out with him anymore?" she moved around the store sorting tapes while they spoke.
"No!" he said louder than he meant to. "No... I like hanging out with Eddie, he's fun. It just feels different. I don't know how to explain it."
"Well, you have all the time in the world to figure it out. Now that the world isn't ending anymore you can think about whatever it is you're feeling and deal with it when you're ready."
He nodded; she was right. There was no rush to figure his stupid thoughts out, all he had to do was get through tonight. He was nervous for some reason and kept wondering who would be there, would Eddie have invited Nancy and Jonathan as well?
He didn't know if he wanted an answer to that question right now. Being unaware was a blessing in certain situations.
Steve stepped into Eddie's new trailer and settled down beside Robin, a smile plastered on his face as he turned to Nancy and Jonathan who were squeezed together on a love seat. The government helped clear Eddie's name and gave him and his uncle a brand-new trailer in a more reserved side of town. It was bigger and it was fully furnished so it quickly became their hang out when they wanted to escape reality for a bit.
Steve raised a brow at Robin when Vickie made her way into the trailer after them.
"Did you know she was coming?"
Robin leaned closer and whispered her response, "yeah. I invited her. Hope you don't mind?"
Steve shrugged, "of course I don't mind. I'm glad you finally upped your game, Rob." He teased.
"Shut up. You can't even get a date." She bit back, motioning for him to scoot over so Vickie could squeeze in the seat beside her.
Eddie came back into the room with beers for everyone and a few rolled up joints, he passed the beers around and sat next to Steve.
"Hope you don't mind our medicinal addition, it helps mellow us out a bit" he said to Vickie, a charming smile on his face.
Steve felt a tinge of jealousy shoot up within him when Vickie giggled and told him she didn't mind at all. It was stupid of him to get jealous over something that simple, but he managed to convince himself that he was only pissed because Eddie shouldn't be putting moves on Robin's date.
Eddie noticed the look on Steve's face, his brows all scrunched and the slightest pout to his lips. He looked adorable, like an angry kitten, Eddie wanted to kiss that stupid little pout away.
He always had a slight crush on Steve "The Hair" Harrington. Who didn't? Steve was hot, with his perfect hair, those big brown eyes, that amazingly toned body and that gorgeous smile that he flashed Eddie with whenever Eddie teased him too much. Steve was perfect and Eddie struggled daily to keep his feelings in check. He didn't want their blossoming friendship to fall apart simply because he couldn't keep it in his pants. Plus falling for straight men was a big no in the Munson doctrine so he had to stick to his rules and keep whatever playful banter they had going on extremely platonic.
Although a little teasing never hurt and seeing Steve blush was always worth it, so he leaned forward and whispered, "Is that jealousy I'm detecting? Wipe that pout off your face. Vickie's got nothing on you, big boy."
Steve felt his face heat up and bit back the smile that threatened to pull at his lips. His stomach did an entire back flip at the tone of Eddie's voice. The hairs on his neck stood up as his breath hit his skin. His entire body went rigid as the words big boy slipped out of Eddie's mouth again. This was the first time Eddie had said it since the upside down and somehow it felt more intense now, it felt different.
Eddie Munson would be the death of him and based off the smug smirk on his face, he definitely knew what he was doing.

Red Hot Dingus
I don't even know you and you have my skin burning, I am grinning over my screen like a jackass, my face is a red-beaming-mess of pure delight; Something internally developing.
This rise in temperature is dangerous, I tend to do dumbass impulse shit in these wonderful degrees; Burning me up so deliciously.
I am a hopeful daydreamer, who has the propensity to wander too far, always finding a way to get hurt as I climb up this captivating volcano behind my cage of ribs.
I would never dive in to this bubbling inferno, it's always so mesmerizingly tempting to do, leaping into these dangerous-gooey-waters of magma, the very thing that would burn me up into a brittle crisp, and yet I want to take a dip; Persuasion from the heart.
I am naive and fully entranced, I can not deny this flare radiating beneath my integument, I love this embarrassing flush that washes over me; Lightly painted in scarlet.
I refuse to jump in, untrusting of this goofy smile, or that my organs are even properly working, it would be idotically foolish to dance around in this reverie I've cooked up.
My skin blazes, overjoyed to converse with a random being, a possible trick who doesn't know me either; Excitement over a stranger.
And yet...all I want to do is continue to chat, for I am a doofus, desiring nothing more than to get to know you, an enticing-randy-weirdo of nerdiness.

I was 3 vidyas into a new YT channel when he dropped an absolute trash brained take that 2010's Tumblr, unlike the more prestigious 4-chan, New Grounds and Reddit was full of "fake nerd girls". Just a relic of Gamergate gatekeeping garbage.
Our femme progenitors did not circulate Spirk zines in the 60's for this. I guess I'M the dingus for thinking that shit was going away just cuz I'd wised up and wasn't paying attention.
I just can goddamn believe people are still peddling that trash. It's the same garbage energy that called Felicia Day a "booth bunny" cuz they didn't know she'd created a certified nerd, successful webseries with The Guild. Big Bang Theory might have ported nerd culture into the mainstream, but that absolutely included the misogyny.
I really shouldn't be surprised, I feel foolish for being optimistic that shit was eroding.

so I searched up what a dingus was
US slang : a dim-witted, silly, or foolish person. often used in a joking or friendly way. By most accounts, [Hunter] Strickland is actually a sweet feller. Respected by his teammates, nice to the fans, et cetera. But he sure is a dingus on the mound sometimes.
I’M SO SORRY I DIDNT MEAN IT AAAAAAA
ITS OKK

hi, i hope you're having a good day! i was wondering if you could write an eddie x reader fic based on the songs "endgame" or "delicate" by taylor swift?
i'm currently fixating on the reputation album and can't stop linking it to eddie so i just had to send in a request! please let me know if you are uninterested or uncomfy, thank you so much!
hey there, hope you're having a great day also and thank you for your request! jsksjs i'm literally obsessed with repuation and think it fits eddie perfectly omg! i based this fic more so on 'end game', but also gave it my own spin (hope you don't mind).
-
pairing: eddie munson x fem!reader word count: 2.3k warnings: mutual pining, adult language, jealousy, eddie being a dingus, use of pet names (sweetheart), slight emotional hurt, mentions of alcohol consumption - unedited - pls let me know if i missed anything!

This date has gone from bad to worse.
A casual walk around town and a trip to the arcade, (because boys in Hawkins can’t ever come up with anything original), didn’t sound like a bad plan at first. In hindsight, it’s probably because you were angry at the person you actually wanted to be going out with. At that point, anything would have been a good idea, simply out of spite.
You regretted saying yes now. You would rather be at home nursing your memories than entertaining this pity date. Especially because the extremely awkward conversation dotted throughout the evening made you want to bang your head against a wall. Jesus Christ, was this man boring. Your mom always warned you about people that peaked in high school, you should have listened.
Finally at The Hideout there is quiet — well, no, it’s just too noisy to hear what your companion is saying. You’ve never met anyone that liked talking more than your current date, as if air was running out sometime soon and he wanted to make the most of it. But, and you hated to admit it, he was pretty cute, which is one the main reasons you agreed to tonight — as bad as that is to say.
Not as cute as Eddie, you think and quickly scan your surroundings in hopes you would see his brown locks and this whole charade could end.
The bar is filled with buzz of drunken talk, loud and incoherent music, glass clatter, and a fog of smoke. Typical Tuesday night at The Hideout. Yet unfortunately, no sight of your metalhead.
“Passing requires accuracy,” your date switches to the topic of football tricks, you simply nod along. Partially because you can barely hear him over the electric guitar of the current song, primarily because you just don’t care.
“Because you know the player you are throwing to might have opposing players near him trying to block or intercept the ball…”
The rest of your date's words fade into the distance as he steps through the doors. Time stops.
Eddie ignores the people greeting him, instead his eyes instantly find yours like a magnet and he sizes you up from the other side of the room, sending a chill down your spine.
“Would you like another drink?”
The question brings you back from your short-lived trance. You look back at your date and smile sweetly before shaking your head, declining his offer. He nods and proceeds to order something for himself before beginning another ‘guess what’ story.
If you couldn’t focus before, you sure as hell were fucked now.
Swallowing thickly, you glance at the entrance once again. Eddie’s gaze is still burning into you, his eyes narrow. Your stomach churns and you feel your skin turn clammy. Fuck.
Not even a minute ago you wanted this. Now all of a sudden you feel sheepish about this whole situation. Foolish even. Foolish for thinking bringing some random guy from your community college to a place your ex-fling frequented would make said ex jealous. Jealous enough to admit he’s wrong.
Unbeknown to you, Eddie did feel jealousy coursing through his veins. His heart beating fast, eyes not leaving your frame for a second as he pushes through the crowd towards the side of the small stage.
“Hey, guys, how long has she been sitting there?” Eddie questions his fellow bandmates without averting his eyes from the bar.
The group exchanges knowing glances. Gareth clears his throat. “The last thirty minutes, I’d say.”
“Yeah,” Jeff chimes in, “about that.”
Eddie nods, then proceeds to ask, “And she’s been with him the entire time?”
“Eddie, come on—”
“Answer me.”
“Yes,” the band says simultaneously.
His jaw clenches.
You continue to feel his piercing eyes on you. Your leg starts to bounce and you’re thankful your date is good at being the oblivious jock, making a comment about the song playing as opposed to the overall aura of nervousness you were no doubt displaying.
And you feel terrible. Twisted. It’s horrible to admit you only saw your date as a means to an end. He definitely deserves better. Although, a certain part of you thinks it's his own fault for even asking you out in the first place considering your reputation.
All of Hawkins knew you were chasing after Eddie Munson ever since freshman year of high school. Always almost there, but thanks to the metalheads own insecurities, never quite enough.
“Can you excuse me for a minute? I need to use the bathroom,” you state and point to the toilet sign, just in case he didn’t hear you properly. “All this beer isn’t good for my small bladder.”
“Sure thing,” he replies and reaches for the plastic cup of peanuts, “but don’t be too long cause I think the band is about to start.”
You glance at the stage. More accurately at Eddie who, it appears, took a break from eyeing you to tune his guitar. (Or so you thought).
Chewing down on the inside of your cheek, and without saying anything else to your date, you make your way to the bathroom. Unfortunately, the minimal solitude you were hoping to experience falls through when you try to close the door behind you and a ring-clad hand appears, pushing it open.
Startled, you stumble backwards, allowing Eddie to step inside. He locks the two of you within and proceeds to smile. The grin is cheeky, annoying even, borderline smug.
“Don’t you think you should quit playing with other people’s feelings, sweetheart.”
His voice sends a tremble down your spine.
“Fuck off, Eddie.”
The metalhead chuckles under his nose. He runs a hand through his brown locks before reaching for your arm and pulling you towards him — unsurprisingly, there is little to no resistance from you.
Standing toe to toe, he slips one arm around your waist, his hand making home underneath your armpit, over the side of your rib cage. Just like that, your heart stops and your breath gets stuck in your throat.
Faking confidence, you manage to blurt out: “What do you want, Eddie?”
“I’ll be honest—”
“That’s a first,” you let the words slip out of your mouth, interrupting him.
Eddie doesn’t appreciate your comment. His eyes go dark and suddenly your back is pressed against the cold tile wall. No escape.
“As I was saying,” he continues casually, “I’m feeling quite jealous seeing you here with… whoever that guy is.”
(Aha. One step closer to victory.)
“Good. Serves you right.”
Eddie arches a brow. His eyes travel down to your lips and he can’t help but lick his own just thinking about how it would feel to kiss you right now. Phenomenal, no doubt. Things with you were always phenomenal.
“Look, sweetheart, that fight we had, that’s nothing,” he begins in a smooth tone, “Just a small tiff between two people that care deeply for one another. We can’t let it get in the way of what we have.”
You scoff. “And what exactly do we have, Eddie? Hmm?”, you challenge while huffing up your chest. The action, albeit small, causes Eddie to freeze momentarily because, Jesus — and he hated himself for even focusing on this right now — were your nipples hard?
“If I remember correctly, you said I needed to get a life and quit following you around like a lost puppy,” you continue, the anger in your tone causes the metalhead to loosen his hold on you as in all the time he’s known you, he’s never seen you this upset.
“So I did what you told me, Eddie. I found myself a date who thinks I’m hot, smart, funny, and not just there for his entertainment. Maybe if you weren’t such a fucking asshole all the damn time, you’d also find someone.”
“I do have someone like that,” he states quite harshly and you roll your eyes. Was he for real right now?
“Then what the fuck are we doing here, Eddie? Go be with that person and leave me the fuck alone,” your voice brakes meekly during at the end and you are fighting every fibre of your being not to cry. “I really don’t need this bullshit right now.”
Before Eddie can react or respond, you free yourself from his grasp and exit the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind you.
“Fuck,” he groans.
He runs a hand through his hair, frustrated. He then follows you outside, although because of his delayed reaction, you’re back at the bar with your date and his heart sinks. He’s such a fucking idiot.
He returns to his bandmates who, judging by the displeased look on his face, knew better than to ask what just happened. They scramble onto the small stage and even though the last thing Eddie wants to do now was perform, he picks up his guitar and approaches the mic.
The second his voice booms throughout the venue, you tense and hastily order another drink. With the cold beverage in hand, you adjust in your seat to face the stage, although you refuse to look at him because it would only hurt that much more.
It was stupid to think coming here tonight was close to being a good idea. You may have made him a little bit jealous but it didn’t matter. Not when he had someone in his life that was everything you ever hoped to be.
“Shit, they're so good,” your date exclaims and all you can do is nod.
The set drags — at least for you. When it finally ends, the crowd erupts in a roar of cheers, including the guy you were with. You clap slowly while standing up on your feet, eager to get out of here.
Sliding a hand down your date’s arm to grab his attention, you can feel someone else’s gaze burning into you and your stomach flips. So you muster a smile as your date looks at you, pushing any agitating feelings down.
“Think I’m ready to call it a night,” you say honestly.
“Sure thing, darling.”
He follows you out obediently and you’re grateful, he really is such a nice guy. Maybe this evening wasn’t so bad. Maybe something good came out of it.
The cool air is soothing. For a brief moment, you’re able to relax.
“I had a really good time tonight,” your date exclaims, sliding his hands into the pockets of his jacket.
“Me too,” you respond. A small white lie.
“Maybe I can call you tomorrow? We can do this again sometime?”
“Sure thing.”
He chuckles. “That’s my catchphrase.”
You crack a genuine smile. “Well, it’s a good catchphrase.”
There is a brief moment of silence. People are slowly starting to trickle out of the bar and you’re back to feeling nervous. You didn’t want to see Eddie again. Not tonight.
“I’m only down the road so I can walk, are you okay to get home?”
“Yeah, but will you be okay by yourself? Wouldn’t want some creep following you or something.”
(No we wouldn’t.)
“I’ll be okay. I promise.”
He’s hesitant but nods eventually.
“Goodnight then, darling.”
“Goodnight.”
You like that he’s respectful and doesn’t try to hug or kiss you. Instead, he waves and you watch him walk away. The second he’s out of sight, you rummage through your handbag to retrieve a packet of cigarettes. Smoking relaxed you. And fuck did you need it right now.
Exhaling, you begin to walk in the direction of your home. Though, once again, your solitude is short lived.
“It’s not fucking bullshit!”
A voice you recognise as Eddie’s bellows and you turn on your heel to face him. In the space of a single heartbeat, the metalhead is standing in front of you. He takes the cigarette from your hand, throwing it to the ground.
“I was enjoying that,” you mutter unimpressed.
Eddie ignores you, taking your hands in his before repeating, “It’s not fucking bullshit, okay?”
The curious glimmer in your eyes mixed with the sadness he no doubt caused is all the encouragement he needs to utter this next part.
“You’re that someone, okay? You are it for me. There’s no one else.”
His words ring in your ears. But he doesn’t give you enough time to process because he continues, “Fuck, sweetheart, it really pains me to see you with someone that is not me. And I know what I said that night, I remember every horrendous detail, but you gotta believe when I say I didn't mean it. I just fucking panicked when you told me how you really felt about me.”
Eddie sighs. You’re frozen as his hands move to cup your face.
“If anything, these last few days away from you made me realise that even though I told you to move on, I can’t let you go. It’s like your hand is printed on my fucking soul or something.”
“Eddie,” you’re not sure what you’re about to utter next. Which is why you feel quite grateful he places his thumb across your mouth, stopping you.
“I fucking…” Eddie takes a deep breath and presses his forehead to yours, “...I fucking love you.”
Eddie’s gaze travels to your lips. It’s an unspoken plea which you answer by grabbing onto the collar of his t-shirt. Within a split-second, he closes the gap between you.
The kiss does not feel the same as any of the previous ones you shared. This kiss is passionate. It further ignites a certain spark with every breathing moment your lips are connected. It feels like a promise, that he really does love you. It’s real. He’s real. This is real.
Slowly, and quite reluctantly, Eddie pulls away. There is a smile spread across his face from cheek to cheek, an expression you can’t help but return.
“I fucking love you too, Eddie.”

The end of this Skype meeting from hell was rapidly approaching, and Shiro was so close to relief he could taste it.
The team was attempting alliance negotiations with a new planet, but the entire planet was so incredibly toxic to Alteans that they felt it may be best to just have their meeting over a video communications link. Was it as shitty quality as a Skype call? God, no. The quality was incredible, Shiro could probably count every visible pore on the Queen’s face. But the plastic smiles and unbearable tension known of office-style Skype calls were evident, so Shiro was going to continue calling it a Skype in his head. The ‘from hell’ part of the description was due to the discomfort crawling up everyone’s throat — this Queen in particular was known to be temperamental and easy to offend, so everyone was walking on eggshells.
“Well, I believe that everything is in order,” said the Queen. Finally.
Some of the tension bled from Allura’s shoulders, and her smile turned genuine.
“Excellent! I’ll send you the forms —”
“One last thing,” interrupted the Queen. Allura’s smile froze, and her eye twitched. There was quite possibly nothing she hated more than being interrupted, and there wasn’t even anything she could do about it.
“Of course,” Allura replied through gritted teeth.
“Wonderful,” went the Queen, equally as passive aggressive.
Not for the first time, Shiro wished Adam was here. He was the master of passive aggression. He would have this bitch beat in minutes.
“Paladin Hunk,” continued the Queen, turning her gaze on the Yellow Paladin, who jumped slightly upon being called so abruptly but schooled his expression into a pleasant one.
“Yes, Your Majesty?”
“I’ve heard you are quite the culinary master. Many of my people had the pleasure of tasting your food at Vrepit Sal’s, and have spoken endlessly of how you turned his food from failed embarrassments to pure edible pleasure.”
Hunk smiled, clearly pleased that his efforts were so widely recognized. Some of the wariness lifted from his features. “That’s very kind of them to say.”
The Queen nodded. “Yes. I figured since you are so knowledgeable, you may be able to help me with a problem of mine. My —” her lip curled — “stepson has insisted that we each take turns cooking ‘family’ dinners ourselves instead of hiring a cook. I can’t fathom why the foolish child would ever want such a thing, but my husband insists we indulge him, and I’ve never had to bother with such petty tasks myself before, so my first attempt was a disaster,” she huffs, shaking her head. “I had to force the ingrate to eat it because he insisted on me making it, but he complained the whole time it was too salty. And so my question for you: how can I fix a dish when it is too salty?”
Hunk’s face had completely soured, and his wasn’t the only one. Hearing this already entitled and rude Queen speak so horribly about her young stepson was hard to hear, and made it very difficult to want to help her or her planet.
Hunk paused before answering, face flat and judgemental. “Start over,” he said drily.
Shiro choked. The Queen’s — now furious — face whipped towards him, and Shiro clapped a hand in front of his mouth.
Fuck fuck fuck. Think of unfunny things. Uh, Iverson’s constant stories of his summer in Italy when he was 14. Nuclear physics. Literally anything but the sound of Lance losing his shit or you’re going to lose it too. You have a reputation, dingus, please please focus.
With the strength of a thousand suns, Shiro managed to choke down his laughter, despite the shaking shoulders and rapidly reddening faces of the rest of the team.
“So sorry about that,” Shiro said, voice shaking. “Tickle, in my throat. Ahem. Shall we send you the forms?”
The Queen glared at them, taking a moment to glare at Hunk specifically. He looked entirely unbothered, pretending to check his nails. Lance was a mess of desperately held-in giggles on the floor next to him. Keith was turning purple with the attempt to keep his mouth shut. Pidge had completely given up and turned so her back faced the Queen, fist shoved in her mouth.
“Fine,” the Queen spat. “I’ve tired of Voltron’s blatant disregard for professionalism, anyway. And to think the maturity and grace of that Black Paladin is talked about at every interplanetary gala. Phooey. Send the forms to my handmaidens.”
The Skype ended.
There was a beat of silence.
Shiro glanced at Allura. Their eyes met for one half second.
Shiro lost it. Completely bent over at the waist, wheezing, barely able to breathe. Over the sound of his own laughter he heard Allura giggling as well, along with the rest of the team. Hunk surveyed them all, smirking like the cat that got the cream.
Shiro doesn’t know what he’s gonna do with these damn kids.

The thing about shifting into a wolf was that keeping any coherent thoughts was absolute hell to do, especially when you had only been a wolf for three whole weeks. Thinking he could somehow sneak into town without being seen was foolish to even consider.
That still didn't stop Steve.
Dustin. Robin. Nancy. Billy.
Names repeating in his brain that made absolutely no sense to a wolf who couldn't understand abstract concepts. But they were important. He could feel it under his skin, like an itch that he couldn't scratch. How he would find them, he wasn't sure, but he would.
And that's how he ends up climbing clumsily into the open window that leads to Dustin's room, making a racket as he topples over half a dozen action figures that were settled on the dresser. His claws clack sharply against the hardwood floors, nose twitching curiously at all the scents that fill the room.
A sudden movement out of the corner of his eye has him turning his head to the side, finding himself at the foot of a raised structure that he vaguely remembers is meant to be den. On it, a human child holds a complicated plastic...thing, pointing it directly at him. He smells of curiosity and fear but under it, all is a scent so familiar that it makes the wolf's chest ache with emotions he can't name, a soft confused whine escaping him.
The child tilts its head at the sound, curiosity seemingly winning over his fear as he crawls closer to the edge of the raised platform, eyes locking on the wolf- No. On Steve.
That single moment of clarity is all Steve needs to trigger back the change, skin morphing and bones cracking, as his body protests with the pain of forcing him back into a form resembling something human. At last, there's no wolf, just a very naked teenager sitting in the middle of Dustin's room with a nerf gun pointed at him.
"Steve?!" He flinches despite Dustin's voice being no louder than a whisper. A cold breeze streams through the open window, making him shiver and reminding him that he's still very much naked.
"Look, I promise I will explain just-" Steve flushes, fumbling with the necklace on his neck until it spits out the change of clothes he had saved in there. "Let me get dressed because this is awfully embarrassing."
"I uh- sure?" And it's clear by Dustin’s tone of voice that he's choking on a laugh but he does cover his eyes to give Steve some privacy.
It doesn't take long before he's fully dressed, sitting on the corner of Dustin's bed while his friend stares at him with eyes filled with curiosity and accusation. Steve cannot blame him. For all everyone knew he could've been dead no matter what the note he left behind said.
"So you're a werewolf." Not a question but he nods, feeling uncomfortable as he remembers Hopper saying he couldn't tell anyone else for the safety of not only himself but the pack.
"You weren't supposed to find out about that but it's hard keeping human thoughts while I remain a wolf." Dustin has that look on his face that Steve knows means he wants to ask more questions but is refraining himself from doing so. It makes him smile at the familiarity of it all. "I'm not actually supposed to be here, in fact."
"Why? Did you get kidnapped by a werewolf cult or something? Is that why you left?"
Steve snorts, shaking his head quickly. "No, no. Nothing like that. It's just for safety, y'know? Monster hunters are common in small towns like this according to Da- according to Hopper."
His slip up makes Dustin quirk an eyebrow.
"Were you just about to call Hopper, Dad?"
"Look-" But before he could start explaining, the younger boy interrupted him again.
"Wait, you said Monster hunters not Werewolf hunters. Does that mean other creatures are real? Like Fae, and Tieflings, and Vampires? Is Dracula real? Is Mothman real?" He's firing questions with the swiftness of a TV host, Steve immediately putting hands on his shoulders to slow him down.
"Slow down, dingus." He teases, the old nickname making Dustin roll his eyes. "I'm not really supposed to be saying any of this but I guess since you've already seen me..."
"C'mon Steve, tell me at least a little! Please?" And Dustin's known Steve for long enough that he's aware the guy is absolutely weak when it comes to puppy eyes.
He sighs, running a hand through his face before caving in. As long as he doesn't mention names, it should be fine. Probably.
Dustin is absolutely beaming with all the new information, a hundred questions waiting to be voiced on his lips but suddenly his expression falls, brows furrowing and teeth worrying his bottom lip. He's avoiding Steve's gaze and his scent stinks of sadness.
"Hey, what's the matter? I thought you would be excited to know Mothman might be real?" He's still saying nothing and Steve is starting to grow worried. Did he do something wrong?
"This means you aren't coming back...right?" It's barely above a whisper but Steve's hearing is so sharp that he has no trouble hearing him. Inside his chest, his heart clenches painfully.
When he shakes his head and Dustin's gaze falls to his lap, Steve feels like his body is being filled with lead.
"I still have my phone with me, and I might be able to visit in the future but... No. I'm not coming back, Dustin." Grief bubbles in his chest, choking him up and making his eyes burn with the tears he wants to shed but refuses to.
Dustin tackles him into a hug, squeezing him so hard that it hurts but Steve doesn't mind, hugging him back just as tightly. If either of them cries they don't bother mentioning it.
It's not important after all.
------
Dawn shines pink and orange over the horizon when he makes it back to the ranch, exhausted to his bones.
Hopper is waiting for him in the kitchen when he steps in and Steve is not surprised. The older werewolf had the uncanny ability to know when any of them were getting into trouble, after all. So all Steve does is hang his head, feeling the weight of Hopper's gaze on him.
"Sit." He says, and his voice doesn't give anything away. So Steve sits and waits for the reprimanding he's so sure will come.
Except it doesn't.
"You have been crying. Are you hurt?" Hopper is truly concerned it seems, his voice firm but not too loud. Is enough to bring the tears back to Steve's eyes, a broken sob leaving him as he hides his head in his hands. And all the older man does is rub his back comfortingly until his sobs have been reduced to occasional sniffles. Only then does he speak again.
"Feeling better?" Steve nods, once, before stopping and shaking his head. Evan chuckles, his gruff voice is oddly comforting. "Ah, here I was thinking you had been taking all these changes a little too well."
"I'm used to rolling with the punches." Steve tries offering him a smile but it comes out looking more like a grimace so he ends up giving it up altogether. He hates how true that statement is but Hopper understands.
(Somehow, he always understands when it comes to Steve's parents.)
They are both quiet after that, the silence comforting were it not for the way Steve's stomach roiled with his guilt. He had to say something, apologize, or the shame would eat him alive.
"Look, I'm... I'm sorry I went out to town without telling anyone but it's just- I was homesick, and I missed my friends so much, and I basically left without giving Dustin an expl-" He's babbling out of nervousness, excuses spooling out of him like worn thread but he pauses once Hopper settles a heavy hand on his shoulder. Big hands. Hands capable of drawing the softest of portraits with as much ease as they could choke out a buck.
"I'm not mad, pup." Steve has to bite his cheek at that to stop his eyes from filling up with tears again over something so silly as a word. "Kinda expected you to eventually do it. Had Joyce’s familiar follow you last night just to make sure you would be okay."
Steve thinks he should feel offended by that last bit of information but he honestly cannot give a fuck when he's basically swimming in the relief that courses through him at Hopper’s words. He knows and he isn't mad. Knows and doesn't blame him for showing weakness.
(Knows and still loves him.)
Hopper smiles, barely an upturn of his lips but it's there and his words are soft when he says, "Go to bed, pup."
Steve does.
And for the first time in a while, he doesn't dream at all.

US slang : a dim-witted, silly, or foolish person. often used in a joking or friendly way. By most accounts, [Hunter] Strickland is actually a sweet feller. Respected by his teammates, nice to the fans, et cetera. But he sure is a dingus on the mound sometimes.
I MEANT THIS AS A JOKE IM SORRY AAAAAAAA
