Hehehe, time for me to open Pandora's box for this one...

I gasped out loud when I read this prompt, because over this past month I've been obsessed with flower symbolism. I bought myself a book on Victorian flower language after falling down a research rabbit hole and have been slowly teaching myself all of the different meanings. Because of this, flower symbolism actually ends up playing a minor role in Agent Ace, so this question is especially appropriate (go figure)! So, thank you for giving me an excuse to think about it even more! :)

Of course, it was impossible to choose just one flower for each OC, so everyone gets a bouquet! I also may have gotten a lil' carried away with how many characters I included in this post... my five primary OCs plus three minor OCs (all from Agent Ace). DC OC | Reading List Pt.2

Sophia Evangelista | Angeknight

Angeknight: Between Heaven and Hell - Sophia's debut series that follows her and her team the Sun Angels on their mission to destroy the Fallen Angel Ophiel and her legion of darkness.

Pandora - Major supporting character. Elyon is both Sophia's ward and sidekick before being handed off to the newest Teen Titans.

Sol - Sophia is also a major supporting character in Solana's solo series as her mentor.

Angeknight: Schism - The longest series of Sophia's publication history at over 100 volumes long. Schism follows Sophia having to deal with splitting factions of Angels in Heaven, major changes in her work and personal lives, and learning secrets about her family.

Kids like you never truly had a chance. Born to an absent father and a criminal mother, you were thrown into the foster system before you even learned how to walk. Your childhood days were spent meeting potential parents and trying to win their hearts, but each time, you always fell short. You were too tough, too blunt, too much for these prospective parents to wrap their heads around, and with each rejection, the noose of abandonment tightened around your neck.

Eventually, you gave up your pursuit of a family. You accepted that these parents wanted little dolls they could morph into their ideal child, and you would never be able to fit that mold. The knowledge of your unwantedness stung, but you told yourself it was better this way. After all, the fewer people around, the less likely you are to disappoint them. With your current situation, you needed to impress no one but yourself.

Of course, you couldn't truly be on your own until after you turned eighteen. You were forced to move in with a foster family in the meantime, but unlike the picture-perfect families you watched growing up, this family showed the dark side hidden behind glassy eyes and hollow smiles. The beginning was fine--- a little awkward, but you made it clear you weren't going to branch out of your shell to befriend these strangers. It wasn't until a month into the arrangement that you began to feel the impact of the family dynamics. It began with little things, such as watching the parents fight the moment the other children went to bed, and it ended with flames and the knowledge that, no matter what happens, you'll always end up alone in the end.

You didn't mean to take it that far. You meant to just light a piece of paper on fire and let the smoke distract your foster parents long enough for you to steal a car and sneak away from the house, but you hadn't realized just how quickly a fire can spread. You watched as the flames ate away at the home and the family residing inside, and though you tried to go back and save your foster siblings from this tragic fate, you were left with nothing but despair and burns along your arms.

You curled up against the road, determined to let the guilt destroy you like you destroyed the house, but the sound of police sirens brought you back to reality. You realized that you had four people's deaths on your hands, and that meant either running away or accepting life in prison. Of course, you chose to run away.

You somehow managed to hitchhike your way to New York when you were barely eighteen. You had no job experience, no family, and no money, but moving was better than being caught by the cops.

You wound up living on the streets for years, bouncing from one shelter to another, attempting to work enough odd jobs to feed yourself. When you got a decent amount of money from one of your gigs, you found yourself getting a membership at Ralph's boxing gym. You knew gyms had showers and a way to blow off steam, so it seemed like the perfect investment for you. You never expected to be recruited into the underground fighting ring, but when the opportunity presented itself to you, you could do nothing but ask when the first match would be.

Your performances at the fighting ring must've caught the eye of the White Crocodiles, the true owners of the gym, for they offered you an associate spot within their organization. You never wanted a life of crime, never wanted to follow in your birth mother's footsteps, but the fear of being punished for your teenage actions led you to accept the offer.

Perhaps it's better this way. You, who treated loneliness as a death sentence, now have an opportunity to be "adopted" into the family of your childhood dreams. It didn't matter that they were criminals, or the fact that you had grown to like your solitary lifestyle. This is the hand fate dealt you, and all you can do is grasp onto it and try not to lose it to the flames too.

Okay, I'll write a somewhat coherent thingy of the Jade single parent au.

Jade got pregnant at 17

She moved to Texas to live with her grandparents (mom's side)

When she gave birth to a baby girl, she named her Abigail Elizabeth Sophia West

At 19 she moved to New York to move in with her father's younger brother, Jamison David West, he goes by James

20 she got her own house with James's help

21 when Cat finds Jade and Abby going on a walk

When Cat finds them, she immediately says hi to Jade and asks who the little girl with her is. Before Jade can answer, Abby proudly yells that Jade is her mommy. Cat goes wide eyed and asks who the father is, Jade is a little nervous and tries to dodge the question, but Cat manages to get it out of her.

Cat slowly gets frustrated with Jade and keeps asking if Tori knows, when Jade says no, Cat threatens to tell Tori if Jade doesn't first. Jade argues with Cat for minutes and tries to keep Abby from hearing by sending her to the playground close by. Each time she looks over at Abby playing, Abby gives her a big smile and waves.

Jade waves and continues to argue with Cat, but eventually gives up and asks for Tori's number. She tells Cat she will text Tori later when they get back to the house, so Cat demands for Jade to take her. Jade is hesitant but obliges and calls Abby over so they can leave. Abby holds Jade and Cat's hands and starts telling Cat all about her day.

Abby is super hyper and an active kid, she just is constantly moving and talking, so the whole walk she is talking with Cat while Jade is trying to keep her from running into the road. When they get to the house, Jade leaves Abby and Cat in the living room so she can text Tori. It's 2PM, so Tori gets her text at 11AM since she's in California.

Jade tells her the story and Tori ends up taking a plane with Trina to New York. Cat ends up going to the hotel she was staying at and takes her stuff back to Jade's, she stays there overnight. The next morning Jade makes Cat stay with Abby so she can pick up Trina and Tori. Cat doesn't mind and ends up building a giant fort in the living room.

When Jade picks the two up at the airport, Trina is very hostile while Tori just wants answers to her questions. Jade tries explaining more, but every other sentence Trina scoffs or makes a rude remark. Tori tries to shush her, but it keeps on. Jade and Trina almost get into a fist fight while she's driving.

When they get to the house and go inside, Jade goes into panic mode when she smells smoke, she runs to the kitchen to find Cat trying to put out a small fire in the oven. Abby is standing on the kitchen island with her favorite stuffed animal in her arms, telling her "Mommy doesn't cook like this."

Jade moves Cat out of the way and puts the fire out, then goes to open windows. Cat takes Abby and holds her while looking over at Tori and Trina, who are freaked out. Cat just smiles and says hi while Jade tries to get her kitchen under control. Jade takes Abby from Cat and looks at Tori, motioning for her to walk over.

Cat and Trina leave the kitchen and start cleaning up all the toys that were scattered around the living room. Jade introduces Abby and Tori, Abby is a little nervous at first, but eventually smiles wide and tells her that they have the same hair color. Jade smiles and sets her down so Abby can introduce Tori to her stuffed animals.

Jade is on edge and not 100% trusting, so she follows Tori and Abby around. Abby shows Tori her room and tells her all about her stuffed animals, how Mr. Yellow, her stuffed animal rabbit was her favorite. Tori is trying to memorize all the names, but there are too many for her to keep count. Jade tells her "sometimes Abby forgets their names"

Jade keeps a list of the stuffed animals, their names, what type of stuffed animal, she also has a replica of almost all of them so if something goes wrong or if she has to wash one, she has another for Abby. Abby doesn't know, and so she just thinks Mr. Yellow is magic and never gets dirty or hurt.

NYC Study Tour 11/7: Accents by Sophia Inc.

This week, my classmates had the opportunity to visit Accents by Sophia Inc., a jewelry wholesaler specializing in precious and semi-precious gems, pearls. Run by Sophia So, the company offers a stunning assortment of jewelry that features exquisite jade and pearls, catering to both luxury retailers and individual clients. While I unfortunately couldn’t attend the visit due to illness, my peers shared incredible insights from the experience that I’m excited to reflect on.

Sophia’s passion for her craft was a central theme throughout her talk. She emphasized how fulfilling it is to follow your dreams and pursue what you truly love, no matter how challenging it may seem. From what my classmates relayed, Sophia’s journey in the jewelry business is a testament to the power of dedication and the rewards of turning a passion into a successful career. Her deep knowledge of gemstones and the art of jewelry-making, along with her clear commitment to quality, resonated strongly with everyone.

Blog Post #10: Accents by Sophia (Fifth Ave Woman Inc.)

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, my Study Experience for NYC Fashion Students course had the unique opportunity to visit Accents by Sophia (Fifth Ave Woman Inc.), a jewelry wholesaler on Fifth Avenue. This business, operated by Sophia herself, supplies a wide range of high-quality jewelry to numerous department stores, including Lord & Taylor. Her collection is distinguished by its use of genuine precious and semi-precious stones, from jade and freshwater pearls to marcasite, as well as an impressive selection of sterling silver pieces. This hands-on visit gave us a close-up look at how a niche wholesaler collaborates with major retailers, manages seasonal inventory cycles, and prioritizes quality in every piece.

Sophia shared valuable insights into the logistics of her business, including how she prepares for peak selling seasons. She noted that the holiday season is the most profitable for her department store clients, which requires her to coordinate orders and secure inventory well in advance. Sophia explained that she meets with buyers a few months prior to this season, allowing the stores to carefully select from her collections and prepare for their highest sales periods. Additionally, she discussed her sourcing process, relying on trusted vendors across Asia known for their expertise in cutting and manufacturing gemstones. She even allowed us to shop her inventory, which was a special experience—finding some unique gifts for family members and even a few pieces for myself made this visit all the more memorable.

This visit provided an insightful look into the inner workings of a jewelry wholesaler and how Sophia’s business collaborates with manufacturers and major retail clients. Given my experience interning at a clothing wholesaler, observing the differences between wholesaling in the jewelry and apparel sectors was interesting. Throughout the experience, Sophia’s warmth and genuine enthusiasm for her craft left a lasting impression. She generously shared her knowledge and advice, hoping to inspire us on our career journeys in the fashion industry.

But her homecoming takes an unexpected turn when she hears a stranger's voice in her head on the train, and after receiving more disturbing news from her best friend, she realizes that Harmont has changed in her absence, marking the beginning of her troubles.

Chapter 3 || SOPHIA —‌Sophia and Jet reunite, now imprisoned as hostages of the vigilantes. While Sophia begins to plot their escape, Jet reveals the cryptic information he has gained on their new enemy.

Chapter 4 || HARLEY —‌In light of her conversation with Jade, Harley discovers that a rogue vigilante has recently gained notoriety for a number of violent crimes done in the aftermath of Max's disappearance. Worse still, she learns that Sophia, her sister and the Watch agent assigned to track down the vigilante, has become unresponsive in the field.

Chapter 5 || SOPHIA —‌Sophia has a visitor who offers her an explanation, but at a price.

Chapter 6 || HARLEY -1- —‌Harley receives an urgent phone call from Sophia early in the morning. Her warning stirs her to action, but nothing could prepare her for what she would encounter once she stepped foot out of the house.

Chapter 7 || HARLEY -2- —‌Now caught in the fray, Harley is questioned about the incident at Jade's apartment. While she attempts to clear herself of any involvement in the crime, she comes to a realization with horrifying implications.

Chapter 8 || SOPHIA -1- —‌After giving in to Mulciber's threat, Sophia meets a familiar face that is just as eager to escape the vigilantes as she is.

Chapter 9 || SOPHIA -2- —‌If Sophia and Max hope to make it out of the vigilante complex alive, they'll need to take a leap of faith.

Chapter 10 || HARLEY —‌Jade is cleared from the medical ward, returning home three days after Harley's interrogation. Harley pays her a visit and discovers that Jade has a surprise waiting in store.

Chapter 11 || SOPHIA —‌Following their rescue by the Guard, Sophia and Max are placed under the Watch's care. Two days later, Sophia has a private meeting with the director of the Watch, but little does she know that she is unprepared for what he has to say.

I mix it up. In some threads, there is canon compliance, and in some threads, there is complete canon divergence. It just depends on the verse/plot/partner.

Andrea Harrison - The whole episode for Prey. It was so suspenseful and heartbreaking. Beth Greene - When Beth and Maggie are speaking through the door, and Beth tells Maggie that they all have jobs to do. Carol Peletier - When Carol is caught by the Saviors after running away from Alexandria, and they have a confrontation and she takes them out. Her acting in that scene is just amazing. Daryl Dixon - Daryl finds Merle and has to put him down. Rick Grimes - When Rick comes to the quarry and finds Lori and Carl. Shane Walsh - The scene outside the barn when Shane opens the door and lets all of Hershel's friends and family out as walkers, and they're all put down. Sophia Peletier - Sophia being chased from the highway by the walkers.

I used to go to church every week when I was a teenager. Then something happened within the church and it left me jaded. Then my husband started going to church several years ago where his brother was going to start preaching, so after a bit, I started to go with him. Then I got really tired of being told that the Bible says I'm a second-class citizen and couldn't lead a song or say a scripture in church on Song and Scripture Sundays (which were every second Sunday in each month). That women aren't supposed to have authority over a man. That's how his church believes. It was a sore spot for the two of us until I got him to understand that it's not how I was taught in the church where I used to go, and that I don't agree with it. So now I just don't go. And honestly, I'm not sure what I believe anymore. With the state of the world, I'm inclined to believe that there is no higher power. But I don't know.

Fifth Avenue Woman

Anna Sophia runs her self owned jewelry business on the 2nd floor of West 35th Street. She opened her little shop to our class. We saw many different semi precious stones such as Jade and Hematite as well as perils and sterling silver jewelry.

The woman behind the business Anna Sophia, explained how she works with several different buyers to retail her jewelry. She has her factory in Thailand and sources her different stones and silver in Thailand as well. Anna Sophia also offered the class some wisdom about life explaining her background in computer science to how she followed her passion in jewelry making.
