You asked for fav clothes - I just found this 100% cotton traditional skirt (southern German /austrian Trachten) for 7 euros. It even has a pocket and fits perfectly and I just think that's sooo cool

Wow that's gorgeous!
I've been looking into Dutch folkwear this year and it's wonderful to see where we're fashion neighbours too! that fabric is amazing, what a lucky find!
Thank you so much for showing it to me!

Finally finished the chemise. I doubt I’ll even put the string in the neckline. I made it out of linen. I did make a couple mistakes like sewing one arm ruffle wrong side out but whatever. Now I can sit around feeling all fancy watching tv
Pattern folkwear 223 a lady’s chemise. Fabric is handkerchief linen also from folkwear

in ukrainian northern polissya region, up to the middle of 20th century people still wore a type of shoewear called "lyczaky": wooden shoes made by weaving tree bark, usually from willow or linden. people from the neighboring regions even had a mocking riddle, which goes like this: "who climbs a tree bare-footed and comes down with a new pair of shoes?", to which the answer was "a polissyan lad"

Prufer, Tillmann. Traditional Couture. Photographed by Gregor Hohenburg. Gestalten, Berlin, 2015.
This book portrays a number of German traditional folk wear across the country. This book highlights these garments as works of art, similar to haute couture fashion. The book features a table on contents divided by the specific place that the garment hails from. It is an oversized book with full page color photos of the pieces as well as close-ups. It gives a description and history of the folk wear, detail shots, and descriptions and more facts within the pictures footnotes. This book seems to be perfectly aimed at it's auidence of fashion enjoyers and opens a lot of avenues for both creative thought and an adherence to history. Trying to relocate a specific garment can be hard with this, unless you remember the specific name or location it was from.
All in all, this book highlights the incredible handiwork of these German garments as it focuses on how intricate they are- especially when people believe folk wear is simplistic. This serves as a good reminder of the variety and work that goes into a culture's clothing, and makes a good book to look through if one is trying to find new ideas for their own costume or fashion designs or recreate one of these pieces.

In an effort to be the change I want to see in the world, I am hosting a historical underwear teaparty next month. Yesterday I amused myself by putting together combinations from my collection that my friends might like to wear
