Woke up to Tayliar at it again so I'm here to make it very clear that "Lucy" is NOT Lucy Dacus. Lucy refers to Lucy Simon, Carly Simon's sister. We all know Karlie is named after Carly Simon, so who does that make Lucy? Karlie's sister, Kimby Kloss.

If you don't believe me that Carly Simon, Lucy Simon, and James are entirely relevant to TTPD, here is some concrete proof. TTPD released on April 19th, you know what else came out on exactly April 19th in 2016? Taylor's 73 questions with Vogue interview where she said that her favorite song lyric was "I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee" from You're So Vain by Carly Simon and then she made this lyric the visual ending of the KARma MV. Right after the Carly Simon comment she filmed the iconic "You should take her to Big Sur" scene before walking back in where you can see photos of her and Karlie framed on the shelf. .....on April 19th. It is undeniably connected.

Now I'm going to back this up with the HEAPS of evidence that majority of TTPD is through the lens of Karlie and Taylor being the reimagined do-over of Carly Simon and her exes James Taylor/James Hart. You're going to want to take a seat for this one.

Lucy was in a sister musical duo with Carly Simon and guess what the genre of music was? Folk. Hold onto that thought about Taylor being James in Folklore because she was named after James Taylor, that's important. Also keep in mind Betty is short for Elizabeth, tying Betty to Karlie/Carly.

Lucy Simon is best known for her work as a composer in the musical The Secret Garden. Sound familiar? It should, and it's from the song of Taylor's that puts this puzzle together.

I hate it here starts off with the lyric "tell me something awful, like you are a poet, trapped inside the body of a finance guy." And then goes on to say "I hate it here so I will go to Secret Gardens in my mind".

Now remember how I mentioned Carly Simon had 2 James exes? Sure everyone knows about James Taylor, but what we all looked passed for so long was Carly's second husband, James Hart. And when you look him up, you find something that matches that prior lyric a little.. all too well.

James Hart also known as Jim, was a closested gay poet who worked as an insurance salesman and he did not come out as gay until 20 years into his marriage with Carly Simon. In other words, James Hart was a poet trapped inside the body of a finance guy......

Taylor is James Hart. And this was the James she named herself after in Folklore, not James Taylor. She has metaphorically been James Hart majority of her discography, and she told us in Lover.

Remember how I said James Hart remained closeted for a total of 20 years of marriage to Carly Simon? In Daylight, Taylor says "I've been sleeping so long in a 20 year dark night, and now I see daylight"

This is where we pivot back to the James Taylor of it all because it is important to note that Carly Simon and James Taylor's wedding anniversary is on the first day of Daylight Savings being over, Nov 3rd.

On Nov 3rd 2024, exactly 38 minutes before Daylight Savings ended and after Taylor just played "The Prophecy x This Love" and Maroon x Cowboy Like Me... Karlie posted herself at a WEDDING with MAROON nails in broad DAYLIGHT despite it being 1:22am Central, doing the TTPD peace sign.

You seriously can't make this up.

Daylight Savings ending meant the clocks went back, like going back in time, to change the Prophecy. Now Taylor explains the Prophecy as being destined to not end up with her one true love. And she mashed it with "this love came BACK to me". Which is the entire premise of The Alchemy with lyrics like "making a comeback to where I belong, your heart said it's STILL reserved for me."

And the final piece of evidence that this story of TTPD is told through the reimagined lens of Carly Simon / both James is in The Alchemy. Because the alchemy IS what undoes The Prophecy.

In The Alchemy Taylor says "he jokes that it's her*in but this time with an e." , and many fans have struggled to understand what this lyric refers to... but it is very obvious for those who have paid attention to her use of Carly Simon and James Taylor.

So now we turn to the question, WHY did Carly Simon and James Taylor split in the first place? I'll let you read.

Meaning when you put everything together, the overarching message is that THIS time it was different, THIS time their love came back to them, because the person named after Carly Simon, and the person named after James Taylor, DID end up together in the end. Changing "the prophecy" that destined their love to fail in the same way that Carly and James did.

Also the "heroine" part to the joke is because in this version they are both women.

And it all goes back to Red with Begin Again. Because who would she be talking about that had as many James Taylor records as her, if not the woman who was quite literally named after Carly Simon?

I wonder if she ever gave us any sign that Begin Again was about Karlie.... oh wait.

In the Begin Again MV you can see a CAR license plate in the background, and it literally has Karlie's full name and birth year in code.

Not named yet but it is a 5+1 Sterek where Stiles working at a bookstore slowly meets different members of Derek's pack who know Stiles is the perfect match for Derek.

It was a quiet Tuesday afternoon at Alpha Books, Stiles the only staff on while the bosses were away on their 2 year anniversary trip. He was happily humming along to the radio, reshelving when the bell jingled announcing a new customer. 

Stiles popped his head out of the aisle and smiled, “Welcome to Alpha Books, can I help you find anything today?” The new customer was a girl, maybe a few years younger than him and small in stature but her whole presence radiated Tough, with a capital T.

“What do you get your older idiot brother to distract him from the ridiculousness of his life?”

Stiles tried not to grin at the exasperated tone but it must not have worked because the girl’s eyebrows crinkled into a judgemental frown.

“Sorry,” He offered in apology before completely stepping out of the aisle. “What does your brother like to read?”

She huffed out an annoyed sound but Stiles wasn’t completely convinced it was aimed at him. “I have no bloody clue. How do you work out someone’s tastes?”

“Well, what’s he like? Maybe we can work it out together?” Stiles was getting excited now, he loved a good book hunt.

She nodded, taking a moment to think. “He’s one of those crazy morning people who actually enjoys jogging before 7am. But it also means he’s in bed like an old grandma by sundown. He doesn’t like anything too horror-y or gore-y. I guess maybe some kind of adventure series?”

Stiles lit up with excitement, this brother sounded like he may enjoy one of Stiles’ personal favourite series. “Has he ever read the Bean and Pennywise series?”

The girl frowned again, “Been what?”

Stiles held up his hand and ducked down another aisle, returning in a flurry with the first book in the series in hand. He offered it to the girl and gave her time to inspect both front and back covers, including the blurb.

“This Bean guy sounds just like his type.” She gave a small smile and Stiles had a feeling it was a rare sight he was beholding. 

He also had to fight against the blush that was probably forming when he realised he was about to admit that he related way too much to Bean. This girl was super pretty, if not also intimidating, and Stiles was sure her brother would be too. And based on her description, her brother sounded like someone Stiles would swoon over. Stating he was like the lead character in the novel who was apparently her brother's type was way too forward. 

“Awesome! I’ll ring it up for you.” Stiles took the book back and headed over to the counter, slipping the store’s bookmark that doubled as marketing for his blog inside the front cover.

Rhythm Generation

It's been 5 years since we released the first of what would become known as the "Rythm Generation" Gundam Wing fanzine project. For about 4 years, the fandom came together to share some really phenomenal fan creations - art, fic, meta, traditional crafts, and more.

Although the project has ended, I did want to share past publications for those who missed out. Each one of the zines was a labor of love, and I want to again thank everyone who participated--as moderators and contributors.

2019 Rhythm Generation (released May 4, 2019): A fandom zine for the Gundam Wing After Colony universe and a celebration of the fandom that has been 20+ years and counting. It featured written and graphical fandom work which provided depth and breadth to the AC universe and the world of Gundam Wing. The collection included a wide array of world building meta, articles, art, and graphics focused on science, politics, society, and art from the fandom’s resident experts and enthusiasts which highlight the creative dynamism that underpins the AC universe. There were several charities for this publication.

2020 Rhythm Generation (released April 7, 2020): An unofficial 25th anniversary fandom zine for Gundam Wing and is a creative celebration of the After Colony universe and the fandom family itself.  The anthology showcased a wealth of fandom content in celebration of the show’s 25th anniversary: from fanfic and fanart to cosplay and gunpla to meta, tech specs, and fandom history.  The project included both a core zine—Shooting Stars—with a generalized focused on the fandom and a bonus zine—The Measure of a Year—which featured content centered around the crowd-sourced theme of “Seasons.” The chosen charity for this publication was War Child 

2021 Rhythm Generation (released October 1, 2021): The 2021 Rhythm Generation Gundam Wing fandom zine—East of the Sun, West of the Moon—featured canon-compliant, canon-divergent, and alternative universe explorations and retellings of classic fairytales, folklore, mythology, vast epics, urban legends, and even cryptids. The anthology included a wide variety of both SFW and NSFW fan content—so tread carefully!—to include stories, art, and other fanwork. The 2021 chosen charity was World Literacy Foundation

2023 Rhythm Generation (released July 1, 2023): The 2023 Rhythm Generation Gundam Wing fandom zine returned to the two-part structure celebrating canon and alternate universe fanworks. The main zine—Battle Scars—centered on the Gundam Wing characters as they move on with their lives after a major event. The bonus zine—Kitchen Cabinets—featured fanworks with a tasty twist plus sprites and recipes as digital swag! The chosen charity was The Hunger Project

I had a spinal procedure on Wednesday (minor; except for seeing all time at once for a couple days, it's fine) and I'm half-resting for a few days after that. But I managed to get the next set of Silent Hill 2 commentary posts up—here's the masterpost for those. I'm currently finishing up the posts for the third video, and (knock on wood) I'll be recording Blue Creek, aka "I have to fight Pyramid Head again," sometime this week. 

Meanwhile, Ian's third stream is also up: "Last night we had our first Pyramid Head encounter, talked about the Schumanns, dove into the wild world of sample manipulation, got a crash course in diatonic vs. nondiatonic chords, and discussed possible interpretations for the coin puzzle." He's already seen my third video (the same level) and tells you exactly where I got my ass kicked.

bog tour - countdown to 1 year of games

T MINUS 6 DAYS

Haere mai ki te post! In this little series of 'bog tours', I countdown to my 1 year ttrpg posting anniversary by posting insider trading info about each of my 15 published games, plus one secret content day. What will it be! In today's tour, we're looking at 'Wetland Natures in Wanderhome'.

'Wetland Natures in Wanderhome' is third party content for Wanderhome by Jay Dragon! It is a collection of 6 different natures about different kinds of wetlands.

Thoughts

For those who are unfamiliar, a nature in Wanderhome is a setting! Each time you journey to another place, you pick 3 of the natures (or roll for them!) and use that collection of places in your session(s). Each nature in the book has an overview, three things this place can always do, a picklist of aesthetic elements, and a picklist of folklores. My wetland natures also have a short bit about what that wetland type is!

My first ever game designing was for Wanderhome, so this was a lovely return to that! I have an unpublished playbook called 'the Freed', about being someone who just got released from demonic possession. It was written during a time where I was regularly having a delusion about that very thing, so it was quite heavy in tone. I might go back and try to make it a little more about freedom and joy and rediscovery instead, now that that's not a common delusion for me anymore.

This was inspired as I was rereading through the Wanderhome rulebook for the 3000th time, and coming across the swamp nature in the base rules, I was thinking about how it's a particular theme to the swamp, where it invokes stagnation and being held back. I wanted to offer an alternate more joyful view of a swamp! As I joked once, 'less swamphobic'. However, it's just a different vibe!

It was a bit of a challenge to come up with different things about each type, it was definitely a lot of thinking about points of difference. Which between swamp and bog was particularly hard.

Yukon Quest Day

Yukon Quest Day is celebrated on the first Saturday of February and this year it will be marked on February 1. It is time to go on an adventure with Siberian Huskies! Dogs have been working with humans in inland Alaska for over 10,000 years. Folklore in Alaska has mythological heroes who interacted with dogs, and some claim canines to be the ancient ancestor of the first human. During the Alaskan Gold Rush, Leonhard Seppala introduced the Siberian Husky, which was smaller than native Alaskan canines. The current sled dog’s genetic base is made up of indigenous dogs and Seppala’s Huskies. The genetic mix of the normal Yukon Quest Husky has been carefully chosen through many generations of breeders.

History of Yukon Quest

Yukon River serves as the historical highway of the north. The trail would follow the routes taken by prospects to reach the Klondike during the 1898 Gold Rush, and then to the Alaskan interior for subsequent gold rushes in the early 1900s. They despised the Iditarod Sled Dog Race’s numerous checkpoints and envisioned an endurance race in which contestants would rely on themselves and survival would be as important as speed. On the 25th anniversary of the event, Shank stated, “We wanted more of a Bush experience, a race with a little woodsmanship in it.”

The Yukon Quest was conceived in a bar in April 1983 by four Alaskans: LeRoy Shank, Roger Williams, Ron Rosser, and William ‘Willy’ Lipps. To commemorate the Klondike Gold Rush era the four proposed a 1,000-mile sled dog race from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Whitehorse, Yukon. A sled dog race from Fairbanks to Whitehorse had been discussed as early as 1976. But it wasn’t until this discussion that the Yukon Quest became more than just a concept. The race was dubbed the “Yukon Quest” by them to honor the Yukon River.

The first Yukon Quest put both race logistics and all participants to the test. In 1984, 26 teams left Fairbanks. Twenty teams arrived in Whitehorse over the next 16 days. Six teams were forced to abandon the race along the way. Sonny Lindner won the Yukon Quest for the first time, finishing in just over 12 days.

The Legend of Morthos and Damakos

Long ago, in the days of the great empire the dragonborne ruled much of Evala, and cruel masters they were[1]. The elves were taken as slaves en mass, those who refused to submit were publicly and brutally punished in the way that many slaves still are in Bekik Okathrel. And the humans were not much better off, taxed so heavily that many starved to death, men beaten in the streets, women raped. It was a dark time in Anderos[2] But where evil rules, heroes rise to the challenge. And so, it was. A small group of people with power enough to reshape the world: two human brothers, driven by the agony of loss and the hatred of the oppressed gathered together a small band of rebels and endeavoured to learn arcane secrets and practice dark magic in the hopes of turning the tide and taking back their homes.

On one clear night, when the moons hid their faces[3] the six met in a dark and lonely field[4]. There they performed ancient rituals and summoned six demons to make six pacts. They gave their blood and vowed the blood of the dragonborne and in return were given the ability to weave the magic of the 6 hells that they would be guardians of this land, and their children after them. When their dark work was done the 6 fell into a deep sleep and after 6 days, they woke, their bodies changed. Their skin had changed hue, their heads had sprouted horns and their backs had grown tails. Each had taken on the likeness of their demon master.[5]

Their true names lost to time, they became: Lerissa the Spider Queen, Therakai the Trickster, Reita the Dark One, Amnon the Conflagration, Damakos the Hammer, and his brother Morthos, time bender.

Together they swept the land, terrorising the dragonborne invaders with waves or horrifying arachnids, or with images of death and destruction, puppeting their bodies and even turning their own dreams against them. The dragonborne were broken, driven mad. Smashed and burned, man woman and child all alike. And Morthos stood lord of the destruction as chaos spread.

The dragonborne were forced out in just a year [6], an army of thousands defeated by what was once 4 humans and 2 elves. What elves they could free were un-endingly greatful, as were many of the humans, but still some looked upon their cursed formes and dark powers and saw an evil as great as that which they had defeated.

Corrupted by their power the 5 became greedy and bloodthirsty. This land was theirs, they had fought and bled for it, they would rule it. And rule they did. They divided Anderos into 5 kingdoms and declared themselves kings and queens. Fresh from the horrors of dragonborne rule the people celebrated victory and welcomed in the champions, blind to the changes war had wrought in their hearts.

Morthos alone rejected the call of power and disappeared, never to be heard of again, although stories of a strange hooded man performing acts both wondrous and terrible abound from the planes and grasslands of the south. [7]

The 5 immortal tieflings grew to be s corrupt and evil as the dragonborne they had driven out, and after a hundred of their rule a new rebel force grew up to oppose them, a loose coalition of many wizards and sorcerers using natural magic to combat and overcome the dark power of the 5. [8]

[1] dragonborne empire, so called as it was ruled by a family of dragonborne, then as today, the people of Bekik Okathrel are equal parts human and dragonborne.

[2] Anderos Did not yet exist, prior to dragonborne rule these lands were part of the Astreinian Empire, Zikas Ruchane, a former colony, remains loyal to the empire, and some there seek to rebuild it.

[3] for reference, Dioraden once had 3 moons, the two smallest collided almost a century after the original work was written, the Sehaneen Lights is comprised of the resulting debris.

[4] factually inaccurate, it was a barn, one that still stands to this day

[5] it is unknown which demons they made pacts with specifically, likely this refers to their general demon-like appearance. To wit:

Morthos and his decedents re characterised by purple skin, often their horns remain covered by soft felt-like skin, although it is common for tis covering to be removed when they come of age (around 13) revealing a glossy black bone, horn shape is as individual as a fingerprint. Morthos was intelligent and charismatic a born leader and tactician. He preferred to outwit opponents rather than fight them head on. And of course, he learned to manipulate the flow and effects of time.

Damakos and his decedents are red-skinned with white, uncovered horns which sweep back against the head then up and forward again, although Damakos horns tend to remain short and practical until much later in life. Damakos was the older brother of Morthos. impulsive and viscous, he preferred direct action and revelled in the thrill of battle. His ability was to strengthen himself and his weapons, dealing supernatural mounts of damage and healing supernaturally quickly.

Amnon and his decedents have pale orange skin and long curved horns, which don’t show until puberty and tend match skin tone at the base, fading to black half way up. Like Damakos, Amnon seemingly loved to fight, preferring to ambush opponents with blitz attacks before disappearing. He had a great affinity for fire.

Reita’s skin remained unchanged in colour, a human pink. She and her decedents bare goat like red horns, curling back around and outwards. Growth beginning at age 3 and taking until 25 to reach full size. Reita made use of telepathy and psychic attacks to break her opponent’s minds, even controlling some.

Therakai and his decedents have dark blue skin with simple and thin horns that trace the crown of the head, usually black. Therakai was a trickster, an illusionist, distracting his opponents with false images or sounds, misleading them, or scaring them away.

Lerissa, and her decedents had ash-grey skin and traditional demonic horns, usually in brilliant white. Lerissa, Therakai’s younger sister, had a great affinity for nature, especially arachnids, which she could charm into following her and obeying her orders. Lerissa’s bloodline has become entangled with the other 5 over generations, to the point where she has few clear decedents left, most having the likeness of another tieflings.

A note on tiefling biology. Decedents of Lerissa and Therakai can bear children with elves, but not humans. Amnon and Reita decedents can only successfully reproduce with other tieflings. Damakos decedents can reproduce with humans but will always have a human child and Morthos decedents can reproduce with humans, elves and tieflings and will always have children resembling either Morthos unless one parent is a child of Damakos.

While St. Patrick’s Day is now associated with wearing green, parades (when they're not canceled) and beer, the holiday is grounded in history that dates back more than 1,500 years. The earliest known celebrations were held in the 17th century on March 17, marking the anniversary of the death of St. Patrick in the 5th century. Learn more about the holiday’s history and how it evolved into the event it is today.

1. The Real St. Patrick Was Born in Britain

Much of what is known about St. Patrick's life has been interwoven with folklore and legend. Historians generally believe that St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was born in Britain (not Ireland) near the end of the 4th century. At age 16 he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and sold as a slave to a Celtic priest in the area now known as Northern Ireland. After toiling for six years as a shepherd, he escaped back to Britain. He eventually returned to Ireland as a Christian missionary.

2. St. Patrick Was Never Canonized

Despite his status as a patron saint, St. Patrick was never actually canonized by the Church during his lifetime. This was primarily because such a process did not exist when he died in A.D. 461. It wasn’t until 993 that St. Ulrich of Augsburg became the first saint to be formally canonized, and it was not until the 12th century that the Church established an official canonization process overseen by the Pope. While St. Patrick has not been formally canonized, many consider him to hold saintly status.

3. There Were No Snakes Around for St. Patrick to Banish from Ireland

Among the legends associated with St. Patrick is that he stood atop an Irish hillside and banished snakes from Ireland—prompting all serpents to slither away into the sea. In fact, research suggests snakes never occupied the Emerald Isle in the first place. There are no signs of snakes in the country’s fossil record. And water has surrounded Ireland since the last glacial period. Before that, the region was covered in ice and would have been too cold for the reptiles.

4. Leprechauns Are Likely Based on Celtic Fairies

The red-haired, green-clothed Leprechaun is commonly associated with St. Patrick’s Day. The original Irish name for these figures of folklore is “lobaircin,” meaning “small-bodied fellow.” Belief in leprechauns likely stems from Celtic belief in fairies— tiny men and women who could use their magical powers to serve good or evil. In Celtic folktales, leprechauns were cranky souls, responsible for mending the shoes of the other fairies.

5. The Shamrock Was Considered a Sacred Plant

The shamrock, a three-leaf clover, has been associated with Ireland for centuries. It was called the “seamroy” by the Celts and was considered a sacred plant that symbolized the arrival of spring. According to legend, St. Patrick used the plant as a visual guide when explaining the Holy Trinity. By the 17th century, the shamrock had become a symbol of emerging Irish nationalism.

6. Ireland’s Only Female Patron Saint, Brigid, Has Her Own Holiday

One of Ireland’s three patron saints, alongside St. Patrick and St. Columcille, St. Brigid (or Bridget) is the patron saint of Irish nuns, newborns, midwives, dairy maids and cattle. Believed to have been born in Ireland sometime around A.D. 450, Brigid was the daughter of a pagan king and an enslaved woman. She grew up to serve the church by building a church in Kildare, which was the site of a former shrine to the Celtic goddess, eponymous to her.

Said to have died in A.D. 524, Brigid's memory was kept alive by the church, which canonized her as St. Brigid. In 2023, Ireland designated February 1 a permanent public holiday in Brigid’s honor.

7. The First St. Patrick’s Day Parade Was Held in America

While people in Ireland had celebrated St. Patrick since the 1600s, the tradition of a St. Patrick’s Day parade began in America and actually predates the founding of the United States.

Records show that a St. Patrick’s Day parade was held on March 17, 1601, in a Spanish colony in what is now St. Augustine, Florida. The parade and a St. Patrick’s Day celebration a year earlier were organized by the Spanish Colony's Irish vicar Ricardo Artur. More than a century later, homesick Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched in Boston in 1737 and in New York City on March 17. Enthusiasm for the St. Patrick’s Day parades in New York City, Boston and other early American cities only grew from there. In 2020 and 2021, parades throughout the country, including in New York City and Boston, were canceled or postponed for the first time in decades due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. They returned in 2022.

8. The Irish Were Once Scorned in America

While Irish Americans are now proud to showcase their heritage, the Irish were not always celebrated by fellow Americans. Beginning in 1845, a devastating potato blight caused widespread hunger throughout Ireland. While approximately 1 million perished, another 2 million abandoned their land in the largest-single population movement of the 19th century. Most of the exiles—nearly a quarter of the Irish nation—came to the shores of the United States. Once they arrived, the Irish refugees were looked down upon as disease-ridden, unskilled and a drain on welfare budgets.

9. Corned Beef and Cabbage Was an American Innovation

The meal that became a St. Patrick’s Day staple across the country—corned beef and cabbage—was an American innovation. While ham and cabbage were eaten in Ireland, corned beef offered a cheaper substitute for impoverished immigrants. Irish Americans living in the slums of lower Manhattan in the late 19th century and early 20th purchased leftover corned beef from ships returning from the tea trade in China. The Irish would boil the beef three times—the last time with cabbage—to remove some of the brine.
