Spotted Eagle Ray Serenity by focusedonawesome Scuba diving is without a doubt one of the most awesome activities a person can do. It is like visiting another world complete with alien creatures. It is peaceful and serene. Just you and nature – completely raw and uncut. And sometimes if you are lucky you will see something truly special. Such was the case when we were in Cozumel for the New Year. We happened across this Spotted Eagle Ray and his traveling companion cruising the sandy bottom looking for a mid morning snack. Now, Spotted Eagle Rays are hardly a rare sight in the Caribbean but what made this encounter truly special was the length of time we were able to spend with this graceful creature. You see, up until this trip, every time we have seen a Spotted Eagle Ray they were usually gone almost as quickly as we spotted them. This guy let us hang around, take pictures, and swim with him for several minutes. It’s encounters like these that keep us coming back to the ocean for more.

It's been about 2 weeks now since I went to #coachsummit2015 in Nashville. The initial excitement has worn off some, but the drive and determination to continue becoming the best me I can be certainly has not. Part of that is my story, my why. And this part today is really tough to share - but I am going to because it's a part of my positive future as well. I've struggled with truly embracing my body ever since I realized how far gone I had allowed myself to get. I know, it sounds like it should be the opposite - embrace my body more now that I have reached a point where I am not just healthy but also fit. It's not that easy or simple. I am not saying I dislike myself or am not proud of what I have accomplished. Nor do I look in the mirror and rip myself apart. But I do hold certain fears - like wearing a bathing suit. I honestly have not worn a bathing suit in public in 3 years. And in those 3 years I have been in the best shape of my life! The fear of the old me has somehow held me back from this, though. And I recognize that it's something that should and will change. Each year at summit they hold the Beachbody Classic. In an essence, it's a fitness competition. This past year one of my fellow coaches @thefitandfreemama participated and faced her fear of being on stage in a bathing suit. It was hugely inspiring! So now, my team has encouraged myself to do the same and I will also be participating next year for the sole reason of facing my fear and working towards embracing the body I have now and believing that it is not the same as what I had before. That it is strong, fit and just straight up awesome. So this is my public confirmation that I am going to do this! My number one goal from this is to face that fear and be able to walk confidently in this body that has helped me finish five marathons, that can do head stands now, has flipped industrial tires and can do push ups like a boss, whether I am wearing skinny jeans and a tank top or just a plain old bathing suit. Thanks Team Pure Synergy for always helping me dig deeper to just rock this life fully. #seekatfaceherfears #stillrunningthough #focusedonawesome
