another year....

A little late, but it was the anniversary of my Kelpie AU and DCA fic Scars and Scales! Can't believe its been another year and so i summoned some art for it from a future chapter :D Thank you all so much for following along in the moments of both angst and fluff, i shake and hug you all as i keep working to finish this story.

You suck in a twisted, hasty breath when your eyes drop to trace down the length of Moon's arm as he rests his hand against the dock. A yellow sun, dotted with short rays decorates his left bicep, stark against the deep blue of his skin- just like the one that's adorned your neck your whole life. Set inside the sun is a star, dull and grey within the warm yellow around it with another like it dotted below the rays of the sun, linking them together. It snaps something inside your chest, ripping through you.

A Lucky Charm

Sailors tend to be superstitious, and sailors of the stars are no different. It’s tradition to bring a good luck charm with them when they go on a long voyage for safety.

Read this cute Mer fic last night called Ripple by @starryeyed-queer

I had to draw the watercolor painting that reader makes of Sun because it was written so descriptively and I could just see the image in my brain grrrr. Tried to mimic watercolor best i could but i am not a watercolor artist haha. Love this fic, very wholesome cant wait to read the next chapter <333

Man i've reread this fic like 3 times now. If you haven't checked it out and like mermaid dca stuff i highly recommend it.

It comes again, followed by a string of uneven warbles. Now that you’re more alert, you start to pick up a little of what it’s—

‘Friennnd?’

…What did it just say?

Slowly, exceedingly slowly, you look from the corner of your eye, and against the dull colors of the cavern you see a lot of yellow. You’re not sure whether it is excitement or anxiety that compels you, but you quickly whip your head to get a full view, and look up. Your jaw drops.

“...Sun?”
