I was on a bus with my mom, my grandmother, Sarah, and someone I didn’t recognize. We were seated near the back, and we were all given some wine.

I was in the middle, and the person on the aisle seat scrunched in closer to make space for a fourth person, but I told him that the rules stated that three was the maximum. He moved back just in time as people started to arrive (from the back door of the bus, apparently.)

I noticed that we had an extra wine glass, that was filled to the brim. We were only supposed to have glasses half full.

I tapped my mom on the shoulder (she was in the seat right in front of us) and asked her what I should do. She said to pass it over.

Strangely, the glass was gone, leaving only a tiny glass cup full of wine. I figured it was the same one and passed it over.

Then I noticed that my grandmother had a large plastic Tupperware full of wine and ice, and I took it as well. She was trying to hide the extra wine.

We finally arrived at our destination. It was sort of like capture the flag, but we were trying to destroy the other tower with the weapons given to us. The game was overseen by Herobrine, but we didn’t know his name.

My team wasn’t doing well at first. The other team would come over and break our tower over and over, and we couldn’t do anything. We blamed Herobrine, because he was clearly helping the other team.

We needed something to call him, though. I suggested Elytran, which meant Nightmare. Everyone loved it and took to the name immediately.

We started to get better at the game. We’d have people stationed at our tower (including me) and gun down anyone who came through the low archways, while the rest of us went to the other side.

Elytran/Herobrine was watching the other side, and we all assumed he was AFK, so we started going nuts, flying, shooting the towers from an unfair distance, everything. By the time he came back, we had won.

I celebrated with my team, and we all went back to the mines. That game was an anomaly, something used to boost morale when they noticed everyone getting sloppy with their metalwork.

It was very dark, but I was curious. I followed around a large owl (he reached my waist) and asked all sorts of questions, and he answered me the best he could. It turns out that his race was a darkness dwelling one, and they couldn’t be near light, or even the colour white at all, for risk of burning to death. I was shocked, and asked how they worked with fire in the forges, if that was the case. The answer was a lot of protective gear and many deaths.

Eventually, everyone had to go to a summit meeting. I went along with everyone else, but the owl warned me to stay by the car. The rules were different inside the building, and he didn’t want me getting hurt. I understood.

I waited by the white car for hours. Finally, the owl came back, along with a wolf and a catlike humanoid. They reminded me of my mom and grandmother. There was another humanoid as well, but something felt off about them.

Everyone else felt it too. The owl told her to leave them, but she got out a mirror. She was going to kill my friends.

I wasn’t going to stand for that. I had a small tub of white-coloured ice cream, and I was gonna use it. I got a spoonful of it on my red plastic spoon and flung it at her, but it went wide. She gave me an amused look before going back to threatening my friends.

I got another scoop, and this time, I snuck up next to her and smeared it on her arm. She froze, then started to scream as she burned. I yelled at everyone to go, and we got into the car. Turning on the ignition turned it into a flying pirate ship, and we flew away.

I turned to everyone else and asked exactly why the colour white of all things was so deadly. The humanoid explained that it was a very light colour, and that played into their light sensitivity. I thought for a moment, then decided that I would help them out via exposure therapy.

The owl flew away without a word, and I didn’t know why.

POV shift to the owl, he flew to an owl colony. He met with his friend, a burrowing owl, and explained that he wanted to protect Luz (me) from all the dangers of their society, but he wasn’t sure how to do it.

His friend said he could help, and asked if we were more than friends. The owl was very flustered and vehemently denied it, we were just friends and we weren’t even the same species. They flew back to the airship.

I had tied the wolf and the humanoid to me and had them watch a pixelated video of a huge creature breathing fire on a tiny one. They were trying to escape, but I held my ground. Then I noticed that we were being followed by a strange owl, and let everyone go so we could be on guard.

The small owl followed us quietly for a long moment, before dipping into the clouds. At that moment, our owl friend landed and explained that the burrowing owl was his friend, and he was here to help. He then landed on the ship as well, and we all got acquainted with him.

[Brigand}-Good morning and/or night omninet, Brigand here with some general, A tiny request, and even an amazing deal near the end:

First off myself and PERSEPHONE have come up with a name for our definitely NOT stolen ship: Demeters Bounty. She may have a fair amount of holes here and there, and the temperature modulation is broken (freezing my balls off in here), and the blinkspace drive...

BUT gravity is back online as is the printer and most other critical systems. I've got food to last me a year at the least and plenty of repairs to keep me busy. Were cruising on standard thrust towards the nearest system but it's not looking great, what're we at dear? <PERSEPHONE>-ESTIMATED TRAVEL TIME IS APPROXIMATELY [TOO LONG : REDACTED]. TELLING YOU WOULD ONLY DISHEARTEN YOU AND YOU KNOW I CANNOT STAND TO SEE YOU SAD. IN ADDITION, THERE IS NO BLOOD TO SPILL BUT YOURS IF I WERE TO ATTEMPT TO RAISE YOUR SPIRITS.

[Brigand}- Huh... Okay, well I suppose we'll keep up repairs. Keep tinkering with The Crimson Flood, I've got a surplus of IPS-N gear I can cannibalize for parts. Realizing now that, as always, I did not think this through enough, our old vessel was unfortunately destroyed (its currently embedded into the would-be armoury of Demeters Bounty).

BUT! That AMAZING DEAL I mentioned earlier! Myself and PERSEPHONE have recently come into possession of many IPS-N frames and weapons which I am looking to be rid of. So if someone happens to have a spare blinkspace drive sitting around, I'd give you first pick at the very least, maybe a free D/D 288, perhaps even a favour from eveyones favourite pirate!

Or if worse comes to worst I think I could rig the printer to take deactivated greywash and possibly print new blinkspace drive parts...

<PERSEPHONE>-ABSOLUTELY NOT! I WOULD SOONER SHATTER THIS CASKET, DISCARD THESE PETTY SHACKLES AND REND SPACE ASUNDER. I WOULD SOONER CARVE THE STARS FROM THE SKY AND BUILD US A CHARIOT FROM THEIR COOLING HUSKS.
