Their Supplier Code of Conduct (SCoS) ensures the company only partner with suppliers having achieved a high environmental and social standard.
ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS

have eco-friendly production process

Few brands have captured the zeitgeist of the sustainable fashion movement quite like Pangaia. Its comfy-cool aesthetic makes a splash on social media, and an innovative take on environmental issues places it as one of the front-runners when it comes to challenging industry norms.
Elevated loungewear is the brand's hallmark, with Pangaia tracksuits and oversized hoodies being a firm favourite among followers. Colour-blocking is a key element; from primary hues through to soft pastels, you can pick a palette to suit your mood. For a final touch, the brand's signature slogan, an environmental manifesto of sorts, is emblazoned on garments to call to mind its ethical credentials. Each design is comfortable, colourful and well-considered (a winning combination in our eyes).
Invention is core to Pangaia's philosophy. With a team of scientists, technologists and designers, the brand is working to answer some of the fashion industry's biggest sticking points. Water pollution? It's planted 400,000 ocean-cleaning mangrove trees as part of its commitment. Biodiversity? Pangaia has launched two initiatives to protect diverse species. Synthetic materials? Its patented FLWRDWN and C-FIBER fabrics are bio-based, making them fully biodegradable. What's more, the brand prioritises eco-friendly treatments throughout the production process, further reducing the impact that its clothing has on the planet

FLWRDWNTM is a breakthrough vegan down technology that took over 10 years to develop, without any animals involved in the process, and made in an eco-friendly way. The down is made from natural, dried wild flowers which have a down-like structure with insulating properties. The two main ingredients are FLOWERS and BIOPOLYMERS.- Flowers: Flower floss fibre, one of the main ingredients of the FLWRDWN TM technology has a strong disruptive intrinsic value: it’s completely natural origin. This comes to be represented in a two-fold perspective: a) an organic and natural material, that doesn’t come from animals nor petroleum, and b) its role in the ecosystem, this plant is essential for the impolination of the butterflies. - a biopolymer selected to be blended with Flower floss fibre to make the FLWRDWN TM technology. This blend has exceptional hypoallergenic properties, as well as bacterio-static and antimicrobial features, naturally, without any additional treatment or use of water. It is a thermoplastic fiber-grade resin, and complies with Plastics Regulation 10/2011. Compared to animal or synthetic down, FLWRDWN TM avoids the proliferation of bacteria and is 100% odour-free.
SPACE tech CORE - All is infused with a innovative BioAEROGEL.  It gives strength to FLWRDWN™ products, increasing their performance and durability.

BASTA PIUME D’OCA: LA GIACCA SI IMBOTTISCE COI FIORI SELVATICI
Tumblr media

SPACE 9 | IMMERSIVE ENVIRONMENT
Yesterday I attended my first lectures by Lili Bartha and Troy about Immersive experiences ( Multiverse) and Lenses for digital fashion (data as material).
“The MetaVerse: Seamlessly connected phygital and virtual platforms merging physical & digital identity”
INSIGHTS | NOTES
During Troys presentation we reflected on what Fashion means and tried to view it through different lenses and perspectives:
* System of differentiating and identifying *Mode/Moda: The number that appears most in a data set “what appears the most” * A definition of a moment in time * The functional, protective aspect : social technical * Any technology that envelops the body: aesthetic and function.
The world of 3d Environments and fashions infiltration into the gaming world is a very interesting phenomenon, however I find it hard to relate to. I think this is because Im a bit old fashioned and don’t like the idea of online retail taking taking over completely from brick & mortar. I do however think it is a cool addition to retail, especially when a physical and digital experience are combined. I also really love when these experiences were used for educational purposes. Examples that she showed that I really liked were the following:
Pangaia - The FLWRDWN™ Virtual Immersive Experience *educational*
Tumblr media
Simona Rocha - AR Pop up book *digital and physical combined*
Tumblr media
The super informative lecture by Lili Bartha focused more on how 3D technology/environments were implemented for marketing products and consumer use. Personally Im very curious how these Technologies or environments are used in the back office, within a fashion company. Therefor I will do some research into this.

PANGAIA
The meaning behind Pangaia is broken down into two. Pan meaning all inclusive, especially in relation to the whole of a continent, racial group or religion, and gaia meaning mother earth. So, Pangaia is an all-inclusive brand that create essential products with innovative technology and bio-engineered materials on a mission to save the environment with solutions for sustainable clothing.

Seaweed fiber are made from a blend of organic cotton yarns and lyocell, embedded with seaweed particles. Seaweed is rich in essential substances like vitamins, antioxidants, amino acids and minerals, which is why it is Pangaia’s future goal to offer 100% seaweed fiber products.

They also use plant-based fibers such as organic cotton and linen. 95% of the water used to grow cotton is rain fed, which protects non-renewable groundwater and surface water resources. As for linen use, it comes from the inner bark of flax stems and its seeds and oils serve as a source of nutrition for humans and animals, resulting in a zero-waste material that is renewable and recyclable.

A leather alternative that Pangaia uses is grape leather. Vegea’s grape leather utilizes waste materials and extends the utility of grapes and making winemaking processes more circular. The base material is organic cotton, and it uses the most environmentally responsible form of polyurethane on the market.

They also use technology to ensure complete supply chain transparency. All trims, labels and threads are either recycled or responsibly sourced. PANGAIA is a direct to consumer materials science company bringing breakthrough textile innovations and patents into the world through everyday lifestyle products. Every technology they work with aims to solve an environmental problem of the fashion/apparel & nature industry.
I love how this brand uses bright colours within there tracksuits and clothing, I used a picture to show the colour palette as it shows it very clearly and I think this again links well with the new mythologies women's wear trend as the colours are bright and kind of fit in with the 70s theme of it being bright and vibrant. To link my work to this I will create a styling shoot using different colour tracksuits and clothing involving bright, vibrant and bold colours.

I wanted to make my garments sustainable by f.e. use used/old bedsheets as filling for the quilted garments. I have heard of the flower down before but never thought of it again. It is a fun idea which Stella mentioned this week. My concept is all about wellbeing and trying to bring what's left of nature back to humankind, but there is not much left.... SO does this fit the timeframe we live in?? Are there flowers left that can be used as down???
“Pangaia, the science-forward basics line that launched last year, is addressing that gray area with its latest release: FLWRDWN, a capsule of puffers filled with natural wildflowers. It’s the rare sustainable solution that’s neither cruel to animals nor to the planet; in addition to being ultrawarm, fluffy, and hypoallergenic, the “flower down” is 100% biodegradable.
“It has the potential to change the entire industry,” Dr. Amanda Parkes, Ph.D., chief innovation officer at Pangaia, explains. “The traditional down industry has so many issues, but the vegan options are all petrochemical-based. That in-between solution hasn’t been addressed yet, and as we scale, it can cross over to so many other products—vests, pillows, comforters, home goods.” For those of us who have grown up wearing down, she insists that the flower fill has “the same thermal properties as down, and the same natural fluffiness, but it comes from waste. And any time we can create a high-tech, bio-based alternative [to an animal product], it’s better than a synthetic.””
