Molly was ridiculous. Truly pitiful. She knew it. She could admit it. She was an adult who had lived on her own for many years, but she had become so attached to Bob, she could barely handle the silence of being alone now.Â
The silence when Bob was here? Well that silence was delightful. It meant he was reading a book or contemplating something. It meant she had asked him a question and he was still gathering his thoughts. But the silence without Bob was actually unbearable.Â
She found herself making excuses to visit her sister. Or even just call her. One night she called Bradley and pretended she was very interested in the Phillies score so she had someone to talk to about something. She was sure Bradley knew the real reason for her phone call, but bless his heart for talking to her for thirty minutes anyway.Â
The calls from Bob were so sporadic and sudden, she kept her phone on her at work. One time she had to sneak away to the supply closet to talk to him, but it had been worth it as she stood there surrounded by antiseptic wipes and sterile syringes.Â
"Mo," he sighed. "I can't stand this, Honey. I can't get any sleep without you next to me."
That call had been brief, but she made sure he knew she missed him and his particular brand of silence. And his cock.
Because that was the other thing. The pregnancy hormones were outrageous. The only two things she seemed to want to do were cry and orgasm. She found herself crying all the time. Like even in the middle of Costco when she saw a brand of cheese called Floyd Farms. But it was really hard to cum without Bob. She and her toys weren't as patient and sexy as he was.Â
On the Monday of her anatomy ultrasound appointment, Molly cried in the car on her way to the medical complex. And she was still crying when her sister arrived to join her for the appointment. "I'm sorry," Molly said, wiping her eyes. "I shouldn't have asked you to leave work early. I could have done this by myself."
But her sister wrapped her up in a tight hug. "Do you think I'm not excited to find out if I'm getting a niece or a nephew? Please, I'd choose this over work any day of the week!"
Molly nodded as her sister led her inside. She was used to this kind of medical setting, but it was always weird being the patient and not the nurse. So she held her arm out to have blood drawn even though she could have done a better job herself, and she sat quietly while the nurse explained things she already knew. And her sister was with her the whole time, holding her hand.Â
It's not like she wasn't grateful, because she was. But she whispered, "I miss Bob," when the ultrasound technician was washing her hands. Molly rubbed her hands along her round belly and looked at her sister. "I love you so much, but I wish Bob was here."
"I know," she replied with a small smile. "I wish I could swap places with him for the day. How hard could it be to navigate a Super Hornet and interpret radar imagining while trying not to barf?"
Molly laughed, already feeling better as they got started. And when it was time to find out the sex of the baby, Molly's sister made the tech pause for a minute until she was sure she was getting a video on her phone.Â
"Okay, I'm ready," she said, giving a thumbs up, and then Molly smiled for the phone camera.
"Miss you, Bob. Or should I say, Daddy. Ready to find out if you're going to have a son or a daughter?"
Then she nodded to the tech who brought the images up on the monitor, and as soon as she said, "It's a boy," Molly felt like everything made perfect sense. She just lounged there on the table while her sister freaked out and nearly dropped her phone. But all Molly could picture was a tiny version of Bob with glasses, immaculate manners, and tidy hair. Yes, it made sense.Â
"Calm down, or I'll name him Everett!" she told her sister as a big smile broke out on her face. It felt nice for her to be the calm one right now as her sister cried into the camera, gushing about having a nephew.Â
But now it was almost midnight, and Molly was waiting up, expecting a call from Bob. She had promised him she'd email him as soon as she found out what they were having, but she held off, knowing this call was supposed to be happening. Just as she was dozing off on the couch with an opened bag of gummy bears on her chest, her phone started ringing.Â
It was a FaceTime call. "Bob?!" she practically screamed when she answered it. And then his handsome face was there, bathed in sunlight.Â
"Honey! Did you have your appointment today?" His eyes were eager, examining Molly's face as she smiled at him.Â
"Yes, I did, Cowboy Bob."
His eyes went slightly wider, and Molly could read the anticipation there. "Well?" he asked, pressing his lips together.Â
She didn't want to make him wait any longer. "We're having a boy."
His eyes welled with tears as he bumped his glasses up onto his forehead and wiped at his eyes. "A boy?" he asked softly. "Molly, really? A boy?"
"Were you hoping for a girl?" she asked with a grin. There was no way Bob would survive having a daughter like Molly, if that's what would have ended up happening.Â
"Not really," he replied, openly crying. "It didn't really matter. But now that I know it's a boy, I just-" He shook his head for a few seconds. "I just can't wait, Mo."
She popped a gummy bear into her mouth as her baby boy kicked her in the spleen. "How's your deployment, Daddy? I must say, it's a real treat getting to see your sexy face right now."
Bob smiled and adjusted his glasses, looking around at wherever he was standing. "It's boring. And I can't sleep at all. I've been up at night just thinking about you and our son. I miss sleeping with you. Wrapping my arms around you. I miss our bedroom. I know it's silly."
"It's not!" she insisted, sitting up a little straighter. "I miss the way you smell and your voice and the taste of your cum."
"Mo," he groaned in a warning tone.Â
"What?" she whined. "I do! And I miss the way you'd put your hands on my bump."
He looked at her reverently. "I love you. Both of you. But I need to go get ready to get up in the air, okay?"
Well now she felt like she was going to cry for sure. "You'll call me again soon?"
"The first moment I'm allowed to, I'll call you again, Mo."
-----------------------
Bob was a week into his deployment when he gave up and left his bunk in the middle of the night. His roommate didn't snore, so sleeping shouldn't have been an issue, but without Molly's warmth next to him, it just wasn't happening. The lounge had decent coffee, and it was quiet. There was a shelf lined with books. He'd go there and see if it made him sleepy.Â
When he walked in wearing his gray sweatpants and an old gym shirt, he felt eyes on him right away. He turned to his left to see a woman around his age look up from her book to smile at him. "Hi," she whispered, and he knew she must have been talking to him. There was nobody else around.Â
"Hi." Bob returned her smile and went to investigate the bookshelf. Didn't they know he wasn't going to want to read about US naval history right now? He ran his fingers along all the spines until he found a well worn mystery novel. That might hit the spot.Â
So he settled down on the chair across from the woman, and when he opened the book, she said, "I read that one last week."
"Oh," he replied, glancing at the cover again before meeting her eyes. "Any good?"
She just shrugged and said, "Passable. But almost everything else in here is the history of the navy part seven thousand, or something equivalent."Â
Bob laughed and leaned across the table. "I'm Bob. Bob Floyd," he said, extending his hand.Â
"Annamarie Clarke. It's nice to meet you, Bob."
He nodded and had every intention of just opening the book on his lap, but when Annamarie asked him what he was doing awake at two in the morning ship time, he ended up setting the book aside. She was nice and soft spoken and kind of mousy. She was the type of woman he would have asked out before he met Molly. But right now she was just someone who was willing to talk to him, and maybe that was exactly what he needed.Â
"This is my first deployment in about a year," he told her after a few minutes of talking. "And I wasn't expecting it. Which is silly, I know. But... I have a lot going on at home."
"Sounds heavy," she replied with a soft smile. "Wanna talk about it?"
Bob leaned back in his chair and pictured Molly and her bump and her silver barbells and her smile. He wanted to tell Annamarie everything, because he knew it would feel good to talk about Molly and the baby. But it also felt too sacred in a way, so he just simply said, "Maybe another time." And then he cleared his throat and asked her why she was awake so late.
Her voice was oddly soothing to him as she told him about her home in Virginia. They compared the Pacific Fleet to the Atlantic Fleet. She made Bob laugh so many times, he lost count. He finally felt himself yawning, and he stood the same time she did.Â
In another time, he would have thought she was sweet. He would have been a stuttering, blushing mess in her presence. She would have either laughed at him or thought he was adorable. He might have asked her to hang out again. But he had Molly now, and there was no going back from that. He didn't blush and stutter like he used to, especially not around another woman. The only one who could bring that out in him was his girlfriend when she was whispering in his ear about something she wanted to do to him. She was the only sweet thing he wanted in his life.
So he told Annamarie goodnight as they paused in the doorway together, and he intended for that to be it.
But she squeezed his hand gently and said, "Maybe I'll see you again, Bob." And then he turned one way down the hallway, and she turned the other.
------------------------
Molly was trying to straighten up the condo on her day off, but the smell of the bleach cleaner in the bathroom was making her gag. She hadn't been eating well, and this morning she hadn't eaten at all. Making food after her shift at the hospital was way too much work. If she didn't have time to stop at her sister and Bradley's place, then she just munched on whatever snacks she could find.
When her phone vibrated in the pocket of her sweatpants, she was sitting on the floor outside the bathroom trying to force herself to go back in there. "Shit," she gasped when she saw that Bob's mom was calling her.Â
She cleared her throat and answered with a simple, "Hi!" Then she felt like an idiot until she heard the friendly voice on the other end of the call.
"Molly! Are you home, sweetheart?"
"Yes!" she answered, still too chipper for her liking. She cleared her throat again. "Just trying to clean the bathroom and make lunch."
"Well don't. Rachel and I are about to head to the city to see you. I'm sure you must be exhausted after work every day, and I made dozens of meals that can go in the freezer so you don't have to make lunch, okay?"
"Okay," Molly said before pressing her lips together to keep from crying. She was being mommed. She missed being mommed. She loved it when her sister mommed her, but this was just as good.Â
"And don't open any cleaning supplies. I'll do that when I get there."
Now a tear really did leak down her cheek. "Too late. It's making me nauseous."
"We're in the car now. Crack open a window in a different room, and we'll see you soon."
Three hours later, Molly was eating a homemade meal while Rachel talked a mile a minute. The condo was spotlessly clean, and Bob's mom was taking the trash out to the dumpster.Â
"I want to say thank you again, but I'm afraid I'll start crying," Molly whispered when Rachel took her empty plate to the dishwasher.Â
"Nah, you already thanked us a dozen times. My mom wants to help. I mean, so do I. It's hard when Bob is deployed, but it must be miserable for you. Being pregnant on top of everything."
Molly nodded and twisted her fingers together, trying to keep her voice calm. "I miss him so much, it physically hurts. Like sometimes it's hard to breathe. And it's too quiet here without him."
Rachel smiled sympathetically. "Bob doesn't make much noise though."
Molly licked her lips and closed her eyes. "He's quiet. So when he decides to talk about something, it's always worth listening to. And he's been the sweetest man in the world, especially since I told him I was pregnant."
Rachel kind of shrugged. "Listen, I know this isn't the 1800s, but are you and Bob going to get married?"
Molly's eyes went wide. "I-" She slammed her mouth shut, unsure about what she wanted to say here.Â
But Rachel continued on, undeterred. "It's just that, Bob seems like the type who'd want that. And I'm not trying to call him a prude or anything, but he's pretty conservative when it comes to his personal life. I just thought he would have taken you to the store to get a ring the same day." She seemed to rethink what she had just said. "I'm sorry, I'm overstepping. I'm just surprised you're not married to my baby brother right now."
Molly kept thinking about it. There were times when Bob promised her forever where she really thought about marrying him. She already knew he'd be so good at being a husband, but marriage seemed like something else Molly would probably just fail at over time. But that wildflower meadow filled her mind again. Bob holding their son surrounded by daisies, poppies and violets. Bob sneezing but insisting he was fine. Okay, yes. She wanted it.Â
But then Bob's mom walked back in, and Molly started to wonder why Bob hadn't asked her to pick out a ring by now. Maybe his family was wrong, and he wasn't completely sold on her. Sure, she'd told him she didn't want to get married yet, but now she was surprised he hadn't insisted that's what he wanted to do. And he hadn't brought it up again.Â
--------------------------
"So where do you live, Bob? I know you're stationed out of Top Gun. Do you live in Coronado?" Annamarie asked, playing with the loose ends of her hair. It was the second night Bob had ventured to the lounge, and she was there again. He tried to fall asleep for the past few nights without leaving his bed, and he'd been mostly successful, but he'd finished his book and came to pick a new one. He was surprised to see her when he walked in, and he wondered if she had been here every night.Â
"How well do you know San Diego?" he asked, thinking about his condo. Thinking about all of Molly's stuff everywhere in their condo. "I live in Hillcrest."
"I know it well enough," she replied with a soft smile, leaning a little closer to him. "And Top Gun is just impressive. You must have some amazing credentials under your belt."
He shrugged. "I'm just a weapons systems officer," he muttered. "I'm actually a little out of my wheelhouse, because the pilot I'm used to flying with isn't here. It's been a bit of an adjustment. And I'm missing my place back in Hillcrest. A lot. I'm still having such a hard time sleeping here."
She trailed her fingers down along her neck and asked, "What's your place like?"
"Oh, I have a condo. I bought it two years ago. It felt huge at first, but my girlfriend moved in a few months ago. Now I might have to sell it."
Her expression fell and her shoulders sagged. "You have a girlfriend?" she asked, her tone flat as she pouted. But her pout didn't light him up inside the way Molly's did. It didn't really phase him at all.
"Yeah. Molly. She's something else," he said with a laugh. "We're going to have a son. He's due in March."
"Oh," she said, nodding slightly. "That's great, congratulations."
"I think the reason I can't sleep is because I miss her so much," Bob said quietly, looking at his hands. "She's a spitfire. Honestly, she's a bit of a handful. But I'm just so used to her now. Even though she's wild." Bob closed his mouth. He'd lost himself there thinking about her.Â
Annamarie was quiet for a few seconds before she asked, "You trust her?"
"Yes," Bob said right away as he met her eyes. He did. He trusted Molly. Even though she said she didn't want to get married to him. Even though sometimes she shied away from the topic of forever.Â
"Even though she's wild?" she asked, echoing his words with an edge of sarcasm.
He thought about how Molly's face lit up when she saw him. And the way she'd call his name through a crowd of people, seemingly delighted to be with him. Bob was sure she was only wild for him now.Â
Annamarie must have mistaken his silence for hesitation. "Do you think you'll ask her to marry you?" she asked, leaning closer across the small table.
Bob would have asked already, but Molly had shut that idea down cold. "I don't know that she'd say yes."
She touched his hand again. "Then maybe she's not the one for you."
-----------------------------
Molly thought she was doing alright. She was having a pretty good day. Nothing to be concerned about over here. Nope. She wasn't missing Bob to the point of devastation. Not at all. Just a completely normal day where she went to work and came home only to get changed and hear a knock on the door while she was on the verge of tears.
"Coming!" she called out, stretching her back where she was starting to feel really sore. If she could just stop thinking about Bob all the time, then maybe the ache would go away.Â
As she reached for the knob, she hoped it was Phoenix. She'd been stopping over randomly, but she usually texted first. But when she saw a kid who couldn't have been older than eighteen standing there holding a bouquet of gas station flowers, she erupted into tears.Â
"Uh, are you Molly?" he asked, holding the flowers out and looking a little concerned.
"Yes," she said, wiping her eyes with the backs of her hands.
"Then these are for you. From some guy named Bob."
She held them in her hands like they were the most delicate and beautiful things in the world. "How did he do this?" she marvelled, taking in the sight of each bloom through her tears.Â
The kid shrugged. "He gave me a hundred bucks a few weeks ago to make sure I brought them here today." And then he walked away, leaving Molly to kick the door closed before reading the card that was tucked between two stems.
Molly,Â
It's been exactly six months since the first time I told you I love you. And I have loved you every day since then. I can't be there in person, but I wanted to make sure you knew I was thinking about you. I'll get you more gas station flowers as soon as I get home. I love you so much.
Bob
She went to the bedroom and threw some random things in a tote bag. Then she made sure everything was turned off before she locked the door behind her. Molly's hands were shaking as she drove through familiar neighborhoods until she pulled up in front of her sister's house. It was late now, and she was sure Ev would be in bed. So she texted and called her sister's phone. When she got no response, and she knew she couldn't stand the isolating silence for one more minute, she got out of the car and let herself in the front door.Â
Her hands were shaking, and she realized she had been holding the flowers continuously since that kid gave them to her. She looked around the dimly lit living room, and a second later, everything was illuminated. Bradley was standing at the top of the steps in his boxer shorts, holding a baseball bat like he was a power hitter.Â
"I'm sorry. It's just me," she said pitifully. He looked even more relieved and even more annoyed as he lowered the bat. Molly supposed it was a nice sentiment about her brother-in-law that he was ready to take someone's head off before he'd let anything happen to his family.Â
He grunted and turned back to the bedroom, and Molly could hear him say, "Your sister's here." A minute later, Molly was enveloped in a mom hug.
"I can't," Molly whispered. "I can't stay there alone another night. I hate being away from Bob. You know what he did? He got the guy from the gas station to deliver the flowers to me today, because it's the six month anniversary of the first time he said he loved me."
"Oh, Molly," her sister whispered, kissing her forehead.Â
"He set this shit up before he left!" she wailed. "I don't even know what he's doing today, because I haven't talked to him in a week. A week! And now I interrupted you having sex, and I can tell Bradley's mad at me."
"He's not mad at you, Molly. He just thought you were a burglar or something."
"I'm sorry," she moaned, holding the flowers tight as her sister rested a hand on her belly.
"Stop apologizing. You can stay with us until Bob gets back."Â
Molly tried to shake her head, but she was led upstairs. She wasn't exactly sure what her sister and Bradley said to each other, but a moment later, Bradley kissed her on the forehead before he went down the hallway alone.
"Come on," her sister coaxed, and Molly climbed into bed with her. "You've been alone for too long. It's not good for you."
Molly dozed off to the sound of her sister's voice and soft breathing, clutching one gas station flower as she fell into the best sleep she'd had since Bob left.Â
---------------------------------
Bob was anxious to FaceTime with Molly. It had been two weeks since he heard her voice. Now it was a few days after Halloween, and he managed to log into his email for long enough that he saw a photo of her with her sister, Bradley, and Everett, standing in front of an enormous inflatable pumpkin. They looked like they were dressed as a ragtag baseball team. He scrolled down in his email to find more photos of Molly.Â
It appeared that she was no longer staying at the condo, which had him really concerned. But then he saw a photo of how big her baby bump had gotten. And then there was a photo of her and Everett wearing 3-D glasses and making faces. And then there was a photo of Molly completely naked and pleasuring herself.Â
Bob nearly dropped his phone on the metal grating of the midship deck. She was going to be the death of him. If he didn't die from lack of sleep, he would die falling overboard after his phone. Either way, it would be mostly her fault, because he couldn't stop thinking about her. His body was aching for her hands to touch him. When the wind blew, it felt like her fingers in his hair, and for a second his heart leapt.Â
He was lovesick. That had to be it. He never thought this was a real ailment before, but even his heart seemed to be beating to the rhythm of her name. He could picture her when he closed his eyes. He simply missed her to the point of sickness.
And the baby. Bob missed cradling her belly in his hands until he felt a kick. He missed the way Molly would walk around talking to the unborn child about her day at work, as if it was an adult. He missed the ultrasound photos that he's put in chronological order on the refrigerator. He thought up baby names all day long. He had two countdowns going: one to the day he could see Molly again, and one to the due date in March.Â
He jumped when he felt a hand on his back. "There you are." He turned to see Annamarie looking him up and down. "You look nice in your flight suit."Â
Bob swallowed hard. He nearly forgot he was about to fly a mission. He wondered briefly if Annamarie had come out here to find him. "Thanks," he murmured, suddenly sick to his stomach over the thought of how many times Annamarie had touched him. It was innocuous. She knew about Molly and the baby. And Bob was just Bob. Nothing special. She'd provided him some comfort late at night when he was too lonely to go to sleep. That was all.Â
But, sometimes she looked at him like she wanted to keep touching him. And he should have said something by now, but it would have been embarrassing. He was misreading the cues. He was just overly sensitive without Molly here to accept all of his love and feelings.Â
He loaded into the Super Hornet and got to work. This is why he was here. This is what he was good at. This mission should exhaust his brain enough for him to fall asleep.
But when he landed back on deck as the sun was setting, he knew he didn't stand a chance. His mind drifted, wondering where his girlfriend was. Wondering if the baby was okay. He was only fooling himself when he thought he'd be able to sleep. So he finished reading another book from the lounge and decided to return it. There were only a handful of nights left now. He'd make this his last visit to the lounge.
When he walked in, it was just Annamarie as usual. He was going to put the book away and tell her goodnight. He was going to tell her he didn't want her to touch him, and he was going to say goodnight. But then she met him halfway, and her hands were warm on his chest through his undershirt. And her lips met his, somehow soothing him and making everything worse at the same time.Â
Bob jumped back instantly. "No," he gasped. "No. I was supposed to tell you not to touch me. Why did you do that?"
She took a step closer to him as he wiped at his lips with his fingertips. "I think there's definitely something here," she whispered, gesturing between their bodies. "Right?"
"No," he gasped again, ready to cry now. He looked down at the gray sweatpants Molly got for him and his undershirt which was a little stretched out from her wearing it over the bump last month. "You're going to ruin everything."
Now Annamarie rolled her eyes. "Why did you keep coming here to see me if you didn't want to take this back to one of our bunks?"
Bob was going to throw up. This sort of thing had never happened to him, and he wasn't even remotely prepared for it. "That's the farthest thing from my mind, Annamarie. You must know by now that I'm absolutely dying to get back home to my Molly and the baby. I'm lonely for them."
"It was worth a try," she whispered bitterly. "You're sweet. You're too good for her."
As she walked out of the lounge, Bob cradled his face in his hands. What was he going to do? If Molly wouldn't hear him out and accept his apology, what the hell was he supposed to do?
---------------------------
Molly got into, well, a lot of bad habits while she stayed with her sister and Bradley. She ate all the Halloween candy. She accidentally got Everett asking for a pet. She didn't clean up after she did arts and crafts with her nephew. But perhaps the worst habit was the fact that she would sneak across the hallway and slide into Ev's bed for about a half hour each night after Bradley and her sister went to their room.Â
"Hi, Aunt Molly," Ev whispered, lifting up the covers so she could climb in next to him. "Uncle Bob comes back tomorrow. Are you excited?"
She kissed his cheek and squeezed him as tight as she could with her belly in the way. "Ev, I'm so excited! I can't wait! I can't wait!" She was trying to be quiet, but she was overjoyed. The only contact she had with him in the last ten days was an eight paragraph email gushing about how much he loved her and wanted to be with her forever. She received it last night and read it so many times, it felt like she was floating on a cloud.Â
"I missed Uncle Bob, too," Everett said. "I'm happy he'll be back in time to come to my adoption day."
God, this kid was so excited to be officially related to Bradley, it was almost comical. "At least someone thinks he's cool," she muttered. But she didn't mean it. Bradley had welcomed her here as much as her sister had. In his own way. Even his teasing had nothing behind it anymore. She had worn him down. He not only loved her now, he also liked her.
"Ev? Do you think I'll be a good mom?" she asked softly, holding her breath for his answer. Kids were so honest, there was a chance this might hurt.
"You already are," he said through a yawn.
She rubbed her belly and asked, "What do you mean?"
Ev snuggled in a little more against her. "You always take care of me and love me. You like, do the same stuff my mom does, but actually in a funner way. And you were there before my dad got here. You already do all the mom stuff."
Molly cried herself to sleep in a twin bed with her nephew, but her heart was full. And the next morning, she was up and ready to go before anyone else.Â
"What the hell is happening?" Bradley asked when he walked into the kitchen to see Molly making breakfast. "Is this the Twilight Zone?"
She rolled her eyes. "If it was the Twilight Zone, I wouldn't tell you it was. And besides, everything would be in black and white."
"You're so annoying," he said, patting her on the head as he went to pour some coffee. "You're finally leaving today, right? Back to being Bob's problem instead of mine?"
"Har, har, har," she said, flipping some pancakes that looked slightly inedible. "You should be thanking me right now. How many times did I take Everett out so you could fuck my sister?" she asked, glaring at him. "Hmm?"
"Yeah," he conceded with a grin. "That was pretty nice of you."
"I'll send you my Amazon wish list. My birthday is in a few weeks."
He shook his head and walked away, but not even the turd-in-law could dampen her mood. Her body was thrumming, just knowing she'd have Bob's cock in her before the end of the day. And the baby was kicking like he knew he'd get to hear his dad again soon.
But being back on the dock again later that morning made her more anxious than she anticipated. She could remember the sick feeling inside when she said goodbye to Bob. She needed to touch him right now. He would take all of the icky feelings away. And then he'd make her feel so good.Â
She was wearing a little dress that showed off her bump. Her makeup looked perfect. She'd switched the silver barbells for the ones with the glasses charms. The plan was to take Bob home, suck his dick as many times as he wanted, fuck him in their bed, and then take him to her sister's for dinner. The perfect day. She was about to have the perfect day.Â
But then she saw him. And oh, he looked terrible. Suddenly that eight paragraph email was pressing down on her like a weight. Like a warning. Like an ending instead of a beginning.Â
"Bob?" she called out, shuffling forward to meet him. He didn't look happy. Why wasn't he happy? There was a woman glaring at Molly from the other side of the ramp like she wanted to physically hurt her. And Bob looked upset. "Bob?"
"Molly," he sighed, his face looking devastated. But she needed him, so she cautiously wrapped her arms around his neck. "Mo, Honey." His face was buried against her neck, and finally she felt whole again.
"We missed you so much," she whispered, kissing his jaw and raking her fingers through his hair. "Bobby, I love you."
He was crying.Â
"What's wrong?" she asked, pulling away from him and holding his face in her hands. His pretty greenish-blue eyes met hers, and she waited for him to speak. Because this was the silence she could deal with. She could probably deal with anything now that he was here.Â
"Molly, I love you more than anything," he said, letting his big hand rest softly on her bump. "I don't want anything or anyone besides the three of us." His voice was shaking as he cried.Â
"You're scaring me, Bob. What is going on?" she demanded, brushing his hair back from his forehead.Â
"A woman kissed me a few days ago."
Molly gasped as her stomach lurched. "Who? Why?"
"Another officer," he said miserably, and Molly knew she was going to be sick. "I couldn't sleep at all, because I missed you so much. She was kind to me. Or that's what I thought. All I did was talk about you and the baby. I didn't think I was encouraging her."
Molly squeezed her eyes shut tight as tears leaked out. That's why the woman was glaring at her. "Are you leaving me?"
"Mo!" he gasped so loudly that her eyes snapped open. His hands were on her back, pulling her closer until there was no room between them. "Never! I told you I want forever. I want forever!"
"I don't understand," she said. He was acting like he didn't want to let her go, like he was afraid she was the one who was going to run away.Â
He kissed her forehead over and over before he said, "She was making me uncomfortable after a while. I was getting ready to tell her. And then she kissed me. And it meant nothing to me, Molly. Nothing. I just want you."
"Did you kiss her back?" she asked, needing to know.
"Of course not," he swore.
"And it was just one kiss?"
"It only lasted a second," he said. "Then I reminded her that I'm in love with you."
Molly sighed deeply. "She made you feel uncomfortable?"
"Not at first. But later on, yes. Nothing like this has ever happened to me. Women don't do this kind of thing to guys like me."
"Guys like you?" she asked softly. "You mean perfect men? Bob, you're exactly the kind of guy this sort of thing happens to, because you're the kind of guy every girl wants."
He was breathing deeply, pressing more kisses to her forehead. "Molly. Can you forgive me? Please tell me you can forgive me for not saying something to her sooner. Or I won't be able to live with myself."Â
She examined his face. He looked distraught and sick. The dark circles under his eyes let her know he was telling the truth about not getting enough sleep. He was holding onto her so tight, it almost hurt. But it was so obvious that he was telling her the truth. It was plain to see that this was eating him up inside.Â
"I can forgive you."
Molly ran her fingers along his cheeks, wiping away his tears and kissing his lips softly. He chased her for another kiss and another. Bob devoured her and made her feel whole again. "I can't lose you. Ever," he whispered against her lips. "You're the love of my life."
"Bob," she gasped before kissing him silly. She kind of hoped that the other woman was watching, but she kind of didn't care at all. She didn't belong here with them. She didn't belong where Molly was.
"You know, I think maybe the gray sweatpants were too powerful," Molly mused as she wrapped her arms around him. "You really have no idea how attractive you are, do you?"
Bob just shrugged. "It doesn't matter. There's only you."
She kissed him as she wrapped her hands around his biceps. He was husband material. She knew that. She'd known it all along. "That's very flattering, Coach Cute Glasses."Â
"It's the truth." His lips found hers again, and Molly let herself enjoy the feel of him. But then he said, "Molly, it might help if I was wearing a wedding band in the future."
"Oh," she gasped. It was like he could read her mind. But she wasn't fully prepared for another overwhelming conversation right now, so she laced her fingers with his and led him to her car.Â
"Will you let me spend the rest of the day showing you how much I missed you, Honey?"Â
"You better."

You are not alone
Trigger warning â ïž âŒïž Suicide attempt
Today was nice beautiful day of the troll village.
Poppy,Viva and the others are setting up party for Veneer living with them since he and Velvet went their separate ways after prison.
Veneer started to do a solo act of sing without a trollâs talent. He was proud for making progress for himself having a normal live.
Floyd felt guilty of why Veneer left his sister behind after what happened two years ago at the rage dome at Mount Rageous.
Branch in the other hand didnât trust Veneer first until Floyd convince him to be a brother figure to him. Branch finally accepted Veneer and starts being protective to him.
Bruce and Brandy liked Veneer as their son. They always invite him to the Vacay island to spend time with them and the kids.
As for Clay. Heâll always tell Veneer to come join his sad book club. Of course Veneer joins his club.
Poppy and Viva are sister figures to Veneer. They would make candy bracelets and eating them. They also have themselves a sleepovers whenever Veneer feels down due to his mental health.
Lastly John Dory and Delta show Veneer around what live for a family is.
This is going to be the best party ever Viva said letting out her excitement
You got that right sis Poppy replied adding the final touch of glitter.
Hey girls Clay said crying after reading his sad book.
Clay sweetie have you been reading sad stories again? Viva asked wiping his tears.
Yes Clay replied giving Viva a kiss on the cheek. Viva couldnât help but blush.
Poppy smirked as she used her tail to come down.
I see you and Clay are dating Poppy said.
Yeah we are Viva replied giving Clay a kiss on the cheek.
No idiot youâre supposed to mix the butter Delta yelled.
No itâs said mix it after sweetheart John replied. As the couple started arguing for no reason.
Floyd and Branch rolled their eyes.
Say whereâs Veneer by the way? Viva asked
He said he was getting some fresh air but he hasnât came back yet Floyd replied starting to get worried.
Iâll fine him Branch said exiting the castle to find Veneer.
Few hours later
Veneer where are you? Branch yelled still no sign of Veneer.
Veneer Branch said repeating his name over and over again but no response.
Veneer Branch repeated again until he finally found Veneer standing on the cliff.
Oh no Branch gasped as he quickly ran towards him.
Itâs all my fault Veneer said crying as he kept walking towards the cliff.
No itâs your fault Veneer Branch said trying to use his words wisely.
It is I hurt Floyd and my sister hates me, you hate me so Iâll be okay to die anyways Veneer said taking a few steps of the cliff.
Branch gasped as he used his hair to climb on the tree and stopped Veneer.
Veneer fell on the ground.
No please let me die I donât deserve to live Veneer said trying to get up but no use.
No I wonât let you Branch replied getting on Veneerâs shoulder.
Why? Veneer asked as tears started to form again.
Branch took a deep breath and started to sing a song to calm Veneer down
Branch đ¶đ€
Another day has gone
I'm still all alone
How could this be?
You're not here with me
You never said goodbye
Someone tell me why
Did you have to go?
And leave my world so cold
Everyday I sit and ask myself
How did love slip away?
Something whispers in my ear and says
That you are not alone
I am here with you
Though you're far away
I am here to stay
But you are not alone
I am here with you
Though we're far apart
You're always in my heart
But you are not alone
'Lone, 'lone
Why, 'lone
Just the other night
I thought I heard you cry
Asking me to come
And hold you in my arms
I can hear your prayers
Your burdens I will bear
But first I need your hand
Then forever can begin
Everyday I sit and ask myself
How did love slip away?
Something whispers in my ear and says
That you are not alone
I am here with you
Though you're far away
I am here to stay
But you are not alone
I am here with you
Though we're far apart
You're always in my heart
But you are not alone
Whisper three words and I'll come running
And girl you know that I'll be there
I'll be there
That you are not alone
I am here with you
Though you're far away
I am here to stay
But you are not alone
I am here with you
Though we're far apart
You're always in my heart
For you are not alone (You are not alone)
For I am here with you (I am here with you)
Though you're far away (Though you're far away)
I am here to stay (You and me)
For you are not alone (You're always in my heart)
For I am here with you
Though we're far apart
You're always in my heart
For you are not alone
Not alone, oh
You are not alone
You are not alone
Say it again
You are not alone
You are not alone
Not alone, not alone
If you just reach out for me girl
In the morning, in the evening
Not alone, not alone
You and me
Not alone
Oh, together, together
Gotta stop being alone
Gotta stop being alone
Veneer began to cry as Branch started to wipe his tears.
Donât cry Veneer youâre not alone me,Poppy, and the others were here for you youâre part of the family now Branch said gently.
Thank you Veneer said wiping his tears and getting up.
Now come on we have a surprise for you Branch said smiling.
Okay Veneer said as he walked away from the cliff and headed home where he belongs.

For the character ask game, 2 and 5 for Grant Emerson?
Hi, thank you for the ask!!!
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
He's just an absolute dork and I love him for it. Here's some of my favourite examples:
He has rules for how to be popular at school, one of which is just "get on a team, doesn't matter what team, just get one one, that's what the popular kids in movies do, right? Get on teams?"
Knocks down literally Metallo on day one of discovering his powers. Response: that's so cool!
He's such a dork. I love him.
What a little shit (affectionate)
The "I'M OKAY!" trope will always be golden to me
Sits on the floor despite there being way more than enough room for him on the sofa. Also like father like son, Grant and Roy unable to sit normally.
Forcibly hushed by Donna
Look at their faces!!! Toni and Grant are such an underrated duo. Babies.
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd. Please, leave that kid alone.

Raymona's eyes went wide with shock when she heard that The Hunter was going after not only the other Rayman, but their son. They would quickly begin their escape of the facility. Once they made it back to Globox's van, the blue toad would start driving as he followed the directions of the imposter Rayman.
They would find another secure facility. The imposter Rayman would leave the laptop and would activate all the locks they needed to pass. They would approach a giant super computer of some kind in one of the locked rooms. Strangely, there didn't seem to be very many people inside. It was almost bare, possibly due to the highly secure locks that seemed to only unlock by the imposter Rayman's control.
The ex-voice would begin typing, and they would see something pop up on the giant screen. They could see Bullfrog leading them to a walled city in the distance. The "camera" would turn and they could see Theo holding the camera person's hand. They realized they were looking through the eyes of the twin Rayman. Theo would smile up to his uncle and points over to the walled city in the distance.
"Uncle Rayman? What is that city in the distance?"
"...Bullfrog? That's Utopia, isn't it? You were taking us to Utopia?"
"Correct.
Murfy ordered me to bring you and Theo here secretly. We are within the city limits. Eden cannot touch you without getting the attention of the city. It was the safest place for all of us. Floyd has already traveled ahead and is waiting for us there. The Mayor has already made arrangements for living quarters. We're so close. Let's go!"
They began to run towards the walled city. They were so close now! They were almost home free, but they would soon hear a scream and Rayman would feel something tug on his hand with force. He would turn to see The Hunter holding Theo up by his arm.
Raymona would scream Theo's name as she was forced to watch The Hunter take their son. She would start to panic as she made a grab for her phone and began speed dialing someone. Ramon could make out the name "Ales" through Raymona's paniced cries as they continued to watch the confrontation. The Hunter would continue to hold the writhing child up by his arm as they hissed at the two smaller adults.
"By order of The Emperor, I am here to place you all under arrest. Surrender, or face the consequences."
Rayman would respond by drawing his gun, Bullfrog would also release the blades within his wrist bracers, the two were ready for a fight. The Hunter started to cackle as he saw the display of hostility.
"I warned you!"
The Hunter would begin to beat the child severely. This would cause Rayman to drop his weapon and he began to scream and beg for The Hunter to stop. The scene was getting more and more gruesome. Between the blows from The Hunter themselves, they would also begin to slam the child into the ground over and over.
"LEAVE HIM ALONE! STOP! STOP! I'LL DO WHATEVER YOU WANT! I'LL GIVE MYSELF UP TO EDEN! I'LL BECOME THE VOICE AGAIN! I'LL BE GOOD! I WON'T DO IT AGAIN! I SWEAR!
JUST PLEASE LET MY NEPHEW GO!!!"
They would be interrupted by a voice clearing his throat. They would all turn to see a teensie dressed in a business suit, but also wearing a black jacket that reached his feet. Blue hair on his head. Ramon could hear Raymona cry out that name again in relief. "Ales."
"The Hunter, you are trespassing on Utopia lines. By order of The Mayor of Utopia, turn back now or face the consequences."
"What do you plan to do, little blue secretary man?"
A smirk grew across the teensie's face.
"Oodygay oodygay!"
Dark power began to course through the teensie's hand, balls of purple fire would be fired at The Hunter, one of them grazing their chest. The blow would sear through their armor, exposing the flesh underneath. Green scales? A soft underbelly? Their scales were the same colors as Theo's!
The Hunter was no human, they were a hybrid! A lizard hybrid!!!
Ramon just nuzzled her softly af first, đđđđđđđ đ©đđ đ€đđđđĄđ© đđđ đ đđđĄ đ đđđ đđđđđ, oh this was the đ„đąđđ đŹđŠđąđ„đąđ§đ đźđ©đšđ§ đĄđąđŠ đđ đđąđ§, đ°đđŹđ§'đ đąđ ïč
Or so he thought as he heard the clapping... going into a more protective mode, lifting his hands to shield Raymona from everything, but it seems that she had other plans.
â đłđđ'đ đąđđ đđđđ đđ đđđđđ đ- â
When he saw her approach to him, the limbless lowered his guard sightly but looking around to see if it was a trap but this was strange there it was nothing. Then he doesn't mean harm ïč
As he listens to his grilfriend he saw himself reflected in the fake Rayman he was like him too, lonely, hurt. Casted aside. That was before he could reach to this world... the people changed hm, and now they can change him too.

dancing in the moonlight | robert âbobâ floyd x pilot!reader
summary: an admiralâs daughter gets a confession after receiving unsolicited remarks.
warnings: mentions of drinking/drunkenness, hangman being a dickhead (iâm sorry), small use of y/n
word count: 1.5k
readerâs callsign: Glacier
authorâs note: my first fic??? omg??? just a little warning, english is not my first language, so there will most likely be grammatical errors. however, i strongly believe that everything is a learning experience, so if you see anything that needs improvement, please let me know!
ââââââââââ
Only the best of the best are going.
You dressed up in your decorated khaki uniform and pulled your hair into a low bun.
Drinking? On a night before work? For you, that was a hard no. One man, and only one man, is the sole reason you're going: Bob. You two shared many interests and quickly grew close when you both joined the navy.
You didn't give your feelings for him any thought, until one drunken night when he changed your sheets and helped you clean up after vomiting. It wasn't until the next morning when you had that 'Oh. Oh,' moment when you saw him sleeping on your couch.
It would be an understatement to say that you miss Bob. Itâs been months since you last saw each other. While you stayed in San Diego, he went back to Lemoore. You thought your feelings for him would go away, but, truth be told, they only grew stronger. So, when you found out that he was being called back too, you were over the moon.
"Dad, I'm going to the Hard Deck to meet everyone," you informed your father, Admiral Tom "Iceman" Kazansky.
Proving to your fellow naval aviators that you are just as good as they are, if not better, was a big challenge. Being Ice's daughter sure has its perks, but if there's one thing you stand for, it's achieving something without having someone pull strings for you.
Take care, Y/N, he typed on his monitor. Donât come home with a drunk man, understand?
âYes, dad. Donât worry. I know how to handle dickheads,â you giggled at his remark before kissing him on the cheek and leaving.
A few recognizable people greet you as you walk into the bar. As you move through the sea of mildly inebriated naval aviators, you spot him. The one and only. Robert âBobâ Floyd.
Filled with excitement, you yelled, âRobby!â
Setting his most precious peanuts aside, he turned his head after recognizing your voice. âGlacier! How are you?â he welcomed you with a hug. A tight one. His hands encircled your waist as you wrapped your arms around his neck.
âIâm good. Iâm good,â you reply, still in his embrace. He doesnât see it, but you have a smile on your face that could light up the whole room.
Despite being in uniform, you can feel the warmth emitted by his body. Your hearts parallel to each other. You waited so long for this. The hug lasted for god knows how long, exchanging a lot a few âhiâsâ and âhelloâsâ, and earning stares from almost everyone in the room.
âOh, look,â a southern voice interrupts. âIf it ainât daddyâs little princess.â
Breaking away from the hug, you turned towards Jake Seresin, crossing your arms, your smile disappearing. âHangman,â you greet him in a flat tone.
"Tell me," he grins as he walks closer to you, "how does it feel to have everything served to you on a silver platter? No offense intended.â
Bob knows how much you hate comments like this. He puts a hand on your shoulder, letting you know that heâs there to back you up if you need him to.
âYet somehow, you always manage,â the WSO contested.
âYou know Iâm right,â the blonde counters.
âSeresin. I donât know much about you, but based on how you treat women, I know for a fact that you sleep with one beside you,â you pause. âBut wake up all alone.â
Hearing a few chuckles from Fanboy and Payback, Hangman straightens his back, âSpeaking from experience, Glacier?â
All you managed to blurt out was an annoyed "whatever" because you know better than to satisfy a self-absorbed son of a bitch. Hangman winked at you as he walked away.
âWell he hasnât changed,â Bob complained.
You agreed, âHe definitely hasnât.â
After then, there was a brief moment of silence to let the tension dissipate. You had been looking forward to seeing Bob again for months, only for it to be interrupted by Hangman.
âCan we taââ
Before you could continue your conversation, a chorus of "boo's" and "hey's" filled the bar after someone unplugged the jukebox.
The complaints turned into cheers as Rooster began playing the piano intro to "Great Balls of Fire.â The pilots and the rest of the crowd drew closer to him. All but you. Bob tried calling your name but failed as he got dragged into the clump that is Rooster's audience.
As the crowd sang, you swiftly made your way outside.
Despite how much you detest them, "silver platter" remarks never get on your nerves. You know you're a great pilot; you worked your tail off to get here, but now, you're holding back tears.
Perhaps it's because Hangman is one of the best pilots in the game and he thinks you didn't put any effort to get to your rank. Or maybe itâs because thereâs a hint of truth in what he said. Maybe.
Body numb, you closed your eyes and let out a deep heavy breath. As water began to collect at the bottom of your eye, you feel your head hurt. Your brain is telling you that youâve been holding your tears for too long. Itâs time to let go.
You sat down on the veranda, knees pulled to your chest, sharply sucking in a breath. Training hasnât even started, yet youâre already tired. I donât deserve to be here, you thought.
âHey,â a comforting voice said as you felt a hand on your shoulder.
Bob.
Oh, sweet Bob.
âCome here,â he says, offering his hand to help you stand up. You took his hand, propelling yourself upwards. Seeing your tear-stained face, he took his handkerchief out of his pocket and wiped it down.
âIâm a mess,â you uncontrollably sobbed.
He doesnât say anything. Instead, he took your hands again and pulled you closer to him. Your bodies were so close you could hear his heartbeat.
Inside the bar, the jukebox was plugged in again, and âDancing in the Moonlightâ by King Harvest was now playing.
He placed your right hand on his shoulder and held your left one tight, placing it against his chest. Putting his left hand on your waist, he started swaying slowly.
We get it on most every night
âJust sway to the beat, okay?â Bob said quietly.
When that moon gets big and bright
You stared deep into his eyes. Those bright goddam eyes that are so easy to get lost in. You can see a faint reflection of yourself on his glasses, lightly fogged up by his and your breath.
Itâs a supernatural delight
âBut you hate dancing,â you stuttered.
Everybodyâs dancing in the moonlight
âI know, but thereâs this girl I like, and I think sheâs the only one who can make me dance like this,â he confessed.
Bob, who watched reruns of your favorite show until it became his favorite too, likes you. Bob, who will leave the lights on on the tiny balcony of his apartment to let you know heâs there if you need a place to crash, likes you. Bob, who will place a hand on your shoulder when youâre down, likes you.
Bob, the person you like, likes you back.
And oh so carefully, you lean in. Your lips brush against his a few times, breath fanning across each otherâs faces.
Then, he fully closes the gap between the two of you. Placing your hand on the back of his neck, you pulled him impossibly closer towards you. Your need for him becoming more and more obvious.
His lips are softer than anything you can imagine. It felt like fire. Burning. Igniting. But, it also felt like water. A need. A necessity. Life.
A small gesture, enough to let you know you canât live without him. Enough to let you know heâs yours forever.
When you finally decided to pull away, all of the things you wanted to say to him made their way towards the unknown. You couldnât utter a single word, as if your brain was malfunctioning.
All you needed to say was in that kiss.
âI missed you,â he began.
âYeah. Figured that one out,â you smile, looking at his lips. âI missed you too.â
âââââ-
BONUS!!
It was 2 AM.
Sneaking a boy into your house used to be a piece of cake. Bob tried his best to make as little noise as possible, but he couldnât help but giggle at your current situation. You both felt like high schoolers.
Your room was on the ground floor of your house, meaning you wouldnât have to tip toe for too long. Just as you were about to reach the door handle, Bob froze as a voice gnarled.
Ahem. Your dad.
âAdmiral.â Bob salutes.
âDad, I thought you were already sleeââ
âShh!â Tom silenced you.
He walks closer towards the both of you, your heart beating faster and faster. Much to your confusion, your dad sniffs.
âOh my Gâ,â you laughed as you came to a realization. âHe is not drunk!â

5 and 19!!!! Babies with the crew omg too cute
YAAAAAAAAASSSS MY GOD YAAAAS!!!! Ugh I can't pass this one up, I might have to use OC pairings for this since there's quite a few of the crew (lol)
Mirimar: 1932 hrs
Rooster
Rooster was suddenly and abruptly woken by the sound of crying in the hallway, the rushed sound of small feet following in its wake. Fuck me......he thought. Why's it always gotta be when it's hot.....?
Rooster rubbed the sticky grog from his eyes. Two days home from the mission and all he wanted was some fucking sleep. Bad enough that Rusty had a staff meeting with the other preschool teachers, leaving him home with the boys during one of the worst heatwaves San Diego had seen in years.
Rooster threw on a Hawaiian shirt over his shirtless form, his jeans heavy and sticking to his legs like flypaper as he stumbled into the hall to find Nicky a bawling mess.
"What happened little man?" Rooster asked, picking Nicky up and placing him on his hip.
"Petey hit me!" Nicky wailed.
Now Rooster was really going to get a headache. "Peter Thomas!" he bellowed.
Pete came running from his room barely a split second later, roused by the sound of his father's voice and a sheepish look on his face.
"What'd Mommy and I tell you about hitting your brother?"
"I didn't," Pete insisted.
"Don't lie to me bud," Rooster told him. "I know you. Now tell me the truth."
"Nicky stole my blankie."
Rooster bit his lower lip and tilted his head to the ceiling. Now he had really had enough. "Alright you two," he said. "Get your sandals on."
"Where are we goin Daddy?" Pete asked.
"Don't ask, just get your sandals on."
Rooster did his best to help get the boys feet into their sandals. Whoever said having three-year old twins would be easy, was clearly lying through their teeth.
Phoenix
"Gabriel William Rossington! I said get in bed!"
Gabe went running straight back to his bed, Natasha letting out an exasperated sigh. "Cole I swear this kid is nocturnal," she said.
"Why won't he sleep this time?" Cole asked on the other end of the phone.
"It's hot," Natasha told her husband. "They sent the kids home at nine this morning because of the heat, the ac is on but it's not doing jack shit to cool off in here."
"I'm coming home in two days," Cole told her. "I'll try and fix it when I get back."
"Please," Natasha groaned. "Even if you have to fake getting dysentery."
"I'll do what I can Babe," Cole assured her.
Natasha had been about to say something when she felt Gabe tugging at the leg of her board shorts. One look down at the black haired, brown eyed four-year old and an idea suddenly bloomed in the back of her brain.
"Babe?" Cole asked. "You still there?"
"Yeah," she answered. "Hey listen, I'm gonna let you go. I think I found a solution to the problem."
They both bade each other farewell as Natasha plugged her phone into the wall outlet in the kitchen. "Ok little man," she said. "You wanna go swimming with Mama?"
Gabe made a panting noise, doing his best imitation of Scooter, the family dog. "Yeah, yeah, yeah!!!" he blurted out.
"Go get your shark shirt."
Gabe darted off to his room, leaving his mother alone in the sweltering living room. "Thank you God," she groaned.
Bob
"Repeat that back to me again son......slowly," Joe Floyd said, his voice echoing from the speaker phone on Bob's phone.
"I tried running Auggie a cold bath to cool him down but a pipe burst and left three homes without water," Bob explained. "Mine included."
"You've gotta be shittin' me," Joe said in disbelief.
"And they still haven't gotten it fixed," Bob said as he adjusted three year old August, holding him in the crook of his arm against his hip. "But then again it's Navy housing."
"Hah!" Joe laughed. "Probably hasn't changed since I was a pilot during the Gulf Wars."
A pained cry escaped August's throat, the poor kid's cheeks a deep red and his skin alarmingly hot. "I know buddy, I know," Bob murmured, kissing his son's forehead. He heard Joe laugh a little bit on the other end.
"What?" Bob asked him. "What the hell's so funny?"
"You wouldn't remember," Joe told him. "But about eight months after you were born, I was stationed at Top Gun and we had a heatwave. I remember you howling your head off from how hot it was, so I picked you up out of your crib and went for a swim in the ocean with you."
Bob scrunched his eyebrows together, wondering exactly what his dad was getting at. "Dad are you giving me ideas?" he asked.
"No I'm trying to give you an air conditioner," Joe said sarcastically. "What the fuck do you think I'm trying to give you?"
Bob laughed as another pained cry escaped August's throat along with a cough. "Ok, I'll talk to you another day, Dad," Bob told him. "I gotta go."
"Call me in the morning and let me know how it goes," Joe said before hanging up.
Bob stuck his phone in the key dish on the table next to the sofa. "Alright little man," he said. "You're getting a sea bath tonight."
*********
The roar of the ocean was music to Rooster's ears as the boys followed him down into the sand, the sunset beginning to linger on the horizon. He picked one up in each arm, wading into the water and letting it soak them as they went a bit further towards the rocks. God this spot had alot of the gang's best memories, secret swims, first dates with the significant others, swimming during the wedding receptions.....God, the spot had even been where the kids were conceived.
Rooster clipped their small life jackets onto each of the boys, letting them swim just a bit further than they usually did, even letting them swim in the shallows without the vests. He leaned against one of the rocks, letting his legs float in the water while the boys stuck close by, spreading his arms across the rocks, until he caught sight of a pair of familiar faces.
"Phoenix!" he called out. "The hell you doing down here?"
"Gabey no sleepy," she replied, jokingly. "Make room, I'm coming in."
Gabe and the boys splashed around in the tidal pools while Aunt Natasha joined Rooster in the water. "Well, well," Phoenix remarked as Hangman and the girls sauntered through the sand. "Bagman's brood rides again."
"Ha ha, very funny Ma Bird," Hangman answered before turning his attention to Missy and Molly, the red-headed twin girls. "Alright my wild Indians, go play!!!"
Missy and Molly took off towards the tidepools before Hangman dropped the towels and his shirt close to Rooster's things. "Thank God we're near the ocean," he sighed. "Fuckin pipes still haven't been fixed."
"Oh you to?" Phoenix joked.
"Yeah," Hangman answered. "Baby On Board's got it bad too."
"Oh speak of the devil," chuckled Phoenix.
Down to the shore he came with August who held onto Bob's hand until Bob gave him a nudge to go and join his cousins. "So fucking hoooooootttt!!!" he groaned.
"Then take your shirt off!!!!" the others playfully joked.
Bob smiled and shook his head, pulling his shirt off with one hand, the others howling and laughing as Bob rushed into the water, letting out a long, obscene groan as he sank into the cool ocean. "Oh it feels so good," he sighed.
"Yaaas my friend, yaaas!!" Phoenix laughed. "We were wondering if you'd show up."
"Whatever can get Auggie to go to bed, I'll do it," Bob said lazily.
Soon the others began to arrive in quick succession. Payback looked exhausted, hardly concerned with how frizzy Geneva and Neveah's hair looked or how far ahead they were running to greet their cousins. Coyote wasn't very far behind, carrying Tiago while Carla and Paloma rushed for the other kids while a few steps behind was Fanboy with Isabella, the smallest of the kids, her pitch black hair tied behind her little head in a neat braid.
"Shit man," Payback groaned as he waded into the water with the others. "I love and hate nights like this."
"What happened?" Rooster asked.
"I broke two combs trying to do the girls' hair," Payback explained. "Aasha's gotta work late and the power went out."
A collective "Ew" rang throughout the group. "Well," Rooster said. "At least it's a good night for a swim."
"Now all we need is the Captain," Coyote laughed.
"You spoke too soon!" Hangman said loudly as a grin crawled across his face.
Maverick waved to the rest of the gang as Danny and Thomas barreled towards their cousins. "Didn't think you'd see me after training, did you?!" he greeted.
At last the circle was complete, the entire gang together, the cousins able to play and tire themselves out. As it began to grow dark, the heat still lingered, the kids running in and out of the water while their dads, or in Phoenix's case, mom, taught them to hold their breath underwater. Phoenix took a video of Bob with Auggie in his arms, practically dancing in the water, to send to Moira when she came home later that night. Despite all the heat, all the hell they had been through that day, a night swim was well worth it.

Warnings: Graphic violence, murder, blood, kidnapping, language, killing spree, use of weapons, a darker Rick, PTSD, childhood abuse, interrogation
âHey Flag, I found her,â Economos states through a straw, looking at the screen as the red light blinks a signal of your location.
âWell, where the hell is she?â
âSome dust ball called Texola, Oklahoma? Why the fuck would someone take her there?â Rick goes rigid at the mention. Why would someone take her there? Unless, unless they are after him. Clenching his jaw, his nostrils flare as he eyes the screen.
âAlright, Iâm gonna get the team.â
âWallerâs not gon-â
âI donât give a fuck. Iâm going after (Y/N).â
âBoy, you better get your ass back in here,â Rickâs father threatens, a leather belt wound up in his hands.Â
âRichard, please, leave him alone,â Rickâs mother steps between her husband and her son to try to alleviate the tension in the room.
âGet out of the way, woman. Boy over here needs to be punished.â
âIt was just a B, dad. I was the highest score too!â Rick frantically looks around, looking for cover from his fatherâs wrath.Â
ââJust a Bâ,â he mocks, harshly gripping Rickâs arm causing the younger man to wince. âNo son of mine gonna get a B,â he roars before bringing the belt down on Rickâs rear end.
Rick is snapped back to reality by Harleyâs nagging.
âHey Flag, whatâs gotcha day dreaminâ?â She slots herself down next to Rick, swinging her legs as Rick sighs.
âHarley, Iâm not in the mood.â
âHe just missing his piece of ass I reckon,â Digger jokes, fiddling with his boomerangs and Rick shoots him a glare. Digger immediately shuts up.
âWho would even take her to this dump? There ainât shit here,â Floyd comments as Harley wraps her bat in barbed wire.
âYa, this is a shit hole.â
âThey took her to get to me,â Rick answers, shutting his eyes, his hands gripping his gun a little tighter.
âBut why here?â
âI grew up here. In 1992 I moved here with my dad and mom because my dad was placed in protective services.â
â5 minutes til drop,â the intercom comes on and Rick looks over the group he gathered. Despite them being criminals, these were the ones he trusted most. Rick cocks his rifle and stands up, turning to them.
âKill anyone who isnât (Y/N),â their eyes widen in shock at their commanderâs command and Harley is the first to snap out of it, standing up and throwing her bat over her shoulder.
âThis gonna be lots of fun.â
----------
âYouâre mistaken, Rick wonât come. He wonât,â you spit the blood out and onto the man, earning a slap across the face.
âIf he is half the man Iâve heard he is, he will,â the man grabs a taser and sticks the end to your neck, the electricity effectively knocking you out.
----------
âAlright, weâll splint into two groups, Deadshot, you and Harley will take the right side. Boomer and I will take the left. We go in together. On my command,â Rick whispers to the team as they nod, preparing for an onslaught. Rick starts creeping in on the building, relatively small and possibly easy to take over; but, Rick doesnât care. All he cares about is you.
âYou're a failure. I can not believe you are my son,â Flag Senior spits, crumpling up the paper and throwing it in Rickâs face as he remains rigid. âYouâll never get into West Point with these grades. Youâll never be anything.â
âHey Flag, Flag,â Diggerâs voice pulls Rick out of his thoughts once he noticed the Colonel had stopped moving. âCome on, mate, snap out of it.â Rick shakes his head, returning his face to the eyesight on his gun. âYo, you good?â
ââm fine,â Digger and Harley share a look across from the field before shrugging it off. Approaching the door, Rick presses his back against the outside wall, motioning for the others to follow suit. âOn one,â he holds his hand up and counts down before kicking in the door, gun up and shooting each person in his way, taking out the henchmen. âDeadshot, get an advantage point.â
âYes boss,â he rushes up the stairs, leaving Harley and Boomerang with Rick.Â
âYou two, watch my six.â He quickly makes his way through the halls, shooting down everyone he comes across.
âWith the way Flag is going, we might not even be needed,â Harley quietly comments to Boomer who only shrugs.
âNo harm done to me,â they continue following Rick down the halls. Coming across a big door, the group slows to a halt. Rick takes a shaky breath.Â
Kicking in the door, Rick surveys the room and sees red. There you are, hanging by your wrists by a chain, beaten and bruised, unconscious and bleeding. âYou mother fuckers,â he grits out, raising his rifle and pressing down on the trigger, using rapid fire to plow down person after person.Â
The gun clicks, a sign showing itâs empty. âShit,â he unholsters his glock and aims at the heads, brains splattering against the wall before his normally hazel eyes, now a dark brown with anger, fall onto the man standing in front of you.
âAh, the famous Colonel Flag. I was wondering when you would come and collect your whore.â
âWhat do you want with me?â
âI want you to pay,â he grins wickedly, pulling out a knife but Rick is quick. He immediately tackles the man and fights him for the weapon.
âFlag, I canât get a clean shot with you on top of him,â Floydâs voice vaguely echoes in the back of Rickâs head, but he doesn't pay attention, nor does he pay attention to the way Harley and Digger just sit idly by, kicking the henchmen after doing nothing.Â
After successfully getting the knife from the man, Rick sits on top, the knife pressing against his throat.
âYou wanted me? You used my girl to get to me? Well now you have me,â Rick seethes, all of his principles, morals, and ethics long gone. He plunges the knife into the manâs side, causing the man to scream. âDidnât think Flag had it in him,â Boomer picks at his cuticles with the edge of his boomerang as Harley watches.Â
âDontcha think we should stop âim?â
âNah.â
âYouâre worthless.â Stab. âYouâll never be anything.â Stab. âYouâll never find love.â Stab. Stab. Stab. Rick stabs the man one more time before rapidly pulling the blade out, the red blood spraying across his face as he leans back and heaves, staring down at the lifeless man.
Wiping off his face, he stands before delivering a kick to the side, throwing the man over the platform before he rushes over to you and yanks the chains down, you falling into his arms.
âDarlinâ? Come on darlinâ, wake up,â he shakes your body as you slowly stir awake.
âRick?â He smiles softly, pressing his lips to your sweaty head.
âHey baby. Itâs okay. Iâm here. Iâm here.â He holds you close and rocks your body, burying his face into your hair as you look around the room.
âWhat happened?â Rick pulls back and looks around the room, slightly appalled by the mess.
âWhat they hell did you guys do?â He gears his questions towards his companions as they laugh,
âWe ainât do shit, mate. That was all you.â
âYeah Flag, I ainât neva seen ya like this.â Rick looks up to Floyd.
âWas this really all me?â The assassin nods, pointing to the man who was holding you hostage. Rick looks over and holds back the bile in his throat. Noticing his embarrassment and horror, you quickly pull his face towards you.
âHey, you did what you had to do to save me. You saved me,â you bury his head in your chest, kissing the top of his hair. âYou saved me, Rick.â
----------
Meanwhile, Waller rewinds the tape with an amused smile plastered on her face.
âI never knew he could be so violent.â Harcourt comments as Waller pauses right over the part where Rick digs the knife into the man.
âNeither did I.â

Nobody Understands
Relationship: Robert âBobâ Floyd x Adelaide âHoneyâ Corbin OC
Fandom: Top Gun: Maverick
Warnings: Fluff, Brief Strong Language
Word Count: 2,110
Part of the Young Love and Old Money Series
Chapter 4//Chapter 6
Main Materlist: Here
Summary: Adelaide detests her birthday. Robert loves his birthday. What happens when they enjoy a celebration together?
January 27th, 2007
One of Robertâs favorite timeâs of the year was around his birthday. He loved the celebration, being able to see all his friends and family at his house, and his mother making his favorite cake for dessert was always a treat. There was nothing that kept him from having a bad mood during this time of year.
On the other hand, Adelaide detested her birthday. Her elder sisters birthday was only a few days away from herâs. Elenor and Priscilla Corbin. Two years her senior, and they never let Adelaide forget that. The twins turned the monumentous sixteen this year. Normally, Adelaideâs birthdays were more toned down compared to her sisters or even or her brothers. Her parents chose to spend their time and effort on her siblings, leaving the scrapes for her. But this year, with her sisters turning sixteen, and eldest brother turning twenty, Adelaide was forgotten.
There was no talk of a party for her, or even a special dinner. She was going to be lucky if she got a âhappy birthday,â from her family. Which is why she was on her way to the treehouse. Her usual Saturday hang out with Robert was going fine, until he started talking about his birthday party. He talked about the cake, people, and presents. The celebration for him sounded wonderful; nothing like Adelaide had experienced. As she got older, she slowly realized that her family lacked the âfamilyâ element that Robertâs family had.
âHoney, are you okay? Youâve been quiet today.â Robert asked, biting into his sandwich while she sat there and nibbled hers. She swallowed the bite before starting nervously.
âItâs nothinâ Robby. Iâm justâŠâ she trailed off, âyour birthday sounds so nice. Iâd much rather that than what Iâm sure mine is going to be.â Robert went to clean his glasses and looked at her confused.
âWhat do ya mean? I thought with all that money, yâall would have awesome birthdays.â Adelaide smiled at his optimism; optimism that she once had.
âYea, youâd think. But my sisterâs birthday is right after mine, and their older. So they get priority. Iâll probably spend the day alone, or maybe Iâll come here.â She shrugged her shoulders casually but Robertâs heart broke.
âWhy donâ you come to my house tomorrow? Weâll have plenty of food and presents. Please, Honey, please?â He begged. He sat on his knees and held his hands out. She started to giggle as Robert kept begging. His smile spread on his face at her laugh.
âOkay! Okay! Iâll come Robby. Iâll come!â Adelaide was finally excited for her birthday.
January 28th, 2007
The Floyd household was in a state of flurry and chaos for today. Officially at noon, Robertâs party was going to begin, and he was determined that today was going to be special for Adelaide. She said she was going to show up around two oâclock. Mindy Floyd watched with a mischievous glint in her eye at her son who was running around.
âBobby, you keep runninâ âround like a chicken with itâs head cut off and ya gonna make yourself dizzy, baby.â She was safe in her kitchen, baking away while Robert fixed his shirt for the hundredth time.
âSorry momma. But Iâm just nervous.â He wrung his hands together and looked around nervously. His friends were starting to arrive, and his family was helping to finish setting up. Mindy paused her baking.
âWhatcha nervous âbout baby?â She asked, watching her son. He ran to the door and opened it hastily, but dropped a little once he saw it was only his buddy, James, at the door. Robert let himself get distracted with James for a minute before he came back to his mother.
âUmm⊠would you be okay with Adelaide cominâ over today? She um, well- itâs her birthday tomorrow. And her family donât do much for her, so I invited her over so she can at least have some sort of celebration.â His eyes stared at his boots, and didnât witness the look his mother gave him. Her heart swelled with love and pride over her son.
âBaby,â her hand reached out and tilted Robertâs face up, âof course she can come. Ainât nothinâ worse than spendinâ your birthday alone.â Robert smiled at his mother and snapped his head towards the door of the home. He checked his watch: 1:30. He couldnât get his hopes up but he still made his way enthusiastically towards the door.
There she was. Standing in front of the door, was Adelaide. Her hair down, and wearing a gorgeous blue dress. She still wore boots, but Robertâs mind stopped working when he saw her. A long black wool coat and matching stockings provided her some warmth as well. In her hands was a box, and on her face was a smile.
âHey Robby. You gonna let me in?â There was no response. UntilâŠ
âRobert! You better let that girl in right now and close that damn door. Thereâs enough bugs cominâ our way to bait and hook a hundred fish!â Robert snapped out of it and brought his best friend inside. They embraced and Adelaide giggled at him.
âHey Honey. You know you didnât have tâ bring anythinâ right?â He asked, pulling away slightly while holding her arms.
âJust a present for you, Robby.â She moved to place the box on the table with gift bags and other boxes. She made her way around, saying hi to his mother who brought her in close. His siblings greeted her as excitedly as his mother. While he introduced her to his friends and cousins, everyone fell in love with her. He felt happy watching her play with his friends. The card games they brought kept her attention through the afternoon. Mindy stayed busy in the kitchen, watching the pair dance around each other all through the day.
When everyone sat down for dinner, Adelaide couldnât believe how happy she felt all day. Being at the Floydâs house, for her birthday, was the best feeling in the world. This felt like a home. And no one made her feel unwanted or a burden. She enjoyed being able to be with Robert the whole day. She enjoyed the laughter, jokes, and chit chats all around the table throughout dinner. Robert helped his mother bring the cake to the table; fourteen candles blazing on top. Robert sat next to Adelaide as she admired the cake.
âHelp me blow them out, yeah?â He asked, grabbing her hand. She nodded at him and they blew out the candles together. But it wasnât until afterwards that she read what the cake said.
âHappy 14th Birthday to Bobby and Adelaideâ
She was speechless. Adelaide looked to Robert, who smiled and squeezed her hand. She buried her head in his shoulder as she felt tears coming to her eyes. Robert chuckled and rubbed her shoulder with his opposite hand.
âYou alright, Honey?â He whispered in her ear. She nodded even though the tears were coming down. Later that evening, Adelaide and Robert sat in his bedroom while they talked.
âThanks for inviting me, Robby. That was the best birthday I couldâve hoped for.â He smiled and felt pride swell up that he was able to make her day special.
âBefore I forget, I have a present for you.â And he reached underneath his pillow to pull something out.
âMe too.â Adelaide did the same thing, and grabbed the box that was beside her from where she took it off the table.
âLadies first.â Robert said, passing the box. He looked like a kid on Christmas when he gave her the present.
âOkay.â Adelaide opened the box and was stunned. Actual emerald earrings and a matching necklace.
âI know it ainât much. But I saw it at the store and thought that would make up for the other necklace I gave you a while ba-â he let out an oof as he was tackled onto his bed. Adelaideâs arms were wrapped around his neck, still holding the box in her hands.
âOh thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Robby!â She let him up and stared at the shiny gems yet again. Carefully, she took the necklace out and held it up for the boy.
âHelp me put it on?â He obliged and took the necklace out of her hands. Robert delicately draped the necklace across her skin and joined the clasp, when he noticed another necklace already there.
âYou kept it?â He asked quietly. Adelaide felt her neck heat up and prayed that Robert didnât notice.
âUmm⊠yeah. I kinda never took it off.â She admitted shyly. Adelaide felt arms come around the middle of her torso and squeeze her into the warm body behind her. She smiled and relaxed into him for just a moment.
âOkay Robby. Your turn.â She turned slightly in his arms to place the gift in his hands. He kept his arms around her, sing her shoulder to prop his chin on and opened the gift in his lap. It was a picture frame. With his favorite Polaroid of them. The picture in question was taken not too long ago. Adelaide had been hangin gout at the Floyd house as she became prone to doing now, and his mother took her Polaroid camera and snapped a picture of both of them playing a card game. Yo couldnât even make out what game it was but you could clearly see how happy the two were. Robert insisted that she keep the picture for herself, claiming that he would get another one of them to keep.
âI got it photo copied so I have that one. Thatâs the original.â She watched his face closely to see any signs of upset but found none.
âHoney thatâs so sweet. I just⊠IâŠâ As he trailed off, he noticed how close their faces were in that moment. His cheeks flushed red and his glasses fogged up a little. Adelaide giggled but made no move to leave. They didnât know how long they sat there. Couldâve been a minute, an hour, or several hours. Robert was just enjoying memorizing Adelaideâs face. As if someone compelled him to do so, Robert started to move closer and closer. Adelaide still didnât run; a song as he wasnât going crazy, he was sure she was leaning in too.
âBobby! Itâs gettinâ late. You need to take Addie home, baby.â The teens were startled away from each other at the sound of Mindyâs voice in the living room. They looked back at each other and chuckled, but obliged his mother and began the walk home. Not before Mindy giving Adelaide a big hug and telling her to come back soon.
A standard walk for the two. Except they were going the opposite was then usual. Robert brought his bike but wasnât planning on using it until he had to turn around and go home. They saw the house approach and felt the mood turn somber.
âWell this is me.â Adelaide said, with no enthusiasm. Robert nodded.
âYep.â He said, with the same level of excitement.
âI had a really great day. Thank you Robby for making my birthday special.â Adelaide pulled Robert into a hug.
âThank you for spending it with me.â They let each other go, and Adelaide still placed a kiss on his cheek. But before she could completely disconnect, in a moment of blind will, Robert grabbed her arm and pulled her back, placing a kiss on her cheek. Adelaide was stunned, her cheeks flushed not because of the cold. She smiled at Robert and began the walk back to her house. She stopped before she reached the house and waved goodbye to Robert, earrings glittering in the distance.
Adelaide went inside the house, not looking forward to her unimportant important day tomorrow. But as she got ready for bed, she pulled the photo copied Polaroid out from under her pillow and stared at Robertâs happy face in the film. She fell asleep with picture in hand, jewelry on her person, and Robert on her mind.
Robert made his way back home and was simultaneously kicking himself and giving himself a pat on the back. He couldnât believe that he kissed her. Granted it was on the cheek but he couldnât believe that he did that. Shy little Robert Floyd was slowly turning into a man. When he fell asleep that night, he held the ornate frame close to himself. There were vines wrapping around the frame, like the pendant he had given her a couple years ago. Everything was perfect. Nothing could go wrong.

TWST FAMILY HCS PT2) Savanaclaw and Octavinelle
Feel free to tack on your own Hcâs too!!! I love reading what other people think and how their view of the characters and of Twisted Wonderland in general change from person to person!!!
Savanaclaw:
Leona:
-Farena: We already know Leona describes his brother as being carefree and relaxed, but deep under that I think heâs a deeply intelligent man (how can you run a kingdom and be stupid?). He tries his best to make time in his schedule for his wife and child, and even try to get bonding tike with his younger brother (which never works out well). He tries to teach Cheka as much as he can, often giving him little life lessons while they play games. Heâs a very kind and straightforward man, often being blunt when he doesnât mean to. He stands a little taller than Leona, with Orange hair similar to Chekas. He keeps his hair tied out of his face as much as he can.
-Sister-in-law Kingscholar: A strong and confident woman, not afraid to speak her mind when she wants to. Sheâs blunt and sheâd let you know about it. Sheâs also very kind in her own way, often dragging Leona off and trying to have serious talks with him, which he appreciates but doesnât show. She adores Cheka and often spoils him without meaning to, and will spoil Leona too (but indirectly in a way similar to Aceâs fatherâs). Also very intelligent and good at reading people. I think she stands a little shorter than Leona, but she holds herself higher, and he slouches, so it looks as if theyâre the same height. She has long yellow hair (again, similar to the ends of Chekaâs) that she often ties back as well.
-Cheka: We already know him, so heres a few Hcs!: He sometimes asks his mother to do his hair the same way as Leonaâs, and tries to do everything like him (such as standing like him, trying to deepen his voice to sound like him, throwing sand at various objects in the castle yelling âKingâs Roar!!â)
Ruggie:
-Grandma Bucchi: As he said himself, a stern and prideful woman. I think sheâd be on the stricter side, having to teach Ruggie how to survive rather than him having to face those hard truths alone. She likely stands a lot shorter, likely 5â0 (sorry to anyone whos that height), than most other beastwomen. Sheâs a lot physically stronger than she looks, often still trying to pick Ruggie up at his age. She tries to spoil him when she can, trying to make him relax after working and taking over the household chores (which he declines, still cleaning up when sheâs not looking- which earns him a smack to the head with a broom). Sheâs also a prankster, quietly jumping out from corners and scaring Ruggie or one of the other children. I think she feels a lot of regret over seeing Ruggie grow up so fast in the environment that he had, but sheâs the proudest grandma ever. Whenever he sends pictures back she boasts to everyone at home (âSee that! Thatâs my grandsonâs school! See that there! He plays magift and is one of the best on the team! Look there! Heâs got those nice ceremony robes!â), and even boasts about him with what little baby pictures they have (âSee him walking at such a young age? Isnât he so strong?â) Will never stop talking about her grandson, ever.
-Neighborhood kids: I think theyâre like little siblings to Ruggie, so Iâm adding them. They try to tale over what Ruggie did when he was at home, helping people fix up their houses or entertaining the baby hyenas when their mothers have other things to do. They also leave gifts to Ruggie when he comes back, between little dolls they made, bracelets they thought heâd like, charms, or pretty rocks and leaves. He keeps all of the gifts, no matter how small.
-His mom (bc the poor woman deserves a spot)(Poor meaning unfortunate)(The more i think abt it, both. It means both. Bad time?): I think she looked a lot like him, but with brighter blue eyes than his. She was definitely a prankster at heart, leaving clever traps behind for any poor soul to get stuck in. She was a very hardworker much like her son, taking on any task she could find to help out her mother. I think sheâd try to leave as much behind for Ruggie as she could, which would include little notes and scribbles about how she was feeling throughout her pregnancy and how excited she was for him. Ruggie also kept all of those safe and sound, in a small box he keeps in the corner of his room.
(Can you guess who my fav chara is?)
Jack:
-Grandma & Grandpa Howl: A very loving couple, who always make time out of their schedule for their grandchildren, whether it be for school events, emergencies, or if any one of them want to come by and talk. They met when Grandpa Howl got lost and wandered by Grandma Howlâs familyâs cabin (which happens to be the one they, and the rest of the family, still live in to this day) and he spent the night. I think they fell in love at first sight :â)
-Mama Howl: A very soft and loving beastwoman who is willing to sacrifice anything for her children. She is often strict, and sometimes a chatterbox, but she always reminds her children to stay safe and that she loves them. She always pats their head or cheek when she walks by, even if she has to reach a little to plant a kiss on Jackâs forehead. I think her hair would be a little darker grey, and sheâd definitely be a little more muscular and taller, reaching six ft one when standing straight up. Sheâd have the same yellow eyes as Jack, and her hair would be cropped shorter due to her still moving around a lot.
-Papa Howl: Very similar to Jack personality and appearance wise. He stands an inch or two shorter than Jack, but is still very muscular due to working around the house and in the woods (chopping wood for the campfire, dragging around tools, carrying three wolf pups at a time in his younger days (only one now wants to be carried, which hurts the poor manâs heart a bit)
-Baby brother Howl: Huffy and a little moody, but a hard worker even if he complains while doing it most of the time. Thatâs often with his parents, but when he does something with Jack he doesnât complain a bit. Heâs very attached to his older brother, looking up to him for his strength and strong morals. He often compares him to superheroes and star athletes in his mind, but sometimes it slips out, resulting in one very embarrassed wolf boy and another very flattered wolf boy, ignore their wagging tails, it means nothing. I think he stands pretty tall for a preteen, around 5â7-5â8 and growing taller by the day. Same hair and eye color as Jack. Acts like he doesnât like to play games with his younger sister but will never turn down a game of tag.
-Baby sister Howl: An absolute sweetheart. She just wants the best for her family and will do whatever she can to make what they want happen. Jack is hungry? Good thing she made her special dessert (itâs a poptart with whipped cream messily piled on top with sprinkles and literal sugar cubed wedged in it, but donât tell her you donât like it, please sheâd actually bawl). Her other older brother is tired? She can get him extra blankets! Mama needs help cleaning? She can mop (she really just throws water on the floor and praises herself for a job well done). Papa need to cut wood? She can- no, she canât. Please donât give her an axe. Sheâll cheer him from the sidelines with a song she made up just for him instead! She has their motherâs grey hair and fatherâs dark brown eyes, and loves to do her hair like the princesses she sees on Tv! (Yes, Jack will wear a too-small dress and Tiara if his sister wants to play princess. No, he will not let anyone take pictures.)
Octavinelle:
Tweels:
-Mama Leech: At first glance, a very kind woman with soft eyes. Willing to open her arms to anyone who might need help. Then, a terrifying grin similar to Floydâs as that poor unfortunate soul realizes the trap theyâd been thrown in. Sheâs very kind and patient towards both her boys and husband, as well as their friends (even of she is on guard near their friends, throwing a few hollow threats to see if itâd scare them away)(She doesnât like to share her babies). She dotes on the tweels as much as possible, indulging im whatever curiosity they may have. Floyd wants to know what going through riptide is like? They leave tomorrow to find one. Jade wants to know more about life on land? Sheâll find as many books as possible and ask (threaten) people for their land belongings. She knows when too far is too far though, and is very skilled at reeling the boys back in if they get to that point. Will always call them her little guppies, no matter how big they get. I think sheâd have a teal bob on top, with the underside of her hair being black (which makes her hair look color changing when she swims). Im her human form shes only a few inches shorter than her boys, ranging around the same as Jackâs mother.
-Papa Leech: The definition of old Hollywood New York mob boss. Strict and blunt about his interests and problems, and not afraid to cause any problems if provoked. When the tweels were younger and theyâd wrestle and bite at him, heâd throw them off him easily, telling them they need to work to beat him, even if he was impressed by their teamwork at first. Will die to protect his family, and was likely put in that position many times in the past due to his uh⊠business. He values his wife and children more than anything, and has done everything in his power in the past to protect them from harm. When they went to NRC at first, he felt defeated and almost wanted to beg them to stay safe with him (not that his pride would allow it).(Both the tweels can see through his facade easily)
Azul:
-Grandma âgrotto: A very stern and prim octomermaid. What she says goes in the Ashengrotto house, and she often catches herself making unnecessary comments. She does apologize. Also a very loving grandmother towards Azul, often babying him whenever possible (doing the classic âyouâre not eating enough here take some moreâ grandma move)(She will smooch his face whenever possible when there are no business clients nearby). Tries to boost his confidence since she knew about what was happening to him (Chances are she went through the same thing- being an octomer as well) and dod her best to protect him and make him happy. She taught him how to write with his tentacles and encouraged him to do his best in everything he does.
-Mama âgrotto: Another businesslady in the front absolute softie in the back situation. Adores her son and is incredibly proud of how far heâs come.I think she looks identical to Azul, but more heavyset and, of course, female. She coddled Azul as much as possible, which worked out well with baby Azulâs clingy nature. She had no shame in walking around with the little guy stuck to her (unless he smacked a tentacle to her face when she was working on her restaurant), and made sure everyone knew what a good boy he was. She would show pictures to everyone (similar to Ruggieâs grandma), but respects his wishes in wanting to hide pictures of his past. She still shows anyone who asks pictures of him at NRC (compliments to the twins, who send her updates when her son is busy), and will tell everyone how smart he is and how much heâs grown.
-Step-Papa grotto: A very professional man in every aspect of his life, which stretches to his relationship with his stepson. When he learns about the contracts and Azuls UM, heâs over the moon with how happy he is. He swam around with a little more pep than usual, flicking his tail and flaring out his fins the more and more Azul told him. He helps him reword and format his contracts to his advantage, and is always willing to talk with him about Mostro Lounge or (on rare occasion) some memories before Step papa Ashengrotto met Mama Ashengrotto (which always make him happy that Azul trusts him enough). I think heâd be a pretty generic looking Mer, with an average looking tail and such

NEW AMSTERDAM REACTION
This reaction is for season 4, episode 10Â âDeath is the Rule. Life is the Exceptionâ which originally aired on November 23, 2021. The episode teleplay was written by Marc Gaffen and David Schulner and directed by Allison Liddi-Brown. Spoilers ahead!
I love a good villain. Growing up, I was way more into Gaston and Scar and Ursula than I was the protagonists they were terrorizing. When I was older and got into comics, I found myself championing The Joker and Poison Ivy and The Riddler. As much as I love those characters, none of them hold a candle to New Amsterdamâs Dr. Veronica Fuentes.
I haaaaaaaaaatttttteee Dr. Fuentes which I reckon is the point of her character so kudos to the writers. After the stunt she pulled at the end of the last episode, it was a breath of fresh air not having her around this episode.Â
Casey Acosta, Gladys, Dr. Chang and Dr. Baptiste are still absent. Iâm still crossing my fingers that theyâll come back next year.
Iggy gets flirted with by a hot new psychiatry prospect which boosts his confidence. What I loved is that he felt comfortable sharing this information with Martin who was very encouraging. That confidence is short-lived when Iggy has to deliver bad news to a couple whose son has died as a result of the outbreak in the hospital. What shocked me the most was that Iggy ended up offering the job to the hot new doctor. Iâm crossing my fingers that this doesnât result in chaos in the second half of the season. Iggy and Martin are the most stable couple of the show and I know relationships arenât perfect but theyâve been through so much. Please, writers, just leave them alone!
Now letâs talk about two couples who arenât so stable. Reynolds insists on keeping his relationship with Dr. Malvo going after she attempts to end things. Iâve already talked about my severe dislike of Dr. Fuentes. Malvo is second on my list. I donât like her. Iâve never liked her. I think she is bad for Reynolds. I wish Reynolds would wise up and end things with her and just be single for a bit. Oh well, doesnât look like thatâs about to happen any time soon because Malvo is pregnant which canât bode well for the burgeoning friendship between Reynolds and Baptiste. Sigh.
Bloom finally gets confronted by Leyla who finds out via Floyd that a new position was added to the staff because of Bloomâs monetary donation to New Amsterdam. Even though I love Bloom and Leylaâs relationship, I have to side with Lelya on this. What Bloom did was wrong and the fact that she lied about it has made matters worst. All Leyla has ever wanted was to stand on her own two feet and achieve her own success but now she realizes that Bloom has been working behind the scenes doing it for her. I hope their relationship can survive Bloomâs deceit.Â
Poor Max! Max tries so hard to be a good person but itâs always one step forward, two steps back. Max belongs at New Amsterdam. Max has achieved so much good in the last few years and now that things are such a mess, I really think he needs to stay and fix them. If I were Max, Iâd find it super difficult to leave my friends - Bloom, Iggy and Reynolds - behind to suffer the wrath of Dr. Fuentes. What bothers me is that on some level Sharpe knows that Max needs to stay behind and I keep waiting for her to acknowledge that and give him permission to stay but it keeps not happening. Even tonight, as they were about to get into the cab to leave for the airport, I thought she would tell him to stay but she didnât. I canât decide if she is just oblivious or if she is being selfish. Or maybe she is falling into her old habits which is running away. Well - weâre ten episodes into season 4 and the show is on hiatus until January. The first ten episodes have been great. This show keeps getting better and better. I love that this show draws focus to issues youâd rarely see on television. I love that so many of our patients at New Amsterdam have been POC and a lot of them have been LGBTQ+. I love that the show is not afraid to let itâs protagonist fail and fail often. If this show were made ten, fifteen years ago, Max would be the lovable white savior who never loses. Well, thatâs all I got! This was a great episode. P.S. - Iâm glad Dr. Walsh is okay because heâs one of my faves! Until next time!

Could you do a headcanon for how the dorm leaders and their S/O would react if their kid(s) from the future magically appeared on campus?
I might have gone overboard with this... but at the same time, I feel like I rushed this. Iâm so occupied by work that I have to slowly work on this from midnight to six am before heading to bed then go to work around 10 am for two weeks now... I hope it turned out the way you like it. Yes, the ones with unique magic is inspired with FGOâs Noble Phantasms... Iâm still stuck in that hellhole of a gacha game. I think you can tell who my faves are by the length Iâve written for them XD
Now, letâs enter this twisted wonderland~
âQueenâs Rose Maze!â All five of the Heartslabyul main guys heard. âTraverse in the twisting maze of the Queen of Roses!â
All of them rushed towards the location of the voice only to see a tiny Riddle with (h/c) hair instead.
âWhat did I do?!â Heartslabyul A-kun whimpered as he seemed to be stuck in a rose maze.
âAs stated by the Queen of Heartsâ Rule #186: Never eat hamburg steak on Tuesdays. You just broke a rule and you must be punished.â The kid scolded. âTo think this is what my esteemed father deals with everydayâŠâ
âBy father, I assume that would be me?â
Surprisingly, Riddle seems to take this information in stride. The kid will turn around and his suspicions were confirmed.
The kid will run and hug him asking if heâs doing a good job. He introduces himself and everything Riddle asked, (s/n) answered perfectly.
Well, until you showed up that is.
âMother!â Heâll call out in joy as he bounced towards you.
And there goes Riddleâs composure.
Oh great seven, you two have children?! Is his first thought followed by, We will get married, have children, and be together forever!
While initial surprise caught you off guard, you slowly accepted the fact that you and Riddle are now interacting with your future child.
When he can finally go back to his time his final words made both of you blush.
âFarewell, mother and father!â Heâll wave happily as he disappears. âI have to watch over the twins you two just have after all!â
Wanna try betting whoâs redder? (Itâs Riddle)
Someone â more like two â that is not him or you is on his bed.
Who dares occupy my bed?!
The little girl stirred from her sleep and upon making eye contact with you two sheâll screech in joy.
â(s/n)! Wake up! Mom and Dad are here!â
Both of you flinched both from the high pitch voice and the statement she just made.
The young boy will wake up as well and greets you two in a much calmer way.
Theyâll tell you that someoneâs unique magic transported a bunch of kids to the past and now theyâre here.
Slowly but surely, you both can tell that (d/n) is a daddyâs girl and (s/n) is a mommyâs boy.
You all decided to take a siesta together, with the children in between.
When you both stirred in your sleep, the kids are gone. Thereâs a note stuck on Leonaâs chest saying that they have to return to their time and they enjoy the siesta as always.
âCanât wait to have you two soon.â Leona will mutter as he pulled you to him before going back to sleep.
A girl is crying in the lounge and it's disturbing the customers causing a bunch of complaints, forcing the twins to abandon current tasks to find the girl.
As soon as the girl spotted the twins, she grabs on them. âUncle Jade, whereâs daddy?â
Oh, Jade and Floyd are gonna have a field day with this. They kept questioning the poor girl about everything about her time to the point of scaring her.
âAw, what a cute girl.â Youâll end up cooing.
âMommy!â Tears are forming in her eyes as she hugs your legs tightly. âMommy, Iâm scared.â
â(y/n), I wasnât aware you have a childâŠâ You hear Azul trail off at the news.
Heâs crestfallen on the fact that you have a child already. He will start doubting himself, thinking, of course, your relationship wouldnât last, heâs not good enough, that he didnât realize the kid is running towards him.
âDaddy! Uncle Jade and Uncle Floyd are scaring me again!â
âD-Daddy?!â Heâs so taken aback he fell on his bum.
Jade and Floyd are laughing at his reaction while you just stared back and forth towards the child and Azul.
Ironically this is the time one of Azulâs customers decided to eat and run. Just as he asked the twins to deal with it the kid waved her magical pen.
âEverlasting Summer Spree!â And the guy is now over buying almost everything in the lounge. âSplurge in the joys of summer and shop to the fullest!â
Azul is so proud and started babying her with the very money she earned from one customer alone.
When it's time for her to leave heâs crying⊠which made her cry as well.
Looks like Iâm going to be stuck with crybabies⊠is the only thing you thought of as you smile.
âPapa!â Echoed in the middle of the party that Kalim assembled.
When a young boy tackled him, Jamil was ready to grab the said kid until he noticed their features, and boy did he paled up upon the sudden realization.
âOya, do I remind you of your papa?â Kalim smiled and hugged the kid. âThatâs flattering, kiddo!â
âUh, Kalim you might want to take a real good look on that kid,â Jamil said as he readied to call you on his phone.
When you arrived at the Scarabia dorm, you see Kalim pampering a young boy that has your eyes and complexion. A table full of food, toys, and jewelry scattered around to make the kid happy.
âMama!â The boy called out to you while your brain is trying to process everything.
âIsn't (s/n) so cute! Heâs really smart too!â Your lover kept on praising the kid as he played with Jamil, who looks like he wants to disappear.
Your mom mode instincts kicked in and scolded the two for overdoing things.
They kept saying sorry as Jamil finally got out of the predicament.
When the kid can finally return to their original timeline, heâll give one last hug to the entire Scarabia dormâs students before leaving.
âIâm so excited!â Kalim will tell you with a blinding smile. âArent you excited as well?â
Vil was looking for Rook when he saw the said man playing with a little blonde girl. The archer noticed his presence so he beckoned the girl to come with him.
âRoi de Poison looks like your beauty runs in the family.â
The little girl did a curtsy as she greeted him. âGreetings, father. Iâm (d/n), your daughter from the future.â
Heâs amused, seeing as the girl acts gracefully by greeting alone. After doing his usual 5-second head to toe judgment, he nods and beckons her to follow to Pomefiore for a spa day.
No surprise but as they walk the premises of the campus, lots of stares and gossip started spreading.
Before either Vil or Rook can do anything, she once again spoke. âFather, may I ask for permission to use my unique magic?â
This piqued his interest, âVery well, show me what you got.â
âSmile of the Princess~â With an elegant smile flashed to everyone, âHark, for the fairestâs daughter has graced you her smile~â
You just happened to walk by when you saw the commotion. Color yourself surprised when you saw a girl with Vilâs beauty and grace but with your eyes and preference of hairstyle cast her magic.
You might not have magic but you are quite good at noticing the quirks of everyoneâs unique magic. A smile crept on your lips as you realized what her magic really does and who she might be.
They all got enamored with her and waited for her command. âDo get lost and focus on your duties, you pitiful potatoes.â
âAs you wish, princess.â Everybody affected by her magic responded and went on their merry way.
âOh my, so your magic is similar to Monsieur Multi.â Rook happily commented after the display.
âThatâs incorrect.â (y/n) responded, already figuring out the true nature of her magic. âSmile of the Princess merely makes her target pay their fullest attention to her. It's her charisma that made them follow her orders.â
âSo you noticed as well,â Vil confirmed which you happily nodded.
âGreetings, mother.â She curtsied and introduced herself once more. âWeâre currently heading to fatherâs dormitory to treat our skin. Would you like to join us?â
Ah, so your hunch was rightâŠ
âShe is going whether she likes it or not,â Vil answered for you as he smirked at your flushed face. âWe do need a family bonding after all, donât we, my dear sweet potato?â
âYeah⊠what he said.â You sweatdropped as you unwillingly got dragged to their spa day. âAre we seriously ignoring the fact that she just said weâre her parents?â
âAre you opposed to having children with me?â He raised an eyebrow before facing your kid. âHow many siblings do you have?â
âMy older brother remains in my timeline with his acting job, father.â
You all end up doing the said spa day and enjoyed getting to know your daughter. You can't help but sigh in relief when she told you that she choose following Vilâs lifestyle of her own will rather than being forced to.
When she has to leave, rather than curtsying, she went and hug both of you instead.
âI know fatherâs at work and barely spend time with you but please donât leave himâŠâ She looks away with a sad smile. âHe doesnât mean to make you lonely.â
Against Vilâs protests, you grabbed his hand and raised it with a huge smile. âI promise I wonât let him go until he tells me to.â
Cue to Vil blushing, Rook laughing, and (d/n) smiling as she waves goodbye.
âYou better keep that promise, you stupid sweet potatoâŠâ Vil mutters under his breath with a small smile.
The one rare time he leaves his room is when he visits you or heâs out to get his pre-orders. Todayâs reason is visiting you.
He hears giggling from his brother and what sounds to be another child. Heâs so curious if Ortho made a new friend that he didnât even process the fact that thereâs another person in your dorm.
âBig brother! Your son is here!â Ortho happily announced as he pointed at the giggling boy on your lap.
âAAAHHHH!!!!â Idia.exe has crashed. Please restart your system to continue.
âAhaha, dad is still so jumpy as always.â (s/n) stood up and walked towards him. âHi, dad! Iâm (s/n), your son from the future.â
Heâs the main suspect from all these time-traveling shenanigans. Creating a time machine wanting to meet you two which led to all the children wanting to go as well.
He explains the mechanics of the time machine along with its timer-based setting to return them to their timeline with no fail.
Idia is now just so invested in how this creation works that he sat down on the couch with his holographic computer typing notes and giving his ideas to the kid.
Youâre just happy that Idia is finally interacting with someone else even if it's his son.
Truth be told when he randomly showed up in your dorm, (s/n) geeked out so much on how he unlocked the secret episode on his life story. He immediately bombarding you with questions about your current relationship with Idia.
It was overwhelming⊠thank god for Orthoâs random visits that you managed to calm the kid down.
In the end you four played video games â constantly yelling hacks when someone else wins â and had a great time.
When the timer started beeping, he gave you three a hug. âI love you guys! Please donât forget the parent-teacher meeting tomorrow, Dad.â
âI believe that something you should say to future usâŠâ You sweatdropped as Idia held back a nervous laugh.
âI-Iâll try.â
Le gasp from all three of you.
When (s/n) disappeared, Ortho starts chattering on how he canât wait to be an uncle. Leaving so he can make lots of detailed plans for the future hangouts heâll have with your son.
â(y/n),â He caught your attention as his face and hair slowly turns to fiery red. âI may be the biggest introvert in the world but I promise Iâll do anything that I can to make you happy.â
âHuh, I guess this is how Hades wooed Persephone to marry himâŠâ You smirked as he covered his face to muffle his screaming. âShould we start planning for our wedding now?â
You two were having a peaceful picnic by the school grounds when a young boy appeared on top of the tree. He lost his balance though and leave it to Malleusâ fast reflexes to catch the boy with no sweat.
âThank you, father.â The boy with a striking resemblance of your lover spoke as he regained his footing. âThis isnât how I planned to meet you twoâŠâ
âFather?â You two both asked.
âOkay, Iâm aware that you are god knows how old but I wasnât aware you have a child?â You can't help but look back and forth between the two boys.
âNeither do I.â He calmly answers, confusion evident on his face. âI havenât bed anyone in my whole life.â
âMy apologies! Iâm (s/n) Draconia, your fifth son from the future.â
Cue to you doing a spit-take. âFifth?!â
Malleus is just beaming in joy from this news, he does love a big family. Oh, he can't wait for the future to come, get married to you and have children⊠five children!
âThereâs eight of us, actuallyâŠâ He whispered but you both heard it anyways.
Spit-take part two with a bonus of your face being redder than any tomato in existence and Malleus just vibrating in happiness. âEIGHT?!â
He goes on and telling their names and current accomplishments, all to how the youngest sister is about to be born in a few months.
âSo, I guess that actually makes it nine.â (s/n) corrects himself one last time.
You passed out while mumbling âNine⊠nine kidsâŠâ
As much as Malleus wants to keep talking, he chose to care for you first, chuckling at how you passed out from said information.
He brings you and his kid to his room to make sure you have a better mattress to lay on. The two Draconiaâs will keep talking about how the future of the family works.
Oh, imagine the horror on his face when tend to always be at doors death every delivery time. Now he knows that it's quite common for humans to die when giving birth. Â He second-guesses the idea of having so many children if your life is at stake.
(s/n) have to remind him that they all live, so everything's fine.
After that reassurance, you stirred awake and saw the kid once more. He now wants to snuggle with you on the bed, which Malleus followed suit.
âMother, please sing me that lullaby again.â He yawns as the older fae encases you two in a hug. âWe all love your songâŠâ
You canât help but smile seeing how adorable your son is being that you hummed the first lullaby your mother has sung to you in your younger days.
You two noticed heâs fading, assuming that he is going back to his timeline once again.
You both placed a kiss on his forehead, saying âWe love you, (s/n).â
Malleus chuckles and pulls you close as he peppers your head with kisses. Heâs so excited for the future that heâll share with you and you can't help but feel the same way.
âSo⊠whoâs going back to clean up the mess we left at the school grounds?â

The Hit on the Groom and What Became of It - Chapter 4/Iâll never let you down (in an open casket)
-----------
As she hanged up, Marinette rushed to the doors and let her mother in. The previous night she spent mostly on working with Kwamis to prepare. Most were in agreement that she needed to act and not leave her kittyâs fate to chance. Tikki protested for a bit, but in the end, she saw that there was no changing Marinetteâs mind and joined in on scheming. Except she had no way of tracking Adrien. Not⊠until she received the call!
Except now her mother entered. Sabine greeted her daughter by giving her a bone-crushing hug.Â
âI was so worried! When the police called I couldnât just sit there and wait!â
âMaman. Itâs alright. Iâm okay. See?â The girl did break away from the hug and smiled.
âI know. But I couldnât help but worry.â
âMaman⊠Adrienâs been kidnapped.â
âI know.â Her motherâs expression didnât reveal any emotions now.
âI⊠heâs been miserable ever since that wedding mess, and now this.â
âI know.â Again, nothing.Â
âHeâs my friend.â
âNot the love of your life?â Sabine questioned with a bit of amusement in her voice.
âNo. He doesnât need another fangirl. He needs a friend. Someone who can support him. I⊠I wasnât a good friend before thisâŠâ She didnât reveal that she wasnât a great partner either. Chat hid things well, but from time to time his shell cracked. She shouldâve seen the signs. She couldâve done something. Or at least do something with Lila. She had connections and Lila deserved a lawsuit or five.Â
âOh, sweety. You were a great friend. You are a great friend. Iâm happy to see youâre not about to chase after some misguided love, but after friendship.â
âI know Iâm only⊠wait, what?â Marinette.exe stopped working. If the problem keeps repeating itself, please contact customer service or the nearest Kwami.Â
âWhen I was fifteen, I dropped out of⊠school to explore the world on my own. It wasnât until a few years later that I met your father.â Sabine said in a bit dreamy voice like she was reminiscing. âWe had several adventures across Europe before finally settling down in Paris.â
âBut⊠Papaâs a baker.â Marinette protested. âI thought he was always a baker, like his father.â
In response, her mother chuckled. âNo. Your father had much more in common with your Nona than with his father. I met him when he was fighting in an underground cage-fighting club.â
âWhoaâŠâ Marinetteâs eyes widened. That was a story she never heard before. âSo how did you two got together?â
âI will tell you some other time. The point is, I know that even if I took you to Paris with me, you wouldâve run away to look for your friend.â
âMaman!â For a moment, the girl wanted to protest. But then she decided that there was no point. âYes⊠youâre right. But I canât just let it happen! If the police find him, he will end up back with his father!â
âI know. And whatâll you do about it?â Her mother had this mysterious smirk on her face.
âI guess⊠I need to be the one to find him. I will get him situated somewhere safe. Maybe stay with him for a bit. Heâs smart. And a quick learner.â He mastered being a superhero faster than I did.
âGood. Then you have my blessing.âÂ
âI canât just abandon-â Marinette.exe stopped working again. Contacting the customer service might be in order. Technically, Sabine kept hinting about it. Practically, Marinette would miss a clue even if she was holding a gun to its head. âI have your what now?â
âYou can go. Save him. Find yourself. And maybe kick some asses while youâre at it.â
âMost parents would be worried sick about their not-yet-adult children running off to an adventure.â
âYou wanted to know how I met your father. The answer is I was the first to beat him in that cage.â Sabineâs smirk was replaced with a serious expression. âOf course I will worry, sweety. Iâm your mother. But holding you back now will not help you. Youâre a strong young woman and to be fair, Iâm not sure how we could hold you down. You have steady access to the rooftop and two years of parkour training.â
âWhat now?â
âDid you honestly think we wouldnât notice you sneaking off through the balcony?â
âAnd you didnât even tell me?âÂ
âIt would be hypocritical of us.â Sabine defended. âAnd if the worse came to happen, I had several⊠souvenirs from our travel around the world.â
âThank you, Maman. I promise I will come back; And call you often. Well, maybe not too often.â Marinette already dashed to start packing.Â
âOf course you will. And donât get into too much trouble. I would hate to have to go and find you.â Sabine threatened with a bright smile on her face.Â
âIâll try, Maman.â The girl was only half-listening now. She couldnât waste any more time. She learned how to trace the call about one-and-a-half years ago when she was still a bit âstalker-ishâ.Â
Sabine watched her daughter with amusement. So many memories returned to her now. Youth mostly well-spent if someone asked her. The âmostlyâ part came to bite her just that moment as her phone pinged. She quickly checked the message and frowned.Â
âIâm sorry, my little cupcake, but I need to go check it. An old friend turns out to be in town.âÂ
âIâll call you later!â Marinette called from where she was furiously working on her laptop.Â
When Sabine left, the kwamis swarmed her immediately.
âYour mom is so cool!â one of them cooed.
âAnd sheâs one bad-â
âRoaar!â Tikki scolded the tiger kwami.Â
âWhatâs the plan, pigtails?â
âAdrienâs call was made from within Gotham City. Heâs still here for now. I also managed to track him to Burnley.â
âDidnât that mercenary you called mention some Lawton?â Trixx offered.
âYeah. I did try to search him up, but the only one with that name that I managed to find is Zoe Lawton. Wait. There is more!â She beamed up. âAn old article in some Mexican newspaper.â She clicked on the link and read it aloud for her co-conspirators âFloyd Lawton, also known as Deadshot, was recently arrested after an assassination of a small group of smugglers. It is yet unknown if it was a hit or was it personal.â The article went on, but there was nothing more of interest.
âSo the guyâs a mercenary too? Thatâs good. Heâll bring Adrien to you.â
âNot so fast. I remember hearing about him. Deadshot is one of the few mercenaries who try to keep some resemblance of a code. Heâs also noted to be soft around children.â
âIsnât Adrien almost an adult though?â Kaalki asked rather uncaring.
âHave you met the guy? Heâs a literal ray of sunshine!â Plagg protested.
âSo⊠he wonât deliver him and wonât return him.â Seeing that some Kwamis didnât understand her logic, she clarified, âI donât think that if he learns how Gabe treated his son he will be in any hurry to return him.â
âThat makes sense.â The little being all nodded in agreement.
âSo whatâs the alternative?â
âHe could adopt him,â Ziggy suggested.
âPlease.â Marinette dismissed the idea. âHeâs not Bruce Wayne.â
âHe could smuggle him out of the country.â
âNo. Everyoneâs looking for him.â Roaar countered. âHe would try to lay low somewhere.â
âBurley is large and full of potential safe houses.â Marinette started to think. âBut there is also a large concentration of organized crime. Alone, we would have a hard time, but if we got them to helpâŠâ
âIs it wise to involve more criminals into your schemes Marinette?â Tikki asked skeptically.
âDonât worry, sugarcube. To catch a bird you need wings. To catch a criminal you need crime.â
âIâm not sure thatâs how it works.â
âWhatâs the worse that could happen? I will go there as Seamstress. I wonât even appear in person. Right, Trixx?â
âYou can count on it.â The fox kwami grinned.
âBut⊠butâŠâ Tikki wanted to scream her head off. Why did the previous guardian choose a juvenile criminal for her holder. Marinette used to be such a sweet girl. Where did Tikki go wrong?
---------
It was dark when an eerie mist filled one of the less-than-legal clubs in Burnley. From among the smoke, a figure entered. She was wearing a godet-type black dress with a side-cut that reached to her belt. The dress was overlayed with a very visible deep-blue corset that pronounced her blue eyes. It had some intricate laces on it. She also wore a puffy-sleeved blazer (also black, but with a dark blue finish) with large and very pronounced cuffs. Around her neck was a white double jabot fixed to a choker with a large black gem surrounded by diamonds. Her long deep-blue hair was let loose and hung over her shoulder. A simple black-and-white domino mask hid her features.
As she marched, one of her legs shifted the fabric to reveal she was wearing dark-blue socks reaching above her knee and black leather boots. A knife was strapped to the right one and several leather strips around her thigh and knee suggested she had more weapons on her.Â
One of the men whistled.
âLooks like the entertainment arrived, boys!â Several cheered at that shout. At least until the man who dared to say it ended pinned to a wall with a rather large needle holding his jacket in place. It was also uncomfortably close to his jugular.Â
âIâm not entertainment.â The Seamstress hissed.Â
âThen youâre not invited.â Several men got up, many were holding now-empty bottled which they turned into impromptu weapons.Â
âYou will help me find what was taken from me.â She demanded.
âYeah? Or?â One of the men laughed before charging at her.Â
What followed next was perhaps the strangest carnage Gotham City has seen in years. The Seamstress danced between the attacks with almost unnatural grace and agility while stabbing the attackers in various places with large needles. None of the hits were life-threatening and most would heal within hours. The wounds were meant to incapacitate with minimal long-term damage.
By the time she reached the far end of the bar, almost every man was laid out on the ground groaning in pain or scrambling in fear.
âI am not asking. You will be rewarded for your obedience.â She then disappeared into the back alley. One brave/foolish enough who still had some fight left rushed after her, only to find the place completely empty.Â
On the rooftop, Marinette let out her breath. She didnât use any miraculous for that one, but she kept Plaggâs ring on. Chat Noir wasnât seen in some time, so it wouldâve been easier to explain that the ring was stolen by a criminal. She would really need to thank her mother for all the training she forced on her ever since the Akumas started to appear, as well as the lessons during her childhood. Those were all only the most basic grunts tonight, but she got their attention. One of them would run to their boss. There, she could actually do what she planned.Â
--------
Just like she predicted, some of the less injured guys left the bar in hurry and drove their bikes to another part of the district. They disappeared into a three-story building. The windows were boarded, but some light seeped through on the top floor, so that is where she climbed. Indeed, by hanging on the edge of the window sill, she was able to hear the panicked screams inside.
â...and then she just disappeared! It was like that damn Bat, only much more terrifying. She was so small, and yet there was this⊠this⊠aura of power.â
Thank you Chloe for being queen B. Marinette stifled a laugh. Mimicking Chloe was the right choice.Â
âProbably another one of his useless brats.â The boss dismissed them. Marinette decided that it would make the best impression if she contradicted him right now.
She wondered for a moment how to enter the armored building. She could rip the boards away and enter that way, but she was aiming for ethereal, not brute. In the end, she pulled a pair of glasses and put them over her mask.Â
âKaalki. Would you please help me break into headquarters of a criminal organization to scare them into serving me?â
âHow many sugar cubes is it worth?â
âTen. No more, no less.â Marinette had a small window of opportunity.Â
âYouâve got a deal.âÂ
âKaalki! Full gallop!â The light enveloped Marinette. When it died down, she was still in her outfit, only now the blue accents were brown instead. The gem on her neck held the symbol of a horse miraculous. âI love magical clothes. So easy to maintain the image.â Marinette muttered before a blue portal opened before her and she entered.
Inside, the five men (two who came to report, the boss, and his two guards) watched as the blue portal opened before them. The mist started to pour through it as well as through the boarded window. A figure calmly stepped inside.
âI didnât expect the Gotham criminal organizations to be so⊠cliche.â She commented. Two needles sailed through the air and pinned the guards to the wall. Her horseshoe weapon waited patiently on her back should she need to use it.
âWho⊠whoâre you?â
âMe? Oh. Iâm The Seamstress. I had business in Gotham, but a fool dared to double-cross me. I need to find him.â
âWhy⊠W-why shou-should w-we help⊠help you?â One of the guys from the bar asked.
âOh. Iâm not asking. Iâm telling you that youâll help me.â She informed. âIâm about to make you an offer you shouldnât refuse.âÂ
The boss was now shaking. Damn city with its damn overpowered supervillains. They think they can simply run things as they want. First Red Hood took out most of the top brass of the underworld and then this? Working on his fatherâs farm was sounding more and more appealing. Then there was the shouldnât. The reference to the classic movie was not lost, but she said shouldnât. Not canât. Once more he remembered how Red Hood took over. Submit, or die. This was the same. She clearly wouldnât hesitate. He liked to think he could see those things.Â
âIâm waiting.â The lady growled. âIâm not used to waiting.â Channeling Chloe is actually fun here.Â
âFine. You can have my seat. Iâm going back to dadâs farm. Just let me go and you can have them.â The boss stood from his seat and motioned for her.
Marinette.exe is not responding. Do you want to execute the process? Not yet.Â
She managed to keep enough cool to smile and take the seat, although she didnât even register what was that.Â
She would panic later. For now, tracking Adrien. âI need to find where Floyd Lawton, also called Deadshot, is hiding with my⊠asset.â
âIt⊠I will see to it, Boss⊠lady.â One of the guys from the bar nodded very fast before rushing out of the room.
âI⊠will bring you the list of current assets.â One of the guards informed and walked somewhere. They were used to aggressive takeovers. This was their third. Boss change, guards remain. This was honestly the first time the previous boss managed to escape with his life.Â
Meanwhile, Marinette finally realized what just happened. She really wanted to hit her head on the desk, but she was too afraid to show any signs of weakness. Why did she end up in this mess again?
----------
Sabine Cheng was waiting for her plane back when an airport guard approached her.
âLady Cheng?â Sabineâs blood froze for a moment, but she refused to show any outward reaction at her past codename. âThere is a man who wishes to discuss some⊠past debts.â
Damn it. And here she thought that bald bastard would forget about her. He had several more suitable people. He knew the risks of angering her.
Then again, she knew not to anger him either.
âLead the way.â Her face was stone cold as she stood up.Â
Inside a comfortable private lodge sat a blad man in a suit more expensive than the yearly revenue of her bakery.Â
âAh⊠Lady Cheng. Iâm so happy you couldâve joined us.â
Sabine looked around and noticed that there was another man there, standing slightly in the shadows. A man she came to despise just as much as Luthor. Standing there was Gabriel Agreste.
âI canât return the pleasure, Luthor.â She snarled, not letting her gaze drop from Agreste.
âFigured youâd say that.â The billionaire laughed. âBut it doesnât change that you came.â
âBe quick. Iâve got a plane to catch.â
âAbout that.â Lex smiled. âIâm afraid you wonât be on that plane. I need you to do something for me.â
âSadly, my calendar is full for the foreseeable future.â She retorted coldly.
âThen you will clean it. Unless that is, you want me to tell my good friend the president about your little assignment for me twenty years ago. If I recall, your pardon didnât cover that particular crime.â The man chuckled.
The only upside of this whole situation to Sabine was that Agreste finally realized exactly who she was. Or at least how dangerous she was. The deal she made ensured that Lady Cheng disappeared from everywhere but some peopleâs memory. To her dismay, Lex didnât forget. And he still had that damning evidence.
She also knew exactly what was the job.
âI donât do jobs involving kids, Luthor.â She seethed through gritted teeth. It wouldnât matter, but she hoped it would at least give him a pause.
âAdrien Agreste was about to be married. I think that can calm your conscience. He was all but adult.â That despicable man dismissed her concern, as she predicted.
âIâm a little rusty. Donât you have someone younger? Someone who would actually want to do this?â Sabine deadpanned. She kept true to the deal she made for her and her husbandâs pardon and didnât do any⊠extracurricular work.
âAlas, the fact youâre unwilling is why I need you. You see, the client, whoever they are, picked Agreste Jr. as a target in a⊠battle royale of sorts. It quickly stopped being about the ludicrous money reward. Itâs now about proving whoâs the best. And they wonât stop until they deliver him to that mysterious Seamstress.â
âSo what do you want? Iâm sure you couldâve bought some of them to drop the glory part.â She really didnât want to do this.
âI offered to pay five times the price, but most of the competent ones want a shot at whatever that job is. A mysterious benefactor with no history, nonexistent in any database in the world, paying a small fortune for a simple job and offering further work? Doesnât it sound familiar?â Lex reclined in his chair and smiled.
âOne job only. I want everything you have on me. And ten times the bounty.â She noted his discomfort. âDonât give me that look, Luthor. You can afford it. My daughterâs about to start a university.â Sabine turned to Gabriel. âI must thank you for the idea. Homeschooling really helps when one is gifted.â
âIâm sure we can come to an agreement,â Lex grumbled. If he didnât know the quality of her works, he wouldâve laughed at the price. Except he foolishly revealed that he was desperate.
âOh, Iâm sure we can.â Sabine smiled. She was like a cat that just caught a mouse.

Trey walked among the crowds alone. With piles of books and papers almost covers his sight of the hallway. He lifted up his chin and continuously said âExcuse me!â along the way. Bumped into someone in this busy day was the last thing he needed.
The clock on the hallway showed his little remaining time. One minute late and he will get scolded by Riddle, The leader of Students Executive Board, even though Riddle was practically one year younger than him.
Suddenly, Trey stopped. He felt like have bumped into someone.
Trey: âA-ah, my apologies!â
Trey was ready to accept his first scolding when instead of a loud thundering anger shout of someone, instead, he heard someoneâs soft laugh. He looked beyond his books to see a tall man stood before him, with one hand placed on his piles, preventing the piles to scattered on the floor.
Trey: âAh, itâs you, Jade. You saved me, thanks.â
Jade, smiled casually: âNo problem, Trey-san. By the way, why these mountains of papers?â
Trey: âAh, you see, the last year will officially renounced their position next week, so we need to prepare the ceremony.â
Jade: âAh, youâre right. It slipped my mind. Then, I must excuse myself. You must be busy and I was on your way.â
Trey: âNo, not at all. You helped me, even. Thank you.â
Jade: âNo problem. Need a hand, Trey-san? It seems you would be bumped into someone else if this keep up.â
Trey, awkwardly laughed. âWell ⊠if youâre not troubled, please.â
Jade: âNot at all.â
Then Jade took half of the books and papers. Most of it was from years before him, must be from their seniors.
Trey, approached Jade: âWhatâre you looking at?â
Jade: âOur Senpai was really awesome, donât you think?â
Trey: âAh, could it be ⊠youâre interested in joining executive board?â
Jade, carrying half of the piles. âIâm afraid I couldnât do that, Trey-san. My brother and Azul had really used me to the utmost extent.â
Trey went silent. Their walked through the corridor with no one talking as Trey recalled that it was indeed true that Jade was almost absent in every club and activities outside campus. Only in Mostro Lounge, the only official café permitted around the campus, he usually seen by. But nonetheless, rumors about him spread fast like a wildfire. Most of it was proven as a mere hogwash, from the rumor that he was the son of a mafia, he had an erased criminal records, and list goes on. None of them were proven to be true. That was why, Trey was so confused as why students avoiding him in they had a chance and always stay alert around him, while in fact, Trey was occasionally being helped by his sudden kindness like this time.
Trey: âIt must have been rough, to have friends like that.â
Jade, shocked. âWhat?â
Trey, sympathetically turned at Jade: âIf youâre ever feel tired or need someone to talk to, come to me at any time you want.â
Jade, smiled: âAh, if thatâs what you mean, then. Iâll gladly accept. To be able to receive such an offer from a man like youâŠ.â
Trey: âI didnât know you thought about me that way.â
Jade only smiled.
Trey: âWell ⊠itâs true that even our friends that always been by our side, has some unexpected side on them. Youâll only know that once youâre in different terms on them.â
Jade: âAh, now you talk about that. You and Riddle-san was coming from the same town, right?â
Trey, solemnly nodded: âYes, me and Cheânya came from the same town. But back then, Riddle wasnât slightest like he is today.â
Jade said nothing. He listened carefully.
Trey, coughed awkwardly: âWhat I wanted said is, youâre entitled to slip up. So, donât be shy to brushed them off sometimes and have a free time for yourself.â
Jade, smiled casually like always: âYes, Iâll put that in mind. Oh, look, weâve arrived.â
Trey, opened the door slowly and carefully: âYes, and by the right time. Thank you, Jade.â
Jade: âYouâre welcome, Trey-san.â
They went in the Student Executive Board Room at the same time. But Trey didnât noticed the expression Riddle gave him when he witnessed him return with Jade. Only Jade realized this and even he didnât pay much attention to it.
-
Riddle: âTrey.â
Trey: âYes?â
Their duty for today have all finished. The books, paper, and every handover documents from their seniors have already been taken care of. Only Riddle and Trey left in the room.
Riddle: âI see you walked with Floydâs twin.â
Trey: âYou mean, Jade? Oh, it just coincidence. I met him on my way here.â
Then Trey realized the troubled expression on Riddleâs face: the frown on his brows and the way he glared to the floor.
Trey: âRiddle, whatâs wrong?â
Riddle: âNo, it canât be overthinking. My judgment rarely miss.â
Trey: âRiddle? You troubled that much. Donât worry, I didnât talk about you.â
Riddle: âThat wasnât my only concern. Say, Trey, what else did you say to him?â
Trey, a bit confused, but completely honest: âNothing much, actually.â
Riddle: âIf you didnât say anything about internal problem of Student Executive, then it should be fine.â
Trey, mumbled: âSeriously?â He shook his head. âYou didnât think all that rumors were true, did you?â
Riddle, confused: âWhat rumors?â
Trey, confused. If Riddle didnât know rumors, could it be that he spoke the truth just now? : âWell ⊠you see ⊠there are rumors in every generation in this campus about seven wonders of NRC, right? And this generation, Jade was part of that rumor, it seems.â
Riddle, inclined his head. The way he stared at Trey seriously made Trey think about that warning once again. If Riddle really mean what he said then âŠ
Riddle: âWell, I canât hear such a rumors, can I? Seeing how much of works we need to take care of every day."
Trey, awkwardly laughed: âYouâre right.â
Riddle: âStill, it wouldnât be bad if we take precautions. So, Trey, what kind of exactly rumor youâre saying? Seven Wonders ⊠I think I heard that names before.â
Trey: âWellâŠ.â
Then Trey told Riddle all of the story behind the seven wonders. It was all around the campus in every new generations arrived. The Student Executive Board was not missed either. In one of the seven rumors said that Student Executive Board has an irrational and unusual tea party, held secretly among them.
Riddle, scuffed: What a nonsense and baseless rumor! Who said that? We have irrational tea party? How could they sayâ
Trey: âPlease calm down, Riddle. Itâs just a rumor. Most of them didnât know what theyâre talking to. And besides, out tea party never got interrupted by anyone so far, right?â
Riddle, still angry: âAs I said, it never been too careful. Then, what else rumors out there?â
Trey: âWell, in this generation, they said âYouâll get eternal bad luck if youâre mess with Leech Twinsâ.â
Riddle scuffed again: âAnother baseless rumor.â
Trey, hesitated: âIs that so?â
Riddle, then corrected himself: âYou really need to be careful around Jade, but not to that extent. After all, this is educational institute. One wrong move and youâll be expelled.â
Trey laughed hesitantly: âThough, Iâm afraid our director would say things differently.â
Riddle didnât satisfied: âYouâre rightâŠ.â
Then the red-haired boy looked at the clock on the wall.
Riddle: âCome on, itâs already this late. We should head back too.â
Trey, also turned at the clock on the wall: âAh, youâre right.â
They prepared to leave and the next thing they knew, they witnessed some groups of students walk on the hallway. Some familiar faces came around.
Trey: âAh, itâs Jade.â
Riddle, hold him in his place. His face stern: âI donât want to meet them, especially Floyd. Letâs walk slowly.â
Trey nodded and do as Riddle said when he spotted Jade was between the familiar faces. By his sides, the other Twin, Floyd walked and smiled cheerfully. They have identical face, with slightly different features: like Jadeâs sharp eyes, the hair bangs, and the position of their heterochromia eyes.
Floyd: âNew students are so funny this year too! They look like horde of mackarels!â
Jade: âFloyd, watch your mouth, please. They are still your juniors.â
Floyd: âE~h? But isnât it better to teach them some little things, like whoever they must not disobey?â
Trey, whispering sofly: âAh, he was forced again.â
Riddle, raised one of his eyebrows. âWhat are you talking about?â
Trey: âThere, you see. He was being manipulated and pushed again, right?â
Riddle scorned. âI wouldnât say that if I were you.â Then he turned to the groups once again. âYou need to get a new glasses soon.â
Trey: âH-huh? But my glasses were just fine.â
Riddle: âIf you canât see simple things like this, those glasses are really useless.â
Trey: âWhat do you mean?â
Riddle: âJust watch.â
That time, slowly, Trey heard a familiar laugh from afar. He turned once again to Jade, who slowly let out a smirk Trey never seen before. A wicked smile. Treyâs eyes widened in surprised and he almost lost his posture, but he swallowed all of his shock and walked besides Riddle.
Jade: âScared them the moment they entered this campus? I think weâll have plenty of moments like that later, Floyd.â
Floyd: âE~h, but straightforward is more fun, you know?â
Jade: âFear is an important factor, indeed, but what I desired the most was chess pieces that can be used on our behalf. Thatâs why, first impression was very important.â
Besides him, the glasses man smirked.
Azul: âAs expected from you, Jade. You understand very well. The rumors that had been spread would be our obstacle, but depends on our way to handle it, they can be our advantages at the moment.â
Floyd: âI donât get it~ both of you always thinking the most boring way to solve things.â
Jade, laughed softly: âNot everyone had a unique and amazing way to solve problems like you, Floyd. This time, we will present Azul as the leading actors. The rumors of us needed to be taken seriously, indeed.â
Azul: âYes, a capable senior would be fit to any juniors that just entered this campus now, shall we.â
Jade, smiled wickedly: âWe should be able to get as much attention as we want if they prostrate themselves to us without even realizing it. And we will become the reliable senior for their poor unfortunate fate.â
Both of the studentâs executive committee watched everything in silence.
Riddle: âYou think Jade was willingly accepts orders? You should really observe people more carefully before commenting on them, Trey.â
Trey, sighed: âYouâre right. I guess ⊠it was all on me.â
Riddle: âWhat are you talking about?â
Trey: âNever mind ⊠itâs just ⊠this is different from what I had in mind.â
Riddle: âI told you, you need to buy new glasses.â
Then Riddle told him that even in their junior year, Jade was always made his skin crawl. He didnât get to know why before, but this time it was different. He already seen another sides of Jade that Trey incapable of seeing before. Trey thought Jade was a humble, hardworking student, but that was all just façade. The truth, Jade might be responsible for some of their fishy actions. Riddle reminds him of the accident in the previous year when examâs grade was exponentially increased but the cases of violence in campus backyard was also rocketed. That was particularly because of them too.
Riddle: âI donât want to go near him, as much as I donât want to be anywhere near Floyd. Sometimes, I felt like he was the one who controlling them, not the opposite, and even enjoying it.â
Trey smiled, but the smile didnât even touch his eyes: âYou speak like he was some kind of a sadist.â
Riddle: âYou still think that way?â
Trey, heavily sighed. âNot anymore. Still, to have such impact, even though they are just students ⊠who are they exactly?â
Riddle, empathically looked at Trey: âDonât worry, once our seniors renounced, youâll know.â
Trey, confused: âKnow what?â
But then he realized, Riddle was looking at his pen, the one he placed on his chest. The special pen that marked him as a part of Students Executive Committee. The mark of special one. Special Humans.
Trey: âI understand. It seems there are so much thing I need to learn from you, Leader.â
Riddle: âI wonât be in this position if I wasnât competent enough, would I?â
Trey laughed awkwardly. The mistakes couldnât be undone. He was almost digging his own grave by leaking some information on his own accord. His mistakes. His weakness. And his feelings, to someone he easily trust just because he occasionally helped him. When he thinks about it again, Jade helped him with nothing big. Most of them were simple tasks like bringing him a copy of a lost paper, helped him with piles of work just like today, nothing specific.
If Trey saw on the darker side, it was as if ⊠Jade tried to slowly approaching him. He helped in with purpose in mind. Not that mattered, though. He occasionally did that as well to some people, but feeling that himself was a different thing.
Trey: âWell ⊠I probably need to work up more next time.â
Riddle: âWhat do you mean?â
Trey: âSo I can catch up with you.â
Riddle: âYou are done enough already, Trey. On the other hand, our new member, is the opposite.â
Azul: âWell, well, if it isnât Riddle-san and Trey-san.â
Riddle, calmly approached. Trey realized he walked faster so he matched his speed: âYeah, excuse us, we need to get home soon. Letâs go, Trey.â
Trey: âA-ah, Yes.â
Trey walked fast passed them. Riddle didnât event flinched and Floyd, with his brother and Azul around, behave more accordingly towards them, unlike his free and wild usual self.
Jade: âTrey-san?â
Trey stopped midway and turned to face a smiling Jade: âYes?â
Jade, smiled innocently: âCongratulations on becoming Students Board Committee. Look forward to you this year.â
That smile wasnât so innocent anymore in Treyâs eyes. It was a mocking smile, directly heading towards his recklessness and easygoing attitude. Then Trey smiled to himself and looked at Riddle. He really had a long way to go than his childhood friend.
Trey, reciprocated Jadeâs smile towards him: âLikewise, Jade.â
Then, they parted ways. Jade with Azul and his twin brother, while Trey walking away with Riddle to their home. While they were walking away, Trey could feel some of his inner magic leaked and evaporated to the air, but before it vanished, it triggered something. He saw sparks of light in the night, glittering around him and flew away to Jadeâs groups. There, his magic resonates and burst in blue light.
The light he never watched before.
He then remembered what his father said, that magic of humans resonates with magic from the other sides. It couldnât be resonating with magic from humans also. It only resonating with magic from the other side: the side that not human can ever enter.
The non-human side of this world.
âDonât worry, once our seniors renounced, youâll know.â
Trey remembered Riddleâs word, that he would know something once he joined thr Students Committee. He, unlike Riddle, who joined a year before, didnât know anything. But, both Riddle and he came from the same roots of world. The only reason he could thinking of when Riddle said those puzzle words was âŠ.
Trey shook his head. He once blinded by his own judgment, he canât be fooled twice by his blinded visions.
Riddle: âTrey, what are you doing?â
Trey, realized he was left alone, quickly catch up with Riddle: âOn my way!â
This was the Night Raven College, a college in another world where two kinds of world trying to coexist. Through rumors and gossip in the crowds, the coexistence remained on the neutral side up to this day, until the day they can finally coexist on the same stage, a Committee to watched over the border of the world was needed.
Who couldâve thought that the small step of that coexistence, began with one simple accident in the middle of a night?
But that was another story, for another time.
