so I guess I’m writing for Dick now? i’ve been nonstop listening to “the secret of us” by Gracie Abrams and while every soft, sweet song reminds me of Jason, every brutal, heartbreaking song reminds me of Dick. i was zoning out listening to “us.” and “blowing smoke” and this just…appeared. so have my first Dick Grayson blurb!

But sometimes, just sometimes, you swear it wasn’t. Sometimes when there’s purple hyacinths left on your windowsill at 3am, you can think that he held it for that brief moment in time too. And when he shows up on your rooftop, shining brighter than all the stars in the midnight sky? Well, maybe then you know he felt it too.

I recently got a book, “Floriography: An Illustrated Guide to Victorian Language of Flowers” and it was fun applying it here! I imagine Liam knows Sherly doesn’t really bother to remember flower language, so incorporates Sherly’s knowledge of poisons/medicinal herbs for the fun of it!

i came across this list of victorian flower meanings and immediately knew i wanted to come up with floral arrangements for different hq couples, just for funsies <3

kagehina: amaryllis (pride), sun flower (adoration), blue violet (faith, trust)

tsukkiyama: lilac (joy of youth), forget me not (true love), purple heliotrope (devotion)

bokuaka: red rose (love), yarrow (healing), pink gladoilus (integrity and strength)

kiyoyachi: peony (bashfullness), hibiscus (delicate beauty), fern (sincerity)

Hiii folks, I've been functionally deceased, mostly work stress, but the longer I go without posting random shit, the harder it's gonna be too get myself to start again. So let me toss this excerpt from 'Blooming Flowers, Silent Sorrow' out there! (That's the novel asked into meet you at the blossom.) I've read a couple books since then, but this bit continues to live in my head rent free. The book is a mixed bag, but it went down real easy , andthis author can be SO funny sometimes

Sweet Yarrow

Achillea Ageratum (A-keel-ee-ah Age-err-at-um)

It's symbolic meaning is that of Courage(or being courageous).

Possible powers include Banishing Negativity, Clarity, Confidence, Courage, Discernment, Exorcism, Feminine Energy, Fragrance, Grounding, Healing, Lifting Melancholy, Love, Marriage, Protection, Physic Opening, Physic Power, Repeling Insects, Romance, Venus, Warding off Fear, and that of the water element.

(Imagine marrying someone and having sweet Yarrow there, but they get exorcised and the "person" you loved is now gone???)

Folklore and Facts

Sweet Yarrow was strewn on the floors of homes in the Middle Ages to add fragrance, but it was primarily relied upon to repel ticks, lice, moths, fleas, silverfish, and any other plague of insects that would regularly infest a Middle Age Household.

Often used during Handfasting and other alternative wedding rituals.

Make and then carry or wear a sachet of Sweet Yarrow to banish negativity.

Make a yellow sachet of SY, write fears on a small piece of parchment in black ink to place inside. Carry/wear the sachet to ward off or/and overcome the fears.

Make a sachet and then carry/wear for confidence and courage.

Make and wear a pink/red sachet of SY to invite romantic love that could lead to marriage.

Newly married couples make sachets of SY and hide them around the house where no one can find them, to promote respect, Romance, and love to eachother.
