The Anemone has a long history of Superstition around it. In ancient times, people thought it caused all forms of pestilence, bringing diseases so deadly that people ran through blooming fields of it, holding their breath, because they believed that even the air around it would bring death.
The Scots believed that picking the Anemone flower triggered a thunderstorm.
The English believed that you should pick the first Anemone you saw, then wrap it ina piece of clean white silk to carry as an amulet against pestilence.
In old Russian folk magic, placing an Anemone blossom under the pillow in April induces dreams as premonitions.
Some legends claim that the same wind that passes over the Anemone flowers to open closed petals will blow the dead petals off of others.

In the forest, where every drop of Adonis' blood or some of the nectar had fallen, the red Anemone grew.
