Symbolic meanings include Painful recollections, Recollections of life's pleasure, Sad Memories, and Sorrowful recollection.
(Use in past cases of amnesia maybe?)
Possible powers include Love, Sex, and Promiscuity.
(? doesn't really do well with the symbolic meanings...)
Folklore and Facts
It is said that the Adonis flower contains the spirits of many men and women living in the same flower.
Regarding that belief, there was once a secret religious congregation called the Arioi or Areoi who lived on the islands of Tahiti prior to the arrival of nineteenth century missionaries in Polynesia. These people had a single promiscuous marriage of absolutely sexual freedom among themselves before and after marriage that consisted of 100 males and 100 females.
The Adonis Plant has gone extinct in the Flanders and Wallonia regions of Belgium.
(??? That paragraph followed by that single fact? It gave me severe whiplash.)
It is native to North Africa, Western Asia, the Mediterranean, and Europe. The name Bird's Eye is also associated with the bird's-eye primrose. Pheasant's eye is also an alternative name for the poets narcissus.
