Y'all Waffle House closed in Flordia, the weather-man was crying, I don't think the Floridians have enough guns for this one.
(Being serious, tho Hurricane Milton is so massive because of climate change and global warming. If we keep going at this rate we're all fucked. Let's stop Climate Change and hopes to all those affected by Milton.)

Florida is becoming an epicenter for the repression of mass movements and organizers, especially those who are BIPOC and LGBTQ, are facing violence from the state as well as from the far right.
We'll discuss the repression our panelists have faced and are currently facing, what it means to fight for bodily autonomy and public education in the era of Ron DeSantis, and how we can begin to fight back with a working class movement!
The panel will be held on Sept 22nd, hybrid and in-person, at Florida International University's Ryder Business Building room 140 and online at

AOTD - Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who this past Wednesday, signed int law the bill HB1645 which strikes the two words “climate change” from all state law.
Under this new law, climate change - in actual word and in concept - will simply disappear from state statutes.
While the bill will literally erase several instances of the words “climate change” from state statutes, it will also more absurdly restructure the state’s energy policy that to no longer list climate change as a priority when making energy policy decisions.
Making this critical issue political, DeSantis said, "Florida rejects the designs of the left to weaken our energy grid, pursue a radical climate agenda, and promote foreign adversaries…”
He says that instead, the priority now is to ensure “an adequate, reliable and cost-effective supply of energy for the state in a manner that promotes the health and welfare of the public and economic growth…” and then added that, “radical green zealots want to impose their climate agenda on people through restrictions, regulations, and taxes.”
Critics say the move ignores the risks of climate change facing Florida, including rising seas, flooding and extreme heat.
The legislation deletes more than 50 lines of previous state statutes dealing with climate change which have been on the books since Governor Crist in 2008.
And in that classic Republican hypocritical manner of hating big government and big-brother-ness unless they want to use it, the bill also prohibits any local governments from enacting their own energy policy restrictions …
The bill also prohibits the construction or expansion of any offshore windmills. Done. Over.
And again in classic hypocritical Republican fashion, DeSantis indulges corporate insurance companies to go head and keep charging usurious rates to Floridians to insure their homes, based precisely on these realties which DeSantis prefers to ignore and pretend away.
So, Floridians will be subject to incredibly high insurance rates to protect their homes… from a non-existent problem… DeSantis’ bill is another of his nods to corporate fossil fuel companies - and again, in classic Republican fashion, makes legislation that runs against the majority of his constituents…
On the day he signed the bill, a poll of his actual constituents said that 68+% of Floridians believe their state government should do more to address climate change.
THIS is Republican governance… opposite of what constituents want, serving only corporate interests, and completely dangerously victimizing to the future health and wellbeing of citizens….

I remember one time I was talking with my friend Jacob about me going to Atlanta for a friend’s wedding and he said,
“Bro in Atlanta, be careful, you could get shot.”
I live in Florida, I live an hour away from the shark bite, the lightning strike, and the meth capitals of the world.
Two hours south from where I live someone got high on bath salts and ate someone’s face off.
Thirty minutes north of my house, right now, there is a lake filled with over 10,000 alligators. And sometimes during hurricane season those gators get LIFTED FROM THE LAKE. AND LAUNCHED INTO NEIGHBORING BACKYARDS.
SHARKNADO STYLE.
Do you THINK. I’m SCARED. OF YOUR BULLETS?

Hiii I’m sorry that this isn’t art, but it’s very important I feel that I share this around, as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and as a Florida resident.
They have now extended the Don’t Say Gay bill to all grade levels, K-12. This is exactly what we said would happen. You give them an inch, they take a mile. And they will NOT stop here. They will continue to ban us, to the point where I fear that we will be hunted down. Florida is not safe. I don’t know what to do. I have voted in EVERY ELECTION I could since I turned 18, and if anything, the government gets more and more conservative. And I, as well as several other LGBTQ+ people, can’t afford to just pick up and leave. We are in danger.
I don’t really have any sort of solution for this. Just… if you are an LGBTQ+ person in Florida, I recommend getting out of here as soon as you can, and to find safe places to stay. Do not move to Florida, or even vacation here, especially if you’re LGBTQ+. It’s not safe, and we need to protest this where it’ll hurt Florida’s economy. And if you live somewhere else… please don’t let your home end up like this. Vote and protest this so it doesn’t become law.
Please stay safe out there friends. Hold your loved ones close.

From what I understand, statistically, 1 in 4 women in America have had an abortion.
So none of those women who had abortions were conservative. None of the men that ever paid for the abortions one was conservative?
An honest question.
Herschel Walker is stuck in my mind.
So many rich conservative people, especially men, are privately more pro choice than they admit.

Of all the piss-poor "reasons" people give for why we should be okay with what Israel is doing to Palestinians, my absolute least favorite is "but Muslims are opposed to queer people! They throw them off rooftops!"
The fucking state of Florida ALSO wants all queer people dead or exiled; i still wouldn't support carpet-bombing Tallahassee!

Florida!HTTYD Book AU
(specifically Florida Panhandle! AU)
Like Hiccup, I too grew up around an archipelago of islands full of venomous and dangerous reptiles! (Had a couple of close calls too!) I went kayaking, boating, hiking, fishing, you name it! Unfortunately, growing up in Florida meant I had to deal with Floridians. So, again, like Hiccup, I ran into lots of...characters.
This idea started off from me making a joke to my brother about how Madguts would be a Trump supporter and drive a Ford ages ago. Then it all went downhill from there. (Honestly, I could write a whole post on Florida!Madguts alone.) Someone in the reblogs of one of my posts also wished for it. This one goes to y’all.
Incoming cursed-as-hell long-ish post:
Main Characters:
Hiccup - from a military family, can't go in the military because he can't pass any of the boot camps, works with his friend Fishlegs, obsessed with Marine Biology, scored 6s on the FCAT every year,
Fishlegs - Works at Publix, Wafflehouse, Coram's, Whataburger, etc., almost dies regularly from horse and yellow fly bites,
Stoick - giant, fat beach dad vibes, retired vet, always wears a big polo or Ron Jon Surf Shack Shirts with polarized sunglasses on, boomer Facebook profile, Corona beers, Margaritaville, drives a pontoon called the Fat Penguin, sold his old sail boat the Peregrine Falcon to Humungous Hotshot,
Tumblr media
Baggybum - Marines, never takes off his raybans, goes hunting constantly, camo jackets, guns guns guns, Bass Pro Shop
(Basically, Stoick loves saltwater and Baggy loves freshwater)
Snotlout - Military brat, sports scholarships, ROTC, loves the beach, riding four-wheelers and going mudding,
Bertha - school bus driver, ROLL TIDE, "You might be a redneck if...", Basically just Nanny-Maw, “plaid shirts with the sleeves ripped off” lesbian vibes, Blue Ribbon or Busch beer I can’t decide
Camicazi - loves the mud, always doing dangerous stunts on whatever motorized equipment she can get her hands on, constantly catching frogs/possums/snakes and brings them inside
Others:
Madguts - definitely wears a MAGA hat, drives a Full-Size Heavy-Duty 2022 Super Duty F-450 King Ranch® Pickup (tailgates EVERYONE), spits tobacco, hot boxes his trailer on a regular basis, runs a crime ring in the boondocks(drugs, dog fights, or simply selling stolen goods), divorced 4 times, Rob Zombie, meth, breeds Pitbulls,
Gumboil - also spits tobacco, Malboros, always rides shotgun with Madguts in his Full-Size Heavy-Duty 2022 Super Duty F-450 King Ranch® Pickup, Alabama Crimson Tide merch, has like 14 trucks he swears he's gonna sell and turn around in his yard, always speaks in inappropriate countryisms
Tumblr media
Needless to say, but they're both huge gun enthusiasts and drink Bud.
Thuggory - listens to Butt Rock and Pop Country, Y'all Means All, camo and plaid long sleeves, well fitted Levi's, does everything with his Dad
Humungous Hotshot - Lives on the Peregrine Falcon, “#saltlife”, hooked on fishing, Hooters, sandles with socks underneath, Hawaiian shirts, GOLF, Panama Jack,
Tantrum - not even from Florida, prefers to be in the Keys, comes up to the Panhandle with Humungous so he can see his friends, "#beachbabe", This Video, Ed Hardy
Gobber the Belch - Thunderbeach, drives Harley’s, drives to Alabama to buy illegal fireworks, scary Wafflehouse chef, also Snotlout and Hiccup’s football coach/history teacher
