2002 China, Yangtze, Three Gorges From Yichang to Chongqing, going up the stream, the ferry had many stops. At that time, every cities along the river were destroyed by hand in a huge mass relocation of towns and villages. Over 1.13 million people where displaced by the rising waters. The dam was completed in the summer of 2006, and the water level in the Qutang, Wuxia, and the western portion of the Xiling Gorges has already begun to rise. In addition to the impacts of the dam on the ecology and people of the region, the dam will also change the scenery of the Three Gorges.

Today russian terrorist forces blew up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant in Ukraine’s southern Kherson region on June 6. Large parts of the south of Ukraine are in danger of severe flooding. This is a terrible, barbaric act of ecocide. And russia will pay.

My ot3 bait for this thing is my red priest, the former crown prince who abdicated because he has Issues, his childhood friend who he hasn't seen in years, and one woman who his people are currently at war with who mocks him mercilessly

Hera: "Do you think we're married in every universe?"
Zeus: "Of course, love."
A bird, flying from a hunter to get shot by one of his arrows in its wing.
A horse, stomping on a snake's tail.
A river, blocked by a dam.
A butterfly, pinned to someone's wall for their collection.

Being Ukrainian means fitting your whole life into one backpack.
Kherson. Nova Kakhovka dam. Destroyed by russians. Ecocide, terrorism... Call it whatever you want. I know that right now, there are thousands of Ukrainians that are drowning and hoping for help. But, the part of the Kherson region is still under occupation. And russians don't let them evacuate. The other part, where volunteers, soldiers and civilians are trying to evacuate other people and animals is sheiling by russians.
More than 85 villages will go underwater. Would you happen to know what else it means? People under occupation, people whom the russian occupation authorities imprisoned and tortured in specially designated premises, and dungeons, as was the case in Bucha, Irpin, Izyum and many other cities of Ukraine, are now underwater. Their bodies will be there now until the water goes.
Numbers of endangered species of animals and plants in the South of Ukraine will disappear. And you know what the UN and Red Cross doing? One is celebrating the day of the russian language the other is writing an article about how hard moscow works on the development of humanitarian law. Have any eco-activist, organisations written a word about it? Nothing. No one is helping. No one cares.
Yesterday, I received a letter from an eco-community. About saving bees. Funny things? Ukraine is one of the largest honey-exporting countries. But no one cares what's going on here. Because you all tried to be so good at words, but never at actions. It's easier to close your eyes and tolerate russia. Read their books, listen to their music, learn and celebrate the day of their language. It's easier to block a publication from Ukrainian because they said something bad about big and dear russia, but it's hard to share and speak about all the horrible things they are doing here. So hypocrisy.
I won't be easy in my words, while people here are drowning, being killed and tortured and the whole world is silent because they are scared. I won't ever share a post about plastic, straws and other shit, while there is russia, that can destroy a dam, cause a flood, destroy thousands of lives, kill animals and plants, and get away with it.
I don't believe in this world and in this society. You all have already forgiven russia.

And again India flooded Bangladesh. The horror people facing in the river areas are unimaginable. Thinking about the people, the animals. It will literally drown them. Maybe it already has I don't know. Don't know what will happen if the dams aren't closed. You don't need enemies when you have friends like India. Being such a small country, rarely people knows what we go through by India. Please get informed about the situation and help put pressure on India about this decades old dam issue. India does this every year. They close their dam during summer (which dries out our rivers) and open it in the rainy season to flood Bangladesh.
I am sorry for sharing bleak news with you all. I know how disturbed everyone gets by these. Forgive me.
May we all find peace. And may Allah send us a miracle. In Sha Allah. Ameen.

Dozens of people have been reported killed after a dam collapsed in northeastern Sudan, as the country deals with heavy rainfall leading to disastrous floodwaters. The Federal Ministry of Health initially said in a statement on late on Sunday that the Arbaat Dam north of Port Sudan had collapsed, killing four people in the floodwaters and sweeping away homes. It added that resources had been deployed to the area to help those stranded.

waking up this morning, no thoughts, until in the shower:
"remember 'learning' about the adam's apple? panicking that yours is practically non-existent? trying to figure out how to make it seem more prominent? worrying that everyone around you would uncover some terrible, big, dark secret without even knowing yourself what that secret was, and therefore you were unable to vocalize any of these concerns (at least without calling attention to it and getting accused of being a 'girl' [a horrible fate for a young catholic boy!!!])?"
"well, yes. uh– i do. wh—"
"the only complement you remember daily is being taken for a woman while wearing drag at rocky horror picture show."
"yeah, but—"
"THE ACTUAL COMPLEMENT YOU GOT WAS ABOUT YOUR HAIR"
OK. I GET IT.

Do you have a particular organization you work with for providing disaster relief?
At the moment, no. My dad and several of my neighbors have been helping out with various local groups, but so far my donations have been things like clothes I had on hand that happened to be the size my neighbor's coworker, who lost their house in a flood, needed, or stuff like that The baby blankets are going to a different neighbor's kid's school, who is arranging donations for...I think it's a particular city but I am not sure how to reveal what city without giving away where I live more precisely than I really want to? I live close enough to the flooding that I don't really need to work with an organization, because everyone in my neighborhood is at max two degrees of separation from someone who lost everything in the floods. I can give things, including baby blankets, directly to the families affected. I mean, that said, I am giving them to my neighbors to distribute, but that's because I can't drive and a lot of the places donations are going you can't drive to at the moment anyway. One of my neighbors is organizing people with ATVs to go take food, water, fuel, and other necessities up to some of the communities that currently have no road access I got very, very lucky with where I live and the infrastructure that happened to be in place*. There was severe flooding less than ten minutes away from where I live in more than one direction, but where I live made it and enough of the roads are intact to be able to get out. Some routes are more circuitous than they used to be, but it's still possible
*by happened to be in place I mean in my particular neighborhood and the work my dad has had done in our yard, not the rest, I know a lot of people over a lot of years made the infrastructure of the larger area
