I think it's about time we stop virgin-vs-chadifying Boq and Fiyero and start considering the possibility that they could be boyfriends

If Glinda can be gay and in denial so can Boq ok
#why does everyone always talk about boq like they're being forced to date him#he doesn't want you he wants fiyero#literally most of the reasons people hate on boq would be irrelevant if he was with fiyero i think#fiyero could have saved him#wicked#wicked movie#wicked the musical#fiyero tigelaar#boq woodsman#fiyerboq

secrets and scars
movie!fiyero x gn!reader, 847 words summary: the reader has been scarred for some time now. fiyero discovers them and does something rather... unexpected. a/n: idk what this is. but like... yeah. hope it makes sense. i was gonna queue this and save it for later but iâm gonna go ahead and post it. i have a few queued posts for jonathan bailey characters in the coming weeks so. iâll try to feed you all for the holidays. ⥠tw: reader has scars? no direct mention of where they are but it could be triggering. slight reference to sexual content, reader is naked for a hot minute but nothing graphic happens. you'll understand when you read.
Scars. They littered your body, an unfortunate reminder of the past you barely escaped. It was as if your body didn't want you to forget.
You wished you could.
You're lost in your thoughts in one of the many archways of Shiz University, staring out at the blue sky above. Your fingers itch to touch your scarsâto scratch, to peel them away. You didn't want the reminder of who you once were. You didn't want the reminder of what once happened to you.
In all of Oz, you'd give anything to be able to erase your scars.
Anything.
It's a flurry of a nightâconfusing all around, and then somehow, Fiyero ends up in your dorm, kissing you, touching you, and by the love of Oz, how is he so quick with your clothing?
But before you can stop him, panic-stricken, he sees them. Your scars.
He's silent, wide eyed as he looked at them, lips parted as his eyes flicker from each mark on your skin.
He licked his lips a bit nervously, glancing up at you.
"Youâareâ" he stopped himself, seeing the panicked look on your face. "Oh, Y/n," he breathed out, moving to sit beside of you on your bed. He gently pressed a hand to the side of your face. "I'm sorry. I should have asked."
You slowly shook your head. "No. No, it's okay, I justâjust didn't expect you to move so quickly. You, uhâ"
"Surprised you, hm?" he softly asked. He pressed a soft kiss to your forehead before he found his voice once more. "I'm so sorry."
"Sorry? For what?"
He doesn't answer. Instead, his eyes fall to your scars, and you can tell he wants to ask you questionsâhow you got them, what happened, how long ago it happened.
Instead, he says something that takes you by surprise (because of course he didâFiyero was filled with surprises, was he not?).
"They are beautiful."
"What?"
"Your scars."
You're silent for a moment. "My... my scars? Are beautiful?"
He smiled softly at you, taking ahold of your hand. He looked into your eyes. "Yes. Your scars are beautiful," he softly said. "I won't ask you about them. You can tell me when you decide you are ready, if you ever are."
Your eyes soften as you admire him from your spot on the bed. You feel so exposedânaked to the man not only physically but also emotionally. It was an odd feeling. A... welcomed feeling.
"May I touch them?" Fiyero softly asked.
"My scars?" you questioned for what seemed the hundreth time in the past few minutes.
"Yes. Your scars."
"You want to touch them?"
Fiyero looked at you, an incredulous look on his face. "Yes, Y/n. You can say no, it's quite alright. My feelings will not be hurt if you say no."
You watched him, swallowing nervously. "You... you're so odd," you softly said.
He snorted softly, a smile embracing his features. He leaned forward and kissed your cheek.
"Only for you."
You gave a small nod in return, and watched as he moved down the bed, focusing on the part of your body with your scars. His eyes flicker up to yours and he pressed a soft kiss to the puckered skin.
"Only for you," he repeated.
You feel flustered more than anything, looking away from him and his beautiful brown eyes.
How odd, indeed.
"I... I don't like them," you softly said.
"You do not like your scars?" he softly asked, a finger gently brushing against one of them. "Did somethingâ"
"âI'll tell you. One day. Just..."
"Of course," he said. "I understand. But... Y/n, I meant what I said. They are beautiful."
You pursed your lips.
"They show how much strength you've had to survive, Y/n," he said, leaning forward and letting his lips connect with yours. "They're beautiful because they show me you've had to be brave. To be courageous in the face of such disaster. Your scars may be something you do not like, but do not wish them away."
You don't look at him, but you do not push him away.
"I do not know how you got them," he said, "and I am so sorry if what happened to you was... well, unsavory. But... they show such strength, Y/n."
"Strength is ridiculous and you know it," you muttered. You just want to rebuke his statement, as sweet as it may be.
He pecked your lips again.
"Perhaps that's not the best way to describe what it is, but I can't think of what would be better," he said. "This brain of mine doesn't want to work when the most beautiful person in all of Oz is letting me see their secrets."
Your heart pounded in your chest and you looked up at him, eyes softening.
"You are so odd," you repeated.
He snorted softly. "Yes. We've established this, Y/n. Thank you."
A smile quirked on your lips and you gently grabbed him by his shirt, pulling him in for another kiss.
"You're welcome."

My toxic trait is that I think if Elphaba, Galinda, Fiyero, Nessarose and Boq had all gone to the Emerald City together as friend group, they totally would have been able to stop the Wizard and Morrible. Wouldnât have even been a challenge.
Galinda, Nessarose, and Boq might have been hesitant or afraid to openly challenge the Wizard, but as soon as Elphaba objected and the Wizard and Morrible made their little threats, Fiyero would for sure throw a punch in the Wizardâs direction, at which point the battle is on and the group is running through the Wizardâs castle being chased by flying monkeys like theyâre the Scooby Doo gang. Fiyero swinging around on those hot air balloon ropes knocking guards left and right, Boq panicking and accidentally doing some looney tunes style stunt that saves Nessrose, and they all escape on the balloon to Kiamo Ko with the Wizard as a hostage, because Fiyero would for sure drag that pathetic mess on board, tied up and everything to make sure they can escape.
And Morrible wouldnât be able to do a thing about it because you know that the second Nessa calls her dad to complain, the governor is going to come rolling up to the Emerald City in his ridiculous top hat yelling in Morribleâs face demanding to know âwhat kind of school she thinks sheâs representing here?â and talking about how he wasnât made aware of this unauthorized balloon field trip, and panicking about Nessa falling out of the sky. Now Morrible has to deal with him, and she canât pull the âa wicked green witch kidnapped our Wizard and his spellbookâ this time, because is she really gonna say the witch was either helped by or succeeding in kidnapping (in addition to the Wizard) a famous prince, the daughter of wealthy upper class, the beloved and favorite daughter of an esteemed governor, and another random student all on her watch? There are only so many people you can throw under the bus before the story is too crazy to be believed, plus now you have all those angry parents demanding explanations. So now Morrible has got to tell everyone some bs story about an âunfortunate ballooning accident, which she is sure the Wizard will rectify in no timeâ while she figures out her next move.
Meanwhile, at Kiamo Ko, the kids have the Wizard tied up and heâs trying to reason with them but they arenât having it, and since this is an integration, it eventually comes out that heâs Elphabaâs deadbeat dad. He gets emotional and tries to spin it as a tragic star crossed lovers story rather than a one night stand and Nessaâs not having it because if you found out your parent cheated with a villainous dictator who tried to kill their own child who is also your half-sister and then said dictator has the nerve to try to spin it into a story where youâre supposed to feel sad for them because they âcouldnât be with the woman they lovedâ (because she was married to your father) and ânever knew their childâ (because they left knowing full while their actions could have created your sibling) youâd be mad too. And Elphaba is also angry because who would want to be related to someone willing to oppress people for power? Pathetic.
But Boq stops Nessa from angrily doing anything crazy to the Wizard because after he saved Nessa from some flying monkeys, he realized that he loves her and that Galinda doesnât like him and he has to respect that, and now that the gang has had time to talk, Galinda also realizes Fiyero obviously loves Elphaba and decides to be happy for them, because they all take one look at the Wizardâs fake overdramatic crying for a woman he had a one night stand with who was never gonna leave her husband for him anyway who he never even called again anyway so why is he crying now, and they say âletâs not over complicate our love lives and be mature about our feelings.â Good decision on their part.
Meanwhile, the Wizard tries to start singing about his regrets and offers them all a chance to rule with him if only theyâll untie him, but no one is having it and they send him and Morrible to jail and make Elphaba the new Wizard because sheâs the one with the actual power. She can visit her father in prison, and he can do his silly little puppet/figurine shows and song/dance numbers for her then. If he has good behavior, maybe Elphaba can make him her court jester because goodness knows all the Wizard is good for is being a clown. Morrible stays in jail, no parole. Then youâve Elphaba ruling the Emerald City, Fiyero ruling Winkie Country, Galinda being an elite socialite in Gilkin Country or wherever sheâs from and Nessa ruling Munchkin Land with Boq at her side, willingly this time. The whole friend group is running Oz and making it better. The end.

There's something funny (if slightly tragic) to me about the fact that Fiyero's himbo act that he puts on through Dancing Through Life, and that we find out later he secretly hates, is literally what saves him multiple times through the musical.
When Madame Morrible realises Elphaba cast the spell and freed the Lion Cub which hastens her invite to the Emerald City to get rid of dangerous influences (I'm aware this isn't explicitly shown in the musical but I have to think it went down in a fairly similar way to the movie), Fiyero is missing too, but presumably Madame Morrible, just thought he missed the lesson because he didn't care - no suspicion is put on him at all.
When Fiyero, suddenly after Elphaba is declared a criminal, starts immediately having an interest that he never did before at working in the palace in the Wizards Guard? He's just following his girlfriend, surely the best thing we can do with him is give him a fancy position and get him engaged to boost moral! There's no way he could be a man on the inside.
When he asks for water the moment they are about to capture the Witch? Yeah, that's just the kind of zany thing himbo Fiyero would do, there's nothing sus about him removing every hostile witness from the room...
And then, of course, he's literally pretending to be brainless for the latter part of act 2 - which allows him to temper the biggest threat coming towards Elphaba and facilitate her escape, without anyone even suspecting who he really is.
I would genuinely argue that Fiyero is the cleverest character in the whole show and he gets so far by people constantly falling for his act and underestimating his intelligence.

It's really important to me that y'all understand that Fiyeros last words are, "Glinda, I'm so sorry."
Thats it. "Glinda, I'm so sorry." and then the end, lights out, shows over for Fiyero.
Those are the last words he speaks alive. Those are his last words, not as a scarecrow. It is the last thing he ever says. he looks at his ex-fiancee, the only person he's been able to trust, to rely on, to love, for the last 5 years. The person he just abandoned not 24 hours earlier. The person he was abandoning again but this time so much worse.
And she's forgiving him. She's looking at him and saying you abandoned me for my best friend, and you held me at gunpoint, and I'm pretty sure you'd hate me if you could, but it's ok because I love you, and I'll always love you, and you love her, and so do I and its ok, because as long as someone loves her, then it's ok.
"He was never going to hurt me, he just loves her."
And he's about to be dragged off to his death. They both know it, even if Glinda is still pretending like she can change it. She would if she could. She'd give her life to save his. To save theirs. but she can't. And that's a rant for another day.
And instead of begging for his life, instead of screaming and pleading against the brutal death he's surely going to receive, he looks up at the only person he's had for 5 years. The woman he's loved for 5 years. The woman he so deeply betrayed. And he apologizes. Because he can't have his last act hurt her. She has to know he loves her and will always love her.
His last act hurts her anyway because his last act is being beaten to death in front of her, but there's nothing either of them can do about that but scream.
"Glinda, I'm so sorry."
For the gun, for leaving, for staying, for being mad, for being happy, for lying, for not loving you enough, for loving her too much, for all of it.
"Glinda, I'm so sorry."
And then he's dragged away. And Glinda screams and cries, and begs them to let him go. And Fiyero does none of those things. Because it's pointless and they both know it. But he's not the one who has to live with his death. She is.
"Glinda, I'm so sorry."
and then he's dead.

Anyway, I am sick and tired of people saying they never loved each other because they absolutely did. I don't care if you think it was romantic or platonic or familial or what. They loved each other.
And it was Fiyero's death, it was watching Fiyero's fate be exactly what she was terrified hers would be, that motivated her to finally say fuck it and go find Elphie. It was Fiyeros death that caused her to go against everything that motivated her the entire show because she already lost one of the people she cares most about, there's no way in Oz she'll lose both of them.
And then she does anyway. And Glinda Upland is alone.
So stop saying they never loved each other cause they did. It was complicated at the best of times, but they did.
They Did.

SOMETHING THERE

movie! Fiyero Tigelaar x gn! reader
Synopsis: When Fiyero convinces you to try and set up Galinda and Elphaba, you agree, not knowing that maybe playing match-maker wasn't the only thing on his mind ... and maybe Elphaba and Galinda are working towards a common goal as well ...
c.w.: friends to lovers (reader/Fiyero) & enemies to lovers (Gelphie); lots of fluff & bantering, some angst; a lot of chaos to get through first; unresolved romantic and emotional tension
w.c. 6.4k (sorry!!) || masterlist
âI give up.â
Sighing in defeat, you slumped down in your favorite arm chair in the Shiz common room and crossed your arms in front of your chest. âI give up ⌠I - I canât do this anymore, I feel as if can recite all of Elphabaâs tirades about Galinda by heart, itâs insane!â
âWell, hello to you, too, and thank you for asking, my dayâs been as good as I could have hoped for, without you keeping me companyâ, Fiyero - who had been waiting in the common room for you, saving you one of the arm chairs in front of the fireplace - said rather pointedly, though his unusually dry tone was softened by his smile.
You found yourself returning his smile, even though your thoughts were still on the tiresome predicament youâd found yourself in these last few weeks.
âIâm sorry, itâs just-â
âExhausting?â, Fiyero suggested, interrupting you.
You nodded, sighing. âExactly.â
Fiyero chuckled defeatedly. âJust earlier, Galinda was going on and on about how Elphabaâs books take up so much space in their room, and how she canât stand it that Elphabaâs constantly rearranging all these books.â
âYeah, Iâve heard that exact sentiment from Elphaba about Galindaâs shoes ...â
Fiyero shook his head, laughing. âI mean, she does have rather a lot of them âŚâ
âI donât really care, I just - I canât hear about them anymore, Fiyero, I really, really canât.â
You took it as a sign of how well Fiyero understood you, how well he knew you to understand that you were truly frustrated and not just letting off a bit of steam, that he stopped laughing. And instead of the dry, flippant remark - something along the lines of You donât care to hear about Galindaâs shoes anymore? Sweet Oz, how could you? - you expected, he just sighed, shaking his head. Then, he scooted his arm chair around, so that it was closer to yours.
Angling his body towards yours, he reached for one of your hands, and squeezed it softly. Even though you were still incredibly tired and frustrated with the whole Galinda and Elphaba situation, you couldnât help but blush at his action. Youâd always known Fiyero to be quite affectionate and charming, and heâd tried to work his easy charm on you countless of times already. But something about this situation felt different - maybe it was sincerity in his touch and the way his brown eyes seemed to have softened when you looked up at him.
âI get itâ, he simply said.
You nodded, sighing. âItâs just - itâs not that I donât care about Elphaba, because I do, really - sheâs a really great friend, but Iâm just so tired of having to constantly listen to her vent about Galinda ... and itâs not like I havenât tried to talk to her about it numerous times, trying to get her to see some perspective, but itâs like she just momentarily tunes everything I have to say out whenever I try to bring it up âŚâ
âWell, that sounds familiarâ, Fiyero said dryly.
You laughed sadly. âI just - I just wish that there was something, anything we could do that might change their perspective âŚâ
Fiyero didnât immediately respond to your comment, instead gazing down at your hands - with a jolt, you realized that he was still holding your hand in his, and that realization caused your cheeks to flush again, but somehow, you couldnât bring yourself to take your hand out of his grasp just yet - with a pensive expression. The silence between you stretched on, but it didnât feel uncomfortable, didnât pressure you to break it by saying something. Instead, you welcomed it - youâd had a long day full of lectures and rants about Galinda and her various irritating habits, and the ease and familiarity between you and Fiyero really calmed you.
You chanced another glance at Fiyero who still appeared to be deep in thought, his brows drawn together in concentration. Your eyes greedily wandered over his features, taking everything in - his soft, brown eyes, the short, light brown hair, his sharp jawline.
He really was incredibly handsome - way too much for his own good, you thought, recalling with a sudden hot, uncomfortable feeling, the numerous flirtations heâd had since youâd known him.
You had met the Prince of Winkieland almost three years ago, when youâd been visiting your older sister at University. Fiyero had been attending the same university back then, and youâd met when your sister had been showing you around the campus. Youâd been so taken aback, so awed by what you saw, you hadnât really payed attention to where you were going anymore - until youâd collided with Fiyero.
Fiyero, of course, had reacted with his usual flirtatious charm, until your sister had butted in with a few very pointed comments about how you wouldnât be attending University until next year and wasnât Fiyero supposed to be on his way to a date with one of his classmates?
Youâd rolled your eyes at her - really, you were only two years younger than him, what was the big deal? - and Fiyero had laughed at your reaction, shooting you a smile that somehow had your heart pounding faster and blood rushing to your cheeks. Your sister, whoâd sensed that you were succumbing to his charm, had grabbed your arm and dragged you away.
When Fiyero had called your name, your sister only rolled her eyes, muttering under her breath. âSee you around, then!â, Fiyero called after you, and though your sister was in quite a grumpy mood, you weren't able to fight back the smile that tugged at your lips.
You did see him around, later - during your visit you somehow kept running into him, which greatly annoyed your sister, but secretly pleased you quite a bit. Though you supposed that your sister was right when saying that he could be quite arrogant and air-headed, he was also extremely charming and a surprisingly good listener.
At the end of your visit, you ended up exchanging addresses and just a few days after youâd arrived back home, youâd received your first letter from Fiyero.
Since then, youâd kept in touch via various letters - there were times, when you were sending each other up to three or four letters a week -, and of course you reunited whenever you visited your sister again.
Over time, she grew less hostile towards Fiyero - which, you suspected, had a lot to do with him reducing his flirtatious, suggestive comments to a minimum whenever she was around -, though she continued to warn you not to fall under his spell, seeing how she didnât want to see her little sister get her heart broken by the rather infamous Winkie prince.
Whenever she brought this particular subject up, you just rolled your eyes, assuring her that there was no danger of this happening. You liked Fiyero, but just as a friend. Of course, he was incredibly good-looking and charming, and sometimes his affectionate ways caused you to flush, becoming flustered, when he suddenly grabbed your hand or tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear, but he was your best friend and you didnât see him as anything more than that.
And if there were instances in which you wondered, questioning whether you truly saw him as just a friend - well, you werenât about to tell your sister that, were you?
â ⌠well, maybe there is something we could do âŚâ
You didnât immediately register his words and it took until Fiyero had squeezed your hand again for you to snap out of your thoughts.
âStill with me, darling?â, Fiyero asked you with a concerned expression.
You nodded, feeling your cheeks flush. âY-yes, sorry, I ⌠you were saying that there was maybe something we could do? About Elphaba and Galinda?â
For a moment, Fiyero seemed as confused as you felt, and when you tried to look at him, he averted his gaze, looking down at your hands - somehow, him holding your hand felt dangerously familiar yet weirdly new and unusual at once - instead.
âYes, I - itâs just an idea âŚâ, he trailed off, clearing his throat, his eyes flitting over to you - and was it just your imagination or were his cheeks turning rather pink? -, before he continued. âI feel like we should get them to spend more time together-â
You raised your brow in confusion. âI donât see how that would help the situation, given that they hate each otherâs guts-â
âWell, yes - but what if they donât, not really?â, Fiyero interrupted you, sounding confident once more.
You frowned. âIâm not sure Iâm still following you âŚâ
Fiyero laughed quietly, the sound so warm and familiar, you couldnât help but smile yourself, even though you were still confused.
âNow, this is just a hunch, but I donât think they actually hate each other ⌠sure, they donât particularly like each other, but I think thatâs more to do with them maybe seeing something in the other they recognize in themselves, something they donât particularly want to see - or maybe, theyâre seeing each other much more clearly than they each would like, and instead of actually dealing with that, theyâre just, you know âŚâ
âAntagonizing each other âŚâ, you finished his sentence, nodding. Now that you thought about it, what Fiyero had just said did make sense.
âExactly, trying to shatter the mirror that way âŚâ, Fiyero said, his eyes finding yours.
âAnd so your plan is to what - force them together, until theyâve worked through all that?â, you asked, disbelief and doubt creeping into your voice.
Fiyero shrugged. âWell, if you put it like that âŚâ
âSorry, but I donât think thatâs going to work ⌠Elphaba would probably much rather than die than willingly spend more time with Galinda than is absolutely necessary âŚâ
Fiyero just grinned. Somehow, your doubts didnât seem to face him at all. âWhich is exactly why weâre not going to tell them that theyâre going to spend time with each other.â Seeing your confused expression, he quickly hurried on explaining. âWe make it look like a group activity, tell them that there's this ocktail bar in town we want to try out, our something like that ... trust me, we'll figure something out!"
âBrillantâ, you said dryly. Fiyero didnât immediately catch on to your sarcasm. Once you continued, however, his grin froze. âAnd which one of us is going to organize our double funeral?â
âFuneral, what-â
âFiyero, once they realize that we tricked them like that, theyâre going to want to kill us! At least Elphaba will, and Iâm pretty sure Galinda will feel the same way.â
âWell, at least then theyâll have something to bond overâ, Fiyero said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
You looked over at him. You saw the grin tugging at the corners of his lips, and somehow, you couldnât keep it in anymore - you started laughing, shaking your head. Soon, you were both laughing hard, completely lost in your own world.
âThis is madnessâ, you said, voice still breathless, once youâd calmed down again. âEven if they do fall for it - which I doubt they will - theyâll be furious once they realize whatâs going on.â
âSo weâll just fake a family emergency or something, Iâm sure weâll be able to come up with somethingâ, Fiyero replied, shrugging.
You shook your head. âSo you really want to go through with that?â
âWell, got any better ideas?â
âNoâ, you admitted, sighing.
âHeyâ, Fiyero said, squeezing your hand, âitâs going to work. And if it doesnât - well, Iâm sure youâll come up with a fitting, tragic engraving for our double tombstone.â
You scoffed, rolling your eyes. âHow reassuring.â
The next two days passed you by in a blur.
Elphaba continued to rant about Galinda - as did Galinda about Elphaba as Fiyero assured you with a tired, pained smile, when you two met up once again in the common room the following evening - and Fiyero and you continued to work out the details of your plan to get Elphaba and Galinda to spend more time together. Well, it was mostly Fiyero who did the planning, seeing as you were still quite convinced that this whole scheme was going to fall apart the minute Elphaba and Galinda realized theyâd been tricked.
Your doubts didnât seem to faze Fiyero in the slightest. Actually, it seemed that the more vocal you became in voicing your concerns, the more determined to see this through to the end - and see it through successfully - Fiyero became.
Not even Elphabaâs irritated expression, when he cornered you and her after dinner the following evening, seemed to intimidate him, which, you had to admit grudgingly, was a feat in and of itself. Because while you liked Elphaba very much - when she wasnât using her breath on venting about Galinda that was - and valued her friendship, she could be quite intimidating.
If sheâd looked at you the way she was currently looking at Fiyero, you were sure that youâd have already crumbled.
As it was, Fiyero merely shrugged, smirking, when she said, her voice dripping with irritation: âAnd why in Ozâs name would you do that?â (Fiyero had just announced that he wanted to invite you two for dinner in a fancy restaurant in town the next evening.)
âBecause I want to spend some time with my best friendâs other friends - get to know them myself, you know, he said, an easy smile on his face, as he walked closer to you and slid an arm around your waist, the gesture so casual, so natural, almost as if it was something he did all the time.
It wasnât. Because while Fiyero had always been extremely affectionate and not even your sisterâs irritated glare when heâd casually grab your hand and lace your fingers together or gently touch your arm to get your attention could discern him, he usually didnât do something like this.
This felt new and dangerous and - you liked it.
You liked being this close to Fiyero, feeling his body right next to yours, heat radiating off him, even though it caused your heart to start beating frantically in your chest, your palms to sweat and your cheeks to flush.
Sweet Oz, what was happening to you?
Because this really wasnât the moment for you to be this flustered and confused by Fiyeroâs shenanigans, not when Elphabaâs irritated, hostile glare was still fixed on him.
âI seeâ, Elphaba said dryly, her tone clearly indicating that she didnât understand at all and that she wasnât very interested in hearing more.
âI mean - I already know youâre great, Iâve heard so much about you, but I thought that we two should get to know each other as well, get to spend some time together, if you know what I mean.
At this, he actually winked at Elphaba.
Elphaba was having none of it though, raising her eyebrows pointedly. âAnd what if I happen to not share that sentiment?â
âWell, then Iâd be very disappointedâ, Fiyero said, shaking his head. âI mean, I was quite looking forward to discussing Dr. Cloverâs lecture over dinner with you - I happen to admire his work as well -, but no can do, I guess âŚâ
âYou want to go to Dr. Cloverâs lecture with us?â, Elphaba said, the surprise in her voice mirroring your own. You hadnât heard of this particular aspect of Fiyeroâs plan yet, and his satisfied smirk told you that he knew - or at least thought so - heâd won Elphaba over.
Fiyero shrugged. âI planned to go alone, at first, but then I thought of you two, thinking that maybe we could go to his lecture first and then maybe go for a drink somewhere in town âŚâ
âYou actually got more than one ticket for his lecture?â, Elphaba asked and you could hear the begrudging admiration in her voice.
You were impressed yourself - Dr. Clover, an owl professor, was a highly renowned academic, her books on astrophysics held in high regard, and her rare public lectures were almost always sold out immediately.
Fiyero smirked. âI have my ways âŚâ
Elphaba just rolled her eyes, shaking her head. âFine, Iâll think about it âŚâ
And with that, she walked off - not before giving you a look that told you that you had a lot of explaining to do.
You sighed, turning around to face Fiyero, your breath hitching when you realized how close you two were, seeing as he still had his arm around your waist.
âWell, I think that went rather well, didnât it?â, he asked you, grinning.
You rolled your eyes. âYou can be so full of yourself, you know that, right?â
Fiyero just shrugged, smirking, ignoring your comment. Nothing new there. âThe Dr. Clover card was a stroke of genius though, wasnât it?â
You sighed, nodding. âYes âŚâ
âYou sound so uncertain âŚâ, he said, grinning, his grip on your waist tightening.
You gulped, feeling your cheeks heat up once again. By now, you probably looked like an overly ripe tomato. Not exactly a very pleasant sight, though either Fiyero didnât notice or his flirtatious charm was entirely immune to people blushing furiously like overripe tomatoes.
âNo, I just - howâd you come up with that?â
Fiyero smiled, apparently very pleased that youâd brought up this particular question. âFunny you should ask, like youâre not always raving about her books and newspaper columns and all that âŚâ
âIâm not raving - wait, you actually remember that?â, you asked, your heart pounding fast in your chest when Fiyeroâs chocolate brown eyes found yours.
He held your gaze, smiling. And either you were so overcome by his sudden closeness that you were starting to imagine things or it was a trick of the light, because surely Fiyero Tigelaar of all people didnât blush? But no matter the cause, his cheeks were turning rather pink.
âI ⌠yeah ⌠I mean, you really like her and so I - I thought Iâd, you know, check out her writing as well, and turns out sheâs holding a lecture in town tomorrow evening âŚâ
Fiyero ran his free hand through his hair, his gaze for a moment seemingly fixed on something far away, before his eyes found yours again, and his easy, charming smile was back in place. âI mean - it fits in perfectly with our plan, doesnât it?â
You nodded. âY-yes, it does âŚâ
Sweet Oz, you were having severe trouble stringing together coherent thoughts with him still being so close to you, his hand still settled on your waist, his chocolate brown eyes twinkling with amusement.
âIâd say that so far itâs all working out rather well, isnât it?â
âHuh?â, was the only thing you were able so say, seeing as you were still entirely too distracted.
Fiyero laughed, the sound warm and bright and achingly familiar. âThe plan, love.â
âRight, right, the plan âŚâ You stuttered, trying to swallow down the sudden, bitter pang of disappointment and forcing a smile onto your face again, not giving Fiyero the chance to say anything in reply. âThough itâs not like we already got them to spend time together, so you really shouldnât feel so gleeful just yet, you havenât even asked Galinda about tomorrow evening yet!â
Fiyero just chuckled, waving aside your concern. âLeave the worrying to me, darling, I know exactly how to go about asking her.â
You nodded faintly, your thoughts only partly fixated on his schemes - or at least on the parts of the schemes actually involving Galinda and Elphaba âŚ
âRight âŚâ
Though Fiyero had told you to leave the worrying to him, you found yourself worrying a lot about all the things that could go wrong - which there were a surprising amount you could think of - over the next day.
Elphabaâs increasingly irritated questions didnât help to soothe your already incredibly frayed nerves in the slightest.
âItâs not that Iâm not thrilled that I get a chance to go to Dr. Cloverâs lecture, because I am, but why is Tigelaar springing this whole âI want to get to know my best friendâs friends'- stuff on me now?â, she grilled you on the way between classes.
You sighed, your grip on the textbooks your were carrying tightening until your knuckles whitened. Somehow, Elphabaâs insistence on calling Fiyero by his last name irked you almost as much as her constant venting about Galinda.
You opened your mouth to say something in Fiyeroâs defense - though, truthfully Elphaba did have a point there -, but Elphaba didnât even give you the chance to say anything, already ploughing on.
âItâs just rather sudden, isnât it? And I know that you like him - though I canât say that I can truly comprehend that fact -, but then he also spends an awful amount of time with Galinda and her posse âŚâ
You sighed. There it was - Galindaâs name.
It seemed that lately, Elphaba always found a way to somehow throw the topic of Galinda and the awfulness of her character into every single conversation you two had, and at this point, you were frankly just exhausted. However far-fetched Fiyeroâs theory about Elphaba and Galinda not truly hating one another might seem to you, and no matter how many doubts you had about this plan of his actually succeeding, at this point you were just glad that he even had a plan that might somehow dissolve the animosity between them at all.
â - so Iâm not too sure that Tigelaar is really the best judge of character there - hey, youâre daydreaming about Tigelaar again instead of listening to me, arenât you?â
Elphabaâs words drew you out of your thoughts and immediately, you felt the blood rush to your cheeks. Which was of course completely ridiculous, because there was simply no reason for you to blush. No, none at all.
âNo, Iâm not daydreaming about-â, you tried to defend yourself - your cheeks were burning and your palms were starting to sweat -, but Elphaba was going on.
âReally? I saw the way you looked at him yesterday - I mean, I see the way you look at him all the timeâ, she said dryly, laughing, when you frantically shook your head. Somehow, this course the conversation was taking was worse than before, even though just a few moments ago youâd have given anything to get off the topic of Galinda.
âWha- no, Iâm not - Iâ, you stammered, scoffing entirely unconvincingly, which only led to Elphaba quirking her brow at you, âwhat- I mean- how am I looking at him?â
Elphaba laughed dryly. âLike he hung the stars in the sky.â
âWhat, no- I- I ⌠thatâs not how I look at Fiyero!â, you stammered, even though your flushed face and the crack in your voice probably didnât exactly help in trying to get your point across.
Elphaba chuckled. âNo, itâs not that bad - yet - but you canât deny that you clearly like Tigelaar.â
âI - would you please stop calling him Tigelaar?â, you said, stalling.
Elphaba ignored your reply, crossing her arms in front of her chest and looking at you pointedly. âSo you do like him, then.â
âI-â, you started to say, but you were distracted when, suddenly, Elphabaâs whole expression changed - her dry, knowing smile turned into a bitter scowl and the open, friendly expression in her eyes was replaced by a furious glare. You didnât even need to turn around to know who had just walked into the hallway. After all, there was only one person that could elicit this kind of reaction from Elphaba.
And sure enough, only seconds later, you could hear Galinda chattering away in her high, affected voice.
"- it's just so rather thrillingly wonderful, isn't it? Fiyero's agreed to show me a few places in town, I'm just absolutely thrillified!"
You froze, your eyes widening. Fiyero had told you to leave the worrying to him, but what if Galinda, of all people, was going to blow your cover now? Oh, you were going to kill Fiyero.
â- but he said he didnât have time for going down to the Ozdust tonight, which is all rather unfortunate, I was so looking forward going out with him âŚâ
Galinda trailed off and a member of her posse - Elphabaâs resentment towards Galinda was really starting to get to you, too, if you were starting to think of Galindaâs friends as her posse as well, but still, for the life of you you couldnât recall the girlâs name in that moment. Which probably had a lot to do with a sudden, bitter feeling coursing through your veins, which felt an awful lot like jealousy.
You shook your head, trying to clear your thoughts.
There was no reason for you to be jealous - you already knew that Fiyero planned on going to the Ozdust with Galinda and some other people next Friday. Heâd asked you to come as well, and it wasnât like you hadnât known about his friendship with Galinda.
So really, there was no reason for you to suddenly feel so jealous - you and Fiyero were just friends, after all.
He was your best friend.
Friendship.
Thatâs all there was, all you felt for him.
So why was it suddenly so hard for you to swallow down this bitter, irrational flare of jealousy?
â - but anyways, Iâll have the Ozdust to look forward to, Iâm sure that itâs going to be absolutely scandalacious!â Galinda continued, giggling and when you looked at Elphaba, rolling her eyes and shaking her head in resentment, you felt that youâd never been more able to relate to her dislike for Galinda - just for a short, fleeting moment, but the thought was there nonetheless, and you bit down hard on your lip, immediately feeling bad.
âCome onâ, Elphaba muttered, grabbing your hand, âletâs just get to class.â
You nodded, following her.
Once youâd rounded the next corner, Elphaba let out frustrated sigh, shaking her head. âBy Oz ⌠does she have to make everything about herself? Itâs like she thinks the worldâs going to stop turning if the conversation doesnât revolve about the thrillifying Galinda Upland âŚâ
You just nodded, still lost in thought.
For once you were glad that Elphaba could seemingly vent about Galinda whenever, wherever. It wasnât exactly a good foreboding for tonight, sure.
But at least it kept her from asking you more questions about Fiyero and your feelings for him - not that there were any feelings worth talking about, you tried to convince yourself for what seemed like the umpteenth time these last few days -, which was all the better for it.
You were already confused enough as it was.
âHow do I look?â, Fiyero asked you, not even turning around, grinning at himself in the mirror instead.
You rolled your eyes, while trying to fight off the blush threatening to color your cheeks. Not that Fiyero was likely to notice, if he continued to stare at himself - though admire was probably a better word for it - in the mirror.
âGood, and you know itâ, you said dryly, shaking your head. âNow can you please get a move on? Weâre already running the risk of being late-â
âAnd Elphaba is very punctual, she doesnât like to be kept waiting - I knowâ, Fiyero finished your sentence for you, finally turning around, his chocolate brown eyes finding yours.
You crossed your arms in front of your chest, trying to cover up your surprise. And the dopey, love-sick smile you apparently couldnât shake off whenever you were so much as just glancing in Fiyeroâs direction - according to Elphaba, at least. Which youâd vehemently tried to deny, when she had pointed it out to you earlier that afternoon, but once Elphaba had made up her mind about something, she wasnât likely to change her opinion about it, as youâd witnessed first-hand these last few days.
You grimaced, remembering the conversation sheâd roped you into after class. Youâd been taken by surprise, thinking that after that whole hallway incident with Galinda, she might have forgotten, or at least dropped the subject, which was very much not the case as it become apparent over lunchtime during which Elphaba wouldnât stop grilling you about Fiyero, your friendship with him and other feelings you were supposedly feeling towards him.
She reminded you a lot of your sister, in that regard. Once your sister had finally come around and begrudgingly accepted your friendship with Fiyero, sheâd also started insinuating that there might be more than just friendship between Fiyero and you, completely disregarding your many vehement protests.
You rolled your eyes. Her and Elphaba would probably get along splendidly, you just knew it.
âWhatâs with the eye roll, darling?â, Fiyero asked you.
Your breath hitched. Youâd been so lost in your thoughts that you hadnât even noticed him finally disregard the mirror and walk over towards you. And now he was suddenly so close to you that you could feel his warm breath on your skin.
Your heart started beating faster, and you had to clamp your hands into fists behind your back to keep from reaching up and brushing that stray strand of brown hair out of his face.
âYou seem nervous, darlingâ, Fiyero said, his voice soft and low.
You nearly jumped. âW-what?â
Fiyero chuckled, but his eyes narrowed with concern. âYouâre nervous .. you probably donât think that the plan is going to work out, do you?â
âI âŚâ
âWell, thereâs no need to be worried, because Iâve got it all figured outâ, he said, rather self-importantly. When you rolled your eyes at his words, it was almost as if it was a reflex, because while Fiyeroâs proximity and the intensity in his brown eyes were still making your heart race in your chest and your throat suddenly felt incredibly dry, rolling your eyes at something he said still came to you like second nature.
âGreat.â
You winced - youâd been aiming for dry and sarcastic, instead your voice just sounded strained.
His eyes softened. âTrust me, thereâs no need to worry, things will work out ⌠well, and if they donât, Iâve finally decided on the engraving for our double tobstone.â
You laughed dryly, shaking your head. âWell, thatâs reassuring.â
He smirked. âTold you - thought of everything.â
âYouâre unbelievable sometimes, you know that, right?â
Fiyero just grinned, before reaching for your hand - suddenly you felt as if there was a whole horde of butterflies flying around wildly in your stomach. âI know Iâm incredible, but now we should really get going - I mean, Iâm always one for being fashionably late, but as Elphaba values punctuality so much âŚâ
âRight, that âŚâ, you nodded, trying to focus your thoughts on the task at hand and not on the fact that he was still holding your hand, tugging you along until youâd reached the door of his dorm room. âSo, weâll go to the lecture with Elphaba-â
â- then Iâll convince her to go for a drink to the Ozcloud with us, where weâll meet Galinda, whom Iâve invited for drinks at the Ozcloud just an hour ago. Elphaba will have been in the library the whole afternoon, because she canât stand spending much more time in her room than is absolutely necessary, so the chances of her having heard of Galindaâs plans for later tonight are very slim, but if by the off-chance that she has heard of it, it wonât be hard for us to find that particular fact out. Should that be the case I just wonât tell her where weâre going for drinks ⌠am I forgetting anything âŚâ
Fiyero trailed off, grinning when he saw your wide eyes. He really had thought this whole thing through - well, at least the set-up of it. As for the actual moment both Elphaba and Galinda realized that theyâd been played you still werenât convinced that they wouldnât just try to kill each other right then and there, but that was a problem for later, you decided.
â - yes ⌠Elphaba will likely take some convincing, regardless of whether she knows about Galinda going to the Ozcloud or not ⌠but luckily for us, I can be very convincing âŚâ
âSure, if by convincing you mean talking so long and fast that people eventually will stop listening âŚâ, you said, laughing, when you saw him scowling.
âWell, it still works, doesnât it?â, he replied in a mock-offended tone.
âSure.â
âDarlinâ, you donât need to sound that sarcastic to get your point across.â
You just laughed, even though the way heâd called you darlin - his voice all soft, his brown eyes finding yours even as you were racing through the corridors - still lingered in your mind, making your heart beat faster.
âWell, with you itâs better to be certain isnât it?â, you played along, even though his grip on your hand tightening suddenly made it very hard for you to focus on anything but the soft look in his eyes.
âNow, whatâs that supposed to mean?â
You just shrugged, intending to play it cool, but when you saw the way Fiyero was trying to fight off a smile, you couldnât help but laugh. For a moment, Fiyero just looked at you, shaking his head, but then he joined in your laughter, the sound soft, warming your heart.
The whole rest of the way through corridors and down several staircases, until you finally arrived at the entrance hall of the library, where youâd promised to pick Elphaba up, neither of you two was able to contain your laughter. With Fiyero, it always was like this. Not simply because his laugh - the real, genuine one, not the overly confident chuckle he so often displayed and youâd come to silently despise a bit - was downright infectious.
No, there was something else, something about the shimmer of amusement in his eyes, the soft smile on his lips that made you want to keep making him laughing.
Just then, you rounded the corner to the libraryâs entrance hall, nearly running into a statue. Fiyeroâs arms were around you in an instant, though, drawing you back just in time.
âCareful there, darlinââ, he murmured. He was so close to you, his chest pressed against your back, his lips just above your ear. You couldnât suppress a shiver, closing your eyes for a moment and trying to regain your composure.
âI, uh - thanks for catching meâ, you whispered, turning around to face Fiyero.
His eyes immediately found yours. Suddenly you were glad that he was still holding you in his arms, because the look in his eyes instantly turned your knees into jelly.
Your breath hitched, and you noticed the way Fiyeroâs eyes flickered towards your lips, before meeting yours again.
You found yourself leaning towards him, even closer until you were so close that you felt his warm breath on your skin - was it just your imagination or did his breathing suddenly sound incredibly heavy and strained as well? - he was so close to you, it was making your head spin-
Just then, someone cleared their throat loudly.
Your eyes widened and you jumped away from Fiyero.
Your cheeks burned. You didnât even have to look up to know Elphaba was standing there.
And sure enough, after youâd scrounged up the courage to look back up, your eyes landed on Elphaba, who was looking at you with an incredibly smug, self-satisfied expression on her face. She only needed to quirk her eyebrows in a âSee? I told youâ-fashion for you to flush.
You bit down hard on your lip, trying your hardest not to look over at Fiyero, even though you could feel his gaze hard and heavy on you.
You knew, then, that no matter what would happen tonight, no matter what went down between Elphaba and Galinda once the second part of Fiyeroâs plan was finally set in motion, Elphaba would never let you hear the end of your supposed feelings for Fiyero.
Though - what if, maybe, just maybe, there was a kernel of truth to her teasing remarks that afternoon?
Maybe there was something there between you and Fiyero, something ⌠more.
Something that you hadnât seen, hadnât realized, before.
Something more than just friendship, something more akin to the way you felt drawn to him, almost magnetic, like he was your anchor, always keeping you afloat.
âAh, Elphaba!â
Fiyeroâs voice - that sounded far too bright and cheerful, causing you to wince and Elphaba to cross her arms in front of her chest, raising her eyebrows at him - drew you out of your thoughts. His arms were still on your hips, and when you finally scrounged up the courage to look up at Elphaba again, your cheeks were burning. Elphabaâs knowing smirk confirmed your suspicions that, at this point, you were looking like an overly ripe tomato.
âPunctual as always, shall we get going then?â, Fiyero said, his hands finally leaving your waist.
Though Fiyero tried to catch your gaze, you determinedly averted your eyes, pressing your lips together and walking over towards where Elphaba was standing.
âLetâs go then, we donât want to be lateâ, was all you said, as you followed Elphaba out of the library entrance hall, your cheeks burning and your mind spinning the whole way to the small lecture hall.
It didnât help that Fiyeroâs eyes kept finding yours, his gaze burning on your skin. When your shoulders brushed, you nearly jumped.
You did to your best to ignore the pointed look Elphaba gave you then, offering Fiyero a shaky, uncertain smile, before turning away from him again, pressing your lips together.
Sweet Oz, you couldnât wait for this evening to finally be over.
And yet, you knew that that was a lie - even though the way your heart seemed to beat faster when you sat down next to Fiyero in the lecture hall absolutely terrified you, the soft, reassuring smile on his lips seemed to calm your nerves in an instant.
âYou alright there, darling? You seem a bit peakyâ, he whispered, leaning closer towards you.
You nodded. âY-yes, just - nervous, I guess âŚâ
âHeyâ, Fiyero whispered, grabbing your hand and squeezing it, âitâs all going to work out just fine, trust me.â
You just nodded, hoping that he was right.
Everything would work out just fine, you tried to tell yourself.
But as the lecture began, and you felt Fiyero trying to catch your gaze again after a particular remark that Dr. Clover made, you couldnât help but notice Elphabaâs satisfied smile as well.
Everything would work out just fine, you repeated to yourself, your heart starting to beat faster when Fiyero flashed you a soft smile.
Everything would work out just fine.
And, hopefully, not just between Galinda and Elphaba.
it's finally here!! I'm so sorry for the long wait, hopefully some of you will still care to read this even after it's been nearly a month since i first announced this fic! hopefully it won't take me as long to get around to writing and finishing part II!

[Wicked: For Good speculation/predictions]
[obviously spoilers + wild conjecture + musings]
Okay so I have many thoughts about what we might get in the second film, and decided to put them all in one place; so here we are.
1.) I've heard a lot of people mentioning that the movie might choose not to jump straight into Thank Goodness, and instead opt for some sort of buffer opening to establish the time-skip and whatnot. I think it would be amazing to actually see Elphaba flying around Oz saving Animals and being harbored as a fugitive and stuff; maybe we could even get reintroduced to Brrr briefly! He's obviously able to speak, so maybe that implies Fiyero took him to an Animal resistance group or something for safety? The map of Oz shown in Something Bad does imply that there might be such groups around, plus of course Doctor Dillamond mentioning protests. Maybe we'll get to see some of that on-screen; I think that would be fascinating. Maybe as kind of a soft adaptation of Elphaba's domestic terrorist phase in the book. This is possibly all supported as well by the shots we've seen of the Yellow Brick Road under construction; presumably this will be early in the film, since obviously it must predate Dorothy's arrival, so I suspect these might be the opening scenes before we get to see how Oz is reacting to Elphaba's activities at the start of Thank Goodness.
2.) I suspect we'll find out that Madame Morrible is not only the one who brought Dorothy to Oz, but also the Wizard â and maybe even more interestingly, caused the Great Drought (which I think is quite heavily implied to be the Dust Bowl, based on the time period and a scrawling on one of the chalkboards in the background; which I think is meant to be Dillamond's research). (My current headcanon is that Morrible accidentally caused the formation of the Impassable Desert (since it is also mentioned on the same chalkboard), which caused a ripple effect out into Kansas and started the Dust Bowl.) If we do get more background on Morrible and her earlier magic experimentation (and maybe even the Grimmerie), I suspect we'll learn that her heart's desire was always to be the prophesied magical savior of Oz, and the Grimmerie based on those vibes (since it seems to read the hearts of the ones using it and flip to pages that will give them what they want, like how it heard "birds" and went straight to relevant pages) brought the Wizard (and by extension, Elphaba) and Dorothy into Oz. In a way it feels like the Grimmerie is sort of the dark magical inverse of what the Wizard does: they hear the desires of people's hearts, and "grant" it in a deceptive way. The Wizard "grants" wishes through bullshitery and spectacle (and the people who come to him for help always end up having to get what they wanted themselves), while the Grimmerie "grants" wishes using real magic (and so can actually give things that the wisher didn't already possess) but always in a fucked up way that they'll end up regretting. I've already made a post about the theme of "the heart's desire" and how it's explored in the original Wizard of Oz and in Wicked â and maybe at some point I'll do a longer analysis of that (for instance, the fact the Wizard was in possession of the book and got his heart's desire to be a father in the most catastrophic way imaginable) â but it's really interesting if we consider that Morrible's desire seems to be to essentially be the Witch of Oz, and the answer given by the Grimmerie might basically have been the giant magical backfire that brought all three of the most plot-important characters into Oz in the first place. It's possible this won't actually be explained and will remain in headcanon territory, but with the way they've been focusing more on Madame Morrible I think we'll probably get at least a little something exploring her background and connections with the Wizard (and it would be really interesting if we got more stuff relating to the Grimmerie in the process).
3.) In the frames we've seen of Dorothy, the slippers are still silver! Not ruby! We know from interviews that the production team read the original Wonderful Wizard of Oz and took heavy inspiration from it, so I assume keeping the shoes silver was an executive decision on their part. But it has some really interesting implications about what sort of changes might've been made to Part 2. We already knew that we're getting major alterations to Nessa's narrative â groundwork for that was already laid in the ways they changed her in the first movie, particularly surrounding her relationship to Elphaba and her agency regarding movement, which I think is great â but regarding this I've heard some people asking if this means we might not get Nessarose standing. Marissa Bode who plays her is capable of limited standing and walking, so I doubt that part will have been cut entirely; but I'm really curious about the ways in which Nessa's story might have been rewritten. The point of her independence has been emphasized a lot thus far, so I think we might get some tweaking (or outright cutting) of the "hideous chair with wheels" bit; and with how we got the lines about Nessa wanting to make a new start and Elphaba getting in the way of that, I think it's likely we'll get less of a focus on "why haven't you used your powers to help me walk Elphaba?" and more on "wow, you ruined my life again Elphaba". I am curious about whether Nessa will still be able to read the Grimmerie (which always felt a little like a plot hole/contrivance in the original show, so it would need a proper explanation at the very least), or if perhaps â since I believe it's being set up that the Grimmerie can "read" people around it and give them a fucked up version of what they think they want â Nessarose's dark desire at that moment is to not have a heart (kinda like that line from the 1939 movie: "As for you, my galvanized friend: you want a heart. You don't know how lucky you are not to have one. Hearts will never be practical until they can be made unbreakable") and gets Elphaba to read it: but neither knows what it will actually do until Boq's heart starts shrinking away into nothingness. (Also I'm fairly positive that the still we got of Elphaba below is from the Colwen Grounds scene with Nessa and Boq: I've heard some people presuming it's from No Good Deed, but the background, her expression (which seems to me to be obviously her trying to get Nessa/Boq to calm tf down), and the fact she seems to be in the same costume as in the Yellow Brick Road scene, tells me it's almost certainly from Wicked Witch of the East.)
4.) We're told to expect two new songs from Stephen Schwartz! I'm extremely curious what these might be (and naturally, Gelphie simp as I am, would like at least one one of them to have some more good ol' gay goodness from our girls), but we don't have a whole lot to go on for clues yet other than (as far as I can tell, unconfirmed?) reports that one is an Elphaba solo and the other is a Glinda solo. This is very exciting of course, but until we have more insight it's still too early to make deep predictions. Although as for hopes, I'd obviously like for a new Glinda number to involve her grappling with her feelings more â a much-needed addition â and for Elphaba to perhaps get some of that as well (it would help the lead-up to Wonderful make a bit more narrative sense, if nothing else). And if it turns out they aren't Glinda or Elphaba songs, then I think Fiyero or Boq deserve to get a little bit more to sing. All Schwartz has said thus far is that the new music was made to meet the needs of the story: so (since the two songs DON'T seem to just be reworkings of existing ones, and are actually all-new, film-only material) that further supports the fact we'll be getting fairly major changes to the plot.
5.) The Glinda-Fiyero wedding seems to either happen or very nearly happen??? Extremely interesting expansion on the original material, I can't wait to see what they do with it. I've heard some people saying it might just be a fantasy sequence or something â and I suppose it could be â but I don't think so; the style of filmmaking and writing is deliberately "grounded" to make Oz feel real, and the first film didn't have any imaginary scenes. I think the wedding scene will happen at the same time as (or directly before) Wonderful, and will probably be interrupted: maybe by the release of the flying monkeys, the Wizard rallying the guards after Elphaba, or â scandal! â even by Elphaba herself! (No, I don't think we'll be getting the "I object!" sequence out of Shrek, even though it would be hilariously apropos, lol.) We've seen an image of what looks like Elphaba back in the Emerald City (maybe right before Wonderful, perhaps sneaking into the Wizard's palace to free the Animals; or perhaps just after Wonderful, after finding Doctor Dillamond and deciding to remain the Wizard's enemy?), and judging by when these events would have to line up based on the story of the musical, I think these are almost certainly within the same section. It seems like the wedding sequence might be a decent spot for some of the new music: or maybe a beefed-up version of Glinda's I'm Not That Girl, if she got left at the altar or something.
6.) We've seen this image of Glinda running up a staircase (with the Grimmerie in hand, and in her Bubble Dress): this seems very likely to be immediately after For Good and the Melting â I suspect Glinda is heading up the stairs to see the aftermath, recover Elphie's hat, and receive the green bottle from Chistery. OR, it could also be related to the Wizard â the wood reminds me of the tower in the Emerald City palace where all of Oscar Diggs' old stuff from Omaha was stored at the end of the first film, so I'm wondering if this is Glinda going up to confront him after realizing that he's Elphaba's father, maybe.
EDIT: I realized after reviewing a better quality image with higher contrast and saturation that the latter possibility I suggested is more likely than the former â behind the wooden beams are the emerald blocks we see in the Wizard's palace, so this frame seems almost certainly to be from the scene where Glinda confronts the Wizard in his tower after returning from Kiamo Ko. And what a brilliant way to do that scene, if indeed that's what this is: the Wizard isn't just sitting despondent in his throne room, he went up to wallow in his old mediocrity â and Glinda doesn't just fly up to him, she ascends the same path she once went up with Elphie, processing her grief the whole way up. The painnnnnnn. It makes her ordering him to fly away in the same balloon that he arrived in â and that Glinda and Elphaba NEARLY escaped in before everything â all the more bitter and ironic. Can't wait to see Jeff Goldblum sell the Wizard's descent into the mother of all midlife crises, fiddling with his old sideshow props in the attic as he comes to know the true despair wrought by his hand.
7.) Will the ending be changed?? It seems all but confirmed that the cloaked figure riding away out of Kiamo Ko at the start of Part 1 was Elphaba: this costume concept for the second film looks identical to what we saw the rider wearing. Add to that (as I've talked about in a prior post) the fact the Scarecrow is shown alongside Dorothy on the Yellow Brick Road, implies that at the very least the events of the last few minutes of the musical have been revised. My earlier post listed four different possible alterations (from Elphaba leaving Oz alone, to her still meeting with Fiyero somewhere else after everything, to her somehow letting Glinda and/or Fiyero know she's alive before leaving, or (hope against hope) that she takes Glinda with her), but it's still far too early to tell what they might've gone with. I just hope that at least wrote it better than it was originally. The image of Elphaba riding out of Oz on horseback across the desert would certainly be striking, no matter which option they chose.

Chapter 2?
The Emerald City was always dazzling, but nothing compared to the first time Fiyero Tigelaar smiled at you.
You had always been more comfortable in the shadows of the grand halls of Shiz University, nose buried in a book while the world danced around you. And danced they didâespecially Fiyero, the carefree prince who swept through life without a worry.
You had never expected him to notice you.
And yet, there he was, standing in the library, leaning against the shelf you were browsing, that signature smirk tugging at his lips.
"Tell me," he drawled, tilting his head. "What could possibly be more interesting than skipping class and having a little fun?"
Your fingers tightened around your book. "Learning, for one."
He chuckled, the sound rich and amused. "You sound like Elphaba."
Your lips twitched. "And you donât."
Fiyero placed a dramatic hand over his chest. "Ouch. Wounded." But there was a glint in his eyes, like heâd found something intriguing.
You tried to return to your book, but he wasnât having it.
"Come on," he coaxed. "I promise, just one dance. One night where you donât have to think so hard."
You hesitated. You knew his reputation. Fiyero Tigelaar was all charm, all mischief. And yet, something in the way he looked at youâlike you were a puzzle he wanted to solveâmade your heart beat just a little faster.
Maybe, just once, you could let yourself dance.
And so, with a sigh and a reluctant smile, you let him take your hand.
Fiyero's grin widened as you hesitantly placed your hand in his. "See? That wasnât so hard."
You rolled your eyes but let him pull you through the dimly lit halls of Shiz. It was late enough that most students had retreated to their dorms, leaving only the faint hum of the wind and the distant laughter of Munchkinland exchange students still lingering near the courtyards.
âWhere exactly are we going?â you asked, half-curious, half-wary.
âYouâll see,â he said, that ever-present mischief twinkling in his eyes.
Moments later, you found yourself in the grand ballroom, its crystal chandeliers casting a golden glow over the polished floors. It was empty, save for the two of you.
âFiyero,â you said slowly, âdid you break in?â
He scoffed. âI prefer âborrowed without permission.â Besides, the doors were practically begging to be opened.â
You gave him a look, but before you could protest, he tugged you forward, one arm slipping around your waist as the other held your hand.
âI donâtââ
âDonât worry about steps,â he interrupted. âJust follow my lead.â
And for once, you did.
The music in the room was nonexistent, but somehow, Fiyeroâs presence filled the silence, his movements effortlessly smooth as he twirled you across the floor. At first, you were stiff, uncertain, but the way he looked at youâlike you were the only thing worth paying attention toâmade your heart race.
âYouâre a natural,â he murmured, his voice softer now.
You let out a breathless laugh. âYouâre lying.â
âMaybe,â he admitted, smirking. âBut I like the way you laugh when you let go.â
His words sent a warmth through you, something dangerously close to giddiness. This wasnât how youâd expected your night to go. You were supposed to be in the library, studying, not twirling under the soft glow of candlelight with a charming prince.
But then again, Fiyero had a way of making you forget about expectations.
As he spun you one last time, you stumbled, and in an instant, he caught youâhis arms steady, his face inches from yours.
For the first time since you met him, he wasnât grinning.
He was just looking at you.
Your breath hitched. âFiyero?â
He hesitated, his fingers tightening slightly at your waist. âYou make it very difficult to just be charming, you know.â
You swallowed. âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âIt means,â he murmured, tilting his head, âthat I might actually want to dance with you again. And not just because itâs fun.â
The words sent your heart into a frenzy. This wasnât just a game to him. Not anymore.
And for once, you didnât want to run from the feeling.
So you smiled, just slightly, and whispered, âThen ask me again sometime.â
Fiyero grinnedâthis time, something softer, something real.
âOh, I will.â
And as the two of you stood there, wrapped in the quiet magic of the moment, you realized something.
For a moment, neither of you moved.
Fiyero was still holding you close, his grip steady, his breath warm against your skin. Your heart pounded in a way that had nothing to do with the dance. It would be so easy to close the gap, to let yourself fall into whatever this was.
But thenâ
âAhem.â
The sound of someone clearing their throat shattered the moment like glass.
You and Fiyero broke apart, spinning toward the source of the interruption. Standing in the doorway, arms crossed, was none other than Elphaba.
Her expression was unreadable, but her raised brow told you she had been watching for far longer than youâd like.
âShould I even ask what you two are doing in here?â she deadpanned.
Fiyero, ever the smooth talker, flashed a grin. âElphie! What a lovely surprise. I was just giving our dear friend here an essential lesson in the art of not taking life too seriously.â
Elphabaâs eyes flickered to you. âAnd youâre going along with this?â
You hesitated. âI⌠wasnât exactly given a choice.â
Elphaba snorted. âOf course not.â
Fiyero put a hand to his chest in mock offense. âWhy does everyone assume the worst of me?â
Elphaba ignored him, turning her attention fully to you. âLook, I get it. Heâs charming, and sometimes he even pretends to be deep. But donât let him fool you.â
âElphaba,â Fiyero groaned. âCan we not ruin the moment?â
She smirked. âThatâs exactly what Iâm here for.â
You couldnât help but laugh at their banter, the tension in your chest easingâjust a little.
Elphaba sighed and looked at you again, her expression a little softer. âJust⌠be careful.â Then, with a pointed look at Fiyero, she added, âAnd youâstop stealing dance partners in the middle of the night.â
Fiyero raised his hands innocently. âI make no promises.â
With a shake of her head, Elphaba turned on her heel and disappeared down the hall.
As soon as she was gone, Fiyero let out a dramatic sigh. âWell, that was unfortunate timing.â
You bit your lip to hide a smile. âSheâs not wrong, you know.â
âOh, donât tell me sheâs won you over with her anti-Fiyero propaganda.â
You shrugged playfully. âShe has a point.â
Fiyero sighed and placed a hand over his heart. âYou wound me.â But his eyes were still locked on you, something teasing, something warm.
And then, before you could say anything else, he took your hand once more and bowed, pressing a light, fleeting kiss to your knuckles.
âUntil next time, my favorite dance partner.â
Your breath caught, your skin tingling where his lips had touched.
You should have pulled away, should have laughed it off.
But instead, you whispered, âUntil next time.â
And as you walked away, heart pounding, you knew that thisâwhatever this wasâwas far from over.
. . .
You had told yourself that was the end of it.
That one dance with Fiyero Tigelaar was just a fleeting moment, a small ripple in the otherwise quiet routine of your life at Shiz. But the next morning, as you made your way to class, you realized how wrong you were.
Because the second you stepped into the lecture hall, there he was.
Fiyero was leaning against a desk near the back, chatting lazily with a few students who were hanging onto his every word. But the moment his eyes found yours, his entire expression shiftedâhis signature smirk slipping into something softer.
You should have looked away.
Instead, your feet betrayed you by stopping in place, heat creeping up your neck when he tilted his head in amusement.
"Well, well," he drawled, making his way over to you with that effortless, lazy confidence. "Fancy meeting you here."
You folded your arms. "This is a classroom, Fiyero. Meeting me here isn't exactly fate."
"Maybe not," he mused, stopping just a little too close. "But wouldnât it be more fun if it was?"
You huffed, trying to ignore the way your pulse picked up. "Are you always like this?"
Fiyero grinned. "Only when I find someone worth bothering."
You definitely werenât blushing.
Before you could come up with a response, the professor entered, forcing you to take your usual seat. But even as the lecture began, you could still feel Fiyeroâs gaze lingering on you.
And that was only the beginning.
For the next several days, Fiyero seemed to have made it his personal mission to insert himself into your life.
At breakfast, he conveniently happened to sit at the same table as you.
("Did you know you look adorable when you're concentrating on your food?")
During study sessions in the library, he'd show up claiming he needed "urgent help" with his courseworkâonly to somehow derail the entire session with his antics.
("I swear, I was about to take notes! But then I got distracted by how serious you look when you're thinking.")
And worst of all? The little things.
Like the way he always greeted you with an easy smile, like he had been waiting to see you. Or how he casually brushed his fingers against yours when passing you a book. Or the way his voice softened whenever he said your name.
It was dangerous.
And yet, despite yourself, you found that you didnât hate it.
One evening, as you were leaving the library, you felt a familiar presence fall into step beside you.
"You know," Fiyero said casually, hands in his pockets, "for someone who claimed that dance was a one-time thing, you haven't exactly been avoiding me."
You scoffed. "You're the one who keeps appearing everywhere I go."
He gasped in mock offense. "Are you suggesting Iâm stalking you?"
"Iâm suggesting you have too much free time."
Fiyero grinned. "And yet, here you are, talking to me again."
You rolled your eyes, but you couldnât fight the small smile tugging at your lips.
The two of you walked in comfortable silence for a while, the path illuminated by the soft glow of Shizâs lanterns.
Then, after a moment, Fiyero spoke againâhis voice quieter this time.
"You know, I wasnât lying that night."
You glanced at him. "About what?"
His usual playful expression was gone, replaced by something unreadable. "About wanting to dance with you again."
Your breath hitched.
Fiyero stopped walking, turning to face you fully. The warm light from the lanterns cast a golden hue over his features, highlighting the sincerity in his eyes.
"You make me want to try," he admitted softly. "To be more than just some prince who coasts through life. And I donât really know why yet, but... I think I want to find out."
Your heart stumbled.
For the first time, Fiyero Tigelaar wasnât just charming or teasing.
He was real.
And you knew, deep down, that this wasnât just a game to him anymore.
It wasnât a game to you, either.
But before you could figure out what to sayâbefore you could even process the weight of his wordsâthunder rumbled in the distance, shaking the sky.
A storm was coming.
And somehow, you had a feeling it wasnât just the weather.

glinda and fiyero, both being for all intents and purposes on the same footing socially, are two sides of the same coin on what happens to those who come from privilege if they choose to forsake their standing in the face of adversity. they come from the same place, they have essentially the same thing to lose, but they end UP losing insanely different things based on the way they choose to live their lives. however, glinda and fiyero have the same thing to lose, but they do NOT have the same thing to gain.*
fiyero is of course actually very smart, no matter how carefree he plays himself, but before elphaba, before the catalyst, he WAS truly content with dancing through life-- he probably would have skated through on his looks and his charm, living a blessed but ultimately unfulfilling, unhappy life, with no real direction. but when given a cause he wakes up and begins to actually want. he wants change, wants elphaba, wants something different than what he's had. though it comes at obvious sacrifice for him, it is natural for him to follow elphaba. there is no personal risk of straying off his path because there is no real path ahead of him anyway. yes, he's captain of the guard, he's engaged to glinda-- but his heart is not truly with them. he has already mentally strayed towards elphaba.
glinda, though, is not like fiyero. she can play herself as charming as she wants to match him and everyone that expects anything from her, but she's at shiz to learn sorcery-- from the moment she's introduced we know that she's dead set on that goal. she WANTS something. she, like elphaba, marvels at the emerald city, imagining her life there one day. so when faced with this fatal decision between choosing what might be good but what is risky, she panics-- it's right there in the lyric!! to grovel in submission to feed her own ambition!! though part of it is certainly her backing into what is safe, she can't let go of her own dream for what would effectively kill every future she ever dreamed of. glinda is WILLING to forfeit her SOCIAL status for elphaba-- it's just that she's smart enough to understand that this is not simply forfeiting social status. this is forfeiting any and all power she ever could have, gain, or use to her/elphaba's advantage.
however: glinda's choice may seem entirely based in self preservation but she's also just as much trying to preserve elphaba's, maybe not safety, but status, because that's what she thinks of as safety. though it's unfair, glinda is right-- maybe not in this instance, but at least in the broad strokes of the song. elphaba HAS hurt her cause forever, she IS having delusions of grandeur, and this is going to make it that much harder for elphaba to ever truly make change regarding animals in oz because as a villain all she can do is drive people away (though ofc this doesn't mean she shouldn't have done what she did). glinda is desperately bargaining-- she knows elphaba cares about the animals, but she doesn't truly understand why, so there is nothing she could have said or done to level with elphaba. glinda ultimately still thinks that change is manageable under the people responsible for cruelty. she's misguided, unaware of the weight of what's happening. it's why she calls it ELPHABA'S cause, not the animals' cause, because she's not really concerned with the greater good at the moment, she's focused on saving her and her best friend. she's smart enough to understand power play, but not aware enough to understand what all that power means, really, at least not in the moment of act 1.
we can speculate what the "good" choice would have been for glinda but the real truth of the show is that the choice she made was the only one she was ever going to, though it might not be just or right or the one she should have.
#*also having something to gain â reason to make the decision#veered far away from fiyero but you understand#apologies if i mischaracterized him it's been a minute since i saw the show#glinda works the system for her own benefit but also for social change at least in the end#and it's fucked up that it's how it is#she âwinsâ in terms of achieving all her goals of power and fame and even avenges elphaba's goals#but in the end she still ends up mourning alone#that is the difference between her and fiyero#the wicked die alone#ok done!#for good#wicked#elphaba thropp#galinda upland#fiyero tigelaar#wicked movie#mine#wicked spoilers

oh dont apologise i loved your essay đ and i 100% agree with everything. Theres such a innate theme of choices and consequences in wicked the musical and its so fascinating to me how choices made by all the characters have such profound consequences at the end. And fiyeroâs choices are no different in the way they alter the trajectory of multiple characters.
He is really the only one i can think of who sacrifices everything for elphaba and does it all willingly. How do you like elphaba and then dislike the one character who was ready to give up his whole life and everything that came with it for her đ
Twitter is very binary in that regard honestly, and its such a shame that they miss out on some pretty interesting character analysis about their favourite characters bc they decide to be so rigid and weird about other characters who had an impact on their faves. Couldnt be me lol, making multiple threads about a character you hate. I also think something else is at play here but dont wanna say it publicly lol but given your other responses i think youâd probably agree.
And yes totally agree about dividing the film in two parts - i can only hope the film watchers stick around for part 2 and see fiyeroâs whole arc
thanks for the ask! also i wrote another fiyero ted talk. if i were like charles dickens or whoever and i was getting paid by the word to write about fiyero, i could be so goddamn rich btw.
anyways, choices and consequences!!!!! like that's the whole thing!!!!!!! and the way our choices affect and change other people!!!! fiyero isn't an exception to any of that!!!!
you're so right that fiyero is truly the one who makes the ultimate sacrifices for elphaba. like glinda loves elphaba, she absolutely does. but she isn't able to take on the work and life that elphaba chooses in defying gravity.
when it comes to the things that are most important to her, glinda prioritizes comfort and reputation over, like, morality and principle. and the thing about glinda is that she actively makes this choice. she chooses not to go with elphaba. she wants elphaba to succeed, but she's not brave enough to join her. in order for glinda to find the bravery to take up the work elphaba starts, she has to lose everything that actually matters. and she has to be complicit in her own losing of those things.
fiyero loves elphaba to the point of sacrificing all of those things that glinda can't resist. the day with the lion cub, and elphaba's general influence on him, changes fiyero profoundly in a similar way that she affects glinda, but fiyero finds the bravery to act on all of that. the difference is that he doesn't get the choice to go with her until mid-act 2 after wonderful.
in thank goodness, there's that one exchange between fiyero and glinda where they say smth like "you just can't resist all of this" "well who could?" "you know who could, and who has." and he's talking about elphaba, he's talking about how she had all the love she ever wanted at the tip of her fingers when she met the wizard, and she chose to let it go because she saw the ugly parts of the wizard's world. and this exchange is so clearly boiling it down to "elphaba resisted the temptation of being universally/publically loved and glinda did not." which tbh is something so in character for a person who has never had that, and a person who has always had that and thus doesn't want to leave it behind.
ok i was going somewhere with this but i don't remember where. just. fiyero isn't a perfect character. and for SURE the choice to erase gelphie's romantic subtext from the book when adapting it for broadway was an act of homophobia. but if we're just looking at musical canon, fiyero is brave enough to give up everything first to save elphaba, then to go with her, and then to protect her. and so-called elphaba stans don't think that's good enough. which is CRAZY to me.
also like. he's literally not the comphet love interest. sorry you didn't mention that but i keep seeing people throw those words around and like that's not what's happening here guys. elphaba loves him. she sings a whole song about it. multiple, even.
comphet implies that she mistakenly thinks she loves him because society has molded her into believing that's how she should be (fyi if anyone's experiencing that, it's glinda but i digress). elphaba, who notably has never been able to comply to the mold society makes for women, because she's never been pretty white woman enough to be afforded a place in that society? you mean that elphaba?
guys elphaba just...loves him. that's all there is to it. she loves him when she realizes he's more than he thinks he is, more than the airs he puts off. she loves him when she feared he might have changed, she loves him when he proves he did change--for the better. she loves him when he sticks by her, when he chooses her. she loves him when he's a fucking SCARECROW. ("go ahead, touch, i don't mind" "you're still beautiful" lives in my head rent fucking free).
when she has her breakthrough "okay. fuck this world that has never been good to me, if you want me to be wicked, i'll be wicked" moment, it's because she loses fiyero. she gets betrayed by nessa, and she fails dillamond, and she loses fiyero--and it's then that she loses sight of what good she had begun fighting for. it's a love for fiyero that drives most of no good deed (broadway songs of all time btw). like sorry but you dont sing someone's name like that if you don't love them. that's just musical theatre rules. trust me i was a theatre major.
anyways. sorry for that detour. back to the point. twitter treats everything as so black and white which is crazy because this is a revisionist musical about how evil isn't black and white. like?????? whatever. imagine being so bitter about a character you dislike that you want to change fundamental pieces of your favorite character so that he isn't relevant.
look. gelphie is great doomed yuri and i support that so hard. but dont try to tell me fiyero isn't deeply important to elphaba and to understanding elphaba's character. tbh the love triangle here isn't fiyero choosing between glinda and elphaba. it's more like elphaba choosing between glinda and fiyero and what either of them represent to her (glinda and working within the system, or fiyero, and abandoning it).
and hot take maybe but like ultimately--as someone who has never been conventionally accepted, as someone who has been hunted down to be murdered, as someone who has been the victim of a smear campaign and propaganda against her character/intentions, all of which was in part driven by glinda--she was always going to choose fiyero.
i respect gelphie shippers, i do. in another world, maybe one without the wizard, they could've been so happy together. i'm with y'all. but given canon, even if all others fall, i will be the last fiyero defender standing. god i hope movie-only fans watch part 2 and at least learn to RESPECT him. at the bare minimum. please. please. please.

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished |
ăTwisted Wonderland x Elphaba!Readeră
[you the wicked witch from the west had died, but to your surprise you had woken up inside a coffin in an unfamiliar world. You had also noticed your magic had more freedom and your power seem to mix to those in this world] < FYI : no Fiyero doesn't exist in your OZ world, you are completly alone, >
âąâş. âËâ§âęˇęŚęˇââ§Ëââš.âąâąâş. âËâ§âęˇęŚęˇââ§Ëââš.âąâąâş. âËâ§âęˇęŚęˇââ§Ëââš.âą
you had accepted your fate to be painted as the villain and died by a very underhand method such as being thrown water. That pesky girl who has killed your sister, and the con who had framed you the real magician. You had tried your best to help everybody and every creature from a crueler fate, only for those same people to go against you, going as far as holding a witch hunt for you.
Fated to be scorned just for the green hue of your skin, something you had no control over. Such a heinous thing humanity is. you could hear the party that they will throw over your death, No one mourns for the wicked, save for your best friend, Glinda, who had been wiser than to judge based on appearance, a true friend. Unfortunately, she too was unable to save you from your grueling fate.
Yet here you are, trapped in a coffin.
"Have I finally died?" you thought. What more does God want from you, did They think that punishment is not enough for you?
you scoffed at the thought.
You were startled when the lid was suddenly slammed open by a racoon? Cat? looking creature with fire ears demanding your robe?
' Did this creature think this robe on me is going to fit him?'
'Also where did this robe come from? and did he think that by giving the robe he was going to let a woman bare naked? what a crazy guy'
so, you ran, pulling the hood, as you thought it is better for no body to find out that you are horrendious green from head to toe, and finding yourself in an impressive library. The creature had cornered you Just before the headmage trapped him in his leash using his power.
"Ah, i've found you at last. Splendid. I trust you're one of this year's new students." he then went on and on about how you should've controlled your familiar.
" Woah! we never have a student as... green as you.. how unusual." he said upon seeing your hand. You quickly covered your hand with your robe just as you had covered your face.
" that is alright, Here in NIght Raven collage we accept everybody just as how they are as long as they are chosen by the mirror of course."
He then forced you to go back to the room with coffin. There you found a lot of students wearing the same robe as you.
' is this the same type of school as Shiz University?'
The headmage, Crowley end his bickering with some other students before beckoning you to move to the mirror. You had yourself walk foward to the strange talking mirror. As strange as your original world is you had never seen a magical talking mirror. Sure, a talking face, but it is a mechanic created to be an illusion by that horrible con, Oz.
you hated the attention that is suddenly drafted towards you, you slouch as you reached the Dark mirror.
" The nature of your soul is........ unclear to me."
" what did you say?!"
" sure i can sense a magical power residing on this girl, yet it is unfamiliar, strange, foreign.. i have never encounter this sort of power in my whole life. therefore no dorm is appropriate."
Dorm? Magic power? what the hell is this mirror on about.
" Are you suggesting the black carriage went to receive a Girl?! and with a strange magic? Absurd! the student selection process has not erred once in its century of existence! how could this happened?!"
"HMMPH! ME! Let me have this student place!" the creature who called himself Grim had broken free from the leash. He then started insisting and creating a huge chaos.
in a panic you noticed you still have your grimore with you. odd i thought i had given this to Glinda to protect. you quickly flip over the pages.
you found and recite a spell for the target to follow your word for a brief minute just before the little guy breathe his flame towards a red eyed boy.
"Sit boy, down."
to your surprise most of the students and the headmage himself had fallen down to their butt sitting as they looked bewildred.
" a... i meant that creature not you."
"RAGHHHH!! UNHAND ME UNHAND MEE!" Grim shrilled.
" how... HOW DARE YOU? UNHAND ME THIS INSTANT!" said the red hair boy
" impossible..." said the pretty glasses guy.
" How brazen of you to order Me around, I will rip you into pieces." said the lion eared guy. odd he reminded you of that cowardly lion you had saved, such ungrateful creature whomst had blamed his cowardice on you.
" You! How dare you make me touch the floor!" said the gorgeous blind guy with purple tip.
"Whoaa?!! i am on the floor?!! How??" the boy with the bandana wrapped around his white hair exclaimed.
" Wuh WHAAA.. what is this ssr op power?! scary..." the floating tablet shouted.
" To be casted with a spell how unruly the new student this year is. OH, woe is me... Uncast me this instant!!!"
The other students had started to cuzz profanities at you as well making you more nervous. ' Ah its this again, everytime i tried to help.. i get punished..'
you fumbled around confused as usually in your world the enchantment would only work towards the target intended and usually the enchantment you practied were a permanent one, you hoped this won't last long.
" don't tell me you do not know how to unchant your spell?"
"uhhh..."
thank fully in a moment your enchantment is broken as the headmage start to stand up and dust himself, so as the other students.
The red haired boy spring up and start to point his gem pen? towards you.
" OFF WITH YOUR HE--"
" that won't be necessary Mr. Roseheart. Now you!"
The bird feathered headmage ripped oven your hood as he exposed you to the whole school followed with gasps acrossm the room.
" she is green?!"
" i never seen a green person before."
You grow weary and insecure as you tried to remove the headmage hold on you.
"I'm sorry i didn't mean to, But i acted in panic because this cuz is going to fire his flame to that white haired guy!" you defended yourself.
" haaa.. for now throw this creature out of the game. and the ceremony should end here." he said as you saw students following the guys somewhere.
" now you come with me.."
he tried to bring you back where you came from to no avail so he settle for you to reside in the abandoned dorm, of course that is interrupted by the same creature. although, your impression of him seem to falter as he was obedient towards you and you found his catlu behaviour rather cute, so you dont mind to have him as your companion. Crowley explain the situation to you, but since you are a girl you are still exempt from the courses and sadly are forced towards cleaning duty. He of course didn't hear you when you state that you had died in your world and so his agreement are something you can't refuse.
The next day you are met with Ace and his cocky personality trying to get even with the incident at the opening ceremony, you, not wanting to throw another chaos, refrain from using your spells since you had not learn the extend of the effect of this world to your power, but of course, Grim had to assert himself and created the chaos for you.
You are then met with Deuce who had helped you catch the running criminal trying to run away from his job, this of course before the chase went on and you three ended up breaking the expensive rare chandelier and had to find the replacement stone. and the story goes.
that is the story of how you become a NRC student with your trusty companion or familiar, Grim and how you and grim, with your fellow 1st year whom you meet along the way have an epic adventure to deal with overblots.

Glinda mentions to Elphaba how Fiyero can't stop thinking about that moment in Dillamond's class, or that he's having thoughts in general and how it worries her because it's not something she's used to from him (which is him thinking about actual things), in contrast to Elphaba, who doesn't seem all that bothered and, even more so interested in the manner when Fiyero brings up how he can't stop thinking about when they rescued the lion cub. I don't know about everyone else but for me, even with this scene probably being added for lighthearted value, I also see it as another piece in the puzzle cementing how Fiyero's and Glinda's actions will, eventually, either pull them closer or further away from Elphaba. I lowkey don't like it when people act surprised or confused as to why Glinda was spelled or get annoyed that Fiyero is in her place but I, personally, don't think she would have helped in that moment, specifically in the movie.
Prior to the train scene, Glinda is shown to, not only, be completely rude and spoiled (as shown with her literally fainting over not getting her way), when in class, she publicly points out Dillamond's inability to pronounce her name correctly even though it's an obvious struggle, parading in front of the class how easier it was for her other teachers to do it, then being dismissive during the rest of the lesson when learning the importance of history and why to learn from it (correct me if I'm wrong, as it has been a minute since I've seen the movie). All that already tells me that she doesn't really care for the animals' cause, let alone enough to follow Elphaba and Fiyero into the woods after stealing the lion cub and I think, subconsciously, Elphaba knew that. In fact, I can only see Glinda trying to sway them to leave the cub and how what their new professor wanted to teach probably wasn't all that bad (not saying that she would want the cub to be harmed, just that she would try to rationalize what's going as we've seen her do before). This is the same woman who, after learning that the Wizard was a fraud and responsible for the missing and harmed animals, still tried to justify his actions and berated Elphaba for not "acting accordingly" to the news, but yet we still think she should have been there to save the lion cub? That she would have helped those animals alongside Fiyero and Elphaba? I think it could allude to how Glinda could/will be used to help further push propaganda for the Wizard, especially given how it benefits her socially, as figures of propaganda often don't think too hard, or enough to critique the system around them not because they aren't smart enough too (for the most part), but more so because they understand how their world works and understand the consequences that follow when stepping out of line.
You don't have to like Fiyeraba or even find Fiyero interesting, but to purposely ignore what the movie is presenting you is such a cop-out. Fiyero enters the film being a sort of anti-establishment-like character, caring little if he gets kicked out of Shiz for breaking the rules, or just hardly caring in general (something Elphaba calls him out for), and so on. Why wouldn't he be down to rescue the lion? Even if it was to just feed his rebellious streak, he still would have gone, but when he and Elphaba meet, he's on a talking horse and they are conversing like lifelong friends. That might add another layer to the pair saving the lion. Even if he wasn't on the same level as Elphaba at that moment, the train scene shows that it had a profound impact on him that he couldn't shake. I think, had he been presented with the choice of joining Elphaba or staying, he would have gone, not only for her but also because he now knows that the Wizard is a fraud and most definitely wouldn't stand for what he [Oz] is doing. This is what sets him apart from Glinda which, isn't necessarily me hating on her but just stating facts. Glinda isn't/won't be willing to sacrifice her position and what it brings her, until it's too late (which is the tragedy of her character and her relationship with Elphaba), while Fiyero risks everything, even to some extent his own body (Scarecrow) and, in the end, gets to stand with Elphaba.
#i don't want to ship tag this bc im sure if either would necessarily fit but also bc i don't want to attract a certain audience#but idk we'll see how it goes#this was just my perspective giving an analysis to both the train scene and the lion cub scene#it's not an attempt to paint one character as better than the other (in a way bc glinda was acting wild ngl)#i also notice some in this fandom get touchy when you say glinda didn't change until the last minute (which is true)#but lost everything by that point and how tragic that is it's okay to admit that#while i do think fiyero could of had more character development in the movie i don't think he's completely pointless like some try to paint#him as and i hope act ii gives us more of him#dni if can't have a calm conversation#glinda upland#glinda the good witch#elphaba thropp#fiyero tigelaar#wicked spoilers#wicked#wicked 2024#even my friend who just got into the wicked fandom was like âyeah glinda wouldn't do shit for them animalsâ#so i know im not tripping

I have a theory about Wicked Part 2 and what they are going to add to it, and why it's going to add so much to the movie.
I think they are going to add Dorothy's POV.
In the musical, she's mentioned, but Dorothy never appears on stage. We never know her POV or how much she knew about the witches, Fiyero, Boq, the lion, or what was actually going on in Wicked beyond the Wizard of Oz plot. But in the Wicked two trailers, we see scenes of Dorothy and those scenes are shot as if from the Wizard of Oz, not the traditional Wicked musical, in which Dorothy's character is only briefly mentioned or shown as a shadow. Which means we're going to get to see her story this time!
However, if I was going to include Dorothy's POV for Wicked, I don't think it would be anything like the Wizard of Oz, for a few clear reasons:
Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz is a perceptive and animated child and unless they plan on erasing that aspect of her character, she is not going to go home from Oz at the end of the Wicked movie with the same beliefs as the Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. She sees the Wizard is a fraud and calls him out just like Elphaba does. Besides this, there is no way she would just not pick up on the fact that Galinda, the dead witch, Boq, Fiyero, Elphaba, and the lion have a deeper history together than meets the eye for the entire trip.
This one might sound stupid, but trust me, it's important: Toto as a character. Here me out. In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy's distress in the real world is centered around a mean lady trying to drown her dog and the Witch of the West tries to do the same in Oz. However, in this version, Elphaba's whole thing is animal rights. She'd probably be horrified that Toto can't talk or Dorothy would be surprised and delighted to find that in this world, Toto can talk depending on what they decide to do with the dog. And if Dorothy comes to this world distressed about a lady trying to kill her poor dog, Elphaba would surely empathize. There might even be a misunderstanding between them if Elphaba believes Dorothy is working for the Wizard and Toto is a dog that needs rescuing.
So how does this change things?
There are a number of wonderful options.
The most obvious one is that we could see Dorothy put together and discover the story of Boq, Nessarose, Galinda, Elphaba, Fiyero, and the Wizard. She and the rest of the gang would formulate a plan to help Elphaba fake her death to save her from the people of Oz and the Wizard.
Within that narrative, we could see Elphaba enchanting the sleeping poppies to stop them from getting to the Wizard with the goal of protecting them from the Wizard (rather than to stop them from getting home). In Act 2 of Wicked, the Wizard again tries to form an alliance with Elphaba but Elphaba rejects his offer when she discovers what he's done to her Animal friends. It's possible that Elphaba believes the Wizard is trying to use Dorothy too and is trying to protect her from the same fate.
We could also see conversations between Dorothy and Fiyero about Elphaba (and there are many AO3 fics that have been going with that concept. I see y'all, thank you for doing the Lord's work đđť) and possibly some conversations between Dorothy and Boq since they'll be traveling together and we don't really get to hear about Boq's ending in the musical. I think the last we see of Boq is that he's angry at Elphaba for his condition and rallying crowds against her, but with all that traveling time and secrets coming out, I could see him getting, I don't know if I'd call it a "redemption arc" per say, but finding his heart again (a real one). Additionally, conversations between Dorothy and the lion about how Elphaba saved him would be nice too. Even if the lion had learned to blame Elphaba for what happened to him, I'm sure Dorothy would be quick to correct him once she discovered the full truth.
But my favorite, my absolute favorite and darkest possibility is the interactions that Dorothy can have with the Wizard. In the Wizard of Oz, she exposes him as a fraud, but in the Wicked movie, he's much worse than that, and I can totally see Dorothy being the one to point that out to him. Why?
First of all, Dorothy is not from Oz. Most people there would never question the Wizard, but if he's so powerful and generous, why is he sending an innocent little girl and three down-on-their-luck guys to go murder his dangerous enemy? That right there is a red flag, and again, if they don't change Dorothy's character, she's going to be a very honest child and comment on how strange this is.
Second of all, if anything I speculated above is true and Dorothy realizes this the Wizard is an animal abuser who vilified an innocent woman, she's going to be very angry at the Wizard, and rightfully so (I hope Toto bites him).
Third of all, and here's where it gets good: in the musical Wicked, the Wizard discovers he is Elphaba's father at the very end because of the bottle Galinda has. Dorothy is not on stage for that because she's not in the main cast of the musical, only mentioned by the other characters, but what if she was? What if she's the one that discovers the connection? What if she calls him out the exact same way Elphaba did after the Wizard gave his little "I always wanted to be a father" speech?
What if the Wizard had a little animal-loving girl who reminds him so much of the daughter he just sent to her to kill standing in front of him with a horrified expression while he puts the pieces together?
What if Dorothy's POV in Wicked isn't about her exposing the Wizard as a nervous fraud, but as a heartless monster?
What if Dorothy's POV is about her exploring this new world and discovering for herself who is truly wicked or good?
#Lowkey tempted to write a fic on this later. Y'all I am so ready for her perspective#The conversations between her and Fiyero are gonna be good but the Lion? Boq? Them too.#If they don't let Toto speak I still hope he bites the Wizard#Wicked#wicked witch of the west#wicked witch#galinda upland#wicked the musical#wicked 2024#wicked musical#wicked movie#The wizard of oz#wizard of oz#the wicked witch of the west#dorothy gale#boq woodsman#the tin man#fiyero tigelaar#wicked elphaba#Wicked spoilers#Wicked part 1#wicked part one#Wicked part 2#Elphaba thropp#wicked glinda#glinda the good witch#tin man#cowardly lion#emerald city

Hi! I've seen some fans, in my opinion, completely misunderstand Elphaba telling Glinda in the deleted scene that choosing Fiyero was a "mistake." They are taking that to mean she would've preferred bringing Glinda and hates that she chose Fiyero?
I saw her calling it a "mistake" as her 1, sparing Glinda's feelings, and 2, she called it that because it was the event that made her feelings for her BEST FRIENDS BOYFRIEND grow, so of course she has some regrets. đ
She loves Glinda, her not choosing Glinda doesn't devalue how she views their friendship, she just subconsciously knew Fiyero genuinely cared for the same cause.
I love your takes, so I was just wondering as to what your thoughts exactly were in that scene?
^ Video for context
(Firstly, apologies if I repeat some of the same things youâve already said, I had a lot of thoughts about this scene and I just wanted to get them down and it was easier writing this as a bit of a scene analysis rather than just a direct response)
*Checks thereâs no Gelphie fans holding sharp objects in hearing range*
Ok let me begin.
Iâm glad it was cut.
I donât think it was a very good scene. I think it doesnât really make sense with the train station scene (thereâs no way Glinda would still think Fiyero was distant and moodified about Dillamond if she knew this) and it introduces Galindaâs suspicions about Elphaba and Fiyero too early (I like the scene with her waking up and noticing they were both gone, I like the scene where she notices the moment between them at the train station, I want the niggling doubts in her mind, but something big like this doesnât feel right pre-interval).
Saying that, I donât think itâs saying what the Gelphie fans think it was saying.
I actually think itâs a fairly selfish scene from Galindaâs perspective. Sheâs upset because she was left out â which I do understand, but sheâs failing to see the bigger picture. There was a sentient, intelligent, being in danger and it got saved and, instead of being happy about that or even asking if the Cub was ok, her first reaction is âbut what about me?â Contrast this to Fiyero not even listening to Elphabaâs panic in the Lion Cub scene, because heâs seen an opportunity to get it to safety, or Elphaba who immediately joins him. Their first priority is about the Animal â any focus on feelings or why this happened doesnât come until the Lion Cub appears to be safe.
And letâs imagine, for a second, the scene of Galinda in the Lion Cub scene. She would go with Elphaba, I believe that much, though it would not be Galinda who made the first move the way it was for Fiyero. Sheâd be discouraging Elphaba from doing it at least at first âElphie, weâre going to get in so much trouble!â and sheâd be busy complaining about going through the forest in heels. There probably would be some concern for the Lion Cub, in so much that itâs cute and small and vulnerable, but I wouldnât be surprised if she didnât end up asking âare we sure that the teacher isnât right that the cage is for his own good?â Galinda doesnât like challenging the status quo and is known to downplay atrocities (hell, we see in the train station scene that she refers to Doctor Dillamond being literally dragged away by guards as an âold Goatâ that she was surprised Fiyero cared so much about who was âfiredâ).
Her insistence that âyou could have picked meâ isnât one of her genuinely thinking she had the ability to help in that situation. Itâs that sheâs uncomfortable that her best friend and her boyfriend shared something she didnât, that Elphaba (quite rightly given the circumstance) didnât immediately turn to her for help. There also possibly is a hint of her realising here (if, I think, subconsciously) that Elphaba and Fiyero might have feelings for each other, and reacting to try and prevent it.
From Elphabaâs side, she is feeling guilty for having feelings for her best friendâs boyfriend. She first tries to downplay it âhe just helped me rescue the Cub,â and then, on further pushing, apologises, says it was a mistake and promises to âpickâ Galinda next time.
How do we know that it was a matter of her feeling guilty over feelings for Fiyero rather than thinking it was a âmistakeâ that she âpickedâ Fiyero? BECAUSE SHE DIDNâT PICK HIM! We know that she didnât have any control over the spell, we know she was just as surprised as Fiyero when he didnât fall asleep with the others. The only reason she wouldnât have said âI didnât pick him, he must have been immune to my spell for some reason, maybe he took a lot of hay fever tablets that day,â is because the mistake is not about that. The mistake was letting Fiyero get close enough at all that she caught feelings for him (perhaps even ones she sort of knew she was brewing â given the cut Boq train station scene implies that heâs noticed too and theyâve all be hanging together for a while before this point).
Therefore, her promise to Galinda is not about trusting her, or thinking sheâd have been a better person to save the Lion Cub with, itâs about making it up to Galinda, and proving to herself that she will never do something that might hurt Galinda again.
And Defying Gravity proves that Galinda was indeed the wrong person to be âpickedâ. We see Elphaba and Glinda in a very similar situation to the Lion Cub scene, theyâre breaking the law for the good of the Animals. Firstly, Glinda doesnât even follow Elphaba until Morrible tells her to âget her backâ(again, Fiyero takes the lead in the Lion Cub scene, heâd have saved the Cub without her), then she tells Elphaba to come back, that sheâs out of her mind and, while she does clearly flirt with the idea of joining Elphaba, not only does she quickly back down, itâs never, never about truly believing, or even fully understanding, why Elphaba wants to go.
Ultimately, the promise scene is a tragic one, itâs the first scene where we see how different both girlsâ morals really are. Theyâre making the promise for two different, selfish reasons, that have more to do with their own insecurities than actual belief in each other, and itâs a promise that gets broken before the end of the movie.
Itâs also worth noting that Glinda even has another chance to keep this promise in Act 2. In the throne room scene, she could have gone with Elphaba and Fiyero â it would have been easy to say âme tooâ when Fiyero says heâs going with her, but it doesnât even occur to her. Meanwhile Fiyero, again, has already stepped up, willingly giving away his palace life, reputation and become a traitor to Oz to ensure Elphaba gets away safely.
Fiyero was always the right person to pick in the Lion Cub scene.

I've been thinking a bit about how Galinda and Fiyero work as foils(?), and the contrast between their goals, personality, and their relationship to social influence individually change how they navigate their specific social situations.
And why it puzzles me when people judgmentally compare them and what they'd do in "What-If" scenarios as a gotcha to make one seem better/worst. Because in my mind they are similar but not comparable, because they fundamentally have very different personal stakes.
Primarily because of the difference in how they act in an Active (Galinda) vs Passive (Fiyero) approach to social engineering. And also, because one of them in writing is more developed as an individual than the other.
I'LL MOSTLY BE TALKING ABOUT: WICKED MOVIE - PART 1
Galinda is inherently Active. She has wants and desires that she's driven to achieve, and so actively plays the part of the good socialite because it will help her become more popular and to eventually become "Galinda the GoodSorceress". "It's not about aptitude, it's about the way you're viewed", and so on. Itâs the one thing she knows sheâs good at.
Of course, she also likes the attention and validation, but her charms doesn't come as naturally as she wants others, and probably herself, to believe. (I love that quote Ariana said somewhere about how "Galinda sees herself as a graceful swan, when she's actually a very stiff, but still beautiful swan", or something of that sort). She's insecure that sheâll lose people's favour and thus her most important asset, so she continually appeals to them. It's an act that she simultaneously enjoys doing for the most part, but also traps her from ever being truly close to anybody for fear of being known and not meeting expectations and losing that adoration. Until Elphaba that is.
Because of her drive to fulfill her dreams and to keep her best asset, and personal desperate need for validation, she has a much more obvious internal conflicts when she has to choose between Elphaba/the moral good vs keeping with the good graces of authority and/or the public. She's more prone to being influenced by others, and many of her choices become a calculated risk. Sheâs often times selfish and chooses her own desires, but itâs what makes her such an interesting and very human character. The struggle she balances when sheâs forced to choose for better or worse.
In contrast
Fiyero is Passive. Dancing Through Life is literally him telling others that being lazy and not thinking is the best way to cope and enjoy life by ignoring problems. He is discontent with his life, but doesn't really acknowledge it until Elphaba reads him. Much like Galinda he is also playing a part, but it's not as tightly controlled as Galinda because he doesn't have an end goal for it.
Of course, while he probably doesn't want to lose his princely privileges. His passive "brainless" approach doesn't really put him in risky situations that would put him in conflict leading to losing things he cares about, because he really doesn't have a lot to lose. (Which is a byproduct of the fact he is primarily written as a love interest side character without much of an arc or motives outside his love triangle relationship to Elphaba and Galinda).
What confounds me is when people compare them and judge what their choices would be in if they were placed in pivotal moments, because we never really see them in situations with similar stakes.
For example, the Lion Cub scene. Most people interpret this scene as an act of braverism and heroics by Fiyero. And in some part it is, he's spurred on to save the cub, and he and Elphaba do. But it's telling that he only does this after everyone is asleep and there are virtually no risks. Any present social or physical conflicts that could arise? POOF! Gone. The worst that could probably be done to them is being punished, or even kicked out, if theyâre discovered afterwards. Which Fiyero is not new to and doesn't really care about, and while maybe uncertain for Elphaba, is also unlikely because she's Morrible's irreplaceable pupil.
Some people use this scene as evidence that under his facade, Fiyero is secretly valiant like Elphaba thinks so. But I think in actuality tells the opposite. It reveals that Fiyero does care about the Animals, yes. But, the fact he only acts when prompted and there are no longer any present risks initially makes him seem less brave than Elphaba, and even Galinda. Because it contrasts with the Ozdust dance scene between the girls. Where Galinda had to make an active choice to do the risky and brave thing as an apology for hurting Elphaba, and offer to truly connect with her in front of everyone with the possibility of social out casting. She has an obvious internal conflict and risk assessment where she ends up picking the moral good over her personal comfort and social appeal. I'm genuinely curious on what kind of choices Elphaba, Galinda, and Fiyero might have done in that situation if they weren't given the perfect out by the magic poppies.
Would Galinda have helped in with the lion cub if she were awake? Probably, but who knows? Because in the narrative, Galinda isn't really put in a situation where she could choose good without being watched or without someone breathing down her neck. The prospect of being punished and kicked out from Shiz would also be most plausible and ruinous for Galinda. Morrible would definitely use it as an excuse to kick her out, or at the very least punish her, if she could, and it could throw away her only chance of achieving her dream of becoming a sorceress. She would have probably joined them in the end, though. If only to make sure they were safe. Compared to Fiyero, she has more conflicts of interests because she has personal aspirations and influence based on her reputation, and thus have more fears and consequences to consider in losing it.
Would Fiyero have joined Elphaba on the broom? Maybe, mostly likely. Because narratively, heâs never given a reason why he shouldnât. He doesnât see his worth and his skills intrinsically tied to public influence and opinion. He doesnât have any wants or wishes he would have to abandon. Heâll have to leave his friends and family, but itâs not shown how close they really are to him outside Feldspar, his Horse friend, and heâs probably joining them anyway. Heâs definitely more equipped to survive on the run compared to Glinda. Unlike Glinda, who is proven right in the end to being most useful when she can wield her powerful social influence For Good, Fiyero would probably be most useful as a sidekick to Elphaba. He was always written to be Elphabaâs follower, itâs no surprise. Itâs also easier to take risks when you donât have much to lose. But I think most people would agree that would make a less interesting story.

â¤ď¸ and Gliyeraba?
(in which Fiyero tags along to the Emerald City)
(this is SO dialogue heavy, I'm sorry)
--
Elphaba made herself at home on the train, setting down the boquet of poppies Fiyero had given her. She almost wanted to invite him along, but she knew better than to steal him from Glinda like that.
Glinda... now what if she invited her?
No, that wouldn't be right either. Elphaba knew that if she spent any more time in close proximity with either of her friends, she'd fall completely and devastatingly in love. She wasn't meant for such affections, and she knew it.
Still, her heart felt full to bursting as the train clattered to life, and she saw Fiyero and Glinda waving to her from the platform.
Fiyero leaned and whispered something to Glinda, who reached into her breast pocket with a start, pulling a pamphlet out and running towards the train with Fiyero in tow.
"Elphie! We almost forgot, this is for you!"
Elphaba opened the booklet.
I hope you find what your heart desires <3 -- Galinda
Good luck, Elphaba. I wish you all the best. -- Fiyero
There was no use fighting it, Elphaba realized. In a world that had proven itself time and again to be cruel and cold, she'd found not one, but two people that genuinely cared for her.
"Come with me!" She called as the train sped up. "Both of you!"
"What?" Fiyero asked in disbelief, running to keep pace, "But it's your destiny to meet the Wizard, not ours!"
"Elphie, are you sure? We wouldn't want to impose!"
"There's no time to think about your decision! Come on!" Elphaba pulled both of them onto the train and they collapsed together in a heap of bodies.
"Emerald City, here we come!" Fiyero laughed breathlessly.
"First, we have a lot to discuss." Elphaba moved to the couch, where Glinda and Fiyero sat on either side of her.
--
"So that's where you went off to when Elphie cast her spell..." Glinda nodded, "You two went off together to save that Lion cub."
"It was Fiyero's idea, actually." Elphaba said. "He's got a lot of guts, doing something so risky."
"Hardly any brains though!" Glinda laughed, "Dearest, how could you do something so dangerous!"
"I knew Elphaba would protect us. But enough about me-- where did you two head off to after you left the Ozdust?"
"Back to our dorm room," Elphaba said, "We'd had enough of the party."
"And what did you do there?" Fiyero asked, leaning in towards Elphaba.
Elphaba looked over to Glinda, whose gaze shot daggers at her.
"I'll leave that to your imagination, thank you very much."
"Oh, I'll imagine away..." Fiyero gave a devilish smirk.
"Don't think you can get away with spending the whole train ride fantasizing about us!" Elphaba stood up from the couch and urged Glinda and Fiyero closer to each other, "You two clearly have stuff to work out."
"What stuff?" Fiyero said, "Glinda, our relationship is perfectly--"
"It's not. Listen, Fiyero, I care about you a lot, and you're as charming as ever, and I really do like you..." Glinda turned to Elphaba, "But I fear I've fallen in love with Miss Elphie..."
"Really?" Fiyero asked. "I... Does it make it weird if I say I've fallen in love with her too?"
"I'm sorry..." Elphaba looked at the two of them in shock. For months, she'd held two ideas in her head, two daydreams, two wild fantasies beyond her mind's comprehension. And now, they were both coming true at once. "What?!"
"Elphaba, dear..." Fiyero scooted away from Glinda, leaving space for her between them.
"Come sit with us, Elphie." Glinda said. "We can work this out."
--
"So let me get this straight..." Elphaba adjusted her glasses as Glinda and Fiyero leaned against each of her shoulders. She felt as if she were the fillings in an incomprehensibly squishy sandwich of affection. It was strange. "You two are attracted to each other. It's not quite love, but it could be."
"Mhm." Glinda sighed into her shoulder.
"And both of you, individually and completely of your own accord, have fallen in love with me?"
"Correct." Fiyero whispered against her neck.
"And you aren't mad at each other for it?"
"Nope." Glinda hummed.
"We can share." Fiyero agreed. "If you're okay with it, that is."
Elphaba had never been this overwhelmed in her life, but she had also never felt this loved in her life.
"I think we'll make it work." She pressed a kiss to Fiyero's lips, then turned and kissed Glinda, "I love you both... I can't wait to see the Emerald City with you two."
