Something I'm happy seeing from some of the pictures released from Wicked Part 1 and 2 is that Dorothy has the original silver colored shoes that were in the book.

I did not realize prior to looking up evolution of the slippers that they were silver. Slippers look fancy by the way.

Since I recently answered some asks from @paexgo-rosa about Elphaba and Glinda's costumes in Wicked, one aspect of the Wicked movie trailer stands out to me. It's that apparently, the movie is using pink as Glinda's signature color, as it was in The Wizard of Oz, while in the stage version she only briefly wears pink in Act I and more often wears pale blues and whites. In fact I've learned that originally, Wicked-Glinda was never meant to wear pink at all: in the show's original San Francisco tryouts, her "Popular" dress was blue, and it was only later changed to pink. Yet the movie seems to have Ariana Grande wearing pink constantly.
I'm not into the Wicked fandom, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's backlash already. I'll bet they're saying that a mostly pink wardrobe is too cliché for Glinda, and that her predominant pale blues and whites in the stage version are a much better, more creative choice. I wouldn't be surprised if among some parts of the fandom, it's "Hermione wearing pink to the Yule Ball instead of periwinkle blue" all over again.
I understand feeling that way. I do slightly admire the fact that the stage version of Wicked avoids the obvious choice of dressing Glinda in an onslaught of pink. Especially because she wears white in the original Oz books; it was only the classic 1939 movie that dressed her in pink instead.
But personally? I don't mind the change that much. We all associate Glinda with the color pink. Everyone who grew up watching The Wizard of Oz associates her with pink. And if Wicked-Glinda wears pink all the time, then her iconic line to Elphaba in the "Popular" scene, "Pink goes good with green!" will all the more clearly mean "You and I go well together."
That said, I can't help but agree with the comments that the layered skirt on the new movie's "bubble dress" looks like sliced ham. Recent fantasy movies seem to have a problem with making fabric layers on lavish skirts look like food: first there were the "cheese slices" on Emma Watson's Belle gown, and now this.

That pink dress is actually gorgeous, but the stupid poster took out so much of the detail, and now we have people joking about a ham dress.

I will admit this looks stunning.
That said, as a huge fan of the books and the musical…I am…cautious.
The casting looks pretty good, though I'm still not 100% on board with Grandes inclusion as Glinda, and I'm less than pleased they thought we needed a genderbent Pfanee since they weren't that big a character at all, so why bother? Erivo as Elphaba seems alright. Goldblum as the Wizard is awesome though, love that. And Dorothy having silver slippers as she had in the original books and Maguires retelling rocks.
I worry about the 2nd movie though, they seem to be throwing a LOT into this one. I know they're putting in things from the book to flesh it out, but this was busy lol.
As long as they don't stray too far from the story, like don't go into fanfiction territory, I think it'll be alright.

I really want to participate in Barbenheimer 2.0: Moana/Wicked Edition (I'M NOT CALLING IT THE OTHER THING YA NASTIES) but I know damn well my parents are gonna go "No, Peggy. You're not watching both films in theaters on the same day. You pick one movie to watch and that's it." 😑
Not that I’m encouraging you to disobey your parents, but you do you Peggy. You want to see both on the same day? You see both in the same day - but tbf even if you see them a week apart it’ll make for two fun cinema trips!

i really hope the cgi for the lion is A+. Something that can pass as easily as Aslan has. Something that can emote, that I can admit, the cowardly lion needs emoting.
I'm all in for freaky tin man. I'm in for Scarecrow looking a scarecrow with a human face and being uncanny valley, i'm in for it affectionately looking weird, a throw back to the og scarecrow and I hope the love and hours and passion either disgust me and make me love their take all the same.

Listen, to each their own, however, I just wanted to talk about one of the few things I enjoyed (while it lasted) in season 3 of Bridgerton.
I absolutely adored Francesca’s character in Season 3 part 1. The level of introverted-ness and anxiety relating towards meeting new people and just interacting with others in general is the most relatable thing I’ve seen on Bridgerton and on screen. Her sole interest in piano forte and that being the only answer she had to most questions she was asked…again RELATABLE.
Then they added her quiet romance with John and I just ADORED her and them even more. I absolutely loved that the point they were trying to make with that was how not every love has to be loud and boisterous. Just because someone isn’t being Bold and declarative with their feelings, it doesn’t negate what they feel and it doesn’t mean their love isn’t as strong. It can be expressed differently and still be something so worth while. I felt like this was such a beautiful point to make and wish they allowed that to sit with the audience a little longer. I haven’t read the books so personally I don’t have much to add in the Michael vs Michaela debate going on, however, what was the point in them going out of their way to state how not all love has to be instant and all consuming to be considered real love and then they just kind of negate that by having Fran have love at first sight and fall for someone else in the same season?
To each their own I guess.
