I love Michael Afton's story in FNAF..

the fact that the vi vs jinx fight was foretold from the beginning. the fact that the opening credits ends with their fight immortalized in stone, so that every episode you watch is a reminder of the immutable truth of it. the fact that every moment is building to this, that the show will culminate in this. this was always going to happen, they told us this from the beginning, and nothing anyone could do will ever change that.

I'm a little reluctant to say that I'm expecting another show to tie up the loose ends left from the bad batch mostly because, to me, it feels like an excuse for haphazard handling of the story. Sure, maybe a show someday will tie up all of those threads and tell the rest of the story that we are missing. Maybe some day they'll bring back Tech (as they should). Maybe they'll actually tie up story threads with Echo, Wrecker, and Crosshair without just cutting it all off (literally, in Crosshair's case, yes I'm still very upset about it). Maybe one day they will tell a satisfying ending to this story in another show.

But this show was not marketed as a Part 1 to a larger story and still isn't being sold as that either. Truthfully, we have no way of really knowing what the future holds so this limbo where everything feels unfinished is just painful for me to think about. Hell, I don't think I will ever watch this show again because I think of S3 and I go 'what's the point?'

I completely understand the hope that there will be another show that will fix all of the glaring issues. I respect wanting there to be a reason things got so damn weird with S3 and speculating about it and talking about possibilities. And there very well may be one!People should continue hoping that will happen because all of the theories and speculation have been great to read and talk about. This fandom's ideas have been incredible, insightful, and would make for some actual great storytelling. I've loved reading all of them. But I don't want to excuse all of these weird and shitty writing decisions because the longer we go with no other answers the less I want to hand those excuses out.

I fell in love with these characters. And I don't like seeing any of them tossed to the side, unfinished, or forgotten. At this point Tech, Echo, Wrecker, and Crosshair were. I'm still having a hard time coming to terms with that.

weekes saying all that mythal shit is up to interpretation is so weird to me because instead of worrying about leaving all of solas' past up to vague interpretation to (new) players because you're too chickenshit to stand by your established lore you could've focused on ghilan'nain and elgar'nan and who they were and what they became. elgar'nan literally let the other evanuris slay his wife and he watched on, and then he rotted in a prison made by what he referred to as his wife's "lapdog" and second in command general. and what of ghilan'nain? what is their relationship? why is it just the two of them in that prison when there were more evanuris trapped in there? why are they simultaneously this omnipotent threat capable of spawning blight at will but also two dimensional villains chasing their own tails half the game while solas just poses and speaks in his riddles in the fade. also a fragment of mythal is inside of morrigan, does no part of her gaf that her husband is literally terrorizing the world she loves? hello??

“How about this one?” Fives turns the data pad to Echo.

“Ew. What is that?” 

“A rancor,” Fives says, pulling the data pad back. 

“It’s heinous,” Echo tells him. 

Fives grins. “Well, I like it.” 

Echo rolls his eyes. “If you get that tattooed on your face, I will never look at you again.” 

“Aw, c’mon, Echo. Don’t be like that.” 

“I like to be able to sleep at night, thanks.” 

Fives turns the data pad again. “What about this one?” 

“Somehow worse.”

Fives types something then gasps. “What about a skull over half of my face?”

“What about no?”

Fives groans loudly. “What about you being supportive of my impulsive decisions?” Checking his chrono, Fives leaps up. “Gotta go. My appointment is in a few minutes. Don’t wanna be late.” 

Echo rolls his eyes. “Yeah, because not getting a face tattoo would be a travesty.” 

Fives snatches the pillow out from under Echo and pelts it at him. By the time Echo sits up to retaliate, his brother is gone. Sighing, Echo puts the pillow back under his head and returns to his manuals.

“I’m back!”

Echo wakes with a start and nearly throws his data pad across the room. “Maker, Fives! Do you have to yell like that?” 

“Always,” Fives says, perching on the edge of Echo’s mattress. 

It takes Echo several seconds to process that Fives is back from getting his tattoo. Fives’ face is shockingly empty for a man who’d been hounding Echo for the past week with examples of obscene, and very permanent, facial markings. 

“I thought you were getting a tattoo on your face,” Echo says, pushing himself into a sitting position. 

Fives huffs. “Wow. You didn’t even notice. Right here, di’kut!” Turning his head, Fives points to the crisp lines of the number five on his temple. 

“That actually looks good,” Echo says incredulously. 

“Of course it looks good,” Fives preens. “It’s tasteful.” 

Echo grins, relieved Fives did not get the rancor…or the half skull.
