maybe my favourite part of having cracked open the pandora's box of juggling multiple wips is the way the stories bleed into & inspire one another. the way scenes and dialogue form nodes as on a growing branch, and these whole new leaves of stories unfurl, miraculous. the same way you pick up friends' accents and mannerisms that the language of one setting starts to haunt another. how you sometimes think, reflexive & reductive, i've already covered this, like every bit of creative output is some contiguous graded thesis, before remembering you're in a garden, cultivating what you find compelling and beautiful and important, and nobody has ever looked at two flowers side by side and accused them of looking too similar. all stories being all a part of each other. visiting themes not like a whistlestop tour but old and familiar friends whose homes you know and love as well as your own. stories with lineage. stories as loving something so much you need to talk about it six different times. stories that know each other and hold hands

Hephaestus: I love his voice, his syllables are harder, gruff in a way that captures that "god of the forge" vibe really well (hello Jorge's dad!!”) Aphrodite: I love her tune, soft and high, also I love how Athena modulates her tune for everyone, matching whoever she's against at the time the way she says "Ares", frustrated and through gritted teeth really feels inline with how sibling dynamics go

Ares: FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT, hype that man upppppp (ignore him ripping into Odysseus) "pathetic and weak like his son" Athena: and I took that personally The fucking instrumental for warrior of the mind in parts of this, gotta dig my teeth into something

imagine eddie’s out of work because reefer rick got put away for good, and rick kept such a tight lid on his own supplier that eddie has no clue where to buy from now. he’s applied to a couple of jobs, but nobody’s gotten back to him yet. thankfully, his saving grace comes in the form of a flyer for someone seeking a babysitter.

enter single dad steve, who just needs someone to watch his five kids (and occasionally the miracle baby hopper-byers twins from nextdoor, because they’re best friends with his kids and refuse to be separated from them for longer than twelve hours) for a couple hours while he takes a much-needed nap every few days. he can’t keep asking their auntie robin and auntie vickie, after all. even if they’re more than willing to watch them, steve feels like it’s too big of an ask without payment, which they refuse to accept. and if the babysitter that responds to his flyer just so happens to be a very attractive guy whose guitar-playing and d&d skills are enough to captivate said children’s collective attention for those hours, well…that’s just an added bonus.
