What is a Fish Meal Dryer?
Tumblr media
A fish meal dryer is a machine specifically designed to dry fish meal to the desired moisture level, typically around 10%. The drying process is crucial as it prevents microbial growth and spoilage, thereby extending the shelf life of the fish meal. Fish meal dryers come in various types, including rotary drum dryers, disc dryers, and fluidized bed dryers, each with unique characteristics and advantages.
Features of a Fish Meal Dryer
1. Efficient Drying Capability: Fish meal dryers are built to handle large volumes of wet fish meal efficiently. They utilize advanced drying technologies to ensure uniform and consistent drying, which is essential for maintaining product quality.
2. Energy Efficiency: Modern fish meal dryers are designed to be energy-efficient. They use heat recovery systems and other technologies to minimize energy consumption, making the drying process more cost-effective.
3. Durability and Robustness: Given the demanding nature of fish meal production, fish meal dryers are constructed from durable materials that can withstand high temperatures and corrosive environments. This ensures long-term reliability and minimal downtime.
4. Environmental Considerations: Many fish meal dryers are equipped with pollution control systems to reduce emissions and comply with environmental regulations. This makes them a more sustainable choice for fish meal producers.
How Does a Fish Meal Dryer Work?
1. Feeding: The wet fish meal is fed into the dryer through a conveyor or feeder system. This ensures a steady and controlled flow of material into the dryer.
2. Drying Process: Inside the dryer, the fish meal is exposed to hot air or other drying agents. The specific mechanism depends on the type of dryer used:
Rotary Drum Dryers: The fish meal is tumbled in a rotating drum where it is heated and dried by hot air.
Disc Dryers: The fish meal is spread across heated discs that rotate, facilitating even drying.
Fluidized Bed Dryers: The fish meal is suspended in a stream of hot air, which dries it quickly and uniformly.
3. Moisture Reduction: As the fish meal passes through the dryer, the moisture content is gradually reduced to the desired level. This step is critical for preventing spoilage and ensuring the fish meal's stability.
4. Discharge: The dried fish meal is then discharged from the dryer and moved to the next stage of production, which may include milling, packaging, or storage.
Applications of Fish Meal Dryers
Fish meal dryers are primarily used in fish meal plants, where they are an integral part of the fish meal production process. However, their applications extend to other industries as well:
Animal Feed Production: Dried fish meal is a key ingredient in animal feeds, providing a rich source of protein for livestock, poultry, and aquaculture.
Fertilizer Manufacturing: Fish meal is also used in organic fertilizers, where its nutrient content benefits plant growth.
Industrial Uses: Fish meal is employed in various industrial applications, including pet food production and dietary supplements.
Benefits of Using a Fish Meal Dryer
1. Improved Product Quality: By effectively reducing the moisture content, fish meal dryers help produce high-quality fish meal that is free from spoilage and microbial contamination.
2. Increased Shelf Life: Proper drying extends the shelf life of fish meal, making it more suitable for storage and transportation.
3. Enhanced Economic Value: High-quality, dried fish meal commands a better market price, enhancing the economic value of the product.
A fish meal dryer is an indispensable component in the fish meal production process. It ensures the fish meal is dried to the appropriate moisture content, thereby enhancing its quality, shelf life, and market value. By understanding the features, working principles, and applications of a fish meal dryer, producers can optimize their operations and achieve better results.

it actually sucks how vegan spaces are so often culty because i love plant based recipes but it’s hard to find spaces that share those recipes that don’t resent me and others for no longer being vegan, it makes it harder to incorporate plant based meals back into my diet 🙃

@kujoutengu said: 17! | meme ∗ 17﹕ sender  and  receiver  cook  together .

albedo finds it easy to focus on the task of cooking, something he enjoys on occasion even despite not needing such sustenance. this is perhaps why he prefers smaller portions to larger ones and thus rarely visits restaurants vastly preferring to cook his own meals. but besides that, it helped him maintain the skills required in taking care of klee, habits he held onto even despite that he had yet to find her within the city.
another thing albedo has found is that he enjoys having others to share food with. preparing and serving a group of friends at his campsite had enlightened him to this fact, to the point that as food is laid out on plates he finds himself smiling faintly. his companion thus far has been fairly quiet, but he can’t say it bothers him. if sara wishes to cook in peace over making small talk, that’s fine by albedo. he’s not one much for small talk either, and they haven’t particularly gotten to know each other either.
but he still has no problem with simply guiding her through the steps of one of his favorite meals. visual learning could be easier then verbal learning after all - granted if she had questions, he would still willingly answer. a good teacher has to be prepared for anything.
nonetheless, he offers her a plate of food with light smile still in place; their hard work shouldn’t go to waste, right? and it is important to keep one's energy up too, so one way or another he'll make sure she has her share as well.

Trick or treat!
trick or treat!! this is not so much a precise recipe as it is the final destiny of all my basil plants in the fall:
(basil) pesto, in the most freeform way
fresh basil (however much you've got. you need kind of a lot to actually get a substantial amount of pesto- my estimate is three or four cups of leaves, not packed particularly tightly)
garlic (fresh chopped garlic is nice, but if you're make any big amount of this jar garlic (jarlic, if you will) is the way to go)
parmesan cheese (i just use the powdery kraft stuff)
olive oil
toasted pine nuts (i think they're pretty important to the overall flavor. i'm also constantly fighting everyone who's home to not eat them all before i get to put them in the pesto)
put everything in a big bowl and apply stick blender
food processors, blenders, anything of that sort works, really- i just use stick blender + big bowl because it's easy. if you're doing smaller amounts, i've also had luck with stick blender + wide-mouth mason jar. if you're working on enough of it at once you'll probably have to work in batches and add additional basil gradually- and constantly be scraping half-shredded leaves out of your blender of choice
you may decide it needs some salt, especially if you go lighter on the parmesan. other than that, it's a lot of mixing everything together and adding a bit more olive oil or cheese or pine nuts til you get the consistency you want. it's pretty forgiving that way; plenty of room for trial and error

Homemaking, gardening, and self-sufficiency resources that won't radicalize you into a hate group
Tumblr media
It seems like self-sufficiency and homemaking skills are blowing up right now. With the COVID-19 pandemic and the current economic crisis, a lot of folks, especially young people, are looking to develop skills that will help them be a little bit less dependent on our consumerist economy. And I think that's generally a good thing. I think more of us should know how to cook a meal from scratch, grow our own vegetables, and mend our own clothes. Those are good skills to have.
Unfortunately, these "self-sufficiency" skills are often used as a recruiting tactic by white supremacists, TERFs, and other hate groups. They become a way to reconnect to or relive the "good old days," a romanticized (false) past before modern society and civil rights. And for a lot of people, these skills are inseparably connected to their politics and may even be used as a tool to indoctrinate new people.
In the spirit of building safe communities, here's a complete list of the safe resources I've found for learning homemaking, gardening, and related skills. Safe for me means queer- and trans-friendly, inclusive of different races and cultures, does not contain Christian preaching, and does not contain white supremacist or TERF dog whistles.
Homemaking/Housekeeping/Caring for your home:
Making It by Kelly Coyne and Erik Knutzen [book] (The big crunchy household DIY book; includes every level of self-sufficiency from making your own toothpaste and laundry soap to setting up raised beds to butchering a chicken. Authors are explicitly left-leaning.)
Safe and Sound: A Renter-Friendly Guide to Home Repair by Mercury Stardust [book] (A guide to simple home repair tasks, written with rentals in mind; very compassionate and accessible language.)
How To Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis [book] (The book about cleaning and housework for people who get overwhelmed by cleaning and housework, based on the premise that messiness is not a moral failing; disability and neurodivergence friendly; genuinely changed how I approach cleaning tasks.)
Gardening
Rebel Gardening by Alessandro Vitale [book] (Really great introduction to urban gardening; explicitly discusses renter-friendly garden designs in small spaces; lots of DIY solutions using recycled materials; note that the author lives in England, so check if plants are invasive in your area before putting them in the ground.)
Country/Rural Living:
Woodsqueer by Gretchen Legler [book] (Memoir of a lesbian who lives and works on a rural farm in Maine with her wife; does a good job of showing what it's like to be queer in a rural space; CW for mentions of domestic violence, infidelity/cheating, and internalized homophobia)
"Debunking the Off-Grid Fantasy" by Maggie Mae Fish [video essay] (Deconstructs the off-grid lifestyle and the myth of self-reliance)
Sewing/Mending:
Annika Victoria [YouTube channel] (No longer active, but their videos are still a great resource for anyone learning to sew; check out the beginner project playlist to start. This is where I learned a lot of what I know about sewing.)
Make, Sew, and Mend by Bernadette Banner [book] (A very thorough written introduction to hand-sewing, written by a clothing historian; lots of fun garment history facts; explicitly inclusive of BIPOC, queer, and trans sewists.)
Sustainability/Land Stewardship
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer [book] (Most of you have probably already read this one or had it recommended to you, but it really is that good; excellent example of how traditional animist beliefs -- in this case, indigenous American beliefs -- can exist in healthy symbiosis with science; more philosophy than how-to, but a great foundational resource.)
Wild Witchcraft by Rebecca Beyer [book] (This one is for my fellow witches; one of my favorite witchcraft books, and an excellent example of a place-based practice deeply rooted in the land.)
Avoiding the "Crunchy to Alt Right Pipeline"
Note: the "crunchy to alt-right pipeline" is a term used to describe how white supremacists and other far right groups use "crunchy" spaces (i.e., spaces dedicated to farming, homemaking, alternative medicine, simple living/slow living, etc.) to recruit and indoctrinate people into their movements. Knowing how this recruitment works can help you recognize it when you do encounter it and avoid being influenced by it.
"The Crunchy-to-Alt-Right Pipeline" by Kathleen Belew [magazine article] (Good, short introduction to this issue and its history.)
Sisters in Hate by Seyward Darby (I feel like I need to give a content warning: this book contains explicit descriptions of racism, white supremacy, and Neo Nazis, and it's a very difficult read, but it really is a great, in-depth breakdown of the role women play in the alt-right; also explicitly addresses the crunchy to alt-right pipeline.)
These are just the resources I've personally found helpful, so if anyone else has any they want to add, please, please do!

What is a Fish Meal Plant?
A fish meal plant is a specialized facility where fish by-products and whole fish are processed into fish meal and fish oil. This process transforms raw fish materials into a high-protein, nutrient-dense product widely used in animal feeds, aquaculture, and fertilizers. Understanding what a fish meal plant entails can help industry professionals and interested parties appreciate the intricacies and importance of this process.
What Does a Fish Meal Plant Do?
A fish meal plant undertakes the task of converting fish waste and by-products into valuable commodities. The primary products are fish meal, which is used in animal feed, and fish oil, which has various applications in food and industrial products. This transformation involves several key stages, including cooking, pressing, drying, and milling.
Key Features of a Fish Meal Plant
1. Efficient Processing: Fish meal plants are designed to handle large volumes of raw fish materials efficiently. The plants incorporate advanced machinery that ensures the processing is conducted swiftly, minimizing waste and maximizing output.
2. High-Quality Products: One of the primary goals of a fish meal plant is to produce high-quality fish meal and fish oil. This involves stringent quality control measures at every stage of production to ensure that the end products meet the required standards.
3. Environmental Considerations: Modern fish meal plants are built with a focus on environmental sustainability. They incorporate systems to manage waste and emissions, ensuring that the processing of fish by-products does not adversely impact the environment.
How Does a Fish Meal Plant Work?
1. Raw Material Reception: The process begins with the reception of raw materials, which include fish by-products and whole fish that are not suitable for human consumption. These materials are sorted and stored in appropriate conditions to prevent spoilage.
2. Cooking: The raw materials are then cooked to coagulate the proteins and separate the water and oil from the solid fish material. This step is crucial as it prepares the materials for subsequent processing stages.
3. Pressing: After cooking, the mixture is pressed to extract fish oil and water from the solid fish material. The solids, known as press cake, are then moved to the drying stage.
4. Drying: The press cake is dried to reduce the moisture content to a suitable level. This ensures that the fish meal has a longer shelf life and is safe for use in animal feeds.
5. Milling and Packaging: Finally, the dried fish meal is milled to the desired consistency and packaged for distribution. The fish oil is also processed and stored in containers for shipment.
Applications of Fish Meal and Fish Oil
Fish meal and fish oil produced by fish meal plants have a wide range of applications:
Animal Feed: Fish meal is a critical ingredient in the diets of livestock, poultry, and aquaculture species due to its high protein content and digestibility.
Fertilizers: Fish meal is also used in organic farming as a natural fertilizer, providing essential nutrients to crops.
Food and Industrial Uses: Fish oil is used in various food products, dietary supplements, and industrial applications such as biodiesel production.
Choosing the Right Fish Meal Plant Machinery
When setting up a fish meal plant, selecting the right machine is crucial. Factors to consider include the capacity of the plant, the types of fish materials being processed, and the desired end products. Investing in high-quality machinery from reputable manufacturers ensures efficient processing, high-quality outputs, and compliance with environmental standards.
Conclusion
A fish meal plant plays a vital role in transforming fish by-products into valuable products such as fish meal and fish oil. By understanding the process and the features of a fish meal plant, stakeholders can appreciate the importance of this industry in supporting animal feed production, agricultural practices, and various industrial applications. When considering the establishment or upgrade of a fish meal plant, it is essential to focus on efficiency, product quality, and environmental sustainability to ensure success.

I am trying to choose to hope.
I am choosing to imagine public transportation.
Grocery stores with attached soup kitchens to decrease food waste.
Neighborhood meal- and garden-sharing programs.
Green spaces connecting to other green spaces.
The rainforest ADVANCING, churning up dry soil and turning it dark and healthy.
The sky filled with birds and the sea with fish, their populations increasing.
The air and water clean.
Emissions-free vehicles on roadways, with speeds governed, and safe streets for tricycles, bicycles, dogs, deer, and stray soccer balls.
Solar panels on every public building, over every parking lot.
Beehives and wildflowers on the open berms between roadways.
The total lack of gunshots around the world, and instead the sound of shovels, digging holes to plant fruit trees by public sidewalks.

How much does a complete set of fishmeal plant cost?
In fact, in response to this customer's problem, we must first understand one thing. The investment in fishmeal plant https://www.feedsmachinery.com depends more on your production capacity, technology, and the choice of equipment manufacturers. Let's talk about fishmeal equipment from these aspects and price difference.
Tumblr media
1.Fish meal processing capacity
The production capacity of fishmeal processing depends on the processing volume of raw materials. Based on the 24h automatic processing of fishmeal processing equipment, we plan the amount of raw materials that need to be processed in one day to decide how large a production line to adopt. For example, the monthly output mentioned by the customer is 100 tons, then it is about 30 tons per day. The processing capacity of fish meal is determined, and then we have a rough plan for the construction of the plant, the investment of equipment, and the improvement of supporting facilities. Next, we will determine the equipment investment of the fishmeal production line according to the selection of the estimated processing technology.
2. Fish meal processing technology
The processing technology of fishmeal is mainly divided into two types, dry fishmeal processing and wet fishmeal processing. Of course, the fishmeal processing equipment required by different processing technologies is different. I will not introduce too much here. Interested friends can check《What's Include In Fish Meal Machine ? 》, introduces the detailed process and specific equipment.
3. Fish meal plant manufacturers
China's fishmeal processing industry started late, so the supporting fishmeal processing equipment is also later than other countries. However, with the rapid development of China's fishmeal processing industry, the supporting fishmeal processing equipment has also made a qualitative leap, and many fishmeal processing equipment manufacturers have also Impacting foreign markets, thanks to the quality and affordable prices of Chinese fishmeal machine, Chinese fishmeal machine is increasingly recognized by users in foreign markets. For fishmeal processing enterprises, more customers are willing to choose Chinese fishmeal plant.
