The Fan meet was so fun! they are the cutest beans and I love them and literally witnessing the love stare they do irl was incredible, I also EarthMix and they are so funny and energetic, it was such a great experience

Also FirstKhao basically only spoke in english and didn't even need the translator for the questions most of the time I was so proud and impressed🥹🥹🥹🥹

hello just in case anyone is checking in on where i am lmao:

i gave myself up until the end of labor day weekend to dick around (i.e. working on tptp) and not do things i need to be doing (i.e. everything else) with this self-imposed deadline being imposed as such because i have a LOT of shit i need to work on in the coming weeks. i actually am, like, 32 years old, and have a full time job in academic medicine (… well, ish, im a perpetual fellow) and have a TON to get done on top of just working INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

-> research that i am so so regretfully the principal investigator on and have funding for somehow so i actually have to do it and produce results

-> meeting after meeting after meeting for said research. Why is there so much politics in research. Why is medicine such a fucking joke.

-> leaving country in 2 weeks

-> prepping to leave country in two weeks including tying up loose ends at work, doctors appointments, meds, clothes on top of making sure everything is planned and updated for the travel itself because I planned the entire trip lmao

-> finish updating my CV

-> cold-calling and emailing local programs for jobs because you would think after four years of college, four years of med school, three years of residency, three years of fellowship and another one year of even more fellowship people would be falling all over themselves to recruit MY ass but FYI unless you have a large NIH grant or you have a personal relationship with program heads your ass is NOT getting headhunted. and also MD jobs worth getting never get posted about online because, as mentioned above, openings are rarely made public and if they are they're desperate to hire anyone which is often not a good sign. Anyway most people say have a contract in hand between December-February which is… something.

-> abstract for (conference) due in a month, for (conference #2) in two months

-> critical care boards in two months that i need to start studying for!!!

-> lecture series for (x) fellows development and execution that I don’t have the dates for yet…

… anyway. I’m tired. I’m hoping to have time to write when traveling but damn. These are non-problem problems because I’m privileged to get to do any of this but at the same time it feels like a lot to manage. The good news is since I started getting medicated like 6 months ago I’m not totally shutting down at the prospect of this, but it’s still a bit stressful. Sigh.

i think the most infuriating part of my tmnt 2012 rewatch is seeing all the mistakes and how the smallest of changes would do wonders for the show.

not to say that there's an overwhelming amount of issues with '12 or anything, but some things just keep bothering me. and one of them is a part of my (as well as seemingly many others') favorite arc in the show, the farmhouse arc. to be more specific, a part of leo's struggles.

pretty much everyone and their mother had made memes about ghost splinter just telling leo to 'get over' his leg injury, that it's 'all in his head'. obviously infuriating to watch, and even more bizarre, when it actually works.

and i think the intention behind this part of leo's arc was that he had healed his wounds during his coma and maybe some physical therapy (that was not shown and that's only if the writers thought of physical therapy at all) and all, or at least most, of the troubles he's facing are due to chronic phantom pain, not any physical injuries.

which isn't much better in terms of the 'just get over it, pussy' speech, but in my opinion it's still an improvement from the same speech, used in the context of ACTUAL PHYSICAL INJURY.

and it's NOT IN THE SHOW. i understand the whole "show don't tell" and "don't spell out everything for the viewer" and i'm all for it, but first, this show is notorious for not telegraphing it's intent (ekhem capritello ekhem) and misusing it's characters and second, i'm not saying there should be a scene, where leo looks into the camera like he's in the office and says "even though i'm fully healed physically, i still feel the pain in my mind and will have to overcome it to be a ninjaaa". obviously.

the perfect fix for that, in my opinion, would just be a small dialogue bit, spoken by either raph or donnie or maybe dialogue between them, sort of like

"isn't he supposed to be all healed up?"

"well, yes, but his body is not the only part of him that shredder hurt."

or something like that. it's just one of these things that don't take much to be bettered. of which there are quite plenty in '12. still a fun show, just has some flaws.

What if Chris doesn't show up at Clarisse's house pre botl? What if he's guided (maybe by Hermes) to Connor and Travis' instead?

Chris, who is to me at least implied to be unclaimed as yet in the show, who is suffering severely mentally as a result of what he endured alone in the labyrinth, shows up on Connor and Travis' doorstep. They haven't seen him in years now, not since he ditched camp to follow Luke to Kronos. He's clearly unwell and barely recognises them. They worry it's a trick, and that's when Chris is claimed by Hermes. The Stolls decide to take the risk, well Connor mainly does; Connor has more faith in Hermes than Travis ever did. They bring Chris to camp, where they and Clarisse try to help him, to keep him going until Mr D returns. Mr D does save the day, Chris' mind is restored, but then there's the hard part. The initial distrust, the slow and painful path to reconciliation and redemption. If done right, it could be a banger of an arc.

It gives a reason a better reason for why Katie accuses Travis of being the spy in tlo; "you brought your brother - who wasn't claimed until recently and only you and Connor saw it - to camp after he showed up apparently randomly at your doorstep? After he joined Luke - your other brother - and Kronos? After he went on a mission to try and use the labyrinth to destroy camp?" Travis, of course, wasn't the spy, but at least there's a reason for suspicion on the others' parts outside of 'he's Luke's brother' (which is the general consensus and interpretation from the fandom, which never really made sense to me as Luke had left camp four years before tlo and there's a high chance Katie wasn't even at camp at that point).

They've already started by introducing Chris so early, but I hope they expand his story and the Stolls' roles, especially in botl and tlo. Let them have complicated feelings about Luke. Let them mourn him, and let them hate him. Let the angst hit.
