My 2024 art summary! I drew a lot this year! 💕
Tumblr media
Once again, it's filled with FE3H and a sliver of Ace Attorney. I don't see much improvement, but my love for Ferdinand remains strong 🧡
I had a phase with my Ferdinand BL harem, participated in a couple zines as a contributor and/or mod, made a diminand comic for the first time, and of course ferdibert with the release of my new art book!
Thank you to everyone who has been following or has found my artwork this year! I greatly appreciate your support 🥰

As I wrap up my replay of Octopath Traveler II, I can't help but get ideas for Osvald/Partitio fics, because it's such a small ship (even within OT2's already small fandom) but one with such entertaining potential. So have some fic prompts based on my headcanons and assorted other thoughts; I'm not a fic writer so nothing will ever come of any of those, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to share them with the few other shippers out there.
Osvald returns to Frigit Isle in the postgame for (insert practical reason here) with Partitio in tow. He's confronted with the weight of his five years in prison coming back to him, and Partitio has to reckon with getting a firsthand look at the hell his lover went through. Angsty, of course.
(Based on my headcanon that Oresrush, like the US Wild West it's loosely based on, is an environment where men will have sex with each other but never discuss it publicly.) Papp and Partitio both have loving partnerships with other men, and even though their relationships are basically open secrets to everyone else father and son have never talked about it with each other. Osvald, more worldly but not very tactful, points this out when all four are at dinner or something; hilarity and awkwardness ensue. I imagine Roque's reaction to be disbelief that Partitio never even suspected despite having essentially grown up with two fathers.
Partitio realizes he has a daddy kink. Osvald finds this intellectually fascinating, and is happy to indulge. Extra points if this happens the first time that Partitio sees Osvald all cleaned up for the first time.
Some kind of divine intervention thing that runs with their respective connections to Alephan and Bifelgan, and the final story pairing those two.
Based on my headcanon about them living in New Delsta for a while in the postgame. Partitio goes on several dates with Agnea that are much covered by the press, but fail to start anything. Agnea has to help him figure himself out, and Osvald has to eventually realize that he'll have to be at least a bit expressive if he wants to be more than friends with benefits with Partitio.
La Belle et la Bête crossover/AU thing, similar to my Wicked Ferdibert (from Fire Emblem: Three Houses) concept only without any singing. Not necessarily taking anything from the Disney adaptations, hence the distinction. One could easily fold in Osvald's main story with Harvey and Elena and the One True Magic, while also letting Partitio keep his mercantile sensibilities and close relationship with his father. Basically, adapting Osvald's canon plot to fit into the AU rather than contorting the characters to fit any specific version of the AU's story.

Homage to the April Ferdibert Week
Realistically, I know that no event runs forever because people have lives and new games and such come out, but it's just odd to go without the first year each time it happens, lol.
Anyway, here's to three years of stories from my Ferdibert Week collection on AO3 🖤🧡

Femslash Ships to Get to Know Me
As I figured she would, Annie (@udaberriwrites) went and tagged me for the other half of my list! You can find the M/M post over here~
**Rules**: Name at least five (but no upper limit) femslash (F/F) ships you love. Each from a different fandom.
1 - Twilight & Life and Death
I'd be quite remiss if I didn't mention the two femslash ships I'm writing right now - Rosalie/Eleanor (Elle) and Alice/Jessamine (Mina)! Like with the slash pairs I'm writing in that world, Carlisle/Beau and Edward/Mike, I didn't ship them at first (despite being the femslash version of canon pairs)... but as I wrote on, I ended up loving them!
2 - Teen Wolf
Well, my undisputed femslash OTP is Allydia (Allison/Lydia), and I love them so much that they inspired how I went about writing the above sapphic vampire ships! Also, I almost chose Teen Wolf instead of Twilight/Life and Death for my worldbuilding concept, and if I had, I'd be writing Allydia and my slash OTP, Steter, right now.
3 - Fire Emblem Three Houses
There are quite a few femslash FE3H ships I love, but my favorite is definitely Edelthea (Edelgard/Dorothea). In fact, three years ago, I started writing a Beauty and the Beast AU and it was supposed to include both Edelthea and Ferdibert (Hubert/Ferdinand) as the main ships, but that plan went bust when I left the fandom soon after >.>
4 - Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Oh, my love, MadoHomu (Kaname Madoka/Akemi Homura)! This pair of tragic lesbians really has my heart. I remember being stuck on them for months after I finished watching the anime... and honestly, I saw the potential for the ship to be written in an even darker manner, though it's not something I found all that often in the fandom.
5 - Ace Attorney
Salty and Momo might be shocked, but I've shipped FranMaya (Franziska von Karma/Maya Fey) for quite a while! They were the second ship I fell into after Narumitsu, in fact... but I will say that Momo's way of writing that pair definitely had me falling more into the pair than I had before! I'm also a major fan of Mia Fey/Lana Skye - there's just something powerful about that duo~
...
Huh... I can't pin out as many similarities between my femslash ships as I could with my slash ships. All those ladies have some dark stuff going on... but unlike with some of the slash ships, the dark and/or ambiguous stuff is more in the surroundings than the dynamic itself.
Oh, but they all have that magic/supernatural component to them! Vampires in #1, werewolves and banshees in #2, magic in #3, magical girl stuff in #4, and spirits and possession in #5, so...
Tagging @axolotlsupremacyowo @alpaca-clouds @sliebman10 @kayedium-writes @tamras-shieldmaiden @aislinnstanaka @mrsmungus and the open tag as always.

ferdinand von aegir - 1, 8, 12, 25!
(chara ask game)
1. Why do you like or dislike this character? I have a soft spot for characters who are sort of disliked by everyone on account of how "obnoxious" they can be and their inability to read social cues, but these characters are still trying their best yk? He's my babygirl cinnamon roll and he's too good for this world, too pure, and he's a lil dumb but he's got a good heart!! tl;dr: i love him for his autistic swag
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise? hmm nothing comes to mind bc I haven't interacted w/ fe3h fandom much and when I did, I was surrounded by people who really loved ferdie and have just the best takes on his character OH right not completely related but there was one time a couple years ago (or more) where someone tweeted jeritza should replace ferdinand in the adrestian trio and i have never been so angry abt a fan opinion in my entire life bc how could you be so WRONG
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character? Fe3h hasn't been a fixation of mine for a while and I feel like there are many writers and artists who have already gone above and beyond fleshing out ferdie's character, so i don't feel like i have much to add;; I'll share one of my fav hcs though and it's that during times of peace ferdinand would do his best to find a tea blend that would suite hubert's bitter tastes
25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now? I think my first impression and my current impressions are pretty much the same; I couldn't afford a switch+the game so most of my fe3h experience is through playthroughs, random clips, and fandom posting so my first obsession was the blue lions, then I came across ferdibert and that's where my obsession w/ the ship (and by extension ferdie himself) started. He's always been a multilayered bbg to me <33

19, 26, 27 for the fic writer asks?
Share your favorite opening line
“The morning was cold, and Zelkov was cold, and everything was wrong.” from ‘Shatter’
If you had to choose one, what was THE most satisfying writing moment of your year?
I would say putting together a ferdibert fic I was happy with for the first time this year was really good—“To the Sun, to the Ground” was this for me! I felt like I got the right vibe for them in that fic and I was really pleased with it.
Did you do anything special to celebrate finishing a fic?
Not really, but a lot of my fics have titles from song lyrics so I usually listen to the song in question when I finish one!

Fic Updates (second half)
As I mentioned previously, this is the second half of the updates I wanted to share that directly regard some stuff on my profile.
I mentioned that I like to be reserved about what I write, mostly because I don’t want to make false promises in case something falls through. A few months ago, I mentioned that I was working on an edeleth pirate AU. While I may someday go back to that, I found that what I was writing was a little too ooc, and would be better implemented into an original story than with the characters we already know and love.
After Tailtean: I said I wasn’t going to abandon this fic, and I’m not! I’m actually here to say that I plan to just move it around a bit. This was first posted around the time I was still figuring out how to use Ao3, and was me experimenting with writing multiple dynamics. My original goal was to include a chapter for each black eagle member, but in order to do that, I had to include some ships I was more curious than passionate about. To be honest, I no longer see value in writing for some of them. What I’m planning on doing is turning the first chapter into a one shot, and making “After Tailtean” the name of the collection. The pairings that I do intend on writing for and adding to this series are Ferdibert and Edeleth, and some pairings I’m sort of “maybe if I someday get inspired” about are Leonie/Lysithea and Caspar/Linhardt. Sorry if you were hoping for another one listed, but it seems disingenuous to also try and pair everyone up because that realistically doesn’t happen in actual playthroughs or real life.
TYFH: Still writing it! I’m getting into the territory where I’m implementing theories of mine based on actual real life science, so it’s taking a minute to fact check for chapter 15. Also, I’ve decided to go a slightly different direction for chapters 16 onward than what was originally in my outline because that’s just how story progression works which will make it so that some of the future updates will be a little less consistent. If you think about it, I’ve been writing TYFH for almost a year now, and I feel like I’ve done a lot of personal growth in developing my writing and also learning more about AO3 as a site.
God Forbid, Pastor’s Kid: This was such a passion project for me and was also super healing to write, so I am ecstatic that it performed almost as well as TYFH (which is a multiple month long long fic btw) and resonated with so many people with similar experiences. In the author’s notes of the final chapter, I toyed with the idea of a “sequel” fic, and also mentioned once before that I started writing it. Right now, it looks like it will probably be 2 chapters (with a potential bonus chapter?). I tend to write for this universe as a one shot and divide it by where the good breaks would be, but it kind of looks like a one shot split into two chapters with a third legitimate separate chapter. Idk, we’ll see how that actually turns out when I get there.
That’s all I have for now!

Finished Scarlet Blaze before the start of the new year. I mean, I liked it enough, but as someone who played Crimson Flower first in Three Houses’, I really do think that CF showcased Edelgard’s personality a lot better. I thought Monica was alright; she annoyed me at certain points, but she didn’t detract from the route, in my opinion. Not to only rain on SB though: I loved that they gave Ferdinand some focus and expanded on the Ferdibert content that they introduced in their 3Houses’ support.

black eagles relationships i like but don’t see talked about enough
Ferdinand and Petra - I adore their supports. You see a lot of Ferdinand’s dorky side with his reading about historic weapons, and you see that he is genuinely curious about Petra’s culture. He admits that he initially didn’t realize how sophisticated Brigidian techniques are and I just adore his vulnerability with her. And then there’s Petra in their A support, admitting she found a second home in Fòdlan, and the two discuss their loneliness? It’s such interesting insight into both characters (especially Ferdie; I’d say these are some of his most well-rounded supports)
Hubert and Dorothea - Dorothea sees right through Hubert’s edgy theatre kid persona. She approaches him like she would any friend right from the beginning and teases him about his love life. She also respects and believes him when he says that unrequited love isn’t his motivation. I would’ve liked a conclusion that wasn’t Dorothea suggesting they marry, but it is really funny that she did that. I love their paired ending too--completely platonic espionage opera! What could be better?
Hubert and Byleth - in my head they have a quirky sitcom where Byleth keeps trying to arrange Edeleth/Ferdibert double dates and Hubert has to attend them. (but seriously, the appeal of Hubert is looking at this man and saying “I’m gonna make you like me”, and then you do it). Outside of my shipping biases, his threats to you are funny as shit considering that he has no power over you and he’s always dying in battle, but once you win his trust he admits that despite looking Blatantly Evil, he truly abhors TWSTID and is already planning their follow-up war. I could easily see him and Byleth co-leading the war in the shadows (and that’s where the dialogue of the aforementioned platonic Huleth workplace comedy takes place). Also my friend who played as m!Byleth told me the “we could be a couplet of birds” line in the A-support still exists regardless of gender. Hubert is demiromantic bi and you CANNOT change my mind
Edelgard and Petra - “Don’t settle for being the bird. Be the arrow instead” Both have a great deal of mutual respect for each other, even though Edelgard is heir to the nation that has kept Petra’s country down for years. You see the same beliefs Petra holds in her supports with Caspar here--that being, “we are not our parents, we can make different choices”. It’s a shame they only have 2 supports. I think it would’ve been cool to see Petra asking Edelgard for Brigidian independence or otherwise talking about how she can achieve her goal.
Edelgard and Linhardt - I actually think people talk about this a bit, but it’s one of my favourite Black Eagles support chains so I have to mention it. This one is the key to understanding that Edelgard’s better world is only possible in her route, when she has the support and opportunity to trust others enough to learn how to listen to them and consider their perspectives. I advise anyone who thinks Edelgard would be a brutal dictator to watch these supports, because they so blatantly contradict that idea? Linhardt initially frustrates her because she knows he’s talented and smart but he doesn’t want to do anything to help the world with that. Characters like Linhardt are usually given an arc in which they overcome an initial selfishness to help others. This is not that. These supports are about Edelgard learning to understand Linhardt and accommodate him. Edelgard agonizes over finding the perfect way to allow him to do his research in a way that suits him--and when she senses his hesitation at her initial plan, she presses him for the problem and reconfigures the idea because she won’t put him in a situation he’s not fully content in. This is astounding character growth (from both of them, but mostly Edelgard). Also the struggle depicted in this chain is just something that spoke to me when I first saw it--”be useful” versus “learn for knowledge’s sake” is pretty much my exact struggle in life 😂 Seeing two of my favourite characters reach a resolution that satisfied both of them was hopeful, to say the least.
Caspar and Ferdinand - What strikes me about their supports is that it compares and contrasts these characters’ ideas of justice against each other. Honestly, the Black Eagles as a whole have takes on morality that are just slightly skewed, and these characters’ arguments about it exemplify it. Caspar just thinks that people who hurt others should be hit right away, head empty no thoughts but j u s t i c e. Ferdinand initially believes that all sense of justice comes from being nobility, and with that comes an obligation to be morally superior. Having Caspar just go “uh yeah, what does nobility have to do with it? I just had to hit that guy” is one way in which Ferdinand’s ideals are challenged. It’s a cool contrast that I think highlights an interesting aspect of the Black Eagles and what they were taught.
Dorothea and Bernie - I love everything about their interaction. If Dorothea were a lesser character, she’d be the mean popular girl who shames Bernie for her messy hair and her anxiety. Instead, Dorothea is patient and Bernie is like “oh no she’s Too Cool for me”. Dorothea also makes note of what Bernie says as she gets too anxious to continue the interaction and aims to comfort her in their next support. We get a good Bernie character moment in their B-support, where she mentions her father ruining her friendship with a commoner boy--and a cathartic moment where Dorothea tells her that her father’s an asshole and that they’re going to be friends anyway. Bernie cries in Dorothea’s arms and AHHHH why didn’t we get MORE of this???
Bernie and Petra - If I could add any support and ending to the game, it would be Bernie/Petra. They have such a good starting point--because of Bernie’s anxiety and Petra being a second language speaker of Fòdlandish, they are prone to miscommunications (which is the general theme of early Bleagles supports). They had a nice 2-support arc where they understand each other a little better--but then there’s the paralogue, where Petra encourages Bernie to come to her homeland with her and Bernie realizes she wants to travel and see amazing things like carnivorous plants. This is fantastic character development for her and is a satisfying conclusion to her arc. I feel like most of Bernie’s endings involve her just reverting back to her hermit self instead of developing a balance between who she was at the beginning and who she’s grown into. I think Petra would offer to let her come to Brigid again, where she helps her navigate a new language and culture. Bernie’s anxiety is still bad but Petra has been in her position and can offer advise and reassurance. Petra is also patient and would give Bernie a safe little house near the carnivorous plants for her to retreat to when overwhelmed. It becomes both of their refuge, with Petra taking time away from her regal duties to spend time with Bernie and her art and her stories. Whether it’s romantic or platonic is up to preference but I low-key ship them 😏
