re - Edelgard being the most popular character ever according to FEH poll:
That same year Jorge, a NPC from Tellius, was included in the top 20... because a person on Reddit created a bot program to constantly vote for him and shared the code around.
And also by that point highly popular characters like Ike, Lucina, Lyn, Camilla, Roy, and Hector were already removed from the voting pool.
That's not to say her popularity is all a lie because we all know how popular 3H characters are, but claiming that popularity in a poll that could be botted with choices removed isn't the objective measurement some think it is. Especially in the case of FEH, where the fanservice-y girls of each book have also won despite having very little character at all (Baldr, Veronica, and Guliveg)
Although let's be real here - who cares about popularity in a series that is 30+ years old and has potentially hundreds of individual characters? You'll be a lot happier if you like who you like and stop feeling so insecure that others don't like them in turn. That's 80% of the toxicity of FE fandom in a nutshell.

>Byleth is a divinely ordained leader with no experience in statescraft
So are all the nobles (except 2/3 of them are more "descendants of genociders pretending to be divinely ordained") and they still can't achieve their military and political goals without an ~unqualified~ commoner

Catch these CYL vote counters never bringing up that the Deer have the most winners with 3 and are on track to grab another win with Hilda as a popular frontrunner for next year, yet they're unquestionably the least popular house in both the fanbase and FEH as a whole. But sure, CYL is an extremely accurate gauge of popularity.

Using a Heroes poll is hardly a worthy measure of popularity, and definitely not when comparing Edelgard and the character her fanbase rabidly hates for ruining their poor little empress’ life despite not doing a thing wrong to her. Edelgard had the most votes of anyone sure, but the vote counts have gone down significantly over the years and again, why would that rabid fanbase vote for Rhea? She’s a great character but you’ll never see any of them admit it.

A reminder that references to specific groups of fans in a negative sense, or using common derogatory labels, are not allowed per the rules. Currently that applies only to groups of fans for specific Three Houses characters, although based on some of the antagonism between fans of these games and other Fire Emblems I've considered expanding that if I have to.

You could try being a simpler guy and stop pretending like any of this fandom's many wannabe BNFs matter half as much as they think they do.

I'm a simple guy, I see people using Fantasy Invader as a source without admitting it and I start struggling to take anything they say seriously.

Byleth is objectively the best person to rule Fodlan since they're the player and Fodlan ceases to exist when you turn off the game.
That's the end result of modern FE's self insert pandering crap running up against everybody desperately pretending that 3H's politics actually matter.

Very much agree with the anon saying Silver Snow had a ton of potential, it should have been used to tell Rhea’s story and make her a character with supports and such. I love Rhea and she deserves so much better than what she got in 3H.

The teaspoon translation framing the church as more negative then it is in the original JP version is misinformation btw. Its actually the other way around, which has been pointed out by people here on Tumblr and on Twitter over and over again.
I also find the claim that Silver Snow and Rhea are that popular in JP very questionable. It reeks of a made up claim to give ones preferences more legitimacy. In the Famitsu 3H poll Black Eagle players chose Edelgards route over the church route with a strong supermajority of 923 vs 262, Rhea ranked below Edelgard in the most popular female characters and didn't cut the top 10 for S-Supports.
We also have the CYL polls in Heroes which are effectively popularity polls for all Fire Emblem characters. Edelgard still is the most voted unit in its history, while Rhea never won a round and did historically worse then secondary characters. Of course its an international route, but jp players still make up a core for heroes entire playerbase.

I hate Felix’s whiny ass. Like yeah, knighthood and chivalry is fucked up and all but he makes his argument in the most annoying way possible. Thracia 776 makes his point faster AND better with one conversation with August.

"SS proves Fodlan doesn't need nobles, it just needs to become a theocracy and get itself a divinely ordained immortal sovereign! It's based though, because they're a commoner with no experience at state craft."

Silver Snow shows that you can get rid of nobles and things will be fine. Notice how Caspar, Linhardt, and Bernadetta don't contribute much to governance in their endings? If they die then the continent's not missing out on anything they desperately need for post-war recovery. Even Ferdinand's SS endings are kinda vague about how important he is for Fódlan overall, ie he never actually becomes prime minister or anything. As long as you keep the staff adults alive Fódlan's fine because they're generally the ones who make more solid contributions.
So ironically this is the route where you can prove Edelgard 100% correct because you can just kill off nobles left and right (including her) before placing the competent commoner (Byleth) in charge and it works. Fódlan doesn't need hereditary nobility, it just needs Hanneman and Seteth never getting to retire. And if you keep Cyril alive and get his solo ending, it even opens the possibility of turning all those students into a new generation of competent government officials who will never retire.

It's funny to me when people here act like Koei-Tecmo are these bastions of originality compared to the IntSys's hack writers. Isn't the entirety of Dynasty Warriors just Romance of the Three Kingdoms fanfiction? At least Fire Emblem tells original stories even if they're copying each other all the time.

I guess the writers figured that Indech wouldn't help anyone who killed his niece and his brother(?).

So why does Linhardt's paralogue disappear from the calendar if you kill Seteth and Flayn in CF Ch 15? No other paralogue just vanishes from the schedule like that before its designated end date, so it has to mean something.
