#first draft notes go brrrr

Time to write NOTES because i need to get these out all of these are vaguely thought of whilst listening aggressively to this. Yay. Song ideas !!

I am not gonna sugar coat it, this Au is just gonna be basically the song in words. I had a vague idea similar to it before but now the song just kinda made it flourish. I thought it'd be fun and a good world building exercise. So here come the bullet points! - 'Akira' comes from a different world that's been long since destroyed. He doesn't talk about it. Not even to those who rescued him. Not that they ask. - It was Philemon who rescued him. Happened on like. January first? something like that. Wasn't intentional but it just ended up happening when Phil was investigating a oddity in the Sea of Souls. - 'Akira' needed something to do after a while so put his knowledge of his world to use. Knowledge he learned from a long gone friend. Made some items here and there. Philemon indulged him. - It was 'Akira's' idea for the workshop. Thought he could be useful that way. He labeled Philemon the owner because he didn't want that responsibility. Besides, if people saw him as the shop keeper they'd trust him more. - The workshop helps those who are unfortunate in life, who have no other options. The shopkeeper is never the 'same' across visits. And No one has ever seen the creator of the items the workshop sells. - 'Akira' may or may not have been the reason of the destruction of his old home. it certainly would explain why he's so determined to do right in this one. - Akechi enters the shop when he's 12, and nearly sees something he shouldn't. That's how he meets Akira for the First time. - Usually the workshop only shows up to someone once in their life time as usually the item the shop gives them solves the reason it showed up for the first time. - Akechi. Is a disaster. For multiple reasons. - This world has *Magic* but it also has the metaspace/metaverse alongside Personae. I haven't decided how that works yet. I'll probably figure it out as i write. If i can. - Akechi meets Akira a grand total of like, 3 times before Shido keels over and dies finally. - Shido dies and 'Akira' decides that he wants to explore the world. After all now its different to how he knew it. - Yaldy never got a foot hold here bc of The workshop. He's *getting* there, but isn't close enough. - Akira, deciding to live as a human for a little bit, ends up being the catalyst for Yaldy getting a foothold in the minds of the masses. I have not decided ANNNYTHING beyond this. Maybe i will, maybe I wont. We'll find out in the next installment of "How many songs can i fit into one AU idea without anyone noticing?"

Brain juices go brrrr

I've always wanted to make like a list of all the fics I've got in the works, like in a public space like this where I can openly keep tabs on my progress and where everything is at and just how much brain juices I'm shaking everywhere without looking, because I want to be more open about what I'm up to, so uuuuh yeah this is gonna be it

In no particular order of importance, I present you with the inner machinations of my mind, a WIP

Scattering Embers: My current fixation; SE is a three part multi-chaptered fic, for an AU I call the Demon Hunter AU, each part separated by a time skip; Ignition, taking place in canon present, Combustion, taking place five years later, and Incandescence, another five years later. It's got Rin/Shiemi and Yukio/Bon all over it, and it's told from all of their POVs, plus Shiro's, in a format where one chapter is divided in five sub-chapters, one for each POVs.

Ignition is where it starts, in which I take a spin on the whole "Rin gets his heart unsealed at the start of the story" trope and have both him and Yukio go on the run while they're actively being pursued by the Order, while Shiemi and Ryuji both deal with the repercussions on their end, and things escalate until it's out of everyone's hands. As of writing this, this part is finished with the first draft! I just need to proofread, finish the illustrations (because yes I illustrate my fics lol) and I can post it when it's ready.

Combustion and Incandescence aren't started yet, but they are outlined and next on the list for SE.

Icebound Hellfire: Tis the sequel to Phosphorous Snowfall! PS ended on a good note where I'd be satisfied if I didn't get to continue it, but I do still have ideas for this AU, because it's near and dear to my heart, so I'll keep it in here even if I haven't really started it.

This fic is my spin on the Demon Prince Rin trope, with a focus on Rin and Yukio's relationship and the two of them growing closer despite not knowing that they're brothers. The story is all about the desire to keep living, and doing all that one can to live life to the fullest and understand all that there is to understand about one's humanity and place in the world.

Ballad of Shemihaza: My second current fixation; a LoZ/AoEx crossover! In this one I basically retell the story of Skyward Sword with a complete AoEx-themed makeover, so it's not a word-for-word retelling. Rin/Shiemi, Yuri/Shiro, and a dash of Yukio/Ryuji but mostly platonic.

The people of Assiah have been living in the skies in peace for generations, protected by the grace of their goddess Shemihaza, and the force of their order of Knights defending their civilization from demons. Rin is on his way to becoming a Knight of his own, but to achieve that he must pass a test and compete with the other Exwires for the title, but even that is a test on its own, because no one really believes that he can do it. This day is bittersweet for him and his family; on that day, ten years back, his and his twin's father Shiro fell below the clouds during a storm, and to this day this event still haunts them, and is the reason why Rin wants to become a Knight; to protect his family, and his best friend, Shiemi, who is the only one to give the twins a chance despite their questionable lineage. And yet, on this day, a terrible cataclysm would soon strike the peaceful lives of the people of the skies, and force them to look down at the realm hidden beneath the clouds, for the first time... As of writing this, I am currently still in the first arc, but making steady progress!

Okumura Yukio's Field Guide to Taming a Demon: This one is my own spin on the Feral Demon!Rin trope! Entirely Rin and Yukio focussed, from Yukio's POV. It's got established background Yukio/Ryuji, and a looot of Yukio and Rin brotherly fluff.

This story is all about Yukio finding out that, after his mother died over twenty years ago, his adoptive father made the choice of abandoning the demon child she carried, while saving him instead, thus revealing that he's had a brother he never knew about, and he might just be long dead. He is outraged, and in a fit of anger and grief tells his father never to speak to him ever again, and vanishes for three years... Until Shiro one day receives an envelope from his son, with nothing more than a USB drive inside. Yukio has compiled all of his field notes into videos and logs, that he has forwarded to his father, in his quest to figure out what happened to his lost brother after all these years... As of now, this story is entirely outlined, planned, and is being written with slow progress, but it's happening!

Dear Prince, Dear Dragon: Not quite a fic, but a fancomic series! I plan on hosting this one here on Tumblr because the format is perfect for it; it'll be a bunch of many small chapters, to keep it easy to follow. Yukio/Ryuji, Rin/Shiemi, and a dash of Yuri/Shiro. Arranged marriage AU!

This story is set in a kingdoms kind of setting, with Assiah and Gehenna being different kingdoms, and with Gehenna being the all-consuming country trying to absorb everything into itself with wars and conflict. One day, while Yukio and Shiemi are conducting research in the princes' personal quarters, Yukio gets called in by his father the King to attend a meeting with a delegation from Assiah, much to his surprise - because his father has practically forgotten about his existence. However, his curiosity soon turns to horror when he realizes what his father is doing; he is selling him off to another family, as a pact of peace between their warring countries! Without a word to say against it, Yukio is now set to marry the heir of the Suguro family, who just so happens to have a deep hatred for his kind, and he realizes just how screwed he is... As of writing this, I've got the story outlined, and I've already started working on a buffer of chapters; it will be in a sketch style, so I'm not too overwhelmed when I have to work on my original webcomics at the same time. I'm very excited about this one, ngl!

Searing Bite: This one's a Vampire AU! I sadly haven't made much progress on this one outside of exploring it via artworks, but this exploring does keep it fresh in my mind, so it still exists. Rin/Shiemi and Shiro/Yuri, so far at least.

Seven years ago, the Okumura family vanished from sight after a terrible disaster struck their family, when a demon came to town and, in an act of revenge, killed their eldest son, Rin. Shiemi, who was betrothed to Rin and set to marry before he was taken from her, was left alone with only the memory of what took place, and so went on to True Cross Academy to study demons and exorcism, until she one day stumbled upon Yuri, the matriarch of the Okumuras, and promptly started a correspondence with her. One day, Yuri invites her to come work for her at their current estate, up on a lonely mountain, with her skills as an herborist, and of course Shiemi accepts. She has no idea, however, what she's about to find on that mountain, and in that old estate... I have at least started writing this one; still in the first chapter, but hey, a start is a start!

Under Scorching Waters: Pirate AU! Same as above, not much progress, but I draw a lot for this AU so progress is progress lol Rin/Shiemi and Shiro/Yuri planned for it so far, as always.

One day when she was young, the little mistress of Futsumaya Temple walked out on the beach, followed closely by her chaperone Ryuji, who urged her to come back inside for the bay was foggy and in the air lingered the smell of smoke. Debris floated in the bay, all telling a story in their silence and stillness... until they spotted a young boy, washed ashore and unconscious. Naked, his only possession was a sword, to which he was clinging like his life depended on it. When he stirred awake, he introduced himself as Yukio Okumura, and Shiemi told him he would be safe with them... But the sword he was clinging to was a demon sword, and she quickly found that out, but decided to keep it secret, all the while wondering where this young boy could have come from...

Unnamed Villain!Rin Fic: The title speaks for itself lol It's a Villain!Rin AU! In which Rin is a villain working for the Illuminati! Not much actually started on this one so I'll keep the actual plot hush hush for now, but I am working on it in my head and in artworks, so there you go. That's all you get on this one.

The Beast Inside: A LoZ fic! So, many years ago, when I was a wee lass, I wrote a Twilight Princess fic on FFN with the same name, got to right before the last chapter, and never finished it because I never planned out the ending lol I am here now to fix that, and so I have outlined this entire fic, with a better story, better writing, and actual planning. It's actually gonna be readable this time, surprised pikachu face.

Several years after the events of TP, Link hasn't yet retrieved a sense of normalcy in his life, and can't quite get back to being who he was before all of it. He sneaks out in secret, under the guise of just taking walks by himself with his horse, and secretly uses what remains of the shadow crystal Midna had left behind all those years ago to transform back into a beast, and experience one last time what the thrill was like, to feel something before its power completely depletes. However, his delight is cut short when he makes an unfortunate encounter in the woods, with a group of Goron merchants who mistake him for a beast trying to eat a horse and its rider, and in taking a beating from them, the shadow crystal breaks, and one of the shards gets imbedded into his shoulder. When he wakes up, he's still a beast, the rest of the shards are missing, and so is Epona, and he has to do something... before he gets stuck like this forever... As of writing this, the fic is entirely outlined, but not yet started.

ok, I’ve had a lot of people ask me for advice on where to start with Brandon Sanderson books. so, for my own convenience and the hopeful pursuasion of strangers, I wrote up my own crash course. hopefully this helps!

Abbey’s comprehensive guide to Brandon Sanderson

First, lemme tell you about the Cosmere.

Ok. Brando the madman has written a LOT of books. They vary in genre, but ultimately they all have one thing in common—they’re all magical!

There are cosmere books and non-cosmere books. Cosmere is the name of Branderson’s high-fantasy universe that he pours all his best worldbuilding, magic, and story into. It includes a bunch of separate series that are connected through that universe. All other series he’s written outside of the cosmere are unconnected.

The cosmere books tend to be more in-depth when it comes to worldbuilding, and they’re generally heavier in lore and politics, since he pours all his energy into them. They should be read in a certain order if you want to have the full understanding of some stuff that happens. All the non-cosmere series can be read in any order (aside from the order within the series itself, obviously).

There’s also a book of short stories in the cosmere called Arcanum Unbounded. It’s an optional read, but it explains a lot, especially in the Mistborn series.

“So! What order should I read them in?” you ask. Well, it depends on what you want. Here’s my recommendation of the order in which to read the cosmere books, followed by a list of non-cosmere series I love:

Cosmere series:

Elantris

Elantris is a stand-alone book about a holy city that has lost its power. I LOVE IT.

Warbreaker is another stand-alone! It’s about a young girl, a lazy deity, and a grumpy warrior with a talking sword.

Mistborn

Mistborn has two trilogies, the second of which has a fourth book planned. The first trilogy follows a girl who gets caught up in an impossible heist to overthrow the government. Then, a couple hundred(ish?) years after the events of the first trilogy, two dudes named Wax and Wayne engage in a fun, magical whodunnit western murder mystery. It sounds chaotic, and it is. It’s also excellent.

First Trilogy:

It’s about a once-soldier become slave, a witty artist, and a stoic highprince with TWO WONDERFUL SONS. It has two sets of series planned, but the most recent is book four of the first series.

White Sand (Optional)

White Sand is a graphic novel about a dude with sand magic. It’s very good, but completely optional. If you want to, though, you can reread that series after reading white sand and understand those things later. No rush.

I know. It’s a lot. On the bright side, you have a TON of content to enjoy, and an interaction-starved fandom to talk about it with!

MAKE NOTE, THOUGH, Mistborn doesn’t need to be read before The Stormlight Archive. Technically, neither does Elantris. I would highly recommend reading at least Warbreaker before starting Stormlight Archive, though. It’s up to you when you want to read Elantris and Mistborn, but there are things in Stormlight Archive that will make more sense after you’ve at least read the first trilogy of Mistborn.

Aaaand there you have it! Brandon Sanderson’s complete guide of books. At least, the ones I can remember right now. Keep in mind that he not only keeps a website with multiple progress bars to keep you updated on where he is on his current drafts & projects, but he also has a yearly update he writes on his said website, listing and describing progress on every project he’s ever mentioned—including movie deals and TV scripts. He also uploads advice lectures on storybuilding and writing online.

He also takes care in representation! He has a ton of diverse characters, who differ not only in ethnicity, but sexuality, philosophical beliefs, and mental illness. And basically every character has character development overhaul, especially in his cosmere books. Especially especially in Stormlight Archive. (even his side characters get developed). He’s also incredibly funny and witty, so the jokes riddled throughout are just golden.

In short, this man is the embodiment of the “haha writing machine go brrrr” meme. And he answers questions and keeps his fans updated. Enjoy amazing content by a consistent writer that actually respects, values, and listens to his fandom :D

ahaha well september was kind of a whirlwind month huh? my main priority was completing and publishing the final chapter of “cover my skin...” which i did accomplish, so YAY!! i’m very excited to have completed my first sylvix fic and am really touched by how much support it’s gotten. :’’) 

i had told myself that i would try to finish one of my other wips before i delved into the sylvix dreamscape fic but....well, i lied. the concept has been living in my head rent-free for months so finally i was like LOL FUCK IT and just started it and now i’ve already written like 12k of it so ahaha oops! anyway i think that’s going to continue to be my main priority because it’s probably the project i’m most excited about.

BUT.....i also do really hope to edit and publish a chapter of altea rising this month. i finally sat down and divided up what i have left of it (well...besides the last few scenes which i haven’t written yet but SHHHH). i forget if i’ve mentioned it but i’ve decided to up it from 15 chapters to roughly....20 or so.... so if i was able to get out at least one chapter before the end of the month, that’d be a huge weight off my chest (and it would be nice for anyone who still cares who’s been waiting for like two years for an update *laughs nervously*). and if i have time, i hope maybe i can work on writing the ending as well.

speaking of klance projects, i’m also really hoping i can finish up a draft of the klance hotel au during october. i only have like....3 scenes of it left so i just need to get it done. i had hoped to publish it by the end of the summer given its summer themes and all but HAHA OH WELL joke’s on me for being a horrible procrastinator! 

AAAAND another big priority is writing a first draft of my piece for long live zine, which is a fe3h zine centered around the faerghus four! it’s my first fe3h zine so i am super excited - i have started writing my piece and i’m having a lot of fun with it so far!!

oh yeah also. im way behind on the times but i FINALLY watched pacific rim which is a movie i have meant to watch for years....i loved it and also it immediately made my brain go “brrrrr sylvix au brrrr” so....that is something i have discussed at length with numerous friends and i now have like 10+ pages of notes about it and hope to continue planning those ideas. 

lastly....i’m hoping this month to open up fic commissions at some point. *crosses fingers* i recently picked up some copyediting work so i’m kinda seeing how much of my time/energy that’s gonna require, but since it’s only 15 hours a week i’m hoping i can fit in some commissions on the side SO....i’ve done a lot of planning for it and hopefully i can open those up soon so keep your eyes peeled!
