Urgent Appeal: Support Our Humanitarian Mission in Gaza
My name is Osama , I am a humanitarian activist and founder of "A Sign of Hope team" a dedicated team committed to providing essential aid to displaced families in the South of the Gaza Strip. As a non-registered organization, our team operates with limited resources but with an unwavering commitment to supporting those in dire need amidst the ongoing crisis.
✅️Vetted by @gazavetters, my number verified on the list is ( #209 )✅️
The Crisis: A Devastating Displacement
The recent escalation in violence has led to an unprecedented humanitarian disaster. Over 1.5 million people have been forced to flee their homes in the northern Gaza Strip, seeking safety in the south. This mass displacement has left countless individuals and families in precarious situations, having abandoned everything they owned in their desperate bid for safety. The dire conditions are exacerbated by the fact that approximately 390,000 of these displaced individuals have sought refuge in UNRWA schools. The remaining displaced persons, who were unable to secure shelter with relatives or rental accommodations, are left to live in makeshift tents scattered across various locations in the south of Gaza. These individuals face extreme hardships, with basic necessities like food, clothing, and medicine often out of reach.

I love Chiyo- and I kind of headcanon her as a Witch of the Woods (Sands???) archetype- a bitter old woman who has sacrificed too much, experienced and committed more atrocities than anyone can imagine, and who knows the truth about what lies in the hearts of men to live among the villages anymore.
In my AU she's got a pretty dark backstory. Back in time when Villages were just getting established, women weren't allowed to be shinobi in the same capacity as men. There was too much warring and death among the clans to risk women, so they were only ever allowed to serve as spies or medics. (Chiyo started off as a medic).
And like any military/fascist dictatorship, serving the state was more important than anything else- so women who were kunoichi were given missions to steal and return with powerful bloodlines. Even before villages, this was a common fear among clans (which is why so many of them have protective measures and inbreed/arrange matches very carefully).
Chiyo was one such woman, who took a X-rated mission in her youth because she was told it would 'serve her nation'. There was a powerful bloodline whose Kekkei Genkai could harden sand to something akin to Steel- something Suna very desperately wanted.
Chiyo succeeded in her mission, but despite the veneer of 'serving your nation', when she returned, she was considered, in her words, "Just another whore."
Then when her son didn't manifest the bloodline- it was worse, but Chiyo was happy because that meant her son was HERS. (This is when she met Enji, and he saved her son's life at great cost- so Chiyo owes him a blood/life debt.)
Then the war came, and they needed women to fight so now serving the nation meant something different, and Chiyo became a full fledged 'shinobi' and turned her healing towards poison and death- especially when she had to fight the Salamander.
Then she sealed Gaara and that was the atrocity straw that broke the camel's back and she dipped out Suna and retired to an oasis. She's still a healer, but adamantly refuses to serve shinobi.
Once again, thank you so much for these asks and all the support for this AU?

I was thinking more about how Yokai life stages are so different from ours and what kind of effect that would have on everything else. Like, if we assume their life cycles is similar to that of a human, just on a much longer scale, then a Yokai could be in their 'child-bearing years' for literally centuries. (I mean, it all depends on the Yokai and the life cycle of their source DNA and how much they inherited from that, but assuming most of them are more human-like) And their kids do take slightly longer to mature, but not by that much.
I've already figured that there's much less of a push to get people having babies as soon as they can-they've got so much time, and especially since Yokai are generally healthier and less susceptible to disease they're expecting most of those kids to survive to adulthood. That would just be a lot of babies, and rapid population growth would really put a strain on resources. So even though Yokai are legal adults at 20 and probably reach sexual maturity around the same time as humans, having kids before you're a century old is considered super early. Like, Bella is 45, and she would practically be considered a teen mother if she had a kid now. "You're not even fifty yet, oh my god, you haven't lived! You need time on your own to figure out who you are!" (ironically, there are kids she went to school with who are grandparents now)
But anyway, considering the baby-having window is so wide and Yokai kids don't take that long to grow up, I feel like it would be the norm to have one, maybe two kids and then raise them to adulthood before having the next. That way you're not splitting your attention between a bunch of kids and can devote all your energy and resources into the one you're working on right now. Then once the kid is a young adult and doesn't really need to be actively parented anymore, then they can move onto the next one.
This also makes Draxum's decision to mutate and raise four mutant children at once even more unhinged.

While I'm on the topic lmao I've only dabbled in ff7 before, but recently I'm getting more into the fandom side and like... I was expecting zelda but technogrunge (most of my ff knowledge is from ff15) and it's actually a lot more bloodborne-esque than I thought.
Like I knew about the human experimentation and genocides but like... Wow.

First Aid, don't you think this has become the "Sunnyside" show?
Arcee- Hey First Aid, did you give your camera to Dumb and Dumber yesterday?
First Aid- Yeah, why?
Arcee- Figures. This anon is asking if this is more the SunnySides show now.
First Aid- It was my idea to start the blog, but its for all of us. As long as the adults don't find out its cool.
Arcee- Yeye. We were also pretty busy yesterday!
First Aid- If you call ditching class busy, then yeah.
Arcee- You and Springer were ditching class, I was present.
First Aid- What did Chromia and Ironhide say?
Arcee- Oh! Chromia said that Springer will have to shoot 10 perfect bullseyes and you have to clean the guns.
First Aid- Hehe, worth it.
Arcee- What did you two do yesterday anyway?
First Aid- Snuck out to the city, ran around in our holoforms.
Arcee- What?? No fair! Take me with you guys next time!
First Aid- Sure, but only if you help us distract who ever's on guard duty next time we sneak out.
Arcee- Deal!

my hometown got a huge influx of venezuelans due to the current crisis in venezuela - they're part of the 5million living in brazil atm. we had previously welcomed a lot of haitians immigrants after the natural disasters of haiti as well years ago
as a preface: i have always been pro immigration and i have never thought that people don't deserve the right to escape a bad home life to try and make it better for themselves etc
along with the haitian + venezuelan immigration, my hometown and west region of my home state has also been bringing people from the northeast under the guise of "we need workers" to run the factory farming butchering plants (big for pigs and chickens in the area)
which is just a flat out lie. we dont need more people - there is plenty of people willing to work. what the companies need is people willing to work for pennies (even for a couple of months) so they go to a far region, make absurd promises about wages and housing opportunities and growth, bring the people here. they get here -> realize how the COL is crazy high due to multiple factors -> racism & xenophobia -> difficulty adapting to the weather (northeast is hot, south gets cold) -> things unravel
and by things unravel i mean:
1) working on a butchering plant is extremely dangerous and has many health risks. if these works get injured temporally or permanently that will put an even bigger strain on the local health care system & public retirement funds
2) cultural differences make it difficult for these workers to integrate, leading to feelings of isolation, displacement, anger, sadness etc
3) the companies are making bank on their underpaid labor meanwhile the city's - that is already stretched thin - public services drop substantially in quality because they cannot keep up with the demand, they did not and do not plan for this. healthcare, schools, transportation, housing, security are just a few of the areas that are going downhill
4) the companies bring the men -> the men save up and bring their families -> what was originally one person becomes 4-6 and the strain on public funds get even bigger
now, i personally know this is NOT the immigrants & emigrants fault. i get this. the average joe however does not see the bigger picture of how the companies are bringing people over dumping them there and then abandoning them by their own luck which causes a myriad of issues
my bff irl is a labor lawyer and he has told me first hand the companies are promising fucking houses. like. it's completely absurd. and they keep getting away with this!
there is plenty of work, but the work available is back breaking and underpaid. local citizens don't submit to that. desperate migrants do. leading to: drop in wages -> rise in COL -> unsatisfaction of local population rises -> far right ideas gets propagated even further
it's such a deep, complex issue, in which government & companies work together to fuck the citizens over who then turn against immigrants

Adults who don't have kids interacting with kids in public, including online: I am begging you to understand that healthy child development involves adults informing children of what risks exist with a thing they're about to do and then allowing them to take those risks within reason and get hurt sometimes
Kids are human beings who can largely handle themselves when given the tools - they're pretty vulnerable compared to adults, which is why most adults have Protection Instincts around kids, but the healthy way to engage those instincts is not to disallow children from doing shit. In fact, disallowing children from doing shit tends to make a person under-confident or knee-jerk defiant and secretive. If you channel your Protective Instinct into giving kids tools to mitigate risks they wanna take & handle negative consequences from those risks, kids are more likely to become People Who Can Handle Their Shit, and they're more likely to trust you when something is actually serious enough that they shouldn't engage.
This goes for everything from physical risk-taking like climbing shit or handling sharp things to engaging in intense media. Oftentimes I see adults mis-estimate the age at which a kid can safely engage with a thing! I work in a program where we regularly teach whittling to kids as young as 5, meaning we are handing 5-year-olds sharp knives, but we also give them guidelines for avoiding cutting themselves & teach them about first aid so that if they do get cut, they know why we're doing the first aid we do & how they could do the same in a situation where we aren't there. When it comes to media, this looks more like teaching emotional intelligence - teaching kids to recognize their own feelings & that it's okay to disengage if something is too intense for them. If you give them the tools to do so, kids will self-regulate: they will disengage from media too gory or sexual for them just like they'll avoid climbing further up a tree than they can get back down. If they do fall or get stuck or see something that was Too Much for them, it's your job to help them heal from the bad experience, both because they need the immediate help and to show them people will care about them.
Your job is not to keep them from climbing trees, it's to teach them how to climb safely and recognize their own limits.
