MOTA Masterlist!
John skipped through the fire department a pink box of donuts in his hand. Most people would probably ask whatâs got you in a good mood? But no one batted an eye at John, because this is just how he carries himself all the time, aspiring to put a smile on all his crew's faces. Today it would be with donuts tomorrow it might be dad jokes.
âMorning, Bucky.â Curt wiped his hands on his pants and took the powdered sugar donut out of the box, âChicks got a probie in the office. Told me to send you in when you got here.â
âSounds good,â John nods, heading up the metal, red steps and going into Chicks office. A brown haired man sitting on the opposite side of Chick, his eyes wide with excitement. Fresh out of the academy and ready for some real action.
âMorning chief, donut?â John held the box out.
âYes please, thank you, Captain. John, this is Captain Egan. One of the finest firefighters CFD has ever seen.â
âWeâve got another John?â He raised an eyebrow leaning over slightly to see the file on Chicks desk, âJohn Brady, how do you like Brady?â
âIâŠuh.â
âCome on, Brady, wouldnât wanna be late for the morning stretch circle.â John called, bouncing down the steps, Brady scattering after him, âGuys this is our new probie, Brady.â
âFresh blood, huh?â Dougie leaned on the fire truck
âThis is Dougie andâŠâ John looked around for a moment, âWhereâs your Missus?â
âI ainât anyone's missus,â the lengthy blonde came from around the front of the truck, eyeing up Brady.
âAnd this is Howard but everyone calls him Hambone, maple long john for you.â John plucked the donut out of the box and handed it to the blonde, âIâm putting Brady with you guys today, so please be nice to himâŠBrady, good luck with the hazing.â
âYouâre ours now, pretty boy.â Dougie put a strong hand onto his shoulder, shaking him lightly.
âCome on stretch time, boys.â Curt clasped his hands together grabbing the attention of everyone, quickly being overshadowed by the loud siren that began to ring, âNevermind.â
âSuit up, Brady!â John clapped him on the back, offering a small crack of a smile.
â---------
Galeâs all too familiar with the sounds of too many voices all at once on top of the constant voices on the intercom paging doctors, the occasional groan, the clacking on keyboards. The sound of the Casper, Wyoming ER became nothing but white noise for him, âgood morning, doctor.â Rosie stood against the counter in the breakroom. His words okayest doctor thermos in hand, a small smile on his lips.
âMorning, doctor.â Gale opened his locker, âHowâre you this morning?â
âDoing just fine.â
âSo I take it the date went well?â
âOh, how did it go?â Croz pushed open the break room door, his stuffed to the brim tote bag over his shoulder eyebrows wide with curiosity.
âIt was fine guys, but I donât kiss and tell.â Rosie put his hands up in defense. Croz and Gale had been trying to crack the code into Rosies love life since late med school when they met Croz during their residencies. But he kept it a secret from them and wasnât budging still.
âYouâre no fun, Rosie, who else are me and Gale supposed to gossip about?â
âLinda from HR. No, Iâm kidding, gossip about me wouldnât be very much fun anyways, but he did meet Freddie last night.â Rosie glanced at the two of them as he walked towards the door.
âOooooh,â Gale snickered, getting to meet Freddy was a big deal. Rosie didnât let just anyone meet his elderly deaf cat with separation anxiety.
âSorry I gotta get back to it,â Rosie put his hand on the door handle shooting them a wink.
âIâm glad heâs found a guy, this was theirâŠfourth date I think he mentioned the other day?â Gale and Rosie had met their freshman year of college since they were roommates. Then they just never separated and lived together all the way up until John asked Gale to move in with him.
âMe too,â Croz sighed, putting his bag away, âHow was Deliaâs game yesterday?â
âGreat! She almost had a home run, but they did win, six to five!â
âSorry, we couldnât make it, Junie got sent home from the day camp yesterday with a fever.â Gale knew Croz and his husband Bubbles kept very busy with their four kids.
Hell, Gale only had two kids and they kept very busy.
âThatâs alright, how high was the fever?â
âHundred and one I think she sweated it out last night. She was drippinâ this morning when I woke her up.â
âHopefully it passes fast. It makes me so sad when the girls are sick.â
âMe too, hopefully we can contain her germs to herself and we donât have a house outbreak.â Croz rubbed his eyes with the heels of his hands. The last thing any of them needed was a Crosby family sick outbreak that could possibly spread.
âââââââ
Brady squeezed the excess water out of the sponge and back into the bucket of soapy water. Pressing the sponge back into the truck. After the call John had asked Ham, Dougie, and himself to wash the truck. But the other two had long since abandoned ship , leaving him by himself.
âDougie and Ham ditch you?â
âJesus,â Brady put a hand out on the truck turning to see John with that same smirk from earlier on his face. Bending down he grabbed the other sponge out of the bucket.
âCurt used to do the same shit to me. I promise theyâll like you, they do this to everyone.â
âHow long did Curt, yâknowâŠ? Harass you for being the new guy?â Brady scratched the back of his neck with his free hand.
âOh I donât know, I think a good month, till I saved his ass from a burning building.â
âOh.â
âHow old are you, kid?â
âTwenty four, sir.â
âWell youâre aging me specially with the sir, no need for this sir and captain bullshit. Just call me Bucky, everyone else does.â
âOkay, captâŠBucky.â A moment of silence passed between the two of them. Brady just hoped he was doing everything right like he had been taught in the academy.
âGot a special someone in your life?â
âOh, uh, no. I havenât met the right one yetâŠthere weren't a lot of options in Sundance. Thought Iâd have a better shot since I play for both teams.â Brady chuckled dryly hoping he wouldnât be ostracized for his sexuality here.
âAmen to that one! I thought Iâd be single for the rest of my life, till I met my husband.â
âHow long have you guys been married?â
âWe actually just celebrated our tenth anniversary last week.â John snickered.
âWell congratulations, do you have any kids?â
âYeah, weâve got two girls. My oldest will be 13 next week and our youngest is seven.â
Brady felt a hole of anxiety in his chest begin to fill itself back in knowing there was at least another lgbt member in the firehouse. He kept it to himself at first in the academy, he didnât want a stigma to follow him.
Brady picked his head up at the sound of a dog barking, meeting the sight of a white and light gray husky in a service dog vest dashing towards John. âOh hello there, Meatball!â John scratched the husky behind his ear, âThis is Meatball, the hundredths mascot and staple.â
âIs this the new probie?â
âYep,â John clasped a hand on Bradyâs shoulder squeezing gently, âBrady, this is our driver engineer Benny Demarco, heâs Meatball's other half.â
âIâm not married to him, I promise.â
âDid you look into the tax benefits for it?â John asked, tilting his head and putting his hands on his hips.
âNice meeting you, Brady.â He held out his hand for him to shake.
âNice meeting you, I look forward to working with you.â Brady shook his hand, his grip tight and firm.
âCome on Meatball,â Demarco headed up the steps to Chicks office, the husky behind him.
âSo,â
âHm?â Bradyâs eyebrow raised.
âMe and Benny are good friends, but he wonât tell us a thing about this person heâs seeing. If you can figure anything out let me and Curtie know.â John squeezed Bradyâs shoulder again delivering a small shake.
So John is chronically nosy?
âââââââââââ
âFancy seeing you here, we gotta stop running into each other like this.â Curt leaned against the open door of the ambulance.
âHey, Curtie.â Ken looked up from where he was writing down his report, âDid you ask Bucky if we're still coming over for dinner?â
âYes we are.â
âAwesome, I felt bad we had to leave right after the game.â Ken set his clipboard down standing up taking Curtâs hand then jumping out of the back of the ambulance.
âYeah, the girls were all excited. I'm bringing them popsicles to Friday's practice, today we gotta lock in on fielding.â Ken smiled while watching Curt talk with his hands. He loved getting to coach Cordeliaâs rec league softball team. Curt also stayed busy playing on the firehouses softball league Bucky coached. He didnât play anymore only because he tore his ACL a few years back.
âI know I was so proud of them! You tell them I said that.â Ken placed his hand on Curtâs chest, âYouâve been working out?â
âSure have sugar,â Curt pulled him in by the belt loops. He could stare at Curt all day and make this his full time job. Curt moved in with Ken a couple months ago and things had been going pretty well.
âCurt, what are you doing?â John furrowed his eyebrows coming around the truck.
âI was just saying hello to the wife,â Curt kissed Kenâs cheek, âSee you at home, Kenny.â
âBye Curtie, bye John.â Ken waved and shut the back doors of the ambulance.
âI saw you and Buck making out against one of the trucks the other day. So you got nothinâ on me, Johnny.â Curt shook his head walking after him.
âYou know too much about me for me to become an enemy of Curtis Biddick. I was just coming to tell you we were leaving.â
It was true, when John dropped out of college halfway through his second year. He got in his car and started driving. He got to the Wisconsin/Minnesota border and decided to just keep going. Drove all the way to Casper, Wyoming in two days, decided to stop for a drink and then never looked back.
âI donât want you as an enemy,â Curt shrugged his jacket back on as they got back to the truck.
âGood, because then I would have to kill you.â The two of them climbed back in the truck, âHowâre you liking it, Brady?â
âI like it sir- uh, Bucky.â He cleared his throat and clasped his hands together looking down.
âLoosen up kid, Iâm glad you like it.â John sat across from him.
âYouâve been doinâ a just fine job. I know youâll fit right in.â Curt had seen a dozen or so of guys through their probie phases at the firehouse. He did in fact haze John after he convinced him to join the academy. John and Curt both saw Dougie and Ham through their probie period together. Brady seemed like a good kid and determined to become the best firefighter he can be.
ââââââââ
Gale: Iâm on lunch, just thought Iâd check in if you or Flynn needed anything from the store. If you make anything please clean it up so I donât have to clean before making dinner. đ€đ€
Cordelia: ok
Gale sighed, setting his phone back on the breakroom table stabbing a crispy piece of lettuce out of his salad. âI donât like this tweenage thing.â
âDelia?â Rosie hummed through his bite of sandwich
âYeah the other day she looked at me like I killed her cats because I asked her to help me pick up dinner.â Gale rubbed the bridge of his nose. He and John both had been coming to terms that Cordelia did not in fact hate them. She just wasnât their little girl anymore and wanted more independence and they could respect that.
âHas the attitude started yet?â Croz could probably offer the best advice out of any of them. Their oldest was a couple years older than Cordelia, âThe first time Astrid actually raised their voice at us we were so distraught.â
âA little bit,â Gale sat back in his seat rubbing at the gold band on his finger, âIâm beginning to think about bringing back timeouts for her too.â
âSometimes itâs better to let them cool off in their room. I remember this age, hormones flying, your body changing, everything seems like the biggest deal of your life.â Croz definitely had the most confidence in his parenting out of the group. But I guess you do probably have to carry confidence with your words when you have four kids to wrangle around.
âI told my parents to shut up one time at that ageâŠit did not go over well.â Gale could imagine a younger Rosie telling that to Mama Rosenthal. Followed by her most certainly chewing him out in Yiddish and sending him to his room.
Itâs not that Gale is insecure about his parenting, it's that he doesnât want to be like his father. He wasnât like his father at all. Itâs the one thing Gale brought up when they first talked about kids, âJohn, what if I turn into him?â âThatâs not going to happen. Youâre nothing like him, Gale.â John was right, Gale wasnât his father. The apple didnât even fall from that tree.
âItâs at least a little nice to hear that this is at least some right of passage event.â Gale cleared his throat. He didnât really get a chance to have that, he grew up at far too young of an age. He had spent his entire childhood taking care of his father and avoiding the swinging hands that came at him. The rundown apartment in northern Casper, the cigarette burned couch with the cans and bottles littering any surface available. He knew his only way out and he took it and ran.
Now he had his own family, he had his firehouse family from John's side and he had Rosie and Croz from his side. He had to remind himself, he in fact is doing better than he ever thought he would.
ââââââââ
Thereâs a lot of things that are staples in the Cleven household. but the one that never missed was the barking every time someone was at the door. Scooby would jump up his loud howl carrying alerting Chili that maybe he needs to start barking too; although, his didnât carry the same way Scoobys did.
âGuys!â Gale scolded the dogs from the kitchen.
âItâs us,â Ken sang as they came inside toeing off his shoes. His prized Apple pie in his hands, Curt not far behind him, âHi Scooby.â
âUncle Curt!â Flynn came flying out of the kitchen and jumped into his arms.
âHey, Flynn.â Curt spun her around, âHow was your ball game?â
âGood! I got a couple good hits! Papa said we could practice tomorrow.â Flynn quite literally fell from the John Egan tree though. Not only did she have the same blue eyes and dark brown curls but the same sass and humor. Oh yeah, and the lifelong passion for baseball but âspecifically the yankeesâ.
âIâll see if I have time to stop over and I can toss you some balls. Sounds good?â
âYes! Youâre the best Curt.â Flynn wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tight.
âNo youâre the best, Flynn. Why donât we go help your dads set the table?â
Flynn nodded, Curt setting her down and she took off for the dining room attached to the kitchen.
âDelia, why donât you take Ken with you to grab some drinks.â Gale nudged her from across the kitchen island.
âOkay,â she rolled her eyes with that sharp tone in her voice.
âI donât like that attitude,â John popped his hip out resting his hands on his hips.
âI donât like your attitude, Pa.â
Gale looked between the two of them having their nightly âdrama queen competitionâ as Flynn called it. Cordelia let out an irritated grunt stomping to the connecting door to the garage.
âTeenagers are fun,â Curt snickered.
Ken sat on the steps next to the fridge in the garage while Cordelia dug out the last can of Arnold Palmers for Curt.
âIs everything going alright, hun?â
âYeah, itâs just, everything feels likeâŠI donât even know.â She handed the can of tea to Ken and shut the fridge door sitting back on her knees.
âThatâs part of growing up, unfortunately. Do you wanna talk about anything?â At those words Cordelia looked down at her hands bashfully, a small smirk that resembled Gales following.
âWell, okay but you canât tell dad and Pa.â
âDeal,â Ken rested his head in his hands.
âThereâs this girl on my team, her name is Mel.â
âDoes Curt know?â Ken interrupted her momentarily.
âNo, we just started talking last week. Sheâs staying over with some of my other friends on Saturday.â
âI hope you have fun. But make good decisions,â Ken picked up the drinks off the steps next to him.
âDonât worry, we havenât even held hands yet. I canât tell if pa would be upset that Iâm dating or start crying?â
Ken let out a small chuckle, there's a good chance both could happen. Curt told him that when Cordelia had taken her first steps John broke down crying. He also cried when she turned one, he wasnât ready for his little girl to be in such a rush to grow up still.
â-----------
John let out a loud yawn stretching his arms above his head, his shirt coming up just slightly. Gale leaned over, poking his stomach softly sending John into a loud laugh falling onto the bed right on top of Gale. âDid you have a good day at work?â Gale felt his cheeks heat red him and John were nose to nose.
âYeah, we have a new probie at the station. Seems like a good kid. How about yours, Doctor Cleven â John smiled because he knew exactly how to get Gale all flustered.
âWell, Captain Egan, I did have a good day. Today I found out Rosie went on a fourth date with that guy and he brought him to his apartment and let him meet Freddie.â He was pleased with himself that John's cheeks were now flush and he looked down slightly, just from calling him captain.
âOoooh, do you know his name?.â John rolled off of him climbing under the blankets. He loved some good, who's dating who gossip? Someday he could be just as bad as Cordelia.
âNo, thatâs all heâs told us. We should find a time to go out and tell Rosie to bring him.â
âGood god, Buck. Youâre just as bad as me and Delia!â Wrapping his arms around Gale he pulled him into his chest.
âExposure therapy,â Buck giggles, turning his head to meet John's sparkly eyes. They laid there for a moment just basking in the energy of an amazing sixteen years together.
âCan you believe weâve been married for ten years?â John rested his chin on Gale's shoulder, âTogether for 16.â
âI know itâs gone so fast.â Gale tangled his hands into Johnâs pressing his back into Johnâs warmth.
âNext thing we know itâs going to be our 60th anniversary and Delia and Flynn are going to put us in a home.â
âDon't remind me,â Gale sighed, tipping his head back against John.
âAt least weâre a long way from retirement?â John kissed Gales neck, truthfully heâd work forever if thatâs what it took to keep this little life. He couldnât imagine anything better than this, he was married to the absolute love of his life, âWell, maybe we should use my sexy firefighter body to our advantage.â
Gale mentally rolled his eyes with a smile on his face, Johnâs cheesy flirting never getting old. âI think thatâs an excellent idea.â
ââââââ

Mentions of being trapped in burning building
I want to do something with Firefighter!Soap and Librarian!Reader, like you were trapped in the library when it went up in flames, too worried about making sure everyone got to the exit and now you're stuck among the fire, shelves of burning books making you collapse to the ground, but also making your stomach sink from all the lost books...
You pass out from smoke inhalation not long after that, but you come to a short while later, staring at the rubble on the ground as someone carries you from the building, a wide, gloved hand holding you over their shoulder by the small of your back. You hear yelling, and soon you can tell that you've been dragged outside, although your consciousness is teetering on the edge of passing out again.
"Tha's the last one, Cap!" A Scottish accent cries out - you feel yourself being lowered to the ground, soft grass underneath you feeling like a cool cloud compared to the harsh, hot air in the burning library.
"Ye breathin', lass?"
You blink blearily at him, nodding your head. You're coughing your lungs out, but you're breathing.
"Gettin' some oxygen for ye now, princess, jus' take it easy." He rasps - he takes his oxygen mask off and carefully places it over your face. The air flows in, cool and crisp, and your lungs tingle from the pure air.
You look up at him - your vision is blurry without your glasses, but you're able to make out some of his features. Overgrown mohawk, bright, dazzling smile... a bit of a shadow over his chin... he's got the shoulders of a Greek, chiseled masterpiece - broad and firm. You're staring at an angel, the one who pulled you from your death.
"Not leavin' ye, Bonnie." He says, cupping the side of your face. "Not 'til the paramedics get ye. Jus' stay awake for me, aye?"
You're not sure if it's because of the smoke, or because he's knocked you off of your feet, but you promptly pass out on the grass.

Firefighter!Simon Riley X Reader - Cherry Danish
Simon wasn't the talkative type. He was quiet, kept mostly to himself and rarely socialized with the rest of the crew. Save for Johnny.Â
Johnny was as close to a friend as Simon could imagine someone being to him. Johnny always tried to talk to him, tell a few jokes to make him laugh, anything to crack that shell. Heâd gotten close so many times but could never quite get there.Â
However, when Simon returned from Rileyâs morning walks, he always seemed a little different. Simon would have a soft look in his eyes, something warm Johnny had never seen before. He swore his lieutenant almost looked happy, if he was even capable of being happyâŠ
One morning, Johnny caught Simon returning with Riley early in the morning, a little paper bag from the local bakery in his grasp. He had that warm look in his eyes again.
âAye, LT,â Johnny called out. âYe hev a good craic walking thâ pooch?â
As soon as Simon looks his way, Johnny can see his gaze turn stoney again, his grip on the paperbag tighten just slightly. âDunno what youâre talking âbout Johnny,â he grumbled.Â
Simon unhooked Rileyâs leash, letting the Shepherd run loose in the station. He set himself down on the too-old couch in the common room and fished out his breakfast, a cherry danish. He found his thoughts briefly wandering to the little thing that handed it to him with that warm smile they always wore.Â
âDinnae take ye fer sweets, Si,â Johnny teased, settling next to him as Simon pulled down his mask to eat. âYe bring me anyfing?âÂ
âNo,â Simon answered bluntly as he ate.Â
âYe cruel bastard,â Johnny feigned his hurt as he dramatically dropped himself against the back of the couch.
âToo bad,â Simon growled.Â
A smirk crossed Johnnyâs lips. âPerhaps are shuid pay thâ bakery a visit,â he said, stroking over the stubble on his chin. âSee what all thâ fuss is aboot.â He laughed as he felt Simon turn a sharp glare towards him.

theyâd be lying if they said they didnât feel bad when they finally unlocked the door to their apartment and found you curled up on the couch, fast asleep. fridays were meant to be movie and pizza night, they were always movie and pizza night â starting at 6pm and ending whenever the hell youâd all fall asleep. it was your favourite part of the week and they knew it.
john b tries to shut the door quietly, but the sound makes you stir anyway â jj quickly kneeling his exhausted body down beside the couch to give your cheek an affectionate rub.
âhowdy sleepyhead, think you got lost on the way to your bed.â he smiles guiltily, hoping youâd be tired enough to forget the plans theyâd missed out on.

Thinking about Firefighter!Price.
Imagine him coming home after a long, exhausting day of working, keys jingling as he unlocks the door at some ungodly hour of the night, footsteps falling heavy against the floor as he walks inside, exhaustion and fatigue lingering along his form.
He's still dressed in his station wear - a fitted, navy blue t-shirt with Station 141's logo printed onto the front of it, small, right on the right side of his chest, and a pair of trousers in the same color to match, hanging loosely onto him.
He should take a shower, he knows he should. He smells of sweat and sulfur, the scents clinging to his clothes and skin like a second skin, and he know that the two of you'll have to wash the bedding come morning.
But god, the sight of you in bed, dressed in a loose pair of your own shorts and one of his spare shirts, face smushed against one of the pillows as your breathing comes slow, in and out, steady - it's far too enticing to pass up so easily.
So he unbuckles his belt in a daze, stripping off his shirt, undershirt and trouser, tossing the articles haphazardly onto the floor (he tries to toss them towards the hamper, but he knows he misses, given the way his belt buckle clanks loudly against the hardwood floor of the bedroom, but, honestly, he could care less).
And he gets right into bed beside you, fingers grazing lightly over the exposed skin of your thighs, traversing upwards, fingers splayed as his palm travels over the fabric of your shorts, sneaking their way under the loose shirt of his that you wear, hand pressing against your tummy as he pulls you close.
He presses his nose into your shoulder, eyes fluttering closed as he deeply inhales the scent of your body wash, softly shushing you as you start to rouse, the way your body gently begins to shuffle as you let out the softest, sleepiest yawn, listening as he grumbles softly against your skin.
"Didn't mean to wake you, love. Go back to sleep."
His voice is so hoarse, so strained and rough from the events of the day - yelling and barking out commands to the firefighters within the ladder and engine crews that he guides - but, at the same time, it's runs smooth like honey, settling just right in your sleepy, hazy mind.
He hugs you tighter, pressing your back flush against his chest as he curls his body around you in a subtly protective manner, littering tender kisses against your neck, trying to coax you back to sleep as he lets out a soft sigh, infatuated with the way your body molds perfectly into his.
"Mmm... s'fine, John. Wha... what time s'it?"
"None of your business, that's what time. Go back to sleep. I'll be here in the mornin'... promise you that. Okay?"
He doesn't let you ask your questions. If you try to think, he knows you'll wake up, and he already feels guilty about waking you up in the first place, so he doesn't even entertain your sleepy question, giving you a promise - two, technically. That he's here now and that it'll stay that way until the two of you wake up in the dawn.
"Stubborn..."
"Always. We c'n talk in the mornin'. Sleep."
"Mmm... glad you're back home safe. Love you."
"Love you, too."
But by the time he says the words, you've already fallen back asleep, and a deep, rumbling chuckle erupts from within his chest, amused, pressing one last kiss to the corner of your jaw before letting himself fall asleep behind you, his breaths, his heartbeat falling into sync with your own.

Firefighter Ghost Blurb 2
Part 1
Firefigher Simon "Ghost" Riley who didn't think he'd ever mess up a team training exercise until he's falling from the scaffolding to the safety mats below because his boot missed a rung when he saw your face smiling at them from your second story window. Soap is gaping down from the top of the obstacle course in disbelief because LIEUTENANT SIMON RILEY just fumbled so hard he actually fell, he never thought he'd ever see that happen. Gaz is still in position to start once Ghost made it to the top joining Soap but is now trying very hard not to laugh outloud so his face is buried in his arms and his shoulder are trembling slightly. Price has his clipboard to his forehead in exasperation because how would they even make it to regionals for the upcoming yearly firefighter team obstacle course competition if they were messing up in practice like this. Simon has never been more thankful for his mask because he's more red than the firetrucks in the station now that he knows you saw what just happened. He can see you giggling in your window from where he lies splayed out on the mats and he thinks that if he gets to see you laugh like this more often he wouldn't mind falling again.Â
You find out that they've been training to compete next month when you bring today's taco tuesday dinner over to them. The recipe seemed to call for a bit too much spice and you get to witness Soap choke and splutter while Gaz brings the table more water. Simon muses that it can't be that bad and that Soap's just a wimp until he takes a bit as feels like someone lit his mouth on fire. Price jokes and tells you it's a good punishment for them for messing up training today. When Soap recovers from his coughing fit he asks if you'll come watch them compete and Simon wants to strangle him because he knows that Soap knows exactly what he's doing the cheeky little bastard. He's going have to discuss upping the level of training with Price after this because if you're coming there's no way in hell he's going to let 141 place anything but first place. They're going to nationals and thatâs final. It's now non-negotiable.Â
You tell him as he walks you back across the street to your house after dinner that you're thrilled to watch them compete and that you think he looks particularly handsome when hes moving. A week later he brings you a sweatshirt that matches theirs that says 141's honorary member, Hearth, and when you ask his why Hearth he says they all agreed that you remind them of Hestia the goddess of the hearth. You're hospitable and always by the fire stations side. Someone that takes care of them all. You make him whatâs possibly the best shepardâs pie heâs ever had the next day.

i watched all of 9-1-1 and now all I can think of is firefighter price and the station is having a little bake sale or something for charity and single mom reader takes her kid to it and she meets price and it's all fluffy and flirty đđŁ bonus points if its she's a bit younger than him.... that's all I can think of rn......
ahhh! i've been thinking about this ask since i got it - but i'm literally kicking my feet. when my brother was a volunteer firefighter i used to love the pancake breakfasts so i'm using that as inspo hehe
eagerly pulling you in the direction of the firehouse, the 6-year-old held your hand tightly. despite the earlier hours of the morning, the summer sun starting to build the warmth on your skin. other families scattered in the parking lot as everyone made their way towards the fire station.
had it not been for the the flyer your son took from volunteer firefighters a few days prior outside the grocery store, you would have had no knowledge of the pancake breakfast to raise money for charity. but, you were sure the charity part isn't what drew your child towards the event. it was more so the pancakes and other activities such as face painting and getting to sit in the firetruck being the aspects that appealed to him. excitedly he had attempted to read the flyer to you as you pushed him around the grocery store in the cart. and by the time you were done food shopping, you had promised him that you would take him.
"do you think i'll be able to try on one of the jackets?" his voice projected from the backseat of the car as you drove.
"the jackets are quite heavy, sweetie. maybe they'll let you try on one of that hats." your eyes glance back at him in the rearview mirror. a smile formed on his face at your answer.
"i hope so. that would be so cool," was all he said before his eyes glanced out the window, brain running ramped with excitement.
besides, between the charity aspect and the excitement your son exuded for the first time since the two of you moved into town, it seemed like a good way for him to meet other kids before the school year started.
and now, the day had come that he wouldn't stop talking about for the past week. the money in his hand to give to one of the wives sat at a table collecting the donations for entry. reaching over the table, he handed her the money and in return, she put on the appropriate wristband for him and handed you one as well.
his hand grabbed yours, quickly heading for the row of tables that multiple firefighters stood behind, putting pancakes on the plates of individuals of various ages and anything else they wanted such as eggs, bacon, etc.
grabbing plates for both you and your son, you allowed him to guide you to one fireman who was the least busiest with people. and before the word 'hello' left your sons mouth, the first string of words were, "chocolate chip, please."
"elliot," your eyes widened, giving his hand a squeeze as a warning. "manners." your sons cheek reddened, clearly embarrassed.
the mans upper body vibrated from the chuckle that escaped his lips as he watched your horrified expression. "lad is just excited. don't worry about it, big sister." before you could correct him, elliot's voice cut you off.
"hello," his voice quieter in comparison to his louder demeanor. "two chocolate chip, please, sir." he carefully took the place from you and handed it to the fireman himself.
placing three chocolate chip pancakes on the plate, he handed it back to your son. "there ya go, i gave you an extra." the man smiled at your son which caused your son to give him a toothy smile back.
"thank you." elliot spoke, his voice back to his normal octave. "i'm gonna go sit." your son says, hurriedly heading to an empty table to eat his pancakes. you watched as he ran off, before the gruff voice pulled your attention.
"what will his sister be having?" the fireman asked, reaching to take your plate. now, you took the chance to correct him.
"i'm not his sister."
his eyes widened this time. "mum?"
nodding to confirm his questioning tone, you smiled and let him take the plate from you. "i had him young." you felt the need to explain yourself.
"well," he placed three pancakes on your plate as well, handing it back to you. "regardless when you had him," his hands move wipe them on his shirt, and that's when you notice the 'hello my name is' sticker on his shirt below the stations logo - price. "definitely the prettiest mum here." one of his hands reaching out to shake yours.
the compliment caught you by surprise, nearly causing you to drop the plate as you freed a hand to shake his back.
"john price." the introduction making your body surge with warmth as his hand held yours, the same way the sun outside had made you feel. except right now you were very much inside and shielded from the summer heat.
also a little shoutout to @ohworm-writes who has a post on firefighter price which you can find here <3

imagining a firefighter calendar for my firefighter John and detective Gale au and giggling to myself
Gale just going absolutely nutty when he finds out John's doing smth like that, getting on the wait-list immediately and keeping it at his desk or smth.
what if it's one of those calendars where it's the genre "big buff man with small tiny kitten" and Gale doesn't even use the calendar properly, just flips periodically to the pics of John and stares dreamily at it. God Gale can't believe this hunk is all his what a big boy he's got (Gale loves when John picks him up over his shoulder but don't tell anyone)
Gale is so in love honestly it's stupid at this point

Firefighter!Simon Riley x Reader - Locked Out Pt. 2
Johnny drags you inside the station, ignoring the confused looks he gets from the other men inside. He walks you over to the oldest of them, a man with a beard sporting a hat, and introduces you.Â
âThis is oor captain, Price,â Johnny says, his arm still over your shoulder. âCap, bonnie âere lost their keys doon thâ drain. Can we giâ them a hand?â
âIâm sure Gary could get to them,â Price says, offering a warm smile and his hand to shake, which you do. âYou rest here mux.â He turned to the couch where a man with dark, curly hair sat. âKyle, keep our guest company, weâll be back.â He pats Johnny on the shoulder and the two leave to find Gary and retrieve your keys.Â
Kyle stands from the couch and walks over. Heâs handsome, pretty you think. He definitely knows it too as he catches you staring, giving you a smile. âHungry?â he asks.
---
Simon emerged from the showers, wearing only a pair of sweatpants, his damp towel slung over his broad shoulders as his blond hair was still dripping wet. The station house was quiet. Johnny must still be out walking Riley.Â
A quiet laugh broke that silence though. One that made his stony heart skip a beat. Simon made his way towards the common area, finding the one thing he never expected. You.Â
Kyle was sitting with one arm on the couch behind you, the other on his leg. You hadnât noticed Simon yet, too engrossed in Kyleâs story about the time Riley climbed into the open window of a cop car to get into a bag of treats the officer had hidden under his seat.
âSo Riley was hanging halfway out this copâs car, anâ Johnnyâs trying to get him out before the cop gets back,â Kyle said. âTurns out, the cop had a bag of treats in the car. Found out when Simon called Riley over. Rascal had the bag hanging out his mouth.âÂ
The sound of your laugh makes Simonâs heart race and he finds himself jealous of the way your fingers gently scratched behind Rileyâs ear as the dogâs head lays in your lap.Â
Simon canât help but stare. Heâd always known how pretty you were, but seeing you here in the station.. He only wished he was the one you were sitting with. That he was the one making you laugh so easily.Â
âBonnie! We got yer keys!â Johnny calls, coming up behind Simon.Â
Your head whips around, catching a glimpse of Simon as he turns on his heels and retreats deeper into the station.Â
---
In his room, Simonâs heart pounds in his chest. He runs a large hand through his blond hair, his mind racing. All heâd wanted these past few months was to know you better, though heâd never been able to bring himself to speak more than a few words to you. Never had he thought heâd see you in the firehouse, much less cozied up on their couch. What were you even doing here?Â
A knock on his door brought his answer. Simon quickly pulled on his privacy mask, some part of him hoping it was you. Instead he saw Johnny.Â
âAye, Si, did ye see we git a guest?â Johnny asked with that cheeky grin of his. Ah. That was it. Johnny brought you here.Â
âI saw..â Simon said, keeping his voice measured despite his urge to to tear Johnny in half for getting up the nerve to talk to you before he could.Â
âYe never told me thaâ wee thing wis so cuit,â Johnny pressed. âSâalready git Kyle wrapped âround their wee finger.â
Simonâs dark eyes sharpened. Johnny always knew just how to get under his thick skin.Â
âAm sure theyâd lek tâ see ye,â Johnny continued. âLooked a might fash when ye stormed off.â
âDidnât âave mâ mask,â Simon muttered. âWasnât expecting them..â
âAye, ha tâ git Gary tâ rescue their keys,â Johnny explained. His blue eyes briefly looked Simon up and down. âYâshould say âello. Am sure theyâd lek tâ see ye.â
Johnny was dense but he wasnât stupid. He knew Simon could get anyone he wanted, he had the looks to make just about anyone, including Johnny himself, melt. If only Simon had the confidence to actually talk to anyone.Â
When Simon didnât budge, Johnny decided to push further. âAye wis thinkân, LT,â he started. âI might ask âem oot fer coffee.â Johnny shrugged as he watched Simon tense.Â
Simon shoved past Johnny, making his way to the common area again. Leaving Johnny grinning at his door.
---
âCoffee.â
Simonâs gruff voice startles you. You hadnât seen him enter the room, much less hear him walk up behind where you were sitting on the couch.Â
You blink those pretty eyes up at him. âWhat?â
âWith me.â He doesnât seem to be asking by his tone, but his eyes are almost pleading.Â
âUh.. sure,â you say, unable to keep the smile from your lips.Â
The tension in Simonâs shoulders melted away. If he had a tail, it would be wagging.

FIREFIGHTER!JJ OMG (ËâżË) imagine like that one tiktok where the girlâs bathroom door handle breaks and sheâs stuck in the bathroom after a shower and has to call the fire department to let her out and jjâs the firefighter on the job. It would be the funniest most adorable meet-cute ever
so i canât stop thinking about jj and john b in the early stages of their fire fighter careers where theyâre pinned with all the low level jobs, not even allowed near a real fire until theyâve completed their training. until then, theyâre stuck with saving cats from trees and helping people who have locked themselves into rooms and houses etc. sometimes they drive their little company truck over to real fire emergency calls on their lunch break, sitting with their food and watching these men carry attractive women bridal style out of buildings and sigh saying stuff like âone day dude, thatâs gonna be us. just gotta keep climbinâ the ladder.â
they return to the office each evening to file out the days reports, much to the joy of the cute lil receptionist / administrator who completely fawns over them, calling them heroes and batting her lashes up at them <3
âyou know we donât actually uh⊠fight the fires, you know? not yet anyway.â john b lets you down easy, leaning against the desk as jj rifles through the reports making sure the two of them have everything to be able to do their job. you shrug happily anyway, unphased.
âoh i know! i just know how scary it can be when your cat gets stuck up a tree. its happened to me before! itâs an important job.â
and youâre so genuine n serious abt it they just think youâre the cutest thing ever <3

Smoke Eater - Epilogue
Pairing: Firefighter!Dean Winchester x F. ReaderÂ
Summary: Dean Winchester is the cocky, but well-respected Lieutenant at Firehouse 25. He leads by example, but heâs also known to break a few hearts. Heâs starting to crave something heâs never had, though. Something stable. Something real.Â
Thatâs when he meets you, on a truly terrible day, trapped in a rickety old elevator.
đ„ Series Masterlist
AN: We made it, friends. đ„č
Word Count: 2,800 Tags/Warnings: Fluff and feels, that is all.
Epilogue: âEasy as Pieâ
The week after the incident at Stull Storage, John, Sam, Dean, and Eileen sat down to a family dinner that you cooked in the brothersâ apartment. Aside from Eileen, all of you had injuries in one form or another (but even Samâs shiner was healing up nicely).Â
For dessert, you were a bit nervous as you brought out a freshly baked apple pie. Dean caught you mentally bracing yourself before you set it down on the table. He shot you a reassuring smile.
âLooks great,â he said.
Your returning smile was tentative as you divvied out the first piece. Dean was just a bit disappointed when you handed it to John. His eyes followed the plate.
You smiled more genuinely, and made sure the next generous piece you cut was for your boyfriend.
After everyone was served, you sat down with your own plate and encouraged them all to dig in. Forks hit the crumbly top and cinnamon apple filling, and there were collective hums of pleasure throughout the room.
You brightened and glanced over at the rest of the table. John looked contemplative. His fork rested on the plate for a moment.
He gave a rare smile. âThatâs some damn good pie.âÂ
Sam nodded. âFor sure.â
Dean looked over at you after heâd already demolished half of his serving. A smile spread across his face.
âBest slice of pie since I can remember,â he said, giving you a wink.
Both of you knew the weight of that review. It humbled you, making you blush.
You smiled and leaned over to press a kiss to his cheek, rough with stubble.
âI guess this recipeâs a keeper then,â you said.
He hummed in agreement. When he went in for a real kiss, it was sweet indeed.
From then on, you all spent the evening talking, eating, laughing, with you and Sam drinking wine and everyone else their beer. You updated them on Andréa and Benny, who were planning their trip to Greece in a few months.
"We should take a vacation," Dean pointed out, gesturing around the table. "All of us."
Sam raised his brows at his brother. "Oh yeah? Where would you wanna go?"
Dean thought about it for a moment. He glanced at you, and found you smiling.
"The beach," he said. "Somewhere warm and chill, with those fancy little umbrellas in your drink."
"Hmm...I like that," you said, as your smile grew. Tropical, relaxing, a warm sun on your face, and your boyfriend in some board shorts. You could definitely go for some of that.
"Sounds nice," Eileen agreed.
"I'll look into some destinations," Sam nodded. Dean nudged his brother's shoulder.
"One word, dude. Maui."
Sam snorted. "We can't afford Maui."
"Hey, you never know, man! Time to check out some Groupons."
"You can't get a Groupon to go to Hawaii," Sam said. His face was scrunched in what Dean liked to call, his "Know It All" face.
"Are you kidding me?" Dean shot back. "There's a friggin' Groupon for everything nowadays!"
Of course, that devolved into a familiar sibling argument that was only disrupted when John broke into the conversation. He admitted something shockingâthat he was taking some time off work, for the first time since he took his sons camping when they were kids. Sam and Dean teased the workaholic for finally "slowing down" in his old age, but it was all in good fun.
You and Eileen shared a knowing look. It all felt as close to family as youâd had in a long time.
And for Dean, it felt like he could breathe again. Heâd gotten a text shortly after dessertâfrom Cas.
Jo made it into the Police Academy. She starts training in a few weeks.
Deanâs lips quirked with a smile.
How do you know?
Iâll be instructing a couple of her classes. Firearm Safety and Weapons Training.
Dean nearly laughed.
Good luck, buddy. Try not to get your ass shot.
To which Cas replied:
My ass will be nowhere within range, I assure you.
Dean did chuckle at that. When you turned to him and asked what was so funny, he just shook his head and grabbed onto your hand on the table.
âNothinâ. Iâm good,â he said. He pressed your knuckles to his lips. âIâm real good.â
You smiled at that.
Later that night, Dean walked his father to the door while you and Sam were locked in a trivia game, and Eileen tried to play mediator between two very competitive nerds. Â
âDad,â Dean said.
John stopped with a hand on the door, turning back to his eldest.
Dean paused to gather his thoughts, but he eventually grasped his fatherâs arm and met his gaze.
âJust wanted to say thank you, for what you did for her,â he said, discreetly nodding at you. He kept his voice quiet. âYou protected her when I couldnât.â
John paused, seeming surprised. His brows furrowed as he shook his head.
âYou donât need to thank me for that, son,â he said.
ïżœïżœïżœYeah, I do,â Dean insisted. Heâd heard every bit of that conversation between John and Daniel in that warehouse. His father had been willing to lay down and die for you, not a momentâs hesitation.
Cas was right, Dean had realized. His father did have a line.
John let out a breath. âWhat matters is we made it here.â
Dean nodded, though he dimmed.
âYeah, came with one hell of a price tag.â
It still weighed heavily on him, what heâd had to do to end Daniel Savage. In the end, John had lied on his statement of the events. Heâd taken responsibility for grabbing Danielâs gun and shooting him between the eyes.
âItâs the only thing I can do to keep you out of this,â John had told his son. âShouldâve been my hand anyway.â
Dean appreciated what his dad had done to protect him from the law, and his career, but it still made him feel dirty. A strike to his integrity as a first responder, and as a man. That was something heâd just have to deal with, along with everything else.
John distracted him, however, by gripping his shoulder this time.
âYou saved my life, Dean,â he said. And with a hint of a smile, âItâs what youâre good at.â
Dean met his dadâs gaze. He wasnât quite able to smile back, but there was new warmth in his chest.
âOh,â said John, raising a finger. âBefore I forgetâŠâ
He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a silver engagement ring with a small stone. To Dean, it looked familiarâŠ
When it finally struck him what this was, he looked up at John in surprise. Dean glanced back to make sure you werenât looking before he tentatively took the ring.
âIs thisâŠMomâs?â he asked.
John nodded. âThe stoneâs nothing special. You might wanna get it reset. Sam already figured out his uhâŠsituation on his own. Maybe you want to find your own too.â
Dean knew what he meant. Sam had bought a ring last year, but he'd proposed to Eileen just a few days ago. They were already planning to get married a year from now, along with buying their first house together.
Dean examined the ring he held with a softer smile.
âNah, itâs perfect,â he said.
He didnât know yet if you two were ready for that step. A lot had happened in such a short amount of timeâŠbut he knew he wasnât going anywhere.
He had time to do things right with you.
A few months later, Deanâs medical leave ended. He was physician-approved for duty, psych evaluation and all. He showed up for his shift bright and early.
He entered the doors of Firehouse 25 to a host of his friends and makeshift family cheering, complete with cheesy streamers and an even cheesier cake that Meg held. On the top was scrawled: Good Job Cracking Your Head.
âA smoke eater returns to the house!â Benny remarked with a grin. âGood to see ya, brother.â
He clapped Dean heavily enough on the back that it earned a grunt and a laugh out of him.
âYou too, man,â Dean replied.
Meg set down the cake on the table and was the next one to playfully punch him in the shoulder.
âYou have a nice little vacation?â she teased.
Dean rolled his eyes. âYeah, complete with bottomless margaritas and little umbrellas.â
She smirked, but she was still earnest when she touched his arm.
âWelcome back.â
Dean chuckled. âOoh, now I know you missed me.â
It was her turn to roll her eyes as she waved a dismissive hand at him. Chuck and Jack gave more sincere well wishes, with the latter actually hugging Dean. Heâd tolerated it with a smile.
Gordon clapped him on the shoulder once Jack was finally done, and Dean sent the Candidate off with a bright smile on his face.
Gordon smiled. âWelcome back, Lieutenant.â
Dean nodded and shook the other manâs hand. âThanks for holdinâ down the fort, man.â
âNo problem,â Gordon said. âAny time you wanna go on sabbatical, you just let me know. Acting Lieutenantâs almost better than the real deal. Itâs not as much paperwork.â
Dean chuckled, but before he could sling back a retort, the alarm went off. There was a working house fire downtown, according to the dispatcher in the overhead speaker.
Bobby appeared in the hall and clapped his hands once.
âAll right, gear up. Weâre startinâ off the day right,â he said. He gave Dean a look that was somehow both pleased to see him and stern at the same time. Bobby addressed him with a point of his finger.
âSee me in my office before the end of shift,â he said. âWeâve got somethinâ to talk about.â
A few days later, Dean had the rare pleasure of welcoming you home from work on his day off. You trudged into the apartment with several bags and rolling a cooler behind you. He got up from the couch and grabbed some of the bags for you on your way to the kitchen.
âHow did it go?â he asked, reaching out a hand to rub some flour off your cheek. You smiled brightly.
âWell, there was a little snafu with the mini quiche, but they loved the menu I proposed. They want me to cater the whole wedding!â you said.
âWhoa, thatâs a lotta food,â Dean remarked. Once youâd dumped the rest of your stuff on the kitchen table, he slid an arm around your waist and brought you flush against him, earning a squeal from you.
You clung to his shoulders. âYou still on for being my official taste tester?â
He stared at you with mock offense.
âUh, obviously. Mini quiche are my weakness,â he teased. âJust another form of pie, far as Iâm concerned.â
You giggled into his lips as he claimed you for a kiss. It was both sweet, and a bit naughty as his hands moved to squeeze your ass. His words were no less heartfelt.
âIâm proud of you, sweetheart,â Dean said. âI really am.â
You smiled and stroked his cheek in answer.
The Monday morning after that family dinner a few months ago, youâd quit your job at Savage & Co. After a month of wracking your brain and your savings, you decided to start your own catering business.
It was your way of starting small, to try and get people in this town to know you for your food and baked goods. And maybe, if you were successful enough, youâd be able to open up your own bakery in a couple of years.
For once, you were going after what you truly wantedâŠbut now, your career was only part of it.
You hadnât forgotten your conversation with Dean about what he wanted for his future: of getting married someday, and having a family. Something he could build for himself.Â
Not only did you want that for him, but youâd begun to crave that for yourself as well: a family of your own.
Realistically, you knew that part was years away for you and Dean. However, you had that in the back of your mind. Having your own business had always been your dream, but sometimes your dream could adjust.Â
Or, it could become something new.
Youâd also sold your grandparentsâ house. You had contemplated going back, but you didnât want to be reminded of how the police and the Arson Department had torn it apart after Daniel Savage threatened your life. You didnât want to be reminded of where both of your grandparents died.
You loved that house, but you also knew it was time to let it goâŠ
Because you finally understood what your grandfather had tried to tell you months ago.
A house did not make a home. And now, youâd managed to make a new one.
For his part, Dean had been happy to have you stay in his apartment. Sam was getting ready to move out in a few months anyway, as he and Eileen were deep into house hunting and planning their wedding.
âSoâŠIâve gotta tell you something,â said Dean, after he parted from your lips for a moment, and allowed you to breathe. His tone made you tilt your head in suspicion.
âItâs nothing bad,â he said, though he looked a bit nervous.
Your brows furrowed. You led him to the couch, where he held your hands in his. It took him a moment to get started. He seemed stuck on what he wanted to say, or maybe just how he wanted to say it.
âWhatever it is, Iâm sure I can handle it,â you teased.
Dean gave you a smile. His shoulders relaxed a little.
âThey want to promote me to Captain,â he said.
Your mouth fell open and your eyes went wide.
âThey? Whoâs they?â you asked.
Dean blew out a breath and scratched at the small scar on the side of his head.
âApparently it came from the Battalion Chief.â
He explained that the Fire Department had gotten the full debrief from both Sam and John about Deanâs involvement in ending the serial arsons and murders committed by Nick and Daniel Savage. Without you and Dean, they wouldnât have figured out Azazelâs identity, let alone stopped his criminal enterprise.
You smiled wide with excitement as you held Deanâs face in your hands.
âThatâs amazing!â you said. You pulled him in for a hug. Though he held you back, you soon realized that you were happier than he seemed to be. You pulled back and carded your fingers through his hair, earning his gaze.
âWhatâs wrong, baby? This is great news!â
Deanâs lips pursed. âI donât know. I broke ranks and defied a direct order at the Savage & Co. fire. And at the warehouse, I was even more reckless. I donât want to be promoted for disobeying orders.â
You frowned at that, even as you continued to stroke through his hair.
âWhat did Bobby tell you?â you asked.
Once again, Dean sighed. Heâd been called into Bobbyâs office a few days ago, after his first shift back at 25.
Heâd surprised the hell out of Dean.
âDid you break ranks that day, and put not just yourself, but Benny and the rest of your men in danger?â Bobby said. âYou bet your ass.â
Dean averted his gaze. He stood with his hands drawn behind his back, willing to take whatever punishment the Chief saw fit.
âBut,â Bobby continued. His fingers tapped on his desk, where he sat on the edge across from Dean. âIt wasnât fair of me to stop you from lookinâ for your girlfriend.â
Deanâs attention sharpened at that, and he frowned in confusion. Bobby didnât apologize. Ever.
âSir?â Dean asked uncertainly.
Bobby softened the slightest bit. He heaved a sigh.
The man was a widower, but he still wore his wedding ring. He toyed with it now on his finger.
âWe couldâve radioed in with the other teams already at work. I couldâve paired half of your team with the top floor units. But in the heat of the moment, I made a judgment call,â Bobby said, leveling Dean with a look. âAs a leader, youâll continue makinâ mistakes. Youâll make the wrong call. Itâs how you learn to keep leading that matters. And there ainât a person in this house that wouldnât have gone up to pull your fool head outta that fire.â
Dean stayed quiet in his discomfort. He still wasnât entirely sure why Bobby was telling him all of this.
âThat being said, this is coming from the top,â Bobby said. His gruffness was back. He took a folder off his desk and handed it to Dean. âHereâs the next step, if you choose to accept it.â
You were crying by the end of his story. Dean cupped your cheek and caught your tears with his thumb. You grabbed that hand and gently squeezed.
âHe believes in you, Dean,â you said. âSo do I. And itâs my turn to be so damn proud of you.â
Dean graced you with a smile for that one. Yours brightened. You moved off the couch and slid into his lap, twining your arms around his neck. Dean welcomed you with an arm around your waist and a hand sliding up your jean-clad thigh.
âGuess Iâm gonna have to get used to calling you Captain,â you said with a smirk.
Captain Winchester, Dean considered, rolling the weight of it around in his mind.
He chuckled. âOkay, maybe I'm liking the sound of that.â
âMhmm, thatâs what I thought,â you said, shortly before you pressed your lips to his. He squeezed your hip while your deft fingers once again slipped into his hair. With each new kiss, Dean felt more of his uncertainty melt away.
A new thought occurred to him then. It made him start to grin against your lips, and you parted from him.
âWhat?â you asked in amusement.
Dean slipped a hand into his pocket, where he felt the outline of his motherâs newly resized ring.
âHey,â he said. Your brows drew together in suspicion at the gleam in his eye.Â
âHey, yourself,â you quipped.Â
Dean breathed in deep, steeling himself. He looked into your eyes, and he smiled.Â
âIâve got a question for you.â

wait wait lemme cook, firefighter!soap & baker!readerâŠbecause y/n will never be boring!!
there was a fire at the bakery, youâre pretty sure the owner burned it down for insure and you got caught in the middle of it.
johnny has saved dozens of people before but has the urge to visit you at the hospital everyday and he doesnât know why (we all know why).
after youâre healed, you start swinging by every so often to deliver fresh donuts to him and his team and they all start teasing him, saying stuff like, âthere goes your girl, johnnyâ
imagine firefighter!soap visiting you in the hospital and being so sweet :(( and not accepting praise for how he literally pulled you from the flames.
you're not seriously injured, aside from some scrapes, bruises, and a few fractures. if soap hadn't been so quick on his feet, he wouldn't have spotted you before the burning bakery collapsed. it was the definition of a close call.
and then, you let it slip that you believe the fire was all a scam. the owner has always been greedy, not allowing you tips, cutting corners, etc. and soap knows that his captain has already voiced the same suspicions to the arson investigators â so it's not an empty lie.
you shouldn't be moving much at all, let alone having him talk your ear off â so he dismisses himself, insisting that you get some sleep, that he'll see visit you sometime soon, etc.
...
immediately goes to the hospital room next door, where the shitty owner of the bakery is. slightly mangled by flames, barely conscious from whatever drugs they're pumping through him.
firefighter!soap leaning over the owner, gripping his jaw and whispering the vilest threats in his ear so none of the nurses/visitors can hear.
how you could've died because of your boss' scam, and it has johnny SEETHING !!! probably more than he should be, considering it's his job to save, not to get involved. soap thinking 'should've let the bastard burn' as he speeds down the hall.
and he's probably not even supposed to be visiting you.
but he'll be back tomorrow. with a card and flowers as if he wasn't on the brink of committing a felony for you.

Prompt 5 - Gold
@wolfstarmicrofic June 5, word count 638
Previous part First part
They stood beside the lake and watched the firefighters putting the fire out. They all squirmed when McGonagall came to stand in front of them and glared.Â
âI am almost certain that one of you, if not all of you, had something to do with this.â Her eyes were on Sirius.Â
Remus started fiddling with the red and gold friendship bracelet on his wrist. Sirius's hand reached over and covered his own, stilling the nervous fingers. Sirius turned his charm on Minerva, keeping his hand on Remus as though it was normal.Â
âMinnie, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it wasnât me.â Siriusâs thumb brushed the soft underside of Remusâs wrist. Remus felt a shiver go down his spine and he had to try hard to keep his pounding heartbeat from giving him away.
âAlright everybody, the fire is out. Please return to your cabins, and weâll see you bright and early for a treasure hunt.â Albus spoke to all the congregated campers and leaders.Â
âI will figure out who is responsible,â Minerva narrowed her eyes again at the four from Gryffindor cabin. However, her eyes did soften at Remus. He hadnât been there that long for her to think heâd had anything to do with it. She strode away from them to talk with Albus and the firefighters.
âCome on,â Sirius started towards their cabin, dragging Remus along with him.Â
They piled onto Siriusâs bed this time. Sirius pulled Remus onto the bed beside him.Â
âStop looking so worried Pete. We didnât leave anything for them to think it was us.â James tried to reassure the nervous boy.Â
âYeah, Petey. The only thing we left behind was the tin box and that was just a cheap thing we found in the supply cupboard.â Sirius joined in. âBesides, all the evidence will have burned up.â Remus couldnât help it, he snorted, which set off the others. Soon they were all giggling.Â
Sirius reached over to the little bedside table and opened the cupboard. He sat back up with a packet of Mars bars in his hand and started handing them out. Remus bit into the gooey treat and smiled happily. He wiggled his foot as the chocolate, caramel and nougat melted onto his tongue. He saw Sirius cock his head at the movement out of the corner of his eye. Remus stilled the movement and looked down, trying to ignore Siriusâs gaze.
Sirius laid back onto his pillow and stretched his legs out into Remusâs lap. He began slowly wiggling his feet back and forth like Remus had been a moment before. Remus blinked down at his lap, frozen.Â
âSo treasure hunt tomorrow, what do we think that entails?â Sirius asked the group. Peter had calmed down now that he had chocolate.Â
âLast year they hid the clues around the lake, itâll probably be in the forest,â Peter said around a mouthful of chocolate.Â
âYeah, but thatâs what they did the year before,â James said thoughtfully. âPlus you burnt down half the forest Pete,â James added, chuckling.Â
âJames,â Peter whined.Â
âIâm only teasing Pete. Thereâs still plenty of trees out there,â James guffawed as Peter grumbled under his breath and went to sit on his own bed, pulling a magazine out from under his pillow and hiding behind it. James moved back to his own bed as well, putting his earphones in and turning on some music. Remus waited for Sirius to move his feet so he could get up as well, but he didnât.Â
He turned to look at Sirius, but Sirius had put his hands behind his head and closed his eyes. Remus put his hand gently on Siriusâs leg, getting ready to move them out of the way, when Siriusâs eyes snapped open and stared straight into Remusâs. Remus froze again.Â
