I was talking to someone about Scárthur and this is basically how I view them (I wanted to share) cause why not

My reason for shipping them was primarily because of their fathers, but I later thought about shipping them. I like to think that someone like Arthur, whose mind is constantly filled with revenge, would let loose around someone as calm as Scáthach. Also, they would help each other in battle, with one of them being a sword fighter and the other being a mage, they would cover each others weaknesses. They’re also older brothers, so they would understand the need to protect their younger sisters (tho they have very different dynamics with them). Scáthach would always remind Arthur to take care of himself, and Scáthach can even break from the facade of being mature to being silly with Arthur. They would balance each other out

some taken from this post and my reblog additions there. added more characters, with some suggestions by friends/mutuals (marked by *asterisk ).

this can also be a games recommendation list based on your fav/most relatable characters too, if you want

characters that are not are included are bc i dont have ideas for them. if i only list the genre name but not any specific titles, its bc im not familiar enough with the character/genre to pick a specific game.

this list is, of course, biased towards games im more familiar with. feel free to ask me to elaborate on my choices or make suggestions in the comments

Laios' party:

Laios: plays lots of Monster Hunter. loves Spore but he doesnt often play past the tribal stage. likes Pokemon but he's more focused on catching the pokemon than following the story. played WolfQuest and DragonFable back in the day. enjoyed the concept of Bugsnax but wasn't interested in dealing with the NPCs

Marcille: mainly Dwarf Fortress, RTS games, some colony sims. but also sometimes The Sims, and dollmaker dress-up games. i could see her also enjoying Rollercoaster Tycoon and making elaborately-themed parks. might also occasionally indulge in some visual novels if she's in the mood for narrative she has Stardew Valley so she can have something to play co-op with falin, but its not a game she plays a lot of otherwise. when playing with falin, marcille micromanages the farm to maximize productivity, and does the decorations

Chilchuck: puzzle games and hidden object/escape room games as a video game-equivalent to finding/dismantling traps and lockpicking. i think he'd also enjoy Bejeweled.

Senshi: mainly Wii games and Cooking Mama. occasionally plays Snake on his 15-year-old nokia phone. i dont think he would enjoy games like Overcooked or restaurant manager games, because he likes to take his time making food, not stressing about customer service

Falin: some *Legend of Zelda games – she likes the exploration aspect in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, maybe also some of the toon zelda games like Minish Cap or Wind Waker she also plays Pokemon (*Pokemon Go when she's traveling), and i think she would enjoy some indie games, like Penko Park or Chicory: A Colorful Tale. plays Stardew Valley co-op with marcille – falin mainly takes care of the animals, mining, and picking the crops. occasionally makes improvement suggestions that marcille didnt think of

Izutsumi: i could see her enjoying games with parkour mechanics, like *Assassin's Creed, or Mirror's Edge. or maybe something simple but requiring cat-like swipes, like Fruit Ninja. despite her impatience, i think she could also enjoy action games with interesting longer narratives, as evidenced by [this omake] (relevant portion pictured below), so maybe *Final Fantasy 7 – my friend who's familiar with the game said "she’d find Cloud and Vincent relatable"

Kabru: definitely Crusader Kings. maybe also some rpgs with relationship/faction mechanics, such as *Fire Emblem (one of the older ones or FE:3H) or Fallout: New Vegas (hes maxing out the speech stat asap) i think he would also enjoy mystery games like Pentiment and Return of the Obra Dinn – he would love the process of getting familiar with the many characters and deducing "who did what" in both games.

Rin: she takes pride in being an indie gamer (translating her disdain for upper class magic academy mages -> disdain for AAA games). given her chain-lightning magic in canon, i think she'd enjoy games with AOE-type magic, so maybe games such as Vampire Survivors. my mutual also suggested she might enjoy indie mystery visual novels like *Paranormasight, and that her AAA guilty-pleasure would be *Final Fantasy 14 – that rin is "a hardcore ff14 raider. would join PUGs and shot-call every week. #holm and diya might also play ff14 casually with rin but holm would be fishing mainly"

Mickbell: mainly Bethesda games like Fallout and Skyrim– enjoys the bootstrapper power fantasy in them. the type to go out of his way to pick up all the loot he can, to later sell

Kuro: enjoys the same games as Mickbell, but for the open-world exploration and investigation factors

Toshiro and Tansu's party:

Namari: her interest in fighting and weapons could translate to brawler/fighting games and action games with a focus on weapon stats – so maybe *Street Fighter, *God of War, and/or *Dark Souls. might play *Monster Hunter with laios but for the weapons. i could also see her occasionally enjoying truck simulators

Toshiro (Shuro): has the perseverance for soulslikes and other high-difficulty action and/or metroidvania games, but would take his time overthinking item/weapon synergies sometimes. given [his fondness for bugs], i could also see him enjoying Hollow Knight

Tade: would enjoy the cute aesthetics and lighthearted gameplay of Animal Crossing and Katamari. would also like idol anime rhythm games

Kiki: i think she would enjoy horror games such as Resident Evil, but would play it while super chill. i dont have much reasoning for this aside from vibes

Canaries:

Mithrun: plays Doom. got into Hollow Knight but still hasn't finished it because he keeps getting lost. senshi introduces him to Cooking Mama later on, which he finds surprisingly therapeutic

Cithis: plays Hitman and enjoys staging elaborate accident kills. i think she'd also enjoy The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, with her background as a devious fortune-teller

Fleki: surreal indie games like Hylics. also plays Team Fortress 2, and is a scout main. occasionally joins lycion in Animal Jam

Lycion: active WolfQuest and Animal Jam player. occasionally joins fleki in tf2

Pattadol: plays Stardew Valley – shes comparatively a normie, but on the meticulous side. she would enjoy perfecting her in-game farm

Otta: plays Genshin Impact. the serious reasoning is because of her (earth) elemental magic and how genshin has an elemental magic system (from my understanding. ive never played it). the joke reasoning is how some genshin players play to collect "waifus", and how otta goes through a lot of women in her dating life

Other:

Leed: runs her own guild in World of Warcraft

Winged Lion: god-games like WorldBox or Simmiland. and Darkest Dungeon (this ones mostly a joke)

Thistle: plays the original Plants VS. Zombies. also plays Minecraft and is very serious about it, but hasn't updated his game in years (translating the fact hes a 1000-year-old kid frozen in time -> playing "slightly old" games popular in the early 2010s)

Thoughts on my 1st Blue Lions Playthrough - [1/4]

First off - to my DA/ME mutuals, my apologies. This is purely a Fire Emblem: Three Houses post since I've been playing this in my free time.

Second off - to anyone that’s part of the FE3H fandom, this is my first time EVER playing the Blue Lions route so please don't spoil stuff for me in the comments that isn’t common knowledge. I'm enjoying this playthrough - a LOT. [I'm a diehard Golden Deer girlie, so bear with me lmao]

So, I was going into this initial playthrough with building the support amongst Byleth and the Blue Lions class - I enjoyed the interactions with some of the members I hadn't recruited during my Golden Deer run, as well as the interactions with Dedue and Dimitri with the other characters.

So, for context - I love Ashe's earnest personality and how sweet he is. I had planned for Byleth to initiate the romance-support after the time-skip (obviously). Until this goddamn line slips from Dimitri's mouth and I tell you... I fucking paused.

This happens after the victory at Gronder Field (before time-skip) and this is the line he says to Byleth...

"I suppose the look on your face is just another boon from this glorious day. Perhaps the best one of all."

I was speechless and was like, "Woah, there... I was not expecting this-"

To which I was cut off by his next line...

"You look so... happy. I love seeing you like this."

When I tell you I had to stop for a second and had asked myself a series of questions -

"Did he seriously just say that? I'm dyslexic, but there's no way I mistook what was just said, right? Oh god, will Byleth romance Dimitri now??"

I'm wondering if there's anyone that can agree with me that you were initially going to gain S-support with another character and those words were said to you by Dimitri (if you're playing as Fem!Byleth, like me) and you switched all because of that scene.

But wait - there's more!

After the rescuing Flayn from the Death Knight and all that, when reuniting with Dimitri [who had grabbed help and hadn't been involved with the fight], he's surprised/delighted to see Byleth smile when realizing that she had saved everyone that had been taken. He is literally staring at her and smiling as he says such a smooth line...

"It's just... I've never seen you look so happy before. It's downright mesmerizing."

Sir. SIR.

Anyway, back when fire emblem 3 houses was at it's peak of popularity, I was very involved in the fandom, and made the mistake of saying what I said above in a post and all hell broke lose lmao

For people who don't know, Dimitri is like a big BIG fan favorite character in the fire emblem fandom, anyway it got so bad I was blocked by multiple mutuals and I had to delete the post and leave tumblr for a while lmao

I eventually left the fe 3houses fandom, and only this year, like almost 5 years after the game came out, I started making drawings for the game lmao

I had the game tags blocked here and on twitter, like that's how removed from the fandom I was

So people asking me if I like Dimitri is like, my worst nightmare and it makes my fight or flight response activate bdjdbjd

Do you have any stories behind your dogs' names?

Since I was a little kid I wanted a pair of dobermans like Roscoe and DeSoto from Oliver and Company (the Disney movie), except I wanted to name them Skoll and Hati.

Ok so then I found out that usually male dobermans hate each other and it's to such an extent that most dobe breeders simply will not sell a male puppy to someone who already has a male dog. So I adjusted course to account for same sex aggression and decided to start with just one male.

And then I rescued Skoll.

After losing Skoll, I sort of wallowed for a bit because I grieve, um, very intensely, and I spun my wheels in being interested in getting another but not really knowing how I wanted to go about it. I was on a bunch of waiting lists but they either fell through or still didn't produce a puppy for over a year.

And then a (now former) friend told me about a puppy she was getting and how the breeder still had two males left and the litter naming theme was "moon". I knew I wanted to name my next male dobe something that at least nodded to Hati, since I was unwilling to have a call name that sounds so much like "hottie" because the reception of a black man saying hottie over and over in public spaces is, er, usually fairly poor. Ironically I still got the cops called on me in the same situation I was afraid of, training my dog in public, and it wasn't even over my dog's name.

I contacted the breeder, and a few weeks later was driving home with Creed- named for my favorite videogame series, and his registered name "Chasing the Moon" a nod to the theme and legacy I began with Skoll.

Creed died from cancer and I went back to grieving intensely and not really knowing what to do from there. Someone saw that I was looking for a co-own situation having heard through mutual friends, and sent me a bitch they'd pulled from a pretty horrific situation. She had an interesting pedigree, so the plan was to rehab and then breed her. That was Phoebe, and that was the name she came with, but I thought the name suited her and that's technically a god so sure. Phoebe unfortunately did not rehab as well as we thought she would, and succumbed to her poor condition.

Meanwhile, a good friend of mine that I've known since Creed was a puppy produced a litter she dedicated to the memory of him. The litter theme was Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which we were both enjoying playing in the months leading up to the litter being born. How perfect, my Norse wolf themed naming convention combined with the love of my silly historical fantasy series. So, Fenris, the Wolfkissed.

As for the non-dobermans:

Tiki and Fae are named after a Fire Emblem race called manaketes, who are people who can turn into dragons (or, I suppose more correctly, dragons that can turn into people). Tater was going to be named Corrin in the same theme, but was named by her breeder and I felt knew her name too well for me to change it. Fae's registered name was going to be Tiger King themed and I asked the breeder to please not do that and suggested something Greek God themed to match my gods themeing, and they agreed.

Sushi as the odd one out, I wanted a cute and non-intimidating name for what was supposed to be my service dog. I like plant and food names but was really having a hard time deciding until a roommate made the suggestion of Sushi, which I thought was very fitting and stayed on that.

Mega Man X3

I’ve heard good things comparatively about this game, but being completely honest, I think this might have been my least favorite in the first half of the X series.

Really the only track to grab me was the intro stage theme, while everything else just wasn’t really my cup of tea.

As for gameplay, it’s mostly great, with my only complaints being that the enemies hit like a sack of hammers, and the upgrades and extras are a bit too out of the way. Even those complaints though get mollified by the armor upgrades. I wish more Mega Man games had a stage map. (The overworld map in ZX does not count.)

Mega Man X4

This is probably one of the best Mega Man games, period.

The presentation is smooth and excellent on almost all fronts. Even the infamous voice acting can be gotten around by playing the Japanese dub (which is the complete opposite of bad). It’s quite clear that Capcom wanted to be ambitious for their attempt to bring the Blue Bomber into the PlayStation generation. The mostly succeeded.

Offering nitpicks though, I will say that the extra life and weapon energy tanks were almost useless. The extra lives because even getting a game over doesn’t set you back that far, and the weapon tanks because you’re hardly going to need more than one or two to complete any given stage.

Fire Emblem Echoes

I preface this by saying I only did the main story, with no postgame or dlc. (This means I will not be joining my mutual @felikatze in Fell-Dragonology.)

This one is a bit of a nail for Fire Emblem fans. Plenty see it as the height of the series, with a gripping narrative and a well-balanced cast, involving the player in two stories that play off of each other. Others see it as a dull slog through uninspired plots and maps.

I have to say that I can see both sides. I absolutely loved the story, and that was definitely helped by the top-notch voice cast. However, the gameplay is more than a bit messy.

I don’t know if this was unique to my run, or if the game is coded to just hand out bad level ups consistently, but it felt like every time I tried to bring a character up to snuff, they’d be hit with bad level after bad level, leaving my with snipers that couldn’t snipe, and paladins that couldn’t pal. For that matter, support conversations have been made unnecessarily worse, by having them take place on the maps themselves and not showing who can support with who until they fight together. (Clair and Clive deserved a chance to be siblings, dammit!) While I find the idea of dungeon exploration in a strategy game intriguing, I don’t think it was handled altogether too well. The dungeons are too spacious for how simple they are, the pre-existing encounters respawn too often, and the maps that do try to add interest tend to be irritating. Part of my irritation may just be from me bing bad at strategy games, but part of it is in fact the wide open, un-obstacled maps that you must move units across one, by, one, for turns on end.

I still enjoyed the game. More specifically, the characters and plot were enough to keep me engaged(Heh) from beginning to end. Even with my gripes, I still recommend this game.
