I once saw someone say that Claude didn't actually flame a border war between Sreng and Faerghus in Hopes because Sreng and Faerghus already hated each other, which somehow negates Claude’s active prodding of Sreng to attack Faerghus.

People will just make shit up or say the dumbest shit ever to defend Hope's writing of Claude, which is crazy because I could swear almost no one ever came to bat for Claude this much in 3H where he has such better writing in general (it could still be a lot better but it IS a lot better than whatever the hell Hopes did)

before we hit ch25, the last few lines of this one are pretty nutty in an emotional implications way.

corrin's fam is a bit fucked up, y'all.

(that's a roundabout way of saying mikoto's growing on me in a big way this playthrough.)

if you successfully run through this stealth level, possessed!mikoto tries to trick you with the last door. I'm pointing this out to show the increasingly more blurry line of possession as these last few levels go on. corrin's starting to get the idea, thankfully.

don't always take them at their word, basically. watch the actions.

when you add in all of the more autonomous(ish) possessed characters together (mikoto, takumi, gunter), you start to see common patterns with how anankos presses on their psychic wounds.

mikotos, as you could take a gander with the last post, craves more time with corrin. her mother's instinct gets warped in a way that anankos can bend in a way that (nearly) guarantees corrin's destruction.

i find it interesting that her psychic wound here mirrors her magical barrier with how she drains nohrian troops of their will to fight. 'surrender/stop resisting/in the name of (twisted) love'

(I can't talk much to takumi's possession/his psychic wounds as much other than a 'yeap looks like anankos really whacked hard on that competitive/insecurity nerve there. but it does look quite consistent with the other two.)

mikoto's boss fight is up.

.... the massive spoiler that (one of) mikoto's lovers was human!anankos (aka corrin's bio!dad) just hit me, actually.

this whole exchange is exceptionally twisted with that in mind.

corrin defeats her. before we hit her actual death scene, you get the items, if you had completed the stealth level successfully.

(gunter's line here is a throw-away in the great scheme of things, I'm pretty sure it's nintendo throwing one last hail mary of sorts to the denser players of 'hey remember this guy, he's about to be very important wink wonk')

(also, imo, it's not a coincidence he keeps randomly showing up whenever corrin's parents are involved.)

corrin's starting to get it.

mikoto's hoshidan children get a chance to huddle around and say their good-byes before she dissolves into the water bubbles that signifies complete "body is dead" anankos' possession. (water being the element he and the other vallites are heavily linked to).

speaking of, we get a revelation ba dum tishh here....

in terms of plot twists, this one's actually not that surprising. nintendo's kind of wearing a little thin of 'oops actually royal of x country' twists but this one makes more sense with how mysterious corrin's past is.

Anankos x Mikoto hcs pls uwu

Ok, I promise this will be the last Anankos prompt I do before I do a request for another character. (Too bad we don’t have any Touhou prompts I can do right at the moment…..)

I do really like this pairing though, so I guess it will be a nice way to end the chain of Anankos requests~ 

This will be in the context of Heroes because one, the last one was, and two, Mikoto is in Heroes and goddammit IntSys, Anankos deserves to be in the game too!

I’m sorry but if we are going off her outfit in the Adrift banner…..Anankos is just…..stunned by her beauty, even though he’s likely staying far away. (He still doesn’t interact much with those from the world of Fates, besides the Kanas and the other child units.)

No seriously, he just admires her from far away, since he wants to spare her any emotional pain that could occur from them reuniting. Anankos wants to hug her but feels distance is what he should keep.

(Sorry my version of Anankos has a hard time believing he deserves nice things when used in the context of Fates in any way.)

Meanwhile, Mikoto hears about an odd Manakete who keeps his distance from anyone who doesn’t seek him out first; it takes her a while to find someone who has interacted with him often enough to know how to find him.

(The advice is likely to ask one of the dragon children to locate him because they seem extremely adept at locating him from needing to do so to get him to play with them.)

But through the heroes he has befriended, Mikoto does figure out who this odd Manakete is, and tries to find him….only for the Silent Dragon to flee in his dragon form.

So she assumes he wants space, even if it was a little disappointing to hear that Anankos was sane here but see the dragon run away upon her trying to approach him.

She quickly realizes it was a mistake to vent to the versions of Corrin that were summoned with her because oh, there go both dragons, off to gather up the other four Corrins so they can all drag Anankos on over.

Mikoto ends up finding all six Corrins dog-piling dragon form Anankos; the dragon Corrins are also in dragon form, New Years Corrin and Sword Corrin are just trying to act as deadweight to hold down the ancient dragon’s head, and Summer Corrin just has her wyvern sitting on Anankos’ tail.

All six Corrins are trying to convince Anankos to stop being afraid and just go talk to Mikoto; the fact they are all working together means they make a good amount of progress.

RIP NY and Sword Corrin once Mikoto approaches and surprises Anankos, as they both got flung when the silent dragon’s head suddenly shot up. Don’t worry, at least one of the dragon Corrins dashed off to try to catch them.

Thankfully, the fact he still has two dragons and a wyvern holding him down makes it so he can’t flee this time.

………Honestly, Anankos was expecting anything other than Mikoto trying to calm him down and reassure him that it’s fine, and she won’t hurt him.

(Excuse me as I take 3000 years to get to the fluff) After a chance to talk to each other over what happened in their world of origin, it seems like they are merely friends to pretty much anyone else, but honestly they are just like that when together.

Please imagine the Hoshidian siblings’ shock and surprise when they realize that their step-mom’s close friend isn’t just a friend. Or just realize that Mikoto banged a dragon.

Actually, I guess that last part applies to anyone from the World of Fates who is unaware of Mikoto’s relationship with sane Anankos.

But seriously, this two just seem like close friends besides the rare times someone actually spots them holding hands or sitting together somewhere. (Or spot Anankos blushing, which is a good sign he just got a kiss, even if you don’t see Mikoto nearby.)

Even the summoner wasn’t aware that these two were a thing until actually told by one of the Corrins.

Though honestly, I think those that know about Anankos’ possible struggles with keeping himself sane are happy to see him have someone that close to him that can easily calm him down.

...............though god forbid someone hurt Mikoto and let the Silent Dragon become aware of it. No one likes seeing Anankos mad given that he basically gets trapped in dragon form and is a pain in the ass to calm enough to get him back into human form.

Everyone just tries to keep his rampage contained or lead him toward the enemy, and then hope Mikoto can calm him down afterwards.

Thankfully, she usually can, and the rare times she can’t, he still won’t harm her and will likely flee to go calm down by himself away from anyone he could harm.

Those times where he has to be left by himself for a few hours are becoming fewer and fewer the longer he is in Askr, and having someone he loves enough that even his dragon form in a feral state will refuse to harm helps as well.

I've been playing Fates again (thanks gay fates mod ily kiss kiss) and after (re)reading through counter-critiques of its story and generally thinking about it again I'm kinda left with the following thoughts and wanted to share as you're our resident Fates Was Good, Actually blogger.

a) so much of Fates critique falls into cinemasins-level "this isn't explicitly stated therefore BAD" territory (or otherwise stuff that shouldn't be, and often isn't, a problem in other games in the series)

b) we wouldn't need to bring up the Japanese script in contrast with the localization in the first place if the fandom hadn't completely poisoned the well in regards to talking about Fates' story. I had no idea about any of the localization changes my first play-through and I still thought Fates' plot was fine. Good, even!

The fatescourse is what made me leave the fandom around the time 3H came out, and every time I take a peek back in the subreddit or other fandom spaces it still seems to be just as much of a toxic cesspool as ever. Which sucks because I want to talk about Blorbo from my Emblems again, but I really don't want to have to deal with The Discourse & general toxicity

For your first point, yeah, that's what it feels like. Saying it's CinemaSins-esque feels like a low blow, but it honestly does remind me of those videos. And they aren't meant to be actual critique! They're sarcastic entertainment and little else! But so much of Fates criticism is "why doesn't X just do Y? never explained by in-game text, so therefore story bad" or "why isn't Z plot point expanded upon? game never tells me so story bad." It's cheap and shallow, above all else. It's reminiscent of the Blue Curtains literary discourse, in that people only go with what's written explicitly rather than connect the dots from plot point to plot point. You're supposed to connect Azura's pacifying song to Mikoto's pacifying magic to Valla's history of magical development due to being directly blessed by Anankos; same with the crystal ball, water motifs, and future sight, those are all Valla-centered traits. But because the game never says "oh this is because of Valla", people think the place is just a nameless evil nation with no history or unique aspects.

For your second point, god, yes. Soooo many take any localization criticism as either a) alignment with unsavory anti-censorship anti-sjw chuds who are mostly complaining about not getting to boink lolis or b) not worth the time because "it wasn't gonna make a bad story any better anyway" which is such a gutter thing to say because localizations have literally changed things and removed crucial information in the series before Fates. The big examples being stuff with the Black Knight in the Tellius games, the long script removal in Radiant Dawn, and lines relating to Nergal's backstory in FE7 being mistranslated. Awakening had its share of localization discourse and criticism due to characters like Henry being changed, as well.

And I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a little resentful that 3H of all games is when people started giving a shit, cuz now that a "good game with a good story is being affected, it's now worth our time."

Plus this shit is still happening, considering that FEH consistently gets stuff wrong or mistranslated to this day.

ive been thinking about it all day so have a xenoblade chronicles x au headcanon dump

anankos was one of the officials of the earthlife colonization project, securing mikoto, kaito, araceli, and lilith spots on the white whale-- unlike maurice chausson, he couldn’t bear the thought of his family being left to burn on earth. that said, he gave up his own salvation to ensure theirs and remained behind when the arks departed, dying alongside the earth.

upon her lifepod being discovered and araceli being brought back to new los angeles, she decided to join blade after learning of her father’s sacrifice. she wanted to repay him for saving their lives and contribute to humanity’s future as best as she could, so working for blade seemed like the logical conclusion.

despite disliking fighting, araceli decided to join the harriers division, as she noticed how in badly need they were of recruits. when she’s not called on assignment or helping other members of blade on their own assignments, araceli tends to assist the mediators resolving problems around the city. 

as a playable character, cross would be able to recruit her in the residential district near the tennis court, resolving a problem between two humans. after chapter 5, the humans will change and become a nopon and a ma-non, then after chapter 9 she will move to the administrative district near the harrier’s sector of division drive.

her class is an alternative galactic knight, using dual guns and the photon saber in combat. initially, araceli used a photon saber made by grenada galactic group, but soon picked up one made by six stars once the wrothians allied with humanity and hasn’t looked back. her dual guns are made by candid & credible.

her art palette consists of astral horizon, starfall blossom, starfall rondo, galactic cataclysm, early bird, ghostwalker, primer, and sliding slinger.

araceli has a skell license, being a harrier, and operates a lailah model. she is among the first to have her skell outfitted with the flight module when lin finally completes it, and occasionally goes on a flight when she needs to clear her head. the skell’s name is the yato no kami, commonly shortened to the yato.

her biggest wish is to reunite with her remaining family, and often keeps tabs on the reclaimers’ progress on locating the lifehold. kaito and lilith may potentially be rescued, but until the lifehold is found, mikoto is missing.

japan/ons world as nohr and hoshido - the vamps are nohr, the jida is hoshido, and the possessed/demons are valla - shinoa takes to hoshido (birthright), and mika takes to nohr (conquest), hoshido (birthright) or goes alone (revelations) so he is overpowered okay because i like mikayuu also bc technically this is what happens canonically in the anime-manga soooo Mikaela Shindo-Tepes-Hyakuya or whatever/Shinoa Hiiragi (technically, their last names would be Bathory, but last names don't exist in fe so ha i freaking beat the system) as M!Corrin and F!Corrin respectively - yes they can still shapeshift into a dragon - yes they can still use swords/whatever they use - yes they still start out as a nohrian/nohrian noble - no they are not the same as each other - since corrin is a flexible character and ultimately shows no individual personality whatsoever, corrin in whatever gender will be modified to shinoa and mika's personalities - mika can use swords, lances, and axes - shinoa can use swords, lances, and tomes - in their upgraded forms that is; before they use a master seal, they can only use their dragon stone and sword - mika can only be paired with yuu (nyehehehehe it's cause i'm the creator suckeR) but shinoa can be paired with either mitsuba or yuu (because mitsushin is goals hell yeah) yuu as azura - manlier (than azura, but still pretty feminine - more feminine that in the anime/manga) - still sings (ie azura sings on the battlefield to give the units one more turn) - is paired with shinoa/mika (f!corrin vs m!corrin) - child isn't specified? - ^might have to include @califlair 's (tumblr) michirou, aka mikayuu love child - idk what shinoa's child would be, but p michirou still (even though he's mika's lmao) - ^maybe just redesign a child for yuunoa - he kills kureto/krul(?)/whoever will be in place of hoshido (ie jida, so maybe not krul...oH SHINYA YEAHHHH) and takes mika or shinoa and drags he or she off to Nohr - mika is okay with ferid but thinks he's annoying, and shinoa outright loves/hates him - the retainers are modified according to their characters in game (ie not much is known about noin, so i can modify her all i want besides the fact that she hates the jida; ie chess and horn are romantically attracted to crowley, so that will stay) - lest literally tries to stop crowley in his own weird lest way but, like elise when she tries to persuade xander, is killed in a kamikaze mission, although he doesn't necessarily jump in front of mika/shinoa like elise does to corrin - by the time shinoa/mika reaches ferid, he's literally just bawling his eyes out (since apparently he has time to do that during war) and fuola is not present; ferid cries over a picture of guren (who had previously been thought dead before mika/shinoa went to hoshido but was then found out (lol) and bc of that ferid just hates the hoshidans more so tht does literally nothing but make him a depressed idiot (he's pretty difficult to save though even while depressed so)  the JIDA (led by Shinya Hiiragi) as Hoshido - woO MAMA SHINYA ISN'T SO MAMA ANYMORE - ^ jk he still kinda is, but not as much as the fandom makes him out to be and he def not as motherly as mikoto - he's more fatherly lmao - he is in a relationship with guren atm (ur like 'woah he's alive??? wut') - the jida are still in fact called hoshido lmao - they aren't as sunny as the hoshidans because of mahiru... who is currently gonna be anankos for now thanks - Shinya knows where, what, and how to get to valla via guren, because they are a happy couple - sayuri is ryouma, narumi is hinoka, kimizuki is taKUMI YEAHHH, yoichi is sakura because heck yeah – ps there will be yuuyoi/yoiyuu interaction - the retainers (they have so many more than nohr lmao) are: norito goshi (yoichi), mito jujo (sayuri), aoi sangu (guren+shinya's advisor), shigure yukimi (sayuri), aiko aihara (kimizuki), shusaku iwasaki (narumi), and mitsuba sangu (who was technically hired to be shinoa/mika's retainer as a child, but since corrin in game was taken away, she became a strategist and the back-and-forth retainer of kimizuki and yoichi, the bros who usually work in a team (when mika/shinoa come back, she's overjoyed and doesn't mind the nohrian attack on guren) (:0000 jk it's cause she obv remembers mika/shinoa and wants to be his/her retainer ) - the retainers know about guren's 'ability' and were appointed to their retainer to reveal the ability to the noble children (sometime in the very very very very very far future) - kimizuki, like takumi in conquest, does indeed do become possessed by a vallan 9APPARENTLY ITS 'VALLITE') (ie a demon) but only for a short while when he is fighting against mika/shinoa with yoichi in like chapter 28 or something lol - hoWEVER HE DOESN'T DIE LIKE TAKUMI DID OKAY he just like gets calmed by yoichi because unlike takumi, who was fighting solo, kimizuki is with yoichi/sakura so is calmed and coaxed out of pairing with the vallite demon and jUMPING OFF A FREAKING CLIFF Demons/People able to harbor Demons as Valla - okay, this is probably the most complicated out of all of them - Guren, Yuu, AND Shinya are from Valla (as well as the actual demons like kiseki-o and asuramaru and mahiru... sort of) - Kiseki-o and Asura are buddies in Valla (Asura is like.... the hoshidan lilith because of yuu and kiseki-o is the nohrian one; yes i know lilith is not a vallite shut up) – kiseki-o is an evil son of a biatch and is the one who possesses kimizuki/takumi under ferid's request – despite this asura is still chill with him bc they're of the same kind so - Guren is the queen... king of valla and yuu is the princess lmaooooo - contrary to the game, i'm being a rebel and having azura and corrin not be cousins (ie hence why shinya and guren are a couple and not siblings because i don't support incest) - also, i'm also thinkig that guren had yuu before he remarried to ferid, and ferid trying to try his best to impress the son and ultimately failing, only to be happy because oh yuu felt bad and tried his hardest to like ferid - eventually he hated him because he thought that ferid had killed guren after his disappearance, and marched on out to the hoshidan/nohr borders at the bottomless canyon to jump back to valla only to be captured by the hoshians he despised (then found out they weren't so bad) and found his mom again - he still hated ferid – suCK IT FERID - okay, so since vallites are the demons in ons, they can regenerate - slowly but surely (takes like a couple of years, unless ur a nobLE) - after the process of regenerating, their timeline is reset so that they look young, but they age and die just like a regular person would (only they would just look young while dying so) – if that's too hard to grasp, here's an easier summary of it: when a vallite dies at a certain age, they will be able to regenerate if his/her body is preserved well enough. once they regenerate, they will look the same as when they died but will also resume the appropriate amount of years that passed when they were dead – so basically they look young but are actually old - and, again, unlike the game, i am having shinya be vallite, only he is a mixed blood vallite (ie half human half vallite) so his regeneration periods trigger less often than a full vallite would - so he looks older than guren but they're the same age lol (which is probably like 30-40 or something, not around 20 like in ons) - guren's regeneration period takes less time since he is a noble of valla, so it would only take him like 2/4 to 3/4 of a year to regenerate - shinya and guren decided not to tell the royal hoshidan children that they were vallite because that would just blur the lines between what is hoshidan and what is vallite - mahiru ties into this because i will have anankos, yes the evil eye dragon thing, be vallite - my history between mahiru and guren confusing bc wow, shinya is also a dragon but can't activaye his powers because mahiru's the one that got the whole dragon blood blah blah, it took her over and she ended up lethally wounding guren, destroying valla (pretty much), and ultimately ruining her relationship with yuu - the hiiragis and the itchynoses had a long history of continuously switching between love and hate, and in guren's gen, he was mahiru's fiancee and had yuu with her, so yeah yuu's also part dragon like azura is in game – good job memu aka me, myself and i for staying somewhat close to the actual fe: fates storyline - anywhoo, as you know, the bottomless canyon (the first actual battle in fe: fates) is a gateway from valla to the real world so ofc guren went that way when he escaped valla (because the way from like bodies of water was blocked off since mahiru literally destroyed everything) so he had to take that way - he tried to take shinya with him, but shinya insisted it would be important for the noble queen (lol) to go escape to safety first, so, after much persuading, guren went without shinya - then he was captured by nohrians after literally not knowing where he was (since he didn't know about the bottomless canyon and just escaped using instinct) and was taken to ferid, who freaking experienced love at first sight – ferid u bich u don't deserve true love - guren didn't feel the same way but thought he was a nice guy so he married the dude – what a freaking nice guy amirite - going back to shinya, there was one lake in the middle of valla (there really isn't one ingame so) and he escaped using that, since it was a portal that all travelers going to valla went through without passing in through the gates (sincethere was a border gate with guards there) and it led to a lake that was around the perimeter of hoshido, which had tenri hiiragi and kureto hiiragi as king and prince in line (this is the time when ferid is like a teen and hoshido and nohr don't hate each other yet) and shinya was put in place as next prince (since hoshidan was first started by vallites ie the hiiragi line, who was more idealistic and hated the fact that valla was a 'dreamlike' place that you could never talk about (since the rainbow sage (aka a really powerful sorcerer who was literally on no side but did what he thought was right) placed a curse on valla) and preferred the real world to valla – short version of what the hell i just said: the true hoshidans were vallites that hated valla and wanted a more realistic place to live that you could actually talk about without dying - shinya missed guren as kureto died early after tenri's rule and he was placed the king and was appalled to see the guy he missed with disgusting lovesickness in the middle show up after a couple years (ie like two decades yeesh) and at this time, ( i lied guren didn't disappear he was done without consent then was 'killed' by nohrian soldiers (and then regenerated since they didn't really kil him but just made him unconcious) and decided to leave nohr - he thought yuu was happy in nohr (he was - he didn't even mind the cold, dark space until he went to hoshido) so guren left him there - shinya then made preparations for guren after he arrived and after like two years they married (and not just to carry on the hiiragi-ichinose name that was planned) and they adopted children (since vallites can only have one child) - vallite men and women can reproduce - it's kinda like omegaverse, a/b/o, but without the ranks - really only the royals, nobles, and a select few people of the male gender can reproduce  - it goes like that for women that can give the men the reproduction system too okay, so now that i've come up with the basic stuff i can get on to the more relationship-building unnecessary things lol support conversations of course, just like what is customary of the fire emblem series, support conversations would probably be present in this crossover the support conversations would have the standard format: C, B, A, S or A+ *A+ os for very good friends -
