6 Fatal Fire Safety Hazards for Banks & Financial Institutions
Commercial buildings often use different fire protection methods. This may be due to the construction of the building or what types of items are in the building. Banks and financial institutions, for example, have their own requirements for fire safety systems, as well as special fire hazards unique to that type of business.
There are six main fire security risks for banks and financial institutions, which is why they need a specially designed fire protection system:

“Very aggressive” homeless encampment sweeps, as recently touted by Mayor London Breed, began Tuesday morning in San Francisco following a major U.S. Supreme Court ruling.
The Standard witnessed aggressive enforcement action under the Central Freeway, carried out by police, the Department of Public Works, Department of Emergency Management, Homeless Outreach Team and San Francisco Fire Department.
Homeless people were not notified of the sweeps ahead of time, as has previously been the norm, according to a schedule of encampment clearings and a city official who was on the scene.[...]
“One of the DPW workers started hollering past me, ‘I’m taking everything today,’ ” Tannahill said. “They were adamant that there wasn’t going to be enough time to pack up the tent.”
By 10:30 a.m., all city workers who were clearing the encampment had moved down the block, to the corner of 13th and Harrison streets.
Brandon Cunningham, the fire department’s incident commander at the scene of an encampment sweep near 13th and South Van Ness streets, told The Standard he was unsure whether people living at the site were notified beforehand. Tuesday’s schedule of encampment clearances, obtained by The Standard, does not list the location.[...]
City staff have previously given notice to encampment occupants days before conducting a clearing.
In a video captured by The Standard, a police officer can be heard explaining to a person whose belongings have just been thrown onto a truck bed that encampments are “no more.”
“London Breed, the mayor, Gov. Gavin Newsom says no more on the streets, no more encampments. No more. This is what it’s come down to. This is our laws,” the officer said.
Max Gunn and Kara Sullivan, who have been homeless in San Francisco for roughly two years, told The Standard the city threw away some of their clothes. Gunn said members of the Homeless Outreach Team told him there were no shelter beds available.
“They got my clothes,” Sullivan said. “They laughed at me and did a mocking New York accent and acted like they were tough.”
A spokesperson for the Department of Emergency Management disputed the individual’s account, saying everyone was offered shelter during Tuesday’s action.[...]
Nisha Kashyap, an attorney representing the Coalition on Homelessness in the suit against the city, called the sweeps “alarming” and “unacceptable.”
“The city’s conduct blatantly violates the existing injunction against property destruction and disregards its own laws and policies that mandate advance notice and the provision of shelter and services,” Kashyap said in a statement Tuesday. “By ignoring the injunction, the city is not only acting unlawfully but also stripping people of their basic survival necessities, making it harder for them to exit homelessness.”
A statement from the mayor’s office said the city’s “street response will consist of offers of services and support on a daily basis, targeted encampment resolutions, and coordinated efforts to prevent re-encampments and new areas from being encamped.”
In a memo shared Tuesday by the mayor’s office, officials said they seek to prevent encampments from cropping up again once they have been cleared.[...]
The memo also outlines the consequences homeless individuals may face if they continue to camp on the city’s streets and refuse shelter. These penalties include citations and possible arrest.
“The goal is not punishment, it is compliance,” the memo reads.

BEBE!Bada Lee x Dancer! F Reader: Jeon Y/n and Bada fall for each other, finding comfort in the latter. Bada never knew how to react around you but kept a strong facade. Yet that comes crumbling down as days go by and you slowly become each other's person.

Note: This took so long... my hands need a dam break from typing. ALSO VERY MUCH NOT PROOFREAD I GOT TOO EXCITED TO POST THIS.
Character Vision Board
Tumblr media
You shouldn't have expected anything less from the leader of Bebe. The deal was to win 2 more battles for a date, which she did just that. She had two matches exactly, one against Redlic of Mannequeen and the other against Gooseul of DeepNDap.
On the other hand, you didn't have any further battles. Other crews were targeting the other members instead. It made you laugh at their face each time Lyn, Heaven, Enyo, and Aria showed out. They shouldn't have questioned the capabilities of your team in the first place. The team was winning more than you can count on one hand, and it made you proud.
When filming ended, Aesthete was all in their room, preparing to leave. As you go to the neighboring room, your duffel bag rests on your shoulders. The team full of youngsters heard a subtle knock on their door. Aware of who it is, Bada opens the door, revealing the other tall dancer.
"So you ready for that dinner?" You ask, leaning on the door frame. She hands you her phone, "Let's switch numbers, and you send me the details," you nod, complying with her wishes. "I'll see you later," you wave off, and she bows in response as your team follows behind you. She turned around, shutting the light blue door, and all her teammates began squealing.
"Wha~ It's really happening," Soweon swoons over the interaction. "Never thought I'd see the day THE Jeon Y/n is hitting on you, unnie," Lusher adds, and all her teammates nod. "The girl who everyone is in love with asked you on a date. I don't know if I should be happy or jealous of you?" Minah jokes at her leader.
"I wonder where she's gonna take you?" Kyma asks, and Bada feels their comments and questions coming at rapid fire. "How bout I go on the dinner first, then I'll let you guys know," she says teasingly, groans filling the room at her sarcasm.
"You're telling us you're not one bit excited for your date?" Cheche wonders, and Bada's face goes red in shame.
"I didn't say that," was all she could say before her crew jumped like little bunnies around her. "This is so exciting for you, unnie," Lusher tells her, and Bada leans her head back, trying to save herself from embarrassment by looking at the ceiling.
"Let's just go home," she grumbles, but their teasing doesn't stop.
"So you can get ready for your date?"
"Will you guys shut up!"

Bada was now at her apartment, readying herself for the next few hours. She had just gotten out of the shower, and her phone notified her about a message.
Y/n❣️ You good in an hour?
Bada was now alarmed, looking at the time. It was only 6 p.m., but she was agitated, knowing she was nowhere near ready.
Ocean🩵 I don't even know what to wear?????
Y/n❣️ Something fancy
Bada replies sure, connecting her address to the message, and scurries through her closet. Fancy? All Bada saw in her closet was her array of baggy clothing. That was until she was nearing the other side of her closet, catching the sight of a handful of dresses. She decided to wear a black velvet bodycon dress that hugged every curve of her body, then topped it with an off-white light cardigan and some sandals.
Time went by, and she heard the doorbell of her place ring. Bada rushes over to her door, fixing up her oreo hair that was now up in a ponytail before opening the door to see you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her eyes grow wide at the view of your apparel. Your hair was in a low bun, showing off the chains you wore. Your suit made you look like you had legs for days, and your boots added an inch to your height.
You made Bada breathless.
You reveal the flowers that hide behind your back, giving them to her with a broad smile as you look her up and down, enjoying the sight. Her usual style had gone out the window, and what stood before you was a feminine beauty who looked divine in the sleek dress.
"You look gorgeous, Bada." You tell her softly, and the latter is trying to take everything in all at once. Your perfume filled her nose, and she smiled at you, "I could say the same thing about you."
"Well, are you ready to go?" She only nods, clutching her bag as she takes your hand. Your eyebrow raises at the touch, but you grasp her hand tighter, loving the warmth it gives you. You take her to your car, open the passenger side, and she thanks you. Making your way to the driver's side, you make your way to a fancy restaurant, and Bada marvels at the building. "Isn't it expensive here?"
"The prices don't matter, Bada. I asked you to come with me. So don't worry about anything." You tell her as you help her exit the car. She wraps her arm around yours, taking in her surroundings. When the two of you enter, her grip becomes tighter, and you look at her. Unable to hold the smile you had, her eyes were roaming around like a lost child.
You go to the host and ask for a table for two. The duo was seated, and you immediately asked for some cider, something light since you still had to drive home. The two of you reading up on the menu and picking out some meals. "Are you sure about this Y/n? The prices are actually crazy."
You grab her hand from across the table, looking at her earnestly, "I told you not to worry about it, Bada." Her heart quickened at the tone of your voice, just nodding.
The two of you drank the alcoholic beverages and started to chat. "I guess I'm your top student now, huh?" Bada jokes, getting an airy chuckle out of you. "Well, you're gonna have to prove it." Her face goes puzzled. "And how would I do that?"
You lean your body forward and whisper, "You just have to be a good girl. You can do that for me, right?" Bada's face was now painted red, her body heating up at the choice of words. She obediently nods, and you let out another chuckle, amused by the reactions she gave you. The world knew her as the confident, tall dancer, but to you, she was a beautiful woman crumbling under your gaze.
"So~ Working as an in-house choreographer under SM?" You try and make conversation. As much as you liked teasing her, you genuinely wanted to get to know her. "Yeah," she says with a tight-lipped smile. "Can I ask how that happened?"
"Uhm, YoungJ oppa had been working with NCT, and he introduced me to Kai first. I guess he liked my dancing so much that he kept asking me to work on the pieces with him." You nod, knowing how Kai was when meeting him while hanging out with BTS Jimin at one point. "I noticed he really does hand-pick the dancers he wants."
"What about you and HYBE?" You sigh at her question, and her brows furrow at your reaction. "I got in due to Bang Si-hyuk's request."
She looks at you weirdly, "Then what's with the reaction?"
"Cause everyone thinks it's cause of Jungkook-oppa." You quickly say, and she nods in understanding. "I started working with TXT first, just so people wouldn't say anything. I even did my best to avoid any project with him, but I couldn't avoid doing RunBTS."
"Why is that?"
"Cause oppa and his members personally asked me," you tell her, but truthfully, they all bombarded your phone and visited your place until you'd accepted. "Do you enjoy it? Being under HYBE?"
"Of course I do. What I hate is all the words being thrown around with it. It's a blessing and a curse," you admit, head hanging low. You hated talking about it in a pessimistic way, but it was something that would be looming over your head for years to come. "Never mind that. How about we talk about that class we agreed on?" Bada grins at your words, "What do you have in mind?"
"A duo dance," you say instantly, and Bada's eyebrows rise. "To what song?" That's when you shrugged. "Whose your favorite artist? We can do a song from them," you suggest.
"It's Vedo," she answers simply, but you laugh, "I should've assumed."
"What does that even mean?"
"Do you know how many videos I've seen of you dancing to his music?" She goes shy, looking away at the question. Your food then arrives, and the two of you get to eat.
"What about this one?" Bada points at the tattoo on your collarbone. The two of you talked about all the ink on your body. You mainly explained that you just loved the look of it, but some did have meaning to it.
The tattoo she gestures to is a rose intertwined with the words, 'Your only limit is you.' You smiled just thinking of the words, "It's just my daily reminder," you joke. "In all seriousness, though, it just reminds me that I shouldn't stop getting what I want, no matter the cost."
You pause before looking dead in her eyes, "Like getting you."
Her mouth goes slightly ajar at your words. She wasn't sure if she loved or hated you for making her feel completely different. THE Bada Lee was having a hard time with someone for once, and she didn't know how to handle it.
The dinner continues to go smoothly, and you suggest going for a walk on the beach. To your dismay, Bada agrees, and you two are now taking a stroll. You lent her your coat, making sure she wouldn't freeze, and the soft sand buried your feet as the cold breeze of the ocean waves over the two of you.
Hand-in-hand, your arms swayed with each other while listening to the sounds of the crashing waves. "Bada, what do you see in your future?" You ask suddenly, and Bada thinks, unable to respond quickly. "I see a dance studio in my name, with Bebe still by my side and a loving partner who would do anything for me."
"That's a very leader-like answer," You smile at her, "How about you?"
"I don't know yet," you go deep into thought. "I just want to be happy. I guess I just like living in the now." You tell while rubbing the back of your neck. "I do want Aesthete to still be together. They brought me a new sense of life," Bada stared at you as you talked about your team in admiration. Bada saw a glimmer in your eye for the first time, maybe the longing of wanting something you could keep forever.
You chatted more about work, dance, family, and friends before realizing how late it was getting. So you drop her back home, walking her back to her apartment door. "I had a good time," she says faintly, and you kiss the back of her hand. Bada was entirely surprised by your gentlewomanly tendencies, "I'm glad, truly." She couldn't look you in the eye, looking at your hand instead. "About that class... wanna make it happen? With Bebe and Aesthete?" You ask. Bada looks at you, "You were being serious? I mean, I'd love to. It would be fun."
"I'll make it happen, Bada. I promise."

The next day, the class mission had just been announced, and it got everyone busy. Your teammates were around the building, finding a quiet place to start working.
You decided to offer to listen to 'Smoke' with Bada in the large dance studio the Street Woman Fighter building had. The two of you stood in the room, listening intently to the song's beats, rhythm, and lyrics. Most of the time, Bada observed you as your body moved quickly, instantly becoming familiar with the music. It was watching your true form at work, and she loved every moment of it.
Bada commended you in her head. Dance just came so quickly to you. It should be that way, but she couldn't fathom the amount of style you used in one go. You were like an oiled machine with much information stored in your brain. While doing that, you went in and out of the room, explaining to Bada that you were just helping and checking up on your girls.
As you repeat some of your moves, trying to find the perfect ones, Bada joins you. Unlike you, she just used the beat and lyrics instead. Occasionally, your brain starts picking up the movements she connected together. You watch as she starts from the beginning. She isolated her neck as she sauntered, mimicking the lyrics, "Light it up."
She flicks up her hand, imitating a working lighter, and you hype her up a little. Your cheers and sickening facial expressions gave her more confidence to use massive power. Despite being technical rivals, you weren't afraid to admit how cool her movements were. You take a break at some point, and she watches as she pieces the second half of the choreography. By the end, you were clapping for her with a proud smile as if she had just won an award. "Your brain works wonders, I tell you." You pat her butt, and she tackles you. Your arms go around her waist, making sure you find your balance. "You ready for this?"
"I think I am," she answers you with a smile, and the two of you head down to the fight zone, seeing all the leaders already there, and sit next to each other.
All you could say as people took turns, they were harsh.
It was soon Bada's turn, and you look at her. Bada tended to bite her lip when she got nervous, and you realized how much she did it throughout every dance a leader presented. While paying attention to everyone's words, your hand makes its way onto her lap, and you clasp your hands on hers as your thumb rubs the back of her hands, calming her down.
When it's Bada's turn, you give her a thumbs up as she stands there. She begins, and everyone finds her choreography the coolest and most doable.
"It looks the coolest. I want to do a dance that can prove our abilities as dancers."
"The groove of it is nice. I wouldn't mind using this piece."
"Isn't this harder to steal?" You look over to the owner of the voice, Mina Myoung. "If we try out for this dance, we have a higher chance of losing." Bada only nods at her words, understanding the thought she took into consideration. Yet, you didn't get it. You wanted so badly to defend Bada.
All of you were dancers and professionals at that. It was your job, and if you didn't have the confidence to do it, maybe it wasn't suitable for you. You held back your tongue, knowing it wasn't your place to talk.
It was then your turn to show out, and you got up to the walkway, showing the powerful yet sleek dance you had prepared. Everyone expresses how they liked the route you took and how cool it made you feel, but on the technicality side, it had aspects of popping and locking with some commercial sprinkled in there that looked difficult to pull off, which makes you nod in understanding.
"Doing this dance would be great. The lines are clean, and it looked empowering."
Kristen smiles at you, "Dude, you're insane. The stylistic choices, the rhythm your body used? I wanna learn it." Yet you hit the same wall Bada does.
"The technicality of it, though, it's not something many of us can't do."
"As cool as the dance is, this choreography is much more in your favor."
That's just when you had to say, "As leaders, we should all be able to dance something at a high level due to our years of experience. We come here not only to show our dance but our leadership to people." Your words simmer in many of their minds, knowing you weren't wrong.
The voting began, and it was a close call between yours, Bada's, and Akanens. The leaders decided to come back and group up later when there was more thought in their choices. When coming back, Bada's dance wins against yours 5 to 2. You were satisfied, though. In fact, you were joyed. You shake her shoulders, congratulating the girl, "You're just too good." And she hugs you in happiness, squeezing hard around your shoulders.
You tell your team, and you are pleased with the outcome. You just knew how trendy the choreography looked and how everyone would be dancing to it when the episode was released.
Now, the leaders were back in the Fight Zone, where Bada prepared to teach the choreography. You decide to stay beside Kristen and give her a fist bump. Bada begins, and as she teaches everyone, the Aesthete and Jam Republic leaders' voices can be heard.
"You really do move those hips like water, Kris," you tell her as you pat the shorters hips, and she giggles. "Says you."
"I mean you over here using so much space and extending your moves. You're making my muscles tense over here." You say, and she hits you jokingly. These interactions happened often throughout the session.
Bada's gaze kept looking at the two of you with much distaste. Your focus should've been on her and her only. This causes her mood to sour, and she targets you gradually during the rehearsal.
"Y/n, you didn't move your chest during the walk."
"No no, that's wrong, your angles are too small."
"Jeon Y/n, are you even paying attention."
You were taken aback by her quick flip in emotions. What the fuck is happening right now?
You couldn't understand what went wrong. Every move was correctly done, down to the facial expression and vibe. As you made friends with the other leaders, you realized it had worsened. Bada was scoffing and giving you death glares every moment she could.
During your break, Bada strays away to the Bebe hideout, and you follow her. You enter the room without warning, making Bada whip her head at the door's sudden opening.
"What is your problem right now, Bada?" You ask, a sound of hurt layered underneath. "I've been doing everything properly?" Your statement sounded more like a question. Throughout the hours, you began doubting if you did anything right but were honestly trying your hardest. So why were you getting shunned for it?
When Bada hears your pain, she beats herself up mentally. She couldn't help but be jealous when she had no right to. "I'm sorry," she huffs, and you sit beside her. "What is it, Bada? What have I done?" You ask with caution, and Bada can't meet your eyes.
"I don't like how close you are with Kristen." She mumbles, and your eyes widen. That was the issue? You chuckle at the girl, and she looks at you with large eyes, "It's not funny," she says, whining. You found it endearing, squishing her face.
She discreetly yearned for your attention the entire time.
Bada was bitter about the attention you gave others and couldn't comprehend why since it was her dance and she was teaching it. "You do know I'm only interested in you, right?" You state the obvious, but Bada's heart flutters. Your arm wraps around her shoulder, "Come on, it's time for the main dancer auditions."
You two head down, and everyone notices the two of you together, which causes every team to tease you two. Bada sat down with her team, hiding her face as she tucked her knees into her chest. You loved it, though. People would now aware of the situation between you two, and you believed it would reassure Bada.
"Dang unnie, it's only been two days, and you guys are that close?" Lyn teases. "They seemed more than close. Are you guys dating yet?" Heaven asks, and you just hushed them. "Auditions are starting, please focus."
That they did, but as time passed, none of your girls made it as main dancers. You were still proud since they had all made it to the second round of reauditions. They were the biggest competitors in each class.
It was time for the leaders, and Bada's group was up first. You stood behind them while marking your movements beside Kristen. After your chat with Bada, you made it your mission to dance all out, proving that you were paying attention and that she was your number one priority. Bada's group goes first, and no one saw anyone else but Bada on that stage. She was like a bright candle standing taller above the rest, unwilling to give out. During the hip roll, you bite your lip. God, is she so sexy. You then quickly erased your thoughts when it was your turn.
As you begin, you walk up, and everyone's attention is on you and Kristen. You let the music fully control your body, and Bada watches the two of you with hawk eyes. She wouldn't openly admit it, but she wanted to keep you and Kristen in check. She liked you but also wanted to carry the tradition of holding the main dancer. The way the two of you dance made her nervous. You two filled the stage and danced like no one else was around.
The judges have a hard time choosing, so they make you reaudition. "For the reaudition, we want Tsubakill's Akanen, Aesthete's Jeon Y/n, Jam Republic's Kristen, and Bebe's Bade Lee."
You and Akanen were up first, and you were holding your ground. You knew the advantages you had in this. The stature of your body was similar to Bada's, but you had more muscles, and you knew you could copy Bada's movements to the tea. Once you end, the two dancers switch with Bada and Akanen. You watched, pleased at the two and their difference in styles. Kristen made sure to use the entire stage and show her flexibility while doing certain moves, while Bada showed much more attitude than usual. It felt captivating yet exhilarating to watch, and you got excited
The four of you stood on the stage, and you smiled hearing Shonwu's words. "We have another reaudition. It's Bebe's Bada Lee and Aesthete's Jeon Y/n." You wink at Bada, who smirks at you, feeling the adrenaline coursing through your veins.
You were grinning ear to ear and stood beside each other on stage. Once the music begins, the two of you turn to serious mode. You guys danced similarly, and everyone realized how difficult the choice would be. It was identical, almost as if you mirrored each other’s movement. It looked like Bada took over your body while you took over hers.
When you finish, you see the looks of disdain on the judge's faces, making you chuckle quietly. They talked for 5 minutes, but it felt like an eternity until Monika announced Bada had won the position.
The taller brings you into a relieved hug. You mumble how amazing she is, so she kisses you on the cheek. You were amazed by Bada, not because she beat you, but because she carried such humbleness. She held you close, and you wonder if she was so scared of not meeting everyone's expectations.
But she knew she lived up to yours.
Tumblr media
After 3 days of waiting, today was the day you all had to film for the video. You sat in the makeup chair, feeling the black mascara almost smeared on your face's temple area. You open your eyes, looking around at the other leaders. Their makeup was a mess, making you all look like you were all a part of the cult.
While Bada, on the other hand, looked like the queen you were all worshipping. Her lips looked fuller due to the applied lipstick, the gems on the bridge of her nose accentuated her sharp facial features, and you couldn’t even react how you wanted to, not wanting to mess up your makeup artist.
Your gaze was now fixed on your mirror, and you were stunned at the look. It looked tamer than the rest, the makeup artist even putting some gems around your eyes. You were confused but didn’t question it, being a little happy you had something special going on.
Bada's makeup was completed first, and she took some mirror photos to capture her beauty. You had sneakily gone beside her, comfortably putting your arms around her waist. She flinched, "what are you doing?" She asks.
You just mumble into her shoulder, "Just take a picture," your deep voice giving her chills. She was sure glad she had layers of makeup on her face, or else you could see the blush forming rapidly. You continue to take photos, some even with you being in front of Bada, due to your height, arms wrapped around your neck, while acting as if she was gonna give you a peck on the cheek, yet she couldn't, afraid of getting her lipstick on your face.
"Filming begins in 5!" Everyone was told, and you all made your way onto the set.
Everyone crowded around on set when the camera started rolling, and you all marked your positioning. Kang Daniel made an announcement as filming progressed, but none of the leaders paid any mind about it, just focusing on their jobs. The ending scene had you, Bada, and Kristen dancing together, and you circle around each other being part of Bada’s idea. She blows on her thumb, insinuating she blew out the lighter.
When monitoring the entire thing, your eyes only watched Bada. You whistled when seeing her face and called her hot so often that the dancer tried to cool herself down by thirsting on her ice-cold water.
The shoot was complete, and you were excited to remove the makeup. Bada sees your bare face and how precious you look without all the fixed production all over you. Your long hair was messy, and you wore a navy blue tracksuit. You had texted her while getting ready to go, offering her a ride home, which she openly accepted, and asked her to meet you at the parking lot.
During the ride back to Bada's place, you notice the lip-biting and calmly tell her, "You know I'm here for you, right? If you just wanna get something off your chest, I'm all ears." She admits she was scared in a shaky voice. Everyone had worked really well on set. Bonds and friendships were being made left and right. Bada couldn't help but worry over her choice of worst dancer. You had thought about it, too. It was about to come down to the tiniest things when making a choice, but you just laid your hand on Bada's thigh, rubbing it in comfort, "When the time comes, I know you'll make the right decision."
You pause a little and joke, “even if it’s me.” You say, lifting up her mood. The both of you knew well in yourselves that she wouldn’t pick you. Really, she couldn’t even if she wanted to. Bada gave you many ways to shine: the makeup, the outfit, and center position in the final scene. There was almost no way she could pick you without looking like the craziest person in the world.
You drop her off, and this time, as a goodbye, you kiss her cheek, "I'll pick you up on Friday? So we can go on set together?" and she just obliges with a nod, not trusting anything to come out of her mouth because of your kiss.
Friday comes, and you pick Bada up from her place. That was after you had stopped by a coffee shop getting you two some bitter iced Americanos as you learned it was Bada’s favorite.
"You didn't have to, Y/n," she says as you hand her the coffee, "But I wanted to." She smiles as she joyfully sips on the drink. You had your music on the radio, with Bada and you singing to each other as you let her dance crazily while trying to drive safely. The car was full of laughter before the nerve-racking day, and it kept Bada's mind off it for some time.
As you make it to the building, you grab her hand and walk hand in hand-into the building. People notice the sight of the two together, and the teasing again erupts as you're both talked about by other crews, even your own. When the two of you separate ways, you see your team of younger dancers grinning your way. "Please tell me the two of you are dating now," Aria says, giggling beside you in the hideout. "You seem more excited about us getting together than we are," You kid.
"Unnie, you have to ask her out? What if someone beats you to it?"
"You mean if someone beats Bada-unnie to it." Lyn and Enyo argue, and you just smirk. "I don't think either of that will happen," you say with pure confidence, and your team shrieks in anticipation.
Everyone gets ready to head to the main stage, but you pull her aside when you see Bada walking in front of you. She looks at you anxiously, and you take both hands into her grasp, trying to shake the nerves away. "You'll make the right choice. I know you will," you tell her as you caress her face and kiss her forehead, which causes you to have to fix her beanie a little. She nods while deep breathing, "You're right, you're right." She tells you but repeats, seemingly trying to reassure herself of what will happen.
You were the last ones to the fight zone, but rather than receiving the teases and comments, it was dead silent. The tension was getting to everybody. This was for the first mission, and it was for the sake of their teams. It was terrifying, to say the least.
The videos started with the rookie class, where Rena was the main dancer. While watching, everyone was energized, the rookies boosting the mood of the studio. You watched the youngest, Lyn, who looked like she had the most fun while dancing to the high-energy pop song. When the video ends, you smile at Lyn, patting her thigh.
"You did so well, Lynnie," you tell her, and she tightly wraps her arms around your neck, giving you a quick cuddle in the crook of your neck.
As you watched the other videos, you never expected anything less from your team. Everyone did their jobs and did it right. Enyo and Heaven could be seen in the sea of dancers, and that told you enough. The air shifts when Mannequeen's Yoonji and Waackxxxy pick Kyma and Cheche as the worst dancers. The younger girls were asked to speak, but almost nothing came out. So Kang Daniel reverts the attention to Bada, "Bada-nim, what can you say?"
She picks up the mic and finds the right words, "I'll just have to consider this when choosing whose worst dancer is in leader class." Your mind spiraled at Bada's relaxed manner as she nodded, adding salt to the wound. Mannequeen was already down by 100 points. They couldn't afford any more losses right now.
Aria was whispering about their problems with you. During the video, everyone enjoyed it. The Lusher and Latrice duo made you proud of both girls. Latrice's solo in the end and Aria's center moment made you glad.
But while talking about the sub-leaders, the mood was still uneasy. "It seemed like most of us got along, other than Latrice and Downy. But Redlic did seem like she had a lot of say behind the scenes about Kristen being there helping Latrice help direct the video." You nod, understanding the circumstances now. If Kristen was there for support and threw ideas around, you didn't see the big issue. You assumed the other sub-leaders were questioning Latrice's leadership the entire time. Jam Republic then discussed who to pick, and you hear several names thrown around until you hear one of the girls saying a word that began with an 'R.' So you knew even before announcing who it was.
"The person I pick as the worst dancer is Redlic," by all means, after what you heard, you weren't even shocked by her choice. If you felt disrespected, you'd do the exact same thing.
It was now the leader's turn, and your hand felt sweaty. You knew in your heart you did well, and there was almost little to no chance of being the worst dancer, but you worried for Bada, not knowing if she'd be able to take the reality of her choice.
Everyone watched, and the crews were in awe. The way it was filmed, the dance, the vibes, it was too good. In the ending scene with you, Kristen, and Bada, everyone cheered, giving you all a standing ovation. You bow while seated, showing your respects, but it is finally time to pick.
Bada chats with her team and you. You look at her, feeling your chest getting heavy. She turns around and brings the mic to her mouth, "The leader I pick as the worst dancer is... DeepNDap Mina Myoung."
Kang Daniel asks for some words from Mina, but as she cries, your eyes never leave Bada's, seeing the tears falling down her cheeks. Your heart ached at the sight as her members tried to calm her down quickly. Never in a million years did you want to see Bada cry out of sadness. All you wanted to do was run up and give her the warmest hug you could.
Bada's eyes meet yours, and they plead for you to be near her. You bite your lip with a nod, getting frustrated as the time felt like it was going too slow for your liking. Even when your team ranked second, your mind was tunnel visioned on the tall dancer, and when you heard "Cut" from the director, you ran over to Bada. She stands up and lets your body fall into hers.
You swayed her body, and she relaxed, leaving her chin on her shoulder. "There were no wrong choices. You picked what you felt was right." The hug lasted forever, but you took her to the Aesthete room when you pulled her apart. The sad girl stood there as you whipped her tears away with a soft tissue and smiled a little.
"What are you smiling at, huh?"
"How pretty you are," she simply states, and you laugh. You grab her face, pecking her with light kisses, and she giggles. The tickling feeling makes her swoon over you. You then wanted to ensure you sealed the deal, giving her soft kisses on the lips.
For some reason, this doesn't surprise Bada. She takes it with open arms, even reciprocating it. "I don't ever wanna see you cry like that again," you tell her sincerely, but she laughs. "With you? I doubt I ever will."

You really should know about Storm "Daniel"
Unlike how much all of us Greek blogs notify our tumblr communities about the regular (at this point) arsons wildfires afflicting Greece, we did not say much about the floods the country has been suffering from right now. There was a mention here and there and I even made a joke post as the storm was starting but not a lot of stuff in general. So, I think there's a couple of things you should know and I feel like I could address about it and actually it's not just about Greece. So I believe this could interest a lot of people and it should be something known worldwide.
In the beginning of September there was an alarm about an extreme weather phenomenon forming above the Ionian Sea at the west of mainland Greece. In truth, the phenomenon was not caused by the climate change. It was just a very rare occurence where a high pressure atmosheric system was sandwiched between two currents of low pressure. Low pressure systems are the ones resposible for stormy weather while high pressure systems generally create stable weather. As the low currents encircled the high pressure system, the storm that had started forming became unusually stable for a storm. As a result, the storm moved northeast above Thessaly and other regions of the central part of Greece and... just decided to stay there for an indefinite amount of time. Furthermore, because it's September and the Ionian Sea had warmed up throughout the summer, the medicane (Mediterranean cyclone) gained tropical features as it was forming, pushing its intensity to extremes unknown to this area.
The storm remained above all of central Greece for about 4-5 days but at the meantime it was causing side-storms in neighbouring countries, such as Bulgaria and Turkey. Both countries suffered from floods causing damages and deaths.
Tumblr media
Istanbul, Turkey (CNN).
Tumblr media
Tsarevo, Bulgaria (CNN).
Four people died in Bulgaria and seven in Turkey.
But like I told you the core of this was exactly on top of Greece's central mainland and islands. So what happened there? I happened to experience this shit first hand. My recollection of it is that it was unlike any other storm I had experienced before. My knowledge on meteorology is not very advanced, however I believe due to the high pressure part, there were actually no winds at all - or they were insignificant, so it wasn't like what you might have in mind as a conventional cyclone. It was a rainstorm but it was like a rainstorm from hell. The crucial part is that in Greece summer violent rainstorms may last for about five minutes but certainly not for five days nonstop. There was no pause, not even for a second. It kept pouring and pouring in indescribable volumes, without decreasing or slowing down, not for a moment. The fourth day it started taking short breaks.
As a person with a phobia of lightnings since childhood, I kept wearing earplugs throughout all these days. For four days, ten seconds did not pass without at least one lightning shrieking exactly on top of our heads. In the end, I am dead serious, I think my lifelong phobia has been cured somewhat due to this extreme exposure that eventually had a numbing effect. I think only the first day there was a record of 7,000 lightnings. I believe there must have been dozens of thousands overall. The lightnings also caused fires but the downpour was so overwhelming no fire could ever stand a chance.
Whether during or after the rains, what I was seeing outside was post-apocalyptic. The only thing missing was the zombies. It really looked like a background from a videogame, including a constantly lit up sky. I was not in danger though people dear to me were. The worst for me was a huge fall in the quality of living but that doesn't matter. The rains caused severe destructions across cities and villages. They caused floods, they broke bridges, they broke a massive number of roads, they made walls collapse, they destroyed springs, they damaged water and electricity outlets entirely, they drowned flocks and flocks of animals, they destroyed mountainous and coastal villages alike, they made cars float and fly over each other and they uprooted houses.
Tumblr media
Village in Mount Pelion, Greece.
But that's not the end of it. Four days later, the storm moved southwest towards the Ionian sea, basically to the place of its original formation. It side-swept over Athens in the meantime, flooding the city, but that doesn't mean much since I could cry and Athens would still flood with my tears. Anyway. AFTER the storm left, the floods caused by it started multiplying and expanding. Picture that: a crystal clear sky, a bright sun and your phone screaming state alerts about evacuating your village or town because a lake has launched at you! Here's the thing: Thessaly is a massive plain surrounded by a ring of mountains. Half of those downpours fell right on the lowlands causing floods and destructions the first days. The other half however fell on the mountains, filled the streams heading down and they all met up and filled the lakes and the large river of Thessaly, Pineios and they all basically exploded the next days. Pineios especially exploded both in its western and eastern part, sinking the entirety of Thessaly's plains under water. As a result, floods were actively taking place days after the storm had ended and the weather was good. The phenomena have only started subduing since yesterday.
Tumblr media
The overflowing of the river, trapped by the mountains.
Farmers won't be able to work this year and next year is questionable as well. There are huge concerns about various epidemics breaking out as more and more dead animals are found in the waters. Entire villages are under the water. There are estimations that some villages in west Thessaly might have been lost forever and their residents will have to move elsewhere. Sixteen people have died from the rainstorm and the floods.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Actual villages in Karditsa, Greece.
A more longterm danger is that the ground received such an unnatural amount of water that it might have been severely eroded and destablised, making it vulnerable to natural disasters I don't want to utter. Many roads are either broken or bloated and Thessaly has been cut out from communication and transportation with the rest of the country. To this day, there are maps guiding people how to drive from North to South Greece and vice versa by entirely skipping Central Greece! (Hint: they will have to drive through Epirus, aka western Greece.) The first days there was also complete isolation from what was happening in the country and the world and also the very regions we were in as we had no electricity and our only chance was getting a call from somebody being elsewhere and telling us what is going on.
Tumblr media
Volos, Greece (CNN)
Many regions have received within 2-4 days 55 times their monthly amount of rain or more than twice the yearly amount. Greek meteorologist Christos Zerefos estimated that such a phenomenon occurs every 300-400 years. Meteorologists were alarmed internationally - with Germans and Americans reportedly saying they hadn't studied such a phenomenon again in their career. Its intensity was record high in the history of Greece and right in the top of Europe's as well. They also agreed that such a phenomenon would be devastating even if it had hit the most advanced and prepared country.
BUT THIS IS NOT THE END. The weakened Daniel seemed to slowly move towards South Italy but it decided to take a turn and headed south towards Libya and Egypt. Quite possibly, as the storm was once again travelling across the warm Mediterranean Sea, it was rejuvenated and gained even more tropical traits. Eventually, the medicane hit Libya with unprecedented force.
Tumblr media
The cyclone travelling from Greece to Libya.
The toll it took on Libya is unspeakable. As I am writing this,
More than 5,226 people are killed and more than 10,000 are currently missing.
Like, can you wrap your head around what I am talking about? I don't see this shit being acknowledged enough across the world. I am checking this again and again, to ensure I am reading this correctly.
Daniel has officially become the deadliest medicane on record.
Tumblr media
Eastern Libya, from Al Jazeera.
In the meantime, Greeks found opportunities to practice their favourite sport: political infighting. People who weren't even here when hell broke loose say that if this or that was properly done, we would not have problems at all. I even saw an idiotic Greek expat comment how "we got drowned in a little bit of rain". The truth is we should bloody thank our lucky stars and I say this with the entire awareness of half of Thessaly being currently underwater. It is true that Greek governments and people have done so many things badly, like building on top of streams and rivers, changing rivers' natural route, drying up natural lakes and all that shit that guarantees you are going to have massive problems once a serious storm breaks out. Also, the disaster revealed that there was once more a very questionable management of all the money given by the EU for anti-flooding measures after a previous flood (Ianos). Of course, I would be happy if at last we viewed this disaster as an opportunity to improve ourselves and the management of our land, however whatever happened these days wasn't the fault of anyone in particular. On the contrary, A LOT worse could have happened. A lot. Maybe Libya is not an indication because if Greece is not used to such extreme rain phenomena, then Libya is probably ten times less used to them, however we should not forget that this monster was STUCK at least five days over the heartland of Greece. For this alone we should damn be thankful we did not get it any worse and that the land endured in any way and of course now we have to correct old mistakes as well but let's do it united and determined and without wasting time once more in pointless infighting, which in this case might even be unfair. (In fact I think the thing we should blame the state the most about was not making it clear beforehand that this was going to be unprecedented, not just "very severe". They probably didn't want to cause panic and mayhem but still. We should know.) Of course I am not talking about how the state will treat the afflicted regions from now on, which is entirely its responsibility. And we should stand next to Libya. Greece has its wounds to mend but it should absolutely provide support to Libya. We know what this freak phenomenon was like.
I know this text is long but please consider reblogging this. We should know what happens on our planet. Thousands of people are dead from a freak phenomenon devastating regions across lands and seas. Also forgive any mistakes I might have made although I believe the information is correct for the most part. I didn't speak more about Libya because I don't know enough to analyze the situation as much. Perhaps there are ways of supporting the country too. As a last note, this phenomenon was not freakish because of the climate change - it was just a very unusual occurence. However, the - otherwise normal - warmth of the sea did feed and intensify the storm and the climate change might in the future cause these super rare, accidental phenomena to become more frequent.

Heck speaking of that last ask, whose to say even for Dick’s more professional and cordial moments with those outside his family or closest allies, whose to say those aren’t a front to mask his more serious and strategic cunning to through those other people off guard if they’re suspected of doing bad?
I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ASKED THAT BECAUSE YOU'RE SPOT ON!!!!
This actually happens in canon but this time it's within the family.
In Batman and Robin Eternal the whole Batfamily is forced to a clean up a lethal mess that Bruce wasn't able to solve during his and Dick's days. Their opponent is a woman named "Mother" for which she is aptly named because her brilliance and manipulation were so high that Bruce was forced to admit defeat, unable to deal with her.
During the investigation, the rest of the batfamily is blissfully unaware of Tim's actions, histories, and secrets-except Dick.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While leaving the rest of the family in the dark to avoid raising suspicions, he goes to get some answers.
Of course he would never betray his family's trust without some evidence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Jason and Stephanie are busy yelling at each other, Tim quietly sneaks away to answer a call by "Mother." Dick is at the Drake's while this is happening thus indicating that both Dick and Tim have their own share of secrets and battle plans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He asks questions about Tim to his parents as if he's never met Tim before. Someone should get this man an Oscar.
Of course everything goes to hell when an operative of Mother's shows up and starts firing at Dick. Tim's mom utters a codeword that isolates her and Jack and also notifies Tim. Dick neutralizes his opponent.
Tumblr media
And then Tim shows up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"It's your secrets, Tim. I respected your privacy. Never looked too close, until that became a luxury I couldn't afford...I thought you weren't one of Mother's children. Hoped you weren't. But I had to know."
Tumblr media
While Tim is rightfully hurt, but the thing is-they can't trust anyone right now because Mother, their enemy, is inseparable from the batfamily. She gets into people's heads and uses them as operatives over their entire lifetimes from childhood to adulthood. And first and foremost, Dick is a detective. It's ingrained into him to identify any threat and act accordingly.
This scene is extremely important because Bruce was almost killed by Mother and Dick loves Bruce. For his part Bruce almost killed their world just so Dick could live and reversely, Dick would do anything to make sure Bruce was safe.
But here's where Dick's manipulation and cheerful demeanor come into play. The batfamily has no idea how good Dick is at manipulating people.
When Dick runs off to do this, they only say
Tumblr media
They have no idea.
Dick never does anything without a plan, a backup, and a safety net. The only mistake in their understanding is that while they think that Dick looks for a safety net second, they don't know that Dick's already created his own net and the one they see is the one Dick tossed out to his allies when he needs them to catch him.
Even now, Tim only found out because his mom activated the alarms in his house. If Dick's enemy hadn't blasted in and opened fire at him then it's suffice to say that everyone would be none the wiser about his little side quest.
I don't think the batfamily will ever realize how cunning he is. They see him as a kind older brother who is too adherent to Bruce's rules. Afterwards Jason makes fun of Tim in an older brother way by implying if he's mad at his mommy lol.
The DC vs Vampires and why every single member of the family was blindsided was because they underestimated him and never expected it of him. That's how good of a manipulator Dick is and that is why they will never know.
Tim once said Dick was "ranting and raving" in Arkham during Future State but for someone who had supposedly lost his mind, he still was the reason they defeated the government and came out on top. Future State: Nightwing is a peak example of Dick's genius when it comes to controlling people even if it seems like lunacy from the outside.
Everyone sees him as the nice one and Dick is the nice one of the family but when his family's life comes into danger he will unearth any secrets that he let you have in order to keep them safe.
So basically he'll let you do anything: keep secrets, lie to him, ignore him, but if you endanger his family he is coming for you because as the song lyrics goes-
"I may be next to you but you don't know I'm undercover."
And that is what makes his character so excellent. The greatest spy and threat the good has ever had.
This is my favorite personality trait of his because he's the James Bond and Mata Hari of DC.

Radiostatic week 2024 Day 2: Vintage
Vox had a really hard day and just wanted to enjoy some free time and relax. Alastor, on the other hands just wanted to discover who was listening to his radio emission at the V tower.
Tumblr media
Vox could barely keep his eye open right now, and the pile of energy drinks he drank wasn’t helping at all. The Overlord worked all night and all day, only taking a break to eat once in a while. It wasn’t like he wanted to work that much, but it needed to be done, and it wasn’t some assistant that would be able to fix everything for him.
Between doing his job, helping Velvet to organize her first Gala, and calming Valentino down he didn’t even have a single moment for him! Or at least he hadn’t until now! With a precious box in his hands, he walked with a quick step to his bedroom, not wanting to see anyone tonight.
The door finally closed and he allowed himself to sigh, relieved. Finally, he could let down some pressure off his shoulder and just relax a bit. Vark happily came out of his aquarium when he noticed his master was finally here.
“Oh, Vark! They didn’t even let you out of the room? I swear, these coworkers! Don’t worry about it, they’re fired. I’ll find new people to take care of you.” The TV demon said, petting his pet with love.
When the shark saw the box he happily waved his tail, knowing that this box was the only thing that let his master relax and rest. With a few more pets and an entire bowl of threats, the shark started purring happily.
Vox smiled at the view and while one of his hands was petting the tummy of his shark the other was opening the box. Inside was an old retro radio that only belonged to the 30’s. It was covered with dark wood and in a perfect state, even the varnish was intact. It was a special edition he paid a small fortune to get his hands on.
If anyone knew what he was about to do this would be in every journal and TV show that existed but here in the safeness of his bedroom, no one would dare to disturb him. Even Val and Velvet knocked before coming in and if they came his alarm system would notify him.
Vark snuggled against his master, searching for the best and most comfortable spot before curling himself against the TV demon. Vox smiled at the adorable scene and turned the radio on.
*******
“-And with that dear auditors let’s conclude our weekly meeting! I shall leave you with this amazing song by Victor Youngs and his orchestra. Stay tuned!” Alastor declared cheerfully in his micro.
Something was getting him really happy today. When he was broadcasting he found out that the signal of his radio emission was coming out from the V tower. Now he didn’t know from whom but the idea of someone working for or with Vox listening to his emission made him really excited. Oh, how he would tease the TV Overlord about this once he’ll find out who’s listening to him.
It wasn’t the first time this signal was coming from the tower. When he perceived it for the first time Alastor decided to let it pass. It was probably a mistake or something like this, an employee could totally make some even if they worked for Vox, and the Overlord was quite meticulous when it came to his work.
But now it has been several times already, and even when he changed the time of his emission, the signal was always here. He really needed to know who listened to him so dearly.
With a snap of his fingers, he created a shadow portal, leading him to the source of the signal. For an unknown reason, it stayed on even when the emission was over, which sounded strange. What would that employee listen to if the emission was over? Only he had this canal.
The apartment or rather the loft was really huge. It couldn’t belong to any employee of VoxTech, perhaps of one of the Vees? This was even better! Just what kind of face would Vox do if learned that his colleagues listened to him every week? Oooh, this would be priceless!
The Radio demon followed the train of the radio-specific sound that could be heard in the entire loft. His shadow was nowhere to be found but it wasn’t a surprise, the little rascal tended to do whatever he wanted these days.
Humming an air of jazz Alastor walked to the source of the radio sound, this was funnier than bothering Vagatha! With a cunning smile, he entered the room. It was really dark here and except for a big shape on the bed, he couldn’t distinguish anything else.
He approached the small radio and lightened it with his micro-cane. It was one of the most beautiful radios he ever saw and he was once a very well-known radio presenter. It was polished, varnished and clearly cleaned often. It was a collector model from Earth when he was still alive. It must have required a lot of work to keep it in such a state, he was impressed.
“Well, dear follower, I'm more curious than ever to learn who you are.” The radio demon whispered, looking at the radio fondly.
A small and quiet muffled sound came from the bed, his fan was asleep, curled against something but he couldn’t see exactly what it was yet. The red Overlord turned the radio off, causing the person in the bed to move and whimper, now clearly uneasy by the silence or rather the absence of radio sound.
“So I’m giving you some peace uh? I won’t lie, it is quite unusual for me but if it’s for you, dear admiration I guess I can give you a personal show.” The radio demon said suddenly moved by the stranger curled in his bed.
“Mmmh Al just keep talking…” The stranger suddenly said in his sleep with a voice Alastor could recognize everywhere.
The radio demon put the light of his radio cane on the shape only to see Vox curled against some kind of shark and asleep. Now if it wasn’t a surprise! Vox, his old rival, his nemesis, his Vox, was the one who listened to him every show and kept the radio on for hours. Alastor was shocked.
Vox hated vintage, he screamed it at him for more than enough time. To be honest he was giving it back to him quite well but still. The TV Overlord was the last person Alastor imagined listening to his shows. The room was suddenly so silent. This wasn’t funny anymore but it tickled his curiosity. Why was Vox listening to him like that and why would he find comfort in it?
“Al…Don’t leave again please…” The TV demon whimpered while still asleep, curling closer to his pet.
Now Alastor wasn’t sentimental. Hell, he was the least sentimental guy in Hell if you asked Husker! But seeing this? Seeing Vox curled on himself, trying to find comfort in the presence of his pet and his voice? It was touching something in him, something he didn’t like at all.
“Oh Vox…”
Vox was a powerful Overlord, the strongest behind him. They often had to stop fighting because none of them could defeat the other. He was strong, smart, ambitious, and charismatic. Seeing him in such a state seemed unnatural and wrong.
“I’ll stay. I won’t leave like that again. Don’t worry stupid TV.” The red Overlord said, petting the edges of the screen of the other demon. Oh no, he wouldn’t leave him after that.
“You’ll never have to feel this miserable again.” The radio demon said before gently kissing the forehead of his rival.

Thank you for the request! I know this has been sitting in my inbox for weeks, I have just been very busy. For the love of god, someone please tell me how to do the dark sectioning line so my posts look nicer.
Thranduil x Reader
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of the Middle Earth Universe. I will change up some things about the Woodland Castle, just to make it fit this more.
Summary: The Elvenking fussing over his sick beloved.
______________________________________________________
Tumblr media
It started out you were feeling a slight headache after breakfast. You decided not to ignore it, thinking you needed some water and fresh air. After a cup of cold water, you let your guards know you would be heading outside to the gardens to walk around and get some air.
They stayed a few feet behind you, allowing you some sense of privacy here. You walked around leisurely, enjoying the beautiful hanging leaves of the weeping willows, the pretty scent of the roses, and the caws of the birds. The breeze was kind to you, sweeping your stray hairs out of your face and gently tickling your pointed ears. You breathed in and out deeply a couple times before you felt a strong wave of nausea hit you, you stopped in your tracks for a second. Hand going up to your collarbones, hoping this will pass.
"Is everything alright, my queen?" one of the guards called out to you.
You didn't know what to say or even if you could say anything as the bile in your throat couldn't decide whether to come up or go back down. You felt your body start to heat up a bit at the discomfort.
You brought your hand down from your collarbone down to your side and turned around to face the guards.
"I think I will head to my chambers and lie down actually," you responded, walking back from where you just came.
The guards nodded their heads and stood to the sides to let you walk past them, you tried not to walk too quickly, lest someone become alarmed. You strode down the various walkways until you reached your chamber doors, the guards leaving you there. Your hand grasped the door handle before you felt another wave of nausea, this time almost coming completely up.
You turned your head to the side and noticed one of the maids down the hallway chatting with a cook.
"Marian," you called out as strongly as you could.
The elleth ceased her conversation and walked briskly over to you, "Yes, my queen?" she asked attentively.
You swallowed as another round threatened to come up. "please fetch a healer for me," you said, hand turning the doorknob and slowly pushing it open, "and please notify the king that I won't be able to join him in the throne room today," you said calmly and quickly.
Marian nodded her head, wringing her hands together, but then spoke, "Yes my queen, I will be quick about it." she gave a curtsy and then was on her way.
You pushed yourself into your chambers, grabbing a carafe and shakily pouring yourself another glass of water. You drank the glass before setting down the cup and then held onto the table to kick off your shoes. You were starting to feel weak and the overheating you were feeling was beginning to make you feel freezing cold. It was late autumn, the fire in the hearth was roaring, but not chilly outside, or maybe you just didn't notice it. Now that you think about it, the guards were wearing wool cloaks.
You pulled out your jewelry and set it on the table before clumsily making your way to the bed. You pulled back the lush blankets and furs, crawling into the warmth of the shared bed. Though your favorite comfort was elsewhere. You sank into your spot and pulled the blankets over you, feeling a shiver now begin to take over your body.
You must have slipped out of consciousness for a few moments for the next moment you felt a hand on your forehead and the chamber doors being flung open.
"How is she?" you heard a deep melodic voice ask.
"I just arrived moments before you my king, she seems to have a fever of some sort." the healer replied to your husband.
Your eyes opened to see your husband who began to sit down on the foot of the bed, his hand reaching down and rubbing your shin over the blankets. He gave a small smile that he only reserved for you.
"You have a fever, my queen, are you feeling nauseous at all?" the healer asked.
You nodded your head, "A headache as well, I went for a walk in the gardens hoping that would help but instead, I started to feel worse." you explained, pulling the blankets up to your chin.
The healer hummed in response, "I believe you may have an autumn fever, it runs rampant in these parts for whatever reason."
Thranduil quickly darted his eyes to the healer, "That's all you can come up with?" he growled.
"Thranduil," you began.
"I've seen this hundreds of times my king, it's easy to spot and easy to treat. Her Majesty is not the first person this week to have this." the healer explained.
Thranduil opened his mouth to say something else before you cut him off, "Thank you, sir, can I please have something to relieve me of these symptoms?"
"Of course my queen, I will be back momentarily." the healer said with a bow before heading out of the chambers.
You looked back at your husband who was still rubbing your leg, "You don't have to worry about me or leave whatever it is that you were doing." You said, nudging him with your foot.
He nodded scooting up on the bed to sit next to your torso, "You are my love and my queen, I will always worry for you," he said taking your hand into his and rubbing it with his thumb.
"You and the realm will be just fine for a few days while I recover." you reasoned with him.
He smiled and leaned down to give a quick peck to your lips. "Well, then I will be right here by your side for the next few days."
"No, you need to run the realm," you protested still shivering.
"You just said the realm will be just fine, and I quite agree," he said kicking off his boots and taking off his cloak.
"Yes without me," you replied as he crawled over you onto the other side of the bed pulling back the blankets and getting underneath with you. He pulled you close in a cuddle.
"What are you doing? And what if you get sick?" you asked, settling into his warmth.
"Keeping you warm and if I get sick, we can be sick together," he said placing a kiss on your head, rubbing his hands up and down your body.
"How romantic," you chuckled before sleep took hold of you.

I live in an expensively shitty apartment I can just imagine that the one time Yves comes to sleepover, the fire alarm goes off at 3 in the morning and immediately wakes me and him up (it does that a lot)
I feel like he would be PISSED
Did you know he doesn't need sleep? So he would be more pissed at the fact that you're losing precious shut-eye over it. He would already be awake, and off researching what's constantly making it ring. Is it faulty? Is it because of a particular tenant or a group of them?
He would first complain about it to the group managing the property and politely request them to fix it, considering that you paid an exorbitant amount of money to live here. Yves will have everything in writing and all the evidence that it is a nuisance to everyone there.
If that doesn't work, well... You would receive an email a week after, notifying you that the building is under new management, the fire alarm has been fixed, or the tenant that's been causing it has been evicted. And that your rent is significantly lowered.
Yves would absolutely lower it to zero and reveal that it was his doing, but he didn't want to scare you off. He didn't want you to know that he went so far as to buy out the entire rental company, controlling other properties that you have only seen in their catalogs. At the end of the day, you will freak out no matter how much you moan about wanting to live like the filthy rich and how much you think you will handle it well.
Because you're not born in it, you wouldn't get used to such ridiculous use of wealth.
You wouldn't get used to seeing your spouse holding such a ridiculously mammoth reservoir of power over everything.
Including you.

Refurbished vs. New Fire Alarm Parts: Making an Informed Decision for Your Fire Safety System
Tumblr media
When it comes to maintaining and upgrading your fire safety system, choosing between new and refurbished fire alarm parts is a decision that requires careful consideration. While new parts offer a sense of reliability and assurance, refurbished parts can provide cost-effective alternatives without compromising on quality. The article highlights the pros and cons of both options to help you make an informed decision that aligns with your fire safety needs and budget.
Understanding Refurbished Fire Alarm Parts
Refurbished fire alarm parts refer to components that have been previously used but have undergone a comprehensive restoration process to ensure their functionality and reliability. These parts are carefully inspected, repaired, and tested to meet industry standards and safety requirements. The refurbishment process may include cleaning, replacement of faulty components, calibration, and quality assurance checks.
The Benefits of Refurbished Fire Alarm Parts
One of the primary advantages of choosing refurbished parts is the cost savings they offer. Refurbished parts usually come at a lower price than new ones, thereby, making them an attractive and feasible option for consumers having tight budget. Additionally, opting for refurbished parts can be an eco-friendly choice, as it promotes the reuse of functional components, reducing waste and environmental impact.
Considerations for Choosing Refurbished Fire Alarm Parts
While refurbished parts can provide cost savings, it is essential to consider certain factors before deciding. You need to ensure first that the refurbished parts come from a reputable source that follows rigorous refurbishment processes and quality control measures. Additionally, consider the age and condition of the refurbished parts, as older components may have limitations in terms of compatibility with newer systems or adherence to updated safety standards.
Advantages of New Fire Alarm Parts
New fire alarm parts offer a sense of reliability and peace of mind. They are manufactured to meet the latest industry standards and are often backed by warranties, assuring in terms of performance and longevity. New parts also offer compatibility with modern fire safety systems, ensuring seamless integration and optimal functionality.
Cost Considerations with New Fire Alarm Parts
It is crucial to factor in the higher cost associated with new fire alarm parts. While they provide the advantage of being brand new and meeting the latest standards, the upfront investment may be a significant consideration for some. Budget constraints and the specific needs of your fire safety system should be considered when deciding between new and refurbished parts.
Striking the Right Balance
Ultimately, the decision between refurbished and new fire alarm parts should be based on a careful assessment of your specific requirements, budget, and the reliability of the refurbished components available. In some cases, a combination of both options may be a viable approach, where critical components are purchased new, while less critical or ancillary parts can be sourced as refurbished.
Final Words
Choosing between refurbished and new fire alarm parts is a decision that requires careful consideration. While new parts offer reliability, refurbished parts can provide cost-effective alternatives without compromising on quality. By evaluating your needs and considering reputable sources, you can make an informed decision that enhances the safety of your fire alarm system.

The sound of Kelly’s alarm startled you awake.
“I’m sorry, did I wake you?,” Kelly rushed.
You rolled over to see Kelly throwing on his squad jacket and grabbing his duffel from the floor.
“Stay safe today, I love you,” you said, getting up to give him a kiss.
“I love you too, but you could’ve stayed in bed, y’know?” He chuckled, kissing you.
“I figured I’d check on Alexis.”
“I got that, you go back to bed.”
You crawled back into bed, now shifted to the middle because you had it all to yourself. Kelly checked on the sleeping baby and left the bedroom, quietly shutting the door behind him. Getting up for work in the morning was something you didn’t miss.
——
“Hey mom,” you called from the bedroom, waking up from the second half of your sleep, “where’s Alexis?”
“She started to fuss, so I got up and fed her a bottle,” she replied, “I hope that’s okay.”
“Thanks mom.”
“Is there anything in particular you’d like to do today?”
“I told Kelly I’d bring Alexis by the firehouse at some point today.”
“Do you need me to do anything?”
“I should be okay after I get ready for the day. I just want to get dressed, then you can go sightseeing for the day. Meet back here for dinner?”
“Sure, I’ll cook.”
“Mom, you don’t have to do that,” you laughed, pulling some leggings, a t shirt and a hoodie out of your drawer.
“I’ll always cook for you, baby.”
“Well, thank you mom.”
You changed into your outfit for the day and went to find your mom and baby.
“What’s on your list of things to see today?” You asked.
“Not really sure. I guess I’ll figure it out once I get started.”
“That’s the mom I know,” you chuckled.
“Do you want breakfast?”
“I’m gonna get the firehouse a couple dozen donuts before I bring Alexis to visit. I’ll grab something for breakfast while I’m at the bakery.”
“As long as you’re eating.”
“Don’t worry mom, I’ll have an extra donut just to make sure,” you giggled, packing a diaper bag for a full day of firehouse adventures, “Do you want a ride somewhere? I can drop you off on the way.”
“Sweetie, you’re too kind. I’ve got a rental car, I’ll be okay.”
“If you say so. Can I show you something?”
“Yes, please do!”
You led your mom to your bedroom where you showed her a onesie on the dresser.
“Future Firefighter,” she giggled, “sweetie I love that.”
“Kelly doesn’t know about it yet. I’m gonna put Alexis in it and surprise him today.”
“That’s adorable.”
“Help me get her in it?”
“Sure.”
You and your mom managed to get Alexis into her onesie.
"I'm gonna take a picture, send it to Kelly's mom," you laughed, pulling out your phone.
You snapped a quick picture and sent it to Jennifer, before loading up Alexis in her carseat.
"I guess we're off," you said, hugging your mom goodbye, "see you tonight."
"Yes, see you tonight."
You brought Alexis to your car and secured her in the backseat. Upon sitting in the driver's seat, you looked in your rearview mirror to see Alexis peacefully sleeping. A wave of happiest washed over you as you shifted your car in drive towards to donut shop.
Arriving at the donut shop near the firehouse, you were relieved to find the bakery had a drive through.
"Hi, 3 dozen donuts please," you announced into the loud speaker.
"22 dollars, drive up to the window."
Rolling up to the window, you grabbed 25 dollars from your purse.
"These for the fire station down the street? 51?" the worker asked.
"Yes, my husband is a lieutenant on the rescue squad there. This is his first shift back after having our daughter and I wanted to bring them something."
You attempted to hand her the cash.
"No, please, these are on me, I insist. They helped my mom out of her house when her kitchen caught fire."
"Wow, thank you so much, I'll pass it along to them."
The worker handed you three boxes of donuts and you buckled them into the passenger seat on your way to 51.
"We're here," you gleefully cheered to Alexis as you wrapped her in the Moby Wrap and carried the donuts into the firehouse.
"Special delivery!" you shouted, walking up the apron with the boxes.
"Babe, you didn't have to bring donuts," Kelly exclaimed, standing up from the squad table.
"Lieutenant, who are we to turn down donuts?" Joe asked, grabbing the boxes from your arms, "thank you for this."
"Don't thank me, the woman working at the donut shop down the road paid for the donuts. Apparently you guys helped her mom out of a kitchen fire."
Cruz smiled and took the donuts into the common room. Kelly came over and kissed you before checking on Alexis.
“How’s the first day back?” You asked, unwrapping Alexis.
“Good, sucks to be away from you two though.”
“I missed your pancakes this morning,” you laughed, unwrapping Alexis and handing her to Kelly.
He spotted the onesie, “where did you get this, babe?” he laughed.
“I had it made a couple months ago, figured you’d like it, you chuckled.
“Where’s your mom at today?” Kelly asked, bouncing Alexis up and down.
“Sightseeing or something. Not entirely sure. I’ll meet her at home tonight for dinner though. Any interesting calls?”
“Grease fire, no big deal. Hey, do you have plans today?”
“Just dinner with mom, why?”
“Boden’s been talking about Alexis since I got in today.”
“Let’s take her to him then.”
You walked with Kelly towards Boden’s office, Sylvie and Matt now seeing you, and following behind.
“Is that a firehouse baby I see?” Sylvie asked gleefully.
“It sure is,” you smiled, “we’re taking her to see Boden. Come with?”
“You don’t have to ask me twice.”
Kelly led the way into Boden’s office.
“Severide, is that your little one?” He chuckled, motioning to the newborn in your husband’s arms.
“Sure is chief,” he smiled, admiring Alexis.
“And how are you doing?” Wallace asked you.
“I’m doing well I think. How’s Kelly doing?” You chuckled.
“I think he’s missing you and the baby, but being back at the firehouse is doing him well.”
“Good to hear.”
“Truck 81, Engine 51, Squad 3, Ambulance 61, Battalion 25, structure fire, 1821 West Wolcott,” dispatch announced.
“I’m sorry baby, I-,” Kelly started, handing Alexis to you.
“Don’t be sorry, you’re at work,” you smiled, placing Alexis back in the baby wrap, “I’ll stick around with Connie.”
Kelly nodded and speed walked behind Sylvie, Matt and Boden towards the apparatus floor.
——
By early next morning, Kelly was home from shift. You were still asleep and your mom was taking care of Alexis.
After a rough night with little sleep at the firehouse, Kelly came home ready to collapse.
“Hey,” you groaned, swiping the hair from your eyes, “how was shift?”
“Exhausting, we were called out to a fire and an accident after you left.”
Kelly undressed down to his boxers and got in the bed beside you.
“Alexis with my mom?” You asked, laying your head on his chest.
“She was feeding her a bottle when I came in,” he laughed, rubbing your back.
He started rubbing your side and down to your hip, the tiredness disappearing into thin air.
“How long until you get cleared for... more strenuous activities?” He chuckled.
“Not for another five weeks,” you laughed.
He rolled over and laughed, “Longest five weeks of my life.”
"Don't worry, I'll make it worth your while," you rubbed your fingers around his chest.

how does one get a job telling people they can't come into a building? is there something i need to put on my resume (very contrary, good at sitting, etc) to make hiring managers find me more appealing for the role?
So my actual day job is as a security officer; I'm the supervisor for my shift.
Telling people to go away has been an integral career skill for me. Telling angry people who are screaming to leave and not come back is a job skill. The best part of my job is that it is an express part of my job to NOT BE NICE TO RUDE ASSHOLES.
Now, tbh being a contrary asshole won't make you automatically good at the job. You still have to get along with your co workers, the clients at the site you work, ect. And for access control, a good deal of it is perfectly innocuous service providers or deliveries who have all the proper permissions and training and you just make polite small talk with them as you contact their site contact and direct them back to wherever they're going.
When I applied for the job....fuck, was it 8 years ago? No, fuck, 9...when I applied for the job nine years back, the things I put on my application that caught the hiring manager's eyes were
Customer Service skills
Willing to work nights and weekends (we don't get weekends or holidays off; sites are usually manned 24/7/365. Schedules vary, but I work 12 hour shifts and that works out to 3 days on/3 off, 4 days on/4 off. I do often work holidays. Holiday pay is higher.
Multitasking skills
Can keep calm in chaotic situations
Not easily intimidated
Basic computer skills. This last one is huge. You would be amazed how many people I've had to coach step by step through saving a word document during training.
MOST of the time, I am perfectly nice and pleasant. I've received regular commendations and bonuses from the security companies I've worked for because so many people comment on how nice and helpful the security lady was. Most people who show up at sites have a job to do there and want to do it and get paid, same as me.
HOWEVER, despite that at least weekly I deal with an asshole. My shift lets me. My boss jokes that it's like rolling a pumpkin full of ground beef into a lion enclosure. Best part of my job. I once worked retail, and telling asshole dudes to get off company property before I have them removed and/or banned from every other location of the huge multinational company I am stationed at is SO excellent.
Now. The important thing to remember as well about security is that yes, a lot of it is sitting for hours watching cameras or doing rounds through the same place over and over. It can be monotonous and boring.
HOWEVER, then sometimes you get a call like "PLEASE SEND HELP THE ENGINE IS ON FIRE" from a driver getting loaded in the plant. The plant which is filled with explody shit and human lives. This happened last Thursday. That, friend, is where I earn my pay.
I did my job. Sounded alarm, notified fire team, locked down the plant to keep anyone else out, ran accountability to make sure everyone in the plant had checked into shelter areas, all that stuff. Fire was out in 5 minutes. But you have to be able to not panic in that moment when you get that call, because otherwise everything can go to shit VERY fast.
So. Hope this helps!

General Laboratory Fire Safety
If you learn nothing else about fire safety, the most important things to remember are evacuate and alert. Leave the area/building, pull the fire alarm, and call the authorities. You should only attempt to fight a fire if you have the proper training and you have first notified authorities and evacuated the building. (This is another reason why the buddy system is important, as tasks can be split among individuals. Even if you think the fire is small enough to be put out with an extinguisher, evacuation and alerting others must come first.) Isolation can also be useful when a fire occurs; closing fume hoods (if the fire is inside the hood) and laboratory doors when evacuating can slow the spread of a fire. Because of this, many organizations have regulations on when doors can be propped open and many corridors and buildings have fire safety doors that will close automatically when a fire alarm is pulled.
For a fire to occur, there are four general requirements: oxygen, fuel, a heat source, and a chemical reaction. (Note: the fire tetrahedron has begun to replace the fire triangle in fire training, which did not include the chemical reaction.) If any one of these items is removed, a fire should not occur. Proper housekeeping - a tidy environment and separation of hazards - is key to prevent fires from occurring in the first place.

Like a Shitty Little Guardian Angel
Cypher doesn’t trust Iso.
Like Chamber, his record was just a little too excellent. Served in the Chinese military, moved to a special unit and received specialized Radiant training, defected and began a search for organizations that would make “better use of his talents.” A plain story. Right at the same time that Valorant was looking to hire another Agent.
Inconspicuous and conveniently at right place at the right time…
Just enough so that it tickles the instincts in the back of Cypher’s mind.
Ah, but Cypher is getting ahead of himself. He has no concrete evidence against Iso. Chamber, on the other hand, showed up with the exact blueprints and coordinates and passwords of the entire Fracture site— including information he certainly wouldn’t have access to if he were merely an optical engineer as he described. That was blatant. Something didn’t add up there, and Cypher still hadn’t been able to figure it out.
Not so much with Iso.
Until he was alerted of a Sheriff missing from the Range Armory.
Under normal circumstances Agents could borrow equipment from the Armory for practice drills. Cypher had set an alarm to notify him of any missing equipment, on a timer of six hours or if equipment left the Range. Most of the time they were false alarms (Phoenix, please stop leaving your pistols in the locker room…), but today was different.
Cypher checked the time. A Sheriff had been removed from the Range two minutes ago, half past midnight. Definitely not during draining hours. He flicked through the security system, looking for the culprit, and found the 24th Agent on his way out of the Armory.
Curious. He was carrying the Sheriff by his side, clearly conscious that he had stolen it.
Cypher stood from his chair and slipped out of his office, deciding to tail the Duelist just in case. His own Ghost was holstered on the inside of his coat (a little exception that he technically shouldn’t have, but if anyone knew, no one had ratted on him so far.)
Iso was making his way through the corridors with decisive strides. Every few seconds, Cypher would note his pathway and check the rooms ahead to see if anything of importance might be there. Just in case, he also prepares to activate an emergency call for Sage and Brimstone. They could help if things went south.
Nothing for ten minutes. Their paths cross at about the five minute mark, Cypher intercepting from behind with Iso none the wiser.
The Duelist had passed by all the rooms housing important power banks, servers, computers, laboratories, and workshops. What was he after, then?
Cypher checks the cameras of the rooms ahead. Killjoy’s workshop, darkened. She is out on a mission now. His own workshop (yes, Cypher had ironically circled back here without intending to). Chamber's workshop, dark, the frenchman was a morning person who enjoyed early bedtimes. Omen in a room further ahead, tending to his favorite bonsai.
(He never said it was his favorite, but Cypher knew because it was the one he was always most careful with.)
Cypher leans his back against the wall, watching Iso continue his path down the hall through his cameras. The Duelist shows no interest in any of the workshops, which is a relief to the Sentinel.
Until Iso stops at the room Omen is standing in, and takes aim at Omen's skull.
Omen doesn't even look up.
Cypher curses under his breath and breaks into a run. An assassination? Why? He braces himself for the sound of the Sheriff’s fire and what he knows he must do afterwards— take out Iso, take Omen’s corpse to the medbay, and get Sage to revive him as soon as possible—
But even as he catches up to the corner, no sound has come. Only silence.
Cypher switches to his cam, where he has a good view of both Iso and Omen. The Sheriff is poin muted at the back of Omen’s head, held evenly in Iso’s hand as he stands out in the hallway. The revenant is none the wiser, continuing to clip away at the bonsai.
Iso does not fire. Five seconds. Cypher holds his breath, preemptively drawing his pistol from his coat.
But Iso lowers the gun.
Iso, for whatever reason, has spared Omen’s life. Instead, he has left a device on the table beside the Controller, one too small for Cypher to examine through the camera.
Cypher rounds the corner, leaning against the doorframe as the duelist once again enters the hallway. The Chinese man stares him down, daring him to say anything. Cypher maintains his gaze and wordlessly rolls a tripwire across his knuckles, playing innocent even though both of them know that Cypher was fully aware of the actions Iso had almost taken.
Iso returns the nod.
Good. Now Iso knows that Cypher is keeping an eye on him, and hopefully he won’t try and pull any of this bullshit again.

2013—2014
As far as everyone knew, Leon Regulus was a decent student at Hogwarts.
The accurate statement was, that Leon Regulus was the best student of his year, and to prove it now he had a Headboy badge. He was also Captain of the dueling club, and rather popular... and he didn't want his family to know.
He was still staring at his letter when Mel came down for breakfast with Lily in her arms.
"Morning," she said. "Is that your letter? We can go with the Flints—"
"Get mum," Leon said, eyes never leaving his letter.
"What?"
"Get mum," he repeated. "I need to talk to her."
Mel sat her sleepy daughter on the couch and approached. "What is it?"
The young boy reacted, jumping out of his seat and holding the letter behind his back. "Get mum and then I'll tell you!" Mel stared at him and he got even more alarmed. "Do not read my thoughts!"
"I'm not!" Mel tried to hide her laughter, chasing her younger brother around the drawing room. "I wasn't snooping! I was just trying to—"
"No, don't do that! You're too smart and you'll figure out before mum!"
"Reg—"
"Oh, bugger off, I'll do it," he complained, seizing his wand. "I'm allowed to do magic now, I keep forgetting it.."
With a swift flick of his wand, his Patronus—a border collie—ran out of sight.
"Now what, you'll avoid talking to me until Mum gets the message?" Mel smirked.
"You left a minor unsupervised—and that one likes playing with fire!" Leon reminded her as he rushed upstairs.
"Oh, Reg, don't be such a—"
Someone knocked on her door then, and Mel tensed. It'd been a whole month since Harry and Ron had gone away, and she was still waiting for news. She feared opening the door to a Ministry worker holding one of those dreadful burgundy envelopes, the ones reserved to notify the relatives of a deceased Auror.
Mel walked to the door and opened it, she visibly relaxed when she realized it was Emily Flint. "Hi, love!"
"Hi," the girl looked briefly over Mel's shoulder, she was holding her Hogwarts letter. "Is Leon still here?"
"Yeah, you want me to call him?"
"Yes, please. I was on my way already when he sent me his Patronus."
"Oh!" Mel blushed. "Oh, sorry, Emi, I think my brother made a mistake—"
"Hi, hi, hi!" Reg rushed down to meet the girl and stopped Mel from talking. "You got my message?"
"Yes," she smiles, but it looks a lot different than the way she usually grins at her friends. "I was actually on my way, I got my letter."
Regulus blushes. "Me too."
"I got great news," Emily continued, looking at them with excitement. "I'm the Captain of Slytherin's Quidditch team."
"Emily! That's brilliant!" Mel beamed.
"Dad wants to organize a dinner to celebrate my promotion, he asked me to invite you and your kids if you're, you know, in the right mood—"
"Of course I am," Mel pushed aside the little sting of disappointment when she thought of Harry, missing the milestones of people they cared about.
"We'll be there," Regulus said, looking anxious. "Mel, can you excuse us?"
She looked at her brother with a raised brow, but the boy just gave her a look to urge her to leave them alone. Once again Mel concealed her mirth and stepped aside. "Sure. I'll be in the kitchen with Lily."
Tumblr media
When Mel's mother arrived, Emily Flint was still with Regulus upstairs.
"Hey," Mel started, lowering her voice so her children couldn't hear their conversation. "I can't believe I'm asking you this, but..."
"Your brother has gone soft over Erick's oldest daughter, yes," the woman smiled. "But Mel, need I remind you it's rude to talk about other people's love lives, especially when they're young?"
Mel made a face. "I stand by what I said back then, it was wrong of you to bet on my life. But I'm not betting, now I understand why Regulus was so eager to come and spend the summer here."
"Well, he's always liked spending the summer with you."
"But this year he's barely been here at all!" Mel pointed out. "He's spent every afternoon with the Flints—with Emily. They go to the muggle town and come back at dusk, beats me what they can do there that could be considered fun for teenagers—"
"Oh, Mel," her mother rolled her eyes with a knowing smirk. "You and Harry would walk around Privet Drive doing absolutely nothing most days, and you still had loads of fun."
She smiled at the memories of her youth, a warm fuzzy feeling spreading on her chest. "So this means our Reggie has a girlfriend now?"
"I don't think Emily would date him without having her father's approval first," her mother grinned. "And we would've heard something from Erick by now if she'd asked. He would've come to you vibrating with the need to share the news."
Mel laughed, shaking her head a little. "Well, at least it's the one boy that Erick has known since baby. That ought to ease his mind."
"Might not be as lucky with the rest of his children," Emily smirked. "He could have a Mel in his home."
The woman scowled. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh, nothing. Just, you know... how every time you dated I would always find out through other people or months after it had started—"
"Well, maybe if someone hadn't bet on my love life, perhaps I would've kept them in the loop."
"Mum?" Reg's voice came from the hallway.
Mel and Emily both stopped and turned to him. Emily Flint pushed the older boy forward, and he stepped closer to them, holding his Hogwarts letter.
"Hi, boy," His mother smiled. "Everything okay?"
He handed her the piece of paper. "I'm Headboy."
"What!" Mel seized the letter and read it hastily. Beside her, their mother gasped and covered her mouth with both hands in shock. "Reggie!"
Mel pulled her brother in for a hug, her mother soon joining in. Leon laughed, face flushed, and held onto them, he was shaking.
"I didn't know you were aiming for that!" His mother exclaimed. "I mean, when you got the Prefect badge you looked annoyed—"
"He wasn't annoyed, he was stressed," Emily Flint clarified. "Layla's a troublemaker, and she was counting on him getting the badge."
"Ah, your father went through the same with us," Mel grinned guiltily. "I personally, didn't make his job any easier."
"Yes, he has a lot of stories," the girl giggled. "Anyway, if you are okay with it, I want to share my dinner celebration with Leon, I think he deserves it."
Regulus blushed and turned to his friend. "No, I already told you I don't want that!"
"I've been trying to convince him for a whole hour," Emily turned to the older women pouting. "Please talk to him?"
"It'll be fun, we can invite everyone! Harry..." Mel stopped, her husband wasn't around to celebrate with them. Emily—her mother—placed a hand on her shoulder and squeezed.
"First things first, how about we all go to Diagon Alley and get your books? I didn't get to take Mel to buy stuff for her seventh year, so we'll all have fun with it."
"Why not?" Emily Flint asked innocently.
"Mel didn't go to Hogwarts a seventh time," the boy mentioned as shortly as possible. "Because of the war." Mel and Reg shared a look, the air in the room suddenly getting a little awkward.
Emily's face got so red Mel took pity on her. "I was so ahead in my lessons by the time I was sixteen, that going a seventh time wasn't needed, if I'm honest. The war saved me the hassle of wearing uniform for yet another year."
Emily smiled shyly. "True... though I like the uniforms."
"You look nice in them," Regulus offered, grabbing her hand and pulling her out of the kitchen. "Come on, I'll walk you out, Emie."
When the teens left, Mel took a deep breath and turned to face her mother. "I'm losing it, Mum," she pouted.
Emily hugged her, having to stand on her tiptoes to reach Mel's shoulders. "Still no news from Harry?"
"No," Mel sniffed, quickly drying her tears as they parted. "I have a bad feeling about this one."
"Been a while since the last time, that's all..."
Mel pushed her hair back. "It will never get easier, will it?"
Her mother's eyes softened, seeing herself reflected on her daughter. "My sweet Mel... the war ended so long ago and you still face everything the way Dumbledore taught you." Emily cupped her face.
"Is that... bad?"
"It's the only way you Dumbledores function, I've come to realize," the woman sighed. "But if you're scared, just say it."
Mel lowered her head and closed her eyes tightly. "I'm scared."

Regulus's family tended to go big when celebrating his achievements, and somehow Rita Skeeter always made it sound way more classless and embarrassing than it actually was.
Most people had doubts when it came to the reporter, but that didn't stop his classmates from teasing him about his rich relatives' traditions. Emily and Elizabeth Flint were overly protective of him as well as Teddy Lupin and Vicky Weasley, which was nice but still just as embarrassing, considering they were all younger kids. In Regulus's eyes, it was like having an army of toddlers defending his honour.
He was complaining about all this to the only person he knew would understand how it felt to be judged by things that weren't even his responsibility: Mel.
"So what do you recommend?"
"You know what I recommend," the woman grinned. "You're bloody good at charms."
Regulus wrinkled his nose in annoyance. "But I don't want to jinx or hex other people, that is beneath me."
"Exclaimed the prince," Mel laughed a bit. "Are you sure you're a Gryffindor? I never knew of a lion who didn't like fighting. Even your professor, Neville had his fair amount of fights."
"Well, maybe I don't see the point of getting my cloaks dirty with losers's blood," he rolled his eyes.
"Ah," she smirked. "So you're a haughty one, like my dad and his uncle."
"Can you be serious for a moment and help? There is a reason why I'm not asking Mum for advice, I already know she would also choose violence."
Mel laughed good-naturedly and then sighed, a smile lingering on her expression. "I'm sorry, Leggie, most of your family is a bunch of hot-headed individuals. If you want a mellower response, call Uncle Moony."
"I thought I was talking to Mellow?" The young man smirked.
The woman laughed again. "You are, but I'm afraid that when it comes to my little brother's well-being I don't necessarily act wisely."
Regulus hummed. "So you're sticking to your first answer?"
Mel pondered, looking out the window of her drawing room. It was almost midnight, and Regulus had to go to bed soon. So did she, but lately she wasn't sleeping all that well either way.
"No..." she shook her head before glancing back at the two-way mirror she'd propped up on a pile of books. "If I were Uncle Lu... I'd tell you to pay them no mind. You have good friends willing to fight your battles—though they shouldn't—so I guess... indirect intimidation."
Regulus chortled and raised a brow, shaking his head. "You're useless."
"I think half the Ministry would disagree," Mel grinned. "But that is definitely the mellowest answer I can give you. You're Headboy now, and you have that Sultens thing about you that just screams danger when you get angry. And you have the cold-blooded Black mindset, so really, I think what's best for you is to have someone to talk to so you get all that frustration out. Someone like a Flint, maybe?"
At her knowing smile, Regulus made a face and adverted his eyes, mumbling his response. "I know what you're implying."
"Good, that was my intention."
"I won't date Emily Flint."
"Yet."
"Mellow!"
The woman opened her mouth to reply but then she heard a sudden commotion right outside her front door, like feet stumbling to a stop and then some groaning. Mel tensed and reached for her wand.
"I heard something," she said quickly. "I'll talk to you later, Reg, see you."
Mel placed the mirror face down on top of the pile of books and got to her feet, turning all the lights off with a swift hand movement the moment her front door squeaked open.
"Don't move!" She hissed, prepared to cast a hex on the person if they refused to cooperate. "Who are you?"
The person groaned again and leaned against the threshold, mumbled "Lumos!", and Harry's face looked up at her. "I'm your husband."
Mel gasped, turned the lights back on with a flick of her wand, hurried to the man's side, and lifted his face up to examine the wound on his face, messily bandaged.
"What happened?" She breathed, trying to stay quiet so the kids wouldn't wake.
"I was lousy," he winced, stepping into the house and closing the door behind him. "Don't worry, I'm not dying—just a cut."
"Harry!" Mel exclaimed in relief, wrapping her arms tightly around him. He smelled like smoke and coffee. "Where's Ron?"
"Alive, better than I look," he groaned again. "It's alright, Mel, honest. They barely got my face..."
Mel cradled his face and her gaze softened, a tentative smile coming through. "So another scar, huh?"
Harry sighed, returning the smile with irony. "Nothing new," his hand reached up and traced over the ones she had down her jaw and neck. "I missed you."
The witch hummed, brushing his hair back and helping him take off the cloak. "You look tired, I'll run you a bath."
"It's midnight—"
"I've been going to bed at two in the morning anyway," she brushed it aside. "It's nothing..." Mel grabbed his hand and pulled him upstairs, lowering her voice even more as she continued with a playful expression. "I'll join you if you want."
Harry's whole face lit up at the offer, his smile turning genuine and slightly crooked. "How could I refuse?"
