The arms are a cloudberry. They most commonly grow in the marshes and wet lands of the municipality. They are collected then exported all over Norway. The berries are first red, as represented by the red background but then ripen to a golden or orange color witch is why gold is used.

Komsa Culture: known in Norway as the Komsakulturen, this gained its name from Mount Komsa in the Alta region of Finnmark, close to which the remnants of this culture were first discovered.
