played yunli's companion mission but because i have horrible sampo brainrot all i got out of it was
#granted i had already heard about the kalevala thing before starting the mission#but yeah quick lesson for those who don't know: sampo is the name of a device in finnish mythology said to bring prosperity#and kalevala is the name of the finnish epic poem that the sampo originates from#so with how connected their names are it would be weird for sampo to NOT be connected to this planet#sampo koski#honkai star rail#honkai star rail spoilers#almost forgot that tag sorry#kittay.post

Marrassurma, God of Death (and Dreams) from The Abyssal
bonus Sol bc the hand kiss scene is cute
#the abyssal#the abyssal if#interactive fiction#mine#*23#art#marrassurma#i really want to do the pestilence thing but like. why would marrassurma do that he likes humanity + the human world :/#btw if u think marrassurma is edgy i originally thought abt marrasverisurma lol. but i was like thats way too long dude im sorry#it doesnt mean november death btw it means killing of an omen (of death) or being killed by one. google's stupid#finnish lesson ahead ig. surma can be a violent death/a killing/voluntary manslaughter/a tragic accidental death/the destroyer of something#or a poetic way to say kill. surma can ALSO be a very hard obstacle or opponent or a personification of death when w/ certain chs#and marras is just any omen of death/person who brings death/person who's about to die/any dead thing/a ghost. yeah uhh dw about it#so marrassurma can technically mean a combination of any of these but i'm using it as like. the one i explained before lol#why am i even explaining this. maybe bc im cursed with the ability to talk endlessly abt stupid shit i think is interesting

Suomen Mestari time!!!!
After finishing the A1 section in my italian/finnish learning book, before continuing into A2 territory, I wanted to consolidate my basics and knowledge and decided to get Suomen Mestari.
I'm really enjoy the book so far, it's very well structured, and I think I'm a bit of a freak because I noticed I REAALLY enjoy doing exercises on the book haha. It's just so fun.
I'm feeling very good about my learning journey, and I'm looking forward to finish this book and continue unto A2 territory. I'm also taking private speaking lessons on iTalki, which have been going well, my teacher is super sweet and encouraging and I'm really hoping to break my shyness and start speaking more :)
#also: didn't buy the book but went and printed a copy cause i already bought the italian/finnish learning book and that was already pretty#expensieve#and adding the cost of private lessons/everything i bought... im gonna save money where i can okay? haha don't kill me. i don't have#infinite money for what is a hobby right now#mine#langblr#suomitumblr#learning finnish#finnish#language learning#suomitumppu

Finally downloaded Anki for all my collected vocabularies. :)
There are so many opinions out there about how it is unproductive to study vocabulary, as in: just learning words/phrases by heart. And that might as well we true, but I honestly do not care. While I love making progress in my languages (obviously), to a even larger degree it is a process-as-hobby that I really enjoy. I have always loved doing monotonous things like learning stuff by heart, it is quite relaxing and almost meditative to me. When I was first introduced to the concept of "learning vocabulary" (Vokabeln lernen) when I started learning Latin in 5th grade I thought it meant just learning the whole page of words by heart in the order in which they are printed on the page, like you would learn a poem. I thought we were gonna have to recite it in front of the class (I used to love reciting things in front of the class). When the teacher then started quizzing people by asking for the translation of words out of order I was quite shocked and disappointed ...
Also, like. While it might not be the most efficient way to level up my skills, it's also unlikely to actively make me know less Norwegian/Spanish/etc.
#i have not forgotten about Finnish! i still love it so much!#but Spanish and Norwegian are the ones I can actually practice in real life at the language exchange#so I am focusing on these very hard recently#I still have smaller sessions for my other languages :)#even if on some days it's just doing a Duolingo lesson#Ro learns languages#Ro 2024

Ok guys, I'm going out of my eurovision mood.
Conclusion of 2023 : Nearly everyone got robbed (there are countries I believed deserved much better like Germany, Austria and Moldova and so much more- and don't get me started on Georgia not quantifying to begin with) and society hates originality.
Congrats to Sweden for winning, but I am not sure how good is that going to be for them from now on. Finland is not the only country that's upset with the results.
#we should treat Sweden like we do Uk and Germany from now on#only 0-50 points from the public MAX just to teach a lesson#jokes aside (not really but whatever) I'm genuinely happy for Sweden. good for them. But is not their song that won our heart#is Cha Cha Cha#esc 2023#eurovision 2023#with that I will stop before getting worked up over this#go stream Cha Cha Cha and support the artist the best way you can#this is the last we can do- not forget about him and support his work and Finnish music

And last of the new characters: Kivuntuoja!
Kivuntuoja, or Kipu for short, is an undead spirit previously working under Grenth, but since he left, Kipu decided to leave to experience the joys of life after so long. He likes to mingle with mortals and has a hobby of dressing a bit risque, though the reaper hood stays on at all times.
Now about the name, it's Finnish for pain bringer/bringer of pain. Pain in Finnish is Kipu, hence the nickname, but we don't have words like of/in/at and instead add letters to the ends of the words to imply the same things. For of we add an n to the end.
Now, Kipun sounds awkward so we change the letter p to a v so it sounds better, I guess? That's just something we do, change a letter to make it sound better, Idk I don't know why the language is like this, honestly.
#gw2#guild wars 2#guildwars2#kivuntuoja#and a little lesson in finnish#we can also just combine two words together to make new words#which is what i did#now idk if it would be more accurate to have the words separately like the english pain bringer#i really don't know when you're supposed to have words be together or separate#but i put them together so it would be more of a name#this facet of the finnish language is also why i tend to write several english words together#i've done this with words like eachother aswell atleast#and.. ingame? it seems to show it as incorrect hmm#i feel more tempted to do it with words where the other word is short aha..
