It's as they're wrapping up yet another potential world ending threat when Hal's voice cracks across Bruce's comm-link.

"Hey, heard everyone's still alive."

Bruce is more relieved to hear his voice than he'd ever be able to let on. "We could've used your help." It comes off harsher than he means to.

"Missed you too, Spooky." Hal sounds tired. "Any chance you can come meet me in the Watch Tower?"

It has been a solid nine months since they had last seen each other. Their ambiguous relationship meant they had sex before Hal left and Bruce pretended that he wasn't bothered by the radio silence. It was better to keep things more professional, less involved, in any case.

Bruce glanced around at the barely contained destruction around him. They might've actually come away from this incident with no casualties. Superman and Flash have doubtlessly already scoured the affected area for anyone caught in the crossfire.

"I'll come up in a few." He didn't bother asking why Hal wasn't coming down to talk to him. If he could, he would have.

"A few what?" Hal asks in exasperation. "Minutes? Hours?"

"Maybe more."

"Oh my god," Hal hisses, "you are insufferable."

The slightest of smiles twitches on Bruce's lips. "I'll be up as soon as I'm sure I'm not needed down here."

Hal looked just about as tired as he sounded over the comm. It was clear he hadn't showered in a few days, hair disheveled and greasy, tired bags under his eyes. While there weren't any apparent injuries on his body...

"You had a baby."

Babies, especially newborns, grew up fast. This baby looked only weeks old at most. If Hal hadn't joined the fight, Bruce estimated the baby was only days old, and that Hal was far from recovered.

Hal snorts. "Great deduction skills there, detective." He swallows hard. "Can you solve the rest of the mystery?"

For a moment, Bruce doesn't say anything. He stares at the sleeping baby, at its whispy locks of dark hair. He glances back up to Hal's eyes, notes the guarded look on the other man's face given away by his tense shoulders.

It doesn't take a genius to put together the fact that Hal wasn't pregnant when they last slept together nine months ago.

Bruce's eyes fall back down to the baby, chest constricting as he finds himself moving forward towards Hal. He wordlessly reaches out, and Hal responds in turn after only a moments worth of hesitation to hand over the baby.

Cradling the baby in one arm, Bruce pulls off his cowl with the other. Bruce suddenly finds himself needing to sit and finds himself sinking into the nearest available chair.

"For what it's worth, I tried to get back to Earth before he was born."

Bruce barely hears Hal, making a small hum of acknowledgement. His hand reaches to touch his son's face before freezing. He's quick to bite off his glove and drop it off to the side. The baby barely stirs as Bruce rubs his finger against his cheek. The tiniest eye peeks open, not enough to really see his eyes before it closes again and he grunts softly.

When Bruce is finally able to tear his gaze away, Hal is looking at him nervously.

Suddenly there is issues to be had with their ambiguous relationship... but Bruce doesn't really feel like getting into all of that at the moment.

"Have you..." His voice comes out hoarse, prompting him to clear his throat "Does he have a name yet?"

Hal relaxes a little. "I've just been calling him "little man" the past couple of days. Been thinking of some names, but I really thought I'd have time to talk to you first."

The thought that Hal had an entire pregnancy on a foreign planet was enough to unnerve Bruce. Hal could've died, the baby could've died, and Bruce might not have ever found out.

"Are you mad?" Hal asks after a beat of silence.

Anger was far from Bruce's mind. "Did you purposely keep your pregnancy from me?"

"It pains me that I couldn't use the pregnancy against you and you wouldn't have been able to fight back," Hal laments with a sigh, an attempt to lighten the tension. "But no. I couldn't get back home, it was out of my hands." He studies Bruce for a moment, a serious look on his face. "You're not upset at another kid being sprung on you?"

Bruce had met Damian not too long ago, all things considered. He had wanted him, back when he found out Talia was pregnant, before she lied about a miscarriage and left him. Ten years he was left out of his child's life.

"No," Bruce says, looking back down at the infant, "this is the first one I've been able to hold."

He's carried his Robins before. When Dick was still so young and tired, when Jason was hurt and could've walked it off, but didn't pass off a chance to be carried, Tim in a rush to get him somewhere safe when he got injured, and Damian as huffed and puffed about being fine, but didn't fight Bruce too hard on it. He's held Cass hard enough to hurt and she held him back just as tightly.

This was different. He never got to hold his own baby.

Bruce feels his throat constricting. He swallows hard and takes a deep breath. "What names did you have in mind?"

"Was considering maybe Thomas after your father, Tommy for short."

Bruce briefly considers it, but is very quick to decide no. "Maybe as a middle name. What about your father?"

Hal immediately shakes his head. "No. He's too young to be a Martin."

It's not like Bruce had never thought of names before, names he would've potentially given Damian... but that was for a different time.

They lapse into silence.

"Are you okay?" Bruce finally asks, taking another good look at Hal. He wasn't sure where they were going to go from here.

"Just need some rest, really." Hal rubs at his eyes. "It's been non-stop for weeks now--"

"Hal!"

In a blink, Barry is there, hand on Hal's shoulder. "Where you've been, man?"

"Oh, you know, space," Hal smiles and brightens up a bit.

"Very descriptive," Barry said with a huff. "You look like shit. You alright?"

Hal waved him off. "Yeah yeah, I'm fine." He gestures over at Bruce. "What should we name the baby boy?"

Barry glances over. "Uuhh, Finneas?" He then does a double take. "Wait, what the hell?" He immediately drops into a crouch in front of Bruce, a grin on his face as he coos at the baby. "Hey there little guy!"

Barry holds out his hands and Bruce reluctantly hands the baby over.

"He's way too cute to be your baby," Barry teases Hal before booping the baby's nose. "Am I the god father?"

Hal spares a glance at Bruce before saying, "Of course!"

Bruce didn't have any complaints anyways.

"I like the name Finneas too, Finn for short." This time Hal's look towards Bruce was seeking actual approval.

"No objections here," Bruce finally decides on.

He notices the way Barry's eyes dart between them, realization suddenly dawning on his face. "Hold up! Hal, you and Bats are a thing?"

"No!"

That stung a little.

"Well, I mean," Hal runs a hand through his hair, pointedly not looking at Bruce as he seems to reconsider. "Kinda. I don't know. Either way, yes, he's the other parent."

Barry hums thoughtfully, looking down at the baby. "So... who's last name is little Finn here gonna take?"

Hal and Bruce stare at each other.

"I carried him for nine months."

"Finneas Wayne sounds better."

Machine Gun Kelly dropped a new song, “Smoke and Drive,” which was recorded while smoking a blunt and hotboxing his car. The song shares a title with Blackbear‘s track with Yung Pinch and P-Lo.

YouTuber CrankThatFrank dropped a surprise EP he made with Makeout guitarist Tyler Young after posting a tweet aiming for 500 retweets to release it. The EP features six songs with comedic titles.

Hayley Williams released another new track from her upcoming solo debut, Petals for Armor. The new song, “Over Yet,” was written with Paramore bassist Joey Howard and producer Steph Marziano last summer, according to a recent post.

Craft Recordings announced an expanded edition of the Plain White T’s album All That We Needed, which features unreleased recordings. Reissued digitally across all major streaming and digital platforms, the album will drop on April 10th.

The 1975 released the recording of “Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America,” which they debuted live in Australia back in February. The band originally premiered the track on a radio show last year.

Green Day released a surprise EP consisting of new remixes of songs from their 2012 albums, ¡Uno! and ¡Dos!. The EP is titled the Otis Big Guitar Mix, and features remixes of the songs “Oh Love,” “Lazy Bones” and “Wild One.”

Slam Dunk Festival revealed an updated lineup after being forced to postpone the event due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The festival gave a lengthy statement updating fans on the changes.

Likewise, the Punk Rock Bowling and Music Festival announced it would officially be postponing its event. The festival will honor passes and tickets for this year’s event for the new dates, slated for May 28th-31st, 2021 in Las Vegas.

In addition, Bunbury Festival made the announcement yesterday that they are cancelling the 2020 event over the coronavirus. This year’s festival would’ve featured Twenty One Pilots, Melanie Martinez, Angels and Airwaves, and more.

It was a long night. Jason’s muscles were sore and steeped with exhaustion. He could feel scars assembling and reassembling on the crevices of his skin. His knuckles were sore and bruised. The blood from his earlier activities burned with his every movement. Despite the aching pain that stabbed at his shoulder, seeing the front door to his apartment at the end of the hall brought him a wave of peace.

He opened the front door of his shared apartment with a slight creak that tore through the silence of the night. Darkness engulfed majority of the room, the only light came from the faint blue glow of the television that pooled onto the floor. An infomercial played on the screen, something about a vacuum. A man’s overenthusiastic yet bland voice at a low, indistinct volume filled the room.

You always left the tv running into the late hours of the night. When the two of you had first moved in together, Jason didn’t really know that you struggled with sleep. He remembered waking up in the middle of the night during that first week sharing a home only to find the fire-orange glow of the street lights illuminating your absence amongst the pillows and mattress. Walking into the living room, he would see your figure curled up on the couch while your lidded and hollow eyes reflected exhaustion and the glitter of old reruns from the television. You had told him then that it helped you find sleep: the sound of overused jokes from sitcoms lost to time cutting through the quiet of the night and the static glow of the screen drowning out the wine-dark void of the room. You had told him then that it felt like finding waves divinity as it crashed onto the rocks of the mundane.

With time, Jason learned more about the little things you did, the little habits of yours. They felt like packaged blessings meant only for his eyes. Every new habit of yours he locked away in his heart so he would never forget.

Maneuvering his way through the dimly lit apartment, Jason went to the kitchen to pull out the first aid kit. He tried to make his movements as quiet as possible. The creaky floorboards didn’t help, of course. Reaching the couch, Jason placed his trustworthy first-aid kit on the coffee table. The table was cheap and old, perhaps older than himself. The edges of the ancient table were chipped and wearing away. This morning’s edition of the Gotham Gazettelay discarded atop the mahogany surface, neighboring Jason’s well-loved copy of John Donne’s poetry. If he looked closely, Jason was sure he could find a crumb or two left behind from that morning’s breakfast.

You and Jason often spent the late mornings together like that, enjoying breakfast together on the couch while you each held your own set of words that told immensely different things. But all those words meant nothing to you after all—you only ever read the Gotham Gazettefor the pictures. Just this morning, while Jason sat on the couch to read through Aire and Angels and The Sun Rising for the millionth time, you were looking at the morning’s report of the local crime, flipping through the inky pages detailing the numerous horrors that took place along with some big charity article about billionaire Bruce Wayne. Seeing the occasional tarty picture of a child with shadow-blacked eyes and black lips always darkened your features into that of a sickly, grave bird. Jason could only wonder if those pictures of missing, injured, deceased individuals spoke to you through the grainy black ink. What kinds of things were they saying?

Jason found it difficult to patch himself up in the quiet of the night. The forgotten television’s glow combined with the soft yellow of the tableside lamp proved to be horrible for injuries. He tried to be as quiet as possible, hoping his search for tape wouldn’t wake you from your dreams.

Despite his efforts, Jason heard the squeaking of the bed in the other room. From the corner of his eyes he saw the tethered white of wings.            

“Hey,” you mumbled, sleep strongly tugging at your words. You rested your body along the door frame, your head leaning on the dated moulding. You looked of a statue, delicate and mesmerizing with the dark of the abandoned bedroom hiding the shape your godly wings.

“Hey,” Jason replied softly, “I didn’t mean to wake you.”

“Do you need help with that?”

“N-no, I’m good. I can do it myself; you go back to bed.”

You walked over, dragging your feet across the floorboard, and took the gauze out his hand. “No.”

As you towered over Jason’s seated form, he couldn’t help but think of you as what you were: an angel. The faint lights of the television and the lamp highlighted your silhouette; Jason swore he saw your halo in that moment.

The room was silent, besides that of television in the background and the slow, careful breathing between the two of you. With the gauze in hand, you set to work patching up the injuries that Jason brought home. Kneeling at the edge of the couch, you held Jason’s hand and you started to clean away the blood and dirt from his knuckles. You were kind with his hand. Your touch felt light and dream-like, the way it felt to hold sun-kissed water as it slipped through your fingers. Jason sometimes felt it was a sin to touch you, to breathe the same air as you, to be next to you. You were some immortal and deific creature whose limits were boundless—you could touch the heavens easily if you desired so, yet you stayed here patching up his clumsy cuts and scrapes. Why curse yourself to a life with mortals, a life with him?

You eventually found your way on to the couch as your continued effort to patch Jason’s grazes led you to the edge of his shoulder. Jason turned to look at you as you taped the gauze to his skin ever so gently. Methodical movements never looked so tender. Your eyes met his somewhere in the silence. Soft yellow and touches of blue accentuated your being, giving you the unmistakable divine veil akin to that of the rosy-fingered dawn. The sounds of the television and the occasional car skidding down the road blurred into nothing but the transfixed beating of his heart. Jason was worried that was all you could hear too. There wasn’t a need to say anything. The lingering touch of your skin on his told a holy phrase that always managed to be trapped in his lungs.

Both you and Jason sat in the semi-silence of the late night, not a single word gracing your lips. Jason leaned forward to place a kiss on your forehead, your eyes, and finally your lips. He wasn’t holy or heavenly by blood, nor did he have wings of ivory feathers, but this was a sacred ritual even mortals could learn.

- this one is truly a depressing-tune-that-makes-you-cry sort of song, but it’s really beautiful and calming, almost submissive to the lyrics and their meaning

- Joji before BALLADS 1 is so underrated honestly. While yes, he still was trying to find his sound, there’s still some gems in there that are definitely worth listening to, like this one.

- is this one even considered a song? I treat it more like a poem being read with magical music in the background but it’s really calming to listen to :)

Saturday Nights: Khalid

- You really can’t go wrong with Khalid’s soothing deep voice and his r&b lofi style

The Girl I Haven’t Met: Kudasaibeats

- a 4 am playlist wouldn’t be complete without at LEAST one lofi non lyrical beat. You just can’t beat it.

Bubble Gum: Clairo

- this one honestly boosts the mood of “depressed angst.” The lack of bass and the rawness of just a ukulele and her voice really just slowly lowers you into a slumber.

Idle Town: Conan Gray

- I’m pretty sure I’ve put this one on another playlist for soft lofi vibes, but it really does fit so well. Listening to happy, soft songs can help you sleep better (in my opinion) and this one definitely reminds me of good memories I’ve made in my tiny hometown.

I’m so tired... - Stripped: Lauv ft. Troye Sivan

- instead of putting Paris in the Rain again (to maintain variety!) I put another one of my favorite Lauv songs to listen to for late nights. It also includes the bridge that was cut out! Extra brownie points

- this song. THIS SONG is the epitome of “hi I’m listening to lofi indie music because I’m sad” and it’s honestly one of the best things ever.

- I did a cover of this song :))))))) anyway, this song (or even better, the original version she posted before the studio recorded one) is just so magical and sad yet happy and it Billie’s voice in general makes me want to curl up in front of a fire during the winter with a cup of cocoa and just like, fall asleep right then and there.

🔥The Oscars Explains Why It Omitted Luke Perry From The In Memoriam Tribute🔥

The Academy Awards are always contentious, and not just because of who is or isn’t nominated. It seems like every year, there are always a few individuals who are left out of the Oscars’ In Memoriam segment, which honors famous actors and other Hollywood figures who’ve passed away since the previous year’s ceremony. The 92nd Academy Academy Awards was no exception, and among the actors who people felt were slighted was Luke Perry, particularly since he’d appeared in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, one of the Best Picture nominees.

Two days after the latest Oscars extravaganza, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has provided the following explanation for why Luke Perry and others, like Descendants star Cameron Boyce, were left out of the televised tribute (via THR):

The Academy receives hundreds of requests to include loved ones and industry colleagues in the Oscars In Memoriam segment. An executive committee representing every branch considers the list and makes selections for the telecast based on limited available time. All the submissions are included on Oscar.com and will remain on the site throughout the year. Luke Perry and Cameron Boyce are remembered in the Oscar.com gallery.

So evidently the executive committee in charge of putting together the Oscars’ In Memoriam list had to go through hundreds of candidates, and since the tribute is just a small portion of the ceremony (which was approximately three and a half hours this year), naturally only so many people can be shown in the broadcast. However, Luke Perry and everyone else who was submitted for the list, but didn’t make the cut, can be seen on the Oscars website.

That’s a reasonable explanation, but going a step further, let’s not discount that it was decided to omit Luke Perry because he was better known for his TV work rather than his time in movies. Sure, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was his final appearance, and people also know him from things like the 1992’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and 1997’s The Fifth Element, but he’s arguably more famous for his time on the small screen on shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, Oz and Riverdale.

Looking at the situation through that lens, it would make sense why certain other actors were omitted from the In Memoriam segment, such as Cameron Boyce, who appeared in a scattering of films during his much-too-short career, but was chiefly recognized for his Disney Channel work, especially playing Carlos in the Descendants trilogy. However, that’s trickier territory when it comes to actors like Sid Haig and René Auberjonois whose credits a more even mix of movies and TV.

Luke Perry passed away on March 4, 2019 at the age of 52 after suffering a stroke. At the time, he was playing Fred Andrews on Riverdale, and his final episode aired on April 24, with the Season 4 premiere last September killing the character off. Perry was included in the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards’ In Memoriam segment that same month.

In Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Luke Perry played actor Wayne Maunder, who performed in the pilot of the Western series Lancer that Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton guest-starred in. The Quentin Tarantino-directed movie was nominated for nine Oscars, and walked away with two: Best Supporting Actor (Brad Pitt) and Best Production Design. For this year’s In Memoriam tribute, Billie Eilish performed a cover of The Beatles “Yesterday” alongside her brother, Finneas O’Connell.
