Was thinking of what these guys would look like younger, so I spit balled it. Some of the older guys in the crew. Here I imagine them like late twenties, early thirties.

I gave Rennick a scar because I can’t help but notice one on his left side cheek. Could be a wrinkle but looks more like a faded scar to me. So obviously a bit fresher if he’s young. Just coloured in their hair colour and eyes as this was supposed to be colourless but this is what I imagine their hair colour before they turned into a bunch of grey foxes heh. (Or bald in Addair’s case lmao)

And wouldn’t you know, Finlay was a babe in her day ;)

swtd headcannons!!

Caz is a complete emotional drunk. Suze once even found him hugging a cabinet, swearing he wouldn’t leave it alone ever again.

Roy always used to bake with his aunt when he was little. The baking turned gears to cooking after Roy’s diabetes diagnosis.

Finlays son is in his late 20’s/early 30’s, and is in the Air Force.

Rennick actually has 3 grandchildren.

Caz used to run track (mostly hurdles) in school before he went to boxing, hence why he’s so fast, and can vault/jump over things with ease.

(May not be a headcannon) Raffs is an apprentice under Brodie supervision.

In the beginning of Raffs apprenticeship, he actually didn’t trust Brodie a lot, leading to Brodie promising he’d look after him.

The crew (besides Trots, McLurg, and Rennick) has all secretly created a Addair hate club. Surprisingly (maybe not), Sunil is the original creator of the club.

Muir really enjoys the beach, and tends to walk around finding shells, and ironically, hermit crabs.

O’Connor is a cat guy, and has 2 tuxedo cats back on the mainland he named Houdini and Shela.

Bruce loves sharks. He doesn’t really tell anyone else or else he will yap their ear off.

Finlay avoids the smell of onions like the black plague. She’ll only tolerate the smell if they are cooked in any way to minimize the stench.

Alex answers almost any question about his action with “your mom” when he’s with Sunil

Sunils mother died when he was 3 from a lung infection he has yet to know what caused it in the first place.

Innes tried to dye his hair red with a drink mix he found, accidentally staining his hands and forehead red for at least a week.

During said week- Muir refused to hold were Innes held, as it felt oddly sticky because of the juice packet.

Do you happen to have any headcannons regarding O'Connor and his friends? They live rent free in my head right now

Gotta admit, i do really hope they release maybe like a dlc or a short part two game that just focuses on the crew and their lives, because O'Connor and Gibbo, despite having only a few lines actually seem like they have lots of cool lore! Especially Gibbo (him talking about beasts, flashing lights etc)

Anyways! Heres a few headcanons of Gibbo, O'Connor, Trots, Finlay and Caz! **SPOILERS!!**

O'Connor

- i think lots of people think Mary is O'Connors wife, but I actually think hes talking about his daughter! Someone on the SWTD reddit said the ones who turn into The Shape are sort of traumatized or broken in some way, and the shape seems to lure/sedate its victims by making it think someone they care about is talking to them, so my mind immediately goes to O'Connor had a wife who either died or left and Mary is all he has. Poor guy :(

- I feel like he would be the type to go up to Trots when they first meet and ask if he can "see how blind" Trots is by trying on his glasses lol (he means well though!!)

- Poor man has night terrors like nobodies business. I like to think hes had night terrors the week leading up to what happens in the game about The Shape, but in very vague ways. Has probably told Trots or Gibbo about them as a joke.

Gibbo

- Again, a lot of people on reddit speculate that people who are traumatized or broken, I think his father left him or maybe just isnt a very great guy, since he tells Caz to tell his mom he'll be home soon, and since his ramblings sometimes sound like something an angry/neglectful father would say to a kid. I think Gibbo def gives off mamas boy vibes

- BIG. OLE. SOFTIE!!!! Definitely is the one who hung up all the christmas decor, and helped Dobbie with decorating their shared cabin.

- Definitely has seen some weird shit that Rennick has told him to stuff down, the "flashing lights" in the ocean, creatures that come up that he chalks up to being weird sea creatures so he can sleep peacefully at night

- I feel like in a weird way, he would survive the explosion and make his way to the main land, maybe to see his mom again or to try an find help

Trots

- I personally fucking adore Trots, he feels like the dad friend of the crew, the type that goes up to the crew when Rennick is up their asses and tells them to stand up for what they think is right.

- Always making passive aggressive comments around Rennick, Caz and Roy are always having to break the two up when they get into heavily heated arguements

- In his infected form, i think it shows a lot about the stresses he has as a union person and as a person in general. He feels like hes always having to clean up peoples messes, make sure things are working the way he should be, I feel like he puts on a composed face infront of everybody but is heavily stressed by his duties to keep everyone from getting killed

- I think he likes melancholy music :] soft and sad tunes that you can take a nap to while it rains outside

Finlay

- Can throw back shots like nobodies business, Caz and Muir are constantly doing drinking games with her and she always wins (though the hangover afterwards for her is more of a lose than anything)

- Constantly messing with Addair by getting into political battles and not giving him any satisfaction in seeing her get angry or anything, will sometimes just throw in random hyper-exaggerated takes to see him get mad

- As we seen from the paper, an absolute fucking wizard at darts, like, to the point where if shes drunk as all hell shes still able to hit multiple middles in a row

- Has nightmares too, but about her son. I cant imagine how hard it was for her to make it past the Shape hearing her son singing and calling out to her :((

- I feel like shes also pretty close with Roy, goes out for smoke breaks with him and stuff like that

Caz

- Double jointed. Maybe im just projecting onto him but the way his legs hurt from like THE SMALLEST OF FALLS is some double jointed problems shit. That being said, he totally does that bending-finger-back party trick for the crew, Trots tries to warn him against doing it but the look of disgust and suprise on the crews face will always make him do it again lol

- Was accidentally the first person to find out about Muir and Innes's relationship. He caught them kissing in the mud room, ever since then hes tried to be like,,,, overly accepting to the point where every time Innes and Muir are walking together he gives them a thumbs up like a dork

- Keeps his hair long despite Rennick and Addairs comments because Suize likes it that way (you cannot tell me Caz doesnt like getting his hair pulled lmao he is WHIPPED for that lady)

- I like to think his afterlife is him haunting his house, i know that may sound shitty but i want that man to be able to watch his weans grow up :(((

FINLAY HEAD CANNONS YAY!!!

• She's absolutely one of the smartest members on the Beira. Honestly, I'm not quite sure if it's ever mentioned in the game, but Finlay seems to catch on to a lot of things quickly, there's no hiding anything from her. I DO however remember this voice line, "After that explosion, he got oil or something on him and he just, I don't know ... he freaked out ... went for me! He's still out there." Even at the beginning of the game she knew something was up!!

• Finlay's a bigger woman, no questions asked. I believe I've seen another headcanon on here saying she's around 6'2, and I whole heartly agree with that. I might actually draw her some other time to show how I see her, but I personally think she's definitely more heavyset. I mean, even in the game her character is bigger than others.

• Adding on to the last one, Finlay's actually really strong, while you may not see it much due to the bulky uniform or the fat on her body, she's definitely got a decent bit of muscle definition. I wouldn't quite say she's ripped, but she's absolutely muscular.

• I feel like the guy's would try and challenge her to an arm wrestle and she'd win nearly, if not, every time. It's not that the boys on the rig underestimate her, quite the opposite, actually. The arm wrestling thing is more so for fun, or for the title of being the one who somehow managed to beat Finlay at her own game.

• Okay, I can't actually think of any interactions we have with her that back up this one, but I also saw a headcanon somewhere saying Finlay might've had younger brothers and was the oldest out of all of her siblings, she's used to being around boys, especially rowdy ones, so I wanna say she'd think of some of the other crew members in a similar way to her brothers.

• She's the type of person you go to when you're upset. Finlay doesn't seem like the type to sugarcoat anything, if you need advice she's going to be brutally honest because she knows the truth is what you need to hear more than anything. Remember that one interaction at the end of the game? Where she's telling Caz to blow up the rig? Yeah, she was completely right, and he knew it.

• OKAY, OKAY, LAST ONE!! At the beginning of the game there's dialogue with Finlay where she says she's in need of a smoke, that being said, I think after awhile of running around on the rig she'd have to take some breaks. As a bigger person myself with respiratory issues, I can say it's not a lot of fun running all over the place. I don't think she'd have asthma per say, but she's a middle aged smoker. She's gonna need to stop and catch her breath. (Not sure if this one actually makes that much sense but it's whatever,,,)

More SWTD Second Chance AU Thoughts!

Obviously, the crew can't just all stop working on the rig (despite no one but Caz being ok to work), so characters like Finlay, Addair, and Gibbo have to work, or else the rig would break down.

Roper threatens to throw anyone who tries to start the drill overboard. Brodie threatens to do the same to anyone that mentions Raffs going in the dive bell.

The crew is fairly divided on whether or not to tell Caz about what happened 'yesterday'. One side thinks he went through enough for them all, and it would be kinder to let him live in ignorance. The other side wants to tell him to see if it'll jog his memory so he can tell them what the hell he did to restart the day.

(The answer would be nothing. He'd be as confused as everyone else.)

After the day shift ends, there's a long line of people at the radio room waiting to call their loved ones. Gibbo is the first one there.

The crewmates' memories of 'yesterday' end at their deaths, so Innes has no idea about the chopper crashing or Rennick turning (or Muir carrying him around for hours).

But most people remember how hard Caz tried to save them all. O'Connor and Trots both remember vividly how Caz apologized for not being able to help them.

Once Trots is finished with his panic attack, he goes to the radio room to start calling in every favor he has with the NSOWU to get the Beira decommissioned.

The darts finale is postponed until further notice.

... hey remember when I always say I keep finding stuff? I wanted to work on the video but kept digging through the game files.

And now, together with @peace-comes-dropping-slow and @sgiansporran we finally found the files for the voicelines. Found a way to convert them and all that is left to do, is to.. look through 21,925 files and find every interesting bit we need.

There are A LOT of unused voicelines it's insane.

In trying to write for infected!Caz, I have a whole bunch of ideas, but im not quite sure how angsty or happy ending I wanna get with it

I have 3 possible times for Caz's transformation, if we want to keep it close enough to canon, the difference at the end is how many people are alive to help stop the rig from sinking/ how many are left to save:

Caz transforms after his run in with Trots in acom. after he's been grazed by the shape in the hallway, when he gets to Roy after the life boats. Caz's bond with Roy is the reason he doesn’t completely lose his mind, and now they can start helping the rest of the infected crew come to their senses, and also stop Rennick from leaving (maybe?)

Caz transforms when he tries to save Roy from the acom. Roof, and thinks he’s dead because he doesn’t respond immediately after Caz administers his insulin (let’s be honest, me may have woken up he was probably in a glucose coma) Emotional angst ensues and all of the infected still alive can feel Caz’s anguish which kinda starts to wake them up/ connect them with their humanity again. Only Brodie, Finlay, Caz, Roy and the infected crew are still alive.

Caz transforms post-still-here AU, where all of the brain fog is lifted from the infected crew BEFORE Caz transforms. Essentially they’re all hanging out on the deck and Roy collapses because they got distracted and Roy didn’t say anything. (Alternatively, Roy is left in the galley and they go to check on him and he’s passed out, thus Caz believing he’s found his dead body, cue ‘I was supposed to look after him angst’) Trots goes to get his insulin, and Caz starts freaking out because his friend is dying, oof. Finlay and Brodie have to calm him down, but the emotional anguish triggers his transformation. They have to pull Caz away from Roy to give him the insulin, and he’s very upset by this, but when Roy wakes up, He’s in Caz’s mutated arms. The crew cleans up, finishes fixing the rig and also coming to terms with themselves/infected crew mates. 

( i would highly enjoy any input the fandom has on this, but i might even just write for all three scenarios and see if i post one or all of them)
