Weak Spot Donnie Ref Sheet

Y'all genuinely have no idea how happy I am right now. With many, many years of work, the Weak Spot Donatello ref sheet is finally done and @garbagemilkshake is truly one of the greatest people to ever grace this planet. I say with full honesty that WS would not have near the same visual impact without their art. Now that this treasure is finally a reality, I'm holding nothing back. Below I breakdown all kinds of detail about what you see above and all I can say before that is thank you to each and every one of you who've been kind enough to read my work! This one goes out to you!

PREFACE TIME!

Now it may seem like way overdue from the outsider perspective, but let me tell you, I have been trying near non-stop to get this damn thing done. Interest in getting WS Donnie's ref sheet made dates all the way back to around Chapter 9ish of Weak Spot, but very technically to April of 2023. An artist was commissioned to make it and all I will say on that matter is that they decided they could not continue. Thus began my new search. There was a ton of criteria: Someone willing to make a ref sheet of this size, someone willing to associate with NSFW content, and someone willing to do mechanical props.

Unfortunately, I would fruitlessly search until eventually I had Garbage on as a chapter artist. I eventually asked if Garbage was up to it (they totally were) and we decided to test out the other turtle's ref sheets first. It may not seem like it, but a ref sheet of this size is an ENORMOUS undertaking. I seriously cannot praise Garbage enough. As you all know, the other turts ref sheets were stunning. We planned out what was needed for Donnie's and starting May 2024, work began. Garbage would routinely take time off of doing chapter art or what need be (I'm too discombobulated to remember when their vacation was). Their happiness and life takes top priority in my book and after all the time I'd spent searching for someone just to do the ref sheet, I did not mind it getting sidelined in the slightest. Garbage was doing me a huge favor after all, commission or not!

BUT WHO CARES!! WE'RE HERE AND IT'S DONE!!! 🎉🎉🎉

Let's get into it with the turnaround!

The turnaround! Finally we have the definitive collection of Donnie's scars! it was tricky and we ended up needing to label him like some anatomical model to get all the mentions in. Some scars will look a little familiar to you and other's might not, but dang, I sure did a TON of scar research. From hypertrophic (raised scars) to atrophic (scar that don't have enough scar tissue to heal and are sunken in comparison) to how sharp blades versus dull ones cut skin raise what kind of scars. I have a bunch of gorey references for all that, but I doubt anyone wants to see that. Instead let's go into inspirations and the like:

First off, in spot 4, Donnie's electrical scars!

You probably think I ripped them off from Replica or Unknown and that wouldn't be totally wrong, but it wouldn't be right. Obviously I'm a huge fan of both artists (go support their patreons), but my thoughts were always more in the camp of getting Villain Donnie from A to B. I was planning alongside a canon timeline and my thoughts were he would have definitely created himself a pair of show goggles, but there was no way, with what he went through, that those would make it to adulthood. When I considered where he was mostly likely to lose them and that I wanted him to give himself laser eye surgery (again, show accurate, he had glasses once!) that I could knock both out if he were to have damaged the goggles, rendering him deaf and needing cochlear implants.

Now spot 2, the body augmentation, reaches outside the fandom and to Megalo Box of all things!

I only watched an episode or so, but the way Joe scrapped together gear was something that stuck with me. When I was conceptualizing WS Donnie and came to the conclusion he didn't have ninpo, I thought a lot about what he would do when the others got there. The logical conclusion was turning towards his tech and Megalo Box was right there with the idea.

Donnie's body augmentation gear has not been depicted as of yet, but it absolutely looks like something out of Megalo Box. I additionally did research into other wearable tech and came across the ExoArm.

Studying their information on what nerve points and muscles needed to be hit was what helped me ultimately decide where the extraction points on Donnie's arm would be. The starbursts on Donnie's arm are where the pins for the device were forceably torn out when they 'failed' him. The lines between them are where the wires that connected pin points were similarly torn out. They created finer scars.

I want to highlight the barely seen spot 7, Neural Implant, with an extreme close up:

It may seem like just the curvature of his noggin, but it's actually Donnie's one clean scar. It was his only surgery he was truly careful with as it chanced his brain stem and spine if he messed up. Without his ninpo, he implanted a chip to coordinate with his tech more seamlessly. It's inspired by the fic Switch by unorthodoxx, which shout-out! Again, if someone comes up with a neat concept, that stuff sticks with me!

Spot 6, Mystic Chains aka where Donnie got his foot ripped off and it might not be for the reason you think. I wanted to make mention here, that you might remember the chapter art from chapter 43 of Weak Spot and that Donnie did not have a port sticking out back then. That's growth kids because it took me until after to realize that he would need something inserted to connect to a working prosthetic.

Finally, it was tough to figure out how best to depict all of Donnie's shell damage. It's reveal is such a huge moment in Weak Spot and I knew he would have what was basically insurmountable damage to have made it a specific weak spot to him (if you know what I'm saying 😏) The number 8, spike holes are just that, Donnie hit some spikes. Think of him having been shut in like an iron maiden or maybe trapped by a spike wall that was reminiscent of the ones in the Maze of Death in the Minotaur Maze episode of canon.

As for spot 10, Shredder, we see this Donnie suffered for not having a bulkier battle shell. When he was attacked by shredder in this moment:

His shell took that damage directly.

The last spot I want to touch on is 9, the Odachi marks, the larger blob one is when Leo attempted to, but held back from severing Donnie's spine and the other is from Leo trimming Donnie's spines (aka from being a Spiny Softshell). I made this extremely helpful infographic to explain to Garbage at one point exactly what was trimmed off in the latter:

Moving on to outfit variants and expressions!

I hope this section is pretty self explanatory, but I did want to make a note: Donnie wears his wraps as seen in Lounge Looks around his arms and neck under all his clothing and at most hours due to his constant pain. Also, the examples of Donnie's emotions are something that only came around during Weak Spot. He hardly emoted before he met reader.

Last, But Not Least we got prop close-ups!

The prosthetic shown here is specifically Donnie's comfiest, aka the one he uses at home. I didn't bother adding any other prosthetics because his others are either shoe prosthetic (aka the shoe is fit so it directly attaches to is port) or a prosthetic that is made to perfectly replicate what his foot looks like (which visually looks like he just has his real foot). His prosthetic is actually a straight rip off of a real one!

When researching prosthetics, I found this one and it struck me as so similar to the turtle's actual feet (with the 'two toes' and heel) that I thought this had to be Donnie's prosthetic.

We get a good look at Donnie's glasses. As a reminder, the arms (temples) of Donnie's glasses attach to his head via magnets. He's got a little metal in his head from the electrical burns and cochlear implant so he made use of it when he made a facsimile of his goggles. The whole point of his glasses is they mimic the vision specs/knowledge he needs to access without them being a danger to his person. They are meant to be easily removable and they do not have lenses. The color projected in them is just that (a projection) and it only works if it's close enough to Donnie's neural implant and he wills them to be turned on.

Our final order of business is WS Donnie's battle shell! This is the first time it's ever been depicted! I always knew he was going to have a different sort of battle shell when I was created this version of Donnie. His show shell is just too bulky for what this Donnie could afford. Since he dabbled a lot of easily concealable tech, I took a lot of inspiration from Iron Man. The battle shell, as we know from Weak Spot, can grow and resize to its user. I specifically had this gif in mind whenever I thought about how the battle shell grows on one's back:

I did a ton of research into body armor itself, since that is what Donnie would specifically need it for and found this specific piece that I thought fell perfectly in line with both the Iron Man idea and utility of a realistic battle shell for this Donnie.

Oooh here we go, I finally worked up the courage to post some stuff about one of my Blands ocs!!

This is Tusk! They've existed for years, but I finally worked up the motivation to draw them a ref sheet that wasn't from like, 2021. Out of my handful of Borderlands ocs, they're my only Tales one, but GOD do I adore them. They have miles of lore, and it's still on going with a story/au that my friend @doglintime made, and that we're currently writing along. They're a bigger/plus sized guy, Non-Binary [genderfluid], and Bisexual.

We have SOOO much lore down for this bad boy. They run around with The Group in tales, not really interacting with many canon characters outside of the game, at least during the story.

They maaaay be shipped with Rhys [shh], but they've got pretty strong bonds with everyone in the group.

They're the owner of two skags, Jackwes and Skewer. I've posted Jackwes here already, and I'll post Skewer sometime soon, but they LOVE their skags to death. Being a huge expert [nerd] about wildlife is basically their whole deal, but I could go on and on about that. They were born on Pandora, yet despite that, they're actually a pretty nice and moral dude. [Give or take being an ass more often than not]

Despite their attitude sometimes, Tusk really does care deeply about their friends. He'd go to the moon and back for all of them.

But, enough incoherent nonsense for one post. Here's some old & relatively new sketches of him. They're totally living proof that I'm 100% normal about this game. I'll probably be posting little doodles of funny things in their little adventures with the others soon after artfight. If anyone has any questions about them too, I'll for sure answer them! Well im Nightdust!! my main fursona is this guy above me, he is called Nightdust Fallen, he is a breed of a husky and a wolf, making him extremely fluffy and puffy! The reason for his name is by the fact that (in my head canon or lore) he came from a bunch of fallen space star dust, hence why he likes space so much and staring at the stars, he also has some sort of ice magic i havent fully fleshed out yet, one thing i can say tho is that when he sneezes, he does it softly and he puffs out small ice snowflakes and can freeze things he touches he is also supposed to wear glasses like me but i suck at drawing those and forgot to include them here anyway so

He is very shy, doesnt talk much but is very protective of his very close friends and would do anything to protect them and make sure they're safe, he is a femboy (of course), enjoys listening to calm relaxing music and high octane electronic music at times, is a gamer, likes cuddling up in bed and i think that's it

It also doubles up as a self description of myself so yeah lol Still tho feel free to send me an ask if you have any questions or anything, with that said onwards to more personal stuff

I enjoy drawing obviously, but i also enjoy cooking stuff and origami, i play a lot of roblox usually to pass time but a game i really got into is "Voices of the Void" i really recommend but it's not for everyone, i like the game's concept and how detailed the space is there. For some reason, a lot of the time i am cold, my hands, feet, nose and limbs overall are very cold which is why i thought about giving my oc some ice magic thing. I am taken, in a relationship with my cutie bunny bf, and my sexuality is bisexual. As said before i do not talk much since im not the social type and usually freeze up or dont know what to say, hence why sometimes i take a long time to respond to something or my response is "dry" or not full of much emotion since i dont really know what to say or feel like im annoying if i talk too much. If you read thru all of that and get here then reply with the word bean so i know you're a true one hehe. I also often wait for others to start the conversation rather than me starting since i again, feel like i would bother the other person or like i could distract them if they are doing something

Azzy Intro:

Azzy is a Angel Demon hybrid created by a studio for the purpose of bringing new people to their church. Their intentions were that by adding demon to him, it would make him conform to their ways easier.

Azzy was rescued by a band of misfit demons raiding their building for ink and supplies. He was taken to their creator's home, a mansion just outside of his hometown. There, he stayed and recovered from his abuse.

Azzy remained mute for 2 years. In that time, he learned sign language and the art of music as a form of expression for himself. He wrote and composed his first song, finally bringing himself to sing. He became widely popular very quickly for his voice and upbeat music. Music that was ahead of its time, mainly jazz, ragtime, and classical, were popular. He also enjoys soft rock and hip-hop, not as popular in his town but enjoyable non the less.

Disclosure: I DO NOT IN ANY WAY CLAIM ANY AJR SONG FOR MYSELF. They are my favorite band and mean a lot to me, azzy is inspired by their music and is a self insert oc.

Azzy does write the songs in his story, but i don't own any of them just to be clear.

Fantasy Pet Whump - Whump Exchange

I really couldn't decide on a topic for a single Artwork so I came Up with a whole story and made a short comic.

Since a Whump Comic with only one character isn't spicy enough I decided to let my OC join the fun. So you get some Petrichor x Demonatio. (Demonatio being the inofficial title of my boy Ėnātio being possessed by Idolen)

I really Hope you enjoy what I created.

Some Background Info for Context:

Petrichor was at class. One of his least preferred subjects being "Spirit Manipulation".

Todays topic you ask?

Exorcism!

Everyones exorcism went smooth. Until it was Petrichors turn to reveal a big mistake of the teacher.

Instead of picking a lower rank demon for Petrichor to subdue, a calamity rank demon lord managed to slip inbetween.

As soon as he got to take control over the presented Body, he took off to slaughter the whole class including the class master.

Petrichor, due to stupid luck, managed to stay upright until the very end. Doing his best to cast protection magic while the others worked together to finish the exorcism. Until they couldn't anymore.

Next Up:

The last moments of Petrichor enjoying his freedom before being taken to the demon realm since he catched Demonatios eye.

One more contest entry down, one final one to go!

I really procrastinated hard with this one lol, my only saving grace is that I can come back in a few years and redraw this better when I have more skills.

Here I have my character Grayson remembering a memory (yes this is a memory within a memory) of him in a court with him in the stand.

The court and jury are trying to decide if he is sentient or not, he’s went through this process before but unfortunately he was ruled non-sentient. Years later he went back again and this time he used the memory of his wedding to win over the hearts and minds of jury.

Since it’s pride month I felt it appropriate to debut Silver on this blog:

I have a full ref sheet for another Paladin/Automata/Warforged named Silverwing (or Silverleaf, haven’t decided full yet)

Yes I did give a robot top scars, there’s some back story to them, Silver was one of two female robots but since the story of the Paladins centers around identity and what it means to be yourself I thought having a robot the did not feel at home in its own body was an interesting concept.

My and my friend who designed this character are both NB, and I kinda see a little of myself in Silver.

Small extra tidbit: Silver probably sounds like Raine from Owl House, but maybe out though a robot voice modulator.

200+ Follower Requests Now Open 🥳

We finally shot up over that 200 follower milestone! As promised in a previous post, I am now taking on sketch requests for my followers as a little thank you for everyone's time and engagement 💙 Please read below for more information if this interests you;

Requests are open to all my followers. You don't have to be a mutual or a long-time follower to ask for a sketch!

I am primarily accepting requests for Hunter OCs/general Bloodborne OCs and canon Bloodborne characters. I will also accept some requests for Castlevania (games only) for old time's sake, as that is the fandom I started this blog with.

Just send your requests to my askbox or pop in to my IMs if you'd rather do so there!

If requesting a sketch of your Bloodborne OC (or someone else's), kindly share a clear picture of them for reference; this can be just an in-game screenshot, a ref sheet or a piece of art (where applicable, please tell me what garb they wear also if it is a set found in game!) Same goes for if you'd like to see a specific non-canon interpretation of a character.

Sketches will likely all be (roughly) coloured. Feel free to send colour references if you think it will be needed or if you want a certain colour palette!

Requests can be as simple or specific as you want. You can just name a character you want to see and I will interpret that how I see fit, or you can describe a scene/scenario for me to work with if you have something more detailed in mind.

I will accept anonymous requests, though I would prefer having an actual blog to tag to make sure you see your sketch!

I will be open for requests for a couple of weeks depending on interest. You can check my pinned post to see if requests are still open or see when they have closed.

I am not capping how many requests I am accepting as of right now.

currently i’m playing by the basic “kits and apprentices build up the clan” rule, but with my own twists on it! those will pop up as time comes.

Spooky Month OC time! I've been stewing on her for a while now and I finally got her ref sheet done.

Her name is Prometheus, named after the Titan of Fire in Greek Mythology (her parents are very big into that sort of thing and figured their girl can rock that name). She works at a game shop that has all sorts of goodies, especially TTRPG stuff (She attended college for a while but found her calling at the shop). Prometheus also focuses on art stuff as well and spends time developing her own miniature and art studio in her house.

Prometheus is a bio-alchemist who worships Metamorphious, one of the two bio-alchemy deities (Metamorphious focusing on the change part of the alchemy type as well as the change in the natural world as well and both flesh warping and shapeshifting). Her patronage to the deity also gifted her the ability of flesh warping, allowing her to alter her body in any particular shape she desired. Prometheus is still practicing her shapeshifting but has a solid handle on it, but there's a kicker. Any non-human form she morphs into would look ... Incomplete, as some would say; like human skin was draped over the muscular of the non-human form (think of that one episode of Pokemon where a trainer's ditto has transforming down to the T except for its face, it's akin to that).

She's been love starved for a good while prior to meeting Bob. The cannibal spared her on account of her abilities and some of her own knowledge (much of which relates to animals/biology, monsters, and other aspects and hobbies she's invested in), he calls her his 'lamb lollipop'. The flesh warper has fallen head over heels for him and the feelings have become mutual over time with them bonding over their cult/alchemic experiences and foods

Every full moon, Prometheus takes the form of a monster that has a vast increased hunger and runs the risk of rampaging if her hunger isn't sustained (flesh warpers burn a lot of energy so they have to eat a lot or risk dying due to starvation/the body cannibalizing on itself).

Holy hell that's a lotta stuff to write but it's all here now. Anyways, I'm wanting to do a lot with her so look forward to that

since the epilogue is close to ending, here's some sketches of wip designs

this is very rambly so i'll add ID descriptions later, sorry. (its 4am for me rn)

Frisk looks too older, they've only aged 2 years. both chara and asriel's designs here are SO beta and non refined. I think this was drawn even before Flowey came out -I wasn't sure how much of the trans aspect was going to come into play. I initially wanted the comic to end with Chara and Asriel reconciling after the Toriel-Asriel Airplane Call scene, but realized that there was too much unsaid between the two that needed to be hashed out and the epilogue had enough to cover already.

It was going to be a last minute "oh btw, since coming home Asriel is trans now, deal with it" but THANK GOD i didn't just sneak it in like that and explored the topic in the comic instead.

I forgot where this artwork was saved so I tried to draw it back from memory a few months later:

Chara's form was starting to come together -i assume this was around the time that Chara got their boss monster form in the comic itself. I like that Frisk has a Bi flag shirt here -I should of gone with that! The cheeks are more square but ultimately I thought age 15 wouldn't allow for that much of a change. so yeah, this is what an adult frisk would look instead.

oh! for funsis: did you know i was originally going to have the other fallen humans be skeletons instead of different monsters?

I thought it was too similar to insanelyadd's skeleton fallen kids. I actually am friends with Addy now, but then I had to message and be like "🥺is it ok if i also do this i swear i'm not copying" to which they were chill about. ultmatly i felt the designs were to Sans-like and didn't allow for much creativity. (also why tf does Hol have green instead of cyan colors what was wrong with my computer or me in 2018 lmao

I always wanted to show the kids age and progress throughout the comic. oh my god the hair is SO anime here ouch! anyway I wanted Chara to really lean into the "prim and proper" role they give themself. I thought it was so cool to have them cut their hair short in the back and have long hair in the front. (wait. wait, thats what Chara does now in the epilogue. huh.)

honestly??? i like "pissed off librarian" vibes this frisk has here. Also weird to see my Frisk without an afro!

sadly no beta adult asriel designs. no idea why i never drew any then.

Here's me figuring out how Chara should have a monster form -here's proto boss monster chara, as you can see i planned out the red hair aspect early on enough that this was before the timeskip happened.

um. anyway, pre-epilogue concept sketches. I think Raine had bird wings at this stage?? dang wild. Don't ask why Franky looks like a new yorker paper boy. Hol looks too much like a raggedy ann which is funny. Ursus... well, they probably won't look much different.

And lastly, chara's boss monster design drawn right before they showed up. First one drawn <- left to right <- You can see I wanted Chara to have a hippy/punk design, but realized like, that jacket was going to be a binch to draw over and over. so i simplified it, and then was like, "ok this is TOO plain, i need SOME detail" and got very close to the final version.

hol's prequel story color ref -actually changed the Berry's hair color last minute and never got around to updating the color sheet. was very annoying to hand-color pick from a previous page instead of using the ref :/ smh @/ me

Baker's Trouble.

OLDIE. From the Start Again? and Christmas sections of the tumblr version. God. Hol is so small. Asriel looks like a mess. Good lord.

Cancelled Christmas Arc. Chara was supposed to meet up with Asriel on a boat offshore of Monsterland for Christmas, but turns out Asriel was using Chara as publicity. Except... not fully. He did want to meet up with Chara, but they get the wrong impression that Asriel was only doing this for image's sake. It'd explore how the public views Chara as an idolized figure and how Frisk plays into that too.

Anyway the story was too ambitious and I should of started this on December 1st instead of days before Christmas. Plus, I wasn't happy with how I started it and the vibes were off. I might have this as a side story in the redraw but idk

Back to the Epilogue. I changed Asriel's dress just a little bit to improve the body shape silhouette (the dress is so plane its like she's wearing a towel! gah! I should have added SOME flair to that dress dang it!) anyway the dress is more... swooshy? swirly? and the teal ties up to the neck which works nicely with the heart locket and bow combo. Actually. Shit. Why didn't I just put the locket OVER the bow i'm so stupid that'd be so much easier-

If I could redo it, I'd make some changes...

now here's the cousin and sib groups here. Flowey is actually a little TOO big and not up to scale which is funny hehe (also more blocky looking??? weird) In the Redraw version I'm modifying Raine's dress to have a sash and other details, this thing is TOO plain. Franky's Mad Scientist like outfit could of just been an actual labcoat and ideally, the fact that Franky wasn't at the party could of foreshadowed that they knew it was going to be reloaded.

(...Which, actually, Chara's surprise was a surprise for me as well. That was a impulsive idea that came to me when we were getting very close to meeting with Chara again. Thus I couldn't foreshadow it. Redraw WILL have better foreshadowing U_U;)

ACTUALLY SCREW IT for the remainder of the epilogue, i made some changes I wanted to add detail and change some designs a tad -mainly to make the designs more distinct from each other and for story continuity. (AKA: Asriel and Papyrus are supposed to be the only "red scarf" wearers. Asriel's bowtie is knitted like a scarf. previously, hol and yun had red bows which made this match up less distinct. mew Mew's design was a little too similar to Sans' and Alphys and needed some changes.)

anyway i think thats all i can share now! thanks for reading and hope you guys keep following the redraw. I really really want a completed version of this story that's not missing holes. i want AFR to be complete and well, even with the epilogue ending, it won't be "done" for a long while. But thank you guys, it's been a journey!

If you hadn't guessed, I might be finishing the epilogue today (tomorrow for me, cause i'm going to bed in a few minutes). Depends on how much I manage to draw today, but yeah. Chara is going to the party, we'll get to say hi, close some loose ends and come to end. worst case scenario, i'll have to do a little comic to tie it off (like I did with the main storyline's ending) at a later date and this will be the end of the ask-able portion of the epilogue.
