Me not knowing if I already requested 🧍🏻♀️Anyways…THE MOVIE OMG I MADE MY FRIEND GIVE ME THEIR CRUNCHYROLL PREMIUM SO I COULD WATCH IT lol
Please I’m begging for Daichi or Kuroo (I have a problem there’s a common theme of captains on my simp list)
Daichi or Kuroo with a secret girlfriend who comes to the game to support them and their relationship accidentally gets revealed
If it’s Kuroo can it be a Manager! Reader? I love these men
I adore Captains but Daichi 😍. He deserves more appreciation in this fandom, guys 😭🙏 All the captains are such cutie!! (The way I rewrote this so many times since I never got happy with it is driving me insane)
~~~
Sawamura Daichi { Little Secret }
It was a match as Karasuno against Date tech, the second round has started. So far, the game has been going in flying colours for Karasuno, making a sertants someone's secret girlfriend rather extactic. Sitting at the bleachers clapping silently on every time the crows scored a point, smiling as she watched her boyfriend. Sawamura Daichi, #1 captain of Karasuno high.
The game had gone on for about a good hour or so before the last ball went over the net, letting the volleyball players finally catch a breath as one side cheered of joy. The Karasuno team stood and bowed to the crowd on their side. "Thank you all for coming!" Speaking synchronised.
As they stood up again, his eyes found yours seemingly lighting up, moving his eyes in a motion of telling you, 'We'll meet after I get changed.' Quickly doing so before going back to his teammates.
Rolling her eyes jokingly as she smiled, walking down from the bleachers. Having found a waiting spot in the main hallway to wait for him to get changed and done socialising, checking the phone from now to then. Heart skipping a beat of joy when his figure could be spotted in the crowded room.
Somehow, he noticed her as well, excusing himself. Saying he forgot something, which was a lie by all means. Waving them off before walking back to where the team came from, as she now spy like followed him with no eyes catching her in the act.
Sneaking up behind him with a smile as she reached for his hand, "You did good out there, it's always a lots of fun to watch you all play as a team" Speaking calmly as he looked over at her, a warm expression plasterd on. "Thank you, love. Even more rewording having you standing there to cheer me on." He chuckled shyly, rubbing the back of his neck.
Now they both we're smiling like love birds, standing still facing each other as his hands held both of hers. Raising one pair of hands enough to place a peck on the back of her palm in a loving manner. "I appreciate it, truly." Muttering under his breath.
"He has a girlfriend!-" was cut off by an even louder scoulding. "Hinata boke! Shut up." Taking the couples attention seeing the whole of Karasuno standing around the corner, peaking. "Please." Daichi sighs quietly to himself.
"Keeping secrets, captain. Not even letting us meet your partner." A gray-haired guy spoke out, shaking his head before smiling at you. "Yeah! She is gorgeous!" Said an almost bald guy as the shortest next to him nodded aggressively. "Yeah! How long has this been going on."
"I was hoping to introduce you all at a better timing. This is my girlfriend {Name}, and we've been dating for about a year and a half." He explained rather embarrassed for being cought red-handed. "It's lovely to meet the team he's talked so much about." You smiled at them with a small wave with your right hand.
~~~
I apologise for the delay but here he is!! 🫶 Hope you all enjoyed reading it!!♡

Would you share your thoughts on the Gundam you've seen? I added the first one to my list based on your posting about it (mostly the transition Char posting, he sounds like a fascinating character) and am not on Twitter to see your liveposting
Good question!! It seems like you want to know if I'd rec them so I'll answer based on that.
The original Mobile Suit Gundam (1979) absolutely I would rec to literally any anime fan. Both because it is a genuinely good anime, but equally because it's like. You know how people say you have to read the Bible to get all the references to the Bible in literature? It's like that. Gundam is one of the Bibles for anime. It's in everything. And you won't realize this until you watch it.
It's also a very good science fiction show just in general. The major characters are all great, the drama is compelling, and while some of the animation has not aged well, the newtype stuff has some super neat effects that are gorgeous to see on a big screen to this day.
It's also super accessible, the full show is available on Crunchyroll or if you don't want to commit watching a 43 episode show the three compilation movies are on Netflix and are a very solid alternative.
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (1985) - they got a big budget upgrade so everything is Bigger and More. More robots, more character drama, more romance, better music, and some bizarre segues into how men are from Mars and women are from Venus. Absolutely worth a watch if you liked the original Gundam because it continues to follow a lot of the original characters.
Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ (1986) - technically "skippable" if you consider 0079, Zeta, and Char's Counterattack a trilogy, which it kind of is. ZZ focuses on an almost entirely new cast of characters and the first half of the show is VERY heavy on the comedy before jumping directly into some of the best anime I've ever seen for the second half. The mood whiplash is kind of divisive among fans. Personally I like it and the characters are great. Worth a watch if you like what you've seen so far.
Char's Counterattack (1988) - caps off the gayass Amuro/Char rivalry and is just an amazing movie in general. Gorgeous visuals, and the final 15 minutes or so are a series of emotional gut-punches the likes of which I've rarely experienced in media. Must watch IMO.
War in the Pocket (1989) - six episode OVA featuring entirely new characters. This is a truly fantastic little series that lets you into the lives of a small handful of likeable characters and how their lives are affected by war. It's Gundam so guess how that goes. I liked it a LOT and recommend it. BONUS: This is a GREAT "starter" Gundam. It's short, it's very good, and you don't need to know anything about Gundam going in. There's a few references to prior lore, but they aren't anything major and a newcomer could easily figure it all out from context.
Mobile Suit Gundam F91 (1991) - this is a movie that was originally going to be made into a TV show and it shows, they stuffed far too much into too little time and it suffers for it. So unfortunately this is the first thing on this list I probably wouldn't rec. That said the characters are pretty fun and the ending is very good, so you can do a lot worse if you're bored or a completionist.
Mobile Suit Victory Gundam (1993) - this is what I'm watching right now! I'm a little over halfway done with it. This is all new characters and there are some interesting new concepts. For example the first twenty or so episodes were set on Earth so you got some really gorgeous scenery during mobile suit battles that made those scenes really visually distinctive compared to say, a battle in space. That said it's yet to really "pull me in" the way most other Gundam series did. For now I'm still waiting to see if it will do that or not.
Witch From Mercury - I'm assuming everyone knows what this is. It's gay as fuck, what can I say, and it's the entire reason I fell down into this Hell to begin with. 10/10

Which EP that make your into ginzura ?!
I know who you are, and you know you don't want to hear this. There wasn't any episode, I first watched the series almost ten years ago and distanced myself from it because it was making me physically sick worrying about characters. I remember looking for Ginzura and not finding anything but not being particularly attached to it. Like I didn't really see g*nhiji so I figured Ginzura had at least as much reason?
I thought the most interesting relationship was between Gin and Kagura (NOT sexually or romantically, I was just fascinated by them.
When I saw that the series was all on Crunchyroll (as far as I knew except the love potion arc which I wasn't a fan of in the manga so I decided to watch the series and see how it ended. Got obsessed again. It seems like I latched on to Katsura more that time, although I remember liking him the first time through. Finally I decided to find the second movie, which I remembered liking. I was enjoying it, and then it got to the scene on the balcony where Katsura talks about the last time he saw Gin, and I was fucking run over by a 50-ton freight train of feelings. I've never had a ship hit that fast. When he started choking up it was suddenly clear that the outfit wasn't a popularity joke, Katsura was literally shattered by losing Gin. He'd lost his entire family and his Sensei and his cause and everything he'd ever cared about and he'd persisted, but losing Gin broke him. And it struck me just how miserable he was in the movie, and how no one seemed to care. Kagura flatly states that he went insane because Gin disappeared, and they go back to talking about everything else like that wasn't important. Gin makes a half joke about murdering him and goes back to worrying about Gengai. This is runaway Kotarou, his literal claim to fame is running away. He escapes all the time, even from the inescapable prison, even when he was a screwdriver. And he just sat there and let the execution happen because he was so broken down. And of course, Kagura says he talked about destroying the world, but all he talks about, both with Kondo and Gin, is how much he wants to help the world. He hates the world but he just wants to help, so badly. And he was breaking down and Gin saw the Blight guy and left Katsura and probably forgot him as soon as he was out of sight. Then during the final battle, Katsura makes the long, impassioned speech about how every single one of them is there to support Gin. If Gin hears the speech, he literally does not react at all. I wondered if this was the Katsura who had mourned Gin for ten years. Everyone else forgot Gin, but for Katsura he lost his best friend and suffered for it for a decade. Here he is finally able to do something for the person he cares about more than everything. And again, how happy would he be if Gin just took a second to acknowledge him?
And it's been the same ever since. His introduction is based on how much he values Gin, how he was willing to dirty his hands to get him back. But he accepts Gin's decision, even if he doesn't like it, and he tries to influence Gin but he never endangers him again. His next major appearance, he says the Harusame is too big for his entire organization, but when Gin says he's going, Katsura goes with him without hesitation "I'm your left hand" isn't just an idle term, he makes an enemy he's already stated he doesn't think he can defeat if it will help Gin. In Benizakura he tells Takasugi he rearranged his core beliefs based on how strong he sees Gin as. I could keep going. The constant standbys. Wanting to be in the Cartesian Arc., In the soul-switch arc he literally is willing to fight for Hijikata because Hijikata in Gin's body took him seriously and offered him a job. When he saved Gin from Nobunobu (Which again, Gin literally never acknowledges, Katsura spends most of his time talking about Gin and Gin spends the whole time playing support for Hijikata. Katsura gets his rawest line in the series, about how when you're near death you just want to be with people you care about. This reframes his asking Gin to commit seppuku with him. When he lost all hope, his one wish was to be near Gintoki when he died. Meanwhile, in the Farewell Shinsengumi arc, he doesn't get to see Gin. It doesn't even appear that Gin bothered to talk to him about Utsuro until Matako and Nobume bring it up. Gin literally fucking renamed him and it changed how his friends treated him for the rest of his life. When he stayed in the ship in The Very Final. I don't see much Ginzura in the series, but if Katsura isn't in love with Gintoki it's still obvious that a good chunk of his sanity revolves around his relationship with Gin. I truly believe there's more support for his romantic feelings for Gin than his romantic feelings for Ikumatsu, and I truly believe he cares about her and I can even see them ending up together but you cannot possibly convince me that their main bond is based around his understanding how hard it is to lose the one you love to the cause. And every time I see Katsura I want to throw a supportive Gin at him, even for a minute, even for a single panel, and it never happens. So I write.
Obviously this is all my opinion. If you really want to discuss it that's fine, but if you just want to tell me how wrong I am I'm aware my opinions are very different from most of the fandom. When I say you can't convince me it's because I'm stubborn as fuck and I suffer from cognitive rigidity, not because I think I'm the smartest person on the internet. Just assume you're right
#don't @ me not tonight anyway I'm having emotions#ginzura#obviously#if you can convince me there's canon proof Gin cares abou5t Katsura I'll give you 300 yen#but I can tell you now it's not gonna happen

Anime I watched in 2023 (Part 1)
In honor of the new year, I’m gonna be casting a look back at the anime I watched last year. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a lot of free time to watch anime at the beginning of the year due to university kicking my ass, but after I finally graduated with my master’s degree, I could finally work through some of the backlog I had accumulated on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
Anyway, without further ado, this is a list of anime I watched in 2023 with some short descriptions and my own personal opinions. Let it be known, there is a lot of text in this one.
Also, since there ended up being a lot more shows that I watched than I thought there would be, this had to be cut in two -> Click here for part 2
Some of my older lists:
My favourite animes (Old. Tells of my tastes back in, like, 2018-2020 or something. Updated list coming once I get around to it)
Feel good anime Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3
Handa-kun
Handa Seishuu is a calligraphy prodigy and a high schooler. For years he has been living under the assumption that his student peers all hate him. This is, of course, a huge misunderstanding. In reality, Handa is very much admired in his school, to the point of being popular. Where did this misunderstanding stem from and how can it be resolved?
12 episodes - comedy, slice of life
I liked this one! Although I did have a little bit of distaste towards one of Handa’s so called friends. You’ll understand who and why if you decide to watch this.
Barakamon
Handa Seishuu, now a 25-year-old man, punches a famous, older calligrapher judging his latest work. As a consequence of his own actions, he is sent to live in small town in the countryside where a group of kids rutinely keeps breaking into his house. Beautiful friendships bloom between Handa and the people of this town.
12 episodes - comedy, seinen, slice of life
Took me an episode or two to get in to, but once I did I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Backflip!!
Shoutaro Futaba enters high school with intense love for sports, especially men’s rythmic gymnastics after he saw Shoushukan high school’s team perform in a competition. He enrolls into said high school and hopes to join the team despite not having any prior experience with gymnastics. Another boy, Ryouya Misato, get recruited alongside him and together with their senpais they start to work towards Inter-high tournament.
12 episodes and an OVA - sports
I started this in the beginning of the year and only got around to finishing it in November. Actually liked this one a lot! The final movie left me feeling so happy yet bittersweet. I recommend this one!
Skip and Loafer
Mitsumi Iwakura leaves her small countryside town and moves to Tokyo to live with her aunt in hopes that attending a prestigious high school would aid with her ultimate goals in life. As the new school year begins, Mitsumi leaves for school with high hopes, gets lost at the subway station, runs into classmate called Sousuke Shima and together the two barely make it to the entrance ceremony. What will her school life shape up to be?
12 episodes - romace, shojo
Nao-chan supremacy! The bestest aunt!
I really liked to animation animation style of this anime. For me, the show looks very soft and fresh in a spring and pastels kind of way. It’s hard to explain but I hope at least one person gets what I mean. I like the characters a lot and their interactions feel nice and grounded. The romance isn’t the main focus in this one, at least not in this season, which I liked since it’s always lovely to just see friendships put into the spotlight.
Buddy Daddies
What do you get if you combine two trained, professional assassins who live together and an accidental child acquisition? A riot of a family dynamic. Katsuki Kurusu and Rei Suwa fumble through their new shared life as parents to a four-year-old Miri Unasaka. What seemed like a temporary situation at first, stops looking temporary when genuine affection and care for the little girl and her well-being start to blossom in both men’s hearts.
13 episodes - action, comedy
This one was so good. I loved every minute of this and the characters’ dynamics worked so well together. Anyone in the shows comment section who complained about Miri being annoying had clearly never been around young children and it showed. Miri is a delightful little girl who loves her dads very much. There was also a fair bit of action in this which was a nice change of pace amidst all the parenthood things.
My New Boss Is Goofy
Momose Kentaro is a 26-year-old office worker working for a marketing firm, Minette. He is new to the job, having just recently quit his previous job due to power harrassement and abuse he received from his former boss. Can his new clumsy and little goofy manager Shirosaki Yuusei make him feel comfortable in his new job?
12 episodes - comedy, slice of life
I love everything about this show. The characters, the storylines in each episode, the art style. This just makes you feel happy and a little giddy. Definitely my favourite show of the year. This one earned the top spot on my rewatchable shows list.
If you liked Play It Cool, Guys or The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague, you might like this one.
Ron Kamonohashi’s Forbidden Deductions
Kamonohashi Ron was the best stundent of an elite detective school until an incident took away his future career path and made him live as a recluse as he refused to receive any information about the world outside his four walls. One day a police detective Totomaru Isshiki is adviced to approach Ron about a series of cases that have stumped the police for a while now. But because Ron is not allowed to do any sleuthing, Totomaru has to work as Ron’s puppet of sorts. Oh, and there is also the thing about having to keep Ron from influencing the killers to take their own lives. Oh well.
13 episodes - comedy, mystery
I’m a sucker for anything ’Sherlock Holmes’ type of media so this show was right up my alley. Eagerly waiting for the confirmed second season.
Play It Cool, Guys
Group of goofy and clumsy guys from different stages of life happen to meet one another and develop heartwarming friendships. Little mishaps won’t ruin their day!
24 (short) episodes - slice of life
Easily one of my favourites of the year. Watching this felt like sipping a cup of hot green tea while wrapped up in a blanket. Instant rewatch.
If you enjoyed The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague or My New Boss is Goofy, you might also like this one
Vanitas no Karte
A vampire named Noé Archiviste is looking for a book called ’the book of Vanitas’ in the 19th century Paris, when he unexpectedly meets a man calling himself Vanitas and carries the book he’s searching for. The Vanitas he meets isn’t the original maker of the book but a doctor who possesses the ability to save vampires by returning their true names to them.
24 episodes - action, fantasy, mystery
Me, mere minutes into the first episode: ”If anything were to happen to Noé, I would kill everyone in this room and the myself.” Anyway, love me some vampire action, especially with that late 1800s, early 1900s Paris vibe. Delicious.
Vampire Dies in No Time
One day vampire hunter Ronald is tasked to infiltrate a castle and save a woman’s son. Things don’t quite go as he expected. Inside the palace, he meets a vampire called Draluc, who is truly so pathetically weak that he turns to ash from smallest of things that ahppen to startle him, and Draluc’s companion, armadillo John. The kid he seeked was totally fine and playing with Draluc’s video games. Oh and Draluc’s castle gets destroyed. Yeah… Ronald has a new roommate now.
2 seasons - comedy, supernatural
This truly is armadillo John’s world and we’re just living in it.
Love me some more vampire action. Only this time it’s a lot less angsty and violent and a lot more ridiculous and goofy. I laughed so much while watching this.
#I’m actually surprised by the amount of shows I watched#I thought I watched less with how busy I was writing my thesis#…I clearly have a genre I enjoy more than others don’t I#also few of these shows had canon lgbtqia+ characters who were written and handled so well! I’m so happy!!#(those shows being Skip and Loafer and My New Boss Is Goofy)#thanks to those who have made these gifs!#Iida’s 2023 anime recap#iida watches anime#iida’s anime recommendations#anime#barakamon#handa-kun#skip and loafer#my new boss is goofy#kamonohashi ron no kindan suiri#buddy daddies#backflip!!#play it cool guys#the vampire dies in no time#vanitas no carte

Soooooooooooooooooooo
Daifuku and Satoru getting to do their movie forms in real world at second to last ep for like, not even five minutes really felt like it was just done for some sort of quota meeting lol. Felt cheap. But other than that, I felt that the ep was nicely done and well paced, thou honestly, it's not really anywhere near top finale fights from all precure history. Still fitting for this series. I did cry couple times. But I KNOW I'm gonna be a mess next week at final ep ;_; I love this series so much and even if it didn't deliver with Pyonderful duo, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride and am glad this series exists. And I'm glad I got to watch it weekly from Crunchyroll. Sniff.
Week left.

When fandom and media are how I express love to important people in my life:
I express my love for people through media, it's the way it's always been for me. My brother and I went through every phase under the moon: Scooby-Doo, Power Rangers, Romcoms, every Tom Cruise movie in existence. My mom when I'd wake up from night terrors or just plain insomnia would always have some horror related thing on, I vividly remember Friday the 13th episode plotlines even if it's been 15 years. I've watched my other mum beat Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odessey to near 100 % completion. Whenever I make a new friend and I'm trying to find a common ground, I almost always end up watching something for them- it's how I got into Hermitcraft and what pushed me to be a cosplayer. I finally gave Critical Role C2 The Mighty Nein another try, and now send updates to my brother and get cryptic replies back. The first time I watched Mob Psycho 100 S3, I waited weeks for my best friend to fly in to visit and we binged all the episodes that were out together. And then 9 months later when my partner flew into town to visit, we watched all of season 3 again for her first time watching the series.
And to get to the point of this post and what prompted me to write this: my papa, my adopted dad of sorts, has been watching and reading One Piece for 10-15 years. We share the Crunchyroll account and as I've watched and continued on my One Piece journey, I noticed he hadn't been watching it recently and I didn't think much of it- maybe he's been too busy or busy watching seasonals. Come to find out, he's put watching One Piece on hold for me so I can catch up and we can watch it together. Which is just a huge expression of love, in my eyes at least. I cried about it and just wanted to share :3

Hullo Mun! Aside from MAWS do you have any other anime/animated shows you're watching this season? :0c
Well, I recently binged Snow White with the Red Hair, which came out in 2015-2016 so it's not exactly recent, but I enjoyed it. It's a very sweet shoujo but it also takes its heroine very seriously and it treads very carefully around certain tropes. I've kind of been poking around Crunchyroll experimentally, but I got interested in this one after seeing people talk about it on Twitter, and it really did pull me in where others had failed.
I've also been enjoying Kaiju No. 8 a lot, but I think I need to catch up on it. I'm all caught up on Invincible, though.
X-Men '97 was really fucking good.
My brother is valiantly trying to get me back into Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and even though I missed a couple massive chunks of it, I'm more or less caught up for the upcoming movies.
And okay I watched Scavenger's Reign months ago but it also finally dropped on Netflix so if any of my followers haven't seen it yet, they need to go watch it RIGHT NOW.

people i want to get to know better tag meme thingy (I still don't know how these work)
So uh, @bottombatch tagged me in this, I think there's a set of questions I have to answer? Anyway, I'm tagging @trygrievousbutgirl-blog and @zawazawanightmares because they're cool and probably know how to do this better than me. last song? Night Crawling, by Miley Cyrus (featuring Billy Idol). I just remembered that album, Plastic Hearts, existed while I was doing laundry. It's pretty good. favorite color? PINK! Like, damn near every shade of pink but especially bright and vibrant ones! currently watching? Nothing! But I'm gonna renew my Crunchyroll subscription soon and start watching I'm in Love with the Villainess and Bocchi the Rock! last movie? Me and my dad went to see Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in the cinema, because we did the same with the last one and had an alright time. He enjoyed it, but I... well, there were clearly parts of the story that whoever wrote this clearly enjoyed writing more than others. And those bits were interesting, but what I came to see (Namely Black Manta) were... not as much. currently reading? Nothing as of yet, but the copy of Zachary Ying and the Dragon Emperor I got for christmas has been staring at me from my bookshelf for a month now... Oh and once I get a new phone I'll finally get to start reading Chainsaw Man! sweet/spicy/savory? Spicy! But I'm Swedish and really like fish, so I'm partial to savory too. relationship status? Single, ladies ;). But in all seriousness I'm hoping to get on the apps soon and finally go on real dates for the first time in my 25 years of life. current interests? Chainsaw Man and Baldur's Gate 3 obviously, but also two tabletop RPGs called Scion (2nd edition, we don't talk about 1st) and Deviant: The Renegades! They're really cool but also REALLY niche so finding games for either is a nightmare! (also Deviant is honestly kinda gender?) last thing you googled? The word "shonen" because I wanted to make sure I spelled it right. I never claimed to be clever, okay! selfie or another pic you took? Fuck no on the selfies! Maybe once I've gothified a bit more, but until then I am avoiding cameras like the plague. And for whatever damn reason I can't upload photos to any damn site, so here's something I found on reddit:
#questions and answers#tag game#also both scion and deviant are good for porting over blorbos#i made a transfem denji in scion and i'm thinking about making makima in deviant

Since I've seen many posts about people missing how common asks used to be, I have been trying to send to more asks to engage more. I really don't want to bother anyone though so I'd love to know if you enjoy receiving asks and if so what kind of asks. Detailed? Vague? Work? Fandom? Movies? Books? Childhood? Gardening? Thoughts? OTPs? OCs? I'm sure there are way more categories, I'm not limiting you to these listed options. Perhaps if it's an easier question what types of asks do you not like?
I love that you send me asks! I'm sorry I don't reciprocate. I'll try to make an effort to do so. I'm mostly flying through Tumblr in the moments I have between things so I don't wander off of my feed much. Asks are fine! I'd even draw doodles to go with them if they inspire me. (And if I have time.) Here's a some things that I'm currently into:
Books: I'm currently reading two management books. I am boring as far as books are concerned. Although, it's just about time for me to start a Discworld re-read.
Fanfic: I'm hella into My Hero Academia right now and lurve to read big, sprawling AU fics. I am always into Batfam stuff. I will always have a soft spot for Hobbits
My balcony birdfeeders
Movies: Oooh I finally watched the Barbie movie.
Manga: I just read My Hero Academia: Illegals and quite enjoyed it. Do Web Toons count as Manga? I read a couple of those, too.
Anime: I'm actively watching a few including 'So, I'm a spider. So what?', 'Solo Levelling', 'Shangri-La Frontier', 'Mashle: Magic and Muscles', 'Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside', 'The Strongest Tank's Labyrinth Raids -A Tank with a Rare 9999 Resistance Skill Got Kicked from the Hero's Party', 'The Unwanted, Undead Adventurer', and 'The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic'
TV shows: Honestly, I just watch Crunchyroll these days. I think the last TV show I watched was Hilda on Netflix. Why yes, I do prefer animation to live action.
OTPs, OCs, opinions, etc are all welcome to ask about.

An ode to Given
A few days ago the internet collectively freaked out - myself included - when it was announced that the next chapter of Given would be the final chapter, ending its 10-year run. I'm honestly still in shock and while I'm trying to stay optimistic that maybe the big announcement that's coming with the final chapter will involve some kind of sequel, a second season of the anime seems more likely. It's difficult coming to terms with the fact that I may have to say goodbye to a series that I love so much, and with an ending that I most likely will not find satisfying. Regardless, Given has taken up a huge space in my heart for the past two years and I just wanted to write about how I found it, my experience with it, and what it means to me.
I've enjoyed manga and anime ever since I was in middle school, but toward the end of college I got too busy to keep up. Fast forward to years later in 2020, I was stuck at home during the pandemic and decided to dive back in. After rewatching a BL anime that I really liked in high school, Given came up as a suggested series. A quick Google search told me that it was a great romance story between boys in a band, cool.
The first episode starts with Mafuyu's melancholy monologue about the dream he keeps on having and I see right off the bat that I've signed up for a bit more than a cute love story with music. Then the opening song Kizuato hits and I'm totally captivated. It's probably one of my favorite opening sequences and truly captures the feel of the series with its hard-hitting instrumentals, Cenmilli's emotional vocals, and the moody art.
The series pace is on the slower side but there was enough drama and intrigue to keep pulling me in, and it's full of comedic gold. And then... episode 9, A Winter Story. It shook me to my core, everything about it was absolutely amazing. Ue's talk with Mafuyu before the show where he admits that even he doesn't know what he is doing or how to express himself, all he knows is that he loves Mafuyu's sound. The song itself, interspersed with flashbacks of Mafuyu and Yuki's relationship and Mafuyu's monologue (his "I'm lonely" is truly devastating, major props to Yano Shogo). THE KISS. A genuine surprise, so quick and so gentle from inexperienced Ue. I had to watch the episode twice because it left me in complete awe and I needed to experience it again. Then episodes 10-11 were the perfect wind-down with a lot of cute and legendary moments, aka Ue experiencing increasing levels of gay panic. The series became an instant favorite and I rewatched it immediately. I can't find the words to properly express what it did to me but it just made me feel so many things, things I don't think I've felt for a long time. I couldn't shake it.
After that, I was still hungry for more Given so I read the manga, which is a totally different and wonderful experience. The art is beautiful, and the way Kizu-sensei portrays emotions through the characters' facial expressions is unparalleled. Soon after that, the movie came to Crunchyroll, and I've been keeping up with the series in every form since. I read the chapters as they come out bi-monthly. I watched the drama adaptation (not great but not the worst I've seen). I watched the OVA many times (my favorite, all the precious RitsuMafu moments I was missing from the movie). I splurged on a second-hand DVD set of the stage play (really well done). I even watched the anime dub (tolerable), and I hate dubs. Rereading and rewatching the series are routine. Safe to say, it's consumed me for two years and the flame has not died down one bit.
Lots of fans joke about referring to Given as our comfort series when it actually hits on a lot of heavy topics and has eviscerated our emotions on more than one occasion. But it truly is my comfort place. Just as I had finished watching the anime for the first time, I lost a very close friend to illness. This friend was a fellow anime/manga enthusiast and was probably the one who introduced me to the world of BL. Although she didn't watch Given, I like to think that it could have been something we would have enjoyed together if we had the time. And although the circumstances are different, I could relate to Mafuyu prematurely losing an important person in his life. Because the story is equal parts pain and healing, Given kind of provided me with a space where I could dump all of the emotions I was experiencing, whether they were happy or sad. It taught me about loss, grief, and above all, the way music and love can heal the wounds that these things have left behind.
I also have to speak separately about the music of Given, it's just so well done, with so much care and attention to detail. You can tell that Cenmilli worked closely with Kizu-sensei or really dived into the source material when working on the music. Every song created for the series relates very clearly to an event or element of the story. I could write praises upon praises for all of them, but some of my favorites include:
Fuyu no Hanashi, for obvious reasons. Yano Shogo's raw vocals are haunting and the guitar riffs are insanely cool. The way the lyrics change from Mafuyu being stuck and unable to say goodbye in the first chorus, to finally moving forward despite that in the last chorus, show that he's getting the closure he needed.
Kizuato - The lyrics perfectly express the series' tagline "can't say goodbye, I'm still drifting with your echoes." And the pre-chorus is so, so good.
Hetakuso - A simple but insanely sweet song that is definitely Mafuyu's response to Ue's admission that he is bad at expressing himself. I squealed when I saw the lyrics mention "covered by the heat of summer" and "not being afraid of the next winter" in reference to the two of them.
Bokura dake no Shudaika - As I read the lyrics, I can't tell if the song is referencing Akihiko and Ugetsu's relationship or Akihiko and Haruki's (maybe it's both), but I actually like that ambiguity. I also love how it beautifully incorporates the violin as a salute to Aki and Ugetsu.
Uragawa no Sonzai - I know Mafuyu is singing the song but I like to think of it from Ue's perspective. He is aware that there is a side to Mafuyu that he doesn't know, his past, a time when he cried, a person he cried over. But he embraces this "existence on the other side" as a precious part of the person he loves and vows that he will fill up for what the other is lacking, and vice versa. I'm crying.
Now that the series is coming to an end, I don't know what I'll do with myself. If it's truly ending for good, I do have my complaints, but I'll save that for another time. No matter what though, Given is solidified as one of my top anime/manga series of all time, and I'm sure I'll keep revisiting it over the years even after it's finished. It's given me so much - joy (RitsuMafu soft moments are my serotonin), sorrow (Strawberry Swing, anyone?), laughs (too many to count), and some of my favorite music - and for that, I'm incredibly thankful.

Starting something ambitious and stupid tonight.
I realized I have 100 anime in my Crunchyroll watchlist. Whether I wanted to rewatch it, continue watching, or start, I realized I've just. Let them build up. And I can't decide where to start
So. I'm going to leave it up to Tumblr. It's gonna start with 10 polls of 10 anime each. The top 5 of each will go on to Round 2, the top 50. So, five polls of 10. From there, top 2 of each poll make it to the finals, the Top Ten. I will then watch the number one pick!
I will have to watch the chosen anime in its entirety. Including movies! Even if I end up not liking it, I will have to finish it. Again, I've seen most of these, or at least started, though there are many I haven't seen yet
I hope to have the polls ready by tonight so they can start, but. Man I didn't realize how bad it got-

What’s been happening and going to happen for the future
So first off just to clear the blog isn’t ending. I wanted to explain why things have been slow on the blog, lack of uploads, and posts.
Ever since September things started getting busy, I finally saved enough money to buy a iPad Air for drawing. And was excited to start to relearn to use a tablet( I used to do some digital art back in high school)
At the same time while I also had been going back to school ( adult education) to finish my certification cuz things were getting back to normal hahaha na this world still mess up but at least school was open. But then I had another problem, work.
I had been in retail for years, I like my job and my coworkers but it was becoming more stressful and demanding, with a pay rate that was low for this economy. I think we all know especially if you live in American how bad things have been getting with the growing inflation.
What also didn’t help you never leave on time ever. You’re shift done at 9:30 nope you are here intell 10 or even 11 pass. Being understaff and etc made me worried and so stressed. So I got a new job and finish school, cuz I had people on me about “it’s been years why aren’t you done yet?!” The pandemic HELLO.
By January I finished school which yayyyyyyy! And got a another job opportunity. There’s other things that had happened, trying to eat healthy, home issues, car problems, etc. I had TV to keep distracted but then I was changing my mind on what I wanted to watch.
This now goes into what will posting on the blog and thoughts on starwars.
I still like starwars love ya, but I don’t feel the same inspiration and excitement for the newest shows to come. Actually I was barely enjoying anything new from Starwars.
And please this is just my opinion, if you enjoy the sw shows that’s great. But for me everything that came out after mando season two was mediocre, ok or trash. It just wasn’t good, the story , the writing, animation or live action, the freaking editing jeez.
Maybe some of you already know but I don’t care for the bad batch, didn’t care for their introduction or much less for the show. Just didn’t like concept but still gave the first season a shot watch a couple times. Then sw fandom ..
The discourse in the fandom, some of y’all are wonderful in your art and I hope you keep pursuing it. And some of you are cursed, there were more clonest art and debating about sw shows in general, sometimes I wonder if some fans are even real or just bots. The changes to the canon or what even is the canon anymore? Jeez the arguments on canon. Or people putting all the trust into one person thinking they saved the franchise, yeah don’t count on that. Not to mention the weird raise of sexualizing of characters and real people (if you know,you know)
Over the year my attention went to other stuff, my friends got me into model kits it started first with transformers some years back but there weren’t many. But there’s plenty of gundams plus a new show with their first female lead, awesome soundtrack, and girlfriends ooh yes please.
Plus with Crunchyroll I’m able to finally watch some of the old anime’s I saw bits of as a kid. But now able watch the whole thing. Plus coming on the horizon a reimagining of a anime I haven’t seen sense freshmen year huh?!
SO there was a reimagining of Trigun if you haven’t heard please please go watch, I really want a part two please! It’s doing ok in the numbers, you can watch both the new one and the 1998 oh version on both Crunchyroll and Hulu. Watch both, there’s also a the original manga but unfortunately the publisher hasn’t reprint the manga so yeah it’s expensive to buy. BUT THERES HOPE right here on Tumblr you can read for free. But please to donate too cuz these fans are doing the work to translate.
Also NEW TRANSFORMERS MOVIE LETS GOOO, so yeah get ready cuz my art is changing again, I still would like to work on my starwars ocs still.
But there will be more Trigun fanart for sure, along with pics of my growing plant and model kit collection. Photography too, you can look at my toy photography I have done on instagram under the same name. There is gonna be cosplay work too, THANK YOU all for still being here,reading, thank you to all my followers!
It’s been a crazy last year let’s hope for a better one.
