Thaabangale ('96, 2018)
Is a beautiful song describing the yearnings and comfort of love. All songs in the film touch your heart's strings but this one has a sweet melancholy to it. The awareness the two lovers have of the helpless state they are in despite the knowledge of their deeper connection unsettles me.
And since IPK has ruined every other love story for me, I always have Arshi in front of my eyes as I listen to each heart-breaking line of the songs. I mean, look at these lines :
Is the love just dreams?
Am I unending journey? Is it not enough?
Is the time a question?
Enough... my heart melts and getting dissolved to come near you
Funfact: I wonder if Arshi would have been in a very similar situation as the leads of this film if Arnav let his past hurt more than his heart yearned for Khushi on their wedding day/came back to painfully suggest they don't proceed with their relationship since he can't separate his past and present with her in his life.
Nonetheless, all songs perfectly capture their spark and this one in general is a 💎 so I did what I generally do and wrote Telugu(my mother tongue) lyrics to Thaabangale with Arshi in mind. They kinda match the movie and Arshi both. Do listen to the original if you haven't and let me know of your thoughts 💭😊
Thaabangale - (Teluguvised 😂)
Her:
Him :
నా మనసుకు చెలి నీ..
తలపే తపస్సైందా?
నీ పేరిక నాకు
ఆలపనే ఐందా?
Her :
Translation
Her:
Thaapanike rupam thanai
(He is desire personified)
Thalache, piliche, yedhuruga niliche
(He thought of me, called my name, stood infront of me)
Oorinchene laalinchene
(tempted me and comforted me)
Marunimishamu idi tagadhantu vidiche
(and left me the next minute saying this isn't to be)
Neram yevaridhevaridho antu
(Who has committed this crime?)
Gaalinchene, vedhinchene
(He has searched for them, hurt me in the process)
Vairam thanadhi thanathone antu
("He is his own enemy")
Vidhe ila vishayam telipe
(said fate)
Him:
Naa manasuke cheli nee
Thalapu thapassainda?
(Has the thought of you dear, become my penance?)
Nee perika naaku
Aalapane ainda?
(Has your very name become a devotional to me?)
Her:
Premante Naduru Bedura?
(Do you shy away from love?)
Sneham idante Janku, Bhayama?
(Do you fear affection?)
Okamaaru vinu priya sakhuda

Day 25, 2018 - Persepolis
Persepolis – 2007 – Vincent Paronnaud, Marjane Satrapi
(Woman Wednesday)
“There's nothing worse than bitterness and revenge. Keep your dignity and be true to yourself.” – Nana
Persepolis tells the story of a girl born in 1970s Iran, based on the comic book of the same name by Marjane Satrapi, a loose retelling of her coming of age.
In Persepolis, Marjane’s family is politically active, and has been vocal in protesting the Shah. The film makes clear that the Shah’s power is a remnant of British colonial rule. Her family is educated, okay financially and wants Iran to become a more progressive and democratic. Marjane is relieved to see her beloved Uncle Anoosh who had just been released from prison for his opposition to The Shah.
Through this Marjane is a young girl who just wants to play; but the play is communists vs secret police rather than regular cops and robbers. She loves her father, mother, Nana (grandmother) and Bruce Lee. She hopes to grow up, shave her legs, and become a prophet.
Then comes the Iranian Revolution. Not quite the revolution that Marjane’s family was hoping for.
Now instead of living under the repression of the Shah, they live under the repression of the Ayatollah. Marjane is directly impacted as women must now dress modestly and her Uncle Anoosh is rearrested and executed. She rejects God for not stopping her uncle’s death.
Travel outside the country is severely restricted (even for medical reasons), incompetent people are given jobs with great authority based on their loyalty to the regime. All western influence is suspect; as a teen Marjane must secretly buy Iron Maiden tapes on the black market.
Fearing for their daughter’s safety, her family uses all of the influence they can to send Marjane to a French school in Vienna. She’s particularly thrilled at how abundant the food at the supermarket is; nothing like how they were scraping by in Iran.
She makes some friends and enjoys many Western freedoms, but she’s still not entirely accepted in Austria. She’s an outsider and an outspoken one that that. Eventually she finds herself drifting from place to place to live, then becomes homeless and very sick with bronchitis needing hospitalization.
All the while at home, the Iran-Iraq war (funded and supplied by the West of course) has raged.
Marjane calls her family asking if she can return home and they say yes, now that the war is over. It’s not enough. She’s unmotivated and clearly depressed. This is not the joyous young girl or rebellious teen we knew before. She takes some pills to end it all, but something else happens…
Persepolis is a beautiful black and white animated film and I cannot believe that it did not win the Oscar for best animated feature that year (sorry Ratatouille).
I watched the French language version with the voices of mother-daughter duo Catherine Deneuve and Chiara Mastroianni as Mom and Marjane respectively.
What I was struck most by in this film was how Marjane was just a normal girl shaped by extraordinary circumstances. It’s a wonderful example of universality in great specificity. She’s not perfect, she’s flawed and curious and good; like most of us. I cannot say that I understand what she’s been through story (how could I) but it was so open-hearted and vulnerable that I could access my empathy for her.
A lovely movie.
Recommended.

THE SEA EAGLE
MAKING RUGBY LEAGUE GREAT AGAIN!!!
Simply the Best???
By this stage most of us have had the misfortune of viewing this year’s NRL season opening promo. The 2-minute (thankfully shortened for TV) expose based on the iconic 1980’s Tina Turner advert highlights 30 of the greatest NRL moments from the past 30 years. Unfortunately, unless said greatest moment features some fringe minority group of indigenous, or progressive agenda rugby league highlight it misses the final editors cut.
Obviously put together by some leftie earing wearing, pony-tailed marketing tosser, who has never been to a game, the only thing missing is poor Old Izzy Folau nailed to a cross begging for penance.
Let’s face it, most rugby league fans, including the all-important angry old white men segment don’t for a second relate to or buy into this progressive gibberish and at the end of the day just want to see two teams of grown men spend 80 minutes bashing the crap out of each other without too many refereeing f#$kups. In the Sea Eagle’s opinion, a more appropriate season opening promo would have been to highlight the 30 most memorable atrocities committed by NRL players during the past 30 years. With this in mind the Director of Controversy in conjunction with marketing gurus Les Boyd Creative, has come up with this. Open the link and pump up the volume!!
https://youtu.be/FwrUTsN_mJE
Off-Season Controversy
In any other off season, the following incidents would be considered yet another shameful off-season of NRL players running amok. Of course, in season 2020 and the 2019/20 off-season there wasn't even a murmur of outrage over what happened. Basically the public is immune to all of it and expects it. And yet the tale of the tape reveals this :
Nelson Asofa Solomona
With the off-season barely a few weeks old Melbourne Storm forward Nelson Asofa Solomona on Oct 19 was reportedly seen throwing punches outside the La Favela nightclub in Seminyak Bali. Witnesses allegedly say the 23-year-old New Zealand Test prop was defending a teammate after they were set upon in an unprovoked attack. No action was taken ultimately by the NRL but the Sea Eagle certainly noticed it, and can only commend it as a great opening gambit .
Sam Burgess AVO and charges Oct 19.
Although the great player has now retired, at the time he was still contemplating being involved in season 2020. Unfortunately, things got a bit out of control when he ended up being charged with an intimidation type offence involving his father in law and also had an AVO brought against him again by allegedly attending his father in law’s premises (presumably when not invited). How Mr Burgess could be charged with intimidation is anyone’s guess.
This one still has to be played out in the Courts but again it was a fantastic entrée, with more and the best yet to come .
Mansa Fainu – Manly Hooker stabbing incident https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/manly-star-involved-in-church-dance-brawl-where-man-was-stabbed-20191028-p534ut.html.
This one was a Bobby dazzler . Manly had pinned all their hopes on this bloke to be there star #9 going forward. Regrettably things went incredibly haywire and allegations surfaced that he attacked someone whilst still recovering from a shoulder operation and his arm in a sling, allegedly with a knife carried in said sling. Bail was refused and as far as the Sea Eagle can ascertain, he remains incarcerated. It is pretty hard to top this in terms of an off -field atrocity but there you have it . Naturally, the NRL has deemed him unfit to play until this matter has been determined by the courts, although how he could play whilst serving time in a prison cell and recovering from a serious shoulder operation is anyone's guess.
David Fifita https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/david-fifita-bali-arrest-security-guard-assault-nrl-brisbane-broncos-star/news-story/8b06bdf6ab9609c48eb2c9e9a63d67d1
Another beauty this one, with Brisbane Broncos star forward again travelling to Bali and running amok. The allegations of course are all untested and unproven but the suggestions are that he was wildly swinging and landing punches on passers-by whilst travelling on a motorbike or perhaps walking in the street (one can't be entirely sure). Mr Fifita suggests he was set up. How hard would that be for an NRL player to achieve after a few drinks in Bali, the Sea Eagle suggests? In any event, he found himself incarcerated in a Bali hell hole, and allegedly having to make some sort of Brown paper bag payment to the Bali authorities in order to make this one go away. The Sea Eagle of course casts no blame against Mr Fifita for this one, as it is all supposition and hype. But the usual rules apply. That is, where there is smoke, there's usually some little F&&^%cker lighting matches.
Broncos hooker James Segeyaro doping charges.
James Segeyaro has been provisionally suspended by the NRL under the league's anti-doping policy after testing positive to a banned substance. At the time of writing this one still has to play out but it is certainly the sort of stuff you expect in any NRL off season .
Penrith Panthers NRL player Tyrone May Sex Tapes
Tyrone May narrowly avoided gaol and was sentenced to a three-year community corrections order over a sex tape scandal in January 2020. Tyrone May pleaded guilty to four counts of intentionally recording an intimate image without consent. The magistrate said his behaviour was "reprehensible" and "criminal". Apparently May and his teammate Nathan Cleary left the court without making any comment. May has been sidelined for nearly a year since being arrested over the videos from 2018, which were filmed without consent. One incident occurred at a Coffs Harbour motel and a second involved a woman in western Sydney three months later.
The 23-year-old pleaded guilty in November 2019 to four counts of intentionally recording an intimate image without consent.
Magistrate Robyn Denes sentenced May to 300 hours of community service, as well as psychological intervention, during his three-year community corrections order.
"This behaviour is not only morally reprehensible, it's criminal," she told Parramatta Local Court. "Ultimately, this is an offence which takes what was consensual sexual acts to another level. It does breach trust." Magistrate Denes warned May's offending placed him "on the cusp" of a custodial sentence and questioned whether he showed any remorse.
Not much more can be said about this one other than one must marvel at what would be revealed in a psychological intervention for an NRL player of this atrocity calibre. The facts speak for themselves and it is nothing less than a pure off field atrocity by an NRL player.
Josh Reynolds, AVO and domestic violence charges against ex partner https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/tigers-playmaker-reynolds-charged-with-domestic-violence-offence-20191212-p53jd5.html
This one showed that not all NRL players are guilty by association or by press release. Ultimately Mr Reynolds managed to persuade the New South Wales prosecutions to drop the charges on the basis of some ulterior or alleged ulterior motive of the complainant. Nevertheless, it is definitely controversial and pure Rugby League and worthy of a place in an off-field atrocity listing.
Eels winger Maika Sivo fronts court in traditional dress, barred from leaving Fiji over indecency charge https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/teams/eels/maika-sivo-tugged-on-female-bartenders-dress-before-fiji-pool-party-arrest/news-story/fb6dda5023f22790903b768a41c8c740
Maika Sivo was charged with indecent annoyance after allegedly touching the skirt of a waitress on Boxing Day during a trip home to Fiji. The NRL allowed the winger to play in the Nines tournament in Perth and the stand down policy did not apply to this player. Is there anything more fundamentally Rugby League than this one?
NRL player Curtis Scott Tasered after allegedly punching officer in the face (Australia Day 2020) https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/nrl-player-curtis-scott-tasered-after-allegedly-punching-officer-in-the-face-20200127-p53v0w.html
Curtis Scott allegedly assaulted a police officer in January 2020 and faces up to five years in jail if found guilty. Scott, who joined the Canberra Raiders in the off-season from Melbourne Storm, was arrested earlier this year after he allegedly kicked and punched a police officer in Sydney.
New South Wales Police said officers were forced to taser the 22-year-old to subdue him in the early hours of January 27, 2020 after members of the public reported a man "acting erratically" in the Moore Park sports precinct.
Scott was charged with two counts of assault, resisting police, behaving offensively in public and trespassing after being told to leave.
The NRL says he is free to play this season but warns against interpreting its decision as "a view on [his] innocence or guilt". In its statement, the NRL acknowledged Scott's charges were "extremely serious" but added "he should not be prevented from playing whilst he responds to them".
Scott's charges carry a maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment but the NRL had been considering applying its stand-down policy to him regardless.
Raiders coach Ricky sticky Stuart was naturally infuriated over this one, with his high profile and high paid recruit caught up in what can only be described as at best unprofessional. Yet again the old adage applies, nothing good happens after midnight (particularly in the Moore Park precinct after Australia Day). And, certainly as the NRL knows in seasons past, when we start talking Australia Day we usually end up with at least one NRL player going above and beyond .Who can forget what happened to Mitchell Pearce and that poor dog a few years back, after his efforts on an Australia day bonding session went right off the Richter scale.
STOP PRESS
but wait there is more. And this one takes the cake.
Corey Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor stood down by Bulldogs just two days before their NRL season-opener- 10 March 2020
The Bulldogs stood down Corey Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor just two days before their NRL season-opener.The players were issued a show cause notice by the NRL as to why they shouldn’t face further disciplinary action for alleged breaches of the game’s code of conduct.
It is still somewhat unclear as to what the players did but neither is the subject of a criminal investigation (at this stage). What "sources" close to the Sea Eagle can reveal is that it involved young high school girls (apparently over the age of consent) in a room after a trial was played at Port Macquarie.
It is understood that following a “promotional” visit to a local High School Messrs. Harawira-Naera and Okunbor hooked up with a couple of the girls and ended up back in their rooms for a consensual encounter. How these two knuckleheads thought that this was OK is anyone’s guest suffice to say these are NRL players and should be dealt with, with the highest of caution at the best of times.
Port Macquarie is South of Coffs Harbour where a few years back all hell broke loose in similar circumstances. Again, it was the Bulldogs.
Canterbury referred the matter to the NRL Integrity Unit after receiving concerning reports of alleged misconduct by the two players.
Bulldogs CEO Andrew Hill confirmed the players were stood down “Each was issued a show cause notice by the NRL as to why they shouldn’t face further disciplinary action for alleged breaches of the game’s code of conduct,” Hill said.
If this is in fact the case Bulldogs management also have a bit to answer for in failing to issue both Harawira-Naera and Okunbor with the simplest of instructions prior to the school visit - that being “do not f#@K any of the students”.
All the Sea Eagle can say is why do Clubs let players of limited mental ability or capacity, make decisions of any kind. Why do they play trials at seaside locations like Port Macquarie at all? The only place the Bulldogs should play a trial is in Parklea against the best local 17 inmates. There will be more to play out in this one. Rest assured. The Sea Eagle is thinking St George player Jack De Belin here.

No game no life season 2
No Game No Life is a famous Japanese light novel arrangement composed by Yū Kamiya. The narrative of No Game No Life rotates around a gathering of gamer who are tested to beat the divine force of games. The main period of the arrangement turned out blockbuster and individuals are frantically sitting tight for No Game No Life season 2.
In this article, we will discuss everything that we know so far about No Game No Life season 2. As a matter of first importance, you should realize that there has been no official declaration with respect to the season 2 of No Game No Life. The producers of the arrangement probably won't have made any official declaration however we would clearly have NGNL season 2 soon. The Seven Deadly Sins Season 4: Here's all that we know up until this point
Also Check Bleach Fillers List
Fanatics of No Game No Life have not as yet disregarded the arrangement since their 2018 anime A Place Further Than The Universe had an Easter egg exhibiting a banner of No Game No Life giving us trust in season 2.
Other than arrangement, the film, which was titled No Game, No Life Zero, was discharged in July 2017 and stamped $6.3 million USD. It is evident they will concoct No Game No Life season 2 as Madhouse has no lack of substance with regards to delivering new season since there are six volumes accessible for the creation of season 2.
Utilizing the measure of substance Madhouse at present has, they can without much of a stretch produce 24 scenes implying that they really have substance for season 2 as well as season 3 too. The most persuading motivation to trust No Game No Life season 2 will be coming is that Madhouse has delivered a season 3 for Overlord despite the fact that the deals of the second period of Overlord failed and did more terrible than the primary period of No Game No Life.
No Game No Life Plot
The plot of No Game No Life rotates around two kin named Sora and Shiro and they are amazing gamers. At some point, both the kin were tested to overcome the divine force of games. They developed as triumphant and are offered to face a daily reality such that revolves around games. They clearly acknowledge it trusting it a joke and brought to a realty known as Disboard.
In this world, there are no physical clashes or contentions, yet rather clashes that are unraveled by means of ongoing interaction. Once in Disboard, the pair challenge and beat all the 16 decision players.

Since the time the main season finished, there have been a few reports doing the rounds via web-based networking media expressing No Game No Life Season 2 discharge date. Nonetheless, there has been no official declaration is made with respect to the equivalent.
On the off chance that anything to pass by bits of gossip, No Game No Life season 2 is probably going to be out in 2020. Notwithstanding, by and by, this is just hypothesis as there has been no official word. When the official declaration is made, we will refresh this article.

8 SPD Books Regarding Fragments
IN THIS MONTH'S SPD CLICKHOLE By Lizzy Lemieux
Qualms from my most recent movie theater experience: I could hear the entire soundtrack to the Aretha Franklin movie next door, the snackbar did not sell snowcaps, and the ˜film˜ I was actually there to see was formulaic. Sometimes it feels like I'm watching the same story over and over. And over. And if they're recycling storylines, can't I just recycle my ticket and stop shelling out 12 dollars for each show?
Sometimes I just want a story that breaks the mold. Which conveniently brings us to this month's SPD handpicked theme: FRAGMENT. These 8 handpicked books beat up linear narrative and stuff it in the trunk. They abhor the teachers 'one person speaks at a time' rule. They spurn every plot-hole ridden time travel film. They tell stories in broken pieces. They raise their multiple voices until it's a cacophony sans a single narrator. The go back and forth in time without almost having sex with their mother and disappearing from family photos.
Moon: Letters, Maps, Poems (Tarpaulin Sky Press, 2018) begins with storytelling as it existed at its inception: as myth. Dedicated to "mythical women of [her] childhood". Jennifer S. Cheng writes, "In the story of the Lady in the Moon, there is only one ending: to live out her nights as a captive, over and over, as if some necessary penance, as if a sorrow to see a woman paper-thin against the lesser light." Cheng pushes this singularity into multiplicity, presenting all possibilities for the lady in the moon's departure from earth, exploring the question of feminine independence and love freed from "penance". "A woman is a builder...if the lady in the moon were to ask questions of construction, if she were to ask for tools and then drown the blueprint", muses Cheng. In many ways, Moon: Letters, Maps, Poems has drowned the blueprint for linear narrative, choosing instead to explore myths of fragment, told from multiple perspectives, and from multiple beginnings, middles, and ends.
Butcher Paper (Scablands Books, 2017), a graphic novel by Simeon Mills, tells the story of a father's endeavor to teach his teenage son to read, if only to prove his ex-wife that he is a capable caretaker. The larger, alcohol-tinged narrative gives way to bizarre fragments of school-supplied "readers" filled with animal-human hybrids and grotesque supernatural manifestations of masculinity, relationships and loss.
Sightings: Selected Works 2002-2005 (1913 Press, 2001) A collection of Chin Yu Pai's concrete poems on love hotels, gymnasiums, and food. Each poem reimagines concrete form, from eye tests, to playwriting, to nutritional facts on snack labels, fragmenting the idea of form. Line breaks create innuendo, sexuality and politics surfacing in the mundane details: hairpins are aligned with rubbers through branding, and a personified Wells Fargo converses with Sam Wong, although translation barrs true communication.
American Romances: Essays (City Lights Publishers, 2009) Irreverent nostalgia fuels Rebecca Browns essays, which use pop culture icons as trail markers while Brown traipses through American lineage, from Hawthorn and Puritanical Salem to Ellen as the girl next door ideal which Brown asserts is, and always has been, "a big old chummy dyke." Brown traces facets of modern culture back to their predecessors, revealing American strengths and flaws are not new but simply repackaged. "Witnessing" returns as as-seen-on-tv (and social media) oversharing returns as Brown's personal narrative in American Romances. It is a true romance for, as Brown writes, "Everytime you read a book you read what you desire".
ESL or You Weren't Here (Nightboat Books, 2017) frames Aldrin Valdez's story, of immigration from the Philippines to New York, in terms of language, weaving filipino and english together until their double meanings fractures cultural understanding. As Valdez writes, "And even if/ I didn't have polio/ my family in the Philippines/ still used the word/ to name/ my inability/ to walk or to walk without/ pain./ Just as we used/ Colgate/ to refer to any tube of toothpaste." Voices are split at the syllable, the page is re-oriented horizontally, turning over and over "forced migration", "vestiges of colonialism", sickness, death, and mourning.
What We Must Remember (Bamboo Ridge Press, 2017) is a Renshi, a form of Japanese linked poem, in remembrance of the rape of Thalia Massie and the subsequent charges brought against five Hawaiian men which lead to the kidnapping of Horace Ida and the murder of Joseph Kahahawai. In his introduction, John P Rosa writes, "And to remember is more than just to call to mind. It is to re-remember, to put pieces together in an attempt to make things whole." This renshi, a collaboration between four artists, Christy Passion, Ann Inoshita, Juliet S. Kono, and Jean Yamasaki Toyama, envisions 'pieces' in varying forms, including epistolary, persona, and dialogue poems, held together by "historical realities".
Flarf: An Anthology of Flarf (Edge Books, 2017) Google Search: What is Flarf? Result: “a kind of corrosive, cute, or cloying, awfulness. Wrong. Un-P.C. Out of control. ‘Not okay.’" Or: a form of protest poetry from post 9/11 America designed to force examinations of 'good taste' in art and politics. Search: What is Flarf: An Anthology of Flarf? Result: an inexplicable collection of 21st Century avant garde-poetry, which sourced material from the web during its "wild west" infancy. This dada-esque movement appropriates jargon readers might remember from 200's chain emails, chat rooms, and suggested searches, and collages digitally-sourced fragments to create comic, vulgar, and comically vulgar poems.
Concordance (Kelsey Street Press, 2016) Like much of Mei-Mei Berssenbrugge's work, Concordance began with a resonant image: a dandelion. This collaboration between Berssenbrugge, Kiki Smith, and Ann McKeown explores the transitory properties of nature and writing, as in "The way milkweed filling the space above a field is 'like' reading." For Mei-Mei, the writing process itself is fragmented. Working from "altered" and appropriated texts, she takes notes of resonant images encountered while reading, cuts out the notes, and rearranges the clippings until their proximity to each other forges new connections. She says: "Usually I consider all fragments the same as the whole, like holograms. But one day, looking at the horizon in Utah, I said: 'Where sky touches the ground is not the same as the whole.'"

June 10 Dancitron Movie Night - Halloween (2018)
Soundwave is in trouble with the Iacon police. Not for accidentally owning a deployer in stasis for seven years. For illegally planting a seed in the crystal gardens. His punishment is community service.
Prowl is slightlydisappointed in Soundwave, but mostly thinks the ankle tracker is overkill.
Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:19 PM After attacking the video wall with a repair kit for the better part of an hour, Soundwave finally gets a passable signal to come through. He hopes this is an entertaining film, because otherwise he's going to fill out a whole lot of reports with a lot more iciness than is strictly necessary or pleasant to read. For now, he'll just park himself on the couch and wait. jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 8:22 PM ((when you accept a friend invite from someone you were playing overwatch with, only to find out their like 12 and beg you turn rejoin the game after 9)) Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:22 PM And Prowl will park himself right next to Soundwave. He is pleased to see that Soundwave isn't under arrest. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:23 PM ((aww))
Soundwave is not under arrest, no. He's not a particularly happy camper, but he is, at least, not in jail. That ups his mood by about 5000% from where it could've been. He is going to lean on Prowl straight away and lift his leg. Look. Look at this leg, Prowl. Do you see. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:26 PM ... He sees a leg. His mun, however, is not certain what Prowl should be observing about it. Besides its beauty. He's DEFINITELY observing its beauty though. Soundwave is welcome to demonstrate his leg to Prowl any time he wants. jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 8:27 PM Jazz is wandering in and also curious about the raised leg Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:29 PM There is a THING on that leg. A thing that does not belong there, and has never been there in the whole time either of those mechs has known him. It is ugly, and clunky, and anyone who's had anything to do with the law for more than half an hour should know what it is.
He's gotten in trouble. There is a tracker on him. It's horrible. jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 8:30 PM ((I'll try and keep up with chat, but don't know if I'll watch the movie. Got an ocular migraine starting)) Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:30 PM There'sa predacon carefully poking her head in and ppering around. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:30 PM ((no problem. if you can't stay with chat don't force yourself to do that either; don't screw around with migraines)) He lowers his leg to nod to the Predacon queen. It's been a while. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:30 PM Prowl is stunned, crestfallen, and devastated, in roughly that sequence. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:31 PM ((hello, rabbit still isn't working for me, hope its okay to peek in)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:31 PM ((five minutes til start, we're goin quick tonight on account of lateness - and ye it's fine)) Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:31 PM [Rabbit is forever a butt] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:31 PM ((am i the only one here who's gonna see the movie)) Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 8:31 PM ((possibly)) KwehToday at 8:31 PM ((I am! jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 8:31 PM ((I get them often enough that it's more annoyance than anything. What sort of moovie is this?)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:31 PM ((halloween (2018) )) ((with all that implies)) KwehToday at 8:32 PM ((will decide on a character once I'm done crying about Lea Salonga's beautiful voice Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:32 PM ((IT'S ME AND KWEH, THE LONE AUDIENCE)) Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:32 PM ((I'm hopfully getting much better internet in a few weeks or month)) Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:32 PM [Blaster has rabbit open beside me, but I've got Fringe on while sewing. jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 8:32 PM Jazz snickers a bit. "What ya do to get in trouble, wave?" Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:32 PM ((better internet! good luck!)) Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:33 PM [I'm always here for the company. :blue_heart: Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:33 PM Soundwave doesn't need to look at Prowl to know that's the sequence of emotions he just experienced. He knows what a stickler for the law Prowl is. He knows how he's disappointed the mech. There is shame. Shame! ... But not too much shame. Just a little. A scrap.
[[He decided to tell an officer of the law about something reprehensible but unintentional and came away with this.]] jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 8:33 PM ((I know nothing about this movie. Is it more like Halloween town or horror?)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:33 PM ((horror. lots of horror.)) Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:34 PM Ice Quuen carefully settles herself and looks...happyp tired, keeps her wings closed for now, not sure to 'realease the non scary beasties.' Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:34 PM Is this Prowl's fault. Did they arrest him because he didn't know a Minicon was on his shelf. This is an abhorrent miscarriage of justice but what can he do about it?? He can't possibly get involved without implicitly abusing his authority. This is a travesty. A tragedy. Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 8:34 PM ((so much horror Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:34 PM [Horr-or jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 8:34 PM ((Ah. Nope, nope. Not even leaving it open to listen along.)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:35 PM [[Fortunately, bail was low and he can spend some time cleaning up the Praxus gardens as penance. Still. He doesn't like anyone knowing where he is.]] Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:35 PM ((horror? eep)) Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:35 PM He sends Soundwave a couple of apology pings and takes his hand. He's so sorry. This is his fault. How could they be so cruel to Soundwave. Well, he knows how. But WHY. It's unforgivable. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:36 PM Soundwave tilts his head and looks at the hand, slightly confused. What's Prowl apologizing for? But a hand is a hand. He'll snatch it up and lace their fingers together. It's them against the world of horrible, horrible other cops. ProwlToday at 8:36 PM It's fine, the abhorrent miscarrier of justice finally decided it was time to visit Dancitron again. Getting over awkward offenses is easy once you've slapped a tracker on them! Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:37 PM Fiend! Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:37 PM Is there still a peeking Predacon at the door? She might get picked up on the way in. Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 8:37 PM Oh for the love of....well. No, don't do things like that. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:38 PM "... Is community service and a tracker the only punishment you came away with?" Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:38 PM [Also, hiiii Icy!] Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:38 PM The predacon was just entering with a hatching or two under her wings trying to peek out. ((hiii!!)) Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:40 PM No pick up then unless the smalls want uppies. [Nice to see ya around. :3 Still chatting with Fatala/Jeanne?] Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:40 PM [[Yes. They couldn't find any reason to give him a harsher punishment for planting a seed in a garden without permission.]] Hmph. Looking at his own world's Prowl. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:40 PM Prowl blinked. "... What?" Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:40 PM ((off and on, she seems to be really busy)) ProwlToday at 8:40 PM Prowl does not address Soundwave or the Captain for the time being and takes a seat at one of the empty tables. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:42 PM If he can pick up Icy, there will be several intresting sounds no one has heard from her since she was a hatchling. and the tinies would be THRIILLED. Icy? confused as hell but won't bite. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:42 PM [The work stuff of insurance and con prep for next month is prolly keeping her very busy.] Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:42 PM Soundwave waves his unoccupied hand. [[Someone noticed the Harmonex tower seed growing in the Praxus gardens. He couldn't deny it. What if they'd decided to tear it out?]] Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:42 PM ((yeah, she was going to commistion me bor a themed catcher set but had to stop it)) Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:42 PM "Oh! Then—the punishment isn't for the deployer?" Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:43 PM Primus can pick up anyone. All a matter if she'd want to be raised up like a trophy for the sake of fun. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:43 PM ((also i am sorry ahead of time for what stuttering/desyncing there is; i'm having to stream this from browser instead of through theirs because rabbit and vudu don't get along)) Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:43 PM Swoop drags his very banged up self through the front door, chirping and looking around. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:43 PM [[What? No. No, she was quite sensible about that.]] jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 8:43 PM Jazz is considering offering to help spoof the tracker so that Soundwave can make it look like he's wherever he should be, but given the number of Prowls present he'd probably get in trouble for offering. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:43 PM [Aw. Your dreamcatchers are very pretty.] Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:43 PM That's what private comms are for, Jazz. ... Also, you assume he didn't already consider that. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:43 PM ((also please do pick Icy up, she still has no idea who Primus really is, primus. just that mech that played with her hatchlings)) Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:44 PM Swoop hops, skips, limps, and skitters about. "Bird?" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:44 PM [[Greetings, those who have entered lately.]] At Swoop and Primus and others. [[No, no Bird tonight. Next week, perhaps.]] Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:44 PM Swoop deflated, going so far as to stick is sad lil lower lip out at Soundwave. ((I love this theme song. It just gets me pumped every time.)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:45 PM ((hell yeah)) [[Did you think it was about the deployer? Is that - is that why you apologized?]] Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:46 PM VICTORY FOR VEGET- Wrong character. Icy is going to go UP. "Hi." Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:46 PM "Oh. Good, that's—that's good." He paused. "They put a TRACKER on you for unauthorized gardening??" jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 8:47 PM "For a seedlin'? Is it considered an invasive species there, or somethin'?" Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 8:47 PM Quick nod to his alternate. Then going to prod at Primus. "Seriously?!" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:47 PM [[It's from one city and he placed it in another. So, yes.]] Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:47 PM In the absence of a bird-friend, Swoop stands in place, completely unsure of what to do with himself. He didn't plan this far. There isn't a next step. He lives in this exact spot now apparently. jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 8:48 PM Jazz snorts at the youngling and pats the open spot next to him. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:48 PM [[That, and something to do with his constantly traveling to another planet. Afraid he'll stay there, he imagines.]] [[Swoop, do sit.]] Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:49 PM That'll do. Swoop takes a few long steps and plop himself next to Jazz. This is where he lives now apparently. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:49 PM He gives the tracker a distasteful look. "I'd consider it... excessive." That was the politest word he'd give it. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:50 PM ((I love the quiet badass energy she's got POURING off her already.)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:51 PM ((she looks like she'd like to slap both of them into next week already)) Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:51 PM There is something like a half mew of a cat and a startled owl sound that came out of the big predacon as she;s hefted up. Wings snapped out in reflex, one would like smack the lord of light and the other bonking the ceiling. It freed her tag alongs to scramble and one jump ship to keep from falling off.Ice Queen had no shame in giveing yipping chirps like if she had been the hatchling instead, one leg kicking in the air. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:51 PM [[Is five a large number for humans?]] Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:51 PM ((She's tryign to decide if $3k is enough or if she could beat them up for more)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:51 PM [[It seems a lot for such a short-lived species to accomplish, but he doesn't know.]] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:52 PM "For murders? It's five more than most humans." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:52 PM Soft huff. That's fair. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:52 PM "... Five more than most Cybertronians, before we all became soldiers." Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:52 PM Swoop pulls his legs up underneath himself. He rocks a little in place, cause holding still is for nerds. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:53 PM [[Why don't you mind your own business, human.]]
[[Ah. Yes. War does tend to color one's perception of murder.]] Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:53 PM "Me Swoop can murder people." He's contributing to the conversation now. You're welcome. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:53 PM [[Five in one night?]] Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:54 PM "Five NOTHING! Keheh. That one combiner. No big deal." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:54 PM [[It is a big deal if they are all together at the time.]] Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:54 PM That was an unexpected sound that was rather amusing. No harm was done to the building, though he did 'ow' being smacked in the face. Looks up at the Predacon held in victory with a bemused chuckle. "Been a long while, hm?" Puts Icy back down so she could gather the little runaways before they got into anything. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:55 PM "Us Dinobots fight Devastator a LOTS of time." : > Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:55 PM Grimaces at this talk of combiner murder. "Devastator's six, not five." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:55 PM Oh, hm. That was somewhat insensitive of him, wasn't it. Apology ping. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 8:56 PM "Five, six, same whatever kehehheh." ProwlToday at 8:56 PM Prowl finally speaks. "The Crystal Gardens are protected and the introduction of a possible invasive species has the potential to destroy what little regrowth had occurred since the planet's revival."
She pauses, weighing her next sentence.
"Ultra Magnus felt he was a flight risk against my recommendation in an effort to appease the governors." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 8:56 PM Mumbled thought. [[This one has all the tact Frenzy can bring to bear.]] Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:57 PM "A looong time...." Ice Queen said, her head pulled back and staring with a wide optic at thenew mech. Racer was clinging to his head and.... um, where did the other one go? Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 8:58 PM Well, he hopes the other little one is not getting into trouble. But, he's still giving Primus a look. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:58 PM "A flight risk over one seed." Tsk. Somehow Prowl didn't quite buy that excuse. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:58 PM "Good to feel young again." Pets Racer to calm him down. Have you tried his legs or back? Plenty of spaces to hide a small mech. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:58 PM The new one is just sitting on a chair mewing confused. little feline one. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 8:58 PM "... Is the garden alright?" Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 8:59 PM Oh, there they are. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 8:59 PM RAcer is offically draft horse size now so, hope that's okay. He's a little dragonic predacon like icy. just 'small,' and clings to new perch. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:00 PM [[Hmph. Big words from a youngling who knows nothing of being hunted.]] Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:00 PM Oh! This movie was pretty boring. Suddenly, Swoop is VERY into this. "Her pretty good shoot!" ProwlToday at 9:00 PM "Our botanist is still determining that." Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:01 PM Little cheetah cat-insulted look if that was aimed at him. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 9:01 PM Doesn't have any issues in the slightest. He is Primus. And is listening to the conversation near Soundwave[Slendy] while feeling very berrated by the closer Soundwave[CC]. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:01 PM "Who 'it'?" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:02 PM [[She ought to be a good shot if she spent forty years practicing. And they are referring to the human who tried to kill her four decades ago.]] ProwlToday at 9:02 PM "Michael." Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:02 PM "Me Swoop almost forty!" Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:03 PM Smokescreen is coming in, not bothering with a cloak to hide his missing doorwings tonight, looks at the screen, and is just about ready to leave. "Soundwave? This- uh, is this the movie?" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:03 PM [[Yes. You're a bit late. Do you require catching up?]] Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 9:03 PM And he should. Five steps in. Five. Steps. And Primus is already spooking others. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:04 PM Ice Queen is refloding her wings, hope she has not smacked anyone. Looks up to check if she did a dent. Looks up at Primus and her hatchling, puzzled chirps comes out. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:04 PM "Forty years is over half a human lifespan. But, in return, it looks like she hasn't been... living during those years. It's correct that she's prepared for the worst; but in preparing, she has little of a life worth living. Both she and her... offspring's offspring have valid perspectives." Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:04 PM "Uh. Maybe. I, uh, saw the earlier movies the other day." Granted, it wasn't a fun experience, and it led to his doorwings coming off in the first place, but he still saw them! Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:05 PM Swoop gives Prowl a weird look. He's very unclear on this whole topic. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:05 PM [[Hm. Perhaps. Still, they seem uninclined to help.]] Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 9:06 PM Giving Racer scritches as if this was perfectly normal behavior. "Yes?" Looking at Icy. Mentally nudges Smokescreen. You okay...? Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:07 PM Smokescreen finally realizes he's been standing at the door for a few moments now, and heads on inside, nodding at Primus, maybe sticking close to Primus. Very close. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:08 PM Eeeeeeeeeeeeever so slowly, Swoop sliiiides down off the couch like he's melting onto the floor. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:08 PM [[Well, if you decide you need to know, tell him. Find a seat somewhere comfortable.]] Judging by what led to Smokey's doors coming off the last few times, he's going to assume the mech's back hurts. Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 9:08 PM Smokescreen had better be on the other side then. Because he's attempting to keep the deity out of trouble. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:08 PM [[Stay in the vehicle, child.]] Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 9:09 PM Wraps one of his wings around Smokescreen of he's that close. Would nuzzle, but his helm is a host to a big/small Predacon child. jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 9:09 PM New subject to absorb. Jazz has zeroed in on the new Prowl. "So.. with the gardens. The seedlings need to be kept sort of regional for climate reasons, right? They don't always grow well in other places. Is there a garden renewal program with the place the seedling is from? Or a way to move it to a climate controlled area for it?" Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:10 PM The queen.. isn't sure but remembers to get her bulk out of the way, Racer is leaning into the touch happily and is not stressed, so no over protective predacon. Ice queen checks on the other hatchling...who has taken over the chair. That's his spot now tank you. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:10 PM He is now a puddle. He is a liquid pteroborb. Just all over the floor. jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 9:10 PM Jazz is giving Swoop a perplexed look. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:10 PM Limbs everywhere. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:11 PM "The child has terrible gun safety." jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 9:11 PM "You okay, bitlet?" Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:11 PM Smokescreen's at the other side, looking at Primus, and then Soundwave, leaning back against Primus' wing. "I'm pretty comfy here, Soundwave! But thank you!" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:11 PM [[The place the seedling is from is a pile of rubble created from a bigger pile of rubble. As with a few other places on Cybertron, no one has settled there yet. He has a few other seeds, but they are in stasis.]] Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:12 PM Swoop continues splaying out on the floor, oblivious to the fact he's apparently a bitlet. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:12 PM [[And he doesn't think the child needs to worry about gun safety anymore. Unfortunately.]] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:12 PM "The guy he shot could have benefitted from the child's gun safety." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:13 PM [[That is true.]] Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 9:13 PM Changes which servo was giving scritches to Racer so Smokescreen could have some too. Good boys. Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:14 PM Smokescreen is shutting his audials off for a moment, but leans in as he's scritched. He's good? He's really good? Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:15 PM Ice Queen will just sit and then loaf on Primus' other side, still not sure who he is. but her hatchling likes him. Racer will perch happily and hang onto the head with his tail too....it may or may not cling to his face or over the otics as RAcer shifts to look around from Epic Pertch. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:15 PM [[Yes. Yes, that is what you should do.]] jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 9:15 PM Jazz is just gonna scoop up Swoop and put him in his lap. He's not paying enough attention to the movie to know what caused the apparent melting, but he's going to give the wings soothing pets. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:16 PM From the floor comes a chirped, "Halloween!" ProwlToday at 9:16 PM "There is, though I'm not involved aside from volunteering, so I couldn't tell you the exact details of the renewal program and what steps will be taken." Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:16 PM And by floor we of course mean sofa. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:16 PM Prowl starts fiddling with Soundwave's fingers. He's not doing anything specific, just checking them out. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:17 PM ((if y'all have teeth-related fears look away when he sticks his hand over the stall for about 15-20 sec)) Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 9:17 PM Smokescreen is a very good boy. Really needs to stop getting himself into such trouble, but he was a very good boy. Can't exactly see much due to Racer, so he can't observe much anymore. Does know that Soundwave[CC] may have been dislodged from his spot by Icy. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:18 PM The predacon can just be Loafing near! Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:18 PM ((oh man... tooth stuff.)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:18 PM Soundwave doesn't quite know what to make of this. Prowl's never really - this is different than usual. He doesn't mind; it's kind of nice to be examined. He places a small blue question mark on his visor and leans forward, curious. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:19 PM He answers the question mark with an affection ping. Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:20 PM Smokescreen turns his audials back on, realizing it's much, much more effective to look away from the screen. "Oh yeah- sorry, Soundwave, I didn't bring cookies or anything this week. But I can still treat myself to drinks and stuff like normal, right?" Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:20 PM ((WHOA was there a frame of Michael's face in there????)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:20 PM ((when??)) Oh! Is this just admiration? Did he start Prowl off on that with the leg thing earlier? That's nice; he'll happily indulge Prowl on that. Maybe offer up the other hand and bob his head. There are a few small wear differences between them. He uses one more often for typing and one more often for repair work. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:20 PM ((He like turned really fast to pull the dude around and I swear there was like one solid frame with a face.)) Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 9:21 PM He is going to huff, and keep watch. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:21 PM Hm. Comparison time. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:21 PM ((quite possible; there is in the original too i think - and they do a lot of mirroring since he's basically trying to restart the night over)) Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:21 PM ((sorry if I missed something)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:21 PM [[Yes, of course you may. ... Get a few extra if you need.]] At Smokescreen. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:22 PM Swoop yaaaaaaaaaawns. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:23 PM ((fuck's sake. give us a second y'all)) jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 9:23 PM ((sup?)) Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:23 PM ((rabbit crapped out)) Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:23 PM ((oh my)) Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:23 PM "Really? Thanks, Soundwave! Any special occasion, or do you just need to get rid of some snacks?" Smokescreen is slowly moving from under Primus' wing towards the snacks, using any nearby furniture to support himself. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:23 PM Slowly, Swoop turns to look around at the whole room. Who is here? Not Bird, that's who. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:24 PM ((vudu is the one that went pbblbbt, gimme a sec)) [[Just plenty of snacks to share.]] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:24 PM ((the one time it WASN'T rabbit)) Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:25 PM RAcer is carefuly hopping down to a shoulder, still trying to hold onto Primus with his head as he flods his wings up. feels safer there, and total shoulder predacon now. Swoop (medicalmurdersaurus)Today at 9:25 PM ((Ahh. This movie is a lot of fun but I'm fading fast. Let's just have Swoop zonk out too. Feel free to get up to all sorts of hilarious shenanigans with the past out dino lol)) Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 9:25 PM Smokescreen, would you like temporary doorwings to help with balance? They'd be there but not. And hello, Racer. You're his parrot now? Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:26 PM ((aaaaaah goodnight ;; )) ((finish it some time if you never have seen it! it's good)) Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:26 PM ((rest well!)) racer is a parrot on primus's shoulder. he can jump down though! he's a LOT bigger now though ProwlToday at 9:27 PM Prowl perks with interest at the reveal there. How clever. jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 9:27 PM Jazz now has a dinobot sleeping on him. Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:27 PM Actually, that would be nice! Smokescreen would probably be overjoyed if Primus did that. Absolutely overjoyed. For now, though, he's just made it to the snack table, and is grabbing as much as his hands can hold. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:28 PM If Prowl is interested, the hand with the sharper claws is the one he uses for repairs. Comes in handy when you don't have a wire stripper around, y'know? Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:29 PM "Before getting kicked out, she could have at least bothered to inform them WHOSE bus crashed. They could have at least known to lock the doors in case." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:29 PM [[Yes, she does fail to make that clear. Then again, he doesn't know there's anyone else she would be paranoid about.]] Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 9:30 PM Racer can jump down to his momma if he wants. Primus looked over to Smokescreen with a soft hum. Moves one of his servos for guidance to 'return' Smokescreen's doorwings for the night. Unless he'd want them to be permanent? He's bee very out of touch and doesn't want to make Smokescreen unhappy with this. He's already got Soundwave[Slendy] unhappy for reasons he's unaware of. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:30 PM Prowl's noticed one hand is sharper than the other—that's the fun hand—but he's never really carefully compared them like this. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:30 PM (("the fun hand" ahaha)) Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:31 PM "... How long are you being tracked?" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:31 PM [[Two days. Then it's decided what he'll have to do.]] An irritable vent. [[It's horrible.]] Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:32 PM RAcer falls off, thumps on ground and rolls before popping up. He meant to do that. Really. Racer grooms hismself while his younger sibling laughs at him. He dos get a lick from his carrier. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:32 PM "I thought they already decided? Or are you at risk of more punishment than community service?" jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 9:32 PM "Ah. Two days is short, though." Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:33 PM While he'd love to have them back now, he's actually getting some new ones soon! So it's fine, really, probably. Still, the moment he has them back for the moment, he's spinning around the main area, taking a few jumps, and maybe a fall, just to enjoy them again. "Frag yeah! Frag yeah! Did, uh- how'd you do this, Primus, sir? Are these, uh, the same ones that I lost?" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:34 PM [[He's already doing his work by connection so they can't find out what he's doing and where he's going over there. A good thing Ravage signed on as a proper employee; he can handle tracking by himself for a while.]]
[[The current decision is for interfering with the gardens without permission. What to do about the invasive species bit is another matter.]] He'll probably bribe the gardens and try to get the seed back. They can't complain then, right? [[It's only short if you have nothing to hide from other mechs.]] jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 9:36 PM "It's short if you've had a much longer parole before." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:36 PM [[Long sentences and breakouts. No paroles.]] Soundwave looks to Prowl. [[You didn't hear the second part of that first sentence.]] jazz(unkillablejazz)Today at 9:37 PM "Did those too." Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 9:38 PM That's very good news! "In a manner of speaking, yes. It isn't too difficult to track down your signature. I'm very familiar with it after all." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:38 PM Tiny sneer. [[Abandon the fool.]] Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:38 PM Racer starts sniffing about, may he visit a few mechs? Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:39 PM [[Good.]] What were they saying? [[And what were you given long sentences for?]] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:39 PM "I'll let it slide." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:39 PM A huff. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:41 PM "What's a breakout or two when I already knew that you're a dangerous rogue gardener." He tapped Soundwave's tracker with his foot. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:44 PM Soundwave's mouth opens and shuts once before he determines that this is a joke. He bops Prowl's foot back with the tracked leg.
[[A terrible criminal, him. A threat to pristine grounds all across Cybertron.]] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:45 PM Huff. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:45 PM And then a mild frown. [[He supposes this puts an end to his idea of planting one in Iacon.]] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:46 PM "Not necessarily. You just have to get permission and ensure that it won't take over the local flora, correct?" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:47 PM He has no idea. He didn't even think about invasive species being a dangerous thing the first time, let alone look things up. He glances to the other Prowl. Help? ((putting the jack o lantern in an aquarium to douse it, how petty)) Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:47 PM Turns out looking away still means hearing the sound, and Smokescreen really isn't for that during the more intense scenes, and is going to pretty much cling to Primus during all of the scary-sounding scenes. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 9:50 PM Smokescreen will get back rubs between the doorwings. "Not my sort of movie either." Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:51 PM Racer puts a paw on Smokescreen's leg, not so tiny predacon sniffs at him. remembers him! ProwlToday at 9:52 PM "The Captain is correct. Local flora in Iacon is scarce to begin with as it is and there are fewer citizens to interfere with your seedling's growth." Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:53 PM "What is it that you're trying to plant?" Ice Queen asks from her spot. Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:54 PM "I mean, I enjoyed the first movie when I watched it, it's just- it kinda reminded me of slag." He's resting himself against Primus, probably not about to let go for the rest of the night. Still! Racer gets a pat on the helm! Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:54 PM "And if it's a nearly extinct plant, it would probably merit protection." ProwlToday at 9:54 PM "It would." Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 9:55 PM "Slag? The Dinobot or the metal trash?" Nuzzles Smokescreen's helm. Strokes the back of it soothingly. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 9:56 PM "Are there no semi isolated or isolated villages or places on you cybertron that can handle this plant?" Ice queen askes, "Or an inside tank or guarden room?" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:56 PM Oh, that's... that's actually sort of exciting, in a quiet way. Little satisfaction glyph on screen and everything.
[[A Harmonex tower seed.]] To Icy. [[Difficult. They have to be well tuned and shaped as they grow.]]
But if they can be protected... [[Perhaps he could hire someone to tend to it. We earn more than enough in excess for that...]] Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 9:57 PM "What? No, no- a phrase. It reminded me of stuff that, uh, happened when I saw the original movie." The petting helps, but his optics are not coming back on until the music stops. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 9:58 PM "Oh." All good, Smokescreen. Primus isn't judging you for the 'nopenope' at the movie. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 9:59 PM ((god damn it. hold on it did the spinning thing again)) Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 9:59 PM ((*taps rabbit)) ((oh there it go)) ProwlToday at 9:59 PM ((punts vudu)) Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 10:00 PM Racer walks carefully over to sit near, but not too close, he does want to say hello to soundwave and prowl, show off so to say. But only if its okay. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 10:00 PM Soundwave hasn't seen Racer in forever. He pats a knee. Would Racer like to come up for a moment? Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 10:01 PM Prowl glances over. "Pbbt." And returns his attention to one of Soundwave's hands. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 10:03 PM Something that's almost an actual chuckle. He missed hearing Prowl make that noise. [[What are you looking for, if he might ask?]] Usually when someone gives them this much an inspection, they want to know one thing. [[The mid-finger seams are where they open and fold to rearrange the joints when the deployers dock...]] Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 10:03 PM RAcer would love to! He trots over and shows that he is...tanker then before. The brown predacon hatchling is more youngling, about the size of a draft horse instead of pony! he puts his head up on soundwave's leg first. Not everyone wants a big dragonet on them now. ProwlToday at 10:03 PM "This won't end well." Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 10:03 PM "Pbbbt!" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 10:05 PM Soundwave is much stronger than he looks, and he's used to being piled on by smaller bots. There's plenty of room next to him on the couch for Racer to hop up. Pat pat the space. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 10:06 PM The youngling hops up neatly, wiggles around to loaf, his wings are under control now and shamelessly plots head on soundwave's leg again. "Hi." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 10:07 PM Exclamation point. He speaks? [[Hello. Doing well, youngling?]] Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 10:08 PM "Ye! Yes! New clutch! new friends!" Racer chirps, he can talk much better, but not all the time. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 10:09 PM "Nothing in particular." But at the suggestion, he traces the seam. "Can you do it when a deployer isn't docking?" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 10:09 PM ((puff you're gonna wanna look away)) ((ok it shhhhhould be ok. there might be another brief flash of it next time they show the cops, i don't remember)) [[Ah! That is very good. You must be a proud older sibling.]]
And then, glancing at his hands. [[He tends not to, if only to conserve energy and protect the mechanisms. But, in the interest of medical demonstration--]] He stares, flexes the fingers... and there they go, splitting and rearranging the sections to show the very delicate insides and a hidden joint. [[These spaces here are where the relevant portions of Rumble and Frenzy's armor lock in.]] Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 10:14 PM Racer holds very, very still just in case. But he does radiate young pride, and glances where the new hatchling is still catting on a chair under Icy's watch. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 10:15 PM Prowl pulls his hands back, to avoid potentially damaging the sensitive parts that weren't meant to be exposed. He just looks, studying. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 10:19 PM [[There used to be more under here.]] Nodding to the revealed components. [[But we streamline where we must to balance the strain. It is so elsewhere as well.]]
A glance to Racer. [[It doesn't scare you, does it, young one?]] Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 10:19 PM Don't mind him. He's just...going to try and stay awake. He's paying the movie no attention, and Primus is staying out of trouble. For the most part. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 10:20 PM "....no." The young predacon has been groomed by insecticon madables and acarriar with fangs bigger them him at one point, he's not scared, but confused, "Different?" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 10:20 PM [[Only to some. No stranger than most partial transformations, in his opinion.]] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 10:22 PM "You can close it. Thank you." Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 10:22 PM Well Soundwave[Slendy] is busy with Prowl, and now Racer, so he's not had the chance to talk. He has a feeling that'd bring up a conversation best left until nearly all but three were there. Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 10:22 PM ....that wasn't a challenge. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 10:23 PM A nod. They seal up and return to the usual two segments. He wiggles them to make sure everything went back in the right place before offering them up again. If there was anything else Prowl wanted to see, that is. He doesn't know. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 10:23 PM Trouble happens. Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 10:23 PM Do not Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 10:23 PM He's seen enough for now. He takes Soundwave's hand. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 10:24 PM Soundwave hums a quiet note or three, soothed. Now to see what happens in this final hunt of the masked one's... Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 10:24 PM Ice Queen can help with trouble later on if wanted! shedoes have a ship full of pirates. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 10:25 PM As if he wants to cause trouble! Something happened and he just wants to know what it was that made him feel alienated. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 10:25 PM and hatchlings Racer is debating on being daring, but he STILL remembers that kick. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 10:25 PM "... The youngest one should get a gun too. In case." ProwlToday at 10:26 PM Laughs shortly at the daughter's trick. Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 10:27 PM Primus, you're going to be the death of him at this rate. ProwlToday at 10:27 PM "Clever." Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 10:28 PM Says the one who doesn't have to keep track of him. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 10:28 PM "Do they still have guns? I feel like they should shoot him a couple times through the bars. Just to be sure. He's remarkably durable." ProwlToday at 10:29 PM "I think they left them in the basement." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 10:29 PM [[Quite.]] To the first Prowl. [[And he would fire several rounds, himself. Yes.]] To the other. Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 10:29 PM Doesn't. But is trying to. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Today at 10:30 PM Racer noddles his neck and head over the could to peer at peeds, and then blinks at the mentioned thing before..... is that a chew toy? Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 10:30 PM [[Rather satisfying. Closure for three generations. How fortunate they are to have found it together.]] Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 10:31 PM You know he can just teleport you back to your proper universe, yeah? Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 10:31 PM Don't Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 10:32 PM Hmm... Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Today at 10:32 PM It's rude so do not do it Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 10:33 PM Smokescreen finally looks at the screen again, "Wait, wait, it's done?" ProwlToday at 10:33 PM "Yes." Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Today at 10:33 PM "Frag, that was, uh, good!" He had to look away for the whole movie, whoops. "That was, er, fun, Soundwave! Thank you!" Primus [the-lord-of-light]Today at 10:33 PM Soundwave[CC] is moved a foot to the side. Such rude he is. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 10:34 PM A puzzled sound coms from Ice Queen, how did that happne? ProwlYesterday at 10:35 PM "They should have shot him." Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Yesterday at 10:35 PM Well, now he's mildly disoriented. "Can you not do things like that?" Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 10:35 PM "A few more times, yes. And used a method of elimination that didn't necessitate leaving the building without confirming his death." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 10:35 PM [[You're welcome, Smokescreen.]] He'll offer a polite fiction. He knows Smokey couldn't pay attention to most of it. ProwlYesterday at 10:35 PM And on that lovely note, she's going to disengage from the video and stand up to leave. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 10:36 PM [[They really ought have stuck around to check the ashes.]] He'll give Prowl a nod farewell. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 10:36 PM "I could." You tempted him to be a spiteful child. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 10:36 PM "Evening, alternate." ProwlYesterday at 10:36 PM Pings Soundwave, alternate, and Smokescreen goodbye before leaving. Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Yesterday at 10:37 PM He pings Prowl back! Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Yesterday at 10:37 PM Very tempted to give him a mental jab for that. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 10:38 PM Myeeeh. Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Yesterday at 10:40 PM Behave, damnit. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 10:41 PM Huff. Pets Smokescreen. Just has to talk with your alternate, that's all. Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Yesterday at 10:42 PM Wonderful Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 10:45 PM Soundwave shakes his head. Bit of mental static coming off Primus there for a second. Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Yesterday at 10:45 PM Smokescreen leans into the petting, still clinging to Primus Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 10:48 PM Helm pets. "You going to head back home, Smokescreen?" Glances towards the couch. It has quieted down post-movie, but it still is a bit too crowded to speak up about whatever happened two weeks ago. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 10:48 PM He's feeling Watched. He squeezes Soundwave's hand. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 10:49 PM Squeeze back. He can feel the glance too. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 10:49 PM Racer chirps at prowl. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 10:50 PM ((public stream end in about 5 minutes y'all, i forgot to mark time but that's roughly it)) Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Yesterday at 10:50 PM "I guess- I guess I will. Eventually. To the medbay. Do you wanna come with me, Primus, sir?" Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 10:50 PM He nods at Racer. Ah, yes, hello—Prowl was distracted by Soundwave's hands, wasn't he? "Are you heading home now?" Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 10:52 PM "I've got something to do first, but I can join you afterwards." Smiles at Smokescreen. Kisses his forehelm. "Do you want to pick out a movie we can watch together? I'll stay with you until you get your new doorwings then, if you want." [Smokescreen is best snuggle buddy for Primus.] Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 10:53 PM Racer thinks so, but slowly noodles his head over to head bump at prowl's hand. "Pbbt." Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 10:53 PM He pulls his hand back, not sure what Racer wants with it; but then uncertainly sets it down on Racer's head. "Pbbbt." Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 10:56 PM Very pleased little predacon, gives the hand a blep and, "hi! I'm big!" Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 10:58 PM Oh, he's being licked. He's taking his hand back now. "Yes. You are." Comparatively speaking. But from Racer's perspective it was probably the biggest he'd ever been, so. "Were you upgraded?" Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Yesterday at 10:58 PM "That would be awesome, Primus. I don't know what movie I'd like to go for, but- maybe we can watch a musical? Have you heard of Starlight Express?" Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 10:59 PM "I have not. That sounds like a very enjoyable musical though." Smiles. "You've seen it before now?" Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 11:00 PM "I grow!" The blep is still there, he didnt mean to lick. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:00 PM Prowl very slowly nods. "I see." He's heard of that happening in some universes. This is the first time he's SEEN it, though. Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Yesterday at 11:02 PM "It is! It's got trains! I've been meaning to watch it with Astro, but I can see it with you again." Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 11:04 PM "Ha, does it now?" Rubs Smokescreen's helm with a chuckle. "Head back and set it up. You better be seated by the time I arrive or I'm not going to tell you an embarrassing story about Alpha Trion after the movie~." Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 11:05 PM "He's goi g to get at least twice his size before stopping for a while." Ice Queen offered, watching racer for a moment. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:07 PM "How does he get the mass to increase his size?" Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 11:10 PM "We eat metals, ore, minerals and things likenthat." Ice Queen chuckled, tilting her head at them, get him to open his jaws, his denta are heading up. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:12 PM "Oh? Seems... difficult." Wouldn't it be easier to forge bigger parts and armor than to construct them internally? Combining the processes for keeping a body functioning AND the processes to make it grow in one frame seemed crowded. Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 11:15 PM "Its mostly all we've known. I make sure the young get the easiest things. Dusted and sanded metals mixed with energon. " the predacon was being honest, it would be easier, but they just didn't have access to any parts or medics. Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 11:18 PM Light mental nudge to Soundwave[SW], then pings. {You're more quiet than usual. I still want to talk, but I feel tonight is not polite, yes?} Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:19 PM ((if we're gonna get into a Discussion, if we don't get into it soon, i'm gonna have to ask that it be put off for another night. i'm going to bed in 40 minutes)) Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 11:21 PM ((We can do it another time, or prowl can come to dreaded wings. I'm going to bed soon too)) Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 11:21 PM [Puff must sleep.] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:21 PM ((i meant with primus and soundwave actually lmao you're good)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:21 PM ((i'm honestly super dazed rn and am in favor of postponing fancy discussions until next week and then absolutely tackling them at that time)) Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 11:22 PM [gentle pets noodle Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 11:22 PM ((....I'm sorry. I'm going to go take my sick self away now. Good night)) Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 11:22 PM [Icy nuuuu [You feel better though. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:23 PM ((SORRY i'm not trying to run you out, we've been delaying a chat for a couple of weeks and i just wanted to get us coordinated)) ((i didn't want us to try to start it five minutes before i went to bed, is the thing)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:23 PM ((icy you didn't do anything, don't worry,)) ((but if you are sick please rest soonish)) Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 11:24 PM ((I've been miss reading things all night though, plus dyslexia and being sick is just, I know I might have been annoying)) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:24 PM ((nah nah)) Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 11:24 PM [Never annoying friend Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Yesterday at 11:24 PM ((you're good, don't worry Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 11:25 PM [Lot happens at once on movie night Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 11:25 PM ((tired waves I'm going to pass out after cold meds. Just have icy take the kiddos. )) Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 11:25 PM [Rest and recover <3 Icy (Omicrontheicequeen)Yesterday at 11:26 PM ((Do I just leave the server? Was that in the rules?) Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:27 PM Soundwave glances toward Primus at the nudge and ping. He's... still not quite in the mood to talk. He got interrupted from his original thinking by all this mess with Slugfest and the outcome. [[Perhaps next week.]] Maybe he'll have worked out which gifts are safe and which ones aren't by then. Unless something ELSE is secretly a bot and he doesn't know it. He hopes not. ((it'll prevent you getting pinged with all sorts of unnecessary bleeps but honestly nobody remembers so i stopped chasing about it)) Smokescreen (ask-smokescreen)Yesterday at 11:28 PM ((shoot i got distracted by art asdzxcnc Primus [the-lord-of-light]Yesterday at 11:29 PM Nods in understanding. Shall scoop Smokescreen up then and take him back to where he belongs. Soundwave (corruptedcomms)Yesterday at 11:32 PM Well. With Primus gone, he's going to leave as well. Goodnight. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:33 PM Goodnight, alternate. One day he'll get to talk to you without Primus making trouble in the background. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:41 PM "... Are you sure you'll be ready next week?" Could they prepare for worst case scenarios by then? Was it possible to prepare for a worst case scenario with a spurned god? Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:42 PM [[...Well, he can at least try to listen. He would like to know what is so important that his alternate has to babysit a deity. Whether he responds or not is another matter.]] Maybe he can work the outcome of his listening into his overall determination about the situation? He's hoping, anyway. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:44 PM "Do you think he plans to talk? Or to demand answers?" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:45 PM [[He doesn't know. If he demands answers, then... that says something, he supposes.]] [[And if he is angry, then he imagines we'll have a chance to find out whether that grimoire of ours works on a god.]] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:46 PM "Yyyes, it does say something. It says that we could immediately be in a hell of a lot of trouble if we don't provide the answers he wants on his terms." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:47 PM [[True. Very true. But he does not know if it is wise to keep a potentially angry god waiting. Damned if we do, and damned if we don't.]] Well, he can buy them 24 hours, if nothing else. He does know that much. ... Though he'd rather not do that. Might lose the spark shard if he does that. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:49 PM "Which is why we should be prepared before then. As much as we CAN be prepared, at least." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:49 PM [[He doesn't suppose you could calculate and create a bridge large and safe enough to move Luna Three over in an emergency.]] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:50 PM "... I don't think aiming Luna three at your own planet is... a viable plan. But yes. I could." Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:51 PM [[So we bridge him into space first.]] That sounds like it should be a joke of sorts, but there's no humor in his mental voice there. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:52 PM "Can we? That's just his avatar, right? Like mine. Would hitting his avatar do anything?" Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:53 PM [[Disrupt him for a short period of time. Serve as a warning. Even a few minutes would help, at that point.]] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:54 PM Prowl's gonna reach over and take Soundwave's other hand. He hoped it wouldn't come to that. He felt like he didn't need to say that. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Yesterday at 11:57 PM He didn't need to say that, no. Soundwave understood. He will take the hand, and tug Prowl into his arms if allowed. A reverse of the first night this mess started. He'll make sure at least one of them will be okay, whatever happens. And the deployers. They're staying in Iacon while that talk happens. Just in case. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Yesterday at 11:58 PM It's absolutely allowed. Prowl slides into his embrace, and holds him tight. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 12:00 AM Good. This is safety. They can rest like this, as much as rest is possible at this stage. They already took down Unicron. What's another god, if it really does come down to that?
A nuzzle and an affection ping. Just to beat back at the tide of nervousness. Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 12:01 AM Ping, ping, ping. Soundwave (Slenderwave)Today at 12:04 AM Hmm, good. Important to know that's true even now. It wouldn't be, with a lot of other people.
He'll keep watch for now with the occasional pet. Maybe bring Ravage down to help stand guard.
[[Goodnight.]] Prowl (verdigrisprowl)Today at 12:04 AM A nuzzle, and a light kiss. "Good night."

The Best of 2018
This was a hard list to compile. It was made harder by the fact that I’ve gotten a new perspective on what “The Best Movies of the Year” should be. I’ll tell you ahead of time that Green Book isn't on my list. It isn’t that, in hindsight, I feel as though it’s another example of the white savior story, or that I’m upset about the real-life Shirley family informing us that what’s happening on-screen isn’t accurate to the truth. It’s a great film with solid performances, some of the year's biggest laughs and terrific characters. I WANTED to put it on my list but also wondered if it would be a picture that endures. In 5 years, 10 years, will we look back and say “I remember who I was before Green Book, and who I was after it. The picture changed something for me.” I’m not sure I will. This feeling of change and lasting power is what I kept in mind when listing...
10. Upgrade
The vigilante revenge film is an enduring genre. We saw two others in 2018, (Death Wish and Peppermint), 2019’s already had Cold Pursuit. Upgrade tries many new things. It’s got buddy-comedy elements and winds up being one of the funniest dark movies of recent memory. It’s action sequences are dynamic and creative, the camera work top-notch. The story’s many twists and turns show much intelligence beneath what seems like a simple story. It’s not quite a game-changer but does highlight the problem with bare-bones films such as Venom (which appeared on my “worst of” list). I’ve bought it on Blu-ray and can’t wait to show it to others. I think it’s favorite just waiting to be discovered.
9. Black Panther
Now this is one people are going to remember. Yes, it might’ve featured wobbly special effects in a couple of scenes and the climax is a little generic but wow does it have an identity. From the music to the costumes to the story, everything about it stands out. Many people had been waiting decades to see it. Black Panther is the Star Wars of this year, the film which blew up and changed EVERYTHING. Within are one of the year’s best villains and a spectacular soundtrack. It elevates the superhero genre once again.
8. Crazy Rich Asians
The romantic comedy genre is largely dead. I saw a couple of them in 2018 but these were obscure, back-alley titles only hardcore fans of the genre heard of - if they even went to see them. Comedies as a whole are trying to find their footing right now, largely due to the increasingly light tone of many of Marvel’s superhero films and the high-quality children’s animated features arriving to theatres on a semi-regular rate. People don’t accept couples falling in love within an hour and a half anymore but still want to see romance on-screen, as this film proves. While it might not have been as big as Black Panther, Crazy Rich Asians proves there are groups thirsting to see themselves represented in big-budget productions. Or maybe it was a success simply due to its great cast, lavish production, and laugh-out-loud moments. It’s the best date movie of 2018 by far, an unashamedly romantic 2-hour tale which features a wedding so beautiful it moved me to tears.
7. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
I'll bet money Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse wins this year’s Academy award for best animated film. Sony's take on the character has bold visuals which combine comic book art with graffiti-like graphics and a blend of 2-D and 3-D animation. It improves the material it’s based on significantly, brings us not just one but a half-dozen new, favourite characters and features an emotional story whose depth no one expected. This film uses tricks others have never even thought of and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
6. A Star is Born
Initially a shoe-in for the year’s best picture, many critics have now dismissed it because it doesn’t have a big message or isn’t politically tied to anything. So what? This directorial debut still brings forth powerful emotions and features some of the year’s best tunes. A Star is Born has single moments that once seen, cannot be forgotten. When Bradley Cooper’s Jackson Maine is at his lowest, he’s such a mess you simultaneously hate and pity him. Who would’ve thought Lady Gaga was going to be this good?
5. Mission: Impossible - Fallout
Probably the best instalment in the series - which is saying something - this is the definition of a satisfying blockbuster. It delivers the stunts, special effects, thrills, and action you crave by giving you one dazzling set piece after another. You won’t believe how this film could top itself, but it does over and over. And then, it does the unexpected and delivers great character moments as well. Many action franchses could learn from Fallout, its smart, twisty plot, expert direction and jaw-dropping stunts. It’s one of the greatest action films ever, right alongside Mad Max: Fury Road, how could it NOT be on my list?
4. The Favourite
With stellar performances from its entire cast, gorgeous and moody cinematography, lavish costumes and immersive camera work, it’s easy to get lost in Yorgos Lanthimos’ period-piece drama. Even the choice of fonts and placement of characters in the chapter cards is meticulous. It’s such a good movie to look at its demented tone takes you by surprise. Full of venom and scheming, you’re tense the whole way through, biting your nails hoping Emma Stone’s character will make it out alright, only for her dark side to come up and turn her into an even bigger monster than Rachel Weisz' Duchess of Marlborough. Meanwhile, everyone’s walking on eggshells, carefully trying to influence Queen Anne of Great Britain (Olivia Colman), a cross between a vindictive child and an incompetent ruler. It’s fascinating stuff.
3. Roma
Roma is one of the reasons it took me so long to make this list. I started watching it weeks ago and was immediately enraptured. Unfortunately, I got caught up with other business and didn’t get the chance to finish it, delaying this list once again. It’s a beautiful film both visually - I’m particularly fond of the black-and-white cinematography - and content-wise, with lasting, intimate emotional beats which put you right there in Cleo’s shoes. The instant you understand what the image on the poster means is just - wow.
2. They Shall Not Grow Old
A crowning achievement in documentary filmmaking, They Shall Not Grow Old brings history to life in ways I could’ve never envisioned. I was initially against colorizing black-and-white footage. Seeing the results - in 3D to boot - is breathtaking. The way it humanizes the people and the war is unforgettable. I think it's destined to be shown in classrooms, which might make it sound like homework, but no. This is a living, breathing documentary full of love and respect.
Runner-ups
There were a number of pictures I wish I could’ve put on the list, maybe at the #10 spot, which I reserve for films “just for me”.
A Fantastic Woman and Paddington 2 SHOULD’VE been on my list last year but weren’t for various reasons. Hopefully mentioning them now is penance enough for my mistake back then. The stylish and unique Sorry to Bother You and BlacKkKlansman deserved to be on this list too but I just couldn’t knock anything else off of it. Finally, I was immensely pleased with the new Halloween, A Simple Favour and Colette. They’re a bit more niche but if you think they’ll align with your tastes, I think are highly enjoyable. And now that we’ve stalled enough to get your anticipating peaked, let’s talk about my number 1 film…
1. The Rider
The Rider is too small to get the attention it deserves. It only played in one theater in my city, the smallest one with only a single screen. I knew it never had a shot at an Academy Awards but I don’t care about budgets or box office results. I care about how a movie makes me feel, how long it lasts and how powerful its message is. Blurring the lines between real-life and fiction, director Chloé Zhao uses untrained actors to tell a metaphor-rich story of masculinity. It’s an engrossing drama whose themes blend so well with its characters and story it seems almost effortless.

DAY 3663
Film City, fl 16, Mumbai Apr 4, 2018 Wed 3:12 PM
APOLOGIES APOLOGIES APOLOGIES APOLOGIES APOLOGIES !!!!
... and seeking them through folded hands and feet and fingers and heart ..
The late night shoot and studio act ; the early morning reportage for the next day ; the struggle with the shoulder pain ; and work , kept me away from the most important work .. nah .. not work , the ultimate joy of connecting with my Ef ..
The anxious calls and messages and the concern for the absence of the Blog has been addressed and in the middle of TOH shoot at this historic Film City at this historic Fl 16 , your truly has broken for lunch .. but the best lunch is to not devour morsels of much required food, but to make up lost ground of the disappearance of the Blog and do this first before any else ..
My penance ..
.. thats at the recording and setting up the song and its delicacies and drawing its production on the laptop, before actually getting in front of the mike ..
.. and head phones .. and the right mood to catch the notes and .. SING ..
at 76 that is a demand of incredibly difficult propositions .. but one labours, for the final outcome of giving or trying to give whatever it takes for quality and improvement ..
SO .. there ..
Film City historic , because this vast 350 acre area way past the now freshly developed suburbs of the City, was just a semi mountainous wild forest area. The Film City was developed years ago and it had its first shooting on floor FL 1, with the Mahurat of my film ‘Barsaat ke ek Raat’ .. later a Lab for processing was put up within the area, and the foundation stone was laid by yours truly ..
Now of course its a bubbling region with immense amounts of film shootings in progress as also TV ..
FL 16 .. historic because it was a brand new addition to the complex and the first shooting on this Floor was started with the film ‘BLACK’ , and the first shot of the film was done on me at this same floor .. the house set of the film was built on this floor ..
Tragedy struck in the middle of the shoot of BLACK .. after having done several days of work on it .. under very strange circumstances late at night the entire set caught fire ... and everything was destroyed .. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and all of us were simply devastated ..
BUT .. the same set was re constructed at Mehboob Studios and we finished the film shoot there .. Mehbood Studios named and built by the Legendary Mehbood Khan, director producer and iconic personality of the Industry .. his most famous work - ‘Mother India’ with Nargis, Sunil Dutt, Raaj Kumar, Rajendra Kumar .. historic .. each one a legend in their own right ..
OK .. the pretty young assistant lady has just walked in to my van and given me a ‘heads up’ on the time for me to be back on set .. 10 mins !!
‘ Heads Up’ is a language and a terminology that I cannot understand .. my head is always up .. so why come and give me those known instructions .. I mean the head hasn’t shifted below my knees .. not yet !
10 mins to grab lunch .. a scarce roll or two of bread .. and back to work .. nothing elaborate in cuisine can be entertained by me just yet .. the beard and the hair and the prosthetics, which take hours to put on, comes in the way !
Good the afternoon , then .. se ya later at night .. !!
And again APOLOGIES ..
Amitabh Bachchan

Day 16, 2018 - Willow
Willow – 1988 – Howard, Ron
(Saturday Special)
“Her name is not Sticks! She’s Elora Danan, the future empress of Tir Asleen and the last thing she’s gonna want is a hairy chest!” - Willow
I can’t know this for sure, but I feel very strongly that had I seen Willow when it came out, it would have changed the course of my life.
That doesn’t mean that the movie is great. It does mean that the movie is a hearty and filling stew of all of the other childhood fantasy stories you love:
An Evil Queen
A Quest
An Unlikely Hero
A Rogue with a Heart of Gold
A baby who was prophesized
I live for that shit, and Willow does that shit well. Here’s how they serve it up.
Willow (Warwick Davis) – part-time wizard, full-time farmer – is minding his own business when his kids find a baby in a basket floating down the river. Willow is nervous, but he shows the baby to the Nelwyn council.
They determine that the female child is the child of prophesy: her birth means the end of evil Queen Bavmorda. For the baby’s protection, a group of these Nelwyn villagers must go on a quest to take the baby to safety (i.e.: pass her off to the first full-sized human they see, aka: Daikini[i]).
The group is led by Willow.
They find a Daikini imprisoned by the side of the road. His name is Madmartigan (Val Kilmer) who claims to be the best swordsperson in the land. He also claims he wants to protect the baby. He’s giving us Han Solo, with some Errol Flynn, served with a healthy side of Toshiro Mifune.
With Madmartigan’s help, Willow finds a fairy who tells him that the baby’s name is Elora Danan and that he must seek out the sorceress Fin Raziel to complete his quest.
At the same time, Queen Bavmorda’s warrior daughter Sorsha (Joanne Whalley) is also hunting for Elora Danan.
In a totally unforeseen, yet 100% predictable way, Madmartigan gets a potion in his eyes that makes him fall head-over-dick for Sorsha. Sorsha feels the heat too, but is wary of his intentions.
In the midst of this all Queen Bavmorda gets a hold of Elora and must quickly perform a ritual sacrifice to maintain her hold on the land.
For Willow, it’s a race against time and to save little Elora and defeat the Queen.
So, this movie was fun. I liked it. And I would have been even more in love with Val Kilmer[ii] had I seen this during my ahem formative years.
This wasn’t the hit that George Lucas was hoping it would be. He wanted a fantasy franchise to go along with the Star Wars films. 1988 was just a tough year for it. It didn’t bomb; it just sort of did okay. Also this movie was directed by Ron Howard; it was his first movie after Cocoon.
I’m sort of sad it didn’t work out, because there were many more relevant female roles in this film than there were in anything else he was producing at the time. I sort of missed that as a girl. The female roles (other than Princess Leia) were always treated as replaceable[iii].
Willow is a fun film[iv] that I recommend.

NOTES:
[i] Gonna start hitting the gym. Gotta be ready for daikini season!
[ii] Joanne Whalley too, if I’m honest.
[iii] I’m still not over the shitty treatment of Marion Ravenwood in the Raiders of the Lost Ark franchise. #bitter

Lefties Find New Way to Attack Trump’s Star… Use Fake Russian Soldiers
Donald Trump’s Hollywood star has become the site of the largest metaphorical battle over the Trump presidency. The fixture on the Walk of Fame has been destroyed not once but twice. It’s been the site of plenty of protests and clashes. And now, it’s home to one of the corniest and least subtle political statements we’ve seen thus far during the Trump presidency. According to The Hill, a group of fake Russian soldiers are “standing guard” at the star in the days following its latest desecration, wearing ushankas and holding a Russian flag. Take a look: Two men dressed as Russian soldiers guarding Trump's Hollywood star. A fitting metaphor for how Russia continues to protect this President and his party with hacking and other efforts. pic.twitter.com/7NMqZIwIap — Adam Best (@adamcbest) July 28, 2018 Of course, it’s idiotic. But at least these idiots are doing it during a Southern California heat wave, so their long jackets at least function as a kind of hair shirt to make penance for the groan-worthy visual statement. However idiotic it looked though, some liberal Twitter users found it to be the height of political satire: Genius! Show him for what he is! — Nervena Jolt (@NervenaJolt) July 28, 2018 Austin Clay, who was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department after claiming responsibility for going at the star with a pickaxe, was released after bond was posted by James Otis, the Otis elevator fortune heir who perpetrated the first act. “I don’t know why he did it, but I assume it’s because of something Trump has done,” Otis said, according to Global News. “I’m not an advocate of violence, but doing something to draw focus to Trump’s actions, I’m not going to condemn that. I look forward to meeting (Clay) when he gets out.” After the latest attack, the star has become a flashpoint for protests yet again. A Washington Post account published Sunday records how a brawl broke out when an anti-Trump protester used racial slurs and intimidated pro-Trump demonstrators and a film crew present. At least the Russian guard stunt wasn’t a brawl, although it was every bit as stupid. Just like Stormy Daniels and James Comey, the left keeps on clinging to narratives that don’t particularly make sense in the vain hope President Trump will be removed from office. The joke, alas, is on them. Read the full article

How The Nevers Weathered COVID Delays and Joss Whedon’s Departure
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
For a show called The Nevers, HBO’s latest fantasy endeavor doesn’t say no to a lot.
The series, developed by erstwhile TV titan Joss Whedon, brings quite a few competing elements to the table. For starters, it’s set in a steampunk version of Victorian-era London. Ladies wear corsets, men wear bowlers, and everyone wears the same dour expression as they smell the rancid air around them.
Then, in addition to its steampunk leanings, The Nevers goes full on X-Men with its hook. Due to a mysterious event, a sizable percentage of London society (though predominantly women) have developed supernatural mutant-like abilities. Lead character Amalia True (Laura Donnelly) is precognitive, briefly experiencing certain events before they happen as a warning. Her closest friend Penance Adair (Ann Skelly) can sense the potential energy within objects, leading her to create fantastical inventions like an old-timey quartermistress.
Amalia, Penance, and many more of these superpowered individuals reside in Charles Xavier’s ma…we mean Lavinia Bidlow’s (Olivia Williams) Orphanage. Just like in Professor X’s world, Amalia, Penance, and their kind are viewed with suspicion and distrust. In fact, the uniquely abled of The Nevers’ world are referred to as “The Touched.”
The word “touched” is dripping with historical resonance. The term can indelicately refer to someone who is perceived as crazy. The Nevers leans so far into this interpretation of the word that it nearly falls over. Several of The Touched are carted off to Victorian era lunatic asylums, some before they even exhibit supernatural abilities like series antagonist Maladie (Amy Manson). Even those who are allowed to remain behind in polite society are viewed as untrustworthy and unserious, which surely sounds familiar to many a gaslit female viewer even today.
The Nevers is the latest in the long line of fantasy series that wears its themes on its frilly Victorian sleeve. The storytelling goals of the show are so apparent that one may wonder why any of the supernatural elements were necessary, when a far more literal interpretation of 19th Century Western society may have sufficed.
That’s where Amalia True actress Laura Donnelly (Outlander) comes in with an apt metaphor.
“They say that when something rhymes, it sounds more true to the human ear,” Donnelly says. “I think there’s a similar thing that goes on a lot of the time with fantasy. You can, in fact, explore fundamental human truths and it will feel even more true for that.”
The Nevers creator Joss Whedon has made a career of crafting fantasy projects that “rhyme.” Buffy the Vampire Slayer used its vampire slaying premise to examine what society expects and demands from young women. Firefly crafted a swashbuckling space opera to ask what freedom really means and whether it’s ever truly attainable. Whedon’s version of The Nevers was set to be a return to TV form for the showrunner after years spent shepherding blockbusters like Marvel’s Avengers, and the theatrical version of Justice League.
But of course, that return proved to be fairly short lived. Whedon stepped down as showrunner of the show he developed in November of last year, citing the physical demands of “making such a huge show during a global pandemic.” HBO’s statement on the matter was a terse “We have parted ways with Joss Whedon. We remain excited about the future of The Nevers and look forward to its premiere in the summer of 2021.”
An important bit of context here is that over the past several years, Whedon has been accused of inappropriate and abusive behavior on his sets. Justice League actor Ray Fisher reported that Whedon’s conduct during filming of that movie was “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.” That led to an investigation by WarnerMedia, which culminated in unspecified “remedial action.” In February, Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Charisma Carpenter similarly tweeted that Whedon abused his power on that set.
Though Whedon may be gone from The Nevers (and thoroughly scrubbed from the show’s marketing material), his original vision will remain intact for at least the first six episodes. In addition to the uncomfortable showrunner departure, The Nevers had to deal with a production schedule severely interrupted by COVID-19 that turned a 10-episode first season order into two blocks of six and four episodes. Episodes five and six of Whedon’s version of the show were filmed and wrapped under HBO’s new COVID guidelines.
“When we went back to film I think HBO was really ahead of the game,” Penance Adair actress Ann Skelly says. “They installed whole new air ventilation system in the studios. They built a set that was supposed to be in a Greenwich location in one of our studios. They made it work somehow.”
Amy Manson, who plays the villainess Maladie, notes the irony in a show about “The Touched” filming during an era in which human touch could be dangerous.
“We’re a tactile bunch,” she says. “But, I think we all felt safe. Everyone from your driver to the brilliant chefs, to producers, were all being tested three times a week. That made it easier for the cast to be able to be on set minus masks, do our jobs, and not feel unsafe.”
The Nevers certainly wasn’t the first series to emerge from a COVID production environment and it won’t be the last, but it might be the first major test case of how a big pay cable endeavor can adapt its process. It’s also a test case for how television can navigate a Joss Whedon property without Joss Whedon.
Tasked with tackling the scale that Whedon left behind now is British screenwriter Philippa Goslett, writer of How To Talk to Girls at Parties and 2018’s Mary Magdalene.
Donnelly, for one, believes that the fictional world already set in motion should be big enough to accommodate new imaginations.
“These first six episodes are only really scratching the surface,” Donnelly says. “Having spoken to Philippa, she’s given me a rough idea of the arc for the next six episodes as she sees them. The ideas that are coming through there and how much more that’s expanding the world of the characters further.”
The back half of The Nevers first season does not yet have a release date. When it returns, however, it will be coming from a British and female showrunner perspective that more closely matches the series’ central characters. In the meantime, The Nevers cast is confident that the show can make do with episode 6 as an unexpected midseason finale.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
“It couldn’t be more brilliant if it tried. It’s the perfect place to just have a mid season hiatus, for sure,” Manson says.
The Nevers premieres Sunday, April 11 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.

The 10th Annual L.A.O.K. Awards
Wow. Ten years of the Layokies. What a trip. I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to all five of my faithful fans for your readership over the years. In my first ever Layokies post, I named it the “1st (Possibly) Annual L.A.O.K. Awards.” I had no idea how long I’d be working at the Academy, let alone living in LA, but here we are. I bragged about seeing 180 movies that year. I just checked my Letterboxd stats for this year and it turns out I watched...180 movies. However, this year I hit a new personal best for new releases: 125. While this is about half as many as some people I know, some of the first Layokies were based on a field of 60 or 70 movies, so I’ve doubled up on my old self. Funny thing is, I can still look on other year-end lists and find many films I haven’t seen, and even some I haven’t heard of, so the field of films I’ve added are probably in the middle to bottom range of the pack. But someone out there has to watch Tolkien, Gemini Man, The Goldfinch, and Where’d You Go, Bernadette?, so it might as well be me.
In all honesty, my absolute favorite thing about living in Los Angeles and working at the Academy is access to watching movies and being around the general cinephile community, and even a bad couple of hours in a movie theater beats a lot else. Over Christmas break I saw Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in Shawnee, OK’s own Cinema Center 8.
It was quite a trip going back to this theater after so many years and to think of the love of film that was fostered there. Alas, the picture was pretty muddy, and I’m almost positive they showed it in 2k. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Now, in penance for naming The King’s Speech Best Picture in my first year (lol), I give you five real good’uns for 2019:
Best Film The Farewell The King Little Women Parasite Uncut Gems
Sometimes I touch on a year being good or bad for film in general. Not sure about the whole, but I’ll call 2019 a real SEC year (aka stacked at the top and mediocre to poor the rest of the way down). While I would probably only give one title on this list must-see status (Parasite), these are all definite should-sees. The Farewell made me laugh and cry and cringe. One might even go so far as to say it “gave me all the feels.” The King gave me actual siege warfare and period-accurate haircuts. Little Women hit me with that structure, and at first I was all “hol up,” but then I was all “OK I see you.” Little Women also made me cry because I cry in movies now. (A quick aside, because while I absolutely loved Little Women, it’s not really going to come up again. If you liked the movie and haven’t read the book, please do yourself a favor and make it the next one on your list. You can’t know how great this movie is unless you know how good Beth is. Beth kind of got lost in this one, and you need to know Beth.) Parasite blew me away through its normality (who, having seen The Host, Snowpiercer, and Okja could have guessed that it wasn’t about some actual alien parasite??). And Uncut Gems was exactly as perfect as I expected it to be. And the Layokie goes to... The King
Faithful readers will know that one of my absolute favorite genres is ‘discreet conversation behind castle walls,’ and The King absolutely nailed it. It has everything: leadership position foisted on a worthy but flawed character who doesn’t want it, conversations in tents about battle tactics, love built on almost nothing but mutual respect, and most of all, Robert Pattinson doing a funny accent (it’s just a French accent, but he makes it quite funny). I would have already watched this again five times on Netflix, but I’m hoping and praying for an Oscar nomination that will never ever in a million years come in hopes that I can see it again in the theater during nominations screenings.
The Next Five Six 1917 Honey Boy The Laundromat The Lighthouse Marriage Story Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Best Actor Timothée Chalamet - The King Adam Driver - Marriage Story Paul Walter Hauser - Richard Jewell Joaquin Phoenix - Joker Adam Sandler - Uncut Gems
Another super stacked category this year. You might even say they’re *puts on sunglasses*...Stacked Actors. (<-- This is a really good joke for anyone whose favorite band from 7th-8th grade was The Foo Fighters.) These are all kind of obvious, so I’ll take a second to comment on Paul Walter Hauser and the fact that I gave out a very specific award last year titled “Refuse to Watch - Any More Clint Eastwood Movies” after trying and failing to watch The 15:17 to Paris on a plane (one of the worst pieces of filmmaking I’ve ever witnessed). Then this year Richard Jewell was getting such good buzz, and it seemed like such a good cast, and it was such a low-risk watch (on my second screen at work while doing spreadsheets), that I decided to shamefully renege on my earlier pronouncement and give it a shot. And...it was great pretty good! What is the deeal with Clint Eastwood?? He’s made some of my least favorite movies of the decade (Gran Torino, Invictus, Hereafter was a particularly awful stretch, Sully was pointless, and even parts of American Sniper, which was otherwise tolerable, were absolute cringefests). Anywho, I was very impressed by Paul Walter Hauser’s understated but perfect performance, in which he gets one good chance to blow up and yell at people--which you know I love. I hope he gets nominated, because it would be a great Oscar clip. (My ultimate dream job would be to pick the acting Oscars clips and I would be very very good at it.)
And the Layokie goes to... The Sandman (love that everyone is calling him the Sandman again)
I touched on Adam Sandler “A” in the Best Supporting Actor section of my 2018 Layokies post regarding his performance in The Meyerowitz Stories, lamenting that he hadn’t taken more dramatic roles after Punch-Drunk Love and hoping that good writer/directors would keep casting him. One more wish granted by the Safdie brothers. Adam Sandler’s talent is undeniable. He is truly one of the Great Actors of his generation. I really hope this is a respected-actor-making turn for him, but the upcoming roles on his IMDd--Hubie Halloween and Hotel Transylvania 4--don’t give much hope for the immediate future.
Honorable Mentions Taron Egerton - Rocketman (but only for the phone booth scene) Shia LaBeouf - The Peanut Butter Falcon Noah Jupe - Honey Boy Robert Pattinson - The Lighthouse Jonathan Pryce - The Two Popes
Best Actress Ana de Armas - Knives Out Scarlett Johansson - Marriage Story Elisabeth Moss - Her Smell Florence Pugh - Midsommar Saoirse Ronan - Little Women
Found out last night from my resident celebrity expert Bridgette Smith that Florence Pugh is dating Zach Braff and it absolutely crushed me.
And the Layokie goes to... Elisabeth Moss - Her Smell
Her Smell was the last 2019 film I watched before writing this post, and I was really just looking for something to pass the time. I had been wanting to see it for a long time and noticed it was on HBO, so I pressed play and planned to work on this post while I watched. I couldn’t. I was riveted. The writing, score, and sound design are incredible, but it’s all tied together by Elisabeth Moss’s performance. She’s excellent at being revolting but still has all of those qualities that made her Peggy. You can’t not like her, even though you fairly hate her.
Honorable Mentions Awkwafina - The Farewell Cynthia Erivo - Harriet Lupita Nyong’o - Us (You know I love weird voices, you know I love actors doing weird voices and faces, but this was a bit much even for me. Reflective of Us on the whole, which I thought was interesting but really missed the mark.) Charlize Theron - Bombshell
Best Director Ari Aster - Midsommar Bong Joon Ho - Parasite David Michôd - The King Benny and Josh Safdie - Uncut Gems Céline Sciamma - Portrait of a Lady on Fire
And the Layokie goes to... Benny and Josh Safdie - Uncut Gems
Wired: New directors Tired: Old directors
Boy do I not understand the love for The Irishman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I’m not totally against boring movies if there’s a good reason for it (Midsommar was actually quite boring), but these were some of the least compelling films I watched all year. On the other hand, you have these young directors coming out of prestige horror, Ari Aster, Robert Eggers, and to a lesser extent David Robert Mitchell and Trey Edwards Shults, making some of the most dynamic films out there. Reminds me of Roger Ebert talking about early Scorsese in Life Itself (which I can’t find a clip of). Then you have Benny and Josh Safdie doing Scorsese better than Scorsese with literally breathtaking shots like the one below. How they construct such amazing edits out of such disparate takes as the one in the still above is a wonder. They’ll go from five extreme close-ups in a row to a jaw-dropping shot of the inside of a jewelry store zoomed in from across the street. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg on what makes them the best filmmakers working right now.
Honorable Mentions Noah Baumbach - Marriage Story Robert Eggers - The Lighthouse Claire Denis - High Life Greta Gerwig - Little Women Alejandro Landes - Monos Sam Mendes - 1917 Alex Ross Perry - Her Smell Joe Talbot - The Last Black Man in San Francisco Lulu Wang - The Farewell
Best Supporting Actress Laura Dern - Marriage Story Lena Headey - Fighting with My Family Lee Jung Eun - Parasite (The housekeeper) Meryl Streep - The Laundromat Shuzhen Zhao - The Farewell (Nai Nai)
And the Layokie goes to... Laura Dern - Marriage Story
Here’s one for the Laura Dern stan accounts: There’s no question that Noah Baumbach is a talented director of actors, but Laura Dern makes so much out of seemingly not a lot in this role. She truly embodies a wholly unique and three-dimensional character that could have extremely easily been one-note.
Honorable Mentions Lily-Rose Depp - The King Florence Pugh - Little Women Margot Robbie - Bombshell
Best Supporting Actor Timothée Chalamet - Little Women Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse Shia LaBeouf - Honey Boy Al Pacino - The Irishman Robert Pattinson - The King
And the Layokie goes to... Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
For being all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT7uR4wNMJs
Honorable Mentions Bill Hader - It Chapter Two Tim Heidecker - Us Sam Rockwell - Richard Jewell Song Kang Ho - Parasite (the dad) Lakeith Stanfield - Uncut Gems
Best Original Screenplay The Farewell - Lulu Wang Her Smell - Alex Ross Perry Marriage Story - Noah Baumbach Parasite - Bong Joon Ho Uncut Gems - Benny and Josh Safdie
And the Layokie goes to... Parasite - Bong Joon Ho
Another genre we don’t get nearly enough of: comedies of errors. A script like this is as sophisticated as any mystery, political thriller, or...some other sophisticated type of script, like uh, I don’t know, they usually just say Chinatown or Witness. I did think it lagged a bit in the third act, but everything that came before it was so tight. Twist after turn after twist, so funny, so shocking. This is such a rare prestige crowd-pleaser that it really does harken back to Hitchcock; if a wide audience can get over watching subtitles, this has to have one of the lowest barriers for entry of any foreign film in a long time. Here’s hoping for a Best Picture Oscar nomination and a wide release. Uncut Gems played at Shawnee’s other theater (titled simply Movies 6), so it’s not that far out of the realm of possibility. But I know people in LA, even that work at the Academy, who won’t watch subtitled films, so getting people to actually go see it is another question.
Honorable Mentions Peterloo - Mike Leigh
Best Adapted Screenplay Jojo Rabbit - Taika Waititi Joker - Todd Philips & Scott Silver The King - David Michôd The Laundromat - Scott Z. Burns The Two Popes - Anthony McCarten
And the Layokie goes to... The King - Joel Edgerton and David Michôd
It wouldn’t be the Layokies without me championing one film that no one else cares about. I just really really liked The King. Timothée Chalamet is so hot right now! How did this get so overlooked?? 😭
Best Documentary Apollo 11 Honeyland It’s a Hard Truth Ain’t It Maiden Mike Wallace is Here
And the Layokie goes to... Maiden
As I’m in the process of producing a documentary right now, it pains me a bit that my top two picks in this category are almost entirely archival. I thought Mike Wallace is Here was so well done, and the director did some amazing things playing with aspect ratio. But Maiden came into port first. What is wrong with people who don’t appreciate sports? This xkcd comic (who I usually appreciate) makes me so angry. Tell the women who worked their asses off for years to claw their way into this male-dominated space and literally made the world a better place that their efforts were no more than a weighted random number generator on which to build narratives! Clearly the narratives are there, but it rarely has as much to do with the result of the competition as it does the effort that it took individual human beings to get there. See also: Undefeated (currently streaming on Netflix).
Honorable Mentions Fyre They Shall Not Grow Old Satan & Adam
Best Foreign Language Film Duh Parasite
Biggest Missed Opportunity Pokemon: Detective Pikachu (How the first live action Pokemon movie should have happened)
Not Even Close to Enough Monsters Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Most Unbelievable Cosplay Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers
Absolutely Crushing the Sensitive Dad Roles Billy Crudup in After the Wedding and Where’d You Go, Bernadette?
Good in Everything Too obvious, but Florence Pugh - Fighting with My Family, Midsommar, Little Women Robert Pattinson - High Life, The Lighthouse, The King Adam Driver - The Dead Don’t Die, Marriage Story, The Report, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Destigmatizing Fatness Award Dolemite is My Name The Laundromat Skin Almost Hustlers but then not (Lizzo got what, 30 seconds of screentime??)
#WasteYourAudience’sTime2019 The Souvenir The Proposal
Didn’t Actually Deserve to be Driven into the Ground Dark Phoenix The Kitchen
Just Plain Liked It Triple Frontier
Most Forgettable Tie: Tolkien and High Life (not for me, but it took me a full 10 minutes to convince Becca that she watched this, and I had to describe the masturbation chamber aka fuck box in a lot of detail before she got it, and I’m still not totally convinced she remembers it)
The Something Award Motherless Brooklyn
The Nothing Award Judy
Worst Movies 1. Rambo: Last Blood 2. Between Two Ferns: The Movie 3. Abominable 4. The Lion King 5. Godzilla: King of the Monsters 6. Wine Country 7. Jumanji: The Next Level 8. Frozen II 9. The Goldfinch 10. Pet Semetary
Best Scenes
Avengers: Endgame - The hammer, the portals, all the nerdy/normie BS, what can I say call me a basic bitch but there were some genuine holy schmoly moments in this that made it a really fun movie to experience in the theater
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood - When Mr. Rogers uses the puppets on Lloyd
Captain Marvel - When she went full shit on ‘em
Climax - The opening dance sequence (the only thing that made this movie worth watching)
The Farewell - Too many to choose from, but I think my favorite moment in this movie was when they were taking photos of the fiances and another couple stumbled in on them, claiming they were lost. That couple leaves and we never see them again. These are the kinds of details that make movies come alive. Absolutely brilliant.
Gemini Man - The motorcycle chase (a rare scene actually made better by the high frame rate)
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum - The knife fight in the knife store
The King - The conversation between Hal and Catherine
Knock Down the House - When A.O.C. debated the incompetent proxy
The Last Black Man in San Francisco - Skateboarding into town
Little Women - The “break-up” scene between Jo and Laurie (not a spoiler)
Midsommar - The drug trip scene (not that I’ve ever done drugs but this was the most accurate drug trip scene of all time) and the Ättestupa ceremony. Also found out in the video linked above that Ari Aster pronounces it Mid-SO-mar?? I thought that was the dumb way to pronounce it but apparently I’m the dumb one. Also also, another amazing detail worth mentioning: I absolutely loved that every time they were in their community sleeping barn, there was a baby crying somewhere on the second floor that we never see. Such a perfect way to put the characters and the audience on edge and indicate that there’s something wrong here.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - While I didn’t care for this movie, the scene where Brad Pitt went to the movie ranch and when he fantasized about going to the film set were absolutely dripping with tension, which made them as just as riveting as the rest of the movie wasn’t
Parasite - When the other family comes home early
The Peanut Butter Falcon - The scene after they come out of the corn field and share one of their first genuine moments
Uncut Gems - *Sarah Palin voice* All of ‘em, any of ‘em. But seriously the finale with the Celtics game
Us - The initial home invasion and the visit to the Tylers’ home (Tim Heidecker and Elisabeth Moss)
The A.V. Club also does a best scenes list at the end of the year, and I love writing mine first and then seeing what they came up with. I’m always surprised at how many we match on. Just goes to show that a good scene is universal. I also enjoyed some of theirs that I overlooked here, including from Her Smell, Bombshell, Ad Astra (I almost included the moon chase myself and thought the baboon scene was equally compelling), and Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
Stupidest Scenes Every other John Wick 3 scene
Deserves Discussion The Dead Don’t Die
This movie was a lot of fun. But then it also completely sucked? Not really a Jim Jarmusch fan in the first place, but this had so many awesome elements to it: a great cast, great soundtrack, really fun and unexpected ways of breaking the 4th wall, but then it was also pointless and boring. I would love for someone to tell me why this is a good movie after all, but judging by its complete absence from the end-of-the-year discussion (or any discussion), I’m guessing no one cares enough to mount that challenge.
Best Visuals Alita: Battle Angel Aquarella A Hidden Life Honeyland Midsommar Monos
Many LOLs It Chapter Two Jojo Rabbit Parasite
Best Song Ready or Not - The Hide and Seek Song (why was this not submitted?)
youtube
Best Soundtrack Waves - Never have I already known so many songs on a film’s soundtrack; it’s almost as if Trey Edwards Shults is another white guy around my age with the same interests as me...
Worst Accents Midway
Started But Never Finished Cats Cold Case Hammarskjold Genndy Tartakovsky’s ‘Primal’ - Tales of Savagery The Highway Men High Flying Bird Queen and Slim Spies in Disguise
Didn’t See Ash is Purest White Atlantics The Beach Bum The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open (still really want to see this one) Clemency Diane Invisible Life Luce Shadow Synonyms Transit Woman at War
Absent on Purpose Pain & Glory Ford v Ferrari I think these are the only two contenders that I’ve seen and haven’t mentioned. I actually liked both of these movies quite a bit. Just didn’t stand out for me in any one category I suppose. But then also: Booksmart Brittany Runs a Marathon Just Mercy The Mustang
Hah!

Molly’s Game (2017)
Molly’s Game is an impressive directorial debut by Aaron Sorkin. We’ve seen a number films about the downfall of greedy people but this one offers something new. Don’t be too surprised if you hear about this one come Award time.
Based on the true story, Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain) happened upon the world of exclusive high-stakes poker games and decided she wanted in. By luring Hollywood celebrities, athletes, movie directors and millionaires to her games she made a fortune without playing a single hand of cards. When she is arrested, only lawyer Charlie Jaffey (Idris Elba) can save her from prison.
The difference between Molly Bloom and the likes of Jordan Belfort or David Walsh (the inspiration for Matthew McConaughey’s character in Gold) is that she knows better. Considering what she accomplished, she's admirable. She isn’t a cartoon and doesn't become intoxicated by greed. She’s an opportunist, an entrepreneur, and a businesswoman that takes precautions to stay clean and true to herself. In fact, she may have too much integrity for her own good.
Jessica Chastain has proven herself many times to be a great actress and she does so again. With her delivery and her emotions, but also with her look. It’s telling that she's repeatedly asked if she or the women she employed exchanged sex for favors or that she’s told numerous times by someone that she’s the love of their life. It takes guts to be a woman in the world of high rollers.
With a great script with punchy dialogue, it’s the kind of story that makes you hungry. Molly will mention something from her past and you perk up. You hope the film will show you what happened… but that would mean leaving behind Idris Elba! He could’ve been just someone for Molly to talk to, but he’s got dimension and, as usual, a lot of charm. The one that surprised me most is Michael Cera as “Player X”, an amalgam of the big shot actors who played in the infamous Viper Room basement. He so easily portrays a victory-hungry cold-hearted creep in sheep's clothing that I was blown away. Until I looked deeper into the story I assumed he was actually playing himself as a form of penance but then, of course, I realized how ridiculous that would’ve been.
Molly’s Game had me hooked right away. If there’s a flaw, it’s that the film begins to lose steam towards the end. The conclusion is satisfying and overall it’s well worth watching but despite Molly’s life growing further out of control, it can start feeling a tad long. Not much, just a bit. Molly's Game could've been just another one of these true stories about how money inevitably causes your downfall but it has a lot of freshness to offer. (Theatrical version on the big screen, January 6, 2018)
