“You’re taking me so well,” he cooed as you slowly eased yourself along his length. The pleasure was more than enough to send you reeling as you grinded down on top of his lap.
“I always do,” you hummed, setting a slow pace as you savored the feeling of him filling you up. “Don’t I, Fíli?”
He looked at you with half-lidded eyes as he watched you take all of him, smiling when you wrapped one of your hands in his hair to anchor yourself. “Fuck, ghivashel…”
His eyes rolled back for a moment from the feeling of your cunt sucking him in, a mixture of your arousal and his pre-cum already making a mess where you two were connected.
With a playful smirk, you positioned his head to face you dead on. “Come on, now. Don’t grow quiet now, love. Tell me how good I’m making you feel, hm?”
He pulled you close, chuckling as he planted kisses along your neck. “You always look so gorgeous when you’re like this.” His hands found purchase on your sides, massaging circles along your hips as he watched you take him so deliciously.
Your pace quickened at the praise, deciding to reward him for his good behavior. “And?”
His breathing was becoming slightly uneven now and it was taking all of his willpower to not turn the tides and pound you into the mattress. Gods, the things you did to him were enough to drive him crazy.
“A-and,” he paused, a moan ripping out of him as you slammed your hips against his. “That’s it, right there. Please, don’t stop now. You’re perfect.”
His kisses were becoming more sloppy against your skin as he teased one of your nipples with his tongue, eliciting a moan out of you as you leaned into his touch. You tightened your grip on his hair and smiled at the way he melted into the palm of your hand. Just the sight of him desperately trying to keep it together was enough to make you even wetter as you continued bouncing on his cock.
“Ahh, please,” he whined, bucking his hips up into you, reaching deeper inside you as you buried your head in the crook of his neck, your moans and heavy breathing only warming his ears. “Y/N, it’s like you were made for me, for this… Nobody else can fuck me the way you do.”
A sharp cry came from you as a padded thumb found your clit, rubbing gently in tandem with his thrusts and your grinding. “Fuck, Fíli, you’re doing so good. Keep talking, please.”
Between his whining voice and the sheer pleasure of you riding him, you could tell you were getting close.
And between your dominating attitude and the way your pussy was drowning his cock, he was also very close to the brink.
But that dominating attitude was quickly whittling away with every thrust of your lover as he bullied his cock deeper inside you, going faster and harder as he sent you bouncing on his cock. Your hands moved to steady themselves on his shoulders, digging your nails and leaving red marks on his war-scarred skin just to anchor yourself as best as possible.
“You’re driving me wild, Y/N–” He was barely keeping himself coherent now as his thrusts sent you bouncing on his cock with such intensity that you were starting to go dumb. “Fuck, I’m getting close now.”
“Fíli, don’t stop,” you pleaded, biting into his shoulder now to keep yourself from melting into his violent pacing. “Come on now, we can hang in there a little longer, hm?”
He let out a guttural moan at your words, knowing it would be more fun if he complied.
“Anything for you, ghivashel,” he whined in between thrusts, trying his best to hold out. “Gods, you’re so warm, so tight. You’re so fucking perfect. I could fuck you like this forever–”
More babbling spewed from your lover’s lips as he lost himself in the overwhelming pleasure of your pussy pulsing around his length as you came.
Your grip on his shoulders tightened as his name was all you could scream, his thrusts slowing down enough for you to ride your high before quickly speeding back up so he could chase his own. Tears brewed in your eyes as the overstimulation was starting to hit you, feeling so sensitive that pain and pleasure seemed one and the same now. You bit his shoulder harder this time, knowing it would certainly leave a mark in the morning, and the next few thrusts led to him painting your walls white.
A mixture of him and you was beginning to leak out from where you were connected as the two of you could only swallow each other’s moans in the sloppiest kiss imaginable. His hands rubbing soothing circles into your back now as your own moved to massage his now tender shoulders.
“Shall we keep going?” You grinned, feeling him begin to grow hard again as you moved yourself against him.
“Give me just a moment to recover,” he breathed. “But absolutely.”

You were having one of those days that made you want to run away from everything. Instead, you walked on the golf course behind your house after hours; no phone, no umbrella, no bag this time, just you. You had what you could fit from your hands in your jean pockets as you walked the grassy field. Something twinkled and caught your eye on the far side of the fairway, there was a sparkle in the ferns. You walked over and began looking through the underbrush. Your hand grazed a smooth stick with a mangled end that encased a gem. You picked it up hoping for a better look but were transported to another world instead!
You appeared in the new world holding the staff. You were standing beside an older fellow with a pointy hat and long grey beard. You looked around and saw many other gruff, burly-looking men sitting in an encampment. They looked as confused as you. You did the only thing you could think of doing at that moment.
You turned around and took off running as fast as you could.
The wizard whose staff you were running away with asked the younger dwarves in his company to fetch you for him. They ran after you as quick as the wind. You dodged trees and hurdled bushes, making an all-around great effort. You were slowing down though. You stopped for a moment to catch your breath and plan. A twig snapped in the distance; quick footsteps closed in on you. You took off again. You needed a place to hide, a moment to think for God's sake. You were afforded no such luxuries. They were gaining, you were tiring. In your drained haste, you tripped on a bush which sent you stumbling and struggling to regain your footing given your momentum. You finally fell and scampered to take cover behind the roots of a great tree. Their footfalls grew slower and drew nearer. They were so close you could hear their words now.
“…She’s hiding, Fili,” one said much closer than you expected them to be.
You tried your best to steady your breathing. Your heartbeat was so loud you knew they could hear it.
“Stop scaring her Kili,” The other chastised. “You know she’s got to be scared half to death”. He walked past you, studying the ground. The other came up the other side of the tree doing the same.
You gripped the staff preparing yourself to be found. They turned in unison following the same tracks and looked up at you simultaneously. They were both panting but not as hard as you. Fili, the elder and more experienced of the two knelt where he stood a few yards from your curled trembling form.
“My name is Fili” He put his hand on his chest and motioned to the man next to him, “This is my brother Kili. We mean no harm to you.” He kept his distance and showed his empty hands. You stayed firmly pressed against the tree trunk, your chest heaving rapidly and your eyes as large as saucers. They could have tackled you, beaten you, or done any number of terrible violating things, but they kept their distance and spoke softly.
“What’s your name?” Kili asked, with a charming smile as he crouched beside his brother.
“Y/N,” you said in a shaky freaked-out tone.
“Y/N, that’s our friend wizard’s staff,” Fili said, “If anyone can figure out how you got here, he can.”
“But you gotta come back to camp with us,” Kili said reaching out his hand as a peace offering. So many horrible things could happen to you in the wild of this new world, but even more on top of that could if you didn’t go with them.
“How can I trust you?” You asked them. They looked at each other.
“How can we trust you?” Kili threw back at you with a suspicious look and recoiled his hand.
“Touche” you nodded returning his look.
“Seems we are at an impasse then,” Fili huffed at his brother, “You want to get home, and our wizard can do that. The only way that can happen is if you come with us back to our camp. We can only offer you our word and promise on our honor as dwarven princes that you will not be harmed by any in our company.”
You thought for a moment and nibbled at your lip, “You promise?” you looked up at Kili this time.
Kili looked you deep in the eyes, and very seriously said: “No harm will ever come to you, on my honor as a prince.”
You nodded at this, “Very well”, and tried to stand up but were stuck against the tree. The 2 men easily lifted you back to your feet. You followed them back to the camp.
You tried your best to hide behind Kili as you approached the wizard smoking a pipe. You peeked from around his shoulder at the other men in the camp. They were looking at you.
“Please sit, my dear,” The wizard said to you, motioning to the rest of the long log beside him “We have much to discuss.”
Your legs wouldn’t move you from behind the dwarf. You were still quite afraid.
“She seems to have taken a liking to you Kili,” the wizard said to him. The rest of the company let out a soft chuckle of agreement. You couldn’t see it from your angle, but Kili smiled and nodded.
“Sit down child, we aren’t going to hurt you,” One of the dwarves sitting across the fire said. You took a deep breath to gather your courage. One false move by any of the others would have you bolting again.
You moved from behind Kili and sat beside the wizard still clutching the staff.
“May I take that from you?” the wizard politely asked. You handed it to him. He explained how this type of thing had happened to a couple of his wizard friends before, but he didn’t know the remedy or spell to undo it or how to prevent it from happening again. You sat quietly listening and nodding. He explained to you and the rest of the company that he was leaving to travel to his friend and inquire about your predicament. In the meantime, he convinced the company and its leader, Thorin you came to know, to keep you in the company as an innocent bystander to help around the camp and whatnot till Gandalf (the wizard) could figure out what to do with you. Gandalf gave you a small sack of coins, instructing you to get a bag, a bedroll, clothes, and any other necessities you’ll need at the next town.
As the fire died down so did the company. They got out their bedrolls and sleeping gear like a synchronized unit and as quickly as they started, they were all asleep snoring softly. Kili had first watch and was sitting on the ground next to you leaning against the log you were on. You slid onto the ground next to him curled with your knees to your chest. He looked over at you. You looked over at him.
“I don’t know what to do now,” you said not hiding the waver in your voice very well, “I’m so scared.” You couldn’t hold back the tears anymore. You cried into your hands as quietly as possible, so you didn’t disturb and anger the others. If you had looked at Kili, you would have seen him in a slight panic and at a loss for what to do, he didn’t know how to console crying women. You sobbed into your hands knowing you just needed to let it all out then you’d be fine. Kili looked at the fire and put his hand on your back. Physical contact of any kind back home was next to nonexistent, it felt nice to know he was trying his best to comfort you. After a few minutes of uncontrollable sobbing and hiccups wracking through you, you began calming down. When you were able to breathe properly, you wiped your face even though tears kept falling. You sniffled and rested your chin on your knees letting the tears fall silently now.
“Do you feel better?” Kili guessed in a soft tone and rubbed his hand on your back.
You nodded at him, “Yes” You took a deep breath and wiped the tears from your eyes as best you could, “Thank you” You looked at him and smiled a little. He smiled and nodded too, still concerned but returned his hand to his lap. You sniffled and looked at the fire.
“Really though I don’t know what I’m doing,” you said. “I’ve never been camping before,” you paused to think. “I don’t know how to fight or use a sword or make a fire or hunt or-or—” You were working yourself up and starting to cry again. Kili cut you off before you could start sobbing hysterically again.
“WOAH! Woah!!” alarmed, he put his hand on your back again, “It’s ok. Calm down.” he said harshly, “Take a deep breath, that seemed to help last time,” He mumbled the last part under his breath. That made you smile despite yourself.
“You don’t know how to console someone, do you?” You took a deep breath and wiped your eyes. He shook his head and took his hand from you. “Seems we’re both out of our depth then,” you said making the mood a bit lighter.
“In my defense, I was raised in a pack of manly men,” He smiled fondly “It’s a wonder my mother got through to me at all.”
“So, you do have a mother,” you said, making him look at you quizzically “I assumed you were raised by wolves,” You shrugged. He laughed and you couldn’t help but smile.
“You’re not completely wrong about that,” He smiled, looking over at the men across the fire. There was a momentary silence. “We’ll teach you those things, how to fight, how to make a fire, all that,” He looked over at you, “I mean who knows how long Gandalf will be, and you’d have to be pretty stupid not to pick up a thing or two even from this bunch.” You smiled and nodded; this calmed your nerves a little. A moment of silence fell between you again.
“Is it ok if I stay up with you?” you innocently asked, “I’m not very tired.”
“Sure,” he said casually, “May I ask about your life back in your world?”
“OK,” You nodded.
“What do you do?” he asked, you gave him a weird look. “Like for a living, how do you make money, how do you spend your days?”
“I’m a student at university at the moment.” He looked at you confused this time. “I spend my days studying at a desk, it’s boring and dull” You quickly summed up.
“Ooohh,” He said, “No wonder you couldn’t run for shit,” He laughed.
You scoffed, “So rude,” You huffed, failing to hide your smile. He was glad you were cheering up a bit.
“If it’s so boring and dull, why don’t you do something else?” He asked, naive to your world and its ways.
“It’s…complicated” you sighed “I have to study to do what I want to do for work even though I don’t want to work or study or do any of that, but I have to make money somehow because I need money to do stuff and buy things because the world I live in is shitty that way and it’s so frustrating sometimes,” you gritted your teeth to make your point.
“Well, what do you want to do then?” he asked, trying to understand your strange world.
“Sit on the beach,” You said without hesitation “…Listen to the waves…sleep on a blanket in the sun,” you sighed wistfully. “Die happy and rich.”
“That does sound nice” He agreed “I’ve never seen a tropical ocean before, the seas near the Blue Mountains are all frozen over.”
“Surely there’s a beach somewhere in this world,” You refused to believe the universe sent you to a world without a beach.
“There is! I’ve heard stories of Southern Gondor, where the sun makes the sand hotter than forges, and the water falls over the horizon in every direction.”
“That sounds like the beaches from back home,” You felt a little bad for him. You’d been practically raised at the beach because it was the only free thing to do in your hometown.
“May I ask a question?” you asked this time.
“Of course,” He shifted to lean against the log and face you.
“What are you guys doing?” you gestured to the camp around you.
“We are on a quest!” He said proudly, “A quest to take back our ancestral home from the dread dragon Smaug,” he said in a sinister voice. He explained about Erebor and the dragon and Thorin to catch you up. You listened, nodded, and took it all in, asking questions and giggling at his jokes. He was a decent storyteller.
“And I’m just along for the ride I guess,” you said deflated about your role in all this.
“If it’s any consolation, you’re quite good company,” He indulged; Kili always got so lonely on watch.
“Yay!” you said over a yawn, “I’d hate to bore any of you,” you replied, genuinely fearing your stories may never measure up to theirs. You leaned over and laid on the soft grass, curled in a ball with your arm as a pillow. You tried not to shiver from the cool evening breeze. You heard some shuffling of fabric, and then a blanket fluttered on top of you. You looked at Kili who smiled and said: “I’m quite the furnace at night, I’ll be fine without it,” he reassured.
“Thank you,” you said over another yawn. You didn’t expect to fall asleep but the next thing you knew it was early morning and you were awoken by the clanging of pots and spoons. You sat up and looked around to get your bearings.
‘Still in the same strange world’ you thought not fully awake. Kili appeared, greeted you good morning, and handed you a bowl of white goo he called porridge. You thanked him and ate your breakfast in silence like the rest of the company. While the men packed up the camp you were tasked with washing the dishes in a nearby stream. You were struck by the beauty of the incredible woods around you even in the dim morning light. You returned to camp and put the dishes in their bag, which was taken by one of your new companions. You felt out of place without a task among everyone who knew what to do. Balin saw you standing in the middle of the camp looking lost. He asked Thorin what they were to do about their lack of an extra pony for you. They decided you could ride with Kili seeing as he was the lightest (next to Bilbo) and his pony could take the weight and because you seemed the most comfortable with him. The old dwarf with a white-grey beard curled up at the ends approached you with as much of a nonthreatening air as he could muster.
“Good morning, my dear!” He greeted you with a chipper smile. “My name is Balin”
“Good morning,” you replied. “I don't quite know what I’m to be doing,” you said sheepishly.
“That’s ok lass, it’ll come with time,” he reassured, “For now, you’ll ride with Kili so you can see if he needs help getting ready.”
“Ok,” You nodded and started walking in Kili’s direction. You stopped in front of his pony and petted its nose and down its neck. “I’ve been told that I’m to ride with you,” you said timidly looking at him adjust his saddle. Kili looked at you and nodded.
“I’ll be happy to have a lovely conversation again” He smiled and looked back at his saddle, making the final arrangements.
He turned to you and said, “I’ll give you a leg up,” And jabbed a thumb at his pony. You nodded and approached the animal. You put your hands on the ponies back and bent your leg waiting for him to help. He leaned forward so he could whisper in your ear: “Wrong leg”. You blushed quite profusely at that and switched legs. He heaved you with such strength he nearly threw you over the other side of the pony. You made yourself comfortable behind the saddle before he hooked his foot in the stirrup and carefully mounted so he didn’t knock you off.
“You ok?” he asked over his shoulder.
“Yep!” you smiled. He nodded. You were excited to see new lands even though you feared what they harbored.
“If you need to hold on to me when we get going you can,” he said, making you both blush despite yourselves.
A few moments later Thorin called out: “Company ready?” in a deep booming voice, “Aye!” They all replied in unison. “Company, move out!” He bellowed and urged his pony forward. The rest followed behind him one by one. When your animal lurched forward you grabbed Kili's waist for dear life. The company was silent till they got to the end of the forest. You had your cheek pressed against Kili’s shoulder and your chest against his back. The fur of his coat was very soft against your face as you turned your head to look over his other shoulder. You yawned but didn’t realize you did it right next to his ear and breathed down his neck. He determinedly kept his eyes on the pony ahead of him to keep the blush rising in his chest at bay.
“You can take a nap if you need to,” he said over his shoulder in a soft voice for only you to hear.
“That sounds like a good idea,” You yawned again. You buried your face in the soft spare fabric of the hood on his back and cuddled closer to him to rest your head on his shoulder. You closed your eyes and sleep swiftly took you. He knew this because he could feel your breathing slow on the back of his neck. He was happy you could sleep and couldn’t help his smile. You shifted now and then, turning your head one way then a while later turning it the other. Kili tried not to talk or move too much in fear of waking your delicate slumber. By midday, you felt very well rested. You took a deep breath and released your grasp on Kili to stretch your arms above your head, arching your back to wake yourself up. You quickly slipped your arms around him again, so you didn’t fall.
“Good morning!” He chirped, “Well afternoon really,” he corrected with a smile, “Sleep well?”
“Mhm,” You hummed against his shoulder “I haven’t slept that well in a long time,” you said thinking back on the restless weeks before your arrival in Middle Earth.
“Good,” He nodded. “Happy I could be of service.”
“Yes, you make quite the comfortable bed,” you replied.
An easy silence settled between you for a while. You contentedly watched the landscape pass by while he kept the pony on the path.
“What’s a good weapon for a beginner?” You asked knowing you needed to start wrapping your head around the fact that you could be stuck here forever and needed to protect yourself. He thought about that for a few moments.
“I’d have to say a bow,” He shrugged, “I don’t know honestly, lemme ask Fili,” he kicked up his pony to walk faster to be next to his brother. “What is the best weapon for a beginner?” He asked him. Fili glanced at you and thought for a moment.
“Hmm I think a sword would be easiest,” He replied, contradicting his brother.
“A sword?!” Kili said incredulously “No that’s one of the harder ones,” He swatted his hand as if to swipe the words from the air.
Fili scoffed “For you maybe,” he said barely keeping his teasing smile under control “But not to the rest of us, my weapon-challenged brother.” That made you giggle. Kili huffed and pulled his horse back, so he wasn’t beside his brother anymore.
“Are you that bad with a sword?” you asked, trying not to laugh too much.
“No!” he exclaimed, “I’m just better with a bow and arrows,” he pouted.
‘Awe he’s so cute when he pouts’ Your thought took you by surprise.
“Perhaps you can teach me, Archer,” Your voice was lower than you intended, making you both blush. Your breath ghosted over his ear making him shiver just a little. He turned his head to look at you over his shoulder, his face so close to yours. He looked at your lips then deep into your eyes holding eye contact.
“Maybe I will,” he said in a deep gruff whisper that made you gasp and goosebumps rush over your skin. He turned back and smiled; proud he could get a rise out of you. You huffed and distanced yourself from him by leaning back, needing the space to calm down.
As night drew closer, Thorin led the company to the edge of a forest and found a shallow cave, more like a cliff overhang to make camp for the night. He told Fili and Kili to take care of the ponies and Oin and Gloin to make the fire. After the meals had been handed out Thorin told you to take Fili and Kili a bowl. You walked through the forest and found them looking at a downed tree in panicked awe.
“Something took 4 of the ponies,” Fili said to you, hoping you’d have the answer to their predicament.
“Yes, and…” you nodded at them trying not to panic yourself “What are you going to do about it since it’s your problem?”
The brothers decided to see what took the ponies and if they could handle it themselves, no need to worry Thorin, right? You followed them as they tracked the pony-nappers. Kili hid behind a tree and peeked around, you hid behind him and peeked over his shoulder. 3 large trolls were something to worry about, and a sight that made that dreadful feeling drop from your chest into your stomach. Your grip on Kili’s coat tightened.
He turned to you and said in barely a whisper, “Go back to camp and tell Thorin”.
Fili was immediately against it, huffing and puffing from behind his tree. Kili shrugged and motioned with hands as if to say, ‘What else would you have us do?!’ Fili huffed again and snuck around the tree. He tried to cut the rope fence with his sword, but he took too long. The trolls caught him. They were deciding ways to eat him when Kili looked at you in alarm and told you to go back to camp. You ran as fast as you could.
“Ponies! Big grey troll things took the ponies!” You said out of breath pointing the way you just came “Fili…in…danger”. Thorin cursed in dwarfish and rallied the company. Balin told you to keep your distance, so you didn’t get caught in the fight.
The dwarves fought bravely but were captured. Bilbo bid for more time while you thought of a plan. You heard the trolls complain about daylight coming and that gave you an idea. You saw the trolls had made camp in the shade cast by a large boulder. You wedged a branch under the rock and used the leverage to try to roll it. It was very heavy, and you were not. It took everything in your power to push the branch to roll the boulder down the ditch edge it rested on. The trolls were washed in sunlight, turning them to stone and freeing the company. They cheered when you stepped over the branch and into the clearing. You helped them from their confines and smiled and blushed when they praised your good job.
Back at camp the company gathered their things and discussed what to do now. Fili suddenly hushed the company.
“Warg howls in the distance,” He whispered to Thorin “They are coming!”
“RUN!” Thorin yelled at the company. Following Thorin everyone started running. You all ran as fast as you could onto a hilly plane sprinkled with trees and boulders. You ran and ran till the Wargs finally caught up. They began to encircle you. The company fought the beasts, taking them down as still more came at them. You went to hide behind the rock formation but fell into it instead. You climbed out as the Wargs were closing in.
“Down here!” you called “There’s a passage this way!” you slid down to make room for the others. Thorin was the last one, as he slid down a horn was blown near the entrance to the passage.
“I can’t see where it leads, do we follow?” One of the dwarves asked.
“Yes! We follow!” Thorin barged through the dwarves and led the company through the narrow pass. You all walked for a few minutes, but then Thorin rounded a corner and slowed as he realized where he’d unwittingly led the company. The rest kept walking around him, but Bilbo stopped and said in admiration: “Rivendell”. You stopped as well to take in the view before you. It was the most beautiful thing you had ever seen. A small town on the side of a mountain with water flowing from beneath some of the glittering structures.
As Thorin led the company over a bridge, you grabbed Kili’s arm to steady yourself as you looked around and took in the ornate statues and architecture of the front steps of a large building. A man much taller than you or the dwarves approached the group.
“We would like to speak to Lord Elrond,” Thorin said through gritted teeth. He was swallowing his pride for the betterment of the quest, that much was clear through his clenched fists and tense shoulders.
“Lord Elrond isn’t here,” The elf said regretfully.
“Then where is he?” Thorin’s patience was growing thin. A horn was sounded on the other side of the bridge you’d just crossed. Everyone turned to see a group of horses galloping towards them. The dwarves began shouting in dwarfish and closing ranks with their weapons ready for battle. You were pushed into the very center of the circle as tall horses and riders circled you. They stopped suddenly and the one on a black horse dismounted.
“My Lord Elrond,” The elf who first approached you said with a bow.
“Lindir” Elrond bowed his head at him then turned to the leader of your group, “Welcome Thorin son of Thrain,” He looked over the dwarf “You have your grandfather's bearings.”
“I’m afraid I know you only from the stories my grandfather told me,” Thorin was doing his best to be polite. (You were later informed that the stories were mostly about him being a ninny.)
“I’d like to offer you and your company a taste of our elfish hospitality,” Elrond said with a warm smile.
“Does that mean we’ll eat?!” Bombur called from the back. The company chuckled at him.
“Yes Bombur, that means we’ll eat” Dori replied. The company cheered at the prospect of a full belly and a warm hearth.
Not long after, you were sat next to Bilbo and Kili at a large table. The salad appetizers were very good despite the dwarves not liking green food very much. You giggled at their jokes about how bad the music was or how they wanted chips and meat. Thorin was sat at another table across from Elrond discussing something you couldn’t hear, but you could tell it pained Thorin to be in the other man's presence.
You turned to Kili beside you. “Thorin looks constipated,” you said in a low voice barely containing your laughter “He can’t even pretend to be enjoying this”. Kili looked over at his uncle and laughed with you.
When the meals were served there was boisterous laughter and general dwarfish shenanigans, the usual at any merry dwarfish gathering. Bilbo looked like he was having PTSD from when they were doing the same at his house at the beginning of the quest. At the end of the meal, Thorin and Balin disappeared with Elrond to discuss a map. You asked Kili if he would escort you to the markets with as much innocent girlish need as you could muster to solidify your security. He agreed and walked with you through the corridors and to the market. He helped you get a fair price on a bag, a blanket, and a bedroll. The next thing you needed was clothes to blend in.
“What do the women around here wear exactly?” You asked him. He shrugged.
“It depends, I guess” He had his hands shoved in his pockets as he followed you around the clothing stalls like a puppy.
“Gee, that’s a big help.” You teased.
After some more wandering you found a stall selling clothes that looked your size. You purchased a dark blue form-fitting tunic that stopped above your knees and had slits on the sides that went up to your hips. It paired very nicely with the brown pants and brown coat with dark blue highlights you bought as well. Kili helped barter with the merchants since you didn’t know the fair price of things here. In another section of the market, you bought spools of black, blue, and pink thread. You put your belongings in your new bag.
“Are we done?” Kili asked, sounding slightly annoyed. He was ready to go back to the others and be away from so many elves. You sighed and rolled your eyes playfully and nodded. He led you through the busy crowded markets by holding your hand. You were thankful he was in front of you so he couldn’t see your blush. You made it back to the group, who had set up camp in a courtyard garden at the end of a hallway. Just as you arrived two female and two male elves came down the hallway.
One of the males stepped forward, “The bathhouse is ready for you now” he said to the group.
“Bath?! We don’t need no stinkin’ bath!” Exclaimed a dwarf from behind the fire. The rest heartily agreed, not ready to drop their pants on elvish soil it seemed.
“I’d like a bath” you timidly said, not wanting to make a fuss but very much wanting to be clean.
“Very good mistress dwarf, if you’ll follow us,” one of the female elves said. You were tense as you followed the four elves down the corridor, not sure what you were doing.
“You best go with her lad,” Dori said to Kili, “You never know what an elf might try to pull.” He glared at the back of the elves as they walked away. Kili nodded and ran after you.
“Y/N!” He called making you and the elves stop.
“Oh, change your mind, Kili?” You asked with an innocent smile, happy to have his company.
“Yeah, I guess so.” He smiled too.
You were led to a large door that opened into a covered hot spring that flowed over the balcony to create an assumably gorgeous waterfall. Columns lined the outer edge of the room which was split down the middle by a cloth partition. The male elves walked to one side of the divider with Kili in tow, while the females walked to the other. The elves asked that you wash under the heated shower of water off to the side before entering the hot springs. They left you to your own devices.
“I’ve never seen anything like this have you?” You asked Kili across the large room.
“No” He smiled at the wonder in your voice from seeing new things and making discoveries. He thought it was very cute.
You placed your bag and new clothes on the vanity in the corner. You undressed and stepped under the warm shower. You used the bar of soap you found to wash your hair and body. It was the best-smelling soap you’d ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
“Hey, Kee?” You hollered.
“Yeah?” He yelled back.
“Do you plan on keeping your soap?”
“No…Why?”
“I’ll take it then. I’ll need extra anyway,” And you were so happy you did. That soap made your hair silky smooth and stronger than ever. You rinsed the suds away then stepped into the hot springs.
It felt luxurious. You couldn’t help but moan a little as the heat pulled every knot and tense muscle from you. Relaxed, you floated in the steamy water.
“You still there Kili?” you asked suddenly nervous he’d left you.
“Yeah, I’m here” He replied, “We shouldn’t take too much longer though, Thorin could be back any minute and who knows what kind of a mood he’ll be in.”
That made you enjoy the bath a little faster. Not long after you began drying off and getting dressed. You took the hairbrush and beads and other miscellaneous hair trinkets that were on the vanity. You looked in the mirror at your new outfit. It fit as you thought, though a little snugger in some places than others, hugging your curves to allow for movement yet still baggy for breathability and insulation. Overall, a nice ensemble.
“Ready Y/N?” Kili asked from across the partition.
“Yeah, you can come over, I’m just packing my things.” You replied, folding your old clothes, and putting them in your bag with the rest of your things.
“Here’s the soap” He handed it to you.
“Thanks!” You smiled at him; you simply wrote his flushed cheeks off to the hot water. When you stood, he was able to get a much better look at you in your new clothes.
“A perfect fit I see” He smiled, looking you up and down. He couldn’t help but imagine what you’d look like wearing nothing but his tunic. A line of thought he blushed at and quickly willed away.
“Does it look alright? I don’t know how it’s supposed to fit” You fussed with the hems and the folds trying to make them lay better. He grabbed your hand to make you stop fidgeting.
“You look great,” he said with a genuine smile. You smiled and nodded your appreciation.
You walked back to camp, making moneyless bets on what mood Thorin would be in when he returned.
As you approached Fili saw you in your new outfit and said, “Well look at this…” Making the rest of the company look at you too, “Our wee lass looks like a bona fide middle earther now!” They cheered at your near-complete indoctrination.
“Now she just needs to learn how to fight like one.” Bofur quipped from beside the fire.
“Then I wouldn’t need any of you to protect me!” You put the back of your hand to your forehead feigning a damsel in distress, making the company laugh. You sat on the ground beside the long chair Kili was now examining his weapons in and leaned against it. You held out a stone fish figurine to him.
“As a thank you for helping me” you cleared your throat “…And for being my friend.” You couldn’t meet his eyes, but you knew he was smiling a little around his reed pipe. He took it from your open hands. You know it wasn’t much but it’s all you could offer.
“Maybe one day you can return it to the ocean,” you said, referring to your previous conversation.
“Maybe I will,” he smiled down at you with genuine fondness.
“Bombur!” Bofur called before throwing a sausage to his cousin. The table, which took skilled elfin craftsman months, even years to craft and carve out of solid wood, collapsed under the massive weight of Bombur. Everyone erupted in laughter, it was nice to be part of the group and share in the merriment.
~~
Thorin stopped Balin on their way back to the camp, “We should leave her here,” He said, “She is a liability.”
Balin had a terrible sinking feeling in his round tummy when he thought of splitting you up.
“So what if she is, Thorin?” Balin said near pleading. “Have you ever seen your nephew that happy or open with a girl that quick before? I’ve never seen the lad so engaged in a conversation that didn’t have to do with weapons before last night. So what if she dies on our quest, at least we gave them a chance to happen, and if fate finds their pairing favorable it will all work out!” Balin was desperate to keep you and the young prince together if only to keep the sinking feeling at bay.
Thorin huffed, “Very well, but her blood is not on my hands,” He walked away and into the camp.
~~
Thorin and Balin returned, and the tone became slightly more serious—slightly. The company settled and laid their bedrolls in the grassy parts of the garden. You laid yours out as well and prepped for sleep by removing your shoes and coat. The night was warm enough that your blanket would suffice. You looked up at the stars wondering if any of the constellations were the same as back home. You cuddled your coat to your chest relishing the feel of the soft fabric. The low conversation between Fili and Kili, while they sat on watch across the fire, lulled you to sleep.

Cults. Would your characters join one, bust one, create one, based on what?
(This question was posted on the r/FanFiction subreddit and I had fun with my answers, so I figured I'd share it here also.)
Oh! This is fun! Head canons for The Hobbit Dwarves. Thorin - IS THE CULT! Have you seen his hair? Kili - joined one for the thrill of it. Fili - dragged along by Kili. Dwalin - busts all cults with his battle axes. Balin - negotiates between cults. Gloin - neutral unless they mess with his son. Oin - heals injuries from cult rituals or cult wars. (medic) Bombur - makes the cool-aid for the cults. (wow...that got dark) Bifur - busts all cults. Brain injury from past cult ritual. Bofur - entertainment for all cult functions. (musician/comic) Nori - starts a thief's cult. Ori - forced into it by Nori. Dori - saves Ori from Nori's cult. And finally... Bilbo - doesn't know what the heck's going on. Just along for the ride. (I realized partway through that I started approaching this more like the Mafia and not Cults, but I kept rolling with it.)

Kidnapped Kid-Kili, Fili, and Ori story idea
So we start with Bilbo on his return trip home from a walking journey. He hears shouting off the road but it doesn't sound like hobbits and he decides to investigate in case it's bandits or something that needs to be reported to the Rangers/Bounders.
As he gets closer he can make out what is being said and catches "Well I didn't know that the whole settlement was broke did I! At least we got paid some to take the kids but I say we cut our losses and just kill them and move on!" He hears a few choked sobs at that and spots three dwarf children then and a bit away two adult dwarves who are the ones shouting.
"Shut up! It's no good to scare them more like that! I think we can sell them, maybe at a mannish market." The two adult dwarves continue their argument and Bilbo creeps up to the kids.
"Come along now children lets get you out of here." He whispers as he helps them up and leads them away. He pulls out three extra travel cloaks, he packed heavy due to autumn chill and surprise rainstorms, and has them put the cloaks on. "Now if I tell you to curl up under your cloak on the ground okay?"
The three nod up at him. He leads them to the other side of the road and then past where they were camped. A good half an hour later of walking and he hears a cart approaching and has the kids hunker down while he backtracks some and starts rewalking on the road. The cart comes around the corner Bilbo almost cries in relief. "Hamfast!" he calls as the cart comes to a stop.
"Good to see you Mr. Bilbo, on yer way home?"
"Come on out kids it's just Hamfast, he's safe!" Bilbo calls and turns to Hamfast, "I don't suppose you would be willing to turn around and give us a ride back to Bag End? We really need to get somewhere safe."
Hamfast is of course confused by these dwarf children but agrees and they put them in the back of the cart and hand them a bag full of apples to snack on. As they travel Bilbo fills Hamfast in on what happened. Of course he is horrified, people stealing and then threatening to kill children is just barbaric, why he couldn't imagine how it would feel if that happened to him.
So Bilbo and the children are dropped off and Hamfast agrees to alert the Rangers and Bounders and tell all the hobbits he knows so nobody goes blabbing to strangers about Bilbo having dwarf children. The kids are just happy to be warm and provided with food. Ori tugs on Fili and whispers to him about writing letters home so someone can come get them. Fili asks Bilbo and Bilbo thinks it's a good plan.
The only dwarf who Ori knows the mailing place of is Balin, so they write their letters to their family but send them to Balin. A month or so later Bilbo, who now knows all about the boys in his care, was happily walking them home from the market when he spots a lot of dwarves on ponies and pulls the kids to a stop. He quickly gets in front of the kids and tells them to run and hide. About then the dwarves jump off the ponies and start racing towards Bilbo and the boys start screaming AMAD! DORI! UNCLE! and running towards the group.
Basically the whole company plus Dis have all come to find the kids. Bilbo is so relieved and the dwarves are very thankful and indeed shocked by his braveness and willingness to protect the boys. Thorin tries to figure out a way to pay him back but Bilbo declines, says all he wants is for the boys to be safe and maybe write him every once in a while and invites them all to stay at Bag End for the night. Bilbo, Fili, Kili, and Ori tell them all about what they heard and saw from and of the kidnappers.
They get a good bit of snow that night and the dwarves realize that if there is snow out in the Shire that their way home would probably be impassable already. Cue dwarves in the Shire. Fixing things, having a mild winter, eating enough, oh and of course Dis being the first to see how much Thorin and Bilbo like each other and doing her best to get them together.
Also Ori is part of the kidnap because he is Fili and Kili's best friend and Balin teaches them lessons and they were all together and the kidnappers didn't know how many kids they were supposed to take. No real idea of who ordered the kidnapping but just feels extra angsty for it to be paid for and not just idiots kidnapping the Heirs to the Throne and thinking they will get away alive.

so, i am one film in of my the hobbit re-watch and it's interesting how they portrayed each dwarf visually. there's quite an amount of fighting which showcases us the way they act: who's the fighter and who's the carer, who's the leader and who's the follower, who's the mind and who's the brutal force. but — their appearance does tell a huge part of the untold story about who they are and what are their roles in the company.
while re-watching 'an unexpected journey' i had an opportunity to pay closer attention to fili and kili:
and if i still didn't know a single thing about them aside basics and was asked «who's going to be the next king?», i'd say fili without hesitation, based only on the visual.
fili is put together. he might even seem to be somewhat arrogant with his facial expressions. and visual implications of him being the mature one are in his braids, his still growing beard but already braided mustache.
in comparison to kili — fili has a little bit of the weight that the age brings on him.
one of the reasons why we might sympathise alot with kili is because kili feels young. his appearance screams that he is the youngest: long unbraided/barely braided hair and those bangs, strands of hair over his face in a way to make it look rounder and cuter. we see kili act impulsively, him being all over the place with attachement and trust, him being childishly loud and stupidly brave. and his appearance really makes sense of that.
the relationships between durin's are also quite interesting to look at:
the thing with fili is not just him being the oldest of the brothers, for also because he is prepared/taught to be mature one. we hear it quickly in action during the departure from laketown but richard also said in the appendices that thorin prepares fili to be the next to the throne. and i think, he used the word «groomed» which might mean that they're at the beginning of the process that is not exactly wanted by one of the sides. hence, why i am using «prepared/taught to» — fili is still young and dumb at times but he is ahead of kili on the ride of growing up. because he has to. he is, again, more put together but he has alot of weaponry that he carries on him in order to be prepared for any sort of fight. he learns skills and hence the reason he still has huge assignment of blades to chose from.
fili is also less confrontational with thorin. kill is really open and honest about his feelings towards thorin's actions, for example in the scenes where thorin is unfair to bilbo. seems like kili really did get attached to the hobbit and was not shy to be judgemental.
also desperate for he is still young and doesn't really understand the meaning of calculated decisions and compromises.
fili usually keeps to the side, be it because he observes, has less confrontational character or just knows not to interfere when thorin gets moody. when kili jokes on bilbo — fili just plays along. when thorin starts to berate them it's kili who's ashamed but fili is just there. he is so done with thorin, it seems, he doesn't have it in him to react.
observing kili's behavior we can say that kili looks up to thorin in a more sincere, childish way. thorin is the hero of his childhood dreams, for he is the dwarf who took up on the role of his father while juggling all of his other duties. kili wants to impress thorin, wants to be good for him too, it shows in a way he jumps into fights hot-headed. and he is often ashamed when he disappoints him.
fili, on the other hand, just does what thorin says because he knows thorin will want of him exactly that. he learned a lot from and of thorin, he knows how to operate under his command. in a way, he might start to see thorin more as a leader rather than a father figure.
and it might be for another post but we see fili get openly confrontational only in 'the desolation of smaug' and only because kili is in danger. no matter how important it is for thorin to raise a king out of him, fili is still going to put his brother first.
he protests:
first time is when thorin rushes everyone on the river bank while kili needs healer's attention because of his leg.
second time — when thorin wants fili to go with them to erebor and fili choses to stay in laketown with kili who's gotten worse. thorin needs fili there with them because he is the next in line. fili's priorities lie with his brother. and that's probably the most loud conflict fili had with thorin in the whole trilogy. that was the conflict of interests.
the most loud conflict kili had with thorin, though, is in 'the battle of the five armies' when he finally had enough of thorin hiding behind a wall while the rest are dying for them. he almost lost respect for thorin and that was his last attempt to bring him to his senses because this thorin was not his childhood hero, was not the person he looks up to and the matter at hand wasn't just his foul character. it was the conflict of morals.
and i find that beautiful.
#it might have already been pointed out#but i found it so interesting to see the way the conflict but push trough#they are family#and family always has conflicts of morals and interests#kili and fili love thorin and respect him#hence why they're on this quest#but sometimes the uncle is unbearable#and sometimes they're insufferable#the family dynamic is what i am living for#thorin oakenshield#fili#kili#the hobbit an unexpected journey#the hobbit the desolation of smaug#the hobbit#may thinks thoughts#character analysis

“I should really go and wash now…”
Kaia murmurs this as she lies beside the two Durin princes. Her eyes are closed, but her other senses are all she needs to ground her.
The warmth radiates from her two lovers bodies as they brush their arms over her body. Kili lies on his side, playing with her tangled and messy hair. Fili was practically asleep, his breath coming out in even puffs as he presses his face against her shoulder.
“Stay with us…” Kili whines, kissing her cheek.
“If I stay with you any longer, I won’t be able to leave you all night…” Kaia groans.
“You say that like it’s a bad thing.” Fili chuckles, nuzzling his nose along the skin of her bicep.
“It is if I don’t want to smell like sweat and sex for the next day of travel.”
“Again, you say that like it’s a bad thing!” Kili laughs, looking at her profile with starry eyes. “But you’re right. You deserve to have a wash, you’ve taken care of us so well…”
“Damn straight.” Fili whispers, shuddering slightly as he drags his fingers over her collarbones.
“Alright, I’m getting up, before we start all over again.”
With great effort on her part, Kaia sits up. The two princes try weakly to get her down, but give up when she continues rising to her knees.
More of the prince’s spend seeps out of her, dripping down her thighs.
Kaia groans at the feeling, looking around for her undergarments to try to keep some of her dignity when she ventured back to the group.
But they were nowhere to be seen.
“Which one of you has taken them?”
“What?” Kili asks.
“My underwear.”
“We haven’t taken them. What do you think we are, delinquents?" Fili chuckles, although he looks like he is considering it.
Either one or both of the princes were lying… or someone else took them.
The thought of one of the other dwarves sneaking over during their tryst, and stealing her underwear… it shouldn’t have turned her on, but it did.
And she knew exactly who took it…
Nori.
Kaia chuckled to herself, shaking her head at her shameless kleptomaniac friend.
“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing.” Kaia sighs, standing up, her skirts falling around her. She looks over at the two Durins, who were staring up at her with adoring eyes. “I love you both.”
“We love you too, Amrâlimê.” Kili says, his smile so sweet it was infectious.
“So much.” Fili agrees, winking at her. Kaia giggles, securing her boots back onto her feet.
The elder Durin looks over at his brother, nodding towards Kaia. His brother gives him a questioning look, and Fili nods over at her again, raising his eyebrows.
“Fili, what- ow!” Kili rubs his thigh where Fili kicked him, then it dawns on him. “OH!”
Kaia giggles as Kili rushes to stand up, stumbling over himself as he makes sure his clothes are right and his hair isn’t sticking up on it’s ends.
With a deep breath, he takes a step towards her.
“Kaia, Amrâlimê…” Kili starts, taking her hand in his own, “I have fallen in love with you. My body and soul belongs to you, as I’m sure you are aware now… Would you do me the honour of wearing my braid, and courting me?”
He reaches into one of his pockets, taking out a small wooden bead. Kaia gasps, accepting the braid into her palm. She admires the ornate details carved into the small dark brown bead. Letters she recognises as Khuzdul and symbols which are beautiful and intricate.
“It’s.. uh, it’s not much!” Kili stammers, taking her staring at it as her disappointment, “I wanted to wait until we reclaimed Erebor and had access to the forges, but my heart told me to make you one while we travel… I know it’s very soon, but…”
“Kili, shush.” Kaia giggles, throwing her arms around his shoulders. His own arms immediately wrap around her waist, and his body sags in relief as she presses a kiss to his temple. “I would be honoured to court you.”
Kili leans his head back, pressing a hand to the top of her head before he pulls her into a deep kiss.
“Maralmizi…” He groans against her lips, holding her waist and head firmly but gently, as if she were as precious as the finest jewel in his hands.
“I’ll court you, as long as I can keep having both you and your brother to keep me warm!” Kaia says cheekily, nipping at his neck.
“Sounds good to me!” Fili calls to them, and she see him sitting back with his arms behind his head, oozing confidence with a shit-eating grin on her face.
“You could fuck the entire Company and I would still love you, Arsûnê.” Kili growled, “In fact, the thought of that alone makes me want to take you all over again…”
The young prince’s hand slides down her body, grabbing her ass cheeks roughly. She squeals, and he captures her lips into his own, biting down onto her lower lip.
“Oh for the love of Mahal, Kili, let the girl go and bathe!” Fili laughs, climbing to his knees to extract Kili from Kaia.
“Oi, shut up! You’re not her One…"
“No I’m one of her Many.” Fili drawls his arms encircling her waist.
“Ooh, did you just come up with that, your highness?"
“Yes, I’m clever like that.” Fili presses a kiss against her clothed stomach, before taking both her hands in each of his, distributing a kiss on each of her knuckles. “Now go, bathe, get that hair ready for Kili’s braid and that beautiful body for me to devour…”
Kaia gasps, and Fili gives her a devilish smile.
As she rushes off, she catches the two brothers talking.
“Hey! How come you get to pleasure her down there again? You’ve already down it once!” Kili exclaims, and she can hear Fili make a noise.
“Mahal, Kili, did you not?!”
Kaia chuckles to herself as their bickering continues.
-
Coming to a clearing not too far from her lovers, she finds the lake.
The moon is high above the trees, bathing the waters in pale light. The air is cold, but Kaia’s body is still burning with the ministrations of her prince’s.
But, she begins to grow cold, and her anticipation for a good clean has her practically giddy.
She was suddenly thankful for her clothes being half hanging off of her, as it took a quick tug and a pull for Kaia to be as bare as the day she was born.
Readying herself, she jumped and dove into the water.
The cold was invigorating, shocking her system from being in a tired, post orgasmic thrum, into full energy.
Kaia floated to the surface, tugging her hair from her face, and over her shoulder. She ran her hands through the long tresses, separating the knots and cleaning out the dirt and grime which had lingered for far too long.
As she played with her strands, she thought about the courting braid she would soon wear. Kili’s courting braid was tucked in her skirt pocket, waiting for her hair to be ready and Kili to plait it into said hair.
It felt so intimate, so personal, so romantic.
And very right.
Kaia was unwilling to begin a relationship with the young prince, though she felt a pull to him she had never felt before. Resentment hit her for the fact that she harboured feelings and desires for not only Kili, but for his brother, and his uncle, and Dwalin, and Bofur… and, I mean, if we are keeping count, she wouldn’t kick Nori or Bifur out of bed…
But now, her soul was free. She could be with Kili, belong to him fully, as much as he belonged to her. And she would enjoy Fili too… and perhaps the others…
“Oh, Mahal…” A quiet voice exclaims behind her.
Kaia turns around, her eyes landing first on a familiar strange hat, lowering down onto the kind face of Bofur, which was currently lacking its usual goody smile, and was sporting a bright blush beneath its moustache.
“Hi, Bofur.” Kaia says, smiling innocently at him.
Bofur does not meet her eyes. He seems to be unable to decide where to look. His eyes seem drawn to look over her exposed, wet flesh, but he was clearly uncomfortable about leering at her. “Uh… hi, lass.”
Kaia bit her lip, stifling a big grin at his flushed appearance and husky voice. His hands flexed besides him, and he shuffled awkwardly, completely short-wiring.
He was so… Bofur, even in this situation. Goofy, adorable, but handsome in his own wat. Bofur’s brown eyes flicker up to hers, and the sight of his blown out pupils and his dark eyebrows slightly creased makes Kaia clench her thighs beneath the water.
Wow, I am insatiable tonight. Maybe I am part dwarrowdam…
“Is everything okay, sweetheart?” Kaia asks, her voice teasing as she feigned innocence, dragging her fingers through her hair, before drawing her fingertips over her chest.
Bofur’s eyes follow the movement, and he swallows thickly, hypnotised by the movements of her digits as well as the movements of her heaving chest.
“My apologies for intruding on you, Kaia. Nori told me about the lake, he said you were last to go but that had been a while ago, I expected you to be long gone…”
“I got… held up… I can leave if you want?” Kaia lets her hair fall around her as she begins rising out of the water, the tops of her breasts breaking the surface of the water.
The dwarves eyes follow her for a second, mouth hanging open. But just before her nipples can be exposed to the air, he turns around, shaking his head.
“No, no, lass it’s fine! You go right ahead, I’ll wait until you’re done!” His voice is higher than usual, and she can hear how his breath is coming out quickly. He shifts on his feet, and Kaia wonders if he's hard.
The thought makes Kaia wasn’t to dip her hands between her legs, taking her clit between her fingers as she imagines Bofur’s skilled, musical tongue playing her like his flute. What could he do with his hands, how big was his cock…?
“Don’t be silly, the lake is big enough for the both of us…” Kaia says, swimming backwards slightly. It was true, the lake was large. Big enough for a human and a dwarf to wash with a comfortable distance between them.
Although, with the way her cunt is throbbing, Kaia believe she may have an obscured idea of what is “comfortable”…
“I… I couldn’t lass. Truly… it would be improper-”
“Oh, hi, Dori! Why are you wearing Bofur’s hat?” Nimue chuckles, sarcasm drips from her voice.
Bofur turns his head around to give her a half-assed glare. As his eyes travel down to where her body disappears into the water, he swallows thickly. His Adam’s apple disappears beneath his scarf, and Nimue wants to grab it off of him to gaze at more of his throat.
“Alright, lass… if you are sure…?” Bofur asks, turning around to look at her. “You should know I’m as hard as a rock right now, if that makes you feel uncomfortable.”
Kaia laughs heartily at this. There’s the Bofur she adores, him and his inability to keep his words inside his head.
“If you don’t get in here in the next minute, I might have to drag you in.”
Bofur stares at her, completely frozen for a minute. He makes a choked sound, and nods.
“Yes, ma’am.”
Ooh, she liked that.
He began to take off his scarf, making Kaia grin in satisfaction. As he placed it on a nearby rock, he narrowed his eyes and eyed her.
“Are you going to eye me the entire time?” He asks, trying to seem annoyed but the feeling of her eyes on him makes his stomach twist into pleasant knots.
“Perhaps.”
“Something tells me the conversation from earlier really struck a chord in you, lass.”
“Perhaps.”
“Are you going to keep giving my cryptic answers to my questions?”
“Perhaps.” Nimue gave him a smirk, pursing her lips as he gives her another glare.
“Har har.” He says dryly, rolling the ‘r’s in a way that made Kaia feel all kinds of things.
Bofur kept undressing, taking off his coat, and his gloves. He stripped more and more layers, and Kaia bit her lip as he exposed more of his skin.
He was big and beefy the way dwarves usually are, but had a good amount of muscle underneath his skin. Dark hair covered his chest, and he had a fierce happy trail which ended above his long johns.
“Like what you see?” Bofur asked, his tone joking but there was a hint of insecurity in the question which made Kaia want to jump out of the lake and wrap her arms around him.
“Very much.” She says, her voice drawing out the syllables.
Bofur smiled wolfishly, looking down as a blush deepened the colour in his cheeks.
“Stop teasing and take it all off, Bofur.” She growled out his name, and he flushes red at the command in his voice.
He pushes down the last piece of fabric covering his lower half, and before she can get a proper peak, he holds one of his big hands over his crotch. He gives her a cheeky smile, wiggling his eyebrows.
“Tease.” Kaia grumbles.
“I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.” Bofur winks.
“I’ll do you one better.” Kaia smiles slyly, and she closes her eyes as she stretches herself out in the water, “Touch me and feel what you are missing out on…”
There is a second of silence, before a loud splash erupts around her. Within seconds, Kaia is swept up in two big, strong arms and lifted up. She gasps, and wraps her legs around a solid body which presses itself against her.
Kaia opens her eyes, and giggles as Bour looks at her with a bright smile and kind eyes.
And he’s still wearing his hat.
“I knew the hat would be the last thing you take off.” The human lass chuckles, shaking her head with a fond smile.
“Oh, so you think this is coming off?” Bofur wiggles his head around, making the flaps jiggle.
“You and that hat...”
“You love it.” Bofur holds her closer, his eyes focused on her lips.
Taking his hint, Kaia reaches down and presses her lips to his.
She is rewarded instantly by him groaning against her lips. She slips slightly in his arms, and her heat bumps against something hard and heavy between them.
Bofur gasps, lifting his head away as he looks into her eyes.
“I did warn you.” Bofur chuckles, looking away sheepishly.
Kaia hums, tracing her lips over his cheek. She scoots her hips slightly, welcoming the feel of him pressed against her.
Bofur makes a choked noise, pulling his head back to look at her.
“Not here.” He says quickly, his eyes blown out with lust.
With a quick movement, he pulls them from the water, carrying her over to the bank to lay her down.
Bofur leans back on his heels as he admires her, his eyes wide and chest heaving as he looks over her wet, beautiful body.
She herself stares at him, eyes raking down his bulky dwarvish form until she finds what she has been desperate to see.
Kaia gulps at the sight.
As with all the dwarves, apparently, Bofur is very well endowed. His cock is hard and heavy, with a light curve to the left which makes her clit spasm. Without thinking, her hand draws between her legs, and she flicks a finger over the small bud at the sight of Bofur’s impressive member.
At the sight, Bofur’s cock twitches. He shivers, and groans.
“Mahal maharuma…” The hatted dwarf murmurs to himself, and he drags his own hand down his length at the sight of her, spread legged and touching herself. His other hand glides along her thigh, touching her so gently as if she may break.
That won’t do.
Kaia sits up pressing into Bofur’s chest to kiss him, tangling their tongues as Bofur gasps, biting down onto her bottom lip.
He lets Kaia guide him so he is lying down on the bank below, and she straddles his torso.
Kaia leans forward, grinding her lower regions against Bofur’s bare stomach as she takes his hands in her own. Bofur gasps slightly, looking up into her eyes. He looks up at her with such a gentle, adoring expression, filled with desire which was not the same fiery lust that Fili’s had, nor the sweet eagerness Kili’s had. Bofur was looking at her like she was a goddess.
Overwhelmed by the emotion in his deep brown eyes, Kaia leaned forward, kissing him. He tilted his head, deepening the kiss. His facial hair was tickly, and she chuckled into his lips.
“I’m glad I can make you laugh even here, lass.” Bofur murmurs into her lips, his own smile can be heard through his gentle words.
“Only you can make me feel so comfortable even here, sweet dwarf.”
Bofur pulls back from her, his face positively glowing from his beaming smile.
“You warm my heart, Kardûna.” He whispers, nuzzling her nose with his own.
Bofur’s hand traces along her neck, and she can feel tender flesh there.
Kili and Fili must have marked her up with hickeys.
“Now what happened here? Get attacked by a wild dwarrow?” He chuckles, tickling over the bruised skin.
“Both Kili and Fili have had me already…”
“Had you? In what sense, sweet girl?” Bofur says, a teasing smile on his lips
“Both Kili and Fili have been inside of me.” Kaia says, rolling her eyes, but she feels almost sheepish as she traces circles along Bofur’s chest.
“Mahal maharuma…” The dwarf groans. Kaia would think that it was from disappointment or disgust, but his eyes rolled back into his head slightly, and he hardened even more underneath her.
“Look how quickly you have joined in our wicked ways, starlight!” Bofur smirks up at her, curling a strand of her hair around his finger.
“Mmm, do you want to hear all about it, you naughty dwarf?”
“Fuck, tell me what they did to you...” Bofur groans, grabbing her thighs as his hips bucked up slightly.
“Kili found me in the woods, he was so desperate for me, and I took him in my mouth so eagerly.” Kaia kissed along Bofur’s jaw as she recounted the events of the evening. “When he got close, we lay down, and I took him inside of me. Then Fili stumbled upon us. He pleasured me with his mouth before he fucked me raw.”
“Did they finish in your sweet cunt?” He gasps, gripping onto her thighs.
“Yes, they both did.”
Bofur is breathing heavily now, his chest lifting Kaia up and down with the force of his breaths.
Looking over her shoulder, she could see he was fully hard, pressing up towards his stomach. The head was red and begging for attention. She reached back, wrapping a hand around him.
The groan which erupted from Bofur was animalistic, he seethed through his teeth as he tried to get himself under control.
“Lass, lass, wait a second, please, Ghivashel…” Kaia does as he says, releasing him and resting both of her hands on his shoulders.
“Are you okay, sweet dwarf?”
“I’ve never been so beyond okay, you beautiful minx.” He laughs, reaching his hand up to fix his hat slightly. She nuzzled his neck, revelling in the smell of him. “I want you so badly, Kardûna, but I want to have you slowly. I want to savour the feel of you.”
Kaia moans at this, licking a stripe up his neck. A low rumble erupts out of the hat-wearing dwarf, almost like a purr.
“I want that too, Bofur.” She smiles up at him, and the smile he returns her warms her heart. “I want you as one of my lovers, to have whenever I want, as slowly as I want.” She elongates her words, grinding her wet pussy against his chest.
“Sounds like delicious torture.” Bofur moans, dropping his head back. His hat covers his eyes, and Kaia giggles at the funny sight.
“May I play with your hair, sweet dwarf?”
“If you don’t, I will be sorely disappointed.” Comes his reply, his eyes still covered with his hat.
“We can’t have that, now, can we?” Kaia reaches a hand up, undoing the ties binding his hair together. With gentle fingers, she coaxes them out of their tight knots, and they fall into soft waves around his shoulders. “Mmm, my beautiful dwarrow.”
“Oh, ‘ibin abnâmul, fuck… my beautiful lass.”
“I need you inside of me, my darling.”
“Fuck yourself onto my cock, darling.” Bofur sighs, reaching a hand up to shift his hat back. His eyes twinkle, taking Kaia’s breath away. “Take what you need from me, my sweetest girl.”
Kaia does not need any more instructions.
Stretching up, she lifts her hands above her head. Bofur’s eyes follow her movements, drinking in her body as it writhes above him.
Dragging her hands over her chest, Kaia plays with her nipples, tweaking them and rolling them under her fingers.
“Mahal, Kaia…” Bofur takes his lip between his teeth, his body shuddering beneath her.
“Do you like what you see?” Kaia smiles, repeating Bofur’s earlier line.
“More than you could imagine.” He groans, and he reaches one hand up to graze it over her pert nipple.
Kaia is astonished by how big his hands are compared to hers, his fingers play with her nipples and put her own to shame. She rolls her head back, gasping as he applies the perfect amount of pressure.
“Do you like that, lass?” His soft voice asks, and she nods weakly. “You’re so wet, I can feel you dripping all over me, you dirty girl.”
The way his voice growls out the last bit of the sentence releases another wave of her arousal.
His hands move to her waist, running his hands over her soft skin with his calloused finger tips.
“Are you ready for me, Bofur?” Kaia asks teasingly.
“Lass, if you don’t sit on my cock right now I’m going to spontaneously combust-”
As he speaks, Kaia lifts herself up and shifts backwards, lining her pulsing heat with his throbbing head.
Bofur stops speaking, mouth still open as he gasps at the feel of her.
Kaia grins down at him, as she sinks herself down onto his thick shaft.
Bofur becomes a shuddering mess beneath her, sweat forming across his neck and his forehead. His hands remain on her hips, and she can feel them flex against her skin.
“And to think I’ve been spending myself in my hand all this time.” Bofur sighs, looking deeply into her eyes, “You feel like a dream.”
“What do you think about when you cum?” Kaia asks, her voice erratic as she begins to move on top of Bofur’s dick.
“My hat.” He replies seriously.
Kaia stops moving, and Bofur’s face breaks out into a mischievous grin.
“I fuck my hand thinking it’s you lass, obviously. Now get a move on before I spill myself immediately!”
He’s trying so hard to keep himself at bay, eyes rolling back as she lowers herself further and further onto him, until their hips bump.
“Oh, gods… ugh, fu-uck, lass!” Bofur gasps out throwing his head back. His hat slips over his eyes again, and Nimue lets a laugh escape, but it turns into a breathy gasp as he throbs inside of her.
“I’m going to fuck you slow, Bofur, my sweet dwarf.”
“Please, please!” The hatted dwarf begs, eyes covered by his silly hat.
Raising herself up slowly, she lets him almost completely fall out of her, just the tip remaining trapped inside of her. Then, she rocks forwards, taking him fully once again.
Bofur moans, a deliciously long sound that erupts from low in his throat.
Kaia gasps out as she rocks on top of her sweet dwarf, her cunt fluttering around him in a way which feels heavenly for both of them.
His hands are so gentle as they drag up and down her body, guiding her movements but not pushing her up and down. The control Kaia feels is addicting. Bofur trusts her completely with his pleasure.
Leaning over him, Kaia presses her lips to his own, kissing him long and slow as she uses her hands to assist in her up and down movements along his cock.
Bofur moans against her lips, kissing her deeply as one of his hands comes to rest on the back of her head.
“So good to me, so warm and tight around my cock… fuck, you take me so well, lass…” Bofur’s words are like a song in her ears, surrounding her and filling her body up as good as he cock does.
Kaia can feel her orgasm approaching, the position they’re in has her rubbing her clit over his pelvis with every lift of her hips.
“Bofur… I…” Kaia gasps, pressing her head to Bofur’s neck.
“I can feel you, sweetheart.” Bofur groans, holding onto her back as he gently thrusts into her.
Her orgasm is fast approaching, and she’s practically bouncing on top of him as creeps closer and closer to that beautiful coil snapping-
It hits as Bofur slams his cock up into her, and she grips onto his shoulders as she releases with a high pitched, pathetic mewl.
“Oh, mahal maharuma, you feel so good, please I need to-” The hatted dwarf begs her as his hips stutter against his own.
Bofur, in all of his kindness, does not want to hurt her by fucking her whilst she comes down from her high. But she can feel how his cock pulsates inside of her, he’s on the precipice and, damn it, if she doesn’t want to hear what he sounds like when he cums.
“Fuck, don’t stop Bofur! Let me feel you and your beautiful cock- OH!” Nimue squeals when she feels Bofur plant his feet down.
With a firm grasp in her hair and a hand on her lower back, Bofur begins slamming into her.
He jackhammers her with a speed she did not think possible. The squelching of her cunt is loud as he forces his cock into her over and over again, chasing his own release with at a feverish pace.
Kaia can only grasp onto whatever she can find as he keeps up his unrelenting thrusts.
Being pressed to his chest makes her nipples rub against the coarse hair on his chest, and her clit throbs against his pelvis every time it slams against her.
“Bofur, Bofur, fuck!” She screams out, biting down onto his shoulder as he pulls her down to slam down onto his cock until her brain is… mush.
He groans into her ear, barely forming sentences as all of his words are followed by harsh grunts. “Kaia… fuck…. so good… Mahal…” His accent seems to become stronger and harsher the closer he gets to his own release.
Suddenly, Kaia felt herself cum again. The overstimulation mixed with the pace at which Bofur slams into her sends her hurtling off of the edge for a second time on his perfect, dwarvish cock.
His hips stuttered, and his eyes flew open as he stared deeply into her eyes.
“Please… please, Kaia, pull my hair!” Bofur whines, and she cannot deny him when he sounds so sweet, asking her so nicely.
With a shaky and weak hand, Kaia reached up and dug her fingers under his hat, which was flopping around erratically to match the speed and strength in which he sheathed himself inside of her.
Finding his scalp, Kaia grasped at his thick hair, tugging with all the strength she could muster and licking the sweat forming around his upper lip.
Bofur howled, slamming for a final time up into her as his cock pulsed erratically, filling her with his warm spend. She bounced herself against him to prolonged his orgasm, and he gasped and moaned as she milked him dry.
After a moment, they lay still.
Resting her cheek against his chest, Kaia listened to the thumping of Bofur’s heart as she tried to catch her breath. The world around her was fuzzy around the edges.
“So much for getting clean…” Kaia chuckles, and Bofur looked down at her with a fond smile.
“I’m so I made you so dirty, lass.” He says. Kaia places a kiss against his lips, nudging at his moustache.
“No, you’re not.”

The company had been walking for hours it seemed. And they probably had been walking for hours, but the point is that their feet were hurting and they were in dire need of some rest. Though, as stubborn as the King was, Thorin kept going.
"No time for rest," He'd say as most of the company groaned, "We must make it to the next town before sundown."
But it had been hours. Walking and walking. They didn't even have ponies to ride on, and their backs hurt as they carried their heavy bags, supplies, and weapons. They wanted a break, they needed a break. Yet, their King wasn’t as merciful.
As the hot afternoon sun shone down on the Dwarves and one Hobbit, the bright forest they were wandering through, turned into a misty dark wood. The aura and atmosphere of the forest changed drastically with the change in temperature. The air was cooler as well as the smell, and the leaves crunched underfoot with every step they took.
Then, suddenly, the air turned freezing cold. It felt like an icy blast hit them all at once, making it feel as if they were standing on a high snowy mountain. They stayed quiet, wary of everything around them, even some pulling out their weapons, just in case. The company looked around, trying to find any sign of danger.
"Be still." Thorin commanded, his eyes narrowing as he looked around him, "Be at the ready for anything."
Then, suddenly, there was singing, coming from somewhere ahead of them. The song was enchanting and sweet, and it made the Company feel slightly more at ease. It was beautiful and melodious, almost like a lullaby; it sent shivers down the Company’s spines.
Fili felt his heartbeat quicken as his mind began to fog, and he couldn't seem to keep up with his thoughts. His head swam with emotions. Was it really a song? Was it just his imagination? He could see himself humming along to the melody, swaying back and forth… It was hypnotic and entrancing. Fili felt as if he was walking on a cloud, as his eyes drooped in a heavy daze until he stopped; pausing mid-step. The fog in his head slowly dissipated, as Fili blinked rapidly; confused. He looked around in panic, watching as the rest of the Company, even his Uncle, slowly, sluggishly walked towards a large lake.
Hypnotized, the Company headed straight for the dark lake, which seemed to be the source of the voice they were all hearing. The water was dark, deep, and misty; however, they didn't care about the lake -- they were all too enthralled by the beautiful song that came from within its depths.
Fili, who had broken free from the hypnotizing song, noticed something as he stared at the lake. Near the middle of it, there was a face, peaking out of the murky waters with bright eyes.
Fili watched as the eyes widened when he realized that the Company was walking closer and closer to what he realized was a Siren. He ran over to the front of the lake, pushing Thorin away from it just in time. Thorin's glazed-over eyes blinked, as he snapped out of his hypnotized state. He quickly realized the severity of the situation and with the help of his eldest nephew, they shook awake the rest of the Company.
"Oh..." The Siren from the waters sighed, "You're no fun."
Thorin turned and glared at you, "What did you do to us?" He demanded and you sighed, rolling your eyes.
"Hypnotized you with my song." You said simply. "A girl's gotta eat."
Kili furrowed his eyebrows, "You eat Dwarves?"
You let out a hauntingly beautiful laugh, "Oh no!" You giggled out, "I hypnotize people to become bait for me to eat. I sing, lure unsuspecting victims in, pull them into the lake, and then the flesh-eating fish will feast on you... While I feast on them."
There was a tense silence after you finished speaking. Then, Thorin spoke up, "Well, you are not going to turn us into a meal!" He exclaimed, making you roll your eyes in annoyance.
"Well, I can't now. For one of you Dwarves has broken out of my spell." Your gaze slid over to stare at Fili before you slipped into the waters below. Fili looked around the lake before you popped out of the water, right in front of Fili; surprising him. "How did you do it?" You tilted your head to the side, your wet hair matted to your head, and parts of your face. "You should have drowned. How do you escape my enchantments?" You questioned. Fili opened his mouth to respond, but he closed it again. His heart was racing, and the blood rushed to his cheeks. You were the most beautiful creature he had ever laid eyes on. You smirked when you noticed and laughed softly.
Thorin pushed Fili behind him, pointing his sword right in your face, making your eyes cross. "Stand back, Siren Temptress." He growled, "Or else we shall skewer you where you stand!"
Your eyebrow raised, amused. “Tempress?” You asked. Fili was shocked at how calm you sounded, despite being threatened, but also surprised at how little effect the threat had. “No one's ever called me that one before. I must say... I like it. But then again, no one's ever fallen out of my spells before." You smirked, tilting your head to the side to stare at Fili again; something about him fascinated you.
"I do not know." Fili answered, "I just felt this pull, and I could think again."
You hummed, "Well..." You ran your gaze across his figure, "You must be special." You mused. "So... Where are you all heading?" You asked and Thorin brought your attention back to him.
"Do not speak as if you had not tried to kill us all."
You glared up at Thorin, pushing the tip of the sword away from your face, "Do you not know that it's quite impolite to point a sword at a lady?"
Thorin scowled, "And yet you tried to harm us!"
"Now, now, Thorin. You play too rough," You chastised, placing a finger on your lips coyly, "That's hardly fair. I didn't mean to harm anyone. It's just my nature." Your brows lowered and you pout your lips.
His glare seemed to harden as he stared at you, "How do you know of me?"
"Oh, your reputation precedes you... Your Highness." Your words dripped with sarcasm and you chuckled, flicking your tail out of the water when Thorin flinched. That comment had hit a nerve. "I may be able to help you, you know." You hummed, eyes slyly dragging your gaze from Thorin to Fili. "I can hypnotize others. You might need me." You let out a dramatic sigh, “And, I’d just love to get out of this lake.”
Fili felt a slight chill run down his spine and he swallowed nervously; he couldn’t stop staring at you. "No! No, you will not come with us." Thorin yelled, as Kili nodded beside him.
"We can't have a Siren join the Company!" Bofur cried out as most of the other Dwarves nodded in agreement.
"I do not know..." Fili began, his eyes staring into yours, "She might be helpful."
The Company turned to look at the elder Prince, eyes wide in shock. "What!? Have you gone mad!?" Bifur exclaimed.
Nori nodded, "She'll eat us to bits, one by one!"
"He must be under her spell!" Ori shouted, backing away from you.
"Why would you want to help us!?" Bombur shouted.
"If we go with her, we all die!" Bofur yelled, trying to get through to Thorin.
Thorin ignored them as he stared at you, narrowing his eyes, "If you step one toe out of line, I will not hesitate to skewer you." He stated firmly.
Your eyes flashed gold, and you grinned devilishly, "Good thing you won't have to."
Your eyes flickered back to their original color, and you dipped the rest of your head back in the water. Fili furrowed his eyebrows as he stared at the water, confused and curious. He, and the rest of the Company, watched as the water bubbled as if it was boiling hot, and then, you rose out of the surface. Instead of your tail, it was replaced with legs, and thankfully whatever magic you used, had given you clothes. A simple billowy tunic, trousers, and boots. If anything, you were also ready for the adventure.
Thorin stared at you, skeptically before going ahead of the group, and leading the way. You saddled up beside Fili, incredibly intrigued by the Prince, and how he was able to break out of your spell. What was special about him? Was he truly immune to your charm? But, the longer you stared at him, the more you realized how handsome he was. His dirty blonde hair, striking blue eyes, and his little mustache braids… There was a sort of magnetism that drew you to him and made you feel like you wanted to be near him. It was strange.
"What should I call you, little Prince?" You asked, gaining his attention.
Fili turned to see you already looking at him, walking alongside him as you clasped your hands behind your back. "I am Fili." He introduced himself, face still flushed, "What is yours?" He asked, turning to face you.
"My name is Y/N." You replied, grinning.
Fili smiled at your response, "It suits you better than Siren."
"Hm. Or Temptress." You added, making him laugh lightly. Fili bit his lip, side-glancing at you with a playful smirk. You frowned slightly, "What are you grinning about?" You asked.
Fili shrugged, "Nothing really, just your company is nice."
"Is that so?" You raised an eyebrow teasingly, as Fili nodded.
"Yes."
You stopped and stared at him for a few moments before smiling, "Good. Because I think you are nice company too."
Kili couldn't help but overhear your conversation with his older brother, smiling slightly in amusement at the two of you.
~~~
Over the past couple of weeks, you had grown closer to the Prince and grew to actually really like him. He was a good person, and he cared very deeply about the people he cared about. You admired that about him. You were starting to notice things about him that you hadn't noticed before. The way he twiddled with his thumbs or how his demeanor changed when near his brother…
You liked seeing Fili happy, you enjoyed spending time with him, and you found yourself falling deeper and deeper with every passing day. You knew that you were in deep, but you didn't care. All you cared about was Fili. You'd been keeping that thought to yourself though. For fear that he might think of you differently if he found out that you had feelings for him. You didn’t want to say it… But you would show him with your sweet gestures.
"What is it like, wandering and going on adventures?" You asked softly, not wanting to wake any of the sleeping Dwarves or gain the attention of Kili who was on night watch.
Fili hummed, staring up at the stars with you, side by side, "Well," He began, "Sometimes it is dangerous, but other times it is quite... Peaceful." He glanced over to you, seeing how your eyes gazed upon the sky. Your face was illuminated by the light coming from the fire which lit up the small area in which the Company had set up camp. You were beautiful, especially with the moonlight shining off your skin. Like a Goddess sent from Mahal himself.
You glanced over at him and looked away shyly. "I wish I could've seen the world more. All my life, I have been in that lake, doing as my parents had taught me." You paused, your fingers playing with the hem of your shirt. "I never thought I would get the chance to see the world." You continued. Fili turned to face you, frowning slightly in concern.
"I understand." He murmured. "For a long time, I wanted to go out on adventures when I was younger."
You bit your lip, before turning your head to the side, looking at Fili, "I'm sorry for almost killing you and your friends."
Fili shook his head, "There's nothing for you to apologize for. It was your nature." You smiled sadly, nodding slightly in understanding before looking back at the starry sky. "What is it like being a Siren?" Fili questioned, breaking the silence between the two of you, "Being able to change your form?"
You blinked, your thoughts suddenly taking a turn. "It is very tiring. To say the least. Swimming all day… It takes a lot of strength." You looked back over at him, "What is it like being a Prince?"
A sad sigh escaped Fili's lips and he glanced up at the sky, "It's difficult, I suppose." He paused, "But I wouldn't trade it for anything." He gave you a small grin.
"Are you happy?" You asked him, and Filipused his lips, thinking before he nodded.
"Yes, I am happy." He looked back at you with his blue eyes, "Are you?"
You sighed, turning to look up at the stars as a shooting star flew by, "I am now." Your hand brushed against the soft grass, your hand bumping lightly into Fili's. His pinkie nudged yours, making your heart flutter. Slowly, his hand encased yours, and he squeezed gently, earning a small giggle from you.
"You're adorable." You said, giggling as he rolled his eyes playfully as his cheeks flushed once more.
"And you are enchanting, Y/N."
~~~
The Battle of the Five Armies was ongoing. There was so much blood and gore. You spent most, if not all of your time in your lake, so you never saw a battle like this before. You were doing your best to help Thorin and his Company, hypnotizing and mesmerizing orcs, forcing themselves to walk off cliffs or stab each other. The fighting was brutal, there was no mercy whatsoever. All dwarves, even though injured or wounded, refused to yield. It was overwhelming. But as you continued to sing, luring a bunch of orcs to kill one another, you took a glance around you, unable to find Fili; you went in search of him.
You began to panic when you made your way to the castle ruins up high on the mountain, eyes widening as you watched Fili, being held by Azog on the broken balcony of the ruins. You froze, petrified as you watched Azog stab Fili in the back, before tossing him away. You screamed as tears streamed down your cheeks. Your blood-curdling scream echoed throughout the mountain, causing many to cover their ears as they began to ring; even some vomited from your piercing yell. You quickly rushed over, falling down on your knees, pulling Fili close to you, his head resting on your lap. Tears streamed from your eyes as you looked down at his pale form. A large pool of blood surrounded him, staining your pants and knees; but you didn’t care. As you looked down at him, you began to sing again, hoping that your song would somehow heal the wound on his back. But nothing happened. Your heart clenched painfully. You began to shake as you gazed at him helplessly, watching as your song slowly faded away, leaving a dead silence in its wake.
Opening your eyes, you stared down at Fili's glazed-over eyes, your chest tightening, a painful lump forming in the pit of your stomach. Your breath hitched, choking back sobs as you placed your palm against the side of Fili's face. His cheek felt cold against your fingertips, making a whimper escape your lips. Biting your lip harshly, trying to stop yourself from crying, you pulled Fili close to you, placing a gentle kiss on his forehead.
"Please... Don't leave me." You whispered in his ear, and you shut your eyes, letting out a shaky sigh.
Unbeknownst to you, the tears you had shed landed on Fili's cheeks, melting into his skin. And after a quick moment, he let out a faint groan, his eyes flickering open. Your eyes widened at his sudden sound, sitting upright as Fili let out a cough, wincing.
He opened his eyes, gazing up at you through half-closed eyelids. "Y/N?" He rasped. You looked at him, relief flooding over you as he sat up in front of you. You cupped his cheek, leaning forward, and placed a light kiss on his lips.
"You are awake." You breathed. He grinned softly.
"Am I dreaming? Is this real?" Fili asked, gazing intently at you.
"No, you're here. With me. You're alive." You responded, pressing your forehead against his own.
"I'm alive? How?" He asked softly, and you shook your head slightly.
"I do not know." You muttered, "But, I am oh-so glad you are alright." You let out a small laugh of relief.
"Me too, my Y/N." Fili told you, bringing his hands up to cup your face, and then pulling you towards him, kissing you tenderly. You returned the kiss, feeling relieved, and happy to finally have him back in your arms, safe and alive.
~~~
Thankfully, after the battle, Azog was killed by Thorin, and the battle for Erebor was won. Smaug was dead. And everyone, even the rest of the Company survived. You were currently lying beside Fili, who was snoring lightly while you traced circles onto his forearm, smiling slightly. Living in Erebor with your beloved was a dream come true. With help from Gandalf, you had found out about your merpeople. Along with that, you had found out the reason why Fili came back to life. Your tears. Your magic tears. Something you didn't even know about yourself. Which you were beyond grateful for.
You had fallen in love with Fili. He had fallen for you. You both loved each other so much that neither one of you ever felt like you could live without the other. You both were inseparable, never without each other; always be each other’s side. He was everything you needed and ever wanted. You loved him. You truly did.
Fili stirred beside you, opening his eyes and staring sleepily down at you. You reached up, stroking his cheekbone with your thumb, a small smile gracing your features. "Hey, you're finally awake." You commented, brushing some strands of hair away from his face before fidgeting with his courtship braid.
Fili yawned, "How long has it been?"
You shrugged slightly. "Since we went to bed last night." You answered, flicking his mustache braids playfully. "How are you feeling?" You asked curiously.
Fili groaned lightly, reaching his hand up to cup your cheek. "Perfect." He replied, chuckling tiredly, his thumb running soothingly across your cheek. His eyes landed on yours, gazing dreamily.
"Good," You whispered softly. Fili chuckled lightly as he leaned forward, capturing your lips, kissing you passionately, and wrapping his arms around your waist. You smiled into the kiss, tilting your head slightly to deepen it. Pulling apart slightly, you rested your forehead against his. "I love you." You mumbled softly.
"And I, you, my Y/N." Fili smiled, pecking your lips softly.
Voyage into the Unknown Pt.6
Master List Pt.5 - Pt.6 - Pt.7
Many more days pass, riding across fields and forest, through little valleys and rivers, up and down hills, in rain and sun. And during that time, I have only grown closer to Kili. Not forgetting Bilbo, and Fili. Their company is the only thing keeping me sane as the older men continuously thwart any attempt of mine at helping. I feel stir-crazy as the days melt together, with nothing productive to do except talk, ride, and train at sword fight with Fili until dusk.
The company rides up a grassy hill laying at the bottom of a tall cliff-face, large boulders scattered along the way. At the top, the ruins of an abandoned house lay. Thorin rides up to it “We’ll camp her for the night” He says, Gandalf already wandering around, inspecting the house. “Fili, Kili, look after the ponies. Make sure you stay with them” he says to his nephews. Hoping off my horse I hand Kili the reins, and take my pack down “I suppose I won't be training with your brother tonight then” I swing my now very heavy bag on my back. “Well you can always watch the ponies with us, keep us company” I look over at Thorin who seems to be arguing with Gandalf in the ruined house “I’m not sure that he’s in the mood for suggestions right now, plus I think he’d say I’m ‘too distracting’” I mock Thorins’ deeper voice. Kili chuckles “You’re probably right”. “I’m definitely right,” I nod, pursing my lips. “And how do you know that?” he asks, “Because I’m a woman, and I know everything” we laugh together, Kili nodding along until a loud outraged voice interrupts us “Myself, Mr.Baggins!” Gandalf storms past us “I’ve had enough of dwarves for one day” I hear him mutter to himself as he wanders off into the wild. “Come on, Bomber, we’re hungry” Thorin calls over. The company whispers to one another “Where do you think he’s going?” I turn to Kili in concern, “Probably just off for a smoke, maybe a bath” He shrugs, not caring that the powerful being has essentially left us until further notice. Anxiety begins to creep into my mind, making me feel restless. Kili wanders off with his brother taking the ponies with him.
Settling in for the night, Bofur fills up peoples’ bowls with the thick stew. I get up and hop in line for seconds, behind Bomber, who patiently waits for his turn. Bilbo fidgets, walking back and forth “He’s been a long time” He stomps over, “Who?” Bofur asks, “Gandalf” Bilbo stresses, Bofur scoffs “He’s a Wizard. He does as he chooses. Here, do us a favour. Take these to the lads” He hands over two bowls to Bilbo who didn’t really want to help out. Bomber sneaking the ladle for his fourth serving, tries to sip straight out the spoon “Stop it. You’ve had plenty” Bofur chides him, wrestling the ladle from him. “Let him eat if he’s hungry” I say, frowning at Bofur. The two turn to look at me, Bomber smiling under his thick braided beard, and Bofur shaking his head “Don’t start down that road lass, he’ll eat you out of house and home” He wags his finger. I roll my eyes at his antics “He’s not a bottomless pit”. Bofur laughs and whacks Bombers fat belly “He’ll eat a whole cheese wheel and then some lass” the two dwarves laugh, Bomber looking quite proud of himself. “Bullshit” I say, causing the two to chortle louder “Language lass! Bombers appetite is something to behold” he exclaims. I uh huh them, taking the ladle and pouring a scoop into my bowl “I’ll believe it when I see it mate” “Well, maybe one day you’ll have to experience a true dwarvish feast, that’s where the real action happens” He winks and I laugh “I suppose I’ll have to then aye” He nods with a chuckle as I turn away, and walk around the socialising men to find a quiet spot to sit and enjoy my meal.
The wind is nice and cool after a long hot day of horse riding, my legs ache deeply, my heart aching also. Homesickness isn’t something I thought I would be feeling. But here I am, sadly sipping my stew, longing for my daily, or even weekly routine. Opening up the studio in the early morning, working away at my latest collection of paintings until noon, where I would then go and help teach at the local dojo to the juniors class. Some may think my schedule was repetitive or boring, but I really enjoyed the normality and structure. Always buying a vanilla iced chai from the bakery next door, possibly a mini pizza or pasty. Always passing by the same calico street cat, sitting on the town statue down the front most street, waiting for pets or food offerings. I had always thought her name was Fatty or Big Bess, Bessie for short. But I’ve heard other suggestions like Spot or Tiger, or more suitable ones for her weight like Jabba or Big girl.
I sniffle, face heating up at the thought of home. Taking a deep breath to settle my heart, I barely notice Balin walking over “You alright lass?” I jump, his voice surprising me, “Yeah just missing home, you know” I continue to sip on my now cold soup. “Aye I know that feeling well” He sits down on a rock beside me “Sometimes it helps to talk of it” He smiles warmly at me “Tell me about it hay?”. I sigh “I was actually thinking of a fat street cat” I laugh sadly and he chuckles “Not thinking of family?” He jokes. I smile strained at him “No, I don’t have any family left” stir my soup aimlessly. “I’m sorry lass, I didn’t mean anything by it” He apologises quickly “Nah it’s all good mate, they died a long time ago” I stare out over the dark valley, clouds rolling over the hills. “How’d they pass?” He asks quietly, “My mother died of- uh a brain illness, and my father died from- overindulgence in substance” I say before sculling the last of cold stew in one gulp. “I’m sorry lass, sometimes terrible things occur and all we can do is hold out, in hope of a better day” He leans over and pats my shoulder in a very fatherly way, causing my eyes to water “Thank you” I whisper.
The moment of solemn silence between us is broken by two princes rushing through the brush shouting “Thorin! Mountain trolls have snatched the ponies!” they shout alerting the company “Bilbo went ahead to try and release them, we don’t know how long he’ll last” Fear strikes my body ‘Shits’ just gotten real’ I think scared as the men grab their weapons, preparing for a fight ‘What the fuck is a mountain troll?’ I place my hand on my sheathed sword. I've never had to use this in an actual fight before, let alone aim to kill someone. Balin places his hand on mine “Stay here lass, if we don’t return, run like the wind and find Gandalf”. I nod shamefully, knowing I won’t be of much use. As the men march off to battle, the princes leading the way, a deafening silence washes over the camp. My anxiety spiking through the roof, ‘When am I supposed to run?’ ‘Where am I supposed to go’ and most nerve-wracking ‘What if they need help?’ I jitter and buzz with adrenaline, pacing around the camp. “How about I just go and check it out? Yeah, then if they need help I’ll- do- something” I hype myself up. Pulling out my machete from my pack, I jog into the woods, making sure to keep low. A bright glow lights up the forest ‘How did we not notice them?’. I creep up to the light and hide in a bush at the top of the mound, overlooking their camp. In the centre of the clearing a large bonfire is lit, with some of the dwarves spit-roasting over it. Three giant, ugly, ‘mountain trolls’ stand around arguing with Bilbo about how they're going to cook the company, before one of them picks up Bomber and dangles him over his mouth. Sliding on my belly, down the mound and through the brush, I sneak up behind Thorin who lays closest, and grab the rope tying his sack closed. Thorin jumps at the touch before I shush him, working on cutting him free.
“Oh, not that one. He’s infected.” The troll turns to look at him “Huh?” “You what?” they ask outraged. “Yeah, he’s got worms in his- tubes” Bilbo makes something up quickly, and to my surprise the troll toss Bomber back on the pile with a loud “Eww!”. “In fact, they all have. They're infested with parasites. It’s a terrible business and I wouldn't risk it. I really wouldn’t” He tries to convince them.
Their conversation about parasites drift into the background as I focus on cutting though this stupidly thick rope, with my stupidly small pocket knife. Finally cutting it, I pull the cord loose from around Thorin's neck, and attempt to grasp the back of Thorin's shirt and pull him up. However he’s much heavier than I expected, and I struggle to pull him even an inch up into the scrub. “Come here you!” one of the trolls exclaims before I am suddenly lifted up by my leg. “Oi look Tom, look what I've got” He proudly waves me in the air, ragdolling me, to the other trolls. “Put her down!” “Leave the lass alone!” the company shouts angrily. The troll brings me to his face and gives me a long sniff. “Mmmh man-flesh” he says, rancid breath wafting over my face causing me to dry-heave upside-down “And it’s a female” he says excitedly. “Taste better than the males” He raises me high above his face causing me to shout out in fear and wriggle furiously in his grip, kicking and punching his hand “Put me down you fat ugly cunt!” I scream at him causing him to crack up laughing. “Do you ‘ear that Will? This ones’ got fight in it” He shakes me around violently, ceasing my wriggling.
“The dawn will take you all!” Gandalf’s voice bellows over the commotion. “Who’s that?” “No idea.” “Can we eat him too?” the trolls ask before Gandalf strikes the stone he stands on, breaking it in half and allowing the morning light to cascade over the trolls. They retract, groaning in pain as they quickly turn to stone. The company cheers joyfully “Oh, get your foot out of my back” Dwalin complains from the spit-roast. Still hanging upside-down in the dead troll's grip, the blood really begins to rush to my head. “A little help anyone” I mutter weakly as my vision begins to spot. “Just hold on lass we’ll get you down” someone yells.
Eventually, after they had saved themselves, the dwarves managed to get me on the ground again. “You could’ve sustained serious injury, have you no care for yourself?” Thorin hisses as he marches over. Tired and nauseous, I lay flat on the dewy grass, without saying a word in response. I groan in discomfort, being shook around like that has really pulled everything out of place. “Do you have nothing to say for yourself?” He scoffs. “Yeah, I do have something to say actually. Sod off!” I bark back at him before covering my eyes with my arm, a headache slowly creeps up my neck. Balin interrupts Thorin by saying something in Khazdul, causing him to back off in a huff. Thorin then goes to harass Gandalf leaving Balin to tend to my wounds.
Ch 2: A Long Day and Sleepless Night
Balin rode alongside Shail briefing her on each company member.
“Now, you already know of Thorin Oakdensheild. Behind him we have his two nephews, Fili and Kili. They will be the next princes of Erbor once our home is reclaimed.” Balin said with inspiration. The journey had just begun, hopes were high. “Before ourselves are my younger brother, Dwalin, and the fire-starter Gloin. Gloin also…” Balin was about to advise Shail that Gloin handles their finances, but then remembered she is still a stranger. She could rob them that very same night. Balin averted his eyes and continued. “...Gloin starts the fires.” Balin cleared his throat and turned back to point to the elders of the company. “These gentle dwarves do an excellent job keeping our mission organized. The deaf, Oin, acts as our medic and map reader. The mute, Bifur, acts as unruly reinforcement when needed. Don’t be fooled though, he has a kind heart and passion for toy making. Dori is the entire company’s mending specialist. If any of your clothes, sashes, or sacks need a sturdy stitch, feel free to refer to him. Then there is Ori, our scribe. A bright young dwarf that one is. After them is their third brother, Nori.” Balin gestured for Shail to lean towards him for a secret and she abided. He whispered “That lot don’t look much alike, but they are of the same blood on their mother’s side…and do be mindful of Nori’s hands. He’s got, uh, thieving tendencies'' He then continued at a conversational volume. “Besides him is Bofur, the tinker. He also is caretaker of Bifur along with his brother, the company’s cook, Bombur. In the very back, our newest member and official burglar Master Bilbo Baggins. Accompanying him is the great wizard-”
“Gandalf the Gray” Shail finished. She then explained “I know of his legend from a close friend.”
“Then you agree, he is a sorcerer of grand magnitude. Such a power wielder doesn’t assist in just any cause. Our journey is one of great honor.” Shail nodded in agreement. When Balin turned his focus to his reigns, she rolled her eyes at the gloating.
“I suppose… He doesn’t seem so great.” She muttered.
Ori rode two horse lengths behind the she-dwarf. Trying hard to catch just a glimpse of her face for his sketch. Hearing the mention of his name the two made eye contact. Ori's face turned a tint of pink. Shutting his journal abruptly it nearly toppled off his lap. Dori turned to the commotion and helped to stop the book from falling to the ground. "Careful Ori, what have I told you about writing and riding?"
"Sorry, I was starting on a new sketch." Ori answered, fiddling around with the quill. The young artist kept glancing over to Shail, hoping she didn’t notice his fumbling nor the lecture he was receiving. Dori saw his looks and followed Ori’s eyesight, it was to the she-dwarf.
"Oh no, don’t you get yourself involved with that mischief-maker.” Dori lectured, shaking his finger no. Ori blushed at being caught.
“I don’t think it's mischievous behavior! She kind of reminds me of Nori.” Ori tried to convince.
“That's my point. Look at her Ori. Her hair looks like a mouse built its nest in there, leaves and sticks just scattered around." He went on insulting her appearance. "What is with her acting like a feral animal sniffing about? I want you to stay clear unless you're told so. You understand me?" Dori asked, raising a brow. Ori rolled his eyes before giving him a huffed yes.
"I don't understand. Why’d uncle recruit a wild lander? Doesn’t he know how unpredictable they can be?" Kili loudly whispered to his brother. The older brother looked with a deadpan stare.
“You are not whispering as low as you think you are.” Fili sighed then shrugged. He turned back to stretch his back, but was distracted by the decloaking she-dwarf. Although ill-fitting, her mismatched clothes showed off a curvaceous body. Most dwarfish women he saw wore conservative attire, at least two or three layers. Fili was fascinated by the modest clothing clinging to her shape. Shail adjusted her sleeve then looked ahead. The two made eye contact. Embarrassed by being caught staring, the prince pulled on his reins and nearly steered into Kili’s pony.
"Fili! Watch it!" Kili whined. He steadied his own pony then kicked his brother's leg.
"Sorry brother, I got distracted. No need to hit." Fili apologized then kicked Kili back. They began an intense game of footsies while avoiding hitting the ponies.
The brothers’ kicking distracted Shail from her conversation with Balin. "And I think you and I both know we wouldn’t want that, do we? Hehe…” Balin waited for a response, but saw the lass’ attention was elsewhere. He sighed, seeing the young brothers’ antics. “You two alright?” Balin hoped to straighten out their misbehavior without getting Thorin involved.
"What? Oh, yes! Fili’s having a bit of trouble with his reins.” Kili lied while both wore innocent smiles. He landed a kick to the shin. Fili grunted, but held his facade. Balin nodded and the two turned back to face the path ahead. Fili dropped his smile and grumbled. Kili grinned in victory.
“A bit clumsy for one of yer best fighters.” Shail commented to Bailn.
Fili heard the comment and scoffed. First Kili winning their fight now this? He turned back and questioned Shail. “Clumsy? Pfft, it was a little accident is all. What impression have I given you that I'm clumsy?" Fili asked, irritated by her statement.
Shail, smiling at the prince’s amusing temper, elaborated. “Back at my campsite, you fell for my trap. Even woodland critters have the sense to be cautious. Witless, clumsy, easy kills will go for open bait. And you being witless, clumsy, and easy, were caught. No?” She asked, raising her brow.
Fili slowed down riding at her side to defend himself. "I wasn't the only dwarf to get snared."
"That’s true, your highness…princes and kings with no kingdom. Not sure what you’d call that." Shail said lowly to Fili as she looked him in the eyes. Her smile dropped, this statement was no joke to her. Shail certainly rubbed salt into Fili’s wounded pride. He stopped in his tracks in disbelief. Fili had never been so unapologetically disrespected before.
Balin called back as he stayed beside Shail, unaware of what the lass had said. “Keep up lad!”
The company rode until sunset. As the sky became darker, Thorin and his dwarves set up camp. Below the cliff side was the great east road. "Fili, you're on the first watch." Thorin said as he walked around to observe the cliff’s view for dangers. Fili nodded but silently groaned once his uncle walked away. He was annoyed by being picked first, but was not so bothered to get an earful from Thorin about it. Kili snickered at his brother, beginning to unravel his own sleeping sack. While walking past, Thorin snatched the younger prince’s sleeping sack from his hands and added "I don’t see what’s so funny when you’ll be accompanying him, Kili. I want you both to be awake and alert. No mucking around. Understood?" Thorin order.
"Understood sir." Fili answered with a satisfied smile, taking a seat by the fire. Behind Thorin’s back, Kili gave his uncle a side eye before slumping onto the ground. The rest of the dwarves unpacked their belongings to last the night; bedrolls, worn-out pillows, blankets varying in size and comfort. Climbing to higher ground, Shail removed her boots and leather corset to relax after an eventful day. She rummaged through her pack to retrieve a makeshift pillow. It was made from a used potato sack and stuffed with sheeps’ wool. Using it to support herself against a rock, she placed her pack to her side. Most of Shail’s nights were spent sleeping outdoors. She had become accustomed to resting uncomfortably while being prepared to leave at a moment’s notice. She sighed and closed her eyes, they were becoming heavy with tiredness.
"Excuse me. Are you really going to be sleeping up there?” A voice suddenly asked. The question alarmed Shail. She opened her eyes and crawled over with caution to look down and see. Once she saw who was speaking, the she-dwarf groaned. It was Ori. “Mister Dwalin says it's better to stay in a group" He informed out of concern for her.
"Maybe for you townies and your simple minds. Lower to the ground, faster the strike. Higher on the hill, the critters won't bite.” She answered, trying to ignore the annoying pest. Looking down, Ori’s face showed confusion at the rhyme. Shail groaned again. “I'll make it simpler to understand. Up here, it’s harder for the night beast to reach. So I won’t be part of their fifteen course meal.” Ori gulped then turned and yipped. He was spooked at the firewood cracking. Shail laughed at him as she retreated back to her rest area.
Pink in the face from embarrassment, Ori rejoined the group. He took a seat and opened his journal. Dori took the calm opportunity to fiddle with Ori’s braids. “What a mess. This trip certainly is not for the weak. Not sure how we’re going to survive if our hair can’t even last, right Ori?” Dori joked. Ori gave a weak chuckle to appease his older brother’s humor. The younger dwarf wore a frown of shame and hoped none of the company viewed him that way; weak, helpless, needing to be nurtured by his overbearing brother. Oin called for Dori, needing the mender to patch a tear in his medicine bag. Dori assured Ori he’ll be back in a moment. Nori, along with Bofur, sat close by. Both dwarves were working on their wood carving skills. Nori was forging a design into his own smoking pipe. He looked up to make sure Dori was gone. The middle child then averted his attention back to the pipe and spoke aloud to his little brother.
"What was that about?" Nori asked, blowing away the wooden shavings.
Ori covered his mouth and coughed from inhaling the debris. Nori laughed then ceased when his little brother answered shortly "Nothing. Just wanted to ask a question." It was out of Ori’s character to talk back. The scribe’s journal pages were covered in his inconsiderate brother’s shavings so he brushed them off and continued on his sketch. Peeking over, Nori saw a rough sketch of the lass. The thief grinned. With mischievous intent, Nori quickly snatched the book, "Nori!” Ori whined then lowered his voice to not alert Dori. He hissed. “Give that back!"
"Lookie here, nice drawing Ori. Didn’t add much detail yet. You sure this ain't your first time drawing a lass, huh?" He asked. The scribe leaned over to grab his journal back, but failed as Nori held it over the middle braided point of his hair. Quickly, Nori took off Bofur’s hat and shoved it in Ori’s face. With this younger brother being stalled, Nori retreated away to examine the page. "What are these? Notes?” Nori trotted and recited from the text. “Let’s see here. It says ‘Her eyes tell a story. They sparkle like stones of amber in the sunlight'? Aw, how romantic!" He teased. Ori politely gave the hat back to its owner then began to chase Nori. Bofur shook his head with a smile as the brothers concealed their running to not cause a commotion. Ori quietly pleaded for the journal back after many failed attempts to get it. Nori would hold out the book then pull it back when Ori reached for it. The thief would evade his younger brother’s every move with side steps and pivots. Ori tripped over his own feet. As he stood back up, Nori continued to read. "There's more! 'Her skin is the color of a chestnut, complemented by beautiful long raven hair'. Though it does hold a mess of twigs, stones, and leaves, don’t it?" Nori proposed as he caressed his own locks. Bofur chuckled at his friend’s vanity. "Where's the commentary about her body? Haven't gotten to that part yet?" He elbowed Ori playfully, winking over to Bofur. Ori pushed Nori’s elbow which began a small slapping war. Ori still tried to grab his book back while avoiding his groin being hit by Nori’s available hand. "Cute you have a crush. Wouldn't be the first."
"I do not!” Ori blushed and yelled with a voice crack. Both stopped in their tracks and turned to Dori’s direction. The oldest brother was still occupied and didn’t notice their conflict. “I'm just documenting what I see. That’s my job." He said through gritted teeth and crossed his arms in defense. He looked to the ground, getting tired of being picked on.
"Right, didn't see anything written like this about the goats we saw earlier. Unless you've got a back section, you cheeky dwarf." He chuckled, walking behind Ori then past Bofur. "If it's just notes, then I guess showing her what you wrote-"
"Please don't, Nori please." Ori begged as he grabbed Nori’s arm in desperation.
"Come on, it's only notes." He said sarcastically, holding it away. Dori finally came to end the game of keep-away.
"I can't leave you alone for a minute, can I Nori?" Dori said, handing the journal over to Ori. "Quit teasing your brother over who-knows-what and get to bed."
Nori shook his head with a smile of disbelief then huffed when Dori’s expression stayed upset. "It was only a bit of fun." He said, taking a seat by Bofur. Dori shook his head then led Ori to bed. The middle child watched as his two brothers walked away. As it always turns out, there was separation between them and him. This journey was supposed to serve as an opportunity to strengthen their family bond. However, it seemed that Nori would always mess up no matter how hard he tried. Maybe there’s no use, the two might be better off without him after all.
“Lay off the lad, will ya? Doesn’t seem like he’s experienced enough to be lady-charming. Sure as hell doesn’t run in the family”. Bofur joked to ease the mood. Nori smiled, appreciating the change of tone. “Remember that hobbit lass ya tried sweet talkin back in the Shire? I thought she was about to fall over asleep with you yapping so much. And once ya started on your hair, it was over. By Durin, all of the Blue Mountain’s finest stylists would get sick of your braid lecturing.” Nori waved off the teasing to shut Bofur up. The two smoked and conversed a bit longer then both decided they needed to rest for the long day ahead of them. Nori and Bofur went to sleep sitting up, back to back.
Gandalf propped himself up against a tree watching over the company. The wizard knew of the many dangers that could lurk in the night. Goblins crawling out from their burrows to snatch sleeping prey, trolls barging through squishing them into mush, and wolves separating them to make the hunt easier. Now Gandalf had a new danger to worry about; Shail the wildlander. Unsure of what she is capable of, his mind began to wonder. What if she tied them up and ran off with their supplies? What if she snuck nightshade berries into their water canteens, poisoning them with a sip. As each scenario worsened and worsened, the wizard looked to see if the first watch was on their guard. To his disappointment they were not. Fili sat smoking his pipe as Kili worked on crafting new arrows.
Bombur's snoring startled Bilbo out of his slumber. Dusting the dirt from his coat, the hobbit walked over to his pony. He secretly pulled an apple from his pocket to feed her. "Hello, girl. That's a good girl.” Bilbo smiled, rubbing her snout. “Shush. It's our little secret, Myrtle; you must tell no one." he said, feeding her the apple. Hearing a scream in the night Bilbo pranced to Fili and Kili. "What was that?"
"Orcs." Kili answered, looking around. Thorin and Balin, sleeping at a distance from each other, both jerked awake upon hearing the word 'Orcs'.
"Orcs?" Bilbo asked.
"Throat-cutters. There'll be dozens of them out there. The lowlands are crawling with them." Fili answered, emptying his pipe’s ashes.
"They strike in the wee small hours, when everyone's asleep. Quick and quiet; no screams, just lots of blood." Kili added as he looked Bilbo in the eyes. The hobbit looked away in fright; Fili and Kili shared a glance at each other and began holding in laughter.
"You think that's funny? You think a night raid by orcs is a joke?" Thorin scolded the two youngins.
"We didn't mean anything by it." Kili answered shamefully.
"No, you didn't. You know nothing of the world." Thorin said. Before his nephews’ ignorance could further anger him, The king walked to the edge of the cliff and looked out.
"Don't mind him, laddie. Thorin has more cause than most to hate orcs.” Balin walked over to reassure Bilbo. The elder dwarf then told him the origin of Oakenshield. The company slowly woke up to listen to the tale.The hobbit looked at the dwarf king in admiration. With the position of King, Bilbo assumed Thorin’s honor and bravery. In addition, the dwarf has proven, and continues to prove, himself worthy of such a title. The tale did leave for a remaining question.
"But the pale orc? What happened to him?" Bilbo asked, looking between Balin and Gandalf.
"He slunk back into the hole whence he came. That filth died of his wounds long ago." Thorin answered as he returned. Ordered the dwarves to go back to sleep. Balin exchanged a look with Gandalf, knowing the Orc could have survived.
A true home(The hobbit Fanfic)
Chapter 10
Third Pov
It had been a few days since that night. The girls had gotten used to riding with Fili, Kili and Bofur. The boys would tell them stories from their younger days. Turns out they got into a lot of trouble. The other dwarves would tell them their stories and the girls really felt part of the company.
The only ones who were not happy about them coming along were Thorin and Dwalin. They had nothing against the girls, they just feel protective over them and want to ensure their safety not just because they are women but because they are the youngest of the group and dwarves were always protective of the adolescence. They know that they are strong but still worry. Thorin has been very distant with Lilith because she reminds him of his lost love. He feels if he remains distant, the feeling would go away but it just gets worse. He hates not knowing why she has such an effect on him.
It was currently raining and everyone was fed up. They all had their hoods up and followed the path with sombre looks. The girls however had no problem with the rain, in fact they encouraged it. Everyone was fed up at this point.
"Gandalf, can't you do something about this deluge?"
"It is raining, Master Dwarf, and it will continue to rain until the rain is done. If you wish to change the weather of the world, you should find yourself another wizard."
Bilbo looks curious. Renée turns her attention to Gandalf and Bilbo's conversation. Kate and Lilith also stopped what they were doing to listen in on the conversation.
"Are there any?"
"What?"
"Other wizards?"
"There are five of us. The greatest of our order is Saruman the White. Then there are the two blue wizards. You know, I've quite forgotten their names."
"And who is the fifth?"
"Well, that would be Radagast the Brown."
"Is he a great wizard or is he more like you?"
The girls tried to hide their laughter behind their hands but were unsuccessful. Gandalf was slightly offended. Kate then just hit the back of Bilbo's head, making him look at her in disbelief.
"Pops, come on be nice. Those are stuff we think not say." She pauses for a second and turns to Gandalf. "Well, are you?" Renee and Lilith couldn't help it anymore and started laughing like hyenas.
"I think he is a very great wizard in his own way. He's a gentle soul who prefers the company of animals to others."
Eventually the conversation ended. After a few hours Lilith got very fidgety and became insanely bored. Renée picked up on this and turned to her.
"You good lils? Want me to play some music to make you feel better?" Lilith just nodded like a little kid saying yes to candy. Kate just chuckled at her while Renée took out her phone and looked through her playlist. Lilith requested a song. Renée put the speaker on high volume and pressed play.
youtube
Lilith was singing along while Renée just moved her head to the beat and Kate was humming. The others were looking at them with so much confusion. Bilbo just smiled at his daughters having fun. Kate then requested a song. One of the old classics.
Kili and Fili were so enthralled by Renée and Kate. Lilith noticed and smirked at them. Looks like their feelings are mutual. At least she doesn't have to worry about killing them and hiding their bodies. Bofur was interested in how they were able to do that. The girls then explained everything they knew about phones. The others also listened in and asked questions.
"So you can talk to anyone from anywhere at any time with that box in your hand? Amazing." Ori exclaimed with fascination, causing the girls to nod with pride.
"Not just that but you can play music from it and games. You can also take pics as memories from your adventures. It really comes in handy where we're from. We each have one. If you want we can play some more of our music." They all nodded with excitement. Renée then looked through her playlist for something appropriate and fun. She finally found one and pressed play.
youtube
The girls sang the rest of their trip. The others felt a lot better after seeing how happy the girls were. Renée played Whitney, Michael Jackson, James Brown and basically all the classics. The atmosphere changed thanks to the girls and now everyone felt a lot more positive. The Company eventually approached a ruined farmhouse. Thorin scanned the area, before turning to the others.
"We'll camp here for the night. Fili, Kili, look after the ponies. Make sure you stay with them." The group began to dismount. Gandalf wanders into the farmhouse, examining the ruin. The girls huddled together to come up with a plan. They sat away from the group.
"Okay so we need to think of something. We know that there are trolls around these parts but I doubt Thorin's going to listen to us. So we need to put a plan in place. That means girls, we need to come up with some form of distraction. Kate, what do you have in mind?" Renée and Lilith looked at her. Kate started thinking of a good distraction.
"Hmmmmmm. Well we need to wait until they are captured. We can try to keep the trolls busy until Gandalf comes back. But Dad would also need to buy us time. My guess, Thorin's going to make us stay here which gives us a slight advantage. Whatever we do, we need to make sure the others don't find out. Not even Dad."
They nodded and came up with a plan. Meanwhile Thorin and Gandalf were discussing the best move but of course he was stubborn.
"A farmer and his family used to live here."
"Oin, Gloin, get a fire going."
"Right you are". Gloin nodded in agreement, leading his brother into the woods. Gandalf locked eyes with Thorin as he went further into the farmhouse.
"I think it would be wiser to move on. We could make for the Hidden Valley."
"I have told you already, I will not go near that place."
"Why not? The elves could help us! We could get food, rest, advice."
"I do not need their advice."
"We have a map we cannot read; Lord Elrond will help us."
"Help? A dragon attacks Erebor, what help came from the elves? Orcs plunder Moria, desecrate our sacred halls, and the elves looked on and did nothing. You ask me to seek out the very people who betrayed my grandfather, who betrayed my father?
"You are neither of them. I did not give you that map and key for you to hold onto the past."
"I did not know they were yours to keep."
Gandalf scowled at Thorin and turned around, angry with Thorin. He passed Bilbo, tending to the horses. Bilbo seemed confused.
"Everything all right? Gandalf, where are you going?" The girls looked up to see Gandlf stalking away. They tried to call out to him to stop him but no luck.
"To seek the company of the only one around here who's got any sense."
"And who's that?"
"Myself, Mr. Baggins! I've had enough of dwarves for one day."
Thorin stepped out of the farmhouse, glowering after Gandalf. Lilith marched up to him. Renee and Kate didn't even stop her, sending glares his way.
"Come on, Bombur, we're hungry."
Bilbo turned to Balin.
"Is he coming back?"
Not even Blain knew the answer to that, making Bilbo even more worried.
"What the actual fuck is wrong with you? Were you dropped on your head as a baby? Are you so prideful and thick headed that you won't even go to the elves for help? They could help us figure out the fucking map but no, you let your pride and ego get the best of you. You are such a selfish asshole." Thorin stepped closer to her with a glare but that didn't scare Lilith. Renee came up to them while Kate walked to where her father was.
"You have no right to speak to me like that. You understand nothing. You are nothing but a child. You shouldn't even be here." Lilith just glares right back at him. She wasn't scared of him. She's dealt with assholes like him before.
"Do you think I give a fuck? I really don't. I'm not scared of you. I've dealt with enough dipshits like you, I'm practically a pro at this point. You think that just because you are some king, you can speak to me or anyone like that? I don't care if you're a god or deity. I wont let you disrespect people when you don't get your fucking way and act like a child. You think we've had easy lives? No we haven't but you don't see us acting like a toddler who just got his favourite toy taken from them. You're the one who doesn't understand. And we aren't children, We're 23 fucking years old." Lilith looked like she was on the verge of tears but she still stood her ground. Renée put her hand on her shoulder and pulled her away from Thorin.
"Lilith that's enough. He'll realise the decision he's made and he will come to regret it. Go sit down now and cool off." Lilith nodded and walked to find a nice and comfortable place to cool off. Renée then turned back to Thorin.
"I hope you realise that you just put us all in danger. We tried to warn you, Gandalf tried to warn but you are too fucking prideful to listen. So don't say we didn't warn you when things turn south. We aren't your enemies so stop treating us as if we are. We're just trying to help you. Now I'm going to make sure Lilith isn't plotting your murder because knowing her, she most likely is. We won't bother seeing as we're such burdens on your quest so we ask that you don't bother as well. Thank you." Renée was calm the whole time and Kate knew she was very angry.
The entire camp was silent and in shock from Lilith's screaming match. Kate and Renée walked to her and did their best to not let her kill Thorin in his sleep. Everyone just went on like nothing happened but Thorin could not get Lilith's words out of his head. He looked at her and for a split second he thought he saw his lost love, Elanor. When he heard Lilith's words, his heart broke a little and he didn't know why. Even now he doesn't understand why her words can have such an impact on him. He shook his head and went to talk to Dwalin. The rest of the afternoon, everyone except Bilbo stayed clear of the girls. They were afraid they might go off on them. The girls were grateful but didn't say anything. They were mentally preparing themselves for what was to come.
Lilith's POV
After the girls made sure I was okay and ,as Renée so lovingly put it, not planning Thorin's murder. I still felt annoyed. So standing up and going to my bag I brought with me everything I needed. From fresh clothes to snacks to weapons. Mom signed me up for all types of weapon training as well as self defence classes along with Ren and Kate. I sigh.
"Mom, why did you have to leave me? Leave us? I know you haven't actually left us and you are still here with us but it's hard. I miss you. So do the girls but... It's not the same. I know you have been gone for a while now and I guess I should be over it but I'm not."
I muttered not realising Dwalin was making his way towards me. I sigh and take a deep breath in. I turn to the girls and Papa.
"Guys I need to cool off. I'm going into the woods for a bit and do some things. So don't freak if you can't find me. And don't worry its not anything harmful. I'm just going into the woods to collect my thoughts. Girls, you know how to get my attention."
I told them, referring to a code that we used when we needed to get each other's attention. It was a high pitched quick whistle. For some reason we learned Morse code and we incorporated both of them. The girls and Papa nodded and softly smiled at me.
Making sure I had everything I needed in my bag I turned to the rest of the company making sure that they didn't need any help. Looking over our camp I noticed that everything was basically sorted. So turning on my heel I made my way into the woods making sure to stay clear of the directions I knew the trolls to be.
After walking for a little bit I found where I wanted to do some training. So pulling out my bow and knives and some other things I set up a target to practise on and got to work listening to music.
youtube
youtube
After about an hour of this I take a break. I'm not sweating but I am taking shallow breaths. All of a sudden I hear a twig snap and out of instinct I spin around pointing my blade at the attacker's neck.
"Lass, relax it's just me."
I recognise the voice to be Dwalin. Lowering my blade I let out a sigh of relief.
"Master Dwalin. Sorry. You gave me a fright. Thought you were something else. What can I do for you?"
"Some of the others got worried when you didn't come back. I wanted to take a leak and heard noises. So I followed them and saw you training. I must admit I'd hate to be on the receiving end. You were very good, miss Lilith."
At the unexpected compliment from grumpy pants- I mean Dwalin. I smiled feeling prideful. I smiled and said thank you. At this point we both sat down on a rock that was near to where I was training.
As we sat in silence I looked around at my surroundings. I didn't really do that before but I'm glad I am now. I notice that there is a little stream with some fish swimming in it. Around us the trees sheltered us from the wind so everything was still.
"Lassie, I have been thinking. You seem really good with weapons and fighting. How about I help you train? I think we could both use it?"
Dwalin's gruff voice brought me back. Surprised, I turned my head and looked at him with wide eyes. Shocked, I nodded with a smile on my face. Out of nowhere I heard whistling.
Lilith can you come back please. The guys are getting worried and we don't really know Middle Earth outside of The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings.
Okay I am coming now.
"Come one Master Dwalin. The girls are calling us."
With a confused face Dwalin follows me back to our camp.
Chapter 15 Part 2: Checking out the map
Here's the Jehana map. Since this is Ephraim route, we start on the bottom left here.
Moving up, we can see a smattering of enemies, and then a big clump around Caellach in the upper left corner of the map.
The big pyramid-thingy is the now-ruined Jehana castle. Moving to the right along the top of the map, there are a couple guys near the castle. And then down from there, there's a clump of wyverns.
In the bottom right corner, right of our starting position, we have Valter and a metric crap-ton of units nearby him.
Upon starting the map, Eirika, Innes, and Saleh appear.
They appear here, on the other side of the desert from Ephraim's starting position. So one of the early goals of this map is to get at least some units up their way so that they don't overwhelmed. There aren't a lot of enemies around them now, but there will be reinforcements in a bit.
Before playing the map though, here are some key enemies. This berserker to the right of Eirika has a Dragon Axe that he'll drop, which does effective damage against dragon-type enemies.
Here's Caellach. He has a Silver Axe and a Tomahawk, which is a more powerful hand axe, and he carries a Hoplon Guard, which prevents him from taking any critical hits. (If only Ephraim had had this in the last map... *grumble* *grumble*)
Nearby him is a shaman with a droppable Luna Tome. I don't particularly need a Luna Tome, so I might sell it once I get it.
Here's the other boss, Valter, in the lower right. He has a Silver Lance and a Slender Spear, and he carries a Fili Shield, which undoes effective damage to fliers. So shooting him with arrows won't do 3x damage even though he's on a wyvern.
Nearby Valter is this Troubadour with a Berserk Staff that she'll drop.
Also near Valter is this Berserker with a Devil's Axe, which has a (31 - Luck)% chance to hurt the user instead of the enemy.
Also near Valter is this Shaman with an Eclipse Tome, which has 3-10 range and reduces HP by 1/2. It has an absolutely garbage hit rate though.
This guy also has a Guiding Ring, which I wouldn't mind stealing, but I don't want it enough that I'm using up a slot bringing Rennac.
Vanessa alighted next to Lute. She had been relieved of her duty to go ahead and look for enemies, so she wanted to keep her promise.
Lute looked up from the book she was reading on horseback. "Hello," she said. "You are riding Titania, not Lute."
"Hi," Vanessa responded, suddenly feeling self-conscious. The situation their army was in was dire, and she also just wasn't used to engaging in casual conversation while on a mission in front of her fellow soldiers.
But Vanessa thought back to what Moulder had told her, "It's ok to have friends. It's ok to be a person."
Vanessa stroked Titania's neck and looked at Lute. "Yeah, I wanted to make sure Titania got some exercise as well since she hasn't been seeing any action in battles recently."
Lute nodded silently, seemingly satisfied with the answer.
"I was reading about bug species in the Jehana desert. Did you know that there are almost 200 species that have been identified as endemic to the region?" Lute's eyes were wide, and Vanessa could see the excitement in her face.
"Wow," Vanessa said, unsure how to respond. She wasn't terribly knowledgeable or excited about bugs, but she was still happy that Lute wanted to share this with her.
"Also, even though we're not quite in the desert proper yet, I've already noticed that the climate is much drier here, and I'm seeing species that I haven't seen before in Renais, Frelia, or Grado! For instance, I saw a Jehana Flycatcher just a couple of minutes ago! They are birds who prefer dry enviroments, so they are not usually seen outside of Jehana proper, but it is not unheard of for them to come down a little to the south."
"That's neat!" Vanessa responded. "I don't know much about birds, but I definitely have noticed some of the different ones we've seen in different regions. If you see another one, let me know!"
Lute looked at Vanessa's face as she spoke. She had learned from talking to people in her village that most people usually got bored and stopped listening when she talked about interesting things like animals, monsters or spells. She was happy to see that Vanessa appeared to be listening to everything she had to say.
Lute knew from experience that many people were not fans of insects, but she decided to try sharing something with Vanessa. "Well, speaking of new creatures, I actually discovered an entirely new species of insect that was not described in any of my books!" As she spoke, she pulled a small glass jar out of a pocket in her dress and held it out for Vanessa to see.
Vanessa nudged Titania to move closer to Lute's horse and she leaned her body over to peer more closely at the contents of the jar.
"It's really pretty! What a nice emerald color its wings are!"
Lute could feel herself smiling. Vanessa liked the insect! She saw how beautiful it was and didn't call it an icky bug!
"Since it is a new species, I can name it," Lute declared as she tucked the jar back in her pocket. "I am planning to publish my own book of animals after this war is done. I have been taking extensive notes on various creatures I have observed while we have been traveling."
Vanessa smiled at Lute. "What are you going to name it?"
"I'm going to call it an Emerald Wing Dung Beetle!" Lute beamed, "I found it in a pile of pegasus dung when we took that last break!"
Then Lute smirked at Vanessa in a way Vanessa hadn't ever seen before.
"But I also need to give it a scientific name, and since its shade of green is the same color as your hair, and it likes pegasi, I'm going to name it Vanessica Vanessicus!"
Vanessa drew her head back slightly and arched her eyebrows. "You're naming a dung beetle after me!?"
"Heh heh." Lute chuckled, smiling and looking down slightly.
Vanessa rolled her eyes and laughed, "Hah!" She shook her head and looked at Lute, "And what if I say I don't want the whole world knowing me as a dung beetle?"
"Well, I will not insist on it, but it really is a fitting name."
"Hmph. Fine. You win this one. But just wait. I'm going to find a new species of skunk and name it after you some day!"
Lute knew from the context of the conversation that Vanessa was teasing her, but she couldn't help herself. "I would love that, actually!"
Vanessa laughed again and said, "Yeah, you would, wouldn't you? I'll have to think of another way to get my revenge."
Lute put her hand on the pocket with the jar in it. She felt happy knowing that the dung beetle was there. She felt happy that Vanessa liked the name. "It's good to have a friend!" she thought.
Next time: Hurrying to Eirika's rescue!
Deadly Love
Armitage Summer Splash June 3rd
Prompts: Unrequited love & "I did it for you... for us"
RA Character: Thorin Oakenshield (BotFA)
Pairings: Thorin Oakenshield x GN!Dwarf!Reader
Warnings: Angst, mentions of battle, wounds, cutting off limbs, killing things, reader's death
Rating: M
Word Count: 1,831
A/N: This is my first contribution to RASS, as I've nicknamed it - Richard Armitage Summer Splash! Thank you, @lathalea and @fizzyxcustard for making this event
You knew full well that Thorin Oakenshield didn't have it in his heart to love you. He couldn't, the rage and grief of days long passed fueled him upon the journey to Erebor. You knew it well, but you didn't care. Dwarves only loved once, after all. And if a dwarf couldn't wed their One then they would never wed again.
You had fought long and hard with your family to go on the journey, and they relented after you- admittedly- guilt-tripped them. Your skills in the forge as a blacksmith were unparalleled. You had spent your entire childhood there, learning from your father who had passed when you were the young age of fifty-three. Well, young for a dwarf like yourself
You had come along the journey knowing full well that you could never once let your feelings get in the way of your head. And you tried to not let them by surrounding yourself with your family and newfound friends.
Your brother had taught you how to wield a battle axe and hold your own in a fight, but you had extended your knowledge by getting battle lessons.
A journey with such high stakes as this quest is bound to have at least one death, as was estimated by many people in Ered Luin. A quest for death, it was called by a few gossipers. Not many thought it would succeed, the fear of the dragon resting inside the halls great and still coursing through the people.
There had been a few close calls, but luck was on the company's side for a time. It started to dwindle when the mountain was reclaimed. You yourself had thought Thorin strong enough to resist the call of the sickness, of the dragon hoard. But he was not. Even the other dwarves of the company were slightly affected by it, for they would not follow Thorin so aimlessly when he orders them to search hoards upon hoards of treasure for a single over-glorified stone.
You had said your thoughts about it to yourself as you searched, the words unheard and you were thankful they werent.
When battle was preparing, Thorin refused to let you fight.
"You're a weakling, I cannot let a weakling on the battlefield," Thorin spat at you, the words hitting you like bricks and only solidifying the fact that you would never find love.
So, you decided to rush into battle while Thorin was getting over his sickness. The others followed you, your stature and size being built up to look like the gold sickness-riddled king.
Thorin had run out, searching the battle field for his company. He was met with a confused Balin, who frantically rushed up
"Thorin! Why are you here? Didn't you just start riding one riding the goats to catch up with Dwalin and Fili?" Balin yelled over the roar of orcs and dwarves as swords clashed against swords
"No! I was in the mountain, I didn't rush out with you!" Thorin yelled back, thinking his youngest nephew had led the charge as he attempts to find the boy on the battlefield while still battling orcs
"Then who led the..." it clicks for Balin, whose words get lost on his tongue as his eyes find the figures riding battle goats up Ravenhill.
You had led the charge. You rallied the troops. You were the one to give the warriors upon the battlefield the strength to fight, not their true king who they thought you were.
"Y/N led the charge!" Balin screamed to Thorin as he pointed to the hill, Thorin stressing over the lives of his nephews who were also riding up. He jumped on a goat, running after the group of four fiercely
Thorin had many thoughts rushing through his head, worry for his nephews, anger at them, anger at you. Never once did he worry or think about you in a good light, for he hated you in the moment for being so stupid.
Thorin rushed up the mountain, making it in time to be greeted by his sister's sons limping. They had been ordered to retreat by "Thorin" after Fili fell down a cliff after being dropped by Azog.
You had saved him, knowing that he would survive the fall. He had fallen into a ravine before. You had thrown a dagger, the weapon narrowly sticking to Azog's remaining hand.
Fili was going to be alright, you knew when the prince had pulled himself up with the help of Kili after you shouted an order for them to retreat. They protested, but you yelled at them further.
Now, they stand watching their true uncle in confusion. "You... but... what... how?" Kili sputters, looking to Thorin and then behind him where he last saw his "uncle"
"Y/N, they impersonated me," Thorin growls, stomping forward to inspect Fili, whose leg is clearly twisted in the wrong way. He had accepted death as he fell, his relaxation causing his chance of survive to increase
"What?! No... we have to go back, uncle! We have to save them. Azog will kill them!" Kili demands frantically, Fili agreeing between grunts of pain
"No. You will not, Kili. I will handle this on my own. You take your brother and go. Get him help. That's an order," Thorin demands, pushing Kili towards the goats as he runs past with his sword in hand.
He slashes at the orcs he comes across, eventually taking down Azog's spawn, Bolg, with the help of Dwalin. The warrior knew nothing of the impersonation as the pair ran towards the remaining sound of battle.
Bilbo had found them, rushing up to Dwalin and Thorin in confusion
"Thorin, I thought that you-" Bilbo started, only to be cut off by the angry king who gave him a fierce look.
"I did not lead the charge. Y/N impersonated me; treason," Thorin grumbled, Dwalin silently coming to that realization.
"T-treason?!" Bilbo stuttered and spat, "They're out there fighting Azog, Thorin! Putting their life on the line to save Erebor isn't treason, it's the exact opposite of the definition!"
The hobbit huffs and puffs with worry for you, who he had become close friends with.
Thorin goes to speak again when the trip hears an ear-piercing scream. Your scream, they realize as they run towards you.
The group stops on a ledge and are forced to watch.
Your arms shake under the force of Azog's blow, your feet barely to keep you up anymore after you were stabbed through the foot. Your helmet comes off, your hair sticking to the side of your face.
Azog was only angered further as he realized that he did not, in fact, have Thorin Oakenshield but an impostor.
You swing at Azog's remaining arm, your finely sharpened sword cutting through his flesh and bone with ease. You had taken one from the armory to avoid suspicion and not brought your own. Azog roars in rage and in pain, swinging wildly.
You swing back, cutting his modified arm and his neck in one swift motion. The momentum you built up has you falling to the floor, coughing and in pain. You gather enough strength to finish Azog off, impaling him through the chest as three figures rush towards you on the ice.
Bilbo reaches you first, tears in his eyes as he presses his hands to your chest and stomach. You do not know why, but you also do not have the strength to stop him physically
"No... no," Bilbo sobs, Dwalin and Thorin reaching your broken form.
Dwalin's throat bobs at the sight before him, Azog dead and you...
Blood comes from your neck to chest and stomach, the wound you have unfixable. It's too deep. Deep enough to see bone. Deep enough that Bilbo gets up and wretches, Dwalin taking your body to solid land as Thorin stands over Azog.
One final blow is delivered to the corpse, the head of the beast who caused so much heartache to Thorin detaching from its body.
Thorin turns, walking over to you as Bilbo requests your survival. A weak attempt, Thorin knows as he comes to stand over your body. Dwalin kneels beside you, your hand clutched in his. You had gripped him tight and with fear in your eyes, tears blooming in the side of you eyes as you had to suffer through Bilbo's sobs.
Your eyes turn to Thorin, your vision focused enough that you recognize him but unfocused enough that everything else behind him is blurry.
You go to speak, but cant get your voice loud enough. So, Thorin comes by your head. He realized that he was wrong in those few moments he had to watch you fight and now as he has to watch the light slip from your usually bright eyes.
"I know that you..." you gulp, wetting your lips as you try to get your words out. Your words are raspy, but hearable to the three males who surround your dying form
"Would ne...ver lo.... love me the... the way tha..t I... love..." you cough, blood in your mouth as you speak, "you... but... I did this for you... for us..."
Bilbo sobs harder at the confession, Thorin feeling numb and Dwalin feeling like he failed. Dwalin beats himself up about it as they kneel there around you. He could have differentiated between the two people, but he didn't. He clouded his mind and had practically aloud you to rush to your death
"Do..n't bla..me you...rselves... I did this... my...se..lf... tell..." you cough again, Dwalin shushing you as he pushes Thorin out of the way. He runs a hand over your brow, sweeping your hair out of the way of your face softly
"Tell ma.... tell ma I love her. Tell my... siblings... I'm sorry... I'm... so..rry..." you cry, gripping onto Dwalin's hand desperately as Thorin starts to blame himself and the sickness for your death. You had saved his sister's sons, he realizes. You didn't have to, but you did. You didn't have to take on Azog, but you did. And Thorin would have been the one under that blade had he recovered in time and lead the charge
"Bilbo... plant... a tr...ee for me... plea...se..." You request, hand coming to weakly grip Bilbo's as Thorin tells himself to do the same; to plant and grow a tree in Erebor in honor for your sacrifice
"Be... a good... king, Thorin," you request, eyes traveling to the king as Bilbo speaks
"Hey, hey, hold on Y/N... look at the eagles," Bilbo coos, the great eagles who saved their lives earlier in the journey swooping over head.
A beautiful view, you say to yourself as the pain slowly disappears along with your vision. You are subjected to the sobbing of your friends as you try to speak; try to request they stop crying.
But you cannot speak, you cannot move, you cannot do anything.
What a sad fate, you say to yourself as you slip into the peaceful abyss, the sounds of a forge ringing in your ears as light surrounds you, comforting you like the peaceful and comforting feeling of a fire-warmed home....
Here’s the Gigolas OTP questionnaire for my ship headcannon, as I promised (threatened? Lol)
1. What is their love language?
They enjoy teasing and one-uping each other. They are both of the “No one picks on him but me!” mentality.
Very close friends get a pass on this, such as Aragorn, Tauriel, Eowyn and Pippin. But not family. Fili, Kili, Thorin, Gloin and Thranduil get scolded if they say something smart.
2. Who confessed first?
Legolas. I consider his fierce and instantaneous defense of Gimli, against Eomer’s threat of beheading, to be an unconscious declaration of devotion.
Gimli’s shocked expression in that scene is the pinnacle of adorable and a total bonus.
3. Who plans the dates?
Gimli. He loves to plan trips or special occasions, and to share neat stuff he’s encountered.
Legolas prefers to wing it. He does whatever takes his fancy at any given moment. The type to toss a stick in the air and start exploring in whatever direction it was pointing in when it landed.
4. Who is the better driver?
It’s cannon in both the books and movies, that Legolas ‘drives’ and Gimli rides ‘b~tch‘ whenever they ride the same mount lol.
5. Who likes to be the ‘little spoon’?
It seems to be a trend with me, that one part of my OTPs are always considerably shorter than the other, and therefore resigned to be the ‘little spoon’ in this question. 😅🤷🏻♀️😜
In of that, I still think it’s cute to imagine Legolas wrapping his long legs and arms around Gimli and drifting off to sleep like a hug-happy spider with a stout fly.
6. What’s their stand on PDA? (Public Displays of Affection)
Legolas has no reservations when it comes to PDA and loves to embarrass his Dwarf. Also, I think it’s his goal in life to make Aragorn one day role his eyes so hard that they stick that way, or make their fathers choke on a beverage at least once every visit.
Gimli isn’t against PDA, but he’s actually rather shy for a Dwarf. He likes it, but he’ll never initiate it and it makes him blush as red as his hair.
7. Who shows their affections with words?
Gimli. Never mind silver, his tongue is pure Mithril.
Legolas thinks he does a good job of hiding how it affects him but anyone, especially their loved ones, can see his soft smile and downcast eyes.
8. Who shows affection through touch?
Legolas more so than Gimli, but even then he’s not real big on it unless it’s a type of prank as mentioned in question 6. He prefers actions to express his love, see question 14 for elaboration on that.
9. How do they like to initiate intimacy?
Gimli with sincere sweet talking and gifts he crafted himself, or perhaps simply by showing interest in whatever Legolas is doing and tagging along like a puppy. He’s usually content just to be near his Elf, very easy to please.
Legolas does whatever he feels like doing such as stealing kisses or casually playing with Gimli’s hair and/or beard (he pretends to not know any better but is fully aware of how scandalous this is in Dwarrow society). Though, if Gimli is in a vulnerable state, he will ask permission first.
10. Do they have a dream wedding planned?
Legolas is fine without a ceremony. It’s cannon in Professor Tolkien’s works, that Elves consider private vows and/or the act of sex to be a valid marriage bond. But he’s willing to go along with nearly whatever his Dwarf wants.
Gimli absolutely has a wedding planned, a grand one with all their loved ones in attendance and an abundance of ale, food and music. The after party should last for days and end with practically no one remembering most of it if all goes according to his plans. Mostly it’s Dwarrow style but he does have a handful of Elven traditions he is adamant must be honored, to show Legolas he pays attention and his Elf’s happiness is important to him.
11. How do they comfort each other?
Despite what people might think, Legolas is a great listener and has a great deal of common sense when the situation has need. He’s like a grounding presence for Gimli when life gets stormy.
The fact that Gimli is endlessly loyal and brave for his loved ones is canonical a comfort to Legolas. He actually says as much in as many words
“But you comfort me Gimli, I am glad to have you standing nigh, with your stout legs and your hard ax.”
12. What’s an ideal evening for the two of them?
They’re not the type to sit idle for long, for one thing they’re both very important people post-fellowship and if they stay in one spot for too long someone finds them and gives them work to do.
Secondly they both love to explore and learn, so it’s no surprise when they spirit each other off to have their own mini-adventures/field trips.
13. Who’s more playful in bed?
Given the way he conducts himself in his friendships, his chivalrious admiration for Lady Galandriel, and his obvious but low key affection for Legolas, it’s firmly ingrained in my head that Gimli is shy, easily embarrassed and does not love lightly. If he loves you in any way, then you have his whole heart. Pair this with the fact that Professor Tolkien’s Dwarrow are canonically monogamous, and I can’t help but be convinced that Gimli is hard to get going but passionate once you get him started.
Legolas, however, is cocky (pun FULLY intended, thank you very much), energetic, flexible and always up to trying something new. Not to mention he loves to get a rise out of Gimli (boy, the double innuendos are flowing like Mirkwood wine tonight), so I can easily imagine him doing/suggesting some extra kinky stuff just to fluster his Dwarf.
14. Who shows affection through gift giving?
Gimli. He enjoys making things for Legolas to use and/or wear such as arrowheads, tackle and shoes for their horse, or jewelry and belt buckles.
Legolas is more of a ‘acts of service and/or loyalty’ kind of fellow.
15. Who’s the first one up in the morning?
Gimli. Having grown up poor in the Blue Mountains then later living in Erebor, which needed every able set of hands working at all hours to restore it to its former glory, I’m sure his parents instilled in him a firm belief that the day is not to be wasted lounging in bed. Side note, he gives me strong ‘cheerful morning person’ vibes. The kind of guy who rises early and cooks a fantastic breakfast while singing a jaunty tune and wakes you with a sincere “Good morning my love! It’s a beautiful day!” leaving you struggling to decide weather to murder him or love him all the more.
Meanwhile Legolas, while certainly not lazy, is still a Prince and gives me the impression that waking him before the sun’s properly visible invites bodily harm.😅 I can easily see him trying to drag Gimli back to bed for sleepy morning cuddles allowing them to ease into their day.
16. Were they friends before they were lovers?
Again, like Bilbo and Thorin, I have to answer both yes and no. They run the full gauntlet of rivals to friends to lovers. Though the animosity between Legolas and Gimli didn’t last nearly as long as the one between the couple that came before them. I attribute this to Gimli winning Legolas’ respect quicker, due to his brash yet pure hearted approach to their quest and life in general.
17. Who’s the better singer?
Nether, they’re both $£¥% for singing lol! I refuse to believe everyone on Middle Earth is a good singer, by law of averages someone has to suck at it and since they’re both so good at so many other things, I decided in my head cannon they’re both terrible singers lol.🙅🏻♀️🎵😖👂
18. Who has the best jokes?
Traditionally speaking, Gimli. He has a wealth of antidotes ranging from suitable for all ages to some only to be spoken in dark corner booths of pubs with no ladies present lol.
Meanwhile, if you want zingers to flatten egos, Legolas is your guy.
19. Who’s the better cook?
Gimli. With Hobbits in the family and his own mother to teach him good, hearty Dwarrow recipes, Gimli enjoys cooking and is rather good at it (though he’ll readily admit, he can’t compare to cousin-in-law Bilbo and friend Bombur, they are fantastic).
Legolas is a Prince and never had to cook a day in his life, thus he’s comically bad at it. He can hunt and fish, and is more than willing and skilled enough to dress his kills and clean the fish, but to turn the fruits of his labor into an edible, let alone delectable, meal takes a different skill set entirely.
20. What is their stance on having kids?
Gimli loves them, of any/all races, he has a knack for parenting and would adopt his own mini-army if he had the time to take care of them.
With Legolas, it depends on the child. As a general rule he likes them and if he forms a bond with them, it’s like he transforms into a mischievous kid himself lol! He’s the bad influence parent.
Fallen in the River
Word Count: 1,101
AN: This is the first story I’ve ever posted for others to read, so if anyone reads it please give me some feedback. Good and bad, I would like to get a get some opinions on my current writing skills. And if there is demand for a part two I would like to know. Enjoy the story.
Pairing: Company x GN Reader (platonic)
Summary: (y/n), a human from another world, finds themself within the famous children's story The Hobbit becoming a member of the Company of Thorin Oakensheild. One night after a long ride the Company set up camp in a cave to shield themselves from the never ending rain. (y/n) follows after the two princes and the hobbit to speak with them when they are all given a good scare.
Warnings: Injured reader
--------------------------------
Honestly, (y/n) wasn't sure how exactly they ended up in their current predicament. Sitting on the bank of an angry river in the middle of nowhere, during a harsh downpour. They sat in the mud, completely soaked and shivering; they hugged themself close, and hissed when they felt the growing burning pain in their forearms. While they were still in the water the current brought a dead log right into their path. In order to keep themself conscious, they had to bring their arms up above their head to take the brunt of the hit before they went under. Their right foot was missing it’s boot, which made them considerably colder than they already were. Plus, they were crestfallen over the loss of such loved footwear. (y/n) really loved those boots.
After sitting there for an unknown amount of time, (y/n) hauled themself up and began limping back towards the camp. They didn't give any thought to an explanation to give the company upon her return; Their mind was too scattered. (y/n) couldn't think straight as they tried to recall what had happened. When they fell into the river, the ground had crumbled beneath their feet, and they tumbled into their near-watery demise. Fili and Kili had been there, along with Bilbo, who had let out quite a scream at their fall. They must be worried sick. (y/n) found themself becoming increasingly more exhausted the longer they walked. How far had the river carried them? Soon their thoughts weren’t more than just incoherent blurs in their head.
When they arrived at the mouth of the cave, their teeth chattered loudly, and they rubbed their hands up and down the sides of their arms. When (y/n) came into view, several figures stood and quickly came to their aid, not that they were really willing to accept it. They brushed past them, heading straight for their bag on a mission to get out of their wet clothes and into relatively dry ones. They didn't even notice that several members of the company were missing. Pulling out a set of new clothes, someone approached them and placed a warm hand on their shoulder.
“(Lass/Lad), you alright?” It was Bofur, his voice was soft and full of concern.
“Tell everyone to turn around.” They avoided his question. ‘Please.”
“What?”
“Tell everyone to turn around. I’m gonna change.” They didn't even give him time before they started pulling their shirt off over their head.
Bofur sputtered and spun on his heel with his hands slapped over his eyes. The others soon followed, and (y/n) heard several surprised mutters in Khuzdul, but paid them no mind. They continued on, their pants following their shirt to the ground; they stripped down to nothing. The chill air blew over their naked skin, making a violent shiver run down their spine, and they quickly pulled on the second set of clothes. After they were fully clothed they walked past a few turned heads and sat themself as close to the fire as they could with her blanket slung over their shoulders.
“You can open your eyes now.” (y/n) teased.
“(Lass/Lad),” This time it was Balin who addressed them, and they hummed in response as they warmed her hands over the fire. “Are you alright?”
(y/n) was quick to answer, “Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’m good.”
“Are you sure? How about you let Oin l give you a good once over?” His voice was firm.
“Bilbo came running in nearly twenty minutes ago, screaming about how you’d fallen in the river.” Dwalin spoke up to reinforce his brother's suggestion. “Thorin and them are still out there look’n for ya.”
After he mentioned it (y/n) looked around and noticed that he was right. Thorin, Fili, Kili, and Bilbo were all missing from the cave. They chewed on their lip unconsciously, thinking about how worried they must be, how worried they all had been before their unforeseen reappearance. Where were they now? How far had they gone? They thought about getting up to go get them themself but ultimately decided against it due to their freezing and battered state. (y/n) pursed their lips then looked up to Dwalin.
“Shouldn't someone go find them? It’s still raining.”
“Aye, I’ll go tell them your back alive.” And with that Dwalin nodded towards Balin, and made his way out of the mouth of the cave.
(y/n) watched him leave when another violent shiver racked their body. A large warm hand placed itself gently onto their cheek almost making them sigh, but they didn't resist slightly leaning into the touch. Bifur had moved to their side with a very concerned crease in his brow. He spoke something to Balin and removed his hand - much to their dislike - to make a few hand signals. The older dwarf nodded and took a few steps closer.
“I do believe it would be in your best interest to allow Oin to look you over, Bifur says your freezing.” He paused, thinking, “You took a hard fall, (lass/lad). It also wouldn't be wrong to assume you may be injured.”
“I guess there's no harm in it.” (y/n) gave in.
Balin waved Oin, who grabbed his medical bag, grunting as he pulled himself to his feet. (y/n) had to turn their back to the fire to face Oin as he sat before them, feeling their skin with his bare hand. They showed him their arms to which he shook his head and muttered something under his breath, before bandaging them up. The bandages went from just below their elbow to just before their wrists. It felt odd to have their arms wrapped up the way they were but never once did they say anything opting to allow Oin to do his thing.
At one point their foot was in his grasp where he found a gash about four or five inches long on the back of their calf where a rock had caught their leg and stolen their boot. It was slightly deep so he had to stitch it close before wrapping a bandage around it too.
By the time he finished, Dwalin returned with the last members of the company hot on his heels.
Thorin x Y/n Part 2
I woke up to the sound of dwarves leaving Mr. Baggins’s home. Looking down for the roof I see them begin to head out of town. Thorin was leading the group. “Damn he looks fine as hell,” I whispered to myself as I got from my grass bed and grabbed my bag from the front porch. I ran after them and ahead of them as they stopped for some supplies in town. I had left my mount on the outskirts of the shire because she usually scared people. You see when I was young I found a moth with a broken wing and it turns out that it was not a moth at all. But what Gandalf calls “An unimaginable trickster of many faces.”
This moth, in other words, was a shapeshifter so we became friends over the years and now he usually played the part of my mount. His favorite form to keep is a moth, explaining why I found him the way I did. But because of this, my mount is a giant moth or a moth-looking horse.
“Dau’atz” I called out when l got into the woods that surrounded the shire. I hear load flapping before I see him. Smiling I reach up towards him smiling. When he gets closer to me he gets smaller and smaller so that he can sit comfortably on my shoulder or in my hair. We had agreed it would be better if the company don’t know about him. I hear the footsteps of horses and the idle chatter of dwarves before I see them. I walked out in front of the company and happened to trip directly in front of Thorin’s pony. This was definitely not planned. (o。o;)
So that I could say “well look at that it seems like I really am falling for you.” In my defense, I did get a better reaction than I thought I would get. He still scowled BUT I think he also blushed a little. Maybe...
whatever.
Kili and Fili who had heard what I said burst out laughing. I smiled as I got up from the ground and walked over to my horse that Gandalf had been dragging along beside his. He gave me an annoyed look once I was up on the horse. “must you always act like a child?” (≖_≖ ) I shrugged at him and continued to ride along with the rest of the group. Fili and Kili road up on either side of me and smiled at each other before stating.
“So you like Uncle.” ( ͡≖ ͜ʖ ͡≖) Thorin had clearly heard them because his back went rigid and all three of us noticed. I smirked at both of them before loudly saying.
“I MEAN WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE.” I gestured in front of me at him and continued. “COLD, BROODING, PROBABLY HATES ME. THIS IS TRUE ROMANCE RIGHT HERE.” It was really hard to keep a straight face through this especially when Kili added in.
“DON’T WORRY Y/N I AM SURE HE WILL WARM UP TO YOU EVENTUALLY. IN THE MEANTIME WE CAN JUST CALL YOU AUNTIE.” This was when we lost all composure losing it laughing. Most if not all the other dwarves laughed along and those who didn’t at least gave a small chuckle only to make things worse Thorin spun around in his saddle, face red, pointing directly at Kili and boomed “YOU WILL DO NO SUCH THING.”
Raising his hands in surrender he said “ Alright, Alright. but I think Auntie should have a say in it.” This man practically growled and glared at me. “Don’t be mad at me.” ٩(⊙‿⊙)۶
We continued to ride for a little while until we heard Mr. Baggins’s voice yelling. “wait, wait, I signed it. I signed it!” He ran towards us holding a contract (I assume they gave him) over his head. Handing the contract to Balin who looked at it overseeing that everything was in order. I looked over at Thorin and he looks even angrier than before.
We continued down the small forest path leading up away from the shire. Dau’atz began to flutter around my head. Board out of his mind.
“Y/n” He whined, “You didn’t tell me this trip would take so loooonnnnng.”
“Dau we have been on the road for maybe an hour we have like months more of traveling to do so get used to it.”
“but this form is so small.” (≖_≖ )
I gave small laugh drawing Thorin’s attention I gave him a small smile before turning back to the moth (Dau’atz) “look what you did now he thinks I am a weirdo”
End of Part 2
Whenever Y/n is talking to Dau’atz while he is in a moth form big or small she is using the moth language Gandalf speaks in. In the Movie
