As a giver my whole life, I have now found myself on the opposite side. My daughter and I have been through so much.. My husband, Avas father, is back in jail facing prison. His actions of DV on us is why he is there. I'm really not one to put my business out in the open because I just don't agree with judging or hatefulness. But as a single mom working 5 side jobs and raising my daughter Intermonks all of them, I'm just not making enough to keep our home, let alone diapers and wipes.. I know I'm not a failure, and I made the decision to keep my daughter safe. She's my absolute world, and there's nothing I wouldn't do for her. I'm not asking for sympathy, so please don't think, oh, just another someone looking for a hand out.. My friend made a gofund me to try and help us out. It was a very kind gesture she didn't have to do. I don't want to lose our home. My daughter needs her home. She doesn't deserve to be going through this. No DV survivors should have to face these struggles alone. I will keep doing my very best day after day to provide for Ava and myself. If anyone would like to donate, I will provide the link below. As a white person living in Canada and one of the safest cities in Canada at that, I will never be able to comprehend the struggles black people face in their everyday lives. All of this pent up anger for the fallen innocent is to say the least, understandable. Please try to do what you can. The smallest things count because we must love and support one another and do what we can to bring awareness to racism and what damage it causes. This is one way of showing it. Having a black husband/boyfriend/spouse DOES NOT MEAN YOU SUPPORT BLM. If you’re staying silent and thinking “I’m in a interracial relationship tho”.. YOU ARE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THE ISSUE.

Why are you not angry about our brothers and sisters getting killed and hurt? Why are you not standing up for our people? Why do you think that just because you’re with a black person it makes you automatically THINK you’re part of the movement?

I’m tired of seeing people use the “I’m with a colored person” card.

Manipulators always underestimate us

For once, their monstrous ego tells them to do so. Their ego which has taken the whole place, where before there was a heart and a conscience. Their ego whispering in their ear that they deserve the best. And more. And more. And more... Their ego convincing them that they are part of an elite of predators who shouldn't bow to the common rules, an elite created to enable them to raise in society. A-list, power couple... And they believe it...

And they believe that we, empathetic people are limited by our principles and deserve to be eaten. Principles make us dumb, they believe. Sensitivity makes us weak, they think.

And they are so wrong.

Yes, we have this reflexive projection to give others a heart and we excuse them for emotions that in fact they don’t have. And yes, our emotions can sink us, in this world darker and darker which in which it’s so difficult for us to fit.

But more and more of us get up. And more and more will fight.

We are not idiots. We chose to be temporarily blind because we loved him or her. We loved you, when you were only a marketing creation you imagined to seduce us. When “you” doesn’t even exist. But one day, we see.

And then, my manipulative friend, you can see you underestimated the power of love and the might of our principles. Because we are able to sacrifice everything for them when you are limited by this self-obsession and your survival.

The power of love ? Of this mother who runs towards the tsunami to save her child. Of this man or this woman who loves his/her country and will fight for it. The love for someone, an ideal, a love so important we can risk it all.

They can’t understand that when they only care for themselves. Our emotions are our strength.

Article Review of: “Women’s Brains”

In an article titled “Women’s Brains”, the author Stephen Gould, emphasizes on how scientific research has been used to diminish woman’s bodies and mental state since the 17th century. The article mostly focuses on Paul Broca, a professor of clinical surgery that worked for the Faculty of Medicine in Paris,  and his research on human brains. Broca concluded that the size of a person’s brain was what told us how intelligent this person was, and that men’s brains were bigger than women’s, then stating that men were smarter than women. Broca admitted that his research would most likely bring more oppression to women at the time but that his discoveries were the truth.

With the data that Broca had collected from this new discovery, a colleague named Gustave Le Bon published literature that was extremely oppressing to women including the notion that women “were closer to children or savages, then adults”, which really only put a higher level of prejudice against women.  

After continuing his research with skulls from a cave time period, him and his coworkers realized that women’s brain in this time period were way closer to men’s brain size but, they decided to push off this data concluding that it was only because of a difference in evolution. Stephen Gould argues that Broca’s research shouldn’t be dismissed because of a prejudice made against women, which was a normal way of thinking for this time period. Stephen believes that Broca’s numbers and data collection was actually accurate, he didn’t have enough data really to support his conclusion, for example Broca had only done data collection with 13 cave skulls and when collecting data about brain size, he only mostly used elderly women to compare to, instead of all age women.

 I think that if everyone made an effort to closely analyze their everyday sub conscious prejudice, there would be a lot less hurt people in our world : )

For those of you non-vegans that are annoyed at the advocacy of veganism, I just wanna say something.. if you had loved ones in a state of unnecessary suffering, & you knew you could use your voice to get through to people, wouldn't you do everything you could to try and save them? Or would you simply just give up your power and just simply hope things are gonna change? If you had the power to make change with your actions and voice, why wouldn't you do everything you were able? Or what if you were in the position of suffering? Wouldn't you want the ones that loved you to try and do all that they could to fight for your freedom? Or would you be okay with them ignoring your suffering while they live their lives in freedom? It's all about being more compassionate and realizing our fellow sentient beings are no different to us when it comes to wanting to live and live freely on this abundant planet we were gifted with. At the core, we ALL value love, life, freedom, unity & connection, but the only difference with vegans is that their actions actually align with those core values.
