I have faced gender-based discrimination at every stage of life. Whether being the second daughter to my father or doing activities that are known to be masculine. My parents have been constantly criticized and pitied upon because they have only two daughters. Even after my birth one of my relatives suggested that my parents should try for a third child. My parents always shielded me and my older sister from this nonsense. As I got older I started to realize that I and my sister both of us were considered a burden on our parents, although our parents never saw us as a burden society made it look like that we are.
When I was in high school, I started my rifle shooting training and won 2 gold medals in district-level competition. my parents were more than happy, they told many of our relatives about my achievement, some of them were happy as I was the first person to ever won a gold medal in sports competition but some were not happy as my achievement should them  that  I am capable of achieving anything as their sons.
All my life one question has always stumble upon my mind is that why my parents were Discriminated for not having a son, Does it have to do with the fact that( in Hinduism) parents won’t get Moksha (eternal peace) after their death because they did not have a son to do their last rites and rituals? Or is it about the expenses my parents have to endure during mine and my sister’s wedding or when they are old there will be no one to take care of them.
Why people don’t think that daughters are capable enough to take care of their parents in old age and take up their own expenses. I know that I will be capable enough to take care of my parents and my parents know it too because they have made me capable enough to do so. My parents gave me and my sister enough space to grow and become our own person who can speak their minds freely without any fear or hesitation and for that I’m thankful. I am thankful that my parents never taught me and my sister that we cannot do anything or achieve because we are girls.

I find it incredibly appalling how we are in the 21st century and still dealing with issues like racism. When will humanity learn ? How many more people need to be killed for us to realise that everyone is the same. Everyone was born to be equal. And more importantly everyone was born to be human. To live freely and to the fullest. How can you excpect humanity to prosper and advance if the people that are meant to keep us safe put us in more danger? Everyone is supposedly fighting for equality but when the time comes people turn a blind eye. That’s not how things are supposed to be! People should be equal! They should be free! And they should live in a world, a country where they can have both! Fight for it! Fight for those people! Fight for the mother that is afraid to let her child walk down the street praying that they’ll be fine ! Fight for the father afraid to let his child go out at night because he may not return! This is not the world we should be living in! This is not the world that i want to be living in! RAISE YOUR VOICE AND FIGHT FOR THIS ! RAISE YOUR VOICE FOR THE PEOPLE THAT DO NOT HAVE A VOICE! Be heard be brave and fight this!

Artists all over the world observe #BlackOutTuesday today, to show their solidarity to the community.
Tumblr media
Following the death of George Floyd, the Hollywood music industry announced that on June 2 it will stand in support of the protestors who are condemning the death of Floyd at the hands of the police. The Blackout demands that for a day, the show must be paused. Several event organizers, artists and others associated with the industry have requested businesses and companies not to conduct business as usual on this day. The movement asks everyone to pause think about how to support the Black community, while also working with communities to fight racial inequality. Following the call, several music artists, recording labels in India and all over the world showed their support, with many posting messages of support and announcing their decisions to donate to the affected communities. #binge #bingedaily #blacklivesmatter #theshowmustbepaused #blackouttuesday #endracism #georgefloyd #Equality #fightRacism #FightDiscrimination

Because I'm a fan of Hulu's (admittedly terrifying) 'A Handmaid's Tale', and think that Margaret Atwood is a living legend, I've been watching the Hulu series in its second season. *SPOILER* I did this little painting after watching June's descent to madness, after she blames herself for murders committed by Gilead when she tried to run to Canada: 'the true North, strong and free'. 🍁 #AHandmaidstale #handmaidsonHulu #margaretatwood #freedomfromfear #freewomenbodies #feminismforever #womenriseup #fightdiscrimination #befreewomen #womenwhorunwithwolves https://ift.tt/30HBurD
