I wanted to ask, what do you of Jason as a Black Rose duelist? It’s not creepy to look at my blog, it’s there to be looked through, no worries! I definitely know other people who like both Robins (Jason included) and Utena, though it truly is a very specific intersection of tastes.

Jason would be a pretty tragic duelist! I like the idea of Robins (and Batgirls? though if Cass got black rose’d everyone would be screwed) as Black Rose Duelists in general (though yeah, Utena doesn’t deserve to be lumped in with Bruce, ouch). All of them are messes who are VERY desperate for approval and purpose and thus primed to be emotionally manipulated.

 I’m imagining Damian taking Tsuwabuki’s place as token ‘weird small child with two swords’ of the group and it’s a pretty terrifying thought, there would be...SO much more actual stabbing. He’d be a little whirling dervish of destruction.

Some more Gladstone sketches. Been in a very nostalgic mood lately, and Secret Gardener Gladstone is forever a beloved side of our favorite lucky goose. Since different comic artists draw his beak differently, I can’t decide which design I like best, but I tend to gravitate towards the one that looks like Donald’s beak - but flatter. It’s easier to draw, I guess. I could never be sure about the angle when I’m trying to draw him with the flat, pointed design we see often even though I love that look, too. Rally Sweden 2022 A-Z - Part 1

It's almost time to kick off this years Rally Sweden, so we have rounded up a few facts and interesting Swedish tidbits - a veritable Smörgåsbord of information for you to gorge yourself on.

A

Andersson’s – the Rally Sweden entry list will give us a twofer on Swedish Andersson’s – tattoo loving, part-time male model, co-driver to Gus Greensmith, Jonas and two-time JWRC winner Per-Gunnar.

A natural talent in front of the camera and behind the notes.

Alska - 'to love' in Swedish. We definitely 'alska' Rally Sweden.

Aurora – it won’t only be the Lazer Lamps of the cars lighting up the night sky, there’s a good chance of the Northern Lights putting on a show.

B

Blondes - it's a Swedish stereotype for a reason. Gus Greensmith will feel right at home amongst his fellow natural blondes.

Bertelli, Lorenzo – swapping his F*ckmatie Fiesta for a Puma, Prada employee Bertelli will take a few day’s annual leave from the fashion house to make his first appearance in 2022.

Edit: his boss wouldn't authorise his annual leave so he has to work instead of coming out to play.

No time off and I have to go and hang around hundreds of models at Milan Fashion week - it's a hard life.

Banks, Snow – the move up north means guaranteed snow and with that come snowbanks! Once again, the boys will be bumping their booties off these snowy hillocks to aid their turns, unless the snowbanks bite back and they end up disappearing into them, like some Inuit igloo garage.

The wild snow bank gets hold of cars and drags them back into their lair.

C

Coffee – the other alternative fuel of the WRC, the Championship could not run without it. Take it away and you’d be left with only teaboy, Craig Breen, running through the stages, everyone else would be back at the service park curled up, half asleep with massive caffeine withdrawal headaches.

Celsius – The mercury might dip as low as -12⁰C in Umeå and its thanks to Anders Celsius that we can measure this. Astronomer, physicist, mathematician and all-round general smarty Swede, Celsius came up with the temperature scale, replacing the previous scale of cold/bloody cold/feckin’ freezing.

D

Duktig – Swedish for being good at something/talented. Plenty of that Duktig around the service park.

Dynamite – another erudite Swede, Alfred Nobel, gave the world dynamite, but on witnessing Wile. E. Coyote’s misuse, felt guilty and invented the Nobel Peace Prize.

E

EV Mode – the WRC’s new wonder technology caused the FIA a few headaches in Monte Carlo when they had to start investigating multiple drivers for not flipping the switch and going all electric when they were in the EV zones.

Elk – a popular site in the Swedish woods and sometimes on the stages. We just don’t want to see one getting chased down by a Puma.

F

Fika - it’s not just the WRC’s cast and crew who love their coffee; the Swede’s are such big fans that they have a word for a coffee and cake break, ‘fika’. Breaks are built into the work day and it is ingrained in their culture.

Fart & Farthinder – this will be a high fart event, with no farthinder slowing crews down. Speed and speed bump to our Viking friends.

G

Gift - means both 'married' and 'poison' in Swedish. Interesting.

Greta Thunberg – wee Greta must be so proud of the WRC, going all environmentally friendly, saving the planet one rally at a time, as green as the trees that the cars plough into when they run off the road. I’m sure she’ll be out on the stages of her home rally, cheering on the cars, placard in hand – she’s good at a catchy placard is our Greta.

Hybrid – manufacturers have rocked down to electric avenue at the FIA’s instruction, chucking the Energizer bunny in the car – or a 100kw electric motor, alongside a 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine. As the first outing in Monte Carlo showed, these beasts have still got major bite, the speed is blistering and the roar is definitely still there sound wise, albeit a little different.

The Energizer bunny looks a little different than I remember.

I

IKEA - the worlds favourite Swedish furniture store, they should set up a stage through one - might take a few hours to get round though, probably never see a few of the cars again as they are lost forever in the windowless labyrinth.

J

Junior WRC - Sweden sees the return of the JWRC with 8 crews competing. Last years victor, Sami Pajari, decided to stick around and repeat a year of JWRC school so he can kick some ass again but this time in a 4 wheel-drive car.

Remember your 'mirror, signal, manouver' Sami.

Julmust – this skandi soft drink outsells Coca-Cola in Sweden in the run up to Christmas. Apparently, it tastes like a mixture of cola and root beer. Chuck some pumpkin spice in it and you might be able to flog it in the UK.

Kalle Rovanpera – with the two old-timer, part-timer Sebastien’s sitting in 1st and 2nd in the championship, and choosing not to take part in Rally Sweden, this leaves 3rd place little Kalle to perform the job of snow plough, going 1st on the road.

Lagom - not too much, not too little but just right - that's 'lagom'.

Lynx – these tufty-eared, tigers of the north can be found across Sweden. Let’s hope they stay well hidden and we don’t see any Puma vs Lynx battles on the stages - there’s only room for one big cat out there boys and girls.

M

McDonalds – surprisingly Sweden has the highest number of restaurants per capita.

Marcus Gronholm - the 2x WRC champion has been on the top step of the podium 5 times at Rally Sweden with his last win back in 2007.

Still the boss.

Miles - the crews will cover 303.74 competitive miles over 19 stages.

Usually that would have meant something in the order of fire and explosion and probably at least one gunshot wound, but for once (as Tim said, sourly), it wasn't actually Jason's fault.

I recced it before, but this is ultimate Robin meets another Robin via time travel story in Batman fandom. Because it’s, like, every Robin at the same time except Duke (alas).

concerning that post, i agree that the post death retcons might've added to this trend in fics(which i hate btw) Post resurrection didnt help either,thers an interview that Winick gave where he stated that Dick hated Jason, I remember raising an eyebrow about that. Shouldnt Dick have more complicated feelings than just hate? That lack of nuance made everyone seem bizarre and cruel. I feel like I wouldnt treat my own sister like that, but thats the writers fault never the characters.

This is an unpopular opinion in Jasondom, but I don't like Winicks comic writing. It seems he always finds the need to inject that artificial edge in that's made the majority of comics so annoying the more I read them. He's a good enough writer when he's working on kids stuff, so I don't get why he couldn't do the same for his comics, but whatever.

To be fair to Dick, he's fictional, and NO ONE post crisis was allowed to have any nuanced feelings regarding Jason and his return, everyone other than Donna hated him from the moment he came back, and Donna was only allowed to like him for a while when they were starting up his redemption arc, buuuut then Morrison's bullshit came along and she did a sudden one eighty.

They're all characters who were under an editor who didn't understand comics and made horrible decision regarding how much he was going to let his favourite employees mess them up, so we just have to find those inconsistencies in the characters ourselves and pick out the things that actually make sense.

FITO PAEZ presenta “LA CONQUISTA DEL ESPACIO” su nuevo álbum

El artista rosarino celebrará hoy su cumpleaños número 57 con el lanzamiento del nuevo álbum “La conquista del espacio”. “La conquista del espacio”, grabado en Capitol Studio (Hollywood), Ocean Way Nashville Studio (Nashville) e Igloo Music (Burbank), cuenta con nueve canciones inéditas, todas compuestas por Fito excepto “Ey, You!” (Paez – Hernán “Mala Fama” Coronel). La producción artística estuvo a cargo de Fito Paez, Diego Olivero y Gustavo Borner. Además de los músicos de su banda, Diego Olivero, Juani Agüeroy Juan Absatz, el álbum cuenta con el retorno del histórico bajista Guillermo Vadalá (quien participó en nueve discos de Fito entre ellos el multipremiado “El amor después del amor”) y el reconocido baterista californiano Abraham Laboriel Jr. (Paul McCartney, Sting). También hay músicos invitados: Juanes, Lali, María Campos, Ca7riel, Franco Saglietti, Mateo Sujatovich, Hernán “Mala Fama” Coronel y Nacho Godoy. La orquestación y dirección de la Nashville Music Scoring Orchestra fue realizada por Ezequiel Silverstein,con arreglos de cuerdas del propio Fito Paez. Con fotografías de Val & Musso, la dirección de arte y diseño es de Rompo & Pippa. El Tour de La Conquista del espacio recorrerá en 2020 Europa, Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica. TRACK BY TRACK (contado por Fito) LA CONQUISTA DEL ESPACIO “Este álbum nació incorrecto, está lleno de contradicciones, no hay nada a favor de ningún progresismo, solo hablo a favor de la libertad y que en el centro del caos vive el corazón de la fiesta”. 1-La conquista del espacio: “Todo arrancó en un enero en Córdoba donde grabé algunas cápsulas, ideas y demos. Luego de unos meses, en otra ciudad, esta vez en Trancoso (Brasil), vuelvo a escuchar todo y se empieza a hacer la 'salsa'. Junto a Diego Olivero nos metimos en cada 'germen' para desmenuzar ese material. Luego en Buenos Aires, sobre la estructura se pensó en las cuerdas que determinó que eso era una canción épica, con un texto épico, contando algo hermoso sobre el momento que vivimos y esa cápsula se convertiría en una cápsula invisible que nos lleve a la conquista del espacio”. 2-Resucitar: Una canción donde la influencia viene de Paul McCartney. “Diego Olivero, que es un gran artista, estuvo encerrado varios días con los arreglos de este tema. El clima y la cuerda me generaron algo esotérico y macabro ligado a la muerte, el video pone todo en duda… Las sonoridades disparan ideas sobre las letras. La letra al final se torna ambigua: 'No es fácil vivir con el dolor que te causé, pero empiezo a sentirme bien'. 3-Las cosas que me hacen bien: “Con Diego (Olivero) queríamos un momento de relax y abandono, sin tanta vuelta armónica. De un tema que teníamos en Brasil él tuvo la habilidad, como productor, que salgan dos canciones y éste es uno de ellos. Es como soltar amarras. La letra dice: 'Entonces vamos con la cumbia, con la misa, el perreo, el Fernet con Coca Cola y la Coneja también'. 4-La canción de las bestias: Una canción de tinte acústico donde “la bestia es el tipo que lleva el peso, el esclavo, ahí me represento yo y ahí veo a todos los seres humanos. Todos somos bestias; hasta el más inmundo asesino tiene un corazón y eso tiene un valor. Está contado en primera persona: yo soy la bestia, me hago cargo, por eso es que me emociona tanto la canción”. 5-Gente en la calle: Acá suma su voz Lali que alguna vez había compartido escenario con Fito. “La cápsula del estribillo la teníamos de Córdoba. Hasta que la frase Gente de la calle cayó sola y la letra salió casi entera. Hablaba de algo que todos conocemos y pasa en todas las ciudades del mundo, tanta gente durmiendo en la calle. Era una melodía hermosa pero con una historia terrible, eso sucede también con las canciones que hago”. 6-Ey, You!: “Este tema pasó por muchas opciones y letras posibles hasta que en Los Angeles me agarró un chifle medio Lamborghiniano, y empecé a hablar sobre la violencia en general con un texto que era muchísimo más largo. Y le mandé todo a Hernán (de Mala Fama) y le cuento de qué va la canción y me dice: ´este tema tiene que ser para bailar y hablar de los tipos que les pegan a las minas´. Él limpió todo en forma magistral y me pasó un texto con jerga medio patibularia. Al final el tema genera un espacio vital para bailar, más allá que nombra algo terrible”. 7-Nadie es de nadie: “Hay algo sesentero, tipo Flower Power, con situaciones en que la gente se puede llegar a asustar. A veces te salís de las normas y hacés un quilombo bárbaro. No todos estamos en la búsqueda de las libertades. A veces cuando invitás a la gente a la libertad muchos salen corriendo. Yo los miro siempre con mi trago en la mano y cada tanto les toco el piano”. 8-Maelström: “Aparece como una canción medio de Elton John, ligada a un hombre con problemas de pareja. La figura de Maelström viene de un cuento de Edgard Allan Poe, ´Un descenso al Maelström´ relacionado con una tormenta que se da en los fiordos de Noruega. La metáfora tiene que ver con que todos entramos al Maelström con una vida llena de quilombos y algunos tenemos la suerte de salir. Ojalá que la curiosidad por la palabra lleve a que descubran a un escritor como Poe”. 9-Todo se olvida: “Esta canción arranca con 'Amor es el mejor sentimiento, amor es la palabra perfecta, amar es sagrado, amar es lo único que te dará libertad' y ahí está todo, ahí está el corazón del álbum. 'Las luces de mi barrio, son las luces de mi vida, las de mi eternidad', posiblemente sean las influencias de los grandes escritores del tango. Y termina con 'y sigo cantando, abrazado a la música, y todas las noches doy la bienvenida, sigamos bailando amor, después todo se olvida'.
