The yearly grind
For me, the final step in the laborious process of taking a deer from field to table is grinding day.
After cutting and packing the main cuts - roasts, steaks, etc. - I generally end up with 8 or 10 pounds of odds and ends. These I grind into burger. Because venison is so lean, I add one strip of bacon to every pound of venison, just to give it a llttle sizzle and stick-to-itiveness.
I package it into one-pound vacuum-sealed bags before freezing. It’s great for chili, tacos, spaghetti, etc.

Antelope Bone Broth
Jump to the Recipe I was looking to make stew from the pronghorn that we harvested from New Mexico last August. I found this amazing recipe for venison stew that required Bone Broth. I wanted to make the broth from our pronghorn, but it was something I have never done before and at first seemed a little intimidating, until I found this recipe. Since then, I have used it 4 times, on both…

Saw someone say on twitter „luke experienced subdrop and needed aftercare“ and I haven’t stopped thinking about this video/interview/comment bc I REALLY hope the producers are aware how much their actors are doing for this show and are taking proper care of them (e.g. having competent intimacy coordinators).

Reminder that Jacob Anderson apparently loves Armand and Daniel’s relationship in the books and it’s one of his favorite dynamics. So not only do you have Assad, Eric, and Luke repping it but you also have the show’s main actor going “I would like to see it.” They’re gonna be shooting DM scenes for next season and he’s going to be nodding approvingly on the background.

Honeymoon pt.2 - Urqopacha
"To call the Pelupelu merchants insistent would be putting it lightly. T'was a fair bargain all things considered. Two onzes of yerba mate and eight of coffee beans should last us a moon or two upon our return to Old Sharlayan."

what’s your process when drawing simplified and/or detailed backgrounds? any tips or tutorials? thanks!
the tiktok art critics are gonna crucify me for this one but genuinely my answer is that i trace. i find a reference photo (emphasis on PHOTO, do not trace other people's work) or take one myself, overlay it in my drawing program, and trace that motherfucker. this is what i do for almost every background. I've been encouraged to do this in art school. because most of what i draw is from video games, I usually either take my own reference photos from the game in question or use an online model resource like noclip to get the precise angles that i need. csp also has a bunch of free 3d models of like classrooms and other common buildings. there is legitimately no reason to kill yourself trying to draw complex backgrounds from scratch, and by tracing you ARE actually intuitively learning about how perspective works and spaces are constructed. in the event that there IS some specific background i need to draw that doesn't already exist somewhere, i find a reference photo with similar vibes/perspective and alter it to fit my needs during the tracing process (i.e. if i need like. a very specifically furnished room that doesn't exist anywhere but my head, i find just a regular room in the perspective i need and then add the right furniture in as i go. i've also gotten very good at frankensteining reference pictures together, which, again is a literal actual skill they teach you in art school if you get an illustration degree.)
the most important thing in terms of backgrounds imo is making it so your characters don't look out of place in your backgrounds. the only foolproof way i know how to do this is to draw the background FIRST, and THEN put the character into it. trying to draw a scene around a character is always going to look a little off, imo, and it will almost always be easier to account for perspective on a character than on a full scene. I also like to color my characters either at the same time as my backgrounds or after the backgrounds, because, again, it's much easier (and makes more sense in terms of how lighting and color work) to adjust a character's color palette to fit a background & lighting situation than it is to do it the other way around.

Defying their predestined roles worked out quite well for Merlin's friends. I mean
Lancelot, the commoner who committed identity fraud and became a knight. Knighthood did not stick at first, but he had sure as hell drawn the prince's attention. Eventually he lived and died a knight, just like in his dreams.
Gwaine, the noble-born who left his wealthy life and found what he'd been looking for: a family that loved him for himself.
Gwen, the serving girl, who rose to the throne and became the difference in the world she always wanted to see.
...
What I'm saying is maybe maybe if Arthur had moved to the countryside with Merlin to get that cottage core life against what everyone expected of him, then maybe everything would have been fine

If Ashlyn Banner was a character in a typical magic manhwa she would be the cool mage that remained isolated in the tower for over a decade without any sort of human contact until they were forced to due to the MC’s stupidity or in her case, Aiden’s shenanigans.
She would subsequently be roped into the chaos against her will, all while trying to figure out how to properly interact with real people after all this time and trying to protect this rag-tag group of people with varying backgrounds from certain death.
Aiden would be the crown prince who hated his position and responsibilities after the war so much he decided to become an explorer. It was a risky business with so many unexplored magical lands so it was right up in his alley but his parents only agreed to let him go if he brought his cousin Ben with him as a companion. Ben would be the powerful knight who was heavily traumatized and rendered mute during the war, working on finding himself once more while he and Aiden explored the world together.
Tyler would be the promising young knight who's trying to gain some prestige in order to take care of his family. Taylor would run the repair shop their dad left them but struggled to find a lot of customers due to the stigma that a woman couldn't possibly be strong enough or smart enough to do good repairs. The repair shop was incidentally right across the flower shop Logan's parents ran while he studied something with math or science at a fancy school and occasionally came by to help.
And the Crane Cult are the Big Bad™ that are using a blood sacrifices to call on the power of a higher being or something like that. And they wear bird masks of course.
Ashlyn vs Maverick in a magic duel, when?

Antelope Stew
Jump to the Recipe I have a very picky family so it is hard to impress them with anything other than a steak from our game, which they all love.  However I found this amazing recipe for venison stew at Miss Allies Kitchen that I ended up using with our pronghorn that we harvest from New Mexico last August. I really can’t believe how easy this stew is and how much flavor this stew has.  Not only…
