Every time I see someone say "fiction affects reality" I wonder if they've ever seen a furry (not a fursuit) or people with powers flying around, I mean, they're fictional things and fiction = reality, right?

Today I imagined a fic involving a ship I dislike with two characters being kinder than in canon, but their kindness actually being worse than canon. The 'kindness' leads to them being very co-dependent with one seeing the other as an extension of himself and the other building his self-worth on the good opinion of the first.
Do I think this is good or healthy? No.
Do I think people should have relationships like this? Of course not!
Do I have a history of co-dependency? Nope!
I just think this could be an interesting dynamic to explore and I'd love to see how it twists canon and their personalities. Does it lead to tragedy (of any sort) or do they find a way to heal? If the latter, what is the catalyst for change?
The only reasons I'm not writing it are that I do dislike the ship and I already have a project and a distraction to occupy me. But, I'd read it if someone else wrote it.
Fiction isn't reality and sometimes it is fun to create twisted shit just to see how it works or what it looks like.

hello! I know ask are closed, but I just wanna ask you something. Why won't you write for Nikto? He's one of my fav character and I want to know your reason! Thank you!
Hi! I am not writing for Nikto, Nikolay and Makarov because they are rusians and I am a Ukranian girl who lived under rusian occupation for 9 years. I have no desire to engage with rusian characters even in fiction, as I already saw these soldiers for the big chunk of my life, so I don't really want to write anything for them. I understand that some people like them, and there are writers who write about them but it's not me and I'm not going to lecture anyone, so yea I'm constantly having Nikto in my asks, but the only time I can actually think about him in a normal way if I gaslight myself into thinking he is from Dagestan and engaged in Caucasus separatism, so I kinda just delete any asks with him. Sorry

As a survivor of medical abuse from doctors and nurses, I am of mixed feelings about this. But, you know. It's funny in fiction even if finding out a nurse lied to me about anything would send me into a trauma spiral in real life.

tbh i do think the way you interact w fanbase can be and often is political. i do think you should unpack why you think certain things. i do think you should confront why you either ignore or objectify or treat poc like abusers. i do think you should look into why you can't bother to care about women characters. like i do think that matters lmao lol lmao. it's not raining on anyone's parade to rightfully point that out.

a compilation of some of the similarities between Maestro and the Toymaker...i reckon even if it wasn't stated explicitly, we could've guessed the connection 😉

In Despicable Me 4 trailer Gru was spending time with Margo while Lucy was at the supermarket with Agnes and Edith when someone (I assume an enemy) started chasing them. I saw a lot of comments that suggest that Lucy and Gru won't love the girls anymore now that they have their biological baby. Meanwhile they're spending time with them just the same lol

Maybe this is stupid but how do you handle liking Homelander but him being like Yknow a piece of crap and the whole r wording. Cuz I have some sort of stupid attraction to him but it makes me feel all sorts of guilty and gross and maybe that’s bc I already have mental issues and worry I’ll be punished or ridiculed or something bc of it and idk. It sounds really dumb but idk how to get out of the weird funk cycle bc I don’t like using the “it’s just fiction” either bc that doesn’t make me feel any better. Feel free to ignore this I’m just having a moment 😭
aw, darling. i'm saying this gently and kindly with my whole heart: introspection. me telling you why i'm okay with loving a fictional character isn't going to help you come to terms with the fact you do, especially since "it's just fiction" IS enough for me.
Homelander does not have victims. you cannot have Homelander arrested. no one you know or will ever know has been harmed by the text and images that combine to create this non-existent figment of our collective imaginations.
it sounds to me like your guilt/shame is primarily coming from your fear of judgement. that's not surprising given how heavily influenced fandom has become by puritan ideology. people ARE extremely cruel to one another these days for their preferences in media. you have to make the choice to break away from that. connect with people you feel safe around. no one is morally superior for their preference in fiction.
and also like... i'm not comfortable with EVERYONE in my life knowing how much i like Homelander. i absolutely have friends i would be embarrassed to try and explain it to. but i don't have to! it's not their business, it's mine.
having empathy for a fictional (and very tragic!) character does not make you a bad person any more than enjoying horror movies or violent video games would. please don't let anyone convince you that it does.

From what i've noticed, Proshippers are obsessed with criticism or criticism of why such a relationship is problematic, they say they are harassed, even though they have the same habit of harassing those who criticize them.

I mean… wlw content get overshadowed by mlm ships everyday so it is insensitive a little
Not to sound too mean but what do you expect me to do? I get that sapphic ships get overshadowed and underrated all the time in comparison to achillean ones. Believe me. I am a lesbian who is constantly pushing their sapphic ships everywhere.
But you can't expect people to suddenly stop posting about the achillean ships they enjoy just because they're more popular than YOUR favorite ships. Is it bothersome that achillean ships get more attention for the sole reason of being a male pairing while sapphic ships get ignored or not even suggested? Yeah!!!! It's frustrating.
But if you want some change in the amount of content you see then it's YOUR fight only and others should be allowed to post whatever they like. If you want to post only sapphic ships or you're bothered by them being talked in the same light as achillean ones, then it's YOUR choice to make.
Fandom is NOT activism!!! Fandom is meant to be enjoyed in whatever way you want. Fandom is to interpret media in your own way. So, honestly, if I want to make a simple post comparing two ships I like, why should I be trying to defend myself here for that? If people don't like it, then they can just block me, scroll, move on, etc.
To think a post about comparing fictional ships is insensitive is insane to me, tbh.
#bro i just made a post comparing a sapphic and an achillean ship please relax lmao#& don't act like this isn't specifically about shuggy hate bc i'm sure if it had been any other mlm ship i wouldn't have been getting hate#can i just PLEASE run my account however i like#also touch some grass these are fictional characters and making a wlw ship more popular won't do any changes in real life#and even if it did bc after all fandom IS a social enviornment and normalizing sapphic relationships is great always:#you can't just tell people they're being insensitive when it's just a simple post#i understand your point i really do#you think that comparing a sapphic ship to an achillean ship is bad bc it makes it focus on MEN only#and we already live in a men's world to have to deal with more men ig#but !!!!!!!!! something really fun about fandom is that it's FICTION and it does not affect reality in any way#and yes it is bothersome in a social level that male characters are more popular and we can study that and be bothered by it#but to claim it's insesitive or bad or harmful is just plainly stupid#once again fandom is not activism and i don't owe anyone to change my posts to highlight other ships more when my acc MINE#tldr i hate these discourses bc it makes ME be rude when i hate that#in fact i wouldn't be this mean rn if it wasn't bc i'm getting A LOT of asks abt this bc of a simple post lmao#you know i have a job to care about it's insane to me that you have enough free time to go to other people's acc to complain

Anin... the ring is such a great romantic gesture but what exactly is the plan for when someone asks Pin why she is wearing a bigass engagement ring 😭😭😭
like if she was someone else it could work as a way to ward off suitors but she can't exactly lie and come up with a convoluted story about a fiancée or husband who is away.

One issue I have with the whole 'Wildbow said Aura Theory isn't True' is that the whole theory comes from, or at least got big, because of a comment he made in reply to a fan comment.
Now, I have read a reddit thread where he said something to the effect of 'I was tired, not paying attention and didn't give the right answer' or something to that effect. And like...
Okay, fine. He made a mistake. Took him three years to notice and correct it, or something like that, but fine.
But that calls into question literally any other Word of God statement he's ever provided, at least in answer to a question or comment. Because he could have bene tired and not paying attention and given a wrong answer then.
And since so much of the wormverse is understood through WoG because of the tight confines of much of both Worm and Ward in terms of POV, that means... a lot of what we think we know about the Wormverse could be 100% wrong.
Like, how many landmines are littered around in his WoG that he's never caught because they never caught on, never became popular fic trends or correcting them never became central to a sequel or later part of the work?
At that point, should we care about his WoG at all, when he could just reveal he was wrong?
Like, to be clear, I don't think Aura Theory is a necessary explanation for Amy's obsession with Victoria. Nor do I think, even if it was true, it would actually mean Amy didn't still actively choose (albeit while in the midst of a psychological break after the sort of shit that would break most people under the sort of stress she was under).
I do think Aura theory is interesting, and it's worth exploring in a fanfic (because fanfics can be 'hey, what if X that isn't true in canon was'), and I wish there wasn't a contingent of fans quite so rabid about constantly screeching 'it's not canon' anytime it comes up in discussion, but...
Really. Either Wildbow just up and retconned the Aura or he doesn't police his WoG properly and it calls everything else he's ever said into doubt, unless it's specifically backed up by material in the text that can be taken as 100% unbiased/reliable.
Or we can just not care about WoG at all, which is really the best way to do things in almost every fandom, because ultimately:
If It's Necessary To Understand The Work, A Character In Said Work Or To Understand the Intent Of A Scene, It Should Be In The Work Itself.

Just came across a list of anime/Manga characters where the main couple is essentially canon etc even though one of them is being, shall we say, "forceful" with their feelings towards the character who initially has no interest in them. You know the types, it's Usui and Misaki from Kaichu wa maid sama, it's Shizuku and Haru from My Little Monster, it's Sana and Akito from Kodomo no Omocha, etc etc etc.
And I see people in the comments calling people who like these couples, characters, and types of stories all sorts of horrendous things. I saw someone even saying that if you enjoy "SA romance," as they described it, then you must be a r*pist in real life.
Yes, they said that. And far too many agreed.
I've said this before, and I'll say it again; being an adult means you need to be capable of separating reality from fiction. Just because a person likes to listen to true crime podcasts doesn't mean they're a murderer, and the fact that there's ADULTS out there who genuinely think that makes sense is concerning.
What I DON'T mean by separating reality from fiction that is that you have to enjoy mediums that you don't enjoy. No one wants to force people to watch a piece of medium they are uncomfortable with.
But please try to get it through your skull that just because someone likes something that would be problematic in real life doesn't mean that person themselves is inherently bad nor that they would ever commit or encourage these fictional scenarios.
I love dark romance, I love the "boy is so into a girl that he's stalking her and being a creep about it", and I love me some dub-con. This is a fact. What is also a fact about me is that when a guy I had been chatting with sent me 30+ messages while I was at work, that got more and more unhinged and possessive, I immediately reported him and blocked him.
Cause that shit isn't fun IN REAL LIFE because you can't control it. In a book? You can close the book. You can pause a movie and watch something else. And you can blacklist a show.
It all boils down to consent, and I'm so tired of this discussion.
